A fossilized fish tooth of a Xiphactinus vetus or X-fish from the Blufftown Formation in Barbour County, Alabama, United States. The species of X-fish was originally misidentified as a mosasaur under the species, Polygonodon vetus. Xiphactinus vetus can be distinguished from Xiphactinus audax from the prominent carinae and cross-section shape.

Gentle Start: my first 200k audax
I’m a randonneur now! We survived yesterday’s 200k audax on the Gentle Start route. My alarm went off at 6; with a local start, it was nice to be able to have a relaxed breakfast at home before trundling down to the start point. As we were getting ready to leave, Thorn came by, hoping we’d be distracted enough that he would be able to sneak into the house.

We got to the Tim Horton’s with plenty of time to spare, so Dan got a bagel and some coffee and we used the facilities. We got handed our brevet cards, got our bikes safety checked, and shortly thereafter we were on our way.

The roads leading out were pretty familiar since they are our local roads. We’d also attempted this route by ourselves last July so I had a general idea of what the first half of the route was like (it appears I didn’t write about that failed attempt anywhere, but the short version is, it was HOT, very HOT and I had a meltdown).
Our first checkpoint was in St George, and as we rolled through town we noticed a bunch of the other cyclists at the deli. I was ready for some real food, so we happily stopped. I bought Dan a full sandwich - it was a LOT of food. I got myself a half and a mini quiche - I later wished I’d purchased more mini quiches, they were perfect.

We carried on, heading north now, with a fair amount of head/cross-wind. We made it past the point where we’d had to cut the ride short last year and then we were on to new territory! By this point, my left hip was feeling a bit niggly but it wasn’t awful. We made it to Hespeler Village and the Mill Pond which was approximately half way. We got some pictures, I ate my quiche and then we carried on.

The next checkpoint was at about 106km, at a golf course (picture in the collage below). After the golf course we turned onto Shantz Station Road and that’s when the misery really started. It was a long unsheltered stretch of road where at points it felt like I was struggling to stay upright against the wind. My hip was getting really bad too - with pain in my lower back and hip flexor making it very uncomfortable to ride. I’d say the 50km between 110km and 160km were the worst. We stopped multiple times so that I could stretch out my hip flexors, but it was definitely getting unmanageable. I was wondering about how I could bail, but there was no easy way home at that point so we just continued on the route, stopping every 3/5/7km (depending on my tolerance) to stop. Finally, Dan had the great idea that my saddle might be in the wrong place, so we moved it to open up my hip angle. That seemed to work, and by the time we got to the 100 mile mark, it felt like this might be possible.

The final checkpoint was at 166km, at the Trail Eatery. It was closed by the time we got there so we went to a nearby gas station and I had some peanut butter cups. We also saw quite a few of the other riders who had overtaken us while I struggled so we were pleased to see that we weren’t too far behind.

The section after the final checkpoint was back in relatively familiar territory for us. It was trending downhill as we came off the escarpment and knowing the roads means that you can tick off the mental milestones. In the last 20ish km we came across one of our fellow riders who had taken a big tumble. There was already a medic with him, so we double checked that things were in hand and carried on. We made it back to the start/finish point and grabbed a snack. Then I sat there, sipping some chicken noodle soup while Dan rode the 8k back home (uphill and into the headwind - my hero) to get the car.

This was my longest ride ever by about 30km. My legs were pretty tired by the end and a little sore when I went to bed so I grabbed some extra pillows so that I could sleep with them elevated. This morning I didn’t feel awful and I’m already contemplating getting out for an easy spin this afternoon to keep things loose. But maybe I’ll have a nap first :)

