Just got to the lightning episodes in my rewatch and had forgotten how hard they hit.
From Bobby echoing what he said to the baby with Buck, to Eddie having been also struck by the lightning but still trying to run up the ladder and pull up Buck, to "do more!" to "which one?" to Chimney's quiet devastation when he tells Maddie he was the one supposed to go up the ladder. Eddie silently crying when he watches Chris talk to Buck.
Also the coma dream: how Hen is unchanged, and solid. Bobby thirsts after his wife in any reality. Buck's "I'm always going to feel guilty about that" at not helping Fake Chris find his dad. Buck choosing and valuing himself. Not believing the lie that people don't care for him and are willing to pull the plug on him.
May telling Bobby he brought Buck into the marriage. May telling Bobby she loves him (and making him eat a sandwich).
S6 definitely isn't the strongest but these episodes are definitely up there as among the show's best.

I've recently started rewatching Agents of Shield with my sister who hasn't seen it before, so here are some rewatch-inspired thoughts about the first half of season one:
The Bus Kids are all such babies! Especially Skye.
May gets knocked out in each of the first two episodes. It's definitely taking her a moment to readjust to fieldwork.
So many Shield water bottles.
Even though I know what Ward actually is, he still makes me like the version of himself we see here.
May and Coulson's one-sided conversations are amazing.
I honestly can't remember. Did Ward's younger brother die in the well? The flashes we see aren't super clear.
Interesting that Coulson tells Skye that there was a little girl in Bahrain, but he doesn't mention that she died.
I'd never realized that we get a glimpse of the carvings during Coulson's flashbacks of being revived.
Speaking of which, I thought looking at the carvings was what triggered his instinct to carve, but the drawings on the whiteboard in Eye Spy don't seem to set him off.
I love the way that when Coulson is kidnapped, he doesn't say the "Previously on" or "We'll return in a moment" bits. I remembered that from later seasons, but it's a nice touch to start it now.

What kinda freaky shit did the British Navy have going on… like who invented being punished as a boy?? Would love to have heard that elevator pitch… “it’s like being lashed but make it weirdly sexual….”

Honestly upon pilot rewatch no. 638382 I feel like Lestat’s dinner outburst was entirely justified and reveals more about the pointe du lc family than it does him. Yes I’m curious as to what he said to Paul telepathically but based on what he said out loud he just sounded very reasonably triggered by Paul’s very intentional targeting. I think the pointe du lac family mainly bc of Florence over values prestige and the performance of it. There’s no room for emotionality and lestat’s very honest reveal of his own trauma may have been a hair too real for the de pointe du lacs. I think he loses their favor not because of his temper but because he seems erratic and baggage heavy in relation to the performance they’ve committed to. I feel like that’s partially why Lestat and Louis work so well. For better or for worse they give each other space for these big emotions to come out
#also likely why Louis may have been initially drawn to Armand but their relationship falls apart even after reconciling initially#Armand performance stoic elegance in a way Florence would’ve eaten up and there’s no way that doesn’t disturb Louis at least a little#but we’re all drawn to the familiar hm#louis de pointe du lac#lestat de lioncourt#loustat#interview with the vampire#rewatch thoughts

I wonder if this was a translation thing, or if there is or was indeed a second Cloud Light Sword, and what happened to it.
Where is the second one? Did Li Lun get his hands on it and hid it in his treasure storage next to the precious magical sundial? Is it stuck in Ying Long's butt and that is why he's so grumpy?
I think it would be a glorious Li Lun x Zhuo Yichen plot bunny to have him dangle the second Cloud Light Sword in front of half-demonised Xiao Zhuo and lure him into his cave to come and get it. For a price.🤣I only have shippery thoughts, I'm not sorry.

So I went twenty years of my life fangirling over Legolas (whenever I was fangirling lotr), but during my latest rewatch after not seeing the films in many years I realised that Boromir is the most awesomest, bestest and human character of them all.
It was that moment when he stood up during the council of Elrond and began speaking. I think I actually held my breath. I realised how passionate he was and fell in love with that. Then I realised why he actually wanted the Ring and his very justified concern for his people.
I don't even know how I just glossed over this. As a kid, sure, but it took a proper rewatch and years in between that I could "rewire" my thoughts about him and give him the appreciation he deserves.
Also, since I was watching the extended editions I saw the Osgiliath scene where he is in that freaking amazing armor, and he's literally being a defender of arts. Just when I thought I couldn't love him more.

