About last night...

This post😌:

inspired me to translate the following (fun) fact from an interview with czech VAs of Henry and Hans😁 (and to expand a little on the the topic of nicknames).:

Richard (VA of Henry) says that when he and Robert (VA of Hans) were dubbing, they were strictly forbidden to talk about the fact that they were dubbing Hans and Henry. In private and on socials. (The management really kept the information about who would be the czech VAs a secret for a very long time.)

He continues that they also worked together on another project during the dubbing of KCD, so they used to meet outside the studio and when they were alone and no one could hear them, they called each other "pán Ptáček" (Mr. Capon/Lord Capon) and "Jindríšku" (*Henry).

(Robert specifically added that they called each other like that often in the toilets because there are no cameras there - I mean thank you for that piece of information😅)

But what's more cute about this interaction is the particular nickname "Jindříško/Jindříšku".

*It's a nickname for the name Jindřich/Jindra (Henry), but it's used when you want to address someone very gently and affectionately. Something like "my sweetheart Jindra". Plus it sounds a bit playful coming from Richard in this context. While pán Ptáček (literally Mr. Capon) Well, I don't have to explain..😏

The dubbing in czech or how the game was written has so many layers (especially when it comes to swear words, double meanings, innuendos, nicknames, even the lines of cumans, NPCs and the names of random characters) - the problem is that it is not possible to translate everything because these are very specific language expressions and subliminal nuances.

The way characters are adressing each other during the game and creativity with insults/swear words are out of this world I swear it's a story in itself.

Testing hair/skin colors on some old doodles again and hhh realizing the skin colors are a mess and I'll have to fix them probably especially Victor is pissing me off cuz I color-picked his skin tone from the ref sheet I did a while ago and it was too dark, and color-picked Jindra from that one digital art of her and she was too light (I have since edited it but she was noticeably paler than Victor)

JamIsland is the GamesLab embedded in Schmiede. Lasting for 3 days, the goal of JamIsland is to provide a playground for aficionados and enthusiasts alike, revolving around games and interactive media. With learning by doing being the core motivation for GameJams, the fun part is that they always result in finished games by the end of it! Get a specific topic, storm your brain for ideas and jump right into creative development, no further limitations involved!

Timetable:

# Friday, 18.09, Noon: Kickoff - Topic gets chosen and teams get formed (Optional: Beginners Workshop)

# Sunday, 20.09, 5pm: Production finished, internal GameJam exhibition, voting and low-key awards ceremony

# Friday, 25.09: Public exhibition of all developed games at “SchmiedeWorkshow”

For all Newbies, fear not: Everyone can create a game - there will be an “absolute beginners” workshop on Friday 18.09., where we will create a simple game together. 

All you need is your own laptop.

The LabLeaders of JamIsland 2020 are Florian Jindra and Rene Baumgartner.

JamIsland was initiated by Georg Hobmeier, Flo Jindra, Robert Praxmarer and Michael Hackl in 2015.

JamIsland / GamesLab  is a cooperation between the FH Salzburg and Schmiede Hallein.
