yuzu still remembers how she’s first seen the girl on tv as she arrived in seoul. watching the show back then with only mild interest and slight curiosity for the entertainment industry, she’d never have imagined herself in this situation now. both of them debuted artists and attending the same party. 

doyeon looked stunning in her costume and even prettier in real life. 

in her disguise, yuzu expected she would have felt more secure and confident. seeing as she embodied the personification of grace and self-assurance, she should get her shit together and act like the confident young woman she was supposed to represent. after all joker was a symbol of charm and suaveness.

but doyeon was coming right her way and suddenly yuzu felt anything but suave. “drinks-,” she thus speaks up like an idiot as she toasts her glass to the senior artist. “uhm I mean- cheers....” a long moment of silence follows in which yuzu is about ready to disappear into thin air.

vanessa wants to do a monthly vlive. that's what she decides after the two other ones she's done before. she likes it, a lot more than she expected; it's fun, easy for her-- a good way to interact with the fans (especially when they're trapped with little to work on, but she won't say that out in fear of jinxing it). for this episode, she doesn't really have much all planned either.

so when she's set up, starting the video with her usual relaxed, somewhat tired demeanor, she's completely shocked when the door opens up-- only minutes after she's started. for a moment, she's a little stupefied, and she's sure it shows on her face, but sohee's appearance has her grinning wide and happy.

"look we have a guest~~" she sings, clapping her hands as she tugs over another chair for sohee. seeing the sweater that she had gifted the other has her grinning happily, and she can't help how happy she is at the other's appearance. "wah, i'm so happy. k.arma's kiyeon? here? with me? i'm so honored." she can't help but reach out for a hug, clutching the other girl to her as she happily settles back in front of the camera. she can see the comments going wild, but she looks over to see what sohee's brought.

"what? food? whoa." she's surprised, but utterly thankful for sohee's kindness and thoughts. she can feel her stomach grumble at the thought of food. "you're an angel, kiyeonnie~~ i didn't eat much earlier." she pouts cutely at the other.

they're munching and eating, and vanessa can't help but stare fondly at sohee as she sings a bit of song requests (she's belting out those disney high notes, and vanessa can't help but to stop eating to give her a wordless applause, shooting a thumbs up at the camera). "our kiyeon is no joke. have you streamed her show yourself cover? you better~ should we play it?" she teases, wiggling her brows at the camera and then at sohee cutely. it's fun with sohee, even if she blushes and squirms at sohee revealing the origins behind the sweater she had gifted. she lets out long groans as she speaks, hiding her face as she laughs. "it's cute though, isn't it?" she manages, reaching out to lightly tug at the carrot hoodie strings. "comment hearts if you think it does!”

at thirty minutes, vanessa hears noise at the door. glancing over curiously, she blinks as she's see someone outside through the window, and for a moment-- she's very, very confused. when the door opens-- she lets out a shocked noise, before breaking out into laughter.

"who is this, who are you?" she can't help but laugh. "sejeong? does that say sejeong? wah..." she knows it isn't sejeong-- trapped away at filming as she is, so she can't stop giggling at the imposter. it's silly, and from the voice alone she knows it's jinah. it's cute, sweet-- they miss the girl when she's away, and she's happy to know she isn't the only one missing sejeong's presence. she smiles fondly at jinah’s antics and attempts at sejeong-- she’s pretty good, vanessa will admit. it does make her miss the girl even more though, so she brings her phone close, peering at it briefly before looking back to the comments.

