miss ma'am is 29 and has no idea what she wants to do in life. she doesn't know shit about fuck. she's paralyzed by indecision and making the wrong choice so she just...doesn't do anything.

her power has helped her, at least, have a career that keeps her from being on the street or completely poor. without her job as a personal trainer she'd have nothing as she doesn't have a support system. her dad was an abusive alcoholic and her mom loved her and did her best but never got them out of the situation so as soon as jihye was able she disappeared into the wind.

if you knew her prior to her turning 20, when she was im nari, no you didn't. she doesn't acknowledge her past or who she used to be and if you call her nari, she'll gaslight you to hell and back.

she has the same power as her dad, which is its own can of worms that she's not addressing or getting help for.

she really did move into the apartment for a washer and dryer because she hates the laundry mat and would sooner yeet herself from a building then sit in one for hours again.

sis can't be serious for more than 20 consecutive seconds without panicking and making a joke or immediately disengaging. she doesn't do conflict.

she's been in the apartments for 4 years and is probably still a stranger to most because she sleeps weird hours and is always operating on gremlin time.

she's always eating junk and subsisting on cigarettes and energy drinks.

she's got a good heart but she's just constantly overwhelmed by everything and was never given good coping mechanisms. hoping we can find her someone in the rp that can help her move past her crippling indecisiveness and actually grow.

plot ideas:

obviously because I said she can't deal with anyone who knew her before she moved and changed her identity, we have to have that. maybe childhood best friends and your muse is like, "no, I definitely know you. you do the same thing with your lip she did." and it's just some tom and jerry tomfoolery until she breaks.

a love interest (m/f/nb/etc) that things seemed incredibly serious with until miss jihye blew it up and ditched. the thought of anything serious would terrify her and I'm sure the aftershock of her actions would be fun to rp. I love angst and drama and slow burn so pls give me this?!!

a new bestie. you see this weird chick who's existing on cigarettes and monster and you're 98% sure you've never seen her come in with groceries?? how is she even alive?? and your muse kind of takes it upon themselves to look after her, for whatever reason. at first jihye is skeptical but she comes to enjoy your muse's presence and before she knows it, she's gotten too close and has a new bestie she refuses to let go of.

okay listen. she's never cruel or mean outright, ever, but she is kind of oblivious and her inability to treat anything with the respect it deserves or requires could definitely rub someone the wrong way. I could definitely see someone in the apartments thinking she's thoughtless and rude because of her level of self involvement and not really being used to thinking of others.

her savior. your muse agreed she could use their washer and dryer, whether through constant badgering or the kindness of their heart. jihye brings snacks, booze, cigarettes-- whichever your muse prefers in payment. she's not good at being sociable but your muse can see she's really trying her best despite the awkwardness.

someone jihye flirts with constantly. she's good at smooth talking and chatting people up and is often very forward. your muse has caught her eye. we can plot whether things get more serious or it's just a playful back and forth or just jihye being a greaseball before it grows into a friendship or something else?

hello hello, i'm real psyched to be here! i'm sarah (she/they) & i'm here with my spunky girl, choi minsi. i haven't rp'd in forever so bare with me as i get used to it again; i also work a full time job but i will certainly try my best to take time off of my day to dedicate to writing! i have minsi's background all figured out but i haven't had the time to really write it all down so it's not on any pages however! i have her profile with me and mostly completed so you're welcome to check that out. in the meantime, i'll put a bit about her under the cut and hoping i manage to spark up any interactions from it. feel free to like this post if you're interested in plotting and i'll come to you directly ( with other means of contact if you prefer that ).

minsi was not born into a family of fame nor luxury even though her family lineage was fairly well known far into the past since it has been about a decade since their family line had a metahuman born into the world. the last known one happened to have been a super villain and from her father's side of the family and they would much rather keep that buried but they get reminded of it on occasion. her great grandfather however, was a pretty well known aeternal who was a force to be reckon with, literally.

her parents appear to be pretty normal but they were pretty flashy during their time as metahumans themselves; they would much rather live a much quieter life after some years however after minsi was born, they would rather have her thrive despite their uncertainty regarding their own family lineage. her grandfather did have fame and then their family name practically fell ( what a tragedy ~ ).

at first... she didn't think her ability was all that special when she manifested it at the age of nine. they reported her missing at one point and it wasn't until 2 hours later that they found her in a completely different neighborhood ( she came out fine, just they found her exhausted af then continued to sleep the entire day ).

for awhile, she didn't have the greatest control of her powers until she started training at the academy or at least a little before that. her parents always had to watch her like a hawk. at the age of 16, she decides then to get a motorcycle license against her parents wishes. they got mad but y'know, ultimately just wanted her to be careful but then after a month of riding it, she got into a minor little accident while riding it and fell off as it slid across the sidewalk with her still on it, yikes! but thankfully she hit no one, only just a little busted up knee and scratch damages to her motorcycle ( she was wearing a helmet, no worries! ). this was also the time when she used her minor ability to alter movement ( a minor ability that i decided last minute because i am a mess, oops! ) ; this actually saved her from hurting someone too so... yippee?

between that motorcycle incident until she was about 18, she wants to chalk it up to bad luck or something like that. she always seemed to have problems running into bad dudes and delinquents on occasion because she keeps appear in the wrong place at the wrong time trying to use her portals ( recognize her face but can never seem to catch her ). and yeah, a lot of stuff happen as it became a reoccurring thing for awhile but i won't describe them all and make this an even longer post!

her parents became increasingly frustrated of her dumb little antics, which were mostly an accident, mind you and she starts losing more control of her life in a way ( she's tired, man ). she's not sure if she calls herself a hero or anything, thinks that creating portals is something a sidekick would do and a lot of the kids at her school and those around her seem to think so and she didn't seem to mind back then but now she's just conflicted.

around 18, she starts learning mixed martial arts. takes taekwondo classes and practices kickboxing at the gym. this was because she wanted to be able to handle herself better when facing baddies, y'know? and she has gotten quite good at it after committing to it for several months. the people around daemon consider her a very quick opponent because you never know where her punches or kicks are gonna land. think of tifa lockhart from final fantasy 7 and that's how she fights... but without the backflips, she's not that agile.

also since her parents kept bothering her about the training academy, she decided to enter eventually and making waves as a field supporter only to get her rejection letter after graduation. confusion all around because minsi genuinely thought she did a terrific job? and no, she didn't tell her parents about it because she was miffed.

minsi basically moved into the silverline apartments because she mainly wants to find some answers in terms of what kind of hero she actually wants to be or whether or not she wants to be a hero. you'd think after all those encounters with delinquents that it would sway her, right? even after supposedly failing the final assessment no less. maybe being around other metahumans will give her a change in perspective but right now, she harbors slight resentment for aeternals for the moment. from then to now, she had already begun rebuilding herself up and minsi sure did make a name for herself as a metahuman and a fighter.

she of course developed normal person hobbies, mostly streaming. she's a fighting game streamer... games like tekken, guilty gear and street fighter she definitely plays. and occasionally overwatch. she likes comfy cozy games and rpgs too when the mood strikes but she plays that on her own time.

most likely always keeps a snack on her person or candy.

rides a motorcycle! her prized possession pretty much and her main source of transportation. she crashed the very first one she got, now with a new one, by the way. she likes cool cars too but her motorcycle is precious, lmao.