• Rhodesian Air Training Group
Motto: Tica Simba Nezana- "Strength will come to us through our fledgelings."
The Rhodesian Air Training Group was a Royal Air Force (RAF) training unit and base for Allied and commonwealth pilots to train in africa in Rhodesia, (modern day Zimbabwe).
Before WWII even started the British Air Ministry had begun planning to set up air training centres outside Britain; away from where there was air activity over the country and where the weather could be relied upon to be consistently good. Canada was the first country to be first chosen, the scheme being called the Empire Air Training Scheme. Ultimately the countries involved in training aircrew comprising pilots, navigators, bomb aimers, air gunners, wireless operators and flight engineers included Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Southern Rhodesia and the United States. At the outbreak of war in September 1939, the facilities in Rhodesia for air training were too small to be of any assistance to the Royal Air Force (RAF) Major D. Cloete, M.C., A.F.C. had been charge of a small air training scheme from 1937 of two RAF Officers and twelve other ranks who were seconded to Rhodesia with four Audax and six Hart aircraft and based at Hillside (later renamed Cranborne) but they only trained local Rhodesian territorial forces and personnel from the Rhodesia Regiment. In 1938 the unit was separated from territorial force and on May 12th, 1938 the Governor, Sir Herbert Stanley, presented the first seven Rhodesian flying badges at a parade at Hillside. There was an agreement that, in the event of war, Rhodesia would send an air unit to Kenya for service with the RAF and accordingly three Audax and three Hart aircraft were despatched on August 28th, 1939, six days before the actual declaration of war.
Lieut.-Col. C.W. Meredith arrived in Rhodesia in June 1939 as Staff Officer Air Services and Director of Civil Aviation. The British Air Ministry were very interested in expanding the air training into a much larger program as they wanted most, if not all, air training out of England and to involve the training of other allied personnel as well as Rhodesians. It was decided to start off in Rhodesia with one initial training wing through which pupils would pass on to three Elementary Flying Training Schools (EFTS) and matching them, three Service Flying Training Schools (SFTS) The establishment of six new Air Stations required a considerable amount of building, all of which had to be done using local resources. In Salisbury (now Harare) the EFTS was at Belvedere, with the SFTS at Cranborne; the second pair of schools would be established at Bulawayo (Induna and Kumalo) with the third pair at Gwelo (Guinea Fowl and Thornhill). At this early stage in January 1940, Meredith’s staff consisted of two territorial officers who had joined at the outbreak of war for administrative duties, and a typist. Initially RATG headquarters were based in the Salisbury suburb of Belvedere and with a heavy building program ahead, the immediate need was for staff to cope with layouts, design and construction of airfields and hangers, supplies of building materials and finance and accounting. At Cranborne total strength of the air station was 137 officers and other ranks with 16 aircraft available for training. These comprised four serviceable Harts, one Audax waiting rebuilding, eight serviceable Tiger Moths and one being repaired, and two Hornet Moths.
Major C. W. Glass MC, an architect by profession, was released from his civilian employment with the Public Works Department and agreed to transfer with the rank of Squadron Leader, later Wing Commander, with the title of Director of Works and Buildings. His Section was wholly responsible for the layout of Air Stations and the design and construction of buildings for whatever purpose. Later after building had been completed additional sections were added included air staff, air training, signals, armament, administration, equipment, engineering, personnel, medical and legal. In April 1940 the Rhodesian Air Force Training Scheme and the Empire Air Force training Scheme really began; but was known locally as the Rhodesian Air Training Group. In the same month the first draft of pupil pilots arrived at Belvedere and the air station was declared officially opened by Air Chief Marshall Sir Robert Brooke-Popham, in the presence of the Prime Minister Godfrey Huggins, E.L. Guest and C.W. Meredith. The first group graduated from elementary air school in July and by November 2nd, 1940 the first pilots to be trained by the RATG passed out at Cranborne air station, five of whom were Rhodesians. When war broke out in 1939 the Air Ministry employed the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (RAFVR) as the principal source of aircrew into the RAF and this continued into the 1950’s. In fact the programme was such a success that it soon was realised that the Rhodesian Air Training Group could become vital to the war effort for training aircraft personnel and although the bulk of the trainees were British, they also received Greeks, Yugoslavs, Australians and South Africans. Ezer Weisman, later to be President of Israel, trained as a pilot in Rhodesia. RAF training units would still be based in this country until a decade after WWII had finished.
The war time Elementary Flying training School (EFTS) gave a recruit 50 hours of basic aviation instruction on a simple trainer, such as the de Havilland Tiger Moth. Pilot cadets who showed promise went onto training at a Service Flying Training School (SFTS) where they were awarded their “wings.” The SFTS provided intermediate and advanced training for pilots, including fighter and twin-engined aircraft, on the North American Harvard and Airspeed Oxford aeroplanes. Other trainees went onto different specialities, such as wireless, navigation, or bombing and air gunnery. The next air station to come into operation was at Guinea Fowl, Gwelo (now Gweru) in twelve weeks from bare veld to the commencement of flying training. Its construction included provision of water supplies, water-borne sewerage and building a rail siding for the special trains bringing aircrew from Cape Town. To relieve congestion at the air stations, six relief landing grounds for landing and take-off instruction were established. Two aircraft and engine repair and overhaul depots were set up and a central maintenance unit to deal with bulk stores of aircraft. In late 1940 it was decided that Cranborne and Thornhill would be used to train single-engined pilots, or fighter-pilots, and Kumalo and Heany air stations would train twin-engined pilots.
At its peak there were about 12,000 adult male white personnel and about 5,000 adult male Africans employed. There were also about 200 white women in the Women's Auxiliary Air Service who were employed in post offices and on clerical duties at various stations. A Rhodesian Air Askari Corps was formed under Wing Commander T. E. Price to provide armed guards and non-armed labour. From the May 1940 until the March 1954 the Royal Air Force (RAF) had a presence in Rhodesia in the form of the RATG which trained aircrew for the RAF, from many different countries, including Great Britain but also from Australia, Canada, South Africa, New Zealand, USA, Yugoslavia, Greece, France, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Kenya, Uganda, Tanganyika, Fiji and Malta as part of the Empire Air Training Scheme. On November 27th, 1947 after the wat the Southern Rhodesian Air Force (SRAF) was re-established as a separate unit and from that date until RATG closed, both the RAF and the SRAF took to the skies above Rhodesia. The beginning of the Cold War brought a renewed need for aircrew training; the RAF re-vitalised the Rhodesian Air Training Group (in May 1948) which continued to grow with the Korean War, although nothing like its WWII level.
Today there are almost no memorials monuments and plaques within Zimbabwe to mark the great efforts and personal sacrifices that were made by African and European servicemen and women and civilians to the Allied cause during the World War. However the Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) does an outstanding job in commemorating those who lost their lives for their country and are buried within Zimbabwe.

