Thinking of unfollowing a white mutual who keeps reblogging posts that I'm getting increasingly uncomfortable with without any nuance. I've been thinking of it for months and it's getting iffier each time. Not that I think they aren't a good person but I see it every time I follow a white person and especially Americans. It's just disappointing.
#rosalraven.text#ive been mutuals with them for at least maybe four years so this is frustrating#either way im just tired man

Checked in with that person and they just admitted they were using "white tears" and making things about them but still saw no issue with the fact they were actually being bigoted like holy shit activist circles are a fucking train wreck

I'm sorry it's such a wild response for a white person to say "I'm not a bigot! Stop calling me a bigot!" when a person of color calls them out for, well, being a bigot.
#rosalraven.text#im just thinking about some white gentile being called out for antisemitism and then playing victim#and also trying to say ''i know im not a bigot! stop calling me that!''#outrageous honestly like the audacity#like they wrre being antisemitic about a jew of color mind you

Oh hohoho I think the recent discourse is triggering something in me in such a specific way
Is this trauma coming back up from the deep recesses of my mindscape?

Japanese person realizes the weight of their country's war crimes during the second world war especially against Southeast Asians is cathartic to hear as a Southeasst Asian.
My grandfather's hometown was restricted from accessing food by the Japanese colonizers and he had to break open his own farm's storage to let people get food before running off to avoid getting captured so yeah.

Genuinely, I think mob mentality and typically in progressive/activist circles need to calm the fuck down. It feels like people are so much more concerned about trying to cancel some guy or drag some celebrity instead of actually supporting victims and it's sickening. You are not helping victims by focusing on trying to fuck over some dude regardless if they're the culprit or not.
Genuinely, it's one of the fears that a lot of abuse victims have to have their abusers be dragged or ruined because of their admission and it actually makes it harder for people to come out because of this. It's one of the things abusers do use against their victims as a reason as to why they shouldn't come out at all. Does that mean we should just shield abusers? No of course not, but what that does mean is that you shouldn't just jump into bandwagons of he said she said because you have a social justice boner because you're actively making it a less safe space for victims.
This is also not accounting for the fact that there's also typically more to the story and just sharing hearsay on twitter would typically be more damaging for the situation than helpful.
Get out of your social justice high horse and listen to the fucking victims for fucks sake and stop making it about trying to cancel some dude.

Ngl, sometimes when confession blogs get snarky in their replies or outright hostile against otherwise innocent anons it pisses me off a little. Like dude, there's straight up awful shit that gets submitted in those and you pick on the ones with like minor complaints? Not even the hostile ones? Not even the ones that actively taunt you or your followers? You just have to tell people that this anon with an innocuous comment that you slightly disagree with is actually bad enough to warrant a response?
I'm not even the one who sent the anon and it's just annoying when people do that and not to the worse ones. It's not funny, it's pettiness hidden in snark.
It's one thing if the response was on the mom's main accounts, it's another to sign it off on the actual confession blog and also not sign it off on who said what. It's In bad taste and makes me wonder why even run a blog like that anyway.

Here's also the reality of the situation: the author could be as fucking book-accurate as he can and people would still find things to bitch about. The author could take so much time, dedication, and resources to adapt the series and it still wouldn't be enough. You know why? Because the book is written from first person pov, a visual and audio medium like a tv show isn't.
The MC would still be way too quiet because most of his dialogue is fucking thinking. The world would still be not explained right or infodumped too much because a lot of those connections happen in his fucking brain. He wouldn't be as sassy as he was in the books because most of his fucking sass is in his fucking thoughts.
The author could do as accurate as a recreation and it still wouldn't be enough because people would still find ways to complain because a lot of those book-only elitists are pedantic as fuck and nothing would ever satisfy them.
For the record, I'm a book fan too and I'm getting sick of these people.

