~ Eliot Daingerfield (1859–1932), The Moon Path, 1900
+
Then said my voices:
'Wherefore strive or run, On dusty highways ever, a vain race? The long night cometh, starless, void of sun, What light shall serve thee like her golden face?'
For I had pondered on a rune of roses, And knew some secrets which the moon discloses.

HEY I JUST REALIZED.
"lord of dendro...should go home too." -> such a tragically ironic line.
where is nahida's home?
it's not in the desert, because her past with king deshret is forever locked behind irminsul's deleted records.
it's not in vanarana, because she has duties to the people of sumeru as well as the forest.
and yet it's not in sumeru city, because, you know. *gestures at the entirety of nahida's birthday teaser, her archon quest, etc.* even though nahida is slowly re-integrating into her role as archon, she is still unsteady. we see this in part one of her story quest, where she works to balance her people's desires with the greater good. and she succeeds! but it's a learning process.
traveler knows she was rukkhadevata, but nahida doesn't. that's the crux of the archon quest - that the sages can't let go of rukkhadevata. that they don't believe nahida to be capable. it's even ingrained in their titles.
greater lord rukkhadevata. lesser lord kusanali.
so the point is, that while traveler knows nahida is more than capable of all the duties necessary of a nation's archon - she doesn't quite know that yet. nahida is, for all she's immortal, a child who has so, so much to learn from a nation that did its best to erase, imprison, and ignore her for five hundred years.
can you feel at home in a place that used to be your prison? i struggle to reconcile that. i believe that given time, it's possible. the sages are deposed, and honestly nahida seems much more forgiving than she should be. see story quest one - she's doing her best to listen and learn from the dreams and hopes of sumeru citizens.
but there is also, admittedly, a large amount of trauma nahida no doubt has from the previous sages' treatment. isolated for centuries on end. blamed for the demise of the 'better,' 'greater,' 'more capable' god. treated and contained like some mistake waiting to be replaced. because that's literally what the sages tried to do.
so i still, still wonder. for all that sumeru city has grown, for all that nahida has learned and will learn after being freed, for all that she seems to reside in the sanctuary of surasthana - can she consider it her home yet?
so it hit hard when the fungi said that nahida should go home too. because it got me thinking - where is home?
what is home, to the dendro archon, god of wisdom, once-prisoner of humans?
i hope nahida finds it. i love and wish her all the best.

16th December
O Sapienta
Tumblr media
Source: Wikipedia
December 16th is known as O Sapienta, which is one of the Antiphon texts chanted in church in the last weeks of Advent. The religious songs originated in the sixth century in the Ostrogothic/Roman realm in Italy and spread throughout church services in Christendom. In northern Europe today was also the start of Mince Pie Season, a Christmas tradition which continues to the present day, but unlike nowadays, in which mince pies are a delicious sweet and fruit-filled festive treat, the original pies consisted of genuine minced meat. An unpleasant aspect of this season therefore was the fact that the old mince pies, consisting of autumn offal, were actual minced meat dishes which were seasoned with sugar and spices to disguise the taste of the decaying flesh. Thankfully these days, the pies are entirely vegetarian.

Wisdom's Shadow
Chapter 1/6: Akara
“He’s still in a coma. I’ve hidden him like how one would hide a feather.” “I will wreak endless destruction on everything you love! This I promise you!”
After the Balladeer's fall, connections are forged - very carefully - and eventually, deals struck. Nahida greatly values the truth, after all, and this angry, violent and occasionally terrifying individual taking up room in her Sanctuary might one day even be a friend, if she plays her cards right.
Is a direct continuation of Sapienta Oromasdis, but can also be read as a standalone!

Asteroids Specifically About Astrology
~~~
[8958] Stargazer [24626] Astrowizard [1154] Astronomia [30] Urania [25000] Astrometria [6465] Zvedotchet (Russian for "Astrologer") [4090] Risehvezd (Czech for "realm of stars") [420356] Praamzius (Excellent sense and understanding of cycles and timing)
~
These tips from my chart can be helpful whether you enjoy Astrology as a casual hobby, in-depth hobby, or you're a student like me. I hope you find something here which is similar enough in your birth charts to help you along in your spiritual journey, or just historically interesting.
