can you give like a dnf overview for those of us who know almost nothing but are sooo curious (minecraft? face reveal? queer?)(i follow for dnp lol)

Okay so... I'm gonna try and do a bullet point overview and for the purpose of not getting in the weeds I am not going into the controversies. I'll be happy to discuss that part - OFF anon.

Dream and George met on a Minecraft server when Dream was 16, George was 18/19 and became best friends.

When Dream decided to start youtube when he was 18, he asked George (and Sapnap) to come along with him. They both said yes.

In 2019, George started talking about moving to America. At the time Dream lived with his girlfriend, though they broke up by 2020. (George and the girlfriend did not get along. But that's also a whole other can of worms because she fucked Dream up pretty badly with consistent cheating and verbal/physical abuse.)

Plans for George to move to the US got more concrete and at some point over 2021 became him moving into a house with Dream and Sapnap.

Dream also came out multiple times in this general period of time. He came out in a post on reddit, on twitter, and on a stream. He does not explicitly state that he's bisexual, but he does explicitly state he isn't straight.

Sapnap had already moved in with Dream for Dream's protection since he was being swatted pretty regularly. Dream had plans for a face reveal but people were stalking and harassing him both to 'reveal' him and also because at this point the Kiwi Farms targeted attack on him had gained a lot of steam.

Speaking of: George used face cam pretty regularly, but Dream did not face reveal. Based on things he's said it seems pretty clear he was trying to lose weight but at some point set the goal of face revealing once George was in America because he wanted George to see his face before anyone else.

George applied for his Visa and would have had about a 6-9 month wait, and then was denied. He had to apply a second time, and wait another extended period of time, which put it September 2022 when his visa finally was approved. This means they'd known each other for seven years and he'd been trying to move to the US to live with Dream for three years at that point.

George arrived in the US and Dream posted his first video with a face camera on. George posted a vlog meeting Dream irl for the first time, which is a great starting point for a watch.

In terms of the ship stuff: they've always had a heavily flirtatious relationship and Dream is open about how attractive he finds George. They've acknowledging having a conversation about if they'd date or not.

Once in a while Dream will reiterate that they're not dating, and we know he spent 2023 having a variety of hookups but no confirmed relationships. (Which lines up with his long history of women that flirt with him complaining he'll be great to them and make them feel good but always says he doesn't want a relationship.)

2023 was pretty wild for them in terms of nonstop travel, events, and making very little content besides Dream's music. So far in 2024 we've seen a complete 180 of that and Dream and George have noy traveled at all, staying at home in Orlando together. (Sapnap has traveled and spent time in LA, but alone.)

This is partially due to controversy, I'm sure, but also seems to be just in line with a rededicating of themselves to Minecraft and content impending. They're working on a project that hopefully will come out soon.

Right now in terms of what they've publicly told us, they're just in the category of Super Not Normal About Each Other. Here are a few of the Not Normal things that are just fun from a shippy pov:

Before George moved, they were open about living most of their life on a call together. This includes sleep calling and staying on the phone while taking showers.

One of Dream's early videos was gifting his friends money to thank them for supporting him. He gave Sapnap and another friend $500 each. He gave George $5000.

Dream took 'am I in love with my best friend' quizzes on stream twice with George on the call and neither treated it quite like a joke.

Dream sent George an oversized Dream hoodie which George has worn repeatedly and even admitted to spraying with cologne before he'd put it on. Dream took pictures of George in the hoodie (a private call, not one fans were in on) and then later shared them saying they were the cutest pictures of George ever.

The first time we really got to see them interact irl at length was a stream they did around Christmas. Here's a supercut that just really shows the vibe between them.

Initially in late 2022 Dream was wearing a very specific chain. At some point in January 2023, George started wearing that chain (the specific one Dream used to wear) and has not been spotted without it since.

At one of his concerts Dream described George as a friend he just met a year ago that he's so in love with.