biography !!
born to two high schoolers who never married, firoj majidi and parvana banai. they were head over heels for each other - when firoj graduated he took up two jobs alongside community college to support their family, until parvana graduated and took on the arts.
growing up was tough - living in the city wasn’t cheap, parvana’s art rarely sold and the two often went without eating in order to provide for annabel. as a child she’d often wear hand-me-downs from extended family.
was taught to be a hard worker and it was reflected in her schoolwork - anna excelled in all her classes but especially english. her love for writing grew at a young age, and as a child she saved up enough money to buy herself proper journals.
the only thing that she grew more passionate towards than writing was ballet - she caught the image of girls flying through the air and landing on their toes in the window of a dance studio on a walk home from school one day and that was it - something clicked inside of her.
that same day she would spend hours prancing about their tiny apartment, trying to mimic what she’d seen. it was easy to spot the passion anna had for the dance - and within a few months they had saved up enough money for a month’s worth of lessons.
anna was ecstatic - her slippers were old and found in the back of a thrift store by an odd miracle, but she put her all into the lessons regardless. she was quick to pick up on each move, and by the end of the month it was clear that anna had a natural talent.
parvana picked up a job in order for them to keep affording the lessons, month after month - they weighed down on their pockets, but it kept anna happy.
flash forward a few years - life was good. money was still a struggle but they were tight knit.
or rather, anna thought they were tight knit.
firoj and parvana split up when anna was twelve - an event that rocked the young girl’s world, something that she couldn’t understand. they had kept up a front of love when anna was home from school or ballet - but behind doors, they had been growing apart.
anna viewed their separation as parvana running off with another man - an art collector who had a fascination with paravana’s paintings. she viewed this as the end of the world. she viewed this as the death of love.
when anna was twelve, she swore she would never fall in love - refused to believe in its existence. she couldn’t wrap her mind around the simple separation.
her father got a third job in order to keep up with payments, and anna pushed herself in both ballet and school - not being able to handle an empty apartment. she decided to get a job - to help ease her father, but was too young.
so anna decided to do what any average 12 year old would do. she started scamming people.
she’d sell store-bought lemonade as if it were homemade, stole ceramics from art class and sold them to neighbors. she found an old girl scouts uniform in the back of a goodwill and for the next month, she sold knock-off girl scout cookies from the dollar store - going door to door.
her personality had changed drastically - anna went from a sweet, optimistic girl with warm brown eyes and an infectious laugh to cold, calculated, and downright cruel. she knew what she wanted and how to get it.
she got an invitation to a prestigious private school, full scholarship, before she hit high school - originally wanted to reject it as the thought of being surrounded by new york’s richest teens was appalling, but their ballet program was a one-way ticket into the american ballet theatre. anna ultimately accepted the scholarship.
high school was immediately hell for her - pretentious rich kids who all shared a collective brain cell and her secondhand uniform being a prime target for them.
ballet got extremely competitive - anna was a threat to every dancer in their program, bullying and sabotage became standard - but anna retaliated when possible.
this all, however, suddenly stopped when anna picked up her latest scam: faking psychic. through a small network of ‘bees’ she’d pay to gather information (gossip, rumors, etc. etc.) she was able to accurately ~see~ into students’ past, present, and potentially future affairs. the money was very worth it.
from that point forward, people were intimidated by her.
when anna was 16 she was handpicked to join the american ballet theatre’s studio company, alongside 11 other lucky individuals. her dream from that point forward was to become the youngest principal ballerina for abt - and she was going to start by winning over the role of clara in their production of the nutcracker.
