अहमदाबाद में एयर इंडिया के विमान बोइंग 787-8 ड्रीमलाइनर क्रैश होने की वजह से 260 से ज्यादा लोग मारे गए हैं. विमान हादसे के एक दिन बाद एयर इंडिया ने कहा है कि 241 यात्रियों की मौत हुई है, 1 यात्री जिंदा बचा है. प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी खुद स्थिति का जायजा लेने अहमदाबाद पहुंचे हैं. हादसे के बाद मेघनीनगर में अभी तक मलबा पूरी तरह से साफ नहीं हो पाया है. गुरुवार देर रात तक विमान का ब्लैक बॉक्स तलाशा जा रहा था. ब्लैक बॉक्स को ही फ्लाइट डेटा रिकॉर्डर और कॉकपिट वॉयस रिकॉर्डर भी कहते हैं.  

हादसे की सटीक वजह अभी तक पता नहीं चल पाई है. जब तक ब्लैक बॉक्स नहीं मिलेगा, आखिरी पलों के बारे में सारी जानकारी नहीं मिल पाएगी. केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने एकमात्र जीवित बचे शख्स रमेश कुमार विश्वास से बात की है. अब 241 मृतकों की पहचान के लिए डीएनए टेस्ट किए जा रहे हैं. एयर इंडिया के स्वामित्व वाले टाटा ग्रुप ने हर परिवार को 1 करोड़ रुपये का मुआवजा देने का ऐलान किया है.

मॉन्ट्रियल कन्वेंशन संधि के तहत एयर इंडिया को हर मारे गए शख्स को 1.5 करोड़ रुपये का मुआवजा देना होगा. विमान का भी बीमा हुआ था. अहमदाबाद का सरदार वल्लभभाई पटेल एयर पोर्ट, अब आंशिक रूप से चालू कर दिया गया है.
