AU idea for: Bleach.
Orihime is Bi-curious in the 17 months time skip AU.
Tumblr media
While getting Orihime to vent all her worries, Rangiku gets her to talk about her life, during which she learns of Tatsuki & Chizuru and learns of their dynamic with Orihime and each other.
Rangiku, wanting Orihime to stop stressing over a boy(Ichigo) she won't even ask out and wanting her to relax and to enjoy her life/youth, suggests that Orihime date Chizuru & Tatsuki because...
1) Unlike Ichigo, Orihime KNOWS that Chizuru likes her and proposes that Orihime might like Chizuru back since she(Orihime) has, or at least is a big enough of an exhibitionist to have, NEVER asked her(Chizuru) not stop constantly groping her(Orihime) in public all the damn time.
2) Tatsuki might only be reacting so violently to Chizuru groping Orihime because she is jealous, and either wants to grope Orihime herself OR wishes that she herself was the one getting groped by Chizuru.
3) Even if it turns out that Orihime doesn't like girls, dating Chizuru & Tatsuki, and letting them know about the reasoning going into it, might end up with Chizuru & Tatsuki getting together and being happy with each other...and as their friend, isn't it her(Orihime's) "job" to help her friend(s) be happy.
Rangiku doesn't actually believe Tatsuki likes Orihime or Chizuru romantically, but she wants to get Orihime's mind off Ichigo, and all the stressing out she does because of her feelings for him, with as many distractions as possible, be it dating around herself or playing match maker for others.
Orihime, misinterprets "&", which was meant as sequentially, as meaning concurrently, and thus proposes to Chizuru & Tatsuki that they become a throuple...which they do during the 17 month time skip between parts 1 and 2 of Bleach.

I need more content on your OCs
Ahh this is the nicest ask, I love talking about my babies :3 I really do want to start posting more about them so take some i to posts about a few of them
Tristan:
~Okay so little info, he’s a high elf who joins with the rest of my characters under a contract or service in exchange of protection for himself and his sister (insert paragraphs worth of lore here that no one is interested in- this is an agere blog I need to stop). Selectively mute as a trauma response, which puts off a lot of people, because elves already look down on other races, so most people first meeting him think Tristan is just being an arse. Really he’s just socially awkward and doesn’t know how to get along with people, or the right things to say.
~Middle space regressor 8-12 , who’s usually the one getting people into trouble. Because he thinks that what he was allowed to get away with as a child, is fine to be doing regressed.
~Mentally 8 year old who thinks it would be a great idea if he gave May matching ear piercings like he has! Yes, she’s mentally two years old right now, that probably isn’t something to be concerned about (It definitely is)
“I got mine pierced at dis age! Not fair!!” Captain Spurgeon who’s having to deal with a sobbing toddler (who mind you has survived much, much worse than a small prick to her ear) “Just because you could before, doesn’t make it a smart choice now” Tristan: “Your mean!” Spurgeon: “Why am I always the bad guy here?”
~Trying to dye his own hair small. It turns out orange. Tristan is crying, trying to bleach his hair again would be a terrible decision and he’s pretty sure he’s just going to hide away for the next two weeks until the color fades
~Moral of the story, he can’t be alone when regressed, especially not with another little around.
~Has a really rocky relationship with his dad Jilk, who’s trying to be better. Tristan is a lot more open when he’s regressed, not that he fully trusts his father. Jilk meanwhile is so scared that he’s going to somehow like, break his son. Little one wants to be held? It takes the elder a full minute to work up the courage to actually pick his kid up.
Laurence:
~Wow the actual canonical regressor in my (soon to be) series (Yes I am aware that any of my characters can technically be regressors, but a lot of it is just implied, whereas with Laurence I do write him a lot younger than his actual age
~Perma regressor to the ages of 5 to 7, other times he regresses to baby space
~A young boy with a gifted mask of a long-passed fox spirited. These powers creep their way into his physical form and he can often be found with ghost like ears and tails of the fox who cursed/blessed him. He’s always had a fascination in ghosts and tells others things that he shouldn’t have knowledge to.
~As much as anyone knows he’s Dustin’s younger brother, though he doesn’t refer to the elder by his name and simply the title of ‘brother’ There’s a running bet if he actually does know Dustin’s name or not.
~Usually his brother looks after him, though after warming up to the crew members it turns out he’s an absolute mama’s boy. He clings to Hannah because the avian reminds him of his bio mom.
~Carries a fox toy with him when he’s little and gets his brother to make his toy little outfits so that he can play dress up. Often trying to get the other littles to play make believe with him by ‘bribing’ them that they can pick any of his stuffies (besides his fox) to play with
~Still in that phase of having imaginary friends. It’s all fine and dandy until asked who went to get him a sippy cup or a bottle of his favorite drink (baby is not allowed to use the stove) and he says that  **** got it for him.
Captain William C. Spurgeon
~The owner of the largest flying trade ship in the known nations, the S.W. Tallow. He’s a gruff and stoic man, who’s closest friend is his first mate Gale. He only got involved in this group of runaways when asked to fly them across port (and sub sequentially stow them away on his ship and get his own bounty increased) And turns out it’s sort of nice to have the place feel alive again instead of having so many empty rooms with nothing but stock and crates to fill the space.
~Grumpy father figure who “didn’t sign up for this” He loves his kids, he’s just in denial of them being his kids
“Where the hell are my ki- I mean- the kids, the kids”
~Something, something sea captain who is afraid of water (the theory now is that he doesn’t know how to swim and possibly almost drowned before??? It doesn’t explain why he still travels the oceans though…) Doesn’t help with bathtimes, or if a kiddo wants to go wade into the shallows, even just grabbing a cup or water or tea he refuses- let someone else do it
~Makes homemade toys with old washed up pieces of sea wood, and macrame baby toys. Could probably carry around one of the teenagers for most of the afternoon and not even blink an eye at it. He’s known for his stories. Spurgeon has met mythical creatures only few whisper about, he knows about the depths of the oceans, he talks about forgotten history from hundreds of years ago as though he was there…
~The regressor’s listening are amazed, the adults who over hear however can’t decide whether to chalk it up to an old sea captain who has spent years accumulating a knack of storytelling for long trips spent with nothing but waves and sky for company, or if there’s something he isn’t letting them in on…
(Wow I wrote nearly a thousand words over just three characters. Yeah I’ve been developing this story for almost three years now, I have a lot to share hehe. Hopping to have my own book in maybe the next couple years :3 )

Man it is worth pointing out that the ACA is a living piece of legislation. Like every year updated protocols and guidelines release to the whole industry from CMS (gov oversight) and I educate professionals in my field on the changes each time. It was built intentionally to be an evolving and improving system that can handle more and more people each year. The ACA is not a stone tablet; it's an arm of federally protected benefits like Medicare that is inherited and maintained and built up by sequential administrations. It is WORKING, it's so reassuring to see it become so intertwined with our American health care model that an entire wing of the industry is now dedicated to the ACA.