The more I think about this the more I'm reminded of things like the P3rsona adaptation and how sticking way too close to the source material was its detriment.
P4 the animation was so extremely good that it's still seen as a beloved classic even among game fans who many had been introduced via the anime which took the characters of the show and added more content while also changing stuff around so it's not an accurate one-to-one anime adaptation of the game.
This is compared to P5 the animation which many consider as a waste of time of an adaptation and often you'd hear people say to just play the game. It's so bare bones in portrayal of the characters that you genuinely won't lose anything if you skipped it entirely and instead just play the game or watch a let's player on YouTube play it. The only parts that make the anime bareable to me was the English VAs adding so much life into the characters and I still get bored.
Like I don't know, genuinely a one-to-one recreation of a piece of media that I already experienced to a different medium often doesn't do much for me and I think most people get that.
There is a discussion to be had on what is a good adaptation vs. a bad one but a lot of the discourse doesn't really focus on this and when they do they straight up miss the fucking point so it's just mildly annoying at best and gravely insulting at worst.

I feel like I was sent back to the early 2010s why the fuck are there so many smug book-only people in this godforsaken fandom like hello?????
People are out here discussing that an adaptation is bad bc it doesn't do a one to one recreation of the original, almost losing the plot and barely wanting to engage in the adaptation, of course you're going to have an awful time!
Ffs there are many and I mean MANY reasons why certain parts were cut or changed or shifted and as long as the adaptation doesn't completely lose the message, butcher the characters beyond recognition, and throw out the ENTIRE FUCKING PLOT BY THE SECOND EPISODE then I think the show is actually doing pretty well all things considered.
There's also this sense of entitlement about how the creator should adapt his own work. It's either too much or too little. There's either too much exposition or too little time to understand everything. The characters don't feel like themselves or they're too much of a caricature or whatever.
Obviously, I, tumblr user everyone-else-is-stoopid, know the characters so much better than that stupid author! Even if I haven't read the books in years and refuse to understand the context of when they were written and why these changes ar being done now!
Like, I get being disappointed about some stuff being changed or maybe this one episode could've been better but the fucking entitlement is annoying as fuck.
The fact that this doesn't even just extend to people on here or TikTok but straight up large YouTubers who are being pedantic for the sake of pedantry is exhausting.

While I'm here and talking about shitty things in the fandom, the amount of racism that this fandom let's slip pass them is absolutely fucked. The amount of ableism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and yeah aphobia is ridiculous. People are not allowed to criticize some of these things or whatever because it's "just fiction anw" and "you have no joy or whimsy" like genuinely frustrated about this that's why I'm staying out of most fandom stuff at this point for my own sanity.
It's one thing to keep your guard up from people starting harassment campaigns because of the latest awful trend of purity culture in online fandom spaces, it's another to let fucking outright insensitive and bigoted shit let slip by.
Idk I'm just so sick of this and as a non-western queer poc this is annoying the shit out of me. Do better.

Ngl, as much as I agree that the c@t p0ll was like an absolute shit show and people went too far with sending death threats, the other members of the fandom trying to frame the people who did send those things as "the reason why every other person hates the community" is like not at all accurate and it does feel a little self-important in a way.
Like, it's one thing to criticize the disproportionate response to the whole situation, it's another to outright say that this is the main reason other fandoms and communities are wary of us as if it's unique to our own like hello??? So many other fandoms engage in this behavior???
I'm not saying that since it's normalized that it should be excused, but ffs trying to make the dislike and irrational hatred that other people have of certain media and its fandom as some sort of consequence of shitty actors is not as helpful to the conversation as trying to distance yourself from the bad eggs of the fan base does.
People primarily don't like certain fans not necessarily because of these terrible albeit less frequent incidents, but mostly because of cringe, personal bias, or just bad vibes.
Some people also just hate certain fandoms because of the same kind of harassment that's being talked about here by outsiders against people from within the community.
I don't know I just think there's a better way to discussing this thing without framing it as "this is why everyone hates us!"

Stop calling us idiots or mentally ill, or like pushing your headcanons on us when we're live on stream
It's hard to say anything and it's extremely uncomfortable
I hate that the exact guy that I don't want to follow me at all followed me on my twitch account
He had insulted me several times and thinks it's a joke

Hopefully I do get to fully get into the next stage of grief here
Which is anger
I am angry
I was used for character development, ignored because trying to be considerate of me was too hard, and then abandoned when there were new shiny not complicated people that came along
It sucks and honestly yeah, this is the point of no return
