RIP Gizmo ❤😔

I lost my best friend and brother today. This morning I knew that something wasn't right. I had already mentally prepared myself for the worst but emotionally who can ever prepare for that.

A week ago he started to feel ill. We thought it was just a common "cold" but then he stopped eating and it turns out he had damage to his kidneys. We had to syringe feed him food and he was on medication. He didn't get better and just got worse everyday.

He was in so much pain and we had to put him to sleep. I just didn't want him to continue to suffer, it wouldn't be fair to him to go on like that just because I want him around.

I think he knew... at night he crawled into my bed and just slept next to me the whole night.

I still can't quite believe that in a span of a week this has happened. 😔

Goodbye Gizmo... you have had such a huge impact on my life. I never thought I would love someone as much as I did you. I love you so much and you will always be with me ❤

Thank you for being the ultimate companion and most profound teacher. You gave me a lifetime of limitless inspiration, loyalty and love. Thank you for holding on long enough to see 40 states & 6 provinces with me. I know it wasn't always easy for you, but I will forever cherish the year we had. You've guided me so well throughout my 20s, showing me how to grow and become a better human every day, that I can't imagine 30 without you... but maybe you always knew I was meant to start this new chapter alone.

11 years ago I met a cat and fell in love with him as fast as I fell for his daddy. Gizmo met me and said “you’re my mommy now” and we’ve been a family ever since. This Gizmo fought a long and hard battle. He gave up but kept going for another week forcing himself to eat. He was waiting for his daddy to come home and didn’t want me to be alone if anything happened. I’ve never seen a cat snuggle with me so much in his last days. Usually they hide but we were inseparable. He followed me around even though he could barely walk anymore. We enjoyed each other’s love until the very last minute. I’m going to miss my handsome man. He’s the closest to royalty I’ve ever been. My heart is broken but I’m relieved he’s no longer in pain. 💔 #Gizmo #ripgizmo #cat

RIP to the best cat in the world. You were the sweetest, most comforting, and most interesting cat that I've ever known. You made my family and I so happy over the past 15-16 years and you have seriously made our lives better. You weren't just a cat, you were family. I loved you so much that I still played with and kissed you even though I'm now allergic. You mean so much to me and last night was the worst night of my life... But I'm thankful to know that you lived a long, healthy and happy life with us and that I was there to comfort you during your last few moments.