Yeah, we want a better health care system, of course we do!! That's why so many people dedicate their careers to supporting the ACA!!! THIS is the fish crawling onto land that can eventually become a health care system that treats us with dignity. We just have to keep evolving it into a more equitable and accessible option. I vote with my head mostly tuned into future health care + research policies and it makes my goals much clearer. Biden has spent 2 separate administrations leading the Cancer Moonshot research funding initiative that has contributed significantly to the boom in cancer breakthroughs. Trump suggested we drink bleach for covid. I trust one significantly more than the other to continue funding ACA and NIH initiatives and interests 🤷

OP OPs
Sometimes an anime has an opening that’s so good the anime in question can’t live up to it. Sometimes an anime that’s absolute turds gets an OP that’s an absolute banger because the people making the opener still want a career in the industry and nobody maligns their work because of the anime association. After all, Bleach made a bunch of number 1 hits.
And bear in mind, I’m pre-emptively cutting things where the opening of the anime is so good that even a good anime can’t match up to it. Otherwise we’d have things like Gunsmith Cats and Paranoia Agent in this list because even though those are great shows their openings are preposterous. I might even put season 1 of Oshi No Ko in that list, where a good show I enjoyed had to grapple with an opening so good that the rest of the series can go sit on a shelf. Asterisk is the opening to an anime that went absolutely down the toilet but I don’t think it’s a fair example of what this is.
Nope, this is about real duds of an anime that had an inexplicably good opening. These are anime that are going to crest the high water mark of ‘mid.’ I’m also avoiding anime that I just don’t like that I think still appeal to their core audience. This is stuff that I feel like it wants me to like it, specifically, and it did a bad job at delivering on that because of plotting, pacing, storytelling, getting distracted and trailing off mid sandwiches or wanting to be about something that maybe was racist or creepy. Also, just assume all the good openings for My Hero Academia are here in honorary slots, because that show is pants.
Ready go go go go
Photon
Photon: The Idiot Adventures (Intro) [HD]
Watch this video on YouTube
This opening has nipples in it, so you’ll have to click through to see it.
Photon: The Idiot Adventures is a particular type of anime that wants to use a stupid character as its excuse for its stupid story. It’s a fanservice adventure anime tied in with the Tenchi Muyoverse which means it has every bit of depth and meaningful relationship to long term storytelling that that Star Wars EU wanted to be. It’s built around a main character, named Photon, who is superhumanly strong and incredibly stupid, and gets caught up in the adventure of other characters who are you know, doing stuff and accidentally lays claim to a gorgeous supermodel who shows off her boobs a lot because he drew an insult on her forehead, which, you know, that’s a normal and not-contrived reason for a character who can’t talk to suddenly get foisted with a harem. He’s also the stupidest person in the world, so stupidity-powered magic doesn’t work on him.
Photon is six episodes long and I have told you everything interesting in it in that one paragraph.
The opening however? Beautiful! I’ve had it on the playlists for twenty years, with its lovely mix of restful pipes and then sudden, soaring guitar. Great theme! Love it to bits! The show sucks!
Outlaw Star
Outlaw Star opening HD
Watch this video on YouTube
This may infringe on the memories of Americans who were teenagers during the Toonami days, but Outlaw Star kind of gets to sneak along in the shadow of Cowboy Bebop, a show that is also about cowboys in space but crucially avoids a lot of nasty, sexist stuff around Space Catgirls that unfortunately, serves as the foundation of Outlaw Star. Also, they broadcast it dubbed, which, y’know, everyone involved was trying their best, I am sure. I might just be a bit bitter because of the entire idea of ‘cool fighty catgirl who is actually just the same archetype as all the other protagonist-seeking wastes of space’ and she looks like a stick most of the time.
Outlaw Star’s opening oozes style. It’s slick and it’s got a bright, aggressive feeling to it that it compliments by bringing down each phrase in the opening in this sequential sort of verbal stomp. And they don’t just do it once, they use that to punctuate the start and wrap of the song.
Orphen Op 1
Majutsushi Orphen Opening 1 - Ai Just on my Love
Watch this video on YouTube
You will never encounter such an enduring truth that anime is not a meritocracy that Sorcerous Stabber Orphen is still being made.
Orphen is a very rudimentary anime series based on what I think is a playstation era JRPG or whatever, which tells the story of a very good magic boy who is good at magic but he is sad about his magic because his mentor was better at magic and then she messed up and turned into a dragon so now he’s on a quest to follow that dragon and turn her back into a pretty lady who he wants to kiss. This is not a hollow concept in and of itself, it’s not a bad place to start, and quite frankly ‘here is an adventure idiot, good at magic’ was the heart of Slayers, one of the routine winners of Best In Category anime that exist.
What set Orphen apart is the way that the first series back in the 90s was agonisingly slow in the way it wanted to cover every detail of every mid-quest on every step, but the way it padded that slowness with multiple iterations on conversations with the characters bouncing back and forth to the two reaction characters, a Girl who is there to be a problem and a boy who is there to talk about how great Orphen is in every scene.
See all that cool action in the opening?
Yeah, that’s not in the show.
Shame, I love this jazzy opening.
The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today
デキる猫は今日も憂鬱 [The Masterful Cat is Depressed Again Today] - Title Song
Watch this video on YouTube
See! I’m not just making fun of 90s anime we had to suffer through because someone bought all the VHS to club and there was only so much anime we could even watch! We were going to get our money’s worth out of it, after all, right? No, I’m also going to make fun of new anime, like the recent show The Masterful Cat Is Depressed Again!
I didn’t like this show for a whole host of reasons, not the least of which being that it’s boring, but also the character of the cat is ruined by letting him speak. When he’s just a big cool cat that does something weird, it’s interesting and confusing and asks questions. When we get his inner dialogue he’s a fat-shaming asshole who makes fun of his owner for being overburdened under capitalism and not caring about appearances the way he, a cat does.
