Question: your sex scenes have such a real human element. There's humor, there's weirdness, there's conversations that sound the way people actually talk about sex. Did you ever have trepidation about sharing work with those scenes in it, or is it all just writing to you?

the short answer is no, I do not have any trepidation in writing and sharing sex scenes, probably for 2 reasons. 1, I was writing fanfic with sex scenes in it long before I ever actually had sex, lol. like age 12, posting sasunaru on ff.net. so writing about sex and having sex have always been very disconnected for me. and 2, I do not have sex in my real life the way that I write it! I'm no good in bed lmfao. I've had a lot of sex but not much of it has been good, jokey, or trustful. I'm cagey and uptight lol. my husband always ribs me for being weird about sex yet also being an erotica writer. which, ok, fair!! coaches don't play!!!!

all that to say, I do try to write about sex in a way that comes out feeling natural! sex is funny and gross and you talk during it. I'm by no means anti-porn, but I am anti thinking that porn is an accurate representation of how two regular people have sex. so not looking to porn when writing about sex helps that naturalistic feeling, if anyone is looking for writing advice.

also, it's like.. sex should tell you something about the characters, which is always important and extra important in fic, I think. you want them to fuck BECAUSE of who they are. otherwise you could watch any two guys fucking.

i know you’ve just recently begun to dip your toe back into the spn pool, are you reading any new fic or sticking to spinning them around in your little brain-microwave? if you have been reading, any recs?

I am not reading any fic at the moment! so I don't have any recs unfortch. I've been, like you said, rotating them in my microwave. putting them in a jar and shaking them. put a lil twig and leaf in there for enrichment. poked some holes in the lid.

I'm SORRY, someone else mentioned it in an ask a while ago and I hadn't noticed I'd said it before then but it stuck with me!! I think I've said several times about "blood, something dark" on a condom, because that's the scuzzy reality of anal sex that we all should confront, but here's a few paragraphs I remember.

reading these both, I guess I just love the gnar, mundane and awkward bits after sex. after you nut everything gets so normal and embarrassing. something leaks, your sheets are wet, your jeans are caught around your legs and there's stuff on the condom, and don't get me started on period sex. it's not sexy and everyone hates it but you gotta put that condom somewhere. I just think that's so great. that's where humanity lives, baby!!!! that's where it happens!! it's a series of moments!!!! there's shit on the condom, you bleed on some guy's sheets, you pick your nose on the bus and someone sees, life goes on. thank you for asking.

I have indeed! I have a whole late series tag for my spn fics (here) that has 10 fics in it. of those, these could be considered a late series first time situation

I was going to wait for barry to get home to remind me of my favourite things because I never remember, but here we go

1. favourite food: noodles. any kind of noodles. saucy meaty noodles. Just the largest amount of noodles you could ever imagine. every noodle from across the globe. pasta, rice, ramen, udon, soba, shaved noodles, biangbiang, spaetzel, those clear little guys that are in sunomono, those rice cakes in tteokbokki that function like a noodle, any noodle you've ever heard of, I'd like it.

2. favourite animal: I really had to think about this. Nobody's asked me since I was a kid. I really like hawks. red tailed hawks are big around here. cats are my favourite domestic thing. raccoons are fantastic. maybe chickens, though, in terms of what makes me the MOST happy when I see them. when I pass by a chicken coop and see their giant fluffy butts, that's a kind of joy I don't get anywhere else in my life. so, chickens, actually.

3. summer memory: I lived in a townhouse complex from age 6 to 9 and I'd spend all day playing roller hockey with the other kids in the complex, and when the ice cream truck came through we would scream and drop the game and try to skate home, get money from our parents, and get back before the truck left. when I got older: walking home from a show at 3 am a hot summer night

Aha noooo I have not heard back yet. who knows, life happens, sometimes you fall out of love with a fandom and don't reply to emails. it's just an email and life is so broad. I bear no ill will.

I debated with barry over whether I should post their fic if I never hear back from them. he says no, because they paid me for it, so it's theirs regardless and not mine to post. I say yes (or anyway am thinking yes) because it was a fundraiser and not a COMMISSION which to me holds significance. not that I would ever welch on a commission, but that a fundraiser is a different thing than paying for a service. you might donate to a fundraiser and get a crummy notepad in return, a notepad you would not have paid your donation amount for, but you acknowledge "well it's a fundraiser." as opposed to commissioning a custom notebook for your needs. that type of thing.

but, I'm not planning on posting any until they're all done, so they've got time. Who knows what's going on in people's lives.

instead, it is a spn/true detective crossover fic!!! which is an extremely interesting idea. it appears to be only 1 of 2 td/spn fics out there. which is also veery interesting to me

aha the preview for this said "what's your fav kind of monster" and I was like "oh monster energy??? i'm more of a Reign man myself but the monster coffee ones are alright" (I love energy drinks lol)

but that is a great question, because they ARE so different. I had to think about it!! I am a big fan of vampires in general, but not in spn. in the whole spectrum of vampire media, spn vamps are pretty weak.

so I think you're right. as a rule, you can't beat a ghost ep!! they've got it all:

✅️ the boys getting poltergeist-thrown into walls

✅️ side characters going through some emotional relationship issue with one another that parallels an emotional relationship issue that sam and dean are going through

aha thank you!!! not weird at all, hugely flattering. I really like that house fic so I'm glad it's the one you read. and I'm obviously biased, but true detective and the bear are both some very very excellent television, so I highly recommend them both. both are much less sexy than their fic counterparts but they're great shows.

and: you didn't ASK for writing advice, but I will say-- I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to emulate someone's style! not advocating for plagiarism obviously, but I think there's a lot of benefit to analyzing a writer's work and thinking about what you like about it and why you like it, and using those insights to shape your own writing. like.. we're all pulling from the same bag of words, but which words does a writer use, how do they organize a sentence, what do you find evocative, what doesn't work, etc etc.

tldr, nothing is mystical. like arin hanson said: you think I came out of the pussy drawing fuckin mozart? lol

I'd like to talk about Sam and the Impala today. Dean's relationship with her is obvious, but Sam loves her too. She's his home and he cares about her, (even if he's not having Impala related panic attacks or doing her maintenance).

So yeah, any thoughts or headcanons you have around Sam and the Impala, how he feels about her, how'd she'd treat him if she was turned into a person, how he felt about BEING her, whatever you want!

hello! I love that you've asked this but I don't think I have anything poignant to say! obviously Sam has a different relationship w the impala than Dean, but it's still his home, so he feels very strongly towards it. I'd say for most of the series it's probably the only place he feels safe! and it smells like home.

thank you!! I'm glad you like it. with my hiatus from spn fic and the fact that, even though I still like spn, I did write these fundraiser fics for money, I wasn't sure if they'd come out okay. but people seem to be enjoying it! thank you for taking the time to say so.

specifically I like the "fucked their brother by accident" thing because that is obvious, but a lot of spn fic--rightly so due to the way Sam and dean are--have things reaching a "boiling point" where they just can't ignore their feelings anymore. which is accurate for THEM but also like... yeah, dean, nobody DOES do that by accident, very astute.
