Seconda puntata. Allora, mi sono trovato a un bivio, da una parte una PSP del 2008 e piú moderne cinesate con i loro emulatori, dall’altra mamma Nintendo con arcade collections, Virtual Console e derivati. Adesso, tanto per chiarire, la scelta che ho fatto é sicuramente la meno popolare e forse nemmeno la piú logica, ma al cuore non si comanda. Sí perché ho rinunciato ad avere l’intero universo retroludico a mia disposizione a costo zero e ho comprato una Switch. Non ho mai amato troppo gli emulatori. Primo, la legalitá per me conta ancora qualcosa. Moralista? Assolutamente sì, direi anche bigotto. Secondo, le cose che puoi avere gratis, raramente le apprezzi. Se poi sono troppe, non le apprezzi per niente. Terzo, l’eventualitá seppur remota di dover smacchinare con android, homebrews e settaggi misteriosi mi sconvolgeva. Per inciso, ios forever. Quarto, le rom sono fredde. Non hanno anima. Non hanno manuali, boxprint, presentazioni. Sono rom. Quinto, sia la PSP che i vari Bittboy o RG hanno schermi generosi, ma non quanto un 3DS XL o una Switch. Sesto, l’idea di passare degli anni a maneggiare cinesate mi deprimeva. Nulla contro i cinesi eh. Imparassimo un po’ da loro, noi italiani. Ma un Nintendo é un Nintendo. Sí lo so che probabilmente anche le Switch sono fatte in Cina e che il retrosoftware che gira su Switch altro non é che roms che girano su emulatori standalone ma shhhhhh lasciatemi sognare. La Nintendo per me é giapponese. Okidoki. La mia... uhm... settima console Nintendo. Poi tra 3DS e Switch ho scelto la seconda perché é chiaramente piú recente, meglio supportata dalla casa madre e con un parco titoli retró di maggior spessore (Arcade Classics, AKA Neogeo, Sega Ages e poi chiaramente le collections e le compilations piú aggiornate). Ho contato circa 700 retrogames e stanno crescendo ancora. Sí lo so che costano, mica li compro tutti. Peccato per l’assenza della Virtual Console ma l’abbonamento al Nintendo Online in parte sopperisce. Poi della Switch Lite amo l’interfaccia, molto piú minimale e game oriented rispetto al 3DS che é un po’ piú teen-machine e ha troppe funzioni e icone (inutili) nei menu. Poi vabbé, lo schermo della Switch é poesia.