usually has a smile on her face, be it real or faking it. i can say she's friendly? but she doesn't really go out of her way to befriend strangers randomly or anything. when she does interact with someone, purely out of interest / curiosity or something else, she always gotta add some sassy comment. some things coming out of her mouth could be rude but she never rly means it; her intentions are always good. she's truly happy when doing what she enjoys and by eating good food.

maybe you vaguely remember her on the street before some years ago but never got a chance to talk to her to ask what the hell was going on because she was preoccupied with running away from some bad eggs / maybe small time villains or thugs. you’re thinking, that girl is trouble, right? well, she is. it’s not that she wants to be that person.

that person who she almost ran over with her motorcycle. she didn’t though because of her motion alteration ability so lucky you! she’s okay, if you’re wondering!

i’m always down for having someone that minsi calls a “partner in crime” and also a friend who she can do crazy stuff with. you may be asking, what kind of crazy stuff? well we can think about that!

minsi isn't looking for a relationship or any dates but if you are down for something along those lines, i don't mind it! she'll just be very tsundere about liking someone romantically.

the resident who has been complaining about her the most. she yells sometimes within the comfort of her own room because she was playing an intense game of tekken or something.

SUMMARISED STORY,

♫ NOW PLAYING : PSYCHO - BAEKHYUN

⤷ junho was born on november 15, 1997 to a seemingly normal family. thier parents were both elementary school teachers in the city, and their family lived a humble beginning. they were the second-oldest child, having an older brother and two younger sisters, and they were just a normal, happy family...

⤷ ( tw : familial death ) tragedy would strike when junho was eight years old, just a couple months after their youngest sister was born. an aeternal by the name ARCHANGEL ( flight via angel wings + minor light manipulation ) was having an intense fight with his nemesis across the city, and it was just unfortunate that the yang family's home was caught in the crossfire with junho's family inside while they were away at a friend's house that afternoon. everyone in the house was pronounced dead and junho was by themself.

⤷ it was a hectic couple days for poor ARCHANGEL, who had a squeaky clean image with zero civilian deaths since their enlistment into the aeternal task force decades earlier. public opinion really turned on him the moment video surveillance came out showing that the destruction of family's house could've been avoided twenty minutes earlier when his initial mission was completed instead of chasing after the villain. it was probably the first time he's ever acted so irrationally, and now he was reaping what he sowed.

⤷ the task force's pr team suggested that he should adopted the newly-orphaned junho to help save face. to be clear, ARCHANGEL had never wanted children because they only cared about their career. taking care of a child was never something he wanted to do, much less take care of a child he's never met before whose only knowledge of him was the fact that he's the reason they were now an orphan.

⤷ he still ends up adopted junho, mostly due to the pressure of the public after news outlets released articles of his alleged guilt, and that he wanted to adopt them as a way to make peace with what had happened.

⤷ ( tw : parental neglect ) they do not get along behind the scenes. junho is uncooperative when they aren't in front of cameras and the aeternal is not interested in the child at all. he leaves junho in the care of various nannies who either only gush about how lucky they were for being adopted by someone so handsome and rich, or were in it for the large sum of payment given for providing them with the necessities. junho hated them all.

⤷ junho's ability manifests suddenly when he's thinking about his family one night at the age of ten. he only had three blurry photos of them all, somehow ninety-nine percent preserved despite the ruins of his family's home that surrounded them. he wished he could see them again, so imagine his surprise when he could see his brother's reflection in the mirror as if he were alive!

⤷ but no, sadly it's only junho, and the shift only lasts a few seconds. he studies his reflection in the mirror for almost an hour, slightly changing his features to test the waters. he realises he could completely change his eye color to hide the gold streak that had appeared in them and decides that he can't tell those around him — especially ARCHANGEL — about his ability. if he's right, he feels ARCHANGEL will take use the revelation to his advantage, and junho did not want that under any circumstances.

⤷ it takes a while for them to learn how to keep their eyes changed for longer than a couple seconds at a time, and there are a couple times nannies have done a double-take when they turned towards junho suddenly. when they manifest their first minor ability, sleep inducement, they stop hiding the real colour of their eyes and reveal that as their primary ability at thirteen. it's nothing as grandiose as ARCHANGEL's powers, but it sure was unexpected! the aeternal promised he would personally train his "son" but we all know how that went... junho trained themself.

⤷ junho decides to live a "humble life" in spite of the reality that they're a new addition to the nepo baby club. they graduate high school, gets their bachelors for psychology, and more recently got their masters in psychology. their "dad" can't really be upset with the direction they've taken in life, but if only their ability was better suited for the life of an aeternal... right?

⤷ behind the scenes, junho was busy making connections to get themself acquainted with various villains across the city. their views very much align with them, and being well acquainted with aeternals through ARCHANGEL has made it easier for them to gain the fragile trust of those who required the information. they go by the alias 'ATLAS', for no reason other than the fact it sounds cool, but also what kind of villain ( if they could be really be called that... ) goes by their full name?

⤷ ( tw: violence ) four years ago, ARCHANGEL was on a mission and tasked to capture a small-time villain hiding out at an abandoned cabin. it turned out to be a trap, and he was ambushed by four other villains that had been off the grid for weeks. in the fight, although the villains had not killed him, instead they had incapacitated the aeternal by cutting off his wings and stealing them. they left him to die but thankfully more aeternals showed up to aid him, but the damage was done. although ARCHANGEL still had power, they couldn't find the will to continue being a hero. all according to junho's plan, of course... they wanted ARCHANGEL alive for a reason.

⤷ they started staying at silver line three years ago while they were interning at the wellness center, but they only became a sleep therapist within the last year with the use of his ability as well as making the right connections. sometimes they do work at han pharmaceuticals as well, both has themself but mostly shifted, typically morphed into someone that already works there.

⤷ after ARCHANGEL was decommissioned, junho momentarily believed that they have gotten their revenge. it didn't last very long because there were countless stories of civilians suffering physically, mentally and / or financially at the hands of aeternals without them facing too much repercussion for their actions. so junho continues working with any villains needing information, both new clients and their good ol' regulars alike!

PERSONALITY + EXTRA INFO,

⤷ junho uses any pronouns, mostly influenced by the fact that they're a shapeshifter, and thus have no preferences when it comes to pronouns. you'll see me interchange between they / them and he / him a lot but feel free to use any !

⤷ junho is two-faced. point blank. he is constantly wearing a mask unless he really trusts you and not many people have that privilege.

⤷ on the surface, he comes off as someone very friendly, easy to get along with and easy to speak to. he's confident in his skin without being vain, and he's known for helping others whenever they need someone, regardless if they know each other or not. he has a gentle personality that isn't quick to anger, and they're someone who seems to really care about the community around him. and you should never be friend with your therapist, but junho makes it so easy to forget that's an unspoken rule.

⤷ he is still all of these things with the villains that he works with ... but there are many, many layers to his identity. unless he's been working with someone for a long time or if they're likeminded individuals who want to see the aeternal task force fall off the face of the earth, he doesn't make any real friendships with someone. for someone who doesn't fit the aforementioned criteria, they need to have connections that junho can eventually connect himself to in order to be deemed useful to him. keeping those he barely cares about at an arms length is his norm.

