on leathericecream's server we did a sort of secret santa type event, where we submitted a character we wanted to get drawn, and a killer that will be assigned to someone, and another person would have to combine the two. this one is for big godon, combing robot from etg and billy the puppet. bonus pic below

hello fellow bot!
i've been struggling with robo dysphoria lately... what kinds of things do you like to do to feel better?
First off and I think the biggest thing is rephrasing things relating to yourself so they sound roboty. For example, you're not going to the doctor's office, you're visiting your mechanic, it's not food its fuel, you don't have muscles to be sore, your motors are wearing out, you're filling up your liquid coolant, things of that nature.
Next is getting clothes and stuff for your vessel to like more robotic. I have leggings that are really really good for this, but not much in the way of gloves, so my hands are still a sore spot for me.
If you trust them enough, try to get the people around you to change the words they use for you to their robotic versions, too.
Make beeps and boops! I like to chatter at my girlfriend like boopboopboopbeepboopbipboopbeepboopbipboopbeepbeepbipboopbeepboopbip and she'll respond like "wow, i never knew" like you would to a very vocal animal. Mileage may vary on this one but it does good for me.
If you've got a solid design for yourself, telling yourself or being told by someone else that you have the features of your design really helps too, though this one's been the hardest for me to get since i don't like asking for stuff. Shiny panels, bright screen face, cute joints, stuff like that.
Play videogames where the player character is a robot. The main ones that come to mind for me are Starbound, unsighted, enter the gungeon [though you have to unlock this one], portal 2 multiplayer, or any game where you can modify the character to be robotic, like minecraft or terraria.
Hope these help!

i love enter the gungeon, don't get me wrong. despite my 14 year long addiction to isaac, i think it's better designed than isaac, i find myself returning to it more often and for longer.
but the busted television is genuinely fucking evil. i've played over 1,000 hours, and have almost every achievement and somehow. i still haven't been able to unlock the fucking robot.

Two robits from my favorite Rougelikes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Robot from Enter the Gungeon and The Robot from Nuclear Throne!
Don't worry devs, coming up with names are hard, I understand.
The Robot Body Scale ranges from 1 to 10 and reflects how happy I, Zoey Gauntletqueen, would be for a robot body to be my body. 5 is the base, being the same as my current human body. It does not reflect my opinion on the design as a whole.
Gungeon's Robot has a cute oldschool pc design, and a lil arm canon! Can't say much else about it though. It doesnt' look particularly tough, it does look small, the colors aren't really my style.
3.9
Nuclear Throne's Robot Has a unique design as a lil spiderbot, which is fun! If I'm gonna be some lil robo creature thingy I sure would like to be able scitter and scuttle :> There's still a means to hold and operate objects, that's important! It also does this which is a big plus