The opening paints a fun story about a slice of life story that’s about a sort of lifting, hopeful tone, something that speaks to the story of a commuter, a liver of life in the city, a main character who spends her time moving from project to project, making friends at the office, and then coming home to her ‘roommate’ who is a full time carer. It’s a really good, breezy opening for what it’s doing, and a lovely song with some acrobatics to match with the way the animation wants to follow the movement of a cat running around excitedly!
Metallic Rouge
Metallic Rouge - Opening | Rouge
Watch this video on YouTube
Make whatever excuses you want, complain about a truncated schedule, whatever you want, this is ultimately a science fiction story about ‘well, what if slavery isn’t so bad?’ Which is a shame because the music is stylish and bouncy, plays with the feeling of transformation and has a wonderful break into the feeling of impact in the later part of the song. I really like the way Metallic Rouge sounds and it stands out how the anime is as a show absolutely not going to live up to this standard.
They even do it twice: Crimson Lightning is a great ‘time for an ass kicking’ song that this anime absolutely does not deserve.
Peacemaker Kurogane’s ED
PeaceMaker Kurogane END (Hey! Jimmy)
Watch this video on YouTube
This is something of a cheat because it’s an ending, not an opening. On the other hand, this song is just such a legitimately fun, crunchy rock track that sings the song of a cool guy named Jimmy who needs to be encouraged to stand up for himself, even to the point the chorus chants it out —
YOU GOT TO FIGHT FOR YO MONEY
— that it stuck in my memory for decades.
Know what I can’t tell you? I can’t tell you anything else about Peacemaker Kurogane except the main character really wants to be one of the secret police who stalk people in Tokyo during the lockdowns on poor people.
DNA^2
opening dna 2
Watch this video on YouTube
The 90s were a different time, which is a shame, because if it was right now, we’d have the opportunity to prevent 9/11 and kill Shinzo Abe earlier. But particularly of note is this little spur of a song by industry titans L’arc En Ciel. You probably recognise their sound from Ready Steady Go, an opening for Fullmetal Alchemist, or the ending of Rurouni Kenshin, where, hilariously, the single was dropped from the show because the drummer of the band was caught with drugs.
boy how that feels different now.
Anyway, Blurry Eyes is a great pop song, I love it a lot. I wish it wasn’t attached to this awful anime that follows in the footprints if not blueprints of the author’s previous work, Video Girl Ai. But where Ai was about the idea of ‘what if a computer could love you back,’ DNA^2 is about ‘what if an incel was secretly so sigma he would breed humanity into extinction if he ever decided to have sex.’ It has time travel, it has Super Saiyan modes, it has ridiculous powers, and it has just way too much unsettling and unpleasant relationships to sex and sexuality that treats men as incapable of being responsible with things like ‘who they fuck’ because birth control doesn’t exist in the world.
I didn’t mean to bring up Shinzo Abe without a good reason, but uh…
Love Hina
"Sakura Saku" - Love Hina Opening 1080p
Watch this video on YouTube
This show was an international success for so many reasons, many of which were ‘nobody thought the two children in the harem were a problem, and that’s a pretty weird thing to be okay with,’ but also the opening was great. For a manic, high-speed anime that wanted to present a feeling of being out of control, Sakura Saku had a great vibe to fit with the animation, but it even transcended the indescribable midness of being (Love Hina).
I don’t have a lot to say here, though because this was one of many anime with a Megumi Hayashibara single as the opening, in the period of her life when she was probably at the height of her sheer star-making power. This anime literally lowered everyone’s standards, but I watched the opening every episode.
(Weirdly? The manga’s markedly better.)
Bakuretsu Tenshi
Burst Angel - opening - loosey
Watch this video on YouTube
Sometimes there are people who will ruminate on how the lost of the OVA as a format meant we as a community lost something important, something deep in our culture as a way for animation studios to get started or to explore new and novel ideas that didn’t necessarily have a whole series to go for them. To that I would point out that online streaming media still has those spaces, and also, that system gave us Burst Angel, an anime that promises so much with its interesting ideas and runs out of steam in five episodes without much idea of what it’s doing after that point. It is an anime that has every chance to be good, and then they gave it to the guy who made MD Geist.
Heck, this was a studio Gonzo anime back when that wasn’t a punchline. Something to do with them pumping out huge amounts of anime very early in the studio’s life, almost like there was some kind of pervasive and abusive culture of overproduction.
Anyway.
Loosey is a real fun track! It’s got flute! It’s got chanting! It’s got a jazzy vibe in a time when anime could use more of those!
Wish the anime lived up to it, or even had, y’know, a second thing to remember it for.
Check it out on PRESS.exe to see it with images and links!

Effective Whitening Formulations for Textile Restoration
Key Components in Textile Whitening Formulations Role of Enzyme Agents in Stain Breakdown Enzymes are pivotal in textile whitening as they act as catalysts to accelerate stain breakdown through biochemical reactions. This enzymatic action is crucial for optimal whitening results. Specific enzymes like proteases, amylases, and lipases target proteins, starches, and fats, respectively, therefore significantly enhancing stain removal effectiveness. For instance, a study indicates that enzyme-based treatments can improve fabric brightness by up to 30% more than traditional methods. This makes enzyme agents indispensable components of textile whitening formulations, as they not only clean but also enhance the visual appeal of fabrics.
Oxidizing vs. Reducing Bleaching Agents Bleaching agents fall into two primary categories: oxidizing and reducing agents. Oxidizing agents, such as hydrogen peroxide, work by releasing oxygen molecules that lift stains and whiten fabrics, making them staples in conventional bleach formulations. On the other hand, reducing agents like sodium dithionite excel at removing colors from dyes and pigments and are particularly beneficial for specific textile restoration processes. Understanding the interaction of these agents with fabric fibers is paramount to maximizing whitening efficacy while ensuring the integrity of the textile is maintained.
pH-Balanced Solutions for Fabric Safety Maintaining a pH-neutral environment is critical in textile whitening formulations to prevent fabric degradation. Solving this involves ensuring a pH around 7, allowing the preservation of fibers and delivering longer-lasting results. Some formulations incorporate pH-adjusting agents to stabilize solutions, ensuring compatibility with a broad spectrum of textile types. Research emphasizes that improper pH balance can lead to discoloration or fiber damage, thereby underscoring the importance of precision in formulation. This careful balancing act protects the fabric while effectively enhancing its whiteness.
