lloyd would love mascot characters (sanrio/san-x) and after his little figurine collection was discovered by the team, everyone has been assigned a specific set of characters (which everyone has also grown very attached to as well...)

lloyd: chibimaru & wish me mell

he is soo puppy & bunny and everyone agrees. both characters are very sweet and emotionally intelligent, often trying to make others happy

nya: chococat & chelsea (beatcats)

nya is definitely the cat sibling and she's very nonchalant much like one. her presence is calming to others and she picks up on other people's emotions easily, but she's very fiesty

cole: rilakkuma & ruby (jewelpets)

cole gives the best hugs and with the term bear hug and his insane strength, the whole team agrees with cole being a cuddly, deadly strong bear. he has a neverending appetite like rilakkuma and strong leadership skills like ruby!

zane: tuxedo sam & moppu (marumofubiyori)

lloyd immediately associates arctic creatures with zane and it just stuck, hence he's compared to a penguin and a polar bear who are both sweet and live in their own worlds.

kai: latte (tenorikuma) & pocchaco

kai's caffeine addiction and likeness to the color red made him the perfect match to a redpanda running a cafe in lloyd's professional opinion, and pocchaco is there because is definitely a silly dog person to contrast to nya

jay: mamegoma & ruby (jewelpets)

jay undeniably has the stubbornness and airheadedness of ruby (jay and lloyd watch jewelpets tgt when they have free time :pleading eyes:) but his childish behavior is also reminiscent of a little seal just playing around