“should we call? let’s call sejeong,” she shoots a glance at jinah teasingly, wiggling her brows. a quick call to sejeong chooses to be futile, as it goes to voicemail and vanessa hums. “ah, maybe we do have sejeong here all along?” she muses, chuckling as she reaches out in an attempt to playfully ruffle jinah’s hair, like she’d do to sejeong normally. “our sejeonggie~”

vanessa thinks it’s fun with more than one person. there’s a lot of fun to be had with sohee and jinah-- and she’s grinning fondly at them when she sees something pop out from the corner of her eye near the door. she’s quick to look over, and she can only beam with a wide grin at doyeon’s face peeking out from the window. she watches the other wave for a moment, amused and grinning-- probably looking very distracted to the vlive viewers. she moves to point towards the door, turning to the camera with a happy laugh. “another visitor~”

when doyeon walks in, joking “someone told me there was a party happening, so i came!” causing vanessa to clap her hands happily and glance around, frazzled for a moment. she reaches out for another chair, tugging it close and patting it for doyeon to sit. “come, come~ thank you for joining. i’m a big fan,” she jokes to the girl, reaching out to lightly pat her arm once she’s seated. there’s a warmth in her chest, with the girls coming one by one to join her. she’s so happy, so so happy-- it has to be obvious on her face, her features. pulled up into a smile.

when jinah steps out, vanessa can’t help but pout-- but she’s soon enough distracted with the other girls and focusing on giving more of her attention to the comments. it’s a few song requests, chuckling at some of the things the viewers are saying-- a couple comments pop up that catch her eye, that sound so suspiciously familiar. leaning closer to the screen, she begins to smile, reading off a comment like ‘hello!! this is kil, do you see my comment?’. it makes her laugh. “wah, kil? really?” a few more comments pop up from the same user, and it only increases her amusement. ‘unnies look so pretty~’ and ‘please wait i’ll be there’ has her happiness soaring, and she claps her hands. “okay~ kil-ah we’ll wait for you~”

she doesn’t take too long. it’s reaching past the hour point when she pops in, and vanessa’s loud about it, holding her hands up in the air in a hooray! motion. hugs are given all around, and she can’t help but squeeze joy a bit tighter, just out of sheer happiness that she’s been gifted with so many sweet visits today. they return to reading the comments, and vanessa grows a bit quiet, smiling fondly at the girls; they do a few song requests, and vanessa has to stifle her laughter at the cheers that joy yells in response and her happy applause and barrage of comments. she bounces between chirping up every so often, monitoring comments and making cute faces at doyeon as she watches the girl press the heart button on the live.

jinah returns, bringing her own computer and commenting about themselves on the live that have all of them laughing and cheering. she brings snacks, and vanessa lets out her own happy shout at the sight of it. she takes more of a backseat here, happy to just listen and watch her groupmates have fun. jinah plays dj for this part, taking requests as they answer random fan questions and the like. hyuna pops in for a quick visit as well, and she knows that maybe they should wrap it up soon. it’s late, and while she doesn’t mind staying up far late into the night, she does worry for the other girls.

she’s gearing up to try and wrap it up-- and then the sound of her phone vibrating on the table jolts her. it’s loud, audible amidst the girls talking, and she’s quick to grab it and apologize, smiling sheepishly before she glances down at the screen, noting cutie sejeonggie~ as the caller, and she lets out a happy noise. “oh! sejeong is calling~ should we answer?” she asks cutely, chuckling. but it’s not really a question, as she’s already hitting the answer button and quickly pressing on speaker. “sejeong-ah~~ hello~ you’re live~” she’s quick to say, and the sound of the other girls greeting the other makes her feel warm inside. “how are you? are you working hard~”

they talk and chat a bit. sejeong speaks a bit of praise for vanessa’s lives that have her blushing and ducking her head, laughing happily. “but this is the best one yet, right?” she asks, wiggling her brows as she chances a glance at the other girls. “because it’s one with all of k.arma. that’s the best of them all, it has to be.”

they chat a bit longer, and soon enough sejeong’s break comes to an end and vanessa gears up for goodbyes. she’s clutching the phone in one hand, sohee perched on her lap and the other girls in a sort of leaning over each other, sharing seats and such to fit in the screen. they’re all mushed together, but vanessa’s never felt more at ease. “thank you for tuning in! it’s time to rest~ thank you for k.arma for joining me~ we had fun, right?”

the chorus of happy responses follow. “we’ll do it again, sometime! goodnight everyone~ bye bye!”

the video starts with some black and white shots of people setting up, adjusting lights, fixing the drapery on the floor for the set, etc. The staff members are faceless in these shots. The focus then shifts to the four girls of k.arma seated. some smile, others laugh. there’s no audio though. instead, it’s a voice over of kiyeon talking.