Advanced Techniques for Stain Removal Sequential Treatment for Rust & Organic Stains Sequential treatment is an advanced technique that addresses complex stains by utilizing different agents for targeted cleaning. For instance, rust stains often require specific agents to dissolve them effectively, while organic stains may be better treated with enzymes that break down biological compounds. This step-by-step approach ensures each type of stain is handled with a tailored solution, enhancing the cleaning process. By employing sequential treatments, fabric care is more precise, and the risk of damaging the material is minimized. In fact, studies have shown that this method can achieve over 50% better removal rates for complex stains compared to generic treatments. Such tailored techniques are crucial for achieving superior results in stain management.
Controlled Application of Sodium Dithionite Sodium dithionite is a powerful decolorizing agent known for its ability to strip color without overheating or overexposing fabrics to chemicals. However, its application requires careful control to prevent potential fabric damage. Effective techniques include precise dilution, managing the temperature, and monitoring application time to ensure the ideal level of decolorization while protecting the textile's integrity. Industry experts highlight the importance of using sodium dithionite in a controlled pH environment to optimize its effectiveness and curtail any adverse effects. Proper usage enhances the fabric's appearance without compromising its strength and safety.
Vacuum Suction for Precision Cleaning Vacuum suction technology represents a significant advancement in textile care, enabling precision cleaning by applying cleaning agents accurately and evenly. This method is particularly beneficial for delicate textiles such as upholstery, where oversaturation can be avoided. Vacuum suction is an innovation that enhances not just the thoroughness but also the speed of the cleaning process, leading to greater operational efficiency. Research indicates that this approach can reduce cleaning time by up to 30% while delivering impressive results. As a precise and mess-free solution, vacuum suction is a valuable technique in modern stain removal and textile maintenance tasks.
High-Quality Enzyme-Based Solutions Enzyme-Active Shoe Foam Powder Features The enzyme-active shoe foam powder is specifically formulated to tackle the unique challenges present in footwear materials, such as tough stains and persistent odors. This product utilizes advanced cleaning technology that allows for multi-layer cleansing, ensuring that even the most ingrained dirt is efficiently broken down. Moreover, its biodegradable formulation supports eco-friendly practices, appealing to eco-conscious consumers. Through consumer feedback, there's a strong preference for enzyme-based products due to their remarkable ability to not only clean but also prevent re-soiling, maintaining footwear cleanliness for extended periods.
High Quality enzyme agents white shoe cleaner powder for Mesh shoes Designed specifically for mesh shoes, this enzyme-based cleaner powder effectively removes tough stains and odors, ensuring thorough cleaning while aligning with eco-friendly practices. It incorporates advanced cleaning technology that penetrates deep into the layers of fabric for improved cleaning efficacy. 3-Year Stability & Custom Formulation Options Ensuring the stability of enzyme solutions is essential, as properly stored formulations can maintain their efficacy over three years, significantly reducing wastage. This offers a cost-effective and sustainable approach for users. Moreover, custom formulation options provide cleaning professionals the ability to tailor products to address specific challenges, enhancing both the solution's effectiveness and its market appeal. Recent stability studies published in 2021 have demonstrated that enzyme formulations, when stabilized correctly, can retain functionality up to 90% efficiency even after three years, affirming the reliability of these solutions over time.
OEM/ODM Compatibility for Restoration Professionals OEM and ODM services have revolutionized the way restoration professionals integrate enzyme-based solutions into their product offerings. These services allow professionals the flexibility to seamlessly incorporate top-notch enzyme formulations into their existing lineups, creating bespoke cleaning solutions that resonate with the evolving demands of consumers. Current industry trends highlight an increasing desire for customized solutions, aligning well with the needs of restoration professionals. By adopting OEM/ODM strategies, brands can maintain product integrity while catering to niche consumer preferences, ultimately enhancing their market positioning.
Wet Cleaning vs. Dry Cleaning Efficiency Throughput Comparison: 60-Pound Load Processing Wet cleaning processes have demonstrated superior efficiency in handling large loads, such as a 60-pound capacity, compared to traditional dry cleaning methods. This efficiency is evident in commercial settings like hospitals and hotels, where handling large quantities of textiles quickly is essential. Wet cleaning can increase productivity by 50%, as it requires only about half the time to process the same load compared to dry cleaning. Additionally, studies show wet cleaning can save up to 30% in water usage when executed optimally. Choosing the right cleaning method in bulk cleaning operations can significantly enhance throughput and overall operational efficiency.
Smoke Odor Elimination Without Ozone Pre-Treatment One of the significant advantages of advanced wet cleaning techniques is the ability to effectively eliminate smoke odors without the need for an ozone pre-treatment. This is particularly important because ozone processes can be harsh and potentially damaging to textiles, whereas wet cleaning maintains the integrity of fabrics. Laboratory tests have repeatedly confirmed the efficacy of wet cleaning in odor removal, making it a suitable choice for restoration applications across various environments. Experts advocate for this method due to its dual capability of ensuring both effectiveness and safety, especially in settings where chemical treatments are undesirable.
NFPA-Recommended Water-Based Decontamination The National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) endorses water-based decontamination methods for their effectiveness in removing hazardous substances from textiles. These practices adhere to contemporary environmental standards by employing non-toxic cleaning agents. Compliance with NFPA guidelines not only guarantees the safe and effective restoration of protective gear but also aligns with the growing demand for eco-friendly solutions within the textile restoration industry. These water-based techniques are crucial for professionals striving to offer secure decontamination services while enhancing the market viability of their practices.
Preserving Restored Textile Integrity Multi-Stage Rinsing Protocols Implementing multi-stage rinsing protocols is vital for preserving the integrity of restored textiles. These protocols involve extensive rinsing at various stages, effectively removing residues of cleaning agents to prevent degradation. Studies have proven that textiles subjected to multi-stage rinsing have a 40% lower risk of degradation compared to single-stage methods, highlighting their importance in textile restoration.
Low-Temperature Drying Cycles Adopting low-temperature drying cycles is crucial for protecting sensitive fibers from heat damage, thus extending the lifespan of restored textiles. Drying at temperatures below 130°F helps retain more color and texture, which is particularly important for delicate fabrics. Industry manuals recommend low-temperature options to maintain structural integrity, ensuring that restored textiles remain vibrant and robust.
Preventive Maintenance for Colorfastness Preventive maintenance measures are key to maintaining the colorfastness of restored textiles. Techniques such as utilizing color-safe products and controlling wash conditions play significant roles in preventing fading. Statistical evidence indicates that textiles undergoing rigorous preventive maintenance can retain their color integrity for at least five years, making these measures indispensable for textile care and preservation.