⤷ as a villain, junho is someone who stays behind the scenes. he hires others or relies on others to get blood on their hands for him, and in return he gives them valuable information. he may know hand-to-hand combat but he is not versed in fighting with his abilities. his abilities are used as a defense mechanism and he's not too interested on using brute force to get what he wants and / or needs.

⤷ as expected, he's highly vengeful, and has a corrupt sense of justice. he could've simply had ARCHANGEL killed, but he realised that he would be taking the easy way out instead of showing remorse for his mistakes. maybe junho would've learned to forgive the man if more innocent civilians hadn't became collateral damage in more conflicts around the city when the aeternal was involved... but here we are.

⤷ worry not, junho is not completely heartless! he really does have a soft-spot for others who have been wronged by aeternals. he has been in their shoes, and regardless of what happened, he knows they deserve better than the reimbursement they were given. his stories harden his resolve and remind him that his cause his just... regardless of the methods.

⤷ not sure where else this would fit, but junho is secretly obsessed with their reflection. over the years with the use of their ability, shapeshifting has always made them feel like they have a tendency to forget what certain features of their own are actually theirs or if they've made a subtle change that they hadn't noticed until now. sometimes they doubt if their face is even their natural face, and they're trying to convince themself that it doesn't matter. they're a shapeshifter after all, their appearance changes at their own will anyway.

⤷ not sure where to place this either but junho is a fish parent ! they have 4 female bettas, their daughters, no real names and instead called by the color they are lol. they also have two males in separate tanks. they really like fish and often go to like the nearest pet store to contemplate buying another betta. they even have a tattoo dedicated to their first betta ( and its their only tattoo as well, they're a firm believer that their own tattoos should be meaningful ).

PLOTS / CONNECTIONS / THREADS ETC.,

⤷ no plots page ready bc i'm a flop... hopefully these ideas below will suffice for now but praying that within the week i'll be able to get an actual page done! i'm always up for brainstorming as well so if none of these fit don't worry!

fellow villains or morally grey muses for them to work with or befriend pls ...... could be someone newer to their circle or someone they have been acquainted with for a long time.

patients at the wellness center ... junho can and will help your muses fall asleep if they're having trouble. they can either come to the center themselves or his apartment is always open for anyone to come take a nap. just one tap to the wrist and he can get most ppl to sleep!

you shouldn't be friends with your therapists but this is not the real world so it should be ok if muses are "friends" with him!! it's probably better if they're not his patients but yk whatever snfjkdsnfjs we'll work out the kinks when we get there,,

sometimes they go to daemon to meet clients for information while shifted, sometimes they go to bet on fighters or sometimes they go simply for a drink. they're kinda the wrong person to trust with private information or drunken confessions but what better place to accidentally gain info than at a place were ppl get drunk......

he has resident complaints against him for dreamwalking. it's somewhat of a newer ability to him and he can control it maybe 70% of the time. sometimes he intends to go to a certain person's dreams and ends up completely different... either way it's considered an invasion of privacy... so... he's sorry? ( would be soooo down to have threads inside someone's dreams! )

they're usually very meticulous of shapeshifting in their apartment or in hidden alleys or public restrooms where no one would see them, but they're not perfect and mistakes are made. they can play it off as a recently developed minor ability but maybe they're suspicious of how natural their shift is... who is the real junho, the person they see leave their apartment or the person they just shifted into?

his "regular" social circle... like people who genuinely thinks they're a group of besties... and maybe somewhere deep deep deep deep down he also considers them friends. it's just a shame that he can't really trust them with his true personality but he cares for them more than he cares for most people he keeps at arms length for sure!

exes, fwbs, one night stands whatever... all i'll say is that junho can figuratively ( and literally... but they don't know that ) become whatever someone wants out of a partner, just know that if they were in a committed relationship at any point in time, junho was most likely using them due to any connections they may have anjfnhjsfb

hello ! bringing you my hot mess of a girl ZHONG LINA ( 22 ) who works as a gossip columnist @ the herald and abuses the hell out of her charm manipulation ( tldr she can effectively manipulate her own or the charisma of others to her liking. by doing so, she can either amplify her / their charm or do the exact opposite ). still have to add a few pages, but for now you'll find important stuff below the cut. a little red heart if you're looking to plot would be appreciated, thank you! x

I. SYNOPSIS

ZHONG LINA's story goes a little something like this ... she's born to a mother who's made herself quite the name in the dance industry. as someone so renowned, it's only a given that her daughters follow in her footsteps. yep, hers and not dad's because he's never been in the picture. anyway! both daughters learn dancing from as early as age three under the watchful eyes of their mother, though it quickly becomes apparent that lina's elder sister possesses an exceptional, possibly inert talent for the arts. lina wasn't terrible per se, but no matter how hard she worked, her mother would only sing praise to her sister (didn't help that she was scoring lead roles for stage plays left and right whereas lina was left with crumbs of supportive roles).

luck does have its own unpredictable ways though (re: mom is able to pull some strings), for lina's efforts land her a role that finally allows her to showcase the world her own talent. said role becomes crucial for her admission into sunhwa arts high school which pretty much marks the beginning of her demise. she moves countries, pushes herself way too hard all the damn time, practices day and night to keep up with her sister's seemingly natural talent, and somewhere along the path she discovers her powers: the ability to temporarily charm people.

she keeps her abilities to herself for obvious reasons, but you see — in an environment as competitive as her school, isn't it only natural for her to utilise her powers as best as she possibly can? so yes, of course she begins charming people around her. it serves her for a good while, helps her pass evaluations and lands her a dozen opportunities to advance her career. hell, she even receives a sprinkle of mommy's attention!

and then comes her downfall.

the worst possible thing happens: an injury that ruins not only her future but also forces her into a painfully long recovery phase. her sister stays thriving, lina is in shambles, and mother doesn't know what to do with a useless daughter. so there goes everything the poor girl has worked so hard for. she's young, and yet it feels as though she's wasted too many years on ballet to find something new ... start over. but dwelling over her misery isn't a choice either. so she ponders and ponders, stumbles upon the second chance collective and knows that it might be her only (second) chance at life ... as a gossip columnist (she swears she hasn't charmed her way into the position).

II. PERSONALITY

lina is ... cotton candy clouds on an orange tinted sky. she's the dainty glow across the horizon with a smile that's warm like spring's first sun rays and gentle like the caress of an afternoon breeze. she's laughter in twilight, sweet like honey drizzled over cinnamon toast. when you see her you think of delicate windchimes and sun catchers, of butterflies and golden clouds. lina is a walking ray of sunshine ... and fake as they come.

that's right — none of it is real. well, most of it isn't real. and why so? because 80% of the time she's charmed people enough to get away with things. she's a girl with expensive taste, and those expenses had to be paid if not gifted to her by somebody, no? not that her neighbours have ever questioned where all that money comes from. lina is an archangel a little damaged. growing up in a predominantly competitive environment has shaped her personality in complex ways. she's a perfectionist, pays way too much attention to detail and appearance, has a blunt communication style that can come off harsher than she intends to — but also grapples with vulnerability. she's very prone to second guessing other people's intentions and motives which makes socialising on a deeper level a little difficult for her ( how many genuine friends does she truly have ). and speaking of, the cunning minx knows how to hold grudges. now lina isn't terrible to have around per se! she can very much be fun and genuinely empathetic ... it just doesn't come as naturally to her as it should.

