#separate feeders for multiple cats

This multi cat feeder is SO HELPFUL! We adopted a kitten with gastrointestinal issues who required a special food, but our greedy older cat wouldn't stop eating it. Everyone knows kitten food is more calorie dense, so I was getting worried about our kitten starving because our older cat is eating her food, and then worried about our older cat getting ginormous. I bought these feeders on Amazon and it comes with a set of two. The little pad you see my cat standing on is an RFID sensor that connects to a little charm on his collar. The feeder only opens and works for the cat collar it's connected to, so the cats can only open their own respective feeders. But that's not to say they don't try! They definitely just sit and stare at them hoping it'll finally open. Definitely recommend for cat households where food is stolen

Welcome to... The Circus!
Or, TNESOSSASSC, If you wanna be speffic with it
The circus is a fandom my friend Vanny owns! However it wasn't his at the start! The farthest date back we know of the existence is 2002! Yes, 2002! Vanny was passed down the circus in 2015! Just at 5 at the time.
This is a horror circus, With 450+ members, And a game in the future! Though we are waiting for the fandom to grow larger for the game to be worked on again.
The Circus is based off many books, And has multiple connections to different fandoms! Diane said: "It's like a mix of the circus book, And the ghost busters, Mixed with the tree house chapter books if you ever read those. And a mix of the goosebumps stories"
I'm one of the members! Glitchtrap! Or Iolanthe, But no one really knows my name. When I first heard of the circus I didn't know exactly what it was, And sibce me and Vanny were... Well, Glitchtrap and Vanny, I just decided "What if I just make GT a magician?" ... Well, Now I am trying to separate them a bit more!
There is a ranking system in the circus, With certain roles on each! My list may not be the most accurate, As I am only going off the knowledge of all I have, But here it is!
RANKING SYSTEM
〃✦ ┆TOIC┆ ✦〃: Owner, Co-owner, CEO+Founder
〃✦ ┆Ultimate rank┆ ✦〃: Clown Pierce, Krillite, Flamefrage, Highrank handlers
〃✦ ┆Highrank┆ ✦〃: Court, Co-hosts, Ringleaders, Reptile/aquarium masters, Circus cats, Epo, Winnie, Ares, Kandi, Rose, Agents

RANKING SYATEM
I am a highrank myself! So I have some sense of control over things. Also something that comes with highranks: Are the ability to create teams!
Teams are created by highranks to gain support and followers throughout the circus! And at the end of the year we can get to vote who had the best team. If a Highrank or one of the very first circus members wants to join a team, They need to fill out a form
My team is called The Hopplings! I've made a badge for it too!
And, Speaking of badges, IRL circus members can make them for their teams along with name tags and wear them when they go put! To cons in such, Some are able to cosplay their characters! And it's like a way to find fellow members!
Also, Handlers that are mentioned in the Extreme Rank, Every highrank has one! They basically, At least how I take it, Make sure things are set straight and running smoothly! I guess you could call it a leader? And Händlers also have cults. Some good, Some bad. It's a horror circus afterall! You expect them to be all sunshine and rainbows? My handler is my mom!
And... I can keep going on but at the moment I'm not sure— Oh! Lore! It's this whole thing, And every circus member has their own little "journal" with chapters! But it's still like... All together? Our lore writter is Diane :3
Also another thing I can say: There are emoji combos and abbreviations! What are these? Things to be aware of! Like trigger warnings! For exmaple mine are the ones in my bio! Aka: 💭🕸️+❤️💘,+🌺🍃 :3 The first ones mean "Do not fight with/mention fighting", The second means "Love me love me", And the 3rd means "Regressor" :3 There are a ton more– But that's just an example :D
I'm also in more teams: Razzlings(The Owner's team, Aka Vanny who goes by Razmataz in the circus), Kits(This is for a passed circus member named Cathabell), Sweeties(This was my old handler's team–), And Orbits!(Current handler's team)
woahh :0
that’s a lot of lore-
wait 450+ people?!
that’s really coool :o

Oooo interesting….