Mac not knowing about the SINNED system and repeatedly not understanding that Dennis came up with it on purpose even when being expressly told as much suggests to me that Dennis wasn't out to him prior to this. AT all

One thing I've really noticed on my rewatch - and been emphasized by s11 v deliberate callbacks - is how much Eddie never invalidates or judges Buck's behaviour, even when it can seem overdramatic or unhinged - because he sees the motivation behind it (with the obvious exceptions of the divorce arcs, which you could argue are because he doesn't want to face the motivation behind it, or the fallout affects him in ways he can't deal with - separation).
He doesn't soft soap when he acts badly - he doesn't mollycoddle him - but he also is the one stepping in and going, ok you might have handled that better but your feelings were valid (see, in particular, the Buckley parents) and how that tendency plays out even stronger in the coming out scene in S7.
Buck is not only terrified to come out to Eddie, he's embarrassed by his own behaviour, and Eddie basically instantly dismisses the idea he did anything wrong. He teases him - that was fast, even for you - but his speech is very telling. Instead of saying, yeah you were nervous you fucked up he should understand that, he's basically 'well he doesn't know you're an idiot but once he does he'll love you like the people who know you are an idiot do and if he doesn't he's an idiot'.
He doesn't*know* you, but once he does, he'll see your unhinged behaviour is part of your charm (because to Eddie "I'm gonna stand here and smile indulgently while you do insane shit" Diaz) that is true.
What he's saying is: you acted like Buck, because you're Buck, and that can seem foolish from the outside but the people who know you *value* that Buckness *because* they know it, they know where it comes from and what it brings and what it's worth. And the people who don't value that - in its entirety - are missing out big time and don't deserve it.

Stakes Time! (2/2)
Read Part 1 Here!
Stakes Park 6: Take Her Back (continued)
great way to end this arc lol
have always enjoyed this sequence. The lyrics of Marceline's song are interesting:
Marceline: It's Spring again, and the yard is full of tiny flowers You used to call them weeds And you killed them all PB: But they were growing too tall
I'm sure there's some intended meaning here... some reference... but I don't know it atm. But it's amusing that Marceline envisions this ideal future where PB has loved her into old age and is preparing to bury her in the backyard (like a dog) - yet there is a sadness to it, a misunderstanding between them, but as we see in the earlier backgrounds PB lets the weeds grow the way Marceline likes.
That episode took forever for me to get through I kept getting distracted... onto the finale!
Stakes Part 7: Checkmate
I like to imagine Marceline's initial attraction to PB was extremely shallow she was just like "waow... a girl made out of the tasty color... what a concept"
back when Marceline used to eat she probably never had this much variety and quality. She p much never got to really experience non-survival food. She's like a toddler experiencing something for the first time.
Ah I thought that was the finale but next ep is the finale. This was a long special, I think the first one this long?
Finale under the cut!
Stakes Part 8: The Dark Cloud
PB: he'll be ighite
So late into the series, Everything Stays actually became one of my favorite Adventure Time songs - especially when people related it to Spinel from the SU film, and Sugar shared the inspiration she hadn't even realized she kept writing about haha. One of my favorite little artist moments...
I think I enjoyed Stakes a lot more on this rewatch! Especially because I had more context, I had kind of tuned out of Adventure Time by the time I originally watched this special and found it kind of confusing (didn't know who the King of Ooo was or anything).
The finale got a little Avengers-core with the whole rallying of the kingdoms lol (something it would repeat in the finale finale of the show) but otherwise it was pretty good.
Marceline said the experience helped her to grow, but I feel like it's wishful thinking... that was like what, barely a day or two? Sorry but you're still a permateen haha.
I also realized at the end PB kind of nervously asked Marceline to move in with her... cute... wasn't ready for that step though.
Overall I wish there was more emotion from Marceline in this special, I mean come on she's the EMO TEEN! But she was kind of one note... like compare this range to her acting in Nightosphere it just didn't feel like the same kind of range. Another area it's lacking is the music, Everything Stays is pretty much the only solid melody with the other songs very forgettable/obviously not done by a seasoned musician like Sugar. And I think with a Marceline special you really should have put extra effort into the music, there shouldn't be only one good song.
But complaints aside, I liked it! Was a fun watch! Lots of good humor and cool designs.

“And I’m sure because of your kindheartedness she will find herself a husband in no time”

also also i think Armand's pleading when he runs after louis post script reveal is less begging and more him trying to trigger whatever mind-fogging he's been doing to louis all these years. He's telling louis how he feels, not how he should feel, or even why he shouldn't get mad. You feel this way about it now. This is your reality.