background summary:

he was born into a secretive cult of charmspeakers known as the hyeonmu order. this cult has existed since metahumans were first introduced to society and since then, they’ve been subtly influencing politics and society for their own gain

in the cult, members undergo strict training to perfect their tone, intonation, and emotional control

they practice extreme emotional discipline, like how to detach themselves from personal feelings to enhance the effectiveness of their charmspeak

all members have to swear an oath to keep the order’s existence and activities a secret (under penalty of severe consequences if they don’t keep their promise)

once the members’ abilities are fully developed, they are assigned to influential positions in society (some of them are even in the aeternal task force)

as he grew older, he became increasingly aware of how morally corrupt the order was and he also noticed that no one seemed to question their practices or motives

he even suspected that the order used mind control on its own members to maintain obedience and secrecy but it somehow didn’t work on him and that’s how he realized that, at some point, he obtained the (minor) ability to resist any form of mind control 

wow i feel like i’m just yapping and there’s still so much to say about his background??? 

anyway, i’ll try to keep it short: his mom is a high-ranking charmspeaker within the order and she’s quite respected for her abilities and her wisdom, but she does not have the highest position in the order, so she must still adhere to the rules and decisions of the order’s leadership

his relationship to her was always good <3 she always supported her son and recognized his potential but also his need for individuality

she advised him to leave and explore life outside the cult and find his own path and use his abilities for his own purposes, yadda yadda yadda 

she’s bad as hell ngl, she helped him build a new identity (surprise !! moon minjae is not his real name) to hide from the cult

WE’RE REACHING THE END GUYS, WE CHEERED !! so yeah with his mom’s help, he escaped the order at 19 and lived here and there and took odd jobs to survive

he only decided to move to silver line apartments a year ago because without the cult, he kinda missed the feeling of belonging and thought that he could find it in a community of metahumans (he’s also taking a risk by living there because the chances of the order finding him in 2cc is higher)

summarized backstory:

yoon jaeyeol grew up as the middle child in a large family, quickly developing middle child syndrome. he always felt like an imposter, as if he didn't quite belong. though his parents loved all their children, jaeyeol often felt invisible to them.

being a quiet kid only made him fade more into the background, harming his self-image. it was as if he didn't even exist. when his main ability eventually manifested, jaeyeol took it as a sign that he was meant to stay unseen.

though jaeyeol wanted to be noticed by his family, he eventually grew accustomed to being invisible and used his ability to his advantage, hiding from his family whenever he wanted to be alone.

most of the time, they were embarrassing and unbearable to be around, so coming home late or staying invisible in his room became the norm.

the moment he turned 18, jaeyeol moved out without telling his family where he was going. they keep trying to locate him, but he never allows them to get close. he calls them occasionally, but only on special occasions like their birthdays.

he hasn't seen his family face-to-face since he moved out, and he doesn't plan on changing that anytime soon.

a bit more info about jaeyeol:

jaeyeol prefers to go by his alias, zed. it's a nickname he gave himself when he was trying to become part of the aeternals. even after being rejected, he decided to keep the name and now uses it at work as a news journalist.

he works at the herald, often roaming around town to report on odd stories, many of which he doubts are even worth reporting.

his neighbors frequently complain about their stuff going missing, unaware that jaeyeol lives by the rule: finders keepers.

jaeyeol's main ability is invisibility, complemented by his minor ability of mimicry. both powers have made him feel lost and out of place. he struggles with his self-image and self-worth, constantly questioning who he truly is.

oddly enough, jaeyeol has a peculiar obsession with the bakery next door. he's a regular and eats there every single day. if he doesn't get his favorite bread daily, he becomes grumpy and takes it out on his peers.

he's an introvert who prefers to stay unseen, finding it easier to be alone than to deal with other people and their issues. unfortunately for him, others interpret his silence as an invitation to overshare and talk nonstop around him, but he hasn't made any effort to change this narrative either.

when people in positions of power and privilege get to do whatever they want with close to no consequences, of course you get bitches like jaeyi! very much inspired by the seven in the boys, she's kinda human garbage. basically a white man in congress.

really honestly only ends up an aeternal because it's good for optics & she's got a cute power. who doesn't love a family of aeternals + someone who drops by a gender reveal and makes sure the skies are clear for whatever confetti pop you wanna do, right? she's not under any delusions she's gonna singlehandedly eradicate all crime in eden. sometimes we just need the pretty bitches for photo ops!

a building of people ends up collateral damage, and it's covered up well enough. jaeyi blames the late evacuation notice, but the damage is done. she's not losing much sleep over it, because their families get their bereavement payout. unfortunately for her, her psychiatric clinic was in that building, and no other sane doctor would be on board with her medication regimen. the next doctor she sees ends up changing her meds and suggesting she go to therapy.

unfortunately, rawdogging mental health is nawt it for someone whose emotions affect her power. she ends up doing too much/little at the worst times, and decides to take a little step back. not a proper hiatus, but she's not being assigned to missions (not like she was doing much of those anyw...) and focusing on her little brand deals, which is where 2cc comes in! no better way to put her money where her mouth is than to actually live in silver line, right?

comes off really fucking artificial cause. well. she fuckin is! look at her for a second too long and she's whipping out a headshot like 'do u want a photo or an autograph????' something uncanny and fake as hell about that smile she's giving...

not j-lo levels of 'don't look me in the eye', but she's also actively avoiding having to interact with other tenants unless it's good for her public image. she's got nothin in common with anyone, and she doesn't want to have to smile and make small talk anymore than is necessary.

currently being sued for the building damage thing, but it's being taken care of by the task force. like can we pleaseeeeee move on omg they're already dead. wtf's she supposed to do about it...??? she can't raise the dead. they're barking up the wrong tree.

as evidenced by the above, yeah. has basically never had to deal with the consequences of her actions, and the kind of person who can't even fathom why SHE shouldn't be top priority. you can tell she's grown up privileged which makes her extremely removed from others' realities.

mommy and daddy issues mean she's always in need of external validation because she's absolutely unable to be kind to and regulate herself... inner child screaming crying wailing etc etc. positive attention only, plz!!!! she can only like herself if others like her, but that's real tough considering.... would lie if she feels left out and wants to fit in.

THE BASICS . . . !

25 years old, born in '99, she/they any/every one is fine !

in #002 because she likes the privacy/access to the community garden and she wanted to be out of the way, anyways

fell into working as an underground bouncer @ daemon due to her abilities/the connections she'd made over the years, but you can see her doing stuff all over the club, sometimes she helps make drinks, sometimes she's backstage directing fighters around, etc.

she's known as KNIGHT around daemon or just if you're involved with her anywhere outside of the collective, she usually doesn't give out her real name, doesn't see the point

has the ability of darkness manipulation, which usually means she can turn a whole room dark if there's any kind of darkness she can build off of in the first place. uses shadows like it's the consistency of clay, usually turns them into weapons/armor to cover herself in fights or altercations. they can be zapped out by any kind of light and only last a few minutes, anyways, usually really shadowy/translucent even if when formed they've got a force to them, kind of similar to water !

she has shadow form, which allows her to become made of shadows, no longer solid and become transparent, and usually it starts in her hands whenever she's using her ability and spreads the longer the duration she's using it

this leads to her shadow teleportation, which allows her to teleport to another shadow she can see within sight once she's fully in shadow form. it gets difficult to become fully solid again if she's in shadow form too long/is teleporting too much, so she doesn't do it often/for more than she needs to

her shadow memory lets her get pieces of sound/sight/smell/emotion of anything that's been within the darkness in the last hour, and it's usually pretty disjointed/she's unable to piece together much other than context clues. it's cleared with light or if the duration of time has passed

maybe she's not too talkative, but she's just been through a lot and she has Walls up, mostly finds peace through gardening/tending to her flowers, but it also leads to her pretty quickfire temper if you mess with them/something she cares about

very protective, outspoken, no nonsense, likes fighting for what she cares for because if she doesn't who else will !!