A Helping Paw - Innovations Making Life Better for Our Beloved Pets
Our furry, feathered, and scaled companions bring us immeasurable joy. They offer unwavering loyalty, endless entertainment, and a comforting presence that enriches our days. As devoted pet owners, we strive to ensure their health, happiness, and well-being. Fortunately, the world of technology and innovation is increasingly focusing on creating devices and tools specifically designed to enhance the lives of our beloved animals. From monitoring their vital signs to keeping them entertained while we're away, these inventions are revolutionizing pet care and strengthening our bond with non-human family members. Dr. Blair Smith, DVM & Medical Director, emphasizes the profound impact of these advancements, stating, "The integration of technology into pet care allows us to be more proactive and responsive to our animals' needs, ultimately leading to healthier and happier lives for them."
Smart Collars: More Than Just Identification
The traditional pet collar has undergone a significant transformation with the advent of innovative technology. Today's smart collars have a range of features that go far beyond simple identification tags. GPS tracking capabilities offer peace of mind by allowing owners to monitor their pet's location in real-time, which is crucial for preventing loss and ensuring a swift reunion if they wander off. Activity trackers in these collars monitor a pet's daily movement, sleep patterns, and calorie expenditure. This data can be invaluable for understanding their activity levels, identifying potential health issues early on, and tailoring exercise and diet plans accordingly. Some advanced smart collars even incorporate sensors to monitor vital signs like heart rate and respiratory rate, providing early warnings of potential medical concerns and prompting timely consultations with vets near me and same-day appointments if necessary. Dr. Smith notes, "The real-time health data provided by some smart collars can be instrumental in detecting subtle changes that might otherwise go unnoticed, allowing for earlier intervention."
Automated Feeders and Water Fountains: Convenience and Health
Ensuring our pets consistently receive the right amount of food and fresh water can be challenging, especially with busy schedules. Automated feeders dispense pre-portioned meals at programmed intervals, helping to regulate a pet's eating habits and prevent overfeeding or missed meals. This is particularly beneficial for pets with specific dietary needs or those requiring multiple small meals throughout the day. Similarly, automated water fountains provide a continuous supply of fresh, filtered water, encouraging pets to stay hydrated, which is vital for their overall health, particularly for cats prone to dehydration. The circulating water often entices pets to drink more, reducing the risk of urinary tract issues. Dr. Smith highlights the importance of consistent hydration, adding, "Automated water fountains are a simple yet effective way to encourage better water intake, which is crucial for kidney health and overall well-being."
Interactive Toys and Companionship Devices: Combating Boredom
Like humans, pets can experience boredom and loneliness, especially when left alone for extended periods. Innovative interactive toys are designed to stimulate their minds and bodies, providing entertainment and preventing destructive behaviors. These toys can range from automated laser pointers and treat-dispensing puzzles to robotic companions that move and interact with pets. Some devices even allow owners to remotely interact with their pets through video and audio, offering a sense of connection and alleviating separation anxiety. These inventions can significantly improve a pet's mental well-being and reduce stress. "Mental stimulation is just as important as physical exercise for our pets," explains Dr. Smith. "Interactive toys help keep their minds engaged and prevent the development of behavioral issues related to boredom."
Health Monitoring and Diagnostic Tools: Proactive Care
The ability to monitor a pet's health proactively is a significant advancement in pet care. Beyond smart collars, other innovative tools are emerging to aid in early detection and management of health issues. Wearable sensors can track subtle changes in gait or behavior that might indicate pain or discomfort. Home-based diagnostic kits allow owners to collect samples for preliminary testing, providing valuable information that can be shared with their veterinarian. Telemedicine platforms are also becoming increasingly popular, enabling virtual consultations with vets and facilitating convenient follow-up care. For urgent situations, knowing where to find vets near me same day appointment remains crucial, but these technological advancements can help prevent some emergencies from arising in the first place. Dr. Smith emphasizes the collaborative potential of these tools, stating, "These technologies empower pet owners to be more involved in their pet's health monitoring, providing valuable insights that can help us, as veterinarians, make more informed decisions."
Assistive Devices for Pets with Special Needs: Enhancing Quality of Life
For pets with disabilities or age-related limitations, innovative assistive devices can significantly improve their quality of life. These include custom-made wheelchairs that provide mobility for pets with hind limb weakness, ramps and stairs that make it easier to access different home areas, and orthotic supports that aid in comfort and stability. These inventions empower pets with special needs to live more fulfilling and independent lives, allowing them to continue enjoying activities they love. "Seeing the impact of assistive devices on pets with mobility challenges is truly rewarding," says Dr. Smith. "These innovations can give them a sense of freedom and joy."