Sizzling Secrets: Sulphur's Spectacular Applications and Manufacturing Techniques!
Tumblr media
Sulphur is one of the most versatile elements present in nature. This unsung hero is a non-metal that shows up in surprising places, from the car battery under your hood to the paper you're reading this on.
One of Sulphur's most crucial applications is in fertilizer production. By helping create phosphate fertilizers, Sulphur plays a vital role in agriculture, keeping our plants healthy and our food supply strong. This is just a glimpse into the many ways Sulphur is used in our everyday lives.  From the invisible power source in our cars to the paper we use to communicate, Sulphur is a silent but essential part of our world.  In this blog, we will highlight the:
Manufacturing process of Sulphur
Sulphur’s end use applications
Market outlook of Sulphur
Introduction
Sulphur stands as a pivotal component within the chemical sector, primarily recognized for its role as Sulphuric acid, a cornerstone in various industrial processes. Its significance amplifies in the creation of phosphate fertilizers, a dominant sector for Sulphur utilization. Beyond this, it finds application in rubber refinement, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals, reflecting its versatile nature. The ease of its transportation, coupled with its integral role in industrial economies, renders it a commodity of global significance.
Derived mainly from processes like petroleum refining and natural gas processing, Sulphur emerges as a non-metallic, odorless element, occurring naturally in sulfide minerals. Its production extends from diverse chemical operations, including oil refining and metallurgy. Widely embraced across industries like automotive, where it contributes to battery manufacturing, Sulphur also finds its place in sectors such as oil refining, pesticide production, and detergent manufacturing. Moreover, its presence in the paper industry for bleaching purposes underscores its diverse utility. Notably, Sulphur plays a vital role in synthesizing phosphate fertilizers, marking one of its paramount applications.
Manufacturing Process
Tumblr media
The Claus process is the main technique for gas desulphurization, extracting elemental Sulphur from gaseous hydrogen sulfide. It unfolds in a dual-stage manner, commencing with a thermal phase, where temperatures soar above 850°C, followed by a catalytic stage. The catalytic facet of Sulphur reclamation comprises three sequential components:
Firstly, the gas undergoes reheating before it interfaces with the catalyst bed. This preparatory step primes the gas for the subsequent catalytic reactions. Every catalytic stage consists of a gas reheater, a catalyst chamber, and a condenser.
Secondly, catalytic reaction transpires, a critical juncture where residual H2S interacts with SO2 at relatively lower temperatures, typically oscillating between 200 and 350°C. Employing a catalyst as the medium, this process engenders the production of additional Sulphur. Despite the efficacy of the catalyst, the reaction seldom reaches complete fruition. Consequently, to augment Sulphur yield, multiple reactors are employed in tandem. In the Claus process, a fraction of the hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is combusted with air within a reactor furnace, leading to the formation of Sulphur dioxide (SO2) through the ensuing chemical reaction:
Thirdly, the process culminates in cooling and condensation within Sulphur condensers. Here, the gas stream emanating from both the burner and the catalytic reactors undergoes cooling, precipitating a reduction in temperature to a range of 150 to 130°C. This deliberate cooling facilitates the removal of Sulphur at intervals, ensuring efficiency and efficacy throughout the process. Alumina or bauxite is occasionally utilized as a catalyst. Due to the equilibrium nature of this reaction, a Claus plant cannot entirely convert all incoming Sulphur compounds into elemental Sulphur. Thus, multiple stages are employed consecutively to recover Sulphur, with each catalytic stage capable of retrieving approximately half to two-thirds of the incoming Sulphur. The quantity of catalytic stages needed depends on the desired level of conversion. It's estimated that an overall recovery of 95 to 97 percent can be attained, depending on the number of catalytic reaction stages and the reheating method utilized.
In natural gas processing plants, reheating is typically accomplished with auxiliary burners or heat exchangers, occasionally utilizing steam reheat. Conversely, in crude oil refineries, the typical reheating method involves using steam at pressures ranging from 3536 to 4223 kPa. Presently, most plants are constructed with two catalytic stages, although some regulatory bodies mandate three for air quality reasons. After the final catalytic stage, the process stream moves to a tailgas treatment process, where the tailgas, containing H2S, SO2, Sulphur vapor, and small amounts of other Sulphur compounds from the combustion section, escapes with inert gases at the plant's tail end. Consequently, it's often necessary to follow the Claus unit with a tailgas cleanup unit to achieve higher recovery rates.

Major Applications of Sulphur
Chemical Processing
Around 90-95% of elemental Sulphur is primarily utilized in the manufacture of Sulphuric acid, a pivotal compound in various industrial processes. Sulphuric acid finds extensive applications, notably in the production of phosphoric acid for phosphate fertilizers, crucial for fostering plant growth. Additionally, it serves as a precursor in the synthesis of various chemicals, including detergents, pigments, and explosives.
Rubber Vulcanization
Sulphur also serves as a fundamental element in the vulcanization process, which enhances the strength and elasticity of rubber. Through vulcanization, Sulphur creates cross-links within the rubber polymer chains, resulting in a more durable and resilient material. This vulcanized rubber finds widespread use in an array of products, ranging from tires and hoses to footwear. Its enhanced properties make it indispensable in applications requiring flexibility, durability, and resistance to wear and tear. Thus, Sulphur's contribution to vulcanization underscores its vital role in shaping various industries reliant on rubber-based material.
Fertilizers
Plants need Sulphur for various functions like using nitrogen, enzymes working properly, and making proteins and oils. When plants lack Sulphur, their stems become short and thin, and the new leaves at the top turn yellow.
Market Outlook
The chemical sector stands as the principal force propelling the global Sulphur market, with increasing demand projected from downstream industries driving its growth in the foreseeable future. Beyond the chemical industry, Sulphur finds significant applications in metal processing and the production of Sulphur polymer concrete for the construction sector, contributing further to the anticipated expansion of the Sulphur market in the coming years. Sulphur, known for its cost-effectiveness, is extensively utilized in the production of fertilizers like calcium sulfate, renowned for its efficacy in preventing nutrient runoff and soil erosion. These Sulphur-based fertilizers, whether organic or synthetic, enrich soil or plants with essential nutrients, fostering growth and productivity. They play a vital role in enhancing agricultural output, replenishing soil fertility, and supplementing plant development by compensating for nutrient depletion. This is an essential factor that supports the Sulphur market expansion.