she was 17 when she was chosen, much to the dismay of the other girls. she had momentarily quit her ‘psychic’ business in order to dedicate the entirety of her time towards rehearsals & practice.
the final week before her first performance as clara, anna got into a car accident heading home after another tiresome rehearsal. knocked unconscious, anna woke up three days later with no recollection of the accident - and her leg freshly operated on.
it was a devastating event that should had killed her - maybe she would had been better off if it had - but instead, it had effectively destroyed any chances of her dancing professionally.
it took two months of extensive physical therapy for anna to walk again - now relying heavily on a cane.
with ptsd and depression weighing heavily on her shoulders, anna turned back to writing - mostly as a coping mechanism, but it soon became the fierce passion it once was when she was younger.
for the remainder of her high school life, anna dedicated the majority of her time towards recovery, her writing, and directing her school’s theatre productions. oh - and claiming that almost dying had given her the gift of mediumship. it wasn’t too far off from her psychic claims - her peers believed it well enough to either stay away, or pay her for a small amount of comfort.
decided to go to lockwood after graduation in order to stay somewhat close to her father - she’s here on a full scholarship for her dual-major in english & investigative journalim
is in midst of writing her first book, based heavily on her experiences as a scholarship student at a private school, YA fiction, essentially - mostly just to dip her toes in the water and to try and become an established author. if it goes well, it’ll become a series.
the watershed app captured her attention immediately, and she’s been slowly trying to work her way up the tiers of shepherds. finds it completely fascinating, and uses it to help with her psychic business.
still can’t dance any longer, but she works as a ballet assistant for one of the dance instructors.
personality !!
lives in audax, where things break A Lot. she’s usually seen threatening RAs and maintenance men until they fix whatever problems. :^)
that being said - she’s not the friendliest person. knows what she wants and how to get it, and will not hesitate to use people or push them out of her way in order to achieve her goals.
her cutthroat nature was the reason for her success in academics and dance - tends to intimidate the students in the ballet classes she helps out in.
horribly stubborn - if she’s got an idea of you already in her mind, then it’s hard to convince her otherwise.
still uses a cane - in fact, she can’t really walk without it - unless she wants to be in pain.
it’s sturdy, ornate, and pretty fucking solid. doubles as a weapon if need be - has definitely … hit people with it before, though she’s calmed down now that she’s a little older.
used to be very angry, very defensive as a teenager - is still the same, just … less intense. will not hesitate to speak her mind and let her opinions known - especially in the face of injustice.
doesn’t really have the best … relationship with authority, mainly because of where she was raised and her con-artist businesses. tends to be snarky and sarcastic to anybody in charge - or really, anybody in general.
pretty distrusting, pretty emotionless on the outside, doesn’t like to be seen as weak or somebody to be pitied. keeps herself closely guarded and doesn’t really let others ‘inside’ due to her own comfort levels.
she’ll sleep around but dating is out of the question, for the most part - she’s been on a few blind dates, a few casual get-togethers - but she’s always the one to break things off. is more of a careful hook-up kind of gal.
still does her psychic medium business !! sometimes she wonders if she’s a bad person because of it - but ultimately, it’s on her customers for believing in all that nonsense anyway. anna herself is a skeptic - doesn’t believe in anything unless she can see it and feel it.
is actually … a pretty sentimental person, doesn’t take anything she’s got for granted, and is hugely appreciative of her father. sends him money when she can. hasn’t spoken to her mother in years - pretty sure she’s got a step / half-sibling or two but she’s never met them.
a lone wolf and likes it that way, but she isn’t super opposed to friendship - even if she won’t necessarily call anybody a friend. appreciates others who are similar to her - got their head on right, and knows what they want in life.
has a pretty bad fear of driving - will uber if she needs to go anywhere - even then, being in cars makes her pretty anxious. still has ptsd-induced panic attacks, though she’s managed them pretty well.
