heeey they graphically updated the ARR world leaders with custom models (well. Nanamo has one too but she seems the same to my eyes and she seems like a normal lala when not wearing her full costume?)...

Aside from Raubahn and Merlwyb somehow being even hotter I have to shout out Kan-E's unicorn necklace's radical improvement :D

Aymeric, Lyse and Hien remained low poly at the Alliance meeting, as did poor HW-style Thancred, who just dramatically collapsed in order to travel the rift into graphical fidelity...

Also very funny that earlier Asahai showed up with the old graphics, but Maxima was already boasting full new skin textures despite having of course a way more custom model than the completely character creator ready Hyur next to him... This is the exact right time in the game's history to be in late Stormblood to enjoy the roll out.

Finally got myself to level 100 blacksmith... Rral Soj, doing your quest was so worth the crafting grind <3 The lighting and colours in Tuliyollal are absolutely gorgeous at sunset... so similar to how a good sunset looks on the beaches here, it's almost like I took my boy down to the island and told him to pose on the pier.

plodding along at gathering mogstones via ocean fishing, got 10k on the indigo route on saturday and thus acquired the shark mount. have started working on the ruby route, today got approx 8500 pts so no minion yet but getting close.

been low energy so mostly have been working on hanya traces and building sampo. but did some of the side quests where you adjust the emotions of various npcs to the point of being up crazy late fri night. finally tried the hanu event yesterday and actually like it a lot, it's chill, just doing various of the new puzzle types (which're fun imo). got through all the shallow level ones, and the first two types of the deep levels so far. picked guinaifen as my free 4*, since i'm very low on fire dps (only himeko so far). plus guin's another dot character--so now i'll have her as well as sampo and the serval and luka i already had.

which means now i'm building sampo and guin both, but also checking luka's relics to make sure if any need switching out. lucky caverns is one of the weeklies, bc suddenly needing the deep confinement set a ton. which unfortunately means i'm still not getting ratio that pioneer diver set yet, though at least his dmg is still really good even with the wastelanders relics he already had.

at least sim u is going better so far, last wk was a fucking mess on world 8, with that shitfuck luofu elite with the fans once again doing a stun everyone/tpk shitshow, then yanqing managing to fuck over my luocha on my next attempt, which avalanched into fail. this time got him down with only one near death (luckily had that destr card that rezzes a downed character).

also finally getting back to working on the margat custom deliveries in xiv and grinding for purple scrip. have the 620 blue gathering set left/right so far, will do tools next then do the same for crafting. i know the relic tools aren't bad this time but i still dk if i'll bother.

Something I find funny today:

I idled in Radz-at-Han a lot, over the course of Endwalker's life. I liked the day and night themes, and I loved how lively the city felt, with people arriving at the aetheryte and running off to whatever business they had there. It felt natural to go there, hit up the endgame gear vendors, then hang out by the retainer bell in the aetheryte plaza, people watching. And if I needed the market board, I would port back to Dusk's house, rather than go to Sharlayan, a place I just do not vibe with.

I HATE going to Solution 9. I dart in, spend my tomestones/books/whatever and then L E A V E. I hate how sterile the city is, I hate the droning lo-fi theme, I hate the immobile crowd of crafters all facing away from each other as they mindlessly grind their scrips (even as I understand it, I promise <3). I hate all the NPCs still wearing those goddamn regulators. I can't stop thinking about how awful I found the place during the MSQ, how the only place that felt alive to me in the entire place is the seedy area where the raids are. It's dystopian as fuck to me.

And when I need a marketboard ... half the time I port to Tuliyollal. Because that place is alive, it has day and night themes, the mass of crafters there get up and move more than once in a blue moon because they're mostly still leveling, so are running off to hand in leves or get their new class quest or what have you, while other people run by to whatever business they have there.

And I love that, I love that Solution 9 gets such a visceral reaction out of me, this long after I first arrived there. If it's supposed to feel Wrong - and I have every reason to believe it is, of course - they did a fantastic job of making it Wrong and keeping it Wrong, even with people doing their little MMO endgame tasks in it. And I love that Tuliyollal is such a stark contrast to it, long after the MSQ stops pointing it out to us.