The entire song Spotlight which everyone immediately associated with George, to George's embarrassment and pride.

And there's obviously way more... but I feel like this is a good starter kit for Them.

Welp speaking of plans, thanks to @dr3amofagame’s post [here] with related linked posts, I can’t help but find myself once again thinking about staged duo’s Plan. And I’m not really sure I have any great theories on the matter, as has been pointed out it’s very hard to weed through the lies and truth of what staged duo said on their stage after all.

Having said that though, something I do find interesting is that clingy duo seem to interpret the immorality as never growing old and living forever, but given what we know about the resets, I wonder if it’s more about wanting to finish this cycle. Whether it’s less live forever and more live life with my friends till I grow old without it being cut short prematurely. “I don’t want this is be temporary” -> I don’t want to die and it be permanent - but maybe it’s not death in respect to canon lives (since that “doesn’t matter”) but perhaps the ultimate death via the reset that perhaps Dream and Punz discovered in their research. Maybe it wasn’t about being immortal as we think of it, but about being able to live this lifetime to completion.

On one hand, if their goal was always to have one big family again, presumably then maybe they wanted the reset. They were so relaxed because they knew it didn’t matter in the end because the world was being reset and maybe they had made peace with that - that things could be simple again. On the other hand, maybe it wasn’t just about any family but to be with the friends they love and care about without wars and conflict dividing them. In either case, I don’t think they really caused the reset. Like dr3 is right, Foolish’s death toll, the Egg and stuff were far more influential then them killing some people and bringing them back. After all, XD gave them the book, surely he knew what would happen. So then let’s say they sensed the reset coming and wanted to prevent it.

And perhaps death is the problem and the solution - it’s the problem because DreamXD wants to reset the world because there isn’t enough death to power him. But by also weakening him it makes him more vulnerable to be defeated. Death then is the cause of the need for restart and yet a possible solution to preventing it. Maybe Lazar and Vik weren’t mistakes because of their experiments and breaking the balance or whatever, but because they killed them fully giving XD power through their souls.

Maybe they purposely wanted everyone to come after them so the Egg didn’t get the souls it needed. Maybe if they did actually intend to kill everyone the thought was that they’d just bring them back, keeping the power out of the supernatural greater beings hands’. But then again, I do think that killing everyone wasn’t really the point - that feels like a page out of a typical villain book like some Thanos bs or something, which makes sense when we consider he took a play right out of Loki’s book by staging his capture.

Maybe then they panicked at the end about the nuke because it would kill a whole lot of people too and so they didn’t want to give XD more power to reset. Or as long as they (Dream and Punz) are alive death is impermanent so maybe they planned to bring people back after they died from the Egg - like stop any apocalypse that XD tried to cause like he does in the other timelines with the Egg or a character murder spree. Like XD doesn’t seem to have the power to reset them unless they are all dead so maybe Punz and Dream’s plan was to keep that from happening and hey if everyone came to them then it’s easy to keep them from killing eachother, Pandora keeps them safe from the Egg and if everyone’s inside no one can use the nukes. Maybe the saw room was actually for them, for one of them to stay and the other to escape - after all as long as one of them lives they cannot die. Maybe the reason they were worried about Wilbur, Sapnap, Quackity was because those were Dream’s most active threats and the ones with the means and likelihood to cause problems and play a role in strengthening XD and ending the world, Tommy doesn’t really fit in those categories of concern - “I was focused on everyone but you.”

I don’t know… but it’s interesting to think about for sure as well as the question always on my mind - WHY WERE THEY IN THE MAIN CELL WHEN TOMMY ARRIVED?!………..

RAT , Content SMP - Fuckin Endust... I took things before then. A couple times, because I never quite learned my lesson. Never had any good trips though, so that was quite stupid on my side. But mostly, I remember Endust and how bad that went, probably because it was actually shown in source.