doesn’t really do drugs! will smoke weed to ease the ache and her nerves, but otherwise she only takes what is prescribed for her. doesn’t drink anything hard, either. big fan of beer and wine. probably gets wine drunk home alone late at night … like … two times a week.
goes between being high strung and uncaring - she’s not especially moody ( rather, is just consistently angry for whatever reasons ) but she definitely tries to bottle everything up.
probably keeps pepper spray on her at all times, even though she’s got her cane. has a gun hidden in her dorm, cat ear brass knuckles on her keychain. she’s not paranoid, she just likes being prepared.
kind of wants to write a novel based off of watershed so! she takes a lot of notes - tends to be very observant.
has a soft spot for children, animals, and soft women. kind of person who will put herself in the line of danger in order to protect others - even if she doesn’t necessarily know them too well.
also the kind of person who’ll set something on fire - or do something because you’ve told her not to. incredibly spiteful when wronged. will raise hell if need be.
morally ambiguous tbh.
connections to the victims !!
tatiana samuels / mutually disliked each other and they’d avoid one another if possible. nobody is quite sure of why - some say it’s because tatiana was skeptical of anna’s psychic business, others say it’s because tatiana had gotten a bad fortune predicting her death.
george craig iii / once a friend of anna’s due to their similar personalities - their friendship was ended because of tatiana. once again - it isn’t quite known why, but it’s been hinted that tatiana had made george choose between her friendship & anna’s. tatiana had been the obvious choice, and that was that.
hana williams / a friend & a client, anna would regularly do tarot readings for hana. after tatiana, anna had tried to keep her readings positive.
christoph wainwright / enemies due to christoph pushing her buttons and generally just rubbing her the wrong way, her own suspicions leading to a natural defense against him, which he reflected.
wanted connections !!
maybe … a roommate?
acquaintances. people who’ve seen her around campus and are curious. people who’ve seen her like … kick someone’s tire in a small fit of rage or spend 20 minutes trying to coax a cat into coming near her so she could pet it.
someone from new york who recognizes her from whatever !! whether it’s from newspaper details of her incident, her legacy at her private school, her legacy as a ballerina before her incident, etc. etc.
has taken up boxing recently - so somebody whose helping her at the gym?
someone who tried to like. help her cross the road or something because they saw her with her cane and she yelled at them so now they’re in this weird spot.
dance students !! if somebody does ballet - she might be helping them.
someone she’s soft for for whatever reason :/
hookups !! of any sort !! the kind where you never talk outside of it, or a hate-fuck scenario … anything !!
customers who come to her for psychic readings and like. comfort in the form of talking to the dead.
people skeptical of her !! maybe trying to ruin her in some way.
other shepherds. someone higher up that she’s trying to manipulate in some way for her own benefits.
a drunk one night stand that neither wants to talk about.
a pregnancy scare with another, separate one night stand! it turned out to be nothing, but there was some. weirdness. between them afterwards.
a blind date or two dnfjgkmh
someone she ghosted :/
ok ok ok so … back when anna was an older muse, she was fresh out of a broken off engagement b/c her husband-to-be cheated on her … so i kinda want … smth similar to happen to her again ? y’know. make her fall in love. break her heart. ruin her again. it’d b fun ! angst is fun !
someone she’s like, protected from a creep at a bar or a club ! and now they feel indebted towards her and she’s just like uuuh no. stop.
annoyances !!
like … maybe a pal or two, or three. mainly just people she gets along with !!
on the other end - something where they just. despise each other for whatever reason. pure hatred.
hatred but make it sexy.
a dealer because even though she can get medical marijuana … it’s good to have a lil extra on ya :)
people She’s suspicious of for whatever reason - someone she caught doing something. suspicious. untrustworthy.
someone where their mail keeps getting mixed up.
uuh really im down for anything !!
#wshintro#car accident tw#injury tw#death mention#grief mention#being poor :/ tw :/#thts a joke im also very poor