In conclusion, the growing field of pet-focused inventions is transforming how we care for our animal companions. These innovations offer numerous benefits for pets and their owners, from smart collars that monitor their health and location to interactive toys that keep them mentally stimulated. As Dr. Blair Smith, DVM & Medical Director, thoughtfully points out, "Ultimately, these advancements are about enhancing the quality of life for our beloved animals, allowing us to understand their needs better and provide them with the best possible care." By embracing these technological tools with a focus on our pets' individual needs and always in collaboration with our veterinary professionals, we can ensure they live healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives by our sides.

Are Pet Automatic Feeders Worth It? Pros and Cons
Automatic pet feeders have gained popularity in recent years, making it easier for pet owners to manage their furry friends’ feeding schedules. But are pet automatic feeders worth the investment? This article explores the benefits and potential drawbacks of using an automatic feeder for your pet, helping you make an informed decision on whether this technology suits your lifestyle and your pet’s needs.
Automatic feeders can be a game-changer for busy pet owners, providing convenience and control. From customizable portions to scheduled feeding, the right animal automatic feeder can help ensure your pet receives consistent nutrition, even in your absence. However, like any tool, they come with their own set of pros and cons. Let’s dive into what you should know about automatic feeders, and whether they’re right for you and your pet.
1. Understanding Pet Automatic Feeders
An automatic pet feeder is a device that dispenses pre-measured amounts of food at scheduled intervals. These feeders come in a variety of models, from simple gravity-based dispensers to sophisticated, programmable devices with portion control and WiFi connectivity. Pet feeders are available for various types of food, including dry kibble, wet food, and even treats, making them versatile enough to fit the needs of dogs, cats, and even smaller animals.
Most feeders also work well with pet feeding mats, which can help contain food spills and keep feeding areas clean. Some models even allow pet owners to monitor and adjust feeding times remotely through a smartphone app, adding an extra layer of convenience.
2. Types of Automatic Pet Feeders
There are several types of automatic feeders to consider, each with its own features and functions. Common types include:
Gravity Feeders: These are non-automated and use gravity to dispense food as your pet eats, refilling the bowl until it’s empty.
Programmable Feeders: These feeders can be set to dispense food at specific times and amounts, allowing for greater control over feeding schedules.
WiFi-Connected Feeders: These feeders allow for remote access and control via smartphone apps, offering flexibility for owners who are often away from home.
Wet Food Feeders: Designed specifically for wet food, these feeders often have refrigeration features to keep food fresh between feedings.
Each type offers unique benefits depending on your lifestyle and your pet’s specific needs.
3. The Pros of Using a Pet Automatic Feeder
Convenience for Busy Lifestyles
One of the biggest advantages of a pet automatic feeder is convenience. If you have a busy schedule, an automatic feeder ensures that your pet’s meals are delivered on time, even if you’re running late or unable to be home.
Portion Control for Healthy Weight Management
With portion-controlled feeders, pet owners can manage how much food their pet consumes, which is particularly beneficial for animals that tend to overeat. Controlled portions can help prevent obesity and keep your pet in optimal health.
Consistent Meal Times for Routine
Pets thrive on routine, and an automatic feeder ensures they receive their meals at the same times every day. This regularity can reduce anxiety in pets, particularly for cats, who may become stressed by irregular feeding times.
Reduced Stress for Pet Owners
With an automatic feeder, you don’t need to worry about rushing home to feed your pet. This can provide peace of mind, especially for pet owners who work long hours or have unpredictable schedules.
Helpful for Multi-Pet Households
For those with multiple pets, a programmable animal automatic feeder can help prevent food competition by separating feeding times and portions. Some advanced feeders even come with features that allow you to designate specific feeders for specific pets.
4. The Cons of Using a Pet Automatic Feeder
Potential Malfunctions
Automatic feeders are electronic devices, and as with any technology, they can sometimes malfunction. If a feeder fails to dispense food, your pet may miss a meal, which could be distressing if you’re away for an extended period.
Dependency on Battery or Power
Most automatic feeders require batteries or a power source. In the event of a power outage or dead batteries, your pet might not get fed until the problem is resolved.