You can find your own asteroids for free at astro dot com, under extended charts, at the bottom of the page. This site works best with ipad / tablet & other computers as it's not optimized for mobile devices.
~
[8490] Companion - 28° 19' 56" [89580 Stargazer - 28° 44' 47" [584] Semiramis - 28° 55' 52" Libra, 7th house
Semiramis was a legendary queen regent of the Assyrian empire. She was a legendary warrior and commanded territory from Asia Minor to modern-day Iran. I command territory within Astrology, with authority and yet also with an air of companionability towards others; people give me valuable gifts when they tell me that my aura is calming and yet strong.
Scottish minister Alexander Hislop was known to say that together, Semiramis & husband Nimrod created a polytheistic religious system focused on the stars to lure "God’s chosen people" away from "true worship". This is yet another indication for why people sometimes misunderstand me as one of those stuck-up, flaky new-age types who annoy me too with their pretentions. I'm aware that I may sometimes come across as pretentious, though when people are patient, they discover that I'm just a happy-go-lucky nerd :) .
I gaze upon the stars, who are my companions. (You can't be surprised that I said that, as a Pisces rising ;) ).
As that all essentially involves the anaretic degree (29°), this is an area of the chart which asks for careful inspection, as it indicates particular importance & difficulty regarding crisis, the need for urgent decision-making, karma, fate, and necessary endings.
Everything must be brought into the justice of proper balance as regards shadow work.
square Venus in Leo - 2° 21' 32" 5th
Tension related to the above must become obvious enough to not be ignored, so that other methods are found for resolution. Finding and keeping a young-at-heart attitude is important for effectiveness in this area.
~
[24626] Astrowizard - 11° 40' 55" Arabic Lot Harmony - 12° 3' 12" Aries, 1st house
Driven to find and create harmony within the magic of Astrology.
square Ceres in Cancer - 12° 7' 44" 4th
Tense, painful emotions as regards my abilities as an Astrologer.
trine Vesta in Leo - 7° 5' 32" 5th
Harmony of desire to put aside personal wishes be of service to others for the sake of it and not for personal gain, through Astrology. All related to being an Astrologer: The discipline of sexual purity and celibacy, ritual spiritual transformation, singularly focused and dedicated to hard work, passion for maintaining focus, where ones inner flame burns and how it must be tended, difficulties focusing and keeping the light, sense of being inadequate & divorced from lifes mission, avoidance of marriage and children.
~
[1154] Astronomia - 12° 34' Critical ° [244] Sita - 12° 52' 29" Critical ° Pisces, 12th house
Cosmic dedication, self-sacrifice, purity, fertility, growth, feminine nobility, intelligence; highly virtuous Goddess energy involved.
trine Ceres in Cancer - 12° 7' 44" 4th
Harmony and / or laziness regarding the above, in the areas of "mother / daughter" dynamics & / or anything that grows or "grows". Sometimes involves powerfully harmonic, selfless cosmic nurturing.
~
[30] Urania - 14° 55' 20" [128523] Johnmuir - 15° 18' 46" [88] Thisbe - 15° 20' 12" [275] Sapienta - 15° 44' 24" [9395] Saint Michel - 15° 48' 32"
Libra, 7th house
Urania, known as "patron saint of Astrologers", is the ability to apply theory, principals or abstract knowledge to an immediate situation; Astrology & other systems which require applied knowledge of patterns.
Refined skills of discernment within Astrology and psychism, particularly in the area of tragic or forbidden romance. Includes Archangel Michael type energies of protection, judgement & defence of faith. Also involves themes of environmental philosophy & naturalism.
