hey so catelyn canonically used to brush and braid sansa’s hair herself. just btw. she’d send sansa’s attendants away and do it herself. and i am. not normal about that

My lady, look down on this battle with a mother's eyes. They are all sons, every one. Spare them if you can, and spare my own sons as well. Watch over Robb and Bran and Rickon. Would that I were with them. -ACOK, Catelyn IV

i love the way sansa is so proud to be catelyn's daughter. in a world where women are expected to assimilate to their husbands' world once they get married, there's sansa adopting her mother's gods into her creed, taking pride in having her mother's looks, often choosing to wear the colors of her mother's house and, most importantly, drawing strength from her mother's memory. what's so great about this is that it's not an act of spite against her father. she's just proud of being both stark and tully. it's like arya said: the woman is important too.

there’s something so special to me about the casual intimacy (both physical and emotional) of the stark family. robb carrying bran to his horse. bran holding robb’s hand to comfort him. jon ruffling arya’s hair and pushing her around and her laughing and pushing him right back. ned hugging sansa and arya in front of the entire king’s court. they’re always thinking about each other and missing each other. the kids cry and fight and play and are kids, and ned and catelyn are kind to one another, and it’s beautiful. it’s so warm, so human, in contrast with the coldness of other familial relationships in the book.

birth year of ASOIAF characters if AGOT took place in 2025:
a lot of the characters in ASOIAF were aged up for the show (with good reason in a lot of cases) but one thing that always strikes me about the books is how YOUNG most of them are.
so here are what their birth years would be if the books started in 2025 (pretend their birthday this year already happened).
this based on ages in AGOT- if we meet the character later I added a year or so depending on the book (also I split groups by decades for ease of reading).
Aemon: 1926
Tywin: 1970
Jorah: 1985
Davos (if ACOK is 2026) and Oberyn (if ASOS is 2026): 1986
Robert Baratheon: 1989
Ned: 1990
Stannis: 1991
Catelyn: 1992
Jaime, Cersei, and Lysa: 1994
Drogo: 1995
Littlefinger: 1996
Sandor: 1998
Tyrion: 2001
Viserys and Renly: 2004
Theon: 2006
Shae and Brienne (if ACOK is 2026): 2007
Loras: 2009
Jon, Robb, Samwell, and Margaery: 2011
Daenerys, Joffrey, and Meera (if ACOK is 2026): 2012
Sansa: 2014
Jojun (if ACOK is 2026): 2015
Arya: 2016
Bran and Myrcella: 2018
Tommon: 2019
Robert Arryn: 2020
Rickon: 2023
please comment if I got anything wrong/forgot anyone! (characters whose ages are too ambiguous I didn't include)

They threw her body into the river and called it mercy. But the Trident bore her back, crowned in vengeance, cradling death in her arms.
final product of this ask given to me by @bastardofharrenhal. Catelyn makes me feel a type of way

Day 4: House Stark
Arya, the lone wolf, still lived, but the wolves of the pack had been taken and slain and skinned.