Sulphur Major Global Players
Significant companies in the Global Sulphur market are Shell, Saudi Aramco, The New Zealand Refining Co., Ltd., ADNOC, SINOPEC, ExxonMobil, The China National Petroleum Corporation, Reliance Petroleum's, Valero Refining New Orleans LLC, Agip-KCO, Phillips 66 Company, BP America, Inc., Syncrude Canada Ltd., Kuwait National Petroleum Company, and Others.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, Sulphur is a vital non-metallic element with diverse applications across industries such as automotive, oil refining, and agriculture. Its natural occurrence in sulfide minerals and its production as a by-product in various chemical processes contribute to its availability. The increasing demand for Sulphur is driven by its essential role in industrial and chemical manufacturing processes, as well as its use in the production of phosphate-based fertilizers. With urbanization trends and the need for rubber and chemicals on the rise, the global Sulphur market is anticipated to expand significantly in the foreseeable future.

went for a jog and all I got was this thought experiment
This is not a very hinged post, even by the typically low standards for hingedness on this blog, so I’m just going to. Put a cut in here nice and early.
It’s deer season right now, so I while I was out for a jog this evening I heard a gunshot and got to thinking, like, what does a bankai release sound like, and from how far away can it be heard?
I mean, maybe it depends on the bankai, though in generally they tend to be pretty flashy in general, and everyone’s gotta release, regardless of what happens after that.
We know that when actually fighting (with either bankai or shikai) friendly fire is a big consideration, to the extent that there are protocols for implementing third-party shields/etc. that don’t have to be put up by the combatants themselves--like when Yumichika orders a bunch for the Advance Team in real-time. And of course we end up with these 1v1 fights all the time, for reasons of tradition and practicality both. (Though the fact that so many of the fights during Fake Karakura are SEQUENTIAL rather than simultaneous cracks me up, because they really all just watched Ikkaku lose that pillar, huh??? Even if these fights take place over a matter of minutes rather than the 45min they feel like to us, still--!!)
This isn’t about sound, specifically, but thinking through what information we do have about bankai/shikai distances: People were fighting pretty far away from each other in that arc, given the entirety of Fake Karakura was below them. Kyouraku and Starrk got to see some snow crystals, but that’s it, so I assume they were 3 ri or more from Hitsugaya and Halibel:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
[Bleach 132]
NB: The 3 ri is a radial measurement, as he says “3 ri in all (4) sides/directions.”
This very random number is honestly a neat detail--TO ME--because that’s around the average size of a storm cell! (Possibly related, but I was recently told by a child that I spend an above average amount of time on the Weather App, and that instead I should look at TikToks in bed like a normal person.) Don’t get me started on the fascinating history of antiquated Japanese units of measurement, because that was also very interesting to me. I think the wildest part is that there are measurements for area rather than just length, but since Hitsugaya doesn’t use them does this mean that Soul Society was just like “fuck it, we have had to change calendars and writing systems and units of measurement and vocabularies TOO MANY TIMES to keep up with these fucking living human people, we are eliminating some of these!!!” because boy nothing would excite me more than reading the AP Style Guide for Soul Society--
But anyway, that’s just what we know about the potential impacts and their range. I want to know about sound! How far away can you hear that release? Can you hear it from as far away as a rifle? As far away as thunder? How much of an impact re: temperature/relative humidity would tensou juurin have on these distances? What about standing up in the sky vs. on the ground where all the buildings and trees are?
I don’t have any desire to know these things for applied use--this is one of those things where making up the questions is way more interesting than any answers--but yes my jog was very cold and uphill and I had a lot of time to think about ephemera why do you ask

How would the relationship be between Yandere Marcus and Leah
Okay, I've actually thought through how this would play out.
Marcus would be a weird one, man. At least by my initial estimations.
After the drama dies down in the wake of Breaking Dawn, Leah goes on a journey to find herself. (Meyer's statement that Leah just lives contentedly as Jacob's second in command doesn't work for me, and since she never actually stated it in the books, I don't have to contend with it.) She gets some distance from the people who have emotionally tormented her for years now.
Shortly after, the Volturi is ready to make their move. It hasn't been a full year since the Cullens' trial, but they don't want to let people keep thinking they've lost for too long, and anyway, the conditions are perfect for them to get a victory; the Cullens' "witnesses" are split up into their various locales. They can pretty much just attack them sequentially, and the Cullens would be screwed.
However, it would be most convenient if they could do this without Alice seeing them decide. And Aro has read Edward; he knows that the wolves block Alice's visions. And since Demetri was present at the battle, he is equipped to find a wolf (at least one of the ones who were there) anywhere on the planet.
What I'm saying is, the Volturi abducts Leah. They're super nice to her about it; Aro would like very much for them to be allies. Edward mentioned his interest in the wolves, in the book.
But then when she's finally brought before Aro, something happens.
Marcus slowly sits up in his seat, with a peculiar exhale.
(He didn't take much notice of the wolves, during the "trial" proceedings. Not individually.)
"Brother?" Aro inquires, extending his hand to Marcus.
Marcus brushes his hand against Aro's to show him how this is the first thing to truly interest him in centuries. How he can see his own attachment to Leah forming.
Aro goes, "Oh, how wonderful!" He's grinning from ear to ear, but his mind is going a mile a minute.
It's not great that he now has to be extra careful with Leah, instead of just discarding her if she doesn't fall in line. He can't afford another Didyme situation; it would be too suspicious. But he also can't afford to have her pulling Marcus away. If she insists that she wants to leave...Marcus will do anything to make her reciprocate his feelings for her. He can see that she feels nothing in particular for him, and he desperately wants to change that. If the wolf girl were to demand to leave, Marcus would order that they let her go, and their underlings would be shocked at their indifferent king's sudden investment; maybe they would look to Aro before they obeyed, but they would obey. Countermanding Marcus outright would be losing him to this wolf. Not doing so would also be losing him to this wolf; if Leah were to leave here, Marcus would go with her. He would be unable to let her leave his sight.
Because there is something more important to Marcus than having his feelings returned, and Aro can use that.
Leah, meanwhile, is standing there with her arms crossed, managing to hide that it's a struggle not to phase on the spot; the place smells like it's wall-to-wall bleach fumes, as far as she's concerned, and it's crawling with bloodsuckers. It wouldn't benefit her to phase, but it feels bizarre not to.
"What?" she says. "What's wonderful?" Maybe she manages not to finish with "...bloodsucker", or maybe she doesn't.
Aro informs her that Marcus has fallen in love with her. His tone is utterly affectionate and welcoming, as if she is already a part of his family.
