Here's a collection of Legend of Tenna sprites I made for characters from chapter 1 and 2 (Tenna included for comparison), folllowing the same rules that the in game sprites do: 1. Graphics are made up of 8x8 tiles, and 2. Colors are limited to 3 per sprite. This rule is broken by the Kris and Ralsei sprites, which both have red added for their mantle and scarf. These are the same graphical limitations as the NES, and I think it's really cool that they payed so much attention for authenticity. It adds a lot!

At first she's held up as a noble and inspiring mentor character, but as the games go on you realize she's as complicated and flawed as any other character. I think this conflict between her legacy and her real self adds a lot of depth to her.

She’s so cool she’s the first character you meet in the first game and she’s your mentor (read: tutorial) for the first case and the game gives you just enough time to get attached to her before BAM!! She gets murdered and you have to solve the whodunnit. Fear not though, because she stays relevant the whole trilogy!! (Also helps you from beyond the grave in classic dead mentor figure fashion). Her boyfriend later serves as an antagonist because he blames you for her death, in a more classic “dead wife” plot. Anyways VOTE MIA!! SHE LITERALLY LEFT HER FAMILY OF SPIRIT MEDIUMS TO GO TO LAW SCHOOL (?????). THE CHARACTER EVER.

Spock:

The entire plot of the third movie is set in motion by his death, and the WHOLE PONT of the film is to showcase that his best friend is willing to risk everything —his career, his starship (that he loves more than he loves himself), numerous people’s safety (including his SON’S)— in order to bring Spock back to life. Also Spock’s whole thing (and the reason he sacrificed himself) is that “the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few”, which his friend goes explicitly against, putting Spock’s life above everyone else’s best interest. If that’s not a dead wife story I don’t know what is. He even Comes Back Wrong and everything!!
