Remember that one scene in the 1996 blockbuster tornado-chasing Hollywood action film “Twister” where meteorologists Bill Paxton and Helen Hunt fail to release the Dorothy tornado sensors and they have a ridiculous relationship argument while the sensor modules scatter-about everywhere amidst the atmospheric chaos? They filmed that right here, on 130th Street near Pilot Mound - just past the Des Moines River. Folks call it “Twister Hill” or “Hail Hill” now and official signs aid in pointing out this small Iowa town’s cinematic claim-to-fame. La nueva temporada no defrauda, de hecho te abre las preguntas de rigor cuando el festejo navideño de la Agence Grateau se produce en una pista artificial de patinaje sobre hielo en un rincón lujoso secreto y exclusivo de toldos rojos. ¿Es que dónde se guarda ese misterio? Nada menos que en el corazón del Hôtel Plaza Athénée en la prestigiosa avenida Montaigne, el bulevar arbolado de la moda francesa, la llamada dirección de la alta costura de la ciudad.

Pero el camino de esta temporada se entreteje también con locaciones fuera de París. Una visita a la casa de Monet y sus estanque de Nenúfares, un paseo en la nieve por Megève, un lujoso pueblo de montaña en Alta Saboya, y la gran sorpresa: Italia, que emerge, sobre todo en la segunda mitad de esta nueva parte de la saga. SET JET: FILMING LOCATION FOR “WHITE PALACE” (1990) - St. Louis, Missouri. The White Knight Diner on 18th and Olive Streets, near downtown St. Louis, was a key filming location for the 1990 Universal Pictures film “White Palace.” Set in St. Louis, and based upon native Glenn Savan’s 1987 novel, “White Palace” is an erotic romance about a pair of star-crossed lovers from different worlds: Max Baron (James Spader) is a reserved, twenty-something wealthy ad-exec in a relationship with wild, middle-aged fast food waitress Nora Baker (Susan Sarandon). They meet at a local “White Palace” burger joint where Nora works and soon begin a tumultuous affair, of which no one approves. The restaurant is called “White Palace” and is intended to represent a White Castle restaurant, but the restaurant chain did not give permission to use the name for the book or film despite White Castle being a very St. Louis thing. So, “White Palace” instead. Most of the film was shot in and around St. Louis - especially the Dogtown neighborhood. As a native St. Louisan living on the south side in the 80s, I remember visiting this set on a few occasions during production. The diner that opened up here after production ended wanted to keep the “White Palace” name, but this was shot down - White Knight was chosen instead and it has been since.