First Audax of the Year

Finally, the weather has cooled down a bit, so it was time for some riding - very long riding. I rarely write about Audax rides, the last post was the Deliverance Ride back in 2000! It is probably because I rarely take many photos while riding them, I'm too busy peddling! This ride was particularly nice so I think it is time to write something. For those who don't know them, Audax is an international organisation originally from France, traditionally it is either 100,200,300,400 or 600km Randonnée rides needing to be completed within a time based on 15 km/hr average speed (or 11.5km/hr for 600 or more) with a maximum allowed of 30km/hr; these aren't like races, you are unsupported. If you are really keen there is also Paris - Brest - Paris, 1200km. Now, there are also a series of gravel distances, shorter distances and different speeds. All of them are sitting in the saddle for a long time, a good excuse to eat a lot and, when you're speed happens to be the same as someone else, great conversations. Today's weather was fantastic, Brisbane is semi-tropical, which means we normally have hottish, wet summers and dry winters. We have been in a La Niña state for the last 3 years keeping temperatures beautifully low, but it has sadly ended. Three weeks ago this ride would have been 40C (104F), not so perfect, today was 25C, couldn't ask for better. Today's group was quite small, only 8 people spread between 100, 200, 300 and 400 km distances, there is a 1200km next weekend so people are saving their legs. I think the others are missing out! We left Brisbane and headed West through the Scenic Rim and Lockyer Valley. While Brisbane is relatively flat just west gets very hilly, very quickly. Part of this Great Dividing Range is a section called the Main Range, which is part of an ancient volcano, the horizon is an elevated ridge line of connected mountains. Of course, we don't really have mountains in Australia, these are between one and two thousand meters - but we call them mountains! Even if low they make for gorgeous scenery as we rode through the valley below, Lockyer Valley. Beautiful Lockyer Valley, Surrounded by the Scenic Rim This range is also a great 4 or 5-day hike, the Scenic Rim Trail, you start at one end or the other and walk over everything you can see until you reach the other end. This hike from a couple of years ago is one end, Lizard Point. The first 50km or so was easy riding, mostly with other people, then in a section by myself, I dropped the chain and it got badly caught up in the front chain ring. So badly that I had to break the chain, I had a quick link, but only one, just had to hope nothing happened for the rest of the trip! Various others rode along while I was there and offered assistance, including one policeman checking I was OK. Good to know. After about 15 minutes of fluffing around the chain was back on and it was to the first control. At 75km my tummy was definitely rumbling and crying out for the Yamato MacDonalds! The only time I eat MacDonalds is on these rides, hard to beat their calorific load! Back on the road for a pleasant for 30 or 40km chatting with Paul, one of the 300km riders, until the routes split. The rest of the ride was going to be solo. The next control was at Rosewood, but I stopped on the way at a small town, Harrisville, I really like the bakery. Harrisville Bakery Just outside Harrisville I started passing fields of Sunflowers, it is a little later now, about a month earlier these would have been stunning. Off to Rosewood, a ham and salad roll, then back on the bike for the last push home. Images I had minor surgery about 2 months ago and this has kept me from doing anything more than 50ish km at a time. The last 50km of the ride was hard, normally I have no issues with 200. Turns out, training is useful! One of my favourite areas to road cycle in SE Queensland. On Strava Read the full article

Absence The Trail has been closed a bit Now open in its entirety I was hankering for Coominya to Esk That section called to me. I appreciated the work apparent It always amazes this bard The way Transport and Main Roads Just seem to work so hard. They had tidied up some erosion And added some clever drains Making the surface good for now And ready for when it rains. Some bits were a little sloppy But there weren’t many there All could be easily negotiated With some diligence and some care. Many sections were hard and fast The kilometres seemed to unravel My soul was topped up as I went As my tyres crunched along the gravel. Esk Bakery and Cafe Then in my vicinity neared I sat down with a fantastic burger Which strangely disappeared. I loved every minute of this mischief My connection to the Trail stronger It’s true what they often say Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Moreover, volatility in raw material prices results in constant pressure on the profitability margins of foodservice disposable manufacturers is also anticipated to restrict the market growth of foodservice disposable.

Cutlerease is a new single-piece cutlery utensil dispensing system. Increasing launch of such novel and sustainable packaging solutions will propel the market growth of foodservice disposable.