~
[62] Erato - 7° 6' 50" [13618] Haumea - 7° 12' 36" [25000] Astrometria - 7° 34' 36"
Cosmic, self-aware "measurements" involved in romantic writing, firm inner knowing, & regenerative creativity. I have strong inner confidence about my poetry, as writing has always been an instinctive form of release for me.
~
[6465] Zvedotchet - (critical) 3° 33' Gemini, 2nd house sextile Venus in Leo - 2° 21' 32" 4th
Playfulness in success as an Astrologer, with little effort.
Creative, responsible, thoughtful, childlike, fated play.
~
[80] Sappho - 15° 12' 52" [4090] Risehvezd - 15° 15' 12" Cancer, 4th house
Shared interests & values lead to finding common, nurturing ground with others, related to Astrology.
sextile Chiron in Taurus - 18° 06' 50" 2nd [315] Constantia - 16° 45' 22" 6th [1198] Atlantis - 17° 7' 34" 6th Sun - 17° 25' 26" 6th [390] Alma - 17° 37' 10" 6th [91] Aegina - 17° 56' 40" 6th Arabic Lot Merchandise I - 17° 25’ 6th
Harmony with only a bit of work, related to the above, and: Deeply spiritual inner knowingness along with balanced ego power, as regards ancient civilization, ET's, new age groups, psychic abilities, abuse of tech., interest in Astrology, occult knowledge, etc. Prosperity in mediation. Highly protected from things like scammy sales within the new age.
This is a big one for me as it involves my Virgo sun, and is in my 6th house of overall health and everyday routines. I tend to easily see through new age scams and cults, and without letting my ego get in the way, I'm able to help others heal from their harmful belief systems.
Ease within healing from core wounds, particularly as relates to the desire, need, and ability to bond with others.
~
[420356] Praamzius - 29° 26' 35" Imum Coeli / Lower Heavens - 29° 44' 34" Arabic Lot Cancer & Malignancy - 29° 21’ [2847] Parvati - 29° 54' 16" Gemini, 3rd house
Malignancy, eccentricity, solution orientation, strong sense of fate, comfortable with leadership & sense of past with present and future, within the most personal parts of life foundations and family. Parvati - magic / occult & romantic / sexual relationship energies to help resolve this critical degrees collection of difficulties.
in many ways i do think anakin and obi-wan can work as an extension of the fortitudo et sapienta concept as it exists in european medieval epics (typically: the song of roland)....
medieval epics celebrate heroes' military prowess, but they must also laud wisdom. the hero must be brave, but he cannot rely on this sole virtue, lest he fall into desmesure (excess). wisdom, or in other terms, measure, therefore serves to counterbalance the violence caused by the knight's prowess. said prowess should always be used to serve the community (and not personal interests). this concept materialises in epics with the creation of "epic couples", who represent those two values: in the chanson de roland, roland incarnates prowess (fortitudo), and olivier wisdom (sapientia).
i guess in this context the "desmesure" concept would be the dark side. obi-wan is the "wise" one out of the two of them whereas anakin has power. when they work together, they balance each other out, with obi-wan telling anakin off when anakin makes rash decisions. when anakin is sucked into the dark side and no longer relies on obi-wan, he becomes a killing machine, he grows so confident in his own power he is blinded and no longer has the wisdom; obi-wan even tries to warn him not to use the power of the dark side, but anakin, in his hubris, doesn't listen. which leads to devastating consequences.
Venezia masonic temple selfie
Magdalena ikaw ay sawimpalad Kailan ka nila maiintindihan. . .
"Magdalena" by Freddie Aguilar (1983)
Got a bit shocked to see the masonic symbols on the 1790 Chiesa della Santa Maria Maddalena (Church of Saint Mary Magdalene), in Venice, Italy.
Around 1222, there had already been a religious edifice in the site, and was later dedicated to Saint Mary Magdalene by the 14th century. During this period, Mary Magdalene was considered and important saint in the church, with several parishes and convents dedicated to her. Mary Magdalene was the patron saint of women.