19th's Steam Next Fest Impressions Oct 2024 Edition - Day 1
It's here yet again. The time where I torture myself by playing too many demos and then yell into the void about what I felt playing them.
Random Access Mayhem
youtube
Action Roguelite about robots with a hotswap mechanic, jumping from enemy body to enemy body, each one having a vastly different playstyle.
First thing I noticed was that it had no dodge roll. So many games had been in the influence of souls and gungeon that it felt weird at first. But I grew to like it. 1) your movement, especially with certain bots, is enough that you don't need it and 2) points of guaranteed damage aren't as big a deal when you can swap
My complaints are one reasonable and one unreasonable:
Unreasonable: the trailer showed off a town that I wanted to explore, but it isn't in the demo.
Reasonable: The art style sometimes confuses me on elevation. Something will be wall that looks like a continuation of floor, and I'll wonder why I'm hitting an invisible field.
Puzzle Depot
youtube
A sokoban game where you play as a professional box pusher who volunteers themselves as a week long cryosleep test subject. It ends up lasting longer than a week and the world turns to shit. Now use those box pushing skills to survive the wastes.
I was surprised at how expansive this demo was. Instead of isolated rooms, the first level was a series of interconnected rooms in your facility. Further, you play through it in 3 different time periods, reusing the same layouts in different puzzles. There were a lot of optional puzzles and side objectives, and a lot of reason to replay.
My main complaint is that while you can reset a room, you can't do a single move undo. but considering that the game has a health system I understand the impetus. Plus Void Stranger also got away with that.
Dinocop
youtube
In a world where they jurassic park'd dinos, turns out they were intelligent enough that zoo-ing them was a bad look. So now it's an uneasy human-dinosaur society. You play as Dinocop, who was genetically engineered to be a cop because they needed a dinocop for image purposes but no one wanted to volunteer for ACAB reasons. And now you gotta solve a crime at the Dinosaur Rights Convention
Gameplay is exploration and time management. People go about to different places through the day and you fight info by being in the right place and right time. I wasn't able to fully test how in depth the system goes; after my first run, the game softlocked and I didn't want to bother.
It's a comedy game as expected but it's… a lot more bitter than expected and a bit too on the nose. Not as funny as Frog Detective, but has more going on mechanically. It has potential.
Neon Village
youtube
It's Luck Be A Landlord but match 3. Get coins by clearing similar colored blocks. Certain symbols synergize with each-other for more coins. Pay the bank increasing rent by the end of 12 turns.
Core gameplay is good enough, but it has some UI problems. Whenever you get rewards, instead of bringing it straight up for you to choose, the icon for it lingers to the side, and you have to manually click it. The problem is match-3 is inherently engaging enough that I kept forgetting those were there.
None Shall Intrude
youtube
Roguelike deckbuilder about being a dragon trying to conquer the nearby kingdom and kill the slayer. It has an interesting system where your attacks change the tiles on the grid, into things like lava points, boulders, tornadoes, and then using your cards on said points create different interactions. That being said, while I see the space for strategic depth, it didn't really "stand out" too much as yet another deckbuilder. Should be interesting for the type who can't get enough of those, though.

dead cells
Dead Cells is a 2D side-scrolling "roguevania", a combination of the roguelike and Metroidvania genres. The player controls the Prisoner, an amorphous creature who journeys across an island full of mutated monsters. When the player dies, they lose all weapons and upgrades obtained in a playthrough, excluding a few permanent items. Weapons primarily include swords, bows, shields, and placeable traps that harm enemies that come near them. In combat, the Prisoner can dodge across the ground to avoid the attacks of enemies, or jump over the attacks.
Dodging into an enemy's space allows the Prisoner to move through them and attack from behind. When falling from a height, the Prisoner can slam into the ground, allowing them to stun enemies, or allow the Prisoner to fall from heights without getting stunned themselves. The game's combat is comparable to the Dark Souls series, with difficult enemies possessing certain behaviors the player can learn, and where frequent player-character death is a fundamental part of the game.

bemeatn apple
Beneath Apple Manor is usually placed in the "roguelike" genre. It actually predates Rogue (created in 1980) by two years. The creator claims that neither he nor the creators of Rogue were aware of the other game. The goal is to obtain a Golden Apple on the bottom floor of the dungeon. There are 10 rooms per level in the low-res version, and 5 in the high-res version. The high-res versions may be played in low-res/text mode, thereby gaining the larger levels. It is notable for being the first commercial role playing game developed and released for a home computer as opposed to a mainframe computer.

enter the gungeon
Enter the Gungeon is a top-down bullet hell shooter with roguelike elements. The player takes control of one of four player characters, the Marine, Convict, Hunter, or Pilot (collectively called the "Gungeoneers"), who must reach the bottom of the Gungeon to find a magical gun that can "kill the past". The player can later complete in-game tasks to unlock more characters, which includes the Bullet, Robot, Paradox, and Gunslinger. Although each Gungeoneer starts out with items and weapons that are unique to the character,[1] they can all shoot guns, knock over tables to provide cover, and dodge attacks by performing a "dodge roll" that allows them to be temporarily incapable of losing health.
The player also has a limited number of "Blanks" which can be used to delete all enemy projectiles in a room and push enemies away. Combat is heavily reliant upon memorizing patterns of enemy behavior, and using both cover and dodge rolls to avoid bullets. The Gungeon is made up of five different floors, each having roughly twenty rooms inside. The layout and rewards of each level are procedurally generated from a number of pre-created rooms, and are inhabited by bullet-shaped enemies called Gundead.

This run was chaotic as hell and I thought it couldn't get any crazier... Then I got the Clone in a chest and it got WILD, the Robot really wanted to get out and caused absolute mayhem doing it