Another night pedalling in paradise; 50 dark, wet and windy miles though thankfully with a tailwind much of the way. With a stop for a cup of tea and a puncture to deal with it was a long evening - four hours in total.

This is the second ride so far this week, Monday’s one was much more pleasant with another glorious sunset over the Towy estuary.

The puncture last night was annoying and unnecessary, caused by the need for emergency braking a few minutes before; cycling damply along a shared cycle / pedestrian path in the pitch dark, me lit up like a Christmas tree with lights and reflectors and some guy wearing all black, with a black dog is walking down the middle of the path and is then surprised when I nearly take him and his dog out!
There are a couple of sections on my circuit that are shared with pedestrians and I always make sure I ride at a considerate speed and give plenty of warning of my approach, usually by hollering “Good Morning”, “Good evening” etc and mostly people are equally considerate. Occasionally there is the odd moron.
The situation is not made easier by my current lighting setup which is best described as ‘adequate’. I have an old but serviceable Cateye Opticube battery light on the front. It has been okay but I think it is time for an upgrade and as a part of my audax bike project I’m looking at a new wheelset which includes a Son 28 hub dynamo on the front along with some good dynamo lights. Definitely not a cheap solution but one I think is worth it for not having to deal with flat batteries and recharging lights after every ride along with a much better light output always available.
With much of my route on out of the way cycle paths one thing I do have plenty of out on these rides is silence and that was the topic of the book by Norwegian explorer and entrepreneur Erling Kagge read on radio 4 last week:

Extra info!
Kimbob (a.k.a.Kim): I see you have discovered the innermost section of the animus databanks! You may be (un)surprised but this is where all the memories of your ancestors are stored. Usually that is. We did come across a little bitch of a glitch...which I somewhat intentionally planted into the animus, which allows you to see the world with your own OCs and characters from Final Fantasy XV - because crossovers with these two will be mighty fun right? So here are my OCs that will be featured for my part of the project:
ASSASSIN’S CREED:
Mira (AC1/AC:R) - name means ‘obstinacy, rebelliousness’ or ‘their rebellion.’)
Alessandra Nolanni de Roma (Ezio bunch - name means ‘defender of man’)
Anora Kenway (AC3 - name means ‘honour’)
FFXV (so many NPCS....)
Airlea Sicairus (name means ‘etheral assassin’)
Velox Sicarius (name means ‘quick assassin’)
Audax Sicarius (name means ‘curageous assassin’)
Letalis Sicasrius (name means ‘deadly assassin’)
Audacia Sicarius (name means ‘righteous assassin’)
Crudelis Sicarius (name means ‘cruel/horrid/evil assassin’)
K: During the course of the event, OCs are merely optional objectives and do not have to be added. However, they can add in more fun. The most important part is the main objective which is simply adding in AC character(s) ad FFXV character(s) into the same scene. If you’re writing a fic, it can be your OCS or xreaders. That’s if you want to add in another person. Again, optional.
K: You will have a set of DNA Sequences to complete and each one has episodes. Remember, your job is to enjoy this moment whilst it lasts.
K: So go out and have fun in these sequences and episodes, which can be completed any time you like. And I can add in extra if you so desire. Take care!

In Coominya we came back together All keen for a rest stop And something cold and fizzy From the local shop. On towards Fernvale we pedalled The Trail smooth and sleek Crossing the marvellous rebuilt bridge Over the Lockyer Creek. The flies from the feedlot circled We pushed them all away Past the fence of a million bikes And fields fresh with hay. Then though Lowood we rumbled Fernvale 8km away This section is one of the smoothest That we saw today. There we stayed for a bit The end was now in sight With 24km to the end Make it? We just might! We whipped over loamy sections Across single track we flew Past the beautiful pools and ponds Nestled in Fairney View. We crossed the Valley Highway And crossings of dry creeks Emboldened by the thought of beer As from the clouds the sun peeked. With 5km before the end We hit the Brassall Bikeway This smooth, concrete section Was a soothing end to this day. We soon met the vehicles And whatever our days looked like We were united by time together Sharing our love of riding bikes. I’ll dream of this marvellous day Of time with enriching mates When this ride’s offered again I will not hesitate. Thanks, Ride Sunshine Coast You’re champions, so it seems For helping our hearts and minds Achieve such big hopes and dreams. Images remain the property of the participants.