The new church was designed by Arch. Tommaso Temanza (1705-1789) who was inspired by the Pantheon in Rome, but he was unable to complete it and he was buried within his masterpiece. The architect to finish the project was Giannantonio Selva (1751-1819).
During French rule of Venice, the church lost its status as a parish church 1810, and subsequently closed in 1820. When the building was reopened a few years later, it only served as a chapel. And in 1888, the bell tower was torn down due to its unstable foundation.
What is most striking of the Santa Maddalena is the masonic “the eye within the triangle” over the tympanum, with the inscription of “Sapienta aedificavit  sibi domun” (Wisdom built this House Herself) right below it. Some historians surmise that these symbols were placed by the chiesa’s sponsors, the prominent Balbo clan, who has strong tied to the ancient order of the Knights Templar.
However, it is also noted that Arch. Temanza was most likely influenced by his friend Andrea Memmo (1729-1793) who was the first most well-known Freemason in Venice.
Inside the Chiesa della Santa Maria Maddalenahas a collection of paintings by the Venetian master Giandomenico Tiepolo (1727-1804).
This picture was taken circa 2015
Aaaa I'm so glad you vibe with it heheheh. :D Wishful Thinking is the Akademiya Extravaganza from Wanderer's perspective with a background sort of plotline of Nahida overcoming some agoraphobia (she wasn't present for any of it! I had to tackle that :P).
My stories are Wanderer-centric, but I also make room for other characters, Nahida first and foremost. The Return of the Sabzeruz Festival is her Perfect Birthday, 12.000 words of Nahida-indulgent fluff :P
And A Cage of Your Own Making is Nahida helping Furina and dealing with Wanderer's nonsense while also being a little sister of sorts, and getting the attention even Furina in her low moods senses she needs. Featuring her in a flowery dress dancing in a circle with Melusines eventually.
I have more in the overarching series but I think these are my Nahida highlights :P Oh yeah, a slow, calm thing right after she's freed as well: Sapienta Oromasdis
Also, gladly offering my limbs. Legs first pls. I do need my hands for more writing. ;P
can we ao3ers please get some wanderer adopting nahida instead of her adopting him. it'd be really awesome thanks.
As usual with Genshin Impact's English dub, the Sumeru pronunciations/spellings are going to be my villain origin story. Here is a guide to a few of the Arabic ones.
If we're calling him Al-Haitham, we should be calling Tighnari as Al-Tighnari. Because "al" is not part of the name; it is an article, like "the" or "a".
Zubayr Arabic (زُبَيْر) is like zoo-bei-r, or zoo-bai-r. This is the name of the owner of the theatre Nilou performs at
Layla is like lai-la in Arabic (ليلى) and like lei-la in Persian (لیلا)
Haitham Arabic (هيثم) The hai should be pronounced high; it should rhyme with Yae as in Yae Miko. In fact, Haitham is commonly romanised as Haytham. If we go with the Haytham spelling, then the game's pronunciation would be match. It's really a matter of consistency.
Tighnari Arabic (طغنري) This one is the one that really bothers me. Tigh does not rhyme with the English word thigh. The gh makes a different sound, that we don't have in English. You could say tg-nari, emphasis on the first syllable. There is an example of how to pronounce it one Wikipedia.
Nahida is a name used in Arabic and several languages, but comes from Persian (ناهید). The emphasis should be on the first syllable; NA-hi-da, not na-HI-da.
Chapter 6: The Fruit of Reason’s Culmination
Nahida gathers all that she's learned, and takes on the next challenge.
Nahida closed her mouth, thinking it over. “Hmm. It’s not entirely compassion,” she conceded. “It’s a desire to show him the extent of exactly what he did, too – and it’s for the sake of my own curiosity as well. I’ve… grown curious to find out the extent of my own abilities, and find myself eager to take on a new challenge… is that terrible of me?” Her curiosity did get in the way of her empathy. She could imagine it was unnerving to some, insulting to others…
It is FINISHED ahh it's so good to close off a WIP! :D ...There is the minor fact of two more works being very much planned, though... XD