“h.a.m have always been an important part of my life, i feel,” she says as the video shows cuts of her smiling and talking with the other members and staff. the scene changes to her looking in the mirror as her hair is styled. “they were the girl group, you know? i grew up listening to their music. so now that their legacy continues on and it’s the anniversary of their last full length album i wanted to pay some respects to that.” it returns to kiyeon sitting next to the other girls. she looks at the camera and gives a small peace sign. “they were a big influence on me becoming k.arma’s kiyeon.”

the video in the beginning seems to follow that same format for the other girls as their voices come over: black and white shots of them getting ready for the video, small gestures to the camera, nodding and talking with staff and the like.

"i've always been a big fan of h.a.m sunbaes." jinah’s voice is next. there’s shots of her interacting with the members as they walk onto set. smiling at the camera as she passes. her voice is soft. "especially, their earlier albums. they have a very classic sound." there’s a clip of the members sitting together: doyeon, kiyeon, mona and jinah. the camera zooms in on jinah as she laughs. her voice over going over the clip. "i've always wanted to produce music but it was h.a.m that inspired me even more. i think they're the first girl group where all of the members had a hand in producing and were really at the forefront of making their sound, expanding on it and developing it but what i love most about h.a.m is their sisterhood, their bond. i hope karma can develope that."

doyeon’s voice is next. the next clip is of doyeon fixing her hair in the mirror. “yeah, i remember watching them and discovering dance wasn’t only ballet, then deciding i wanted to be an idol like them. i used to learn all their choreographies and perform to my friends at school.” there’s another clip. this one is of her talking with the girls. they seem to laugh at whatever she said, clapping their hands. “they are admirable seniors in the industry and i hope k.arma can walk on a flower path like them and become as memorable.”

the final voice over comes from the leader, mona. her audio is shorter than the rest. the clip is of her being the last to take a seat on set after she made sure everyone was ready. mic in hand. there were staff members scurrying about for last minute checks. mona’s voice is gentle. “i’ve always admired h.a.m sunbaenim. i’ve always respected them.” in the clip mona looks around before making eye contact with the camera. her eyes curve as her lips spread into a smile. “i’ve always loved their later works. like why so lonely? i really liked that song a lot....” as mona’s audio ends, the clip fades to black.

it reopens to all four girls seated in the same set from the barrage of clips we’ve seen. they’re dressed in plain clothes. they’re gently swaying as the music comes in. the tone is really somber. doyeon sings first. her voice is soft, perfectly matching the tone of the song. jinah’s voice comes in to supplement the hook of the song before mona sings the first chorus. they’re singing this live in the video. their vocals are clearly heard through the microphones they hold.

jinah sings the beginning of the verse after the chorus. doyeon finishes the verse for jinah’s voice to flow back in for the hook. this time, both mona and kiyeon lift their mics. they harmonise the chorus. kiyeon’s voice is stronger, her vocals the forefront of the chorus but mona sings in an alto, soft and weaving in the background of kiyeon’s singing.

doyeon and jinah both share the bridge of the song. they’re both fluent english speakers and it reflects as they sing. kiyeon’s voice comes in at the end of the bridge, supplementing the high notes of the song as doyeon softly sings the final chorus. mona’s strong and stable vocals come in to relay the final lyric of the song as it fades out. kiyeon rests her head on jinah’s shoulder.

“thank you for such a beautiful song, h.a.m sunbaenim,” she says into her mic, looking at the camera. the video ends.