Limited Interaction with Your Pet
Pets, particularly dogs, benefit from interaction during feeding times. An automatic feeder removes the opportunity for bonding and can make your pet feel less engaged. It’s important to balance the use of automatic feeders with quality time and interaction.
Expensive Models
While there are budget-friendly options, some high-tech automatic feeders can be quite costly. Depending on the features, the price can range significantly, so it’s essential to assess whether the convenience justifies the expense.
5. How to Choose the Right Automatic Feeder for Your Pet
Selecting the right automatic feeder depends on your pet’s needs and your lifestyle. Here are some factors to consider:
Size and Portion Control: Choose a feeder with adjustable portion sizes if your pet has specific dietary requirements.
Food Type Compatibility: Make sure the feeder is compatible with the type of food your pet eats, whether it’s dry or wet.
Programming Options: If you need flexibility, look for a feeder with multiple programming options.
Connectivity: WiFi-enabled feeders are useful for pet owners who want remote control, but they may come at a higher price.
6. Can Automatic Feeders Replace Regular Mealtime?
While automatic feeders provide consistency, they shouldn’t replace all interaction at mealtime. Mealtime can be an excellent opportunity for bonding, training, and reinforcing positive behavior. Balance the convenience of an automatic feeder with some interactive feeding or playtime when possible.
7. How to Keep the Feeding Area Clean with a Pet Feeding Mat
Automatic feeders can be paired with a pet feeding mat to keep the area tidy. A feeding mat catches spills and crumbs, making it easier to clean up after meals. This is especially beneficial if your pet tends to spill food outside the bowl. Feeding mats are generally waterproof and easy to clean, providing a sanitary area for feeding.
8. Automatic Feeders for Animals Beyond Cats and Dogs
Automatic feeders aren’t limited to cats and dogs; they’re also suitable for small animals, fish, and even birds. Animal automatic feeders are designed to accommodate various feeding requirements and can be programmed to suit different species, making them a versatile option for pet owners with a variety of animals.
9. Are Automatic Feeders Safe for Pets?
Automatic feeders are generally safe when used correctly. It’s important to monitor the device periodically to ensure it’s functioning as expected and to prevent any issues. High-quality feeders come with built-in safety features, like portion control and tamper-resistant designs, to keep pets safe and prevent them from accessing food outside of designated meal times.
10. Maintenance and Care for Automatic Feeders
To keep an automatic feeder functioning optimally, regular maintenance is necessary. Clean the food compartments and bowls frequently to prevent bacteria buildup. Check batteries or power connections regularly to ensure there’s no interruption in feeding. Many feeders have dishwasher-safe components, making it easy to maintain cleanliness.
Conclusion: Are Pet Automatic Feeders Worth It?
In conclusion, pet automatic feeders can be incredibly beneficial for pet owners with busy lifestyles or multiple pets. They offer convenience, portion control, and consistent feeding schedules that contribute to your pet’s well-being. However, they aren’t a substitute for personal interaction and come with a few potential drawbacks, such as cost and dependency on batteries or power.

Strategies for Feeding Multiple Cats at Home Effortlessly
Feeding multiple cats in harmony can be a challenging task for pet owners. Each cat has its own dietary needs, preferences, and sometimes, attitudes toward food can lead to tension at mealtime. But fear not! With the right strategies, you can make feeding time a stress-free experience for both you and your feline friends. 🐾✨
Effective Strategies for Feeding Multiple Cats
Here are six expert-recommended tips to help you create a peaceful feeding environment for your cats:
1. Feed in Separate Rooms 🏠
If possible, designate different rooms for each cat during mealtime. This allows them to eat without the worry of sharing (or stealing) food. Cats with different eating habits or special dietary needs particularly benefit from having their own space.
2. Divide a Single Room 🚪
Limited space? No problem! Use dividers to create separate feeding stations within a single room. This way, each cat has their own area to enjoy a meal without interference from siblings.
3. Temporary Crates or Enclosures 🚪
Using cat carriers or enclosures can provide a safe eating space for your kitties. Make sure they feel comfortable in these areas, perhaps by adding a favorite blanket or toy, to reduce any anxiety during feeding time.
4. Vary Mealtime Schedules ⏰
If your cats can’t eat peacefully in the same space, consider feeding them at different times. This ensures that each cat gets its fair share without worrying about food theft.
