I finally got this done, i wanted to do a line up of my duck dodgers ocs for a while along with doing a little style experiment…

sooo without further ado…

Monarch Adonis Oleander is the current ruler of Faleniidae, he is ruling the planet with an iron fist, A cold, serious falenian who will stop at nothing to keep his place on the throne as well as control… Acantha Von Belladonna is a traveling assassin who is a smart induvial who is very playful…but dangerous. They used to work as the monarch's personal body guard…though they don't seem to talk about that life or their home much. Lady Rhea Muzaka is the daughter of a well known martian merchant who has trade routes in almost all corners of the galaxy. She is expected to eventually take over the family business though…she would rather be a historian. She is soft-spoken and very shy. But very passionate about history and preserving it. Jeremy Callahan is the son of a well known explorer within the Galactic Protectorate. Jeremy is a anxious man who can get very carried away when it comes to all things relating to science. However…it seems like he is one of the few who gets in the way of Acantha's plots..

Encontro com Rama, de Arthur C. Clarke [RESENHA]

Os meteoros sempre foram corpos celestes que, ao mesmo tempo, fascinaram e amedrontaram a raça humana, devido ao seu inegável potencial de causar um evento de extinção – como, de fato, ocorreu a milhões de anos com os dinossauros. Muito desse medo está relacionado, também, a completa impotência do ser humano ante esses corpos: o que fazer para mudar sua trajetória e impedir que um corpo errante se choque contra a Terra?

A essas perguntas diversas respostas foram dadas, todas elas no campo das teorias, e muitas absurdas. Em Encontro com Rama, livro lançado em 1973 por Arthur C. Clarke, um dos maiores nomes da ficção científica de todos os tempos – basta dizer que é o autor de 2001: Uma Odisseia no Espaço – a Terra fora atingida 3 vezes por estes corpos, causando incontáveis mortes, e grandes prejuízos materiais.

A fim de evitar que o fato se repetisse, foi criado o programa Spaceguard, que tratava de localizar, catalogar e vigiar estes corpos celestes, sendo possível inclusive reconhecer sua rota no espaço e saber se tratava-se de um risco a humanidade. Foi assim que avistaram um objeto além da órbita de Júpiter, catalogado pelo número 31/439, que não parecia ter nada de especial, até que se tomou consciência de que seu tamanho era gigantesco e que sua trajetória cruzaria com a órbita de diversos planetas do sistema solar. Passaram a chamá-lo Rama, e ele tornou-se, de repente, o centro das atenções.

Neste ponto do livro os acontecimentos acontecem bastante rápido: sabe-se em sequência que Rama é cilíndrico e, provavelmente, oco. Tal objeto tão singular, e talvez o primeiro encontro interestelar de duas formas de vida inteligentes da história da humanidade devia ser visto mais de perto, então designam o Comandante Norton, da Endeavour, para pousar no “asteroide”. Em Rama, o Comandante Norton terá a difícil missão de explorar o lugar, grandioso, convivendo com o dilema de não ter tempo suficiente para proceder com uma exploração minuciosa, assim como não gostaria de provocar qualquer tipo de dano à estrutura, tudo isso somado ao fato de que, em hipótese alguma, deseja expor sua tripulação a riscos desnecessários.

A partir daqui, Clarke diminui a velocidade dos acontecimentos, liberando homeopaticamente as informações sobre o estranho mundo. A narrativa é bastante consistente, e Clarke se mostra “de posse” dos fatos, mantendo o ritmo de forma que cada nova descoberta produza no leitor uma surpresa única, tornando-a ainda mais impactante. As descrições do interior de Rama são o ponto forte do livro, mas não é tão fácil imaginar um mundo cilíndrico, onde tudo parece ser feito em grupos de três, e a intervalos de 120º. Existe, por exemplo, escadarias com milhares de degraus, estendendo-se a alturas quilométricas, e o mais curioso de tudo, um mar cilíndrico.

Foi o ponto da descrição de Rama que tive mais dificuldade em assimilar. A imagem que se forma ao imaginarmos que navegamos por um mar com as mesmas dimensões e quantidades de água subindo pelas paredes ao nosso redor e também no teto é de esmagar qualquer coração. Imaginem uma garrafa com água em seu interior, agora coloquem a garrafa na horizontal e imaginem que a água, por for��a de uma estranha gravidade, fique colada a parede, formando um imenso vazio no centro, como em um anel. Agora coloque isso numa escala milhares de vezes maior e podem ter uma ideia.

Fora isso e o texto é bastante leve, e até mesmo bem-humorado, como na passagem em que Norton questiona a presença de mulheres com certas “aptidões” físicas à bordo de naves espaciais:

"O Comandante Norton havia decidido há muito que certas mulheres não deveriam ser admitidas a bordo; a imponderabilidade tinha, sobre os seus seios, efeitos tremendamente perturbadores. O caso já era sério quando ficavam imóveis; mas quando se punham em movimento e estabeleciam-se vibrações harmônicas, a dose era excessiva para quem não tivesse autocontrole. Estava convicto de que pelo menos um grave acidente espacial fora causado pela estupefação dos tripulantes à passagem de uma bem-dotada oficial pela cabine de comando."

Primeiro de quatro livros da série Rama, Encontro com Rama é, em muitos aspectos, uma grande introdução do que virá a seguir, e é pressentido por um dos personagens no final do livro

Out of spite and in the general spirit of Hel, (tricksy fire gremlin that she is), this is now my MAIN FC:

I was already toying with the idea of it, since I have made over 2000 icons of this character (And counting!) and my icons of Rachel were not even by me but by by thehollowedartists.

It'd be nice to use MY icons. I never do that but I make SO many. XD