THE BACKSTORY . . . !

when she's younger, she doesn't understand that when she hides in the shadows, she becomes one with them. she loses sense of her physical form and becomes one with the darkness, which she hears the whispers of other voices, of other moments, left behind for her to find like words in a book, picking up the pieces but not knowing what to do with what's left, but feeling.. peace in that

her father is convinced, as long as she's known him, that he's meant to be an aeternal, but his power of darkness generation just means their house is always dark and he really can't do much with it, and it always ends up falling apart. he tries and tries and keeps failing until he finally gets fed up and instead of just.. being her dad he just decides to go ahead and be a villain about it !

starts getting into a lot of trouble to try and get some kind of attention after failing so much, growing up she just expects him to either not come home/be unavailable/she's throwing him a sandwich her mom made out of the window as he's on the run, etc

so it's mostly just her and her mom until her mom gets fed up with it and Leaves.. right when she graduates high school . but doesn't take her with her because she just reminds her of her dad. she just kind of coasts for awhile by herself with her father checking in/sending money every now and then and its Cool . until he gets put into the correctional facility

she tries to work a lot of odd jobs because she didn't really have plans past that, a mechanic and a grocery store attendant and all sort of things but she just can't keep up with the house and so she sells it for extra money and moves into the second chance collective. it's her only other option, and she figures if this is what she can do for some cheap rent and some peace and quiet, then..

stumbles across daemon and the issue she has is that her name sparks a lot of recognition with people who knew her dad/were fucked over by her dad/wronged by her dad and so she has to deal with the Aftermath, and since she was an only child and she hasn't heard from her mom in years well. she's dealing with that on her own !

so she starts working as an underground bouncer, because apparently her father had run up quite a tab at daemon, and starts trying to pay back/do work for the people who still have beef with him herself, and starts going by KNIGHT. the fights intrigue her, she gets to use her powers more often, starts refining it into something she's used to/feels more in control of, and she gets paid doing it !

she doesn't really feel aligned to good or evil or whatever, she just needs money and something to fill up her time and when she's not at daemon she's just trying to live a Normal life, and when she joined she noticed numerous empty plots in the garden and was like. well i'll fix these too . and started filling them with all kinds of flowers ! it's really cathartic and she likes taking care of something/seeing results and it Works

so she's KNIGHT at daemon and around people she doesn't really want to know that she's her father's daughter, but it's been kind of getting around anyways, and what she really cares about is just living a peaceful life.. she keeps trying to stay out of trouble but it just keeps finding her ! what's a girl to do.. she just wants to know how her father is still getting into so much shit even though he's in there (she still hasn't gone to visit him, don't ask !!!!)

THE PLOTS . . . !

you fight a lot at daemon and gyuri is like.. lowkey always rooting for you because your fights are always interesting and she can appreciate your form . maybe one day she'll fight too but she likes asking you questions about what it's like/how it feels. maybe you can convince her one day

she had to remove you from daemon one time and you run into each other at the collective/somewhere else and shes like .. sorry i was doing my job .. do you want like ice cream or something . my treat

she's not really a bartender at daemon but sometimes when it's slammed she makes a few drinks on the side and one time she made you something and you've never had it taste like that again so you find her again guarding a door somewhere and so she keeps making you Your Drink special whenever you come in

you frequent the community garden at the collective/are into gardening too and you both always just silently garden/plant together and you share that together and maybe you don't even talk much . maybe you just enjoy the flowers but gyuri like, buys you seeds and tends to your stuff without messing it up whenever you need it . maybe you're just in the garden a lot and you always see each other in there and she tells you about her flowers if you wanna listen (she has never talked that much in her life)

you're the person who's making so many resident complaints about her ?? something petty like she tracks dirt on the floor or the room's always too dark whenever she's in it and there's just running beef between you two for no real reason but it keeps turning into a bunch of petty stuff anyways that neither of you can really stop

heyyy part 2 except this time i'm trying to be shorter dear god. this is my second muse eunjae, cloudstepping her way through life and vibes tbqh. she's the younger and cooler of the moon twins at #301. recently on a bit of a reckless & self destructive streak after spending most of her life trussed up in her family's trophy case. see under the cut for more info, and like this post if you'd like to plot & i'll reach out if we aren't already talking!

she/her for convenience but any pronouns really. her pronouns aren't indicative of her gender (to her!) anyways, so she dgaf how people refer to her

cloud manipulation is v much what it says on the tin. she can manifest cloud bodies from existing moisture through some science that i shamefully don't 100% understand.

cold/dry environments are v detrimental to her abilities. they make it difficult, if not impossible, for her to use her powers. if she pushes herself anyway, it very quickly becomes painful

minor ability: cloudwalking ! allows her some minor "flight," though it's very contingent on her focus and she constantly needs to be on the move from one cloud to another bc they can't sustain her weight for long.

aesthetic ability but otherwise....not a lot of useful applications. thank god, she thinks

the journey so far:

was a gifted ballet dancer in her youth

the tldr is that her parents were hoping that she and her twin would both be gifted with precognitive abilities, something to bring some respect to the family name yk. instead, ironically, she manifests clouds.

it's a bit of a slap to the face, she has clouded vision, etc etc. it honestly checks out: she only got into ballet bc she saw how proud her mother was of her, and that was all that defined her for a while. she never had anything self defined for a v long time. anything that could have been considered hers, she always shared with her twin (hey seonjae @/recollectionblue). formless, faceless, aimless, like of course you're cloud aligned 🫵

at least after she manifests her ability, she's able to work it into her routines. the audiences go wilddd they love watching her dance on clouds, sooo light and graceless and lovely, and she's so deep in that safety blanket of approval that she doesn't really think to look for anything else.

she gets separated from her twin eventually bc their parents are assholes. she doesn't even hear about it, cities away training for the big leagues; by the time she finally does, he's gone and no one will tell her how to find him. their parents say that seonjae went somewhere that can help him with his powers. they say that she can't distract him, just like she can't let this distract from her performance. they say he wanted to go.

it doesn't sit right with her. that is her TWIN she can literally feel smth is wrong. but at the same time, what does she know? he's the one who was gifted with precognition, he's the older twin, how can she possibly imagine the pressure he must be under?? what it must be like??

so she stays and keeps her parents happy. keeps performing and tries to ignore the growing weight in her chest.

in the middle of one of her big performances, she feels it: something's gone wrong with seonjae. she doesn't know what it is, but she suddenly knows so clearly that she has to get out of here, she has to find him.

so, mid-air, she lets go and falls. shatters her ankle, successfully puts herself out of commission. her mother is inconsolable!!!!!