5. Feed at Different Heights 📏
For cats with different dietary needs, feeding them at different heights can prevent food sharing. Position bowls in elevated spaces for healthier cats, while keeping others on the ground. This helps manage weight and ensure each cat has access to its designated food.
6. Consider a Microchip Cat Feeder 🐱💡
Investing in a microchip-powered feeder can be a game-changer if you have two cats that require different diets. These feeders only open for the cat whose chip is recognized, preventing food theft and ensuring each cat eats its own food.
Additional Tips for Success
Establish a Feeding Schedule: Set specific times for meals to avoid grazing, which can lead to conflict.
Identical Bowls: Use the same style of bowls for all cats to prevent bowl envy and curiosity.
Location Matters: Ensure bowls are far enough from walls to avoid making your cats feel cornered while they eat.
Time Limits: Implement a maximum eating time and remove bowls afterward to encourage quicker eating.
With the right practices in place, feeding multiple cats can be a manageable task. By creating tailored feeding areas and sticking to a consistent routine, you'll not only streamline mealtime but also make it a more enjoyable experience for your kitties! 🐾💕

---
Settling into class was the usual. Your friends and you were separated early on in the semester, your teacher clearly thinking you the problem group. It wasn’t that you didn’t do any work, you just talked a lot and that wasn’t a crime. Sometimes, you just really had something to say. Other times, gossip overtook your ears and mouths. Though, you supposed that was also something to say, even if it’s not very constructive.
Still, nothing had changed. Your uniform was pressed new, hoodie overtaking your arms and waist. Now that school had begun bleeding into the colder months, you’d taken to the thick material and used it as a way to shield yourself from everyone around you. On days like today, you rather be left alone with your headphones in and class never starting.
It sure did seem like the world was working against you when your teacher, Mrs. Kwon, strode into class, someone on her heels.
With her presence, it was hard for people not to quiet down when she walked into a room. There was something hardened about her, though it wasn’t mean or unfriendly. You wouldn’t want to start a fight with her, stocky build and witty tongue to match no fair opponent for anyone; but that didn’t mean unfriendly. Sometimes, you would find yourself lingering after class just to chat with her about dumb things, glad she didn’t dislike you.
She gave the room a look over and then proceeded to point to the empty desk beside you. “That’s your assigned seat, Mr. Heo. I trust it’s to your liking.”
You gave the boy next to her a long hard stare. It didn’t matter that you were staring much, he was coming to sit in your empty desk- the one reserved for anyone but a real person- and everyone knew how you felt about that. Slowly, you shifted your books and large binder back over to your own desk, unhappy with the task but happy to see a new face.
At least one that was as pretty as his.
Mrs. Kwon made her little comment about the seat being to his liking and, instead of some sort of reply back, the boy gave a small smile and nodded. His eyes were small and shaped like thin almonds, with a long nose between them. A small shadow cupped his bottom eyelashes, as if fatigue was something that permanently plagued him but he worked it. You, for one, loved it. There was something about racoon eyes that made you feel like there was more to someone’s story. His face was small, something you knew people seemed to like, with soft cheekbones.
Cat, you decided, giving yourself a nod as he slid into the seat beside you. It was a habit of yours to assign animals to people. Your best friend was a penguin and the other resembled an owl and the other a turtle. From the way the boy beside you smiled though, you could definitely see cat. There was no mistaking it.
As he sat, he gave you a small smile and a nod. You supposed you didn’t look all too inviting, with your hood still on and a line across your lips. Without knowing it, you pressed a little grin back and faced the front. He was beautiful, yes. Slender and tall, with proportions for the gods, but now wasn’t the time to assess him. You were in class and had some English to learn.
----
Mrs. Kwon spoke briefly before break started, giving announcements about in class president elections and a few other things. The boy, who’s name was Hyunjoon, seemed to be very attentive at first but then, slowly, his energy dropped. He was awake, yes, but present in the room? You doubted it.
The moment Mrs. Kwon slipped away, you found yourself turning to him.
“Hi.” Embarrassingly enough, it was the only opener you could think of. Trying to save yourself from the look on his face, you extended your hand and said, “I’m y/n.”
Politely, Hyunjoon took your hand and shook it once, his grip soft. “Hyunjoon.”
“Is this your first day here? Or did you just transfer from another class?” The answer to the question was one you already knew but you wanted to make him comfortable. Sure, beginner questions weren’t always the best but you supposed they might help break the ice bit by bit.