▫︎ ▪︎  ━ 하르츠 SEPTEMBER 2020 EVALUATION             NOT SHY &            GET IT

gahyeon thinks that this group evaluation is … okay. the biggest problem she has honestly was that she didn’t like the song – but as had happened last month, she’d managed to get more lines than the previous month, so she guesses she was slowly making progress. although, she still wasn’t entirely sure where she stood with the trainers as per her skills, but she’d keep working, nonetheless. so, although she didn’t like the song, everything about the dance was quick and fun, and the song grew on her over the course of the month. eventually, she at least thought the song was decent and wasn’t as off-put as she had been in the beginning.

by the time it comes, gahyeon’s well-prepared for the group evaluation. she’d worked hard alongside the other girls to get all the movements perfected and was quick in learning her lines – especially with how repetitive they were. but she didn’t mind so much. as the months continued her lines increase – that had to be a good sign … right ? she wasn’t sure. but she took a deep breath and continued, nonetheless. it wasn’t particularly hard to learn, although gahyeon doesn’t think any of them have been hard per se, so gahyeon pick everything up easily and by the time it comes to the evaluation she knows the routine like the back of her hand.

when it comes down to it, she guesses she enjoyed it. although she hadn’t liked the song itself in the beginning, it comes together well and their performance is strong, in gahyeon’s opinion. each of the girls suits it – and although there are moments that that realization that they all fit makes gahyeon a little anxious about what the fate of heartz’ girl crush unit was ( or, more specifically, gahyeon’s fate ), she still enjoys the performance. she dances hard and perfects her movements as per usual, and it ends up coming out as a great performance. she even manages to get a couple of center parts, which she’s not going to lie, makes her feel good.

once again, by the end, gahyeon feels confident in both herself and the other girls that they did well.

and once again, gahyeon moves on to her solo evaluation with ease.

this time around, gahyeon goes for a group song, and readjusting the choreography for a single dancer. she made sure to include as much of the choreography as possible so she wasn’t just standing there – so instead of taking a solo moment while the others would’ve danced in the background, gahyeon carried on through with the background choreography to make the performance a bit more interesting for an individual performer. the song has heavier vocals than rap this time, but her progress over the past months has bolstered her confidence enough that gahyeon takes it on with ease. she wanted to show that, as good of a rapper as she was, she could also handle herself with vocals. she was more well-rounded than just a rapper – if only because she feels the need to be at least decent with the way the lineup seemed so far. while she’d gun for a rapper position ( main would always be a good title but she didn’t know if she should be that ambitious ) and it was her forte, she wouldn’t appear useless as a vocalist. sure, she wasn’t main vocalist material – but she could carry a tune.

she even managed to sing eunwoo’s high note at the end, although decides against doing her adlibs throughout her attempts and instead goes back to the chorus. but considering she know she wouldn’t have been able to maintain the note before, but she sings it confidently and clearly now shows that she’s capable.

from the evaluations thus far, gahyeon saw ‘ get it ’ as something the trainers could’ve even picked for them to do for a group evaluation for the girl crush unit – and it made gahyeon sad to think that next month’s evaluation would be the last of said evaluations in the first place. but she tried not to think about what happened after they were done. after all the girls were chosen for the unit, and gahyeon wasn’t sure if she’d be left out. perhaps she’d decide this just wasn’t something for her, that there would be other opportunities – but for now, she worked hard.

adjusting the choreography wasn’t difficult, especially considering her expertise. although she’d taken time away from her youtube channel, gahyeon hadn’t stopped honing her choreography skills to potentially be able to do something for whatever potential group she became a part of – whether it be heartz or something later. no matter what, she was a dancer and choreographer through-and-through, and this was certainly one of the least taxing things to do. overall, it was easy to adjust for one person – it ended up just making it more interesting than just standing there when it came to switching from line-to-line, which wasn’t something particularly hard to do – and gahyeon learned it relatively quickly.

