Finally getting around to drawing character references. Started with this lad a while ago since I was in a train mood. Obviously no better character to draw in relation o trains than good old Jack McLane.
Tumblr media
General information:
-Worked as an fireman and engineer for the Southern Ditch Creek Railroad. (And later BNSF)
-He was well known before his accident, often going over the allowed speed to get trains in on time, but never had a wreck.
-Was always telling stories of ghost trains, wrecks, accidents, and just silly harmless mistakes of fellow workers.
-He had one of the most famous accidents in the railroad’s history. Where when driving one of the railroad’s famous Steel Gator passenger trains, engine number 715 named Anchor, the bridge over the Mississippi River collapsed with the train on it. Of all the people on board, only Jack McLane(engineer), Lewis Dudley(fireman), and George Farman(conductor) survived the wreck by jumping from the train before it hit the water and what parts of it that weren’t submerged, caught fire from the engine’s embers that went everywhere.
-Jack was generally well liked by the people he worked with. Often telling stories, pulling his weight, and being friendly.
-Jack is certified to drive both steam and diesel locomotives on class one railroads. Despite this he’s never driven an electric.
-Jack is often the bane of his boss’s existence, breaking and bending the rules without ever causing trouble, and being one of the best workers around so it’s not worth the loss to fire him.