“No, I’m a new student,” he murmured, voice low but not meek, “I moved here about a week ago so after getting settled, I started going to school again.”
Funny how a pretty boy could make your mood start to slip away.
“Oh,” you perked up, hoodie slipping a bit from your head as you propped your elbows up on the desk, palms facing up so you could rest your chin in the cradle they made. “Where’d you move from? I was also a transfer student way back when.”
“South Hamlet. My feeder school was LPS Academy, if you know it?”
You blinked a bit before smiling. “Y-yeah, I do. That was also mine, I used to live there.”
This made Hyunjoon perk up. Instantly, he became more open, glad to meet someone who knew where that was. You couldn’t lie, you wished you knew someone who knew of your hometown as well. It was far and completely different to everywhere else. Each Friday, there were mini festivals depending on the season. Summer and fall always had farmer’s markets and street food, whereas spring had your annual lantern lighting. Winter was your favourite though. Your hometown was in a little pocket where very little snow fell but, when it did, it felt like a wonderland. Plus, winter held your best memory. Thinking about it now, compared to where you currently lived, a pang in your heart came along. You never realized how much you missed it there.
“We still do that,” he mused, sighing a bit as you mentioned the fireworks that are set off every independence day, “recently though, they aimed one of the fireworks wrong and it shot into Oaky and almost cracked one of its branches off.”
The tension that was previously in his shoulders seemed to melt away as he turned more to face you. Seeing him so open like this, glimmer in his previously guarded eyes, you found yourself feeling much better. Familiarity was your favourite feeling and, somehow, he felt like home. He held South Hamlet in his soul and carried it around with him.
You snickered, shaking your head. “Oaky is so old, I don’t know how they didn’t do that before.”
Joon opened his mouth to say more but the bell took the sound away. Seemingly disappointed at the next teacher waltzing in, Mr. Burns looking especially cross today, Hyunjoon settled back into his seat and faced forward. Despite yourself, you leaned towards him and whispered, “let’s have lunch together, yeah? I want to know more about how home’s doing.”
The smile he gave you then was genuine, short nod the only confirmation you needed.
---
You showed him the ropes of the cafeteria, telling him which ones would give more food if you asked politely. Making sure to acquaint him with Jisoo and the rest of your friend group, you sat across from each other and began your little conversation.
“You know so many people here,” he mentioned lightly, looking around as he took his seat.
A shrug fell from your shoulders, hands tugging at the sleeves of your hoodie to pull them forwards. “I’ve been here since grade nine so it came naturally, I guess. But I get what it feels like to be you, I was new to my elementary school.”
He looked a bit shy, giving a nod. “There was also a new kid in my school but we ended up being close friends. His name is Bomin, maybe you know about him?”
Feeling a bit disappointed in not knowing every kid from your town, you shook your head. The hopefulness in Hyunjoon’s eyes faded a bit but none of the happiness did. Secretly, you wished he felt just as comfortable with you as you did him. He seemed eager to open up though and you continued to press about multiple things, wondering how everything was doing. You hadn’t been to visit family in such a long time that updates felt necessary- or maybe you just wanted to hear him talk more.
“My favourite is also the winter festival,” he said, looking extraordinarily excited. “Not a lot of people really love it but I always remember it the most.”
This piqued your interest, leaning forwards on your arm as you listened to him speak when asking why. It seemed second nature to forget your surroundings when you spoke to him, everything else consumed by the thin framed boy and the way his eyes disappeared when he giggled.
“It’s going to sound dumb since it happened a really long time ago but both elementary schools had this field trip on Friday to the centre square and we were meant to explore. All the kids had decided on doing this snowball fight and it was fun at first.” He trailed off here, giving pause. It was enough for you to start losing his smile, wondering if- could he be-?
Jisoo and Hana sat on either side of you in bed, your sleepover going well. In your hand, you held the little green hat and smiled, finishing your story lightly. “He led me home. He didn’t have to but he did.”
“Would be kinda romantic if you met each other years later, don’t you think?” Hana crooned, getting a far-off and misty look in her eyes. You smiled lightly, not wanting to meet her eyes as you ran your thumb across the rim of the hat.
“I doubt that’ll happen,” you decided, not wanting to get your hopes up. You didn’t want to seem overly enthusiastic about it. “I don’t live there anymore and people hardly move.”