it was funny, back when doyeon had performed the song during the mgas, gahyeon couldn’t imagine herself being confident enough to sing to something like this, to believe she had the ability – but gahyeon carried herself well throughout both practice and the actual evaluation performance. there’s still enough rap for her to feel comfortable, and she carries herself well throughout the song. she embodies the confidence the original performers had and makes the short instances of freestyle her own. overall, she believes she’s able to make the performance her own in a way. it was strange, and perhaps something gahyeon hadn’t quite expected herself to do this time around – but the unexpected was always better than everyone being able to guess her next performance. it kept things interesting and continued to show off different sides to her.

gahyeon doesn’t know what it is, but she feels oddly better this month about … everything ? maybe it was just the feeling of not being completely lost the same way she’d been before, gahyeon’s honestly not sure – but it feels nice to not have looming anxiety on her shoulders at all times. for once, perhaps she’s settling into the new routine. she just hopes she doesn’t get bored of it the same way she has with evaluations before heartz. settling was fine – but she wasn’t sure how much longer she could be doing the same thing every month without a clear ending in sight. but overall, she has fun with both the evaluations and feels good about the work she’s put in this month. and she hopes that the trainers can see that in her, as well.

“Doyeonnieee~” Sejeong coos at her fellow K.ARMA member, though to her own ears it sounded more like whine.  Sejeong hadn’t been home to really spend time with the other girls lately, she was shooting her drama almost every day and even then when she got out of filming, she typically had to get changed and head over to the studio to practice for their upcoming comeback.

She comes over and gives the taller girl a hug around her waist, looking up at her with a grin.  “I can’t wait to see your photos when they come out for your photoshoot!  I bet I won’t even be able to see the pictures in print, everyone’ll scoop up everything you appear in!” she claims, speaking on Doyeon’s Dior shoot.  “How are you feeling about the comeback prep?  I feel like I’m so far behind you all lately.”

hosung was super excited.

this was something so different than their usual schedules and he was happy to try something new. even though this was essentially an idol exhibition he was glad for a change in pace, it wasn’t often that they got to do something active. well, dancing was active but it wasn’t the same as running or playing a sport. it was nerve wracking to show this different side of himself and he really didn’t want to make a fool of himself on tv. or in front of the other groups.

but having the other idol groups here meant that he could finally see doyeon for the first time in... a very long time. of course it was an official schedule and there would be many eyes around to watch their interaction but he’d be damned if he wasn’t going to speak to her. he missed her too much.

he spent most of the day with his team, cuddling up to hak and eating snacks in between doing dumb things much to the amusement of their fans. when there was a lull in activity, hosung excused himself and began to search for his girlfriend.

upon finally spotting her standing in the distance he decided to sneak up behind her, making a ‘shh’ gesture towards the fans in the stands as he crept closer. “boo!” he said, grabbing onto her shoulders giving her a tiny shake before releasing her with a grin. “did ya miss me, doyeonie?”

it’s the end ...

you know, i really thought that i’d be more upset to hear that rookies was closing. i’ve been in this rp perhaps not as long as many others, but for long enough that rookies has been a very integral part of my life for quite some time. it’s so odd to have the knowledge that it’s gone, quite honestly. i’m not entirely sure what to say. rookies had its good and bad, but i don’t think i regret joining. i was never completely unhappy, even if i had my struggles - but everyone did? that’s how it comes for everything. i loved being a part of this group, and it’s so sad to see it go right when i thought maybe things were going to be getting better. i’m not often an optimist, and maybe this is why, haha.

anyway. suffice to say, if you want to keep in contact, i’m more than happy to. please go ahead and follow me on twitter @/arkendrai if you’d like to, that’s where i’m easiest in contact with people. if that doesn’t work, i can share my discord as well. it’s up to you! but i’m more than happy to keep in contact with the friends i’ve made through rk.

my first and final muse, it’s strange that i’m saying goodbye. but i don’t think her story is going to move to another platform, as much as i love her so much is written in rookies that i’m probably going to be closing her story here. sad to say, but i don’t think anything else needs to be told. her story as a trainee was so long and made me a little stressed, so although i’ll miss her i’m also excited to move on, past her story. i’ve gotten tired of the monotony - and so has she.

