"Drink up, me 'earties, yo ho!". || 🎮: Uncharted 4: A Thief's End (Naughty Dog) 

We all know how much symbolism have Uncharted 4: A Thief's End. Nowadays, two years before, we still share theories of all these metaphors here and there, especially related to the Jerk Thief and the Penitent Thief. I've been reading lots of opinions about that, and honestly, I don't know which one fits better for me — it seems like the duality is between Sam and Rafe, which already makes sense to me if thinking about Nate as Jesuschrist. In fact, he's the one who plays as a mediator between his brother and their "enemy", trying to find the most peaceful way at every moment.

In my opinion, both Rafe and Sam (and even all the characters through all the games) are constantly tempting to be the Penitent Thief and the Jerk Thief — they both had selfish reasons above the treasure and came through horrible ways to achieve it. Actually, it's just they are playing as thieves (just as Nate before, a life he was trying to left behind when decides to go legally after treasures), and if they are jerk or penitent is determinant with their last words, just as Dismas and Gestas in the cross. I bet Dismas, the Penitent Thief made a lot of damage when he was a thief, but what made the difference was his final attitude towards death. When Rafe and Sam are near death, at the end of the game, they show different attitudes: Rafe is willing to kill Nate and Sam to get the treasure, but Sam accepts the mistakes he made and that those mistakes drove him to death. Nate, as Jesuschrist, finally saved him (well, we know he's also his brother, but I think it also gives more symbolism), and Sam manages to bring with him some "riches of paradise". Well, this is just a very short abstract of my opinion. What do you think?