“You did,” Jisoo pointed out, arching up her eyebrows. All you gave her in return was a smile before you got up and softly placed the hat back on your desk.
Hyunjoon’s voice ripped you from your memory, story continuing lightly. “All the boys kind of ganged up on this one group of friends and all of them scattered except one. They just stopped and tried to hide their face from the snowballs until they decided to run and they just kept running.
“I had to yell for the boys to stop chasing them until I caught up to them. This kid was just there, sitting on a staircase and crying their eyes out. I guess I looked familiar because, when they saw me, they tried to take a step forward.”
Something about his little chuckle here seemed bashful, but it was enough to make your heart stop. “I think I was scared so I just started to run away, back towards the square. They yelled, asked me to wait up. They were lost. So, every few steps I would run and then wait, looked back to make sure they were following and then kept going.
“I took them all the way home,” he said lightly. It was hard to stop your heart from beating and you hoped- prayed the surprise wasn’t clear on your face. When you gave a look to the side, you saw Jisoo bearing her eyes deep into you. She was also listening. She also knew.
“And when I got there, paused outside of their apartment, I-”
“Gave me your hat,” you finished, watching him get caught off guard, “it wasn’t a winter hat, just a green baseball cap with black writing on the band. It says ‘happiness’ on it.”
Both you and him paused. You wondered if he also had his heart in his throat, barely able to breathe but trying your best to.
“That was you,” he murmured. You couldn’t help but repeat his words, meaning it a completely different way. Hana’s words dripped through your memory once more and you found yourself smiling.
Fate was a funny thing.

Rubbish Blog Update
After an intensely busy week we made the most of the weekend, which is to say I got as much shit done as possible.
Saturday I had an eye appointment, then we did the weekly shopping and I came home to cook. Ended up making some freezer meals (broth-steamed quinoa with peppers and onions boxed up with veggie dumplings and veggies, “chicken” patties with veggies and seasoned rice, baked cauliflower mac and cheese, 1 doz hard boiled eggs for lunches, another dozen made up into egg salad.
I also used some of the leftover broccoli to make some veggie-and-egg white patties to go along with the veg sausage for breakfast. While we were out today I picked up a bunch of fresh fruit, so now we’ve got a fruit salad we can dip into for lunch as well.
Even though we’ve been inconsistent with the gym, this has been a lifesaver for me, honestly. I get to cook (which I’ve missed), and on the nights that we go straight to the gym we have a nice dinner ready to be served in a few minutes rather than resorting to frozen processed stuff or me having to grudgingly throw something together when I’m already tired and just wanting to relax.
I set up a “Google Routine” for us that also turns on some nice mood music and lights when we eat dinner, which has been something nice to unravel us from the day. I made another for the bedroom when I’m doing my nightly routine. Sade heavy, of course, because I’m nothing if not predictable.
Speaking of which, I picked up another set of remote-controlled LED button lights today, and installed them in the master bath. So now I can shower to smooth jazz AND have mood lights, stop being jealous.
(It is probably the tackiest thing in the whole entire world to somebody who is not me, but I don’t care, I love it.)
On Saturday night we finally sorted through the pile of convention crap that’s been clogging up the dining room and took a proper inventory of all the art and jewelry I’ve got left. I took pictures of our sales sheets as well, and tomorrow (haha, maybe, ugh) I’m going to take a critical look at what’s sold well historically and what makes the most sense to reproduce.
The little hand-painted pendants, for instance, which I dearly love? Just don’t sell that well. I only have one or two left, so that’s good, but they took forever to sell, and they are really labor intensive to make. Meanwhile, the acrylic dragonfly earrings were inexpensive to make, fairly quick to produce, and people snatched them up.
It’s been an interesting experience, to be sure.
We have a pile of stuff to take to Salvation Army, but it rained all Saturday so that was no good. Maybe some time this week.
Oh, and last Wednesday the handyman came by to install the new door! MY NEW FREE FRONT DOOR! (I’m very proud of this, and I recognize that it is childish, but I don’t care. The dude at Home Depot was ringing up gift card after gift card and just marveling out loud how ridiculous it was. Proud moment for me.)
I started using a new app that lets you take pictures of your store receipts, also allowing you to exchange the points you earn for more gift cards, so we’ll see how I do with that. Let me know if anyone wants to give it a shot, I’ll send you a referral!