and since everyone else is telling their muses stories, i guess i should give my ideas for yoo’s.

i was planning on having her leave the heartz project by the end of this month anyway -actually all the cogs were put in so she definitely would’ve left next month. so she would’ve returned to royal and likely finally debuted through them. eventually.

main rapper choi yoojung!! it needed to happen and i’m so sad that it never did. she had so many opportunities, and i was sad that i turned some of them down ... but it would’ve happened as royal’s second gen gg. maybe choreography, she would’ve eventually gotten into writing lyrics and become a rapmaker. maybe one day debut as a soloist? who knows. the girl wanted to perform, and she would’ve done what she had to

may eventually she would become a choreographer for royal/the samsung umbrella at some point? maybe once her career as an idol was over, she’d change her path. she was always so much more of a dancer, that if things didn’t work out with royal, she probably would’ve gone into choreography

as for life? eventually, she and @rkarin would’ve gotten together. clem and i had planned for them to be the cutest fucking couple that i’m so sad it never happened, and i’ll forever be upset that we didn’t get to write them being the cute gay couple they DESERVED TO BE ... childhood friends to lovers? my favorite trope. they’d be able to pretend they were just ‘good friends’ to netizens. it would’ve been hilarious. we love to see it. there would DEFINITELY be speculation on yoo about her sexuality, i have no doubt - but she’d be careful enough not to get into a scandal

 there are so many integral people in my life because of rookies. from my first friend in @rkdoyeon / @jiwoork (gab) to my first ship with former-rkdongmin (jess; rip, the only m/f couple that had rights) to one of my closest friends now @yuzurk / @jkookrk (rina). not to mention all the friends i made along the way - if you think i’m talking about you, i probably am. i’ve met so many people through rookies, and i really did make so many friends through rookies, it was so integral in my life - and although i’m sad to see it go, i think that’s okay. i think even though it’s sad, that doesn’t change any of the friendships i’ve made. and i’m more than happy to still chat/write with everyone who wants to still chat/write with me. just let me know, i’m always available.

yoojung had panicked the moment doyeon had suggested they perform together.

whether it made her look humble or like an attention-seeking teen, yoojung didn't think much of her talents. even her dancing skills didn't impress her ― there were plenty of people who were leagues ahead of her, and there always would be. there was always be the thought in the back of her head that she could be better. that she could be doing something to improve her skills, but she didn't know what that something was.

so, when doyeon had suggested they perform together, yoojung had been weary and confused. what was she going to bring to the table ? doyeon was talented, yoojung knew ― she had to be, being that she had been given a company contract before ― and young. she had to be talented, even without having heard her before.

and yoojung ? she could dance. that was where her extraordinary talent ended.

but, doyeon had insisted, and yoojung didn't want to let her unnie down ― so, they agreed on a song.  yoojung had to admit, she was thrilled that doyeon had suggested a song with a rap portion ― and that doyeon wanted yoojung to rap. it was her stronger suit, and she felt more comfortable doing that than being the main vocalist on the track. after some convincing, yoojung had even decided that she'd do some of the vocals on the track as well ― that was, of course, after doyeon had promised to help her.

there were some quick run throughs of the song before they started, adjustments to volumes on their mics and the back track before they were ready to start. doyeon did some vocal exercises ― which threw yoojung off entirely. it just seemed so professional of the elder to be able to do something like that, and yoojung felt like maybe she should be doing something like that … except yoojung knew absolutely nothing about vocal exercises or what she could do to help her voice, so she just decided to awkwardly stare at doyeon as she got herself ready, shifting uncomfortably and pursing her lips. but it would be fine, right ? she'd be fine ?

yoojung felt her entire body buzzing, anxiety setting in as she set the headphones over her hears. her fingertips reached to tap her thumb idly, trying to ground herself ― but the butterflies continued to swirl in her stomach as the track started up.

