#reversing time

I was watching the anime adaptation of the manga adaptation of the old CITV show Bernard's Watch. The new show was considerably darker than the original, and the eponymous watch had a new feature; Bernard could save the time within that day in his watch so if he died (which happened now and again in this version and, IIRC, never in the original) he could reverse time back to that moment and do the day over.

In this episode, Bernard was at a party out in the woods at the house of one of his richer friends from University. A few minutes after midnight they found the corpse of one of his friends, but since the murder happened after midnight he could go back to midnight and prevent it. This led him into a long series of trying to stop everyone at the house being killed by a man who had the same kind of watch Bernard did. Whenever Bernard stopped him, the unnamed bald man would revert time as well and try again. Now, as anyone familiar with the show will know, normally the Watches cannot be used for evil. Unnamed Bald Man could only get away with it because it was Friday the 13th, so Bernard had to stall the man long enough for it to become Saturday and the Time Police could revoke the watch's power.

Elrond as viewed by Númenoreans is hilarious. Aristocracy is one thing, and their long kept histories and direct descent from the elves.

But someone lowborn - still educated, still familiar with the stories. Faithful or not. Lifespan lower than the upper class, but longer than other humans - but that doesn't matter - thousands of years is a long time. The Roman Empire was more recent than this guy.

Because imagine the founder of your nation and its first king, who was told to have been born as the son of a bird and a star, lived to be 500, and who died 2000 years ago. Just. Has a sibling. Who is still running around. You can go visit him. You can! He's very friendly. He wrote the medical book your healers study from. He updates it religiously every other decade. You don't hear from him often because he lives fairly secluded from society and seems to prefer a quiet life but every few hundred years something batshit insane happens and he's right there. At the center of things. Pretending to be a background character, as if Sauron didn't look warily at him expecting him to turn into another Lúthien incident. Maybe he's shy?

You are a sailor. You meet him on one of your journeys to Middle Earth.

He's not shy. He's just crown-phobic. He looks like every single painting of Tar-Minyatur you've seen. He glitters under starlight. Literally. His parents are a bird and a star and you keep forgetting that's not a metaphor. Everyone is in love with him. He sings to the birds. He has had a slowburn one-sided romance going on for the past 1000 years. His crush has yet to find out but the king is running a betting pool.

4chan dying via getting hacked into oblivion by its own even further radicalized exiles while tumblr is somehow still alive is amazing. it's like watching an anime character getting beaten down for multiple episodes, and instead of having some kind of epic second wind the guy beating them just suddenly dies of a stroke and leaves our protagonist as the last one standing amidst a sea of corpses despite them having gotten bodied in every fight.

Danny has to work off his Sentence

So! Danny isn't the King of the Infinite Realms. And he is not above the Law.

Sure, he has many friends in high places, and he did defeat the King in single combat, but that doesn't mean he is above the Law in the way The King would be.

And unfortunately for him, Walkers Laws do actually have some backing.

Not all of them. Some are just laws he placed over his Lair and surrounding Territory, which he is really nitpicky about, but the Big ones he touts are the Laws of the entire Zone set by the First King. Don't Tresspass on Lairs without an official challenge, don't End a Realms Being without permission, Don't bring Humans into the Zone without permission, etc.

And Danny has broken quite a few of them, meaning Walker is entirely in his rights to put him away for a few Thousand Years. Thankfully, there is an alternative.

Since Danny wasn't wanted for any major crimes, Walker offered a different path for him. Danny was still one of the Strongest Ghosts in the Zone, and as the Portal was technically his Grave he had full authority to use it however he liked, so if he ran a couple of errands for Walker, he could consider his Sentence served.

All he has to do was round up a few of the Trouble Makers that had escaped his grasp by virtue of being in the Living Realm, and he would forgive his previous crimes.

So, Danny took him up on the offer. It was better than being constantly hounded by Walkers Guards. The fact that he could beat them easily was moot, it was extremely annoying and he wanted it to stop.

So he was given his First list of targets, and went on his way.