she's been staying at silver line for a couple of years now, but she only recently found seonjae in a bad way. she practically dragged him into staying at silver line with her where she can keep an eye on him.

very much the type to nag (sorry for being her mother's daughter ough) but hypocritical about it. every other week, she's in daemon joining fights ( as suan ) purely for the adrenaline rush and feeling like she has more agency over herself and her body. maybe if she hadn't spent 85% of her life both metaphorically and literally posing for stages and upkeeping a physically pristine image, she'd go about this more......erm.......well adjustedly, but . that is not the case rip.

predictably always banged up in some kind of way. she tries to avoid face injuries bc she can't explain that away to her ballet students.

current arc is v much inspired by the philosophy of kintsugi pottery. mostly, she's sick of smoothing over her feelings every time she feels something remotely unpleasant. maybe she wants to be a little fucked up a little chipped a little deranged! and maybe she wants to stop pretending that those messier nastier parts of her don't exist!

he also has the ability of clairvoyance, which allows him to locate people/places/objects through Intense Concentration that are not close to him and/or just to See their immediate environment. usually better if he's seen it himself in person, he can Try if he's given a photo, he's just usually pretty off or just plain wrong !

he is Always wearing gloves and usually is all covered up, and physical contact is just a big No ! for him out of his fear of getting triggered for a vision

usually pretty quiet/keeps to himself/is always listening to music because it is one of his Comfort Things and if you do see him, he's either using suppressants/substances to numb himself in order to avoid the Visions but it doesn't always completely get rid of them, anyways, but his distance/general spaciness is probably because he is just Out of It !

THE BACKSTORY . . . !

as soon as he develops his powers it's very much Not Okay. the weight of seeing things happen in intervals where he either doesn't know 1) when it will happen or 2) seconds before it does renders him completely frozen in his decisions. he witnesses them change three, four, ten times in different forms of visions and gets so swept up in it all he often confuses visions for memory, memory for visions, as he always sees them in first person

he doesn't tell anyone at first, but it starts small, he doesn't want to go to school, doesn't want to go outside. he starts shying away from physical touch and affection, and limits conversations. starts wearing clothes that cover all of his skin, and gloves, and it isn't long before it starts causing Issues because he can't just completely Stop Everything to hide in his room

the only thing that really brings him solace is listening to music, and so he starts writing/making his own to kind of explore his thoughts/experiences, because the noise fills up his mind in a way that feels better than empty/just full of visions. it's the only thing that doesn't cause it to happen for him, most of the time! he starts posting his music online under the alias FLASHDRAGON, but he's really in and out about it, doesn't really pay attention to if anything kicks off (though some of it does!)

since they develop around middle school, it becomes evident really quickly that seonjae is convinced this is more of a nightmare than the blessing his parents think it is, and by the time he graduates high school his mother is Done with having to accommodate him/the fact that he can barely do anything or talk to anyone and sends him to be with his aunt, farther out from the city and away from everything he's known

he's felt like a burden for years, and figures it's probably better even though leaving his twin eunjae behind is one of the hardest things he's ever done, even though he's convinced its the better thing to do

things with his aunt go well for awhile until they don't, and his aunt really wants nothing to do with him, either. he doesn't help around the house, doesn't make money, and doesn't go out, either, and fed up from years of just Being a Burden and Knowing It, he ends up leaving in the middle of the night

up until then, he's been pretty adamant on finding something to take to suppress his ability to try and function, but it doesn't always completely take his visions away, maybe lessens the frequency of them at best, but he still can't touch objects/people without usually at least getting one

they're expensive, and usually if he can't get his hands on something to nullify his ability, he usually turns to absolutely anything else to try and handle it, and doesn't care about the effects as long as it makes it easier to deal with the Visions

sometimes he pays for it using his clairvoyance to find something/somebody for those he's getting it from, but it's all he has to go off of as he kind of works his way around/surfs couches/sleeps on park benches. he can't keep jobs and he can't keep a place without any money and he needs it for the suppressants, so he does what he can to get by

minji, who 100% prefers the name mimi, is an.. interesting one! she first developed her ability when she was 7 years old. her parents do not have any abilities, and her ability is a direct descent of her grandmother, who was a famous scientist who did research on clones, and used her own ability to test the limits.

she was always a nervous child, but it only got worse after the death of her grandmother, who she was extremely close with. it happened when she was 6 years old, which is also when thoughts of her having an anxiety disorder manifested as rumours within her family. however, she was a bit too young to get diagnosed.

once her ability manifested, she felt herself spiralling with issues of identity, along with trying to figure out herself and what she wanted to do — who she wanted to be. besides her identity crisis she had ( & still has ) once a day, she’s a pretty happy and go-lucky person.

she grew up extremely interested in journalism, and with the help of her other abilities ( & annoying clones she could never control ), it was easy to find things out about people, and also discover her talent for reporting and writing. she was quick to join her school’s newspaper, and became the top columnist every year.

it’s pretty hard to control her abilities. her minor abilities manifested at different times: her first one at 10, and her second one at 16.

she was diagnosed with anxiety at 10 with the discovery of her 1st minor ability, and later diagnosed with adhd, which is a primary reason for her constantly being scattered and all over the place.

she found school to be appropriately challenging. she was always the academic weapon — the one everyone went to for tutoring or to ask for answers, and the one who was destined for greatness. a christiane amanpour. a journalist to bring change and report on the world and what was really going on. graduating a year early also helped with her thoughts of a successful future.

and then… she got accepted to harvard. it had been a rash decision — a slightly manic episode where she applied to the international school where she believed she would never get in. but she did, with a full-ride. and soon enough, she was a harvard student. and honestly, her time at harvard had been the best time of her life. she had graduated rather highly in her class, and was able to receive an entire master’s degree in only a year after receiving her bachelor’s degree — which leads her to now.

recently moved back to korea, she believed that finding a job would be pretty easy. she was a graduate of harvard with a master’s degree, and had a few notable internships under her belt. but what she hadn’t realised is that… becoming a reporter wasn’t easy when all anyone ever cared about was the aeternals.

if she wasn’t writing about the latest gossip about the aeternals, her columns got little-to-no attention. she wants to write something big, something that matters — not the egotistical heroes their society glorifies. but… no one else wants to read about that. so, with her degree somewhat thrown down the drain, she stays at silver line, hoping for her big break.

she took a waitressing job at hi-dine in order to help pay for her bills, and put out numerous ads for a roommate. she tries her best to keep her cloning a secret, as it is more of a nuisance than a beloved ability.

she is easily stressed, especially with her anxiety disorder, which causes her clones to appear, and she doesn’t really like them. they act more like sisters than clones, and will bother her or help her depending on their mood.

she is also very absent-minded at times and clumsy. she’s very expressive with her emotions and her face, and is always running around somewhere. she is typically a little late to things… but always tries her best to be on time! she gets lost easily as well, and can sometimes spoil things without even thinking of them ( think of tom holland always spoiling spiderman or marvel secrets ).

this is a simple tl;dr of her powers as i have a page of a detailed explanation of her abilities. however, this will have enough information for you to be able to grasp them!