doyeon's vocals were smooth and soft ― exactly what yoojung would've expected from the elder. her voice was pleasing to the ear, and made it seem like singing was easy. that it was something just anyone could do ― yoojung looked across as the elder a moment; doyeon was meant to sing, that yoojung was sure of. doyeon knew her way around her voice, maneuvering it perfectly through the song. yoojung wished she had that much control over her vocals, that she understood her voice the way doyeon seemed to ― knew its strengths and weaknesses, but amplify its strong suits.

it didn't make sense to yoojung how someone like doyeon could believe yoojung could ever measure up to her.

drawing in a breath, yoojung listened as doyeon's voice created a place for yoojung's; her heart was racing as she stood there ― was sure time began to slow in anticipation for her to screw up. and yet, the first words flowed easily from her lips once they made it past, albeit a little shaky in her mind.

some of the anxiety began to settle as doyeon sang the chorus ― licked her lips as it came to an end, and it was yoojung's time to shine. she swore she wouldn't embarrass herself. and, although it was terrifying to actually push the lyrics from her lips, they eventually came with ease, dropping with the same anguish and confusion she remembered in the original.

“ i wanna be a good girl, 받기만 하는 거 말고 주는 걸 하고 싶었고 이제 난 돈도 벌었는데 나를 보는 너의 심장은 굼떠 ”

yoojung's voice suited the song, she thought. her flow was smooth and easy; voice soft and deep as the words fell perfectly into place ― learned from various idols and underground rappers over the years. she worked hard on perfecting the lyrics and form ― wanted to make sure she was able to get across the intentions behind the lyrics, not just spitting rhymes for the hell of it. breath control came easily to the dancer ― one of many reasons why she loved her previous instructors. there was a lot of focus put on proper breathing techniques, which had ultimately helped with her singing ― or, well, rapping ― career.

“ 변명처럼 들리겠지만 부재중일 때도 나는 변하고 있던 거야 너를 위해 능력 있고 인정받는 girlfriend 효도만큼 절실한 꿈이었는데 떠나면 어떡해 난 너한테 준게 하나 없는데 너만 주고가면 어떡해 너한테 남은 내 흔적은 없을 텐데 너는 뭐를 보며 나를 기억해 나를 추억해 돌아봤음 해 너를 부를 때 니가 내게 준 맘을 전부 갚을 수 있게 행복을 줄 수 있게 ”

as she finished out her part, yoojung exhaled slowly, careful to make sure she didn't sigh in fear of screwing up the recording ― they may have pop filters, but that wasn't going to stop the sudden rush of air. she had to admit, it was going better than she thought ― no on doyeon's part, after all she knew the elder had more experience, and would be fine. yoojung had been terrified she'd screw this up for doyeon, something she didn't want to do whatsoever. worried she'd stumble over or even forget her lyrics in the middle ― but both of them had gotten through their major parts without a hitch.

the next part kept yoojung on her tones ― taking over parts of the chorus for the elder. although, while yoojung was scared, she felt a little more relaxed, considering how far they had gotten so far. it wouldn't be terrible ― couldn't be, could it ? as doyeon finished out the hook, yoojung followed in suit;

“ 난 정말 모르고 니 선물 고르고 니가 원했던 건 이런 게 아니었던걸 ”

her voice slotted in nicely following doyeon's, even despite her inexperience. she added a different texture to the song that yoojung decided she didn't hate. it was okay, at the best. there was still a lot of work to be done, of course, but yoojung wasn't mad at it ― she could work on it later, she knew.

as the song came to an end, yoojung realized how glad she was that they had done this ― glad that they had decided to do this together. she looked across at doyeon as she finished out her last part; a smile crossed yoojung's lips ― it was fun. it was amazing to be able to do something with the elder, to be able to bond with someone who yoojung hoped was going to be around for a long time. in the short time they had already known one another, yoojung had found something in doyeon that she loved, and that she wanted to keep around for as long as doyeon would stay. she kept a private smile to herself as the elder seemed to glance over in her direction ― yoojung truly hoped she would stay.