Leah either says, "Yeah, no," or just "F**k." No more supernatural insta-love, especially not from some leech! Especially not from one of the royal leeches!
(Caius is also dismayed and annoyed, but everyone ignores him.)
Aro says, "Don't worry, dear Leah. The business for which we initially borrowed you is no longer relevant. Now, our highest concern is keeping you safe." And he begins to spin his narrative, that will preemptively keep Marcus from straying:
They have to keep her safe, from a world of vampires who would see her as a threat. They have to keep her safe from her own heroism; left to her own devices, Leah will try to fight any threat to humans. They have to keep her where they can be sure she will never come to harm.
Marcus is immediately swayed; now, despite Leah actively cursing them out, he's on-board with Aro's suggestions.
Aro takes Leah's hand in his. She immediately snatches it away, both because she remembers about his power and because she just doesn't want him touching her in general, but he held it for long enough to get a crash course on her life, thoughts, and dreams.
(If this were a yandere Aro situation, he would use this information to utterly "pamper" her in increasingly misguided ways. But that's a separate post; ask me later!)
He employs honeyed words to make her more receptive, or at least resigned, to the situation: They won't keep her down here; she'll have a home in the sunlight, with fresh air, with rooms furnished however she likes, and they'll pay for all of it. Yes, it will be on the premises (and that will be very convenient for keeping Alice from seeing anything they decide to do from now on. Back at home, the Cullens have either guessed that the Volturi has taken Leah, using the available information, or they're in-character, meaning they're going "How could the Volturi have just disappeared from the future?? Only wolves can do that. Could the Volturi have found a different pack of wolves in Italy? Or worse, they've discovered some other creature that we haven't learned about! Or maybe they've found a vampire with a shield ability powerful enough to keep Alice out!" until one day while they're collectively doing nothing, Bella goes, "Wait, maybe they have Leah!"), but she won't have to do any "guard dog" stuff for them or act as their subordinate in any way.
He points out that she doesn't have anyone in her life to really miss, anyway; she isn't close to her family (in the books), or either pack, and certainly not the Cullens.
Despite all of this, she does proceed to tell him off until Aro goes ahead and has Alec cut off her senses. She phases, but she can't really do anything to fight except flail around at random, so Felix and someone else of equivalent size carry her to a nice room, and Alec accompanies them, and Marcus follows.
Of course, when she gets her senses back, she throws a fit, but she's locked in, at that point.
Marcus is notably undemanding; the first time he speaks to her directly, he clarifies that he isn't expecting anything from her, really. It's been so long since he's cared about anything, that just sitting vaguely in the same room as her while she doesn't look in his direction would still make his day. He has the energy of, like...the friend who is very high. Just silently vibing while she does her hobbies.
He never touches her even casually, and he almost wouldn't be able to handle it if he did; again, feeling any emotion at all is an experience he hasn't had in centuries. Even looking directly at her isn't something he can do for longer than a human can comfortably look straight at the sun. He revels in glances and watches her shadow, keeping her in his peripheral vision. Even when he isn't in her presence, he always stays in areas where he can hear her- which gives him a fairly large range of movement, and it wasn't like he was moving around much before. It's such a complicated feeling, because his fear of losing her like he lost Didyme does not allow him much by way of object permanence; he always has to be perceiving her in some way, or else he becomes severely anxious. Yet being too close to her overwhelms him with all of that pent up feeling.
His degree of honest adoration and reverence, combined with the total absence of entitlement, makes Leah willing to interact with him more or less normally. They get the best results when Marcus is several feet away (like, in the hallway outside her quarters), she's doing her own thing, he's watching her as much as he can emotionally bear to, and she speaks to him when she wants something ("Can somebody get me a Macbook?" "Marcus, I need a pencil sharpener."). That or he responds to some wordless need, like her stomach growling.
She makes some escape attempts, but she's caught and subdued easily, and Aro silkily points out that Demetri would just find her, even if she managed to leave. (Yeah, she curses him out some more for that one, but he's not wrong.) They make sure to keep her and Jane from crossing paths pretty much at all, because that can only go poorly.
Leah makes them pay reparations for kidnapping her by being high-maintenance. She will not wear or eat anything she doesn't love, she will change her mind over and over about how she wants to decorate her room. In a way, she's searching for a way to leave a dent in them, but they seem inexhaustibly rich and powerful. If there's a limit, she will find it. Marcus honestly eats it up; he adores her brash personality, and he enjoys being given clear instructions as to how to make her like him more.
She is not okay with the fact that he eats humans, so he stops doing it. It sucks, converting to an animal diet while surrounded by happy, well-fed people eaters, but he manages.
Aro and Caius are no help; they both amuse themselves by informing him of what he's missing.
Eventually, Marcus calls up Carlisle for tips on how to keep to his new diet, and Carlisle is just like "???"
"Marcus, I...didn't know you had a cell phone."
"Oh, dearest Leah insisted that I obtain one, so that she can send me links to things she finds in online catalogues."
"Leah?!" someone in the Cullen house exclaims.
"Hold on," Leah says, striding swiftly over to where Marcus is and taking the phone from him. "Tell me you bloodsuckers aren't just now figuring out that I'm here! Marc, dude, you good?" she adds, because Marcus has gone utterly still, his eyes wide, because her hand brushed against his when she took his phone and that was the first time they touched.

Saturday 23:41
Everyone was sitting around the table playing poker. Amber was still struggling a bit with the rules of the game but Luca helped her out… “So a flush is when…” Amber tried. “That’s when all cards have the same suit but they aren’t of sequential rank” Luca explained. “And when they are of sequential rank then it’s called a… straight flush?” Amber asked. “Yep” Luca confirmed.
Robbe was already out of the game. So, he sat behind Sander with his arms wrapped around his boyfriend. He placed a soft kiss on the top of Sander’s head. Feeling Sander’s hair tickle against his face he couldn’t restrain himself from running his hand through Sander’s hair. Sander looked so hot with his new haircut. Well… Robbe had loved every single hairstyle that Sander had gotten... He vividly remembered that November morning when he spotted a bleached blond stranger in the kitchen. He swore it was the most beautiful boy he had ever seen… The bleached hair gave him an aura of mystery… This was an enigma that Robbe wanted to solve… And the chaotic supermarket trip only made him more intrigued… Sander already owned Robbe’s heart in the first minutes after meeting…
Sander looked at his cards and he decided: all-in. “What the fock is he thinking?” Robbe taught noting that Sander only had a one pair. But he soon realized that it was Sander’s goal to lose and quit the game… The moment came to reveal the cards and Jens said confidently “full house” when revealing his. “You won” Sander remarked as he turned his around. “All in with a pair???” Aaron said in disbelief but also he understood the plan as he saw Sander getting up from the table.
