I know Tim has a whole schtick about traditional TV formula and how its characters can't ever change, hence all of our mains, especially Buck, have been running on a metaphorical rotational device for small domesticated rodents and going through the same thing over and over again. How to avoid it all getting boring, frustrating and tedious after 8 years?

May I suggest learning from the Spanish language? May I devise the ser vs estar model?

I'll give you all the ser qualities. They stay firefighters no matter what, medical degree be damned. They can even be pretty much the same person as they were when they first appear, Buck impulsive hot head until the age of 90, sure.

But show me some evolutions in their estar qualities? Like emotions, let Henren's children be happy for more than 3 episodes? Conditions, maybe don't kidnap Maddie again? Actions, Buck should've learned not to act on his impulse by now. Or even... marital status?

i have two more mcs besides her (as always lol) but for now!!! anne briars returns!! After getting her heart broken by a monochrome menace in her hometown, anne packs her shit and makes a run for fairfield, ny, usa. Her major in law (and minor in psychology) threw everyone for a loop, considering she'd wanted to drop out of high school. Nevertheless! she's back to her usual bullshit, despite the intense workload. With a closet filled with various aesthetics, she makes her keyframes debut!

Like the infamous campus boyfriend, many take their shot at a date with this peppy girl, but unlike Mr. Porter, Anne welcomes the attention. She's alot more sarcastic than her reputation claims, and some would claim her "too" approachable. Regardless, if you need anything at all--she's there to help!

the way HC grew up thinking he was weak, monstrous, repulsive, was told that he was cursed, and believed that he had to spend 800 years becoming better, stronger, more powerful, for XL, bc he wanted to protect XL -

but then he meets XL again, and shortly after becoming friends, XL tells HC that he doesn't care if HC is hideous, doesn't care if HC is a beggar or royalty, a ghost or human. later on, XL even tells HC that he doesn't care if HC is strong or weak, at his lowest or highest point, in worst or best moments - XL loves HC no matter what state HC may be in, he loves him simply bc he is HC.

and this unconditional love from XL is so important to HC, so healing for HC, and is exactly why it shaped HC so inexorably, both 800 years ago and 800 years later. bc XL truly is the kind of person who loves someone for who they are, not how they appear on the outside.

and HC fully reciprocates this unconditional love by loving XL no matter if XL is the god-pleasing crown prince or the broken husk of a man wearing bwx's mask trying to take revenge. HC returns this unconditional love by repeating XL's words back to him, what matters is you, not the state of you.