Emizel Tucker , Just Roll With It : The Suckening - Yeah. I got no comment here. I smoked and drank, simple as that. I stopped doing after I turned, of course, but I used too. Sometimes when me and the other Demons were together, we'd fuck around and find out. Simple as that. Across the board of different things we'd take. I know some were pretty hard fucking drugs. I don't. recall the name of em now, but some had effects that lasted for days. Weeks, even. But I most definitely got hella high with Soda many, many times.

Rolan Deep , Just Roll With It : Blood in the Bayou - I both smoked a few times and was an alcoholic. I more so smoked back in highschool, which is why Kian and Rand gave me so much shit about being so "against" drugs. In terms of highschool, I could not hold a high and greened out. Alot. I could drink anyone in the friend group under the table though, so that's fun.

Dream SMP - I'm just gonna group all of the together. I am atleast 7 different people from this series, and including multiple TLs and canons and other sources, I can't confidently say there's a kin that I didn't take something. Dream and Phil are probably the best I have for taking nothing. But that's a big if. I don't know if I took things as RFTS! Fundy, since. Memory issues. I took drugs as Tommy, Wilbur, Fundy, and Tubbo, and was a massive alcoholic for a while in my main Tubbo canon. I did smoke a few times in my main Sapnap TL. Drugs were very prominent in this source.

Grian , Yandere High School / Tokyo Soul , EVO SMP - I am. Grian from more sources, but in simple terms, YHS / TS, I was high as fuck sometimes. Oh, I drank as well, and probably took a plethora of drugs I don't know at all, but I smoked so much fuckin weed. That whole school did. The teachers too. I think YHS was worse that TS in that regard, since. well. they actually gave more of a shit at TS. I carried into EVO a bit but stopped before Hermitcraft. So, there's that.

Joel , Hermitcraft - I have no comment here. I put HC, but it was actually in my Hardcore server. I guess I did a bit in HC, but eh. Mostly in the Hardcore world, and a few times in DL, because me and Eefo wanted to test something out. 10/10, enjoyed. Would do again.

Dabi , My Hero Academia - Once or twice. I had cigs a lot, if that counts for anything. My body was already dying, might as well have fun with it. I don't think I did more than that? I may have gotten high with Twice once or twice though, I'm not sure. In my main canon atleast, I got high several times in another canon. Oh god, did I get high then.

Midoriya Izuku , My Hero Academia - I have several TLs / canons where I did things down the board for a long, long time. I have some that I don't think I was ever sober, and some where I never touched anything a day in my life. Really just depends.

And. I don't think there's more? There might be, but I'm not sure off the top of my head. Just. these are for sure ones where I took something atleast once. Which. is less that I expected. Fully expected to have confidence in taking stuff in more canons, but this is probably still a lot lol.

Dream Team:

-Weed. Should go without saying, they all give stoner vibes. Sapnap's probably the one who gets the most weed, so they all just split his stash. Shitty joints that haven't been rolled properly are a big thing in their household.

Wilbur:

-Coke. It's an upper and helps him a lot when he's struggling. It's also good for weight loss. It also helps keep him awake and he feels a lot more productive during this time.

-I could also see him going for something that relaxes him more such as heroin.

Niki:

-In the same vein, I can also see Niki using coke for weight loss. I can also see her using something like morphine that generally has calming effects or things that have a pain-relieving aspect to them. She doesn't like to feel wired.

-I can also see her getting into club drugs such as ecstasy, thinking specifically about her Coachella looks for this one.

Like you'd take LSD with this girl.

Cooper:

-Again, weed is a big one for him. He'd also be big into anything else that helps him mellow out. He's tried speedballing at least a couple times. (The act of mixing an upper with a downer, most often cocaine and heroin.) He doesn't like it, though.

Karl:

-He'd end up abusing Ritalin or Adderall. It begins as an actual prescription he has and end up spiraling over time.

Ted:

-Would slowly get back into weed. He stepped away from it for a long time after his gummy incident, but gets back into it over time.