major ability — cloning: she can clone herself, pretty much! her clones are separate from her and have their own thoughts, feelings, and emotions. they are a bit like super detailed holograms, and usually can stay at most for 2-5 hours. she cannot control this, however, and is typically only able to manifest them when she’s stressed out.

minor ability #1 — supernatural precognition: basically, the ability to see the future. however, she can see anyone’s future within a 200-meter radius of her and can not know if it’s hers or someone else’s future unless they are shown in the vision she sees. she can also only see their future until the end of the day.

minor ability #2 — telepathy: she can hear other people’s thoughts, and in theory, speak to people with her mind. however, she has never been able to do that before. anyone within a 200-meter radius of her can hear her thoughts, and she can hear theirs. comes in handy for her job!

there’s a BUNCH of plot ideas floating in this big head of mine, and i am always down to plot something from scratch, but this is what i’m thinking of:

connections wise: best friends who grew apart ( mainly due to mimi moving for college ), neighbours who always forget her name, found family relationships, ex-best friends who hate each other, friendly rivalry, coworkers @ the herald she works with or rival reporters that don’t get along, hi-dine staff who also hate their jobs, ex-aeternal or almost aeternal who wants their spotlight but she would rather die than talk to them, regulars at hi-dine she loves & hates, etc!!

plot ideas just for fun && will be added to or changed when i can remember to do so:

mimi learns a really interesting secret about you and you’re trying to do everything in your power to keep her from writing about it.

but also, mimi learns a really devastating secret about you and is trying to keep it from you that she knows about it!!

it’s late and you come into hi-dine as the only customer and keep bothering her to chat but she needs the extra tips and plays therapist.

she has to interview you for her column and is really not looking forward to it bc she thinks you’re insufferable but you’re actually not as bad as she thought.

you have a bad experience with an aeternal and are trying to expose them with mimi’s help.

there’s workplace drama and you and mimi spend an entire manic, sleepless night trying to get down to the bottom of it.

instead of taking blockers for an important event, mimi accidentally takes a kicker without realising and can’t stop mass producing clones which makes her inconsolable and allows you to find her.

her clone gets out without her knowledge for a few hours and goes out with you, and you see mimi a few days after asking for another date. but she has absolutely no clue who you are.

mimi sees your future one day and is convinced something terrible is going to happen to you today, but she’s had the same vision for 2 months and is tired of it and decides to confront you for being so careless!!

a random child is dropped off at mimi’s door and she’s ready to become a mother until you ask her to return your niece/nephew to you.

mimi’s roommate is gone for the night and there’s a huge bug in her house she can’t get rid of and ends up practically tackling your muse to help.

his mother was a kickass aeternal named gale who was super popular but she retired to give birth to him (a great shame, many would say). the public kind of hated his dad for it tbh

the moment his dad found out he inherited her powers, he made sure to raise him to be a proper superhero even though his mom wanted him to live a normal life instead

he was just a kid though so he was like of course i want to be a cool crime-fighting superhero!!!

and to his dad's credit, haein did get pretty damn good at controlling his powers, learning from watching old recordings of his mom at work

everything seemed to be going his way, strong powers, good reputation, pretty face, but everything went to shit the year before he was set to become an official aeternal

his mother passed away shielding citizens from an explosion. it was the perfect heroic death for someone like her, everyone said

haein hated that. why did she have to die for something like that? for people like that? someone as invincible and cool as her shouldn't have died at all

his father was devastated, and haein lost his sense of self as the deadline for his induction drew closer and closer

the day comes and he feels like throwing up- he does, actually. all over the floor as the onlookers pick up their jaws just to scream in terror as the villains fired at them. thankfully another aeternal had been with him and he managed to fight them off and save the civilians, but haein's reputation was stained forever

the son that the people's beloved aeternal gale had given up her career for was a fucking loser.

he's promptly removed from the group after that, and after over two years of hiding from the reporters, he seems to have faded into obscurity

his father has gone back to pestering him to not give up on being a hero, but just the thought of it makes him sick now. he joined the collective only to get his dad off his back, and has no intention of progressing this career at all. sucks to suck.

THE BASICS !! ⭒ born in vancouver, canada, on one of the hottest summer days ever - which is ironic, truly, considering how bad he hates the weather. ⭒ mostly known as jake, though he always secretly preferred to be called hansol. ⭒ though he knew of the gene, he still happened to be a late bloomer: got it in the middle of math class, spurted silky web threads all over the hair of his crush and became a social reject after that! ⭒ his ability is arachnid physiology, by the way. ⭒ which, as you can imagine, didn't do well with people considering that spiders are apparently enemy number one of the state! ⭒ regardless, he somehow got through high school: the lack of party invites forced him to focus more on his studies, which ultimately made him graduate with honours. ⭒ and there was the scholarship too - thank god for it, considering how broke his parents were. ⭒ ( real nice folks, by the way. ) ⭒ so went to college in software engineering and his parents moved back to south korea. it was fine, totally. got amazing grades until he started to slip ( which coincidentally happened when he began to play superhero with his friends at night. ⭒ and instead of studying, naturally, he thought it would be a good idea to hack into his grade portals to turn his d's into a's. ⭒ like, honestly, it worked for a month or two. until someone noticed, until he got expelled. ⭒ though truthfully, he honestly didn't care much for school anyways. his only ever felt real drive when perched over his desk at night, working on engineering his own suit: he would get scraps he'd find in mechanical engineering labs, he would spend nights dissecting little gadgets and incorporating them in his suits. he would spend a lot of time with spiders, too - though he hated them at first, he grew to love them. they were like him in more ways than one. so he would study them until he could fully and truly become them.

⭒ he spent the next year or so in vancouver doing just that: engineering his suit, swinging around buildings, and fighting petty ( and not so petty ! ) crimes behind his mask. ⭒ he also conveniently forgot to tell his parents about the whole college thing. THE PRESENT . . . ISH !!

⭒ he rushes to south korea upon hearing that his mother is sick : they tell him that it isn't bad over the phone, but when he first visits her, he can see how much she has wilted in the cold hospital bed. ⭒ he doesn't hate seoul because it sucks - he hates it because he can feel it reject him. it doesn't feel like vancouver : he doesn't know each and every corner of the city, he doesn't understand the intricacies of it. ⭒ his parents are still under the impression that he attends school in software engineering, that he has a stable job, that he isn't late on rent every . single . month . ⭒ it takes him a hot minute to adjust, but soon enough he finds himself swinging between the tall buildings of the city. people begin to recognize him here and there, and while most of them talk about him like he is a nuisance (considering the damage he often causes when fighting crime), he still does some good. ⭒ maybe it isn't so bad, after all. maybe with time, it will get better. he has always preferred to be called hansol, anyways.

born to a long generation of aeternals, it was only fitting (and expected) that cha ryeong would follow in the footsteps of literally each of his ancestors and family members in becoming an aeternal.

for some reason, the cha family always received a little more glory than usual. most chalk it up to the fact that the family lineage has been a strong one with generation after generation of successful aeternals who have served with fantastic results through each of their time.

nowadays, the cha family lives with high prestige and are akin to celebrities with how well-known they've become even amassing a global audience for the work they've done nationally and international when lending assistance to nearby countries in times of need.

cha ryeong's abilities manifest around the typical age that powers are seen and recognized in the cha family around 10 years of age. it does come as a surprise when he shows abilities reminiscent of his great-great-great grandfather who had been one of the more renowned family members for the legacy he left behind.

