Ok, so au where Scott dates Young Neil instead of Knives. If you want to be canon adjacent you can have him be a shitty boyfriend and have Young Neil grow on his own and be a bit bitter towards Scott ( I imagine this would be in the comic continuity) or if you want canon divergent you can have them be cute and good together but have them end things mutually and remain friends. Any option is better than having either of them date Knives.