“Would Mr. IJzermans want to join me for a walk?” Sander asked. Robbe smiled “Altijd”. “See you later” the group yelled as our two boys headed out. They walked away from the bungalow towards the dunes. This area was deserted at this time of the day. So, it was just them under the moonlight. “You look soooo amazing in the moonlight” Sander stated. “And not under other lighting?” Robbe faked annoyance. Sander snorted: “Baby you’re the most amazing person I know. In all universes. Under all kinds of lighting…”. Robbe smiled.
Robbe could see Sander’s sneaky smile on his face… “This isn’t just a walk… Is it?” Robbe checked. Sander snorted. How Robbe could read his mind like that. “It’s a long time ago…” Sander begged. “Hmmm, like yesterday…” Robbe giggled. “Oké… Oké…” Sander faked annoyance. Robbe grabbed him by the waist and pulled him in for a kiss. After their lips parted again Robbe whispered: “I didn’t say no”. Sander smiled brightly.
The two boys stripped off their clothing and ran into the sea. “Whooooo…” they yelled. The water was still cold but I guess that’s part of trying to replicate their first kiss… It was much colder then… November… When they got waist-deep into the water they stopped and turned towards each other. They looked into each other’s eyes and beamed. Robbe cupped Sander’s face as he moved closer and closer until their lips met… What started as soft kisses quickly escalated into a passionate full make out session that left both boys speechless.
“Dudes… What the fock!” Moyo exclaimed as the two boys walked back in completely wet. “Are you fine?” a concerned Zoë intervened but their smiles gave away that whatever happened it wasn’t something bad… “Just had a swim…” Robbe brushed the topic off. “You’re cold” Zoë stated as a matter of fact as she touched Robbe’s arm. Luca came over to help with a blanket but Sander stopped her. “We just need a warm shower” he said. At that Robbe didn’t waste any time and he grabbed Sander’s hand and pulled him to the bathroom. Sander quickly shrugged at the girls before disappearing with his boyfriend into the bathroom…

TO DO WELL THAT WHICH SHOULD NOT BE DONE AT ALL
by Réginald-Jérôme de Mans
For a surprisingly large set of men, particularly Frenchmen, who care about beautiful shoes, an artificial patina is, with apologies to Mr. Bungle, the sweetest taboo. Layers of shading and subtle hints of contrasting colors suggest decades of polish. That connotes not just history but heritage, so it is no accident that other writers have compared this effect to the depth of tone on a fine antique. And the process of creating such surface depth is indeed called antiquing. On a new shoe, it’s care unearned: the addition of dyes and polishes, often burnished in with a buffing wheel, confer the character of time without cracks or wrinkles. Those opposed to it argue that a shoe should age naturally, without such elaborate and exaggerated gimmicks.
One form of antiquing compounds the taboo to the irredeemable: the bleaching of darker leathers to approximate custom shoe samples slowly faded by wan English sunlight in London shop windows over a lifetime. One old English shoemaker is notorious for this, its samples head-turningly gorgeous, almost chameleon-toned from sun and polish. They’re so gorgeous that the maker came up with a way to replicate this sun-bleaching on new shoes. But creating this sort of patina new requires first stripping off the shoe’s polish and discoloring the leather with chemicals before reapplying dyes and polishes to attain an irregular, faded patina with hints of bone-white and fleeting, decadent tones.
Some shoemakers refuse to do this to their new shoes. The irrepressible Dimitri Gomez told me the process burns the leather and compromises its integrity.  Why take years off of the life of a shoe? I filed his advice away, far away, as I proceeded with an experiment: antiquing and polishing new black shoes so that their very fading and bleaching could be mistaken for the gleam of a mirror-polished shine.  With the addition of flat black ribbon laces, these would take the place of the usual patent leather or black plain toe oxfords to wear with black tie, although in truth I had very little call to wear a tuxedo anyway even before this spring. But fantasy, not utility, the pleasure of an indulgent experiment, is the motivating force of dandyism.
Exploring a fantasy can help dispel the mythology that has crept up around all aspects of #steez, particularly in shoemaking. Patination and antiquing can be done to any decent properly tanned leather, not just the proprietary leather certain shoe brands boast of using. Nor does it take secret specialist unguents to recolor the leather – waxes and polishes are fine, although some companies also sell dyes you can use. Along with the original foolhardiness that spurred me to do this, bleaching does take, though, time and caution.
Acetone and bleach were my extremely suspect friends, used sequentially and never together. Acetone is a powerful solvent, as well as a carcinogen, and as such I worked in a well-ventilated place, with latex gloves, and masks that I then put away until some months ago. It took some effort for the acetone to begin removing the original flat black color of the shoes. Once it had done so, and after letting the shoes rest, I again masked up and used the bleach to further lighten the shoes. After stripping most of the color from the toe, instep and rear quarters, I began to reapply polish and wax in many, many coats. Mostly black, I also added hints of green and purple. Gradually they went from the creepy bone-and-black of a Dead Can Dance album cover to dark with hints of light, polished and burnished first with cloths, then a buffing mitt, then a piece of silk (that or nylon can bring out extra shine in shoes, according to a shoemaker I once used).
After that expenditure of time and effort, I couldn’t help but find the results, as they emerged, rewarding.  Today they rest on display on an old trunk in my study, taking in some extra sun for some natural fading and patina. They rest, like other pieces of former self, since I haven’t worn them or any other shoes but sneakers, since confinement began. Are they even hopes for a return to more resplendent occasions? We now live with daily reminders that simplicity, the absence of all the draining time and effort that needs to be put into tasks like patination, is the greatest luxury. For now they are sublime and strange artifacts, as if that former self were even a different species from today’s polo-clad, homebound drudge, acutely aware that subsistence and survival are today’s luxuries comparable to the whimsical tuxedo shoes of yesteryear.

Emiliano Mateo Gabriel Davison, Human Exchange Student
The demon lord's castle is just as grand as Emil remembers it being. The exchange students had been walked through the halls of the grand estate as part of their orientation, and with that tour came the promise that they would receive invitations to important cultural events that would occur throughout the year. None of those had happened, as of yet, so as Emil lays his eyes on the intensely golden decor for the second time, he cannot help but imagine the ballroom full of life. Daydreaming was the stuff of creativity, after all.