following the first show of his abilities, cha ryeong is thrust head on into the world of training to become an aeternal. his parents keep him from the spotlight until he makes his debut into society passing the selections of the few trainees that get accepted every year at the academy.

his entire time at the academy and training goes smoothly and is attributed to him being a cha – all family members having displayed extraordinary control over their powers from a young age and succeeding naturally at anything to put their minds to.

two months following his 24th birthday – into the new year – with his exceptional performance and a few words of influence from his family, cha ryeong is accepted as a recruit to become part of the field combat team.

ryeong goes above and beyond the expectations that everyone seems to have. the only problem that seems to arise is that he's aggressively too independent when it comes to getting the job done because of his need to be on top (where he could probably do better with teamwork). regardless, he's compliant at best when it comes to making sure he doesn't get in the way of the overall mission and thus gets away with it a little more than he should due to the results he produces.

things go awry in cha ryeong's second year however when a mission goes wrong. during an evacuation taking place when a villain creates earthquakes, something devastating happens however no one present at that time steps forward to tell the true and full story.

the public is left to come to their own conclusions and speculations when the academy suddenly announces the withdrawal of cha ryeong while disclosing the death of an aeternal who had been present at the scene — the details kept private for the sake of their family.

many people believed that the cha family had a hand in shutting down all news outlets before they could release any articles that would harm their reputation while believing they sued any publishers that had released something before going completely silent.

what others find even more strange is the fact that the other two aeternals who had been present at the scene still haven't stepped up to make any statements about what truly happened that unfateful day. however, whenever asked about cha ryeong their aversion at the mere mention of his name was enough for people to begin with wild speculations again.

with the amount of limelight the cha family already receives on the usual, this situation only pushed ryeong further into the eye of the public. the attention quickly and controversially put him on the map as a hot celebrity topic as long as the full story continued to remain unknown.

currently the public is split between giving ryeong a second chance while the other half has stuck to villainizing him for something they're not even sure of. this has led to a barrage of paparazzi and media outlets looking to get information from ryeong.

cha ryeong's dismissal from the force is seen as the biggest disgrace the family lineage has faced in decades considering everyone had expected him to follow in the steps of the legacy his great great great grandfather left behind.

with the amount of internalized and unprocessed anger ryeong still has, he's learned how to channel and use the fights at daemon as his outlet while he tries to figure out what his next steps are and to find a new start.

the nams have always been pretty average. on paper, in speech, through hearsay. they have four sons, they run a ginseng farm that's been passed down for generations and most importantly, they get by. it's the circle of life 🦁

until son #2 right here complains to mum that he's been seeing double... despite the thick nobita glasses he's prescribed yearly. he can also feel the knitting yarn coiling around his fingers from grandma's corner of the living room when he's looking at her a little too long, and stumbles on his feet from the makgeolli they served up during chuseok even when he's well-behaved enough not to ask his older brother for a sip

so mum and dad sit him down for The Talk. sensory scrying's not a difficult ability to hide, which dad's side of the family are known to be carriers of. he learns that the major consequences of it hit his great great grandfather's, who was wrongly accused when he had reported a crime he saw through scrying. hence the living like your average joes... what good does scrying give anyway?

not to start yapping about his lil moral dilemma (thank u socrates) but it's also something that passes yul's mind until today. how much of a person should he be able to read into without feeling like he's invading their privacy, how much guilt does he have to live with when he sees something that's avoidable in theory but there's no way for him to intervene and prevent it because he has no control of his host?

which is why he uses it mostly to his own advantage and ultimately do well in school. it's easy in theory: get good grades, get accepted into a good uni and make his family proud. seonyul becomes the golden child of the family because he studies smart (see: listens in to the teachers' pre-assessment meeting, looks at the smartest kid in class to get a glimpse of their multi choice answers) and not hard, but as he says it's the results that matter in the end 😎

enter country boy who's trying to make it big in eden. got the whole town putting up banners with his face when he makes it to nsnu a la queen of tears' baek hyunwoo, geumsan's pride and joy! he's jumped into the big pond now, catching bigger fish and better opportunities. he enrols into a structural engineering degree because well... it sounds pretty impressive on paper :-)

but he's quickly disillusioned by this whole aeternals thing going on, bc lets be real (1) would you still want to be one if it wasn't for the glitz and glamour and (2) is it rly as noble as people make it to be. seonyul's pretty happy where he is — vibes are biology classes in undergrad where you can see the clear distinction between those wanting to pursue pre-med and those who just want to learn a bit more about mitochondria being the powerhouse of the cell (yul is clearly the latter.) he's not looking to ever become a trainee, not in saying that someone can't have blue sky dreams but on the other hand, you've gotta know your limits (practically and financially)

worked for an engineering firm as a grad for just shy of two years after graduation, which he completely hated (along with 75% of his undergrad degree, but he can't tell his proud parents that he's struggling out here... wdym the backbone of the family's given up after all the opportunities that's been given to him) and it's timely when he sees an opening for a photographer at the herald. if he can't go home, at the very least he could pick up something he enjoys doing

so he becomes one of those extremely lucky bitches who get to make a career out of what they love (i personally can't relate). unfortunately a bit of an art hoe, dabbles in photography because while he sees and experiences a lot of things through scrying, it's difficult to preserve the memory. it's the tangibility and longevity of it that he likes. so yeah *bridge to terabithia vc* take a photo, it'll last longer

all in all seonyul's here for the vibez and for the ride... he's just a 24yo teenager trying to get through another day without calling home, being late on rent, getting another noise complaint, or having to deal with the repercussions of his scrying 😌🙏

personality

has a special place waiting for him in hell (everything but the last bullet point tq. he has some manners) / generally keeps to himself and only says what's needed. which oftentimes comes as blunt and unnecessary but he likes to think he's being efficient yknow / kinda petty... sry... will hold a grudge even for the little things, an eye for an eye etcetc / if he doesn't look at u while in conversation pls know it's not bc he's not respecting u... he just doesn't want to get into your head. the scries can come through prolonged contact, and it's not something he can switch off easily / but he's very loyal to those he deems close! not entirely heartless i promise. he just needs to warm up and find some people in the same wavelength, and pls don't rain on his parade when your definition of failure is his family's definition of success :-)

golden question.. where can you usually find seonyul? nite rite (those milk cream buns are to die for... maybe that's why he's so tall) / gg pc bang (one more round turns into five and now it's 4am) / hangang cinema (watching pretentious af movies for the cinematography... who cares ab the plot as long as it's ✨pretty✨. bonus points if you can get him a sneaky lil disc thru ur aeternals connections) / daemon (look out for the rly tall dude holding cold hard cash... yes he's betting on the fighters. what about it)

schoolmates @ nsnu (anyone he shared classes with.. group projects.. people he might've scried to get answers for an assignment) / coworkers @ the herald (seonyul hurry up w the editing nobody cares if that one pixel looks off...)

people who frequent the level 6 rec rooms (he may or may not judge who you main... he can see even if he's not physically there!) / whoever made one of the 29 resident complaints he's received (you're sick of listening to redmercedes and von dutch for the 894363th time this week) / someone who's been leaving the cans of monster in front of his door as requested (and a lil friendship brewing from that.. on the contrary, it could go totally wrong!)
