Gujarat to Build Operation Sindoor Memorial Park Near Pakistan Border in Kutch

The Gujarat government has announced plans to build a special memorial park near the India-Pakistan border in Kutch to honor the bravery of Indian forces during Operation Sindoor, a recent military response to cross-border attacks.

The park, named ‘Sindoor Van’, will be developed on eight hectares of land in Mirzapar, along the Bhuj-Mandvi road. This area holds historical significance as it hosted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public meeting on May 26, shortly after Operation Sindoor.

Kutch District Collector Anand Patel said, “Sindoor Van is being developed to honor the courage of the Army, Air Force, BSF, and the unity shown by citizens during Operation Sindoor.”

A Forest-Themed Park with Symbolic Plants

The park will be created as a dense green space or micro forest featuring around 10,000 plants per hectare. A variety of herbs, shrubs, and trees, about 35 species, will be planted, with the Sindoor plant being the most prominent. This plant symbolizes strength and sacrifice.

“This will be one of the densest forests in Bhuj,” said Sandeep Kumar, Chief Conservator of Forests, Kutch. “The park will also have dedicated areas for the Army, Air Force, Navy, and BSF, with murals and displays showcasing their efforts during Operation Sindoor.”

A special section of the memorial will be dedicated to the victims of the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack. Among the 26 victims, three were from Gujarat, and this space will serve as a tribute to them.

Prime Minister’s Special Connection

During his visit to Bhuj, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was gifted a Sindoor plant by women from Madhapar. These women had once played a crucial role in repairing the Bhuj airbase runway within 72 hours during the 1971 war. The Prime Minister said he would plant the gift at his residence, where it would grow into a banyan tree, symbolizing strength and endurance.

Operation Sindoor was India’s strong response to more than 600 missile and drone attacks launched from across the border. According to Abhishek Pathak, Inspector General of BSF’s Gujarat Frontier, about 40% of the attacks were in Gujarat, especially in the Bhuj region, while the rest hit the Barmer area in Rajasthan. Security forces were able to successfully stop all of these attacks.

Memorial Park to Be Ready in 18 Months

The Sindoor Van project is expected to be completed in a year and a half. Once ready, it will not only honor the brave but also become a green landmark symbolizing India’s unity, strength, and commitment to peace.

In a bid to seek justice for her husband, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Sunita Kejriwal took the lead in the AAP campaign in Gujarat. Accompanying AAP MLA and Bharuch candidate Chaitar Vasava during a roadshow in Dediapada, Sunita highlighted the unjust incarceration of Vasava and her husband as a form of dictatorship.

Vasava, who had spent 48 days in jail for a case involving assault on forest officials, was joined by his wives Shakuntala and Varsha during the roadshow. Sunita passionately addressed the gathered crowd, emphasizing the similarities between Vasava’s wrongful imprisonment and her husband’s ordeal, urging voters to respond with their votes.

A star campaigner for AAP, Sunita accompanied the party’s candidates from Gujarat, including Umesh Makwana in Botad and Vasava in Dediapada, in a day-long schedule of campaigning. With AAP contesting only two Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat, a victory would mark a significant milestone for the party.

Aam Aadmi Party will contest four Lok Sabha seats in Delhi and the Congress three, the two constituents of the INDIA bloc said on Saturday as they announced their seat-sharing arrangements for the national capital, Gujarat, Goa and Haryana.

AAP General Secretary (organisation) Sandeep Pathak said his party entered into an alliance with the Congress by sidelining its own political interests as it believes that the “country is important and the party secondary”.

The BJP termed the Congress-AAP tie-up as an alliance of the “corrupt”, asserting that neither chemistry nor arithmetic favours the two parties against the NDA, the ruling combine led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Congress and the AAP are constituents of the INDIA bloc formed by opposition parties to take on the BJP in the upcoming general elections.

In a joint press conference in New Delhi according to PTI , Congress leader Mukul Wasnik announced the AAP will contest the Lok Sabha seats of New Delhi, West Delhi, South Delhi and East Delhi while his party will fight in Chandni Chowk, northeast Delhi and the northwest Delhi seats.

He said the Congress workers in Delhi will ensure that INDIA bloc candidates win all seven seats in the national capital.

Asserting that the alliance partners’ lack of confidence stems from the diminishing appeal of the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, Poonawalla declared, “It is not an alliance of ‘Modi Hatao’ but an alliance of ‘Congress ko ghatao’ (diminish Congress).” He suggested that the Congress should be given around 200 seats or less nationwide, attributing the emergence of regional parties to a gradual erosion of the Congress’ voter base.

Poonawalla cited the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) rise to power in Delhi as an example of how regional parties have eclipsed the Congress. He argued that the AAP gained prominence by superseding the Congress in both Delhi and Punjab, emphasizing their reluctance to revive a diminishing political force.

Taking a swipe at Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, Poonawalla remarked on the perceived decline in support for the party since the initiation of Rahul Gandhi’s “Nyay Yatra.” He listed instances where leaders like Mayawati, Mamata Banerjee, Milind Deora, and Ashok Chavan expressed dissatisfaction or distanced themselves from the Congress. Poonawalla predicted a widespread rejection of such alliances by the public.

Earlier, AAP MP Sandeep Pathak had offered the Congress one seat in Delhi, acknowledging the Congress party’s limited electoral success in the region. While the AAP plans to contest the remaining six seats, the gesture was made in the spirit of alliance and respect for the Congress party.
