You are cordially invited to Reno's Annual Valentine's Day Gala & Fundraiser:

FIRE & ICE.

This year's annual fundraiser is taking place during Valentine's Day Weekend and will be helping raise funds for several local charities, shelters and other non-profits.

Date: February 14th, 2025

Location: Scorpion Nightclub in Panther Valley

Dress Code: Guests are encouraged to wear red or white, formal attire.

For this celebration, the inside of the upscale nightclub, 'Scorpion', will be completely decorated to match the theme of 'Fire & Ice' by assigning a theme to each of its two floors.

Upon entrance, guests will find a bright, white ballroom with long tables, and icy decorations all around the room while a jazz band and a DJ take turns hosting throughout the night. This is where people can donate, network, dinner will be served and champagne bottles and flutes will be floating around the room.

As for the floor below, normally Scorpion's secret speakeasy, will be completely turned red, with fire inspired decorations, a local band and a DJ taking turns entertaining the crowd as the guests dance, mingle and celebrate Valentine's Day their own way. With photo booths, fun themed drinks and a slow song here and there in case some of the couples want to take the dance floor for a little bit. Champagne flutes get changed for fancy cocktails or glasses of scotch, dim lights allowing people to let loose.

There is a catch to enter the basement area: to be allowed into the red room, guests will have to provide a pairing of their liking to security before being allowed inside, and the name of these pairings will be screened all over the walls while the party takes place for everyone to see.

OOC INFORMATION:

This event will take place starting at midnight on Saturday, February 1st until midnight on Saturday, February 15th. You can post non-event related threads while it's happening, but please don't start anymore event-related threads after midnight on Feb 15th

RE: the pairings submitted for access into the basement level. You have one entry per muse and it should be IC. Your characters can use this power for good or for evil; setting two people up if they like them together, stirring the pot between two exes or rivals, they could even use it for themselves and pair themselves up with someone that they like. The submissions will be anonymous (at least in the game) unless the character chooses to tell other people.

All the pairings will be posted by the main and we would love to see them interact at some point during the evening! Almost like a writing prompt. So this is a perfect opportunity to plot with multiple people and to have lots of fun!

Continuing from this event.

As the event goes on in full swing, within the Scorpion, a muffled voice breaks out over the music. “And spring fling queen goes to…. Melody Davis.” A pause is given before the voice continues, “oh, that’s right. She’s dead.” A sinister laughter breaks out, causing the room to go quiet and the party goers to look around in horror and confusion. Cutting to the back wall of the stage, a projector flashes on. An image of a tired up Olivia Davis flashes before everyone. The girl seems to struggle against her restraints, but it’s evident that she’s exhausted and worn. “Livy Davis could use a break.” The voice continues, “And I spy with my little eye…” He laughs, “… the next one that’s gonna die.”  The unrecognizable voice muses, “Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe… catch a tiger by….” The projector disappears off the wall, “it’s” and then the room collapses into darkness “toe.” Followed by another spinster laughter, “The police can’t save you now. Welcome to MY hell.”  Then without missing a beat the overhead cuts off, and a few seconds later the lights flash back on. Leaving the room filled with unease and confusion.

Conversation can now be had about this. The event isn't as easy going anymore, and you can decide rather or not your character panics, tries to leave (they won't be able to just yet), or ignores the whole thing and attempts to continue having a good time!

If you feel as though your character would attempt to leave, please be aware that there's going to be a momentary lock down within the club to secure safety.

On the walls of Scorpion's speakeasy, pairings start showing up...

After a long night that took a very dramatic and dark turn, the citizens of Reno made their ways back home. Or at least, most of them did. The fear in the room had been palpable, that much was clear and whispers and plans began to form. By morning time a crowd began to take a place outside of the Chief of Police's office in Downtown Reno; a peaceful protest is what the news reported.

The protest, which asked for changes in the local police station, continued to grow throughout the day; some business owners even being forced to close for the rest of the day due to the chaos that was slowly beginning.

It was when the police decided it was time to send people home that a real chaos and madness began. No one knows who threw the first bottle, which hit a police officer's helmet, but that action made both sides clash. Suddenly, people started running anywhere that they could, officers using physical force against civilians in an effort to dissipate the crowd only led to civilians trying to fight them, storefronts were destroyed with rocks, multiple businesses in town victims of looting as a consequence of the protest now turning into a massive riot that the news covered almost all night.

By the time the sun came out, the people of Reno were met with the remnants of the madness; the firefighters still putting out fires, houses and stores with broken windows or fronts and the silence was deafening for the first time ever. On the news, an FBI agent addressed the town to let them know that local law enforcement was officially out of the investigation and that new leads had been found overnight.

Sadly, damage was done and an uneasy feeling is now covering the small city with people wondering exactly what this means for everyone now that the killer they have been trying to find for over 20 years announced a new victim less than 48 hours ago.

Tension should be growing around town now that people have started feeling less safe and these protests should continue is smaller sizes for the next few weeks, have your characters react to them however you'd like

A lot of rumors about the Chief of Police stepping down have began

If your character owns one of these business, feel free to choose how bad their situation is and use it to your advantage, please, that is more than encouraged! If your character isn't directly affected, the town is generally a mess right now anyway.