Finally had an orthopedist appointment last Wednesday as well. X-rays looked normal, so there’s some sort of soft tissue damage or scar tissue or something? He couldn’t tell without an MRI, and insurance won’t pay for an MRI (softly singing God Bless America under my breath here), so instead he’s sending me to physical therapy for an “abnormal gait.” Lovely. That starts this coming Wednesday, we’ll see how that all goes.
We also went to the gym today and worked up a workout routine in the weights section. I’m off high-impact cardio for the time being, which means no running, and frankly I really think what I need is to regain, and gain, muscle mass. Cardio has never really done anything for me at all, although running can be very relaxing, and I can already feel age-related muscle loss setting in. Can’t have that, so off we go for (ideally) 3 nights a week of weights.
It’s frustrating being so short. Half the machines that I need to use I can’t because I just don’t fit on them -- my head hits the wrong place, the swively bits press against something they shouldn’t -- and in trying to make them work I end up straining something I shouldn’t. Marc helped me figure out which ones I could fit on, proper weight and seat settings, so I should be good now. I wrote everything down, and will work it up into a little chart for myself tomorrow.
I may laminate it, I haven’t decided yet.
In cat news, we are going to have to do something about Rosie. Laugh as we might about her growling at her food bowl, the amount of absolute hysterics she flies into at feeding time, or the lengths she goes to in order to scavenge even the tiniest crumb of food is getting upsetting.
We can’t offer her anything by hand anymore. If you try to give her a treat she will bite through your fingers without even thinking. If you offer her baby food on a spoon as a treat she can no longer contain herself to licking -- she will bite and bite and bite the spoon, and can’t seem to stop herself. I bought her a slow feeder dish and she spent the entire time biting the plastic bits meant to make her go more slowly, just growling and getting more and more upset, until we scraped everything back into her old bowl. When she does eat, it’s like she hasn’t eaten in weeks, and she’s convinced someone is going to steal it.
She is a completely different cat when there’s food in front of her.
She is still (and probably always will be) a very tiny cat -- probably only 5.5 - 6 lbs -- but she is at a healthy weight for her size. I suspect whatever malnutrition she suffered as a kitten permanently stunted her growth.
This sort of behavior can have a physical cause (hyperthyroidism, parasites, etc.), but the copious bloodwork they did on her just a few months ago came back clear, she went through several rounds of powerful dewormers when we first found her, and she is otherwise in good physical shape and health. She’s also, when there’s no food around, still sweet and cuddly and as loving as she always was. There isn’t a mean bone in her body.
We saw this once before, in a cat that we fostered when we first moved into this house -- Cooper. We had to give Cooper back, in part because our other cats couldn’t get along with him, and in part because he was an absolute living nightmare to deal with. He figured out how to scale the barrier into the kitchen, and would dump the trash can and rip through everything he found inside. He would walk the kitchen counters over and over and over again in case he missed something the last time. Every single day, multiple times a day. He’d tear open ANY bag, whether or not it contained food, just in case it might.
Cooper was also found as a starving kitten, although he wasn’t one of ours. Other accounts I’ve read of these behaviors all have that in common as well: kittens (like Rosie) who were found emaciated, plagued with parasites. Even long after they find a safe home with ample food and regular mealtimes, that insecurity never goes away. What has helped others, supposedly, is making the cat a safe and secure place to eat every meal, and not exposing it to food at any other time or place than at meal time.
She’s already not allowed in the kitchen, we now have Rosie-proof trash bins, and although we’re already feeding all the cats separately I’ve taken down one of the carriers to lock her in at breakfast and dinner (this isn’t as bad as it sounds -- she wolfs her food down in a minute flat, so she won’t be in there long, and I’m hoping that only giving her meals and treats in that spot will help her feel less exposed and defensive. I moved her bowl into the carrier and she went right in to investigate, so we’ll see what happens at breakfast tomorrow. Even a slight improvement would be good. On one hand we laugh at this ridiculous, tiny cat growling so unnecessarily and aggressively at dinner time, but after a moment it’s sort of upsetting because clearly she is super stressed out. I guess that about catches me up. I’m going to take a nice long shower and listen to smooth jazz amid color-changing lights (SHHH IT’S FANCY) and then maybe do something creative for a bit. I love you all and I hope you’re well <3
