Hey! So, I just binge-read Nefelibata and I just needed to tell you how much I enjoyed it, the tension between Naru and Mai, how much Mai has grown, Lin’s entire existence, how you built up the case, just everything, everything, everything.

I truly understand how much college cuts down your time and that sometimes you just can’t make yourself write an specific piece, but if you ever do continue it, I’d love to read it and I guarantee you that I’ll be one of the first ones hyping you up.

A million years later, but this was an amazing ask to discover when dusting off this box and realising i missed so many things coming in (which i'm so sorry for😭)

This was so sweet, and I'm so so happy to hear how much you enjoyed that fic of mine that I started on a whim. 3 years later and my university/work/life balance is improving slowly and I'm writing more and more, and finally finishing that fic is on the cards, so I hope you'll enjoy it when that does eventually happen! Your support means the world to me, seriously, and hopefully by the years end, you'll get to see the conclusion to that fic at last. I'm estimating 2 more chapters for the finish, but we'll see how we go.

Last Show: I'm currently on a YouTube binge so it's been a few weeks, so probably By the Grace of the Gods. The second season of one of my favourite chillout isekais was well worth the hours.

Last Film: I don't really like movies, but I saw Puss in Boots: The Last Wish in cinemas months back and that was actually super good. And I've been looking forward to Psychopass Providence when I can get my hands on it.

Current Show: Nothing! I tend to binge things in one hit or not at all. Soon it'll be my Dr Stone rewatch though where I'll get to finally see the latest season.

Reading: Sing Me Forgotten by Jessica S Olson, which is an actual novel instead of fic for a change.

Current Obsession: I'm currently fixated on the game Recettear Item Shop, and also with building a Nooks Cranny model, and a Hollow Knight figure out of clay as gifts for my sister.

want you to now I just reread tcol for the first time this year--and I often think about Mai's: She could do this She would do this She would be fine She could not do this She would not do this She would not be fine at least once a week because if that isn't the Im in my mid-20s mood. was is life/school inspired?

Ajdheyeh "first time this year" implies several other rereading occassions and idk what to do with this information, but I'm very glad to have it! Thank you so much for enjoying my disaster fic!

That scene was absolutely inspired by real life though given my manic writing style when I wrote most of TCOL, I doubt I was thinking about it overly much when I wrote it. As an inherently anxious person, that is often how my mind works in any new situation (long before my 20s but being in my 20s now, I very much agree) and when I was writing Mai, I kind of just threw all that anxiety at her because it made sense for her situation.

In short, absolutely. That fic will be finished, hopefully by the end of year but otherwise at some point. It's not being abandoned.

I hope you’re doing well and being safe. Are you still updating your stories on ff and ao3? If so please update soon! I’m dying for an update 🥺

I very much still active on AO3, but no longer on ff.net. I'm not going to remove what over there, but I have no intentions of updating any of my current fics that are over there any more. I just personally find that it's easier for me to stick to one place for updating, and AO3 is a much better website to work with for both reading and posting fic, imo.

If it's a story you're waiting on update on, then I'm guessing it's either The Cases of London or Nefelibata because those are the only ongoing fics I've committed to, in which case I actually updated TCOL earlier this year, and I do plan to update it again when I have time, and Nefelibata is also on the cards for sometime in the future ^^

Are you still updating Nefelibata on ao3 or is in hiatus/permanent hiatus. I wanted you to know I love the story and I hope you continue. I’m looking forward to Naru’s reaction to Mai not waking up.

Firstly, I'm very very sorry for never realising this was sitting here waiting for a response, and I have no idea how long ago this came in, so you likely might not even care about the answer at this point BUT i'm going to give one anyway.

Nefelibata was never put on an official hiatus but it has ended up that way. It's not permanent though! I will be coming back to it! The entire fic actually only has a good 2 chapters (relative to the chapter lengths of Nefel. which admittedly means another 14-16k ^^;) before it's completed. It is on my "Writing Bingo" card for this year, so I'm hoping to actually finish it out by then, but I'm not making promises because those always come back to haunt me. That being said, I hope you enjoy it when I do post the final chapters, and thank you do much for loving this story for so long!

Since the new year finished up and I saw @ncisduckie doing this, I figure I might as well wrap up last year.

What I Worked On:

This year is a weird year for writing for me. A lot of what I wrote was for my writing course or my English course for university, however in the earlier months of the year before we started really living in a completely dystopian universe, I wrote a few fanfiction pieces for a couple of fandoms. Some of which is unpublished either because I have no desire to share it or because it’s still a WIP.

Total Word Count: ~80k across everything

Ghost Hunt, D.Gray-man and some OG stuff. And technically speaking I wrote fic for a book called “A Tale for the Time Being” for my lit. course.

Looking back, did you write more than you thought this year, less, or about what you’d expected?

So so so much less. But between university, life drama, and the pandemic this year, I’m not going to beat myself up over it and I’ll just give it another shot this year.

What’s your favorite thing you worked on this year?

Probably the piece I started for Baillie’s birthday, a fic that’s still in progress and much longer than it should be. Otherwise, I really loved “The Hallway”, though I need to work on it a lot more, or perhaps “The Bunny”, my final written piece for my creative writing course in the earlier semester. I also really loved the first thing I wrote for my creative writing course.

Did you take any writing risks this year?

Hmmm, I suppose any writing I did that was original was a risk of a kind, especially The Hallway. Otherwise, “You Had Better” was a very different style of writing to what I usually do, so I would consider it a risk.

Do you have any writing goals for the new year?

I just want to write more. I want to try and complete some short stories that aren’t for university. I just want to focus on my writing in general in a non-fanfiction specific realm. In terms of fanfiction, I really want to finish off Nefelibata officially, and I also want to get at least a few more chapters of TCOL published this year.

Most popular story of the year?

“The Cases of London” (TCOL) is by far my most popular fic, as expected given the length and what-not. Otherwise, “Peaked Interest” according to AO3 which is... somewhat shocking to me.

Most under-appreciated story of the year?

"The Hallway” got mixed feedback so for OG writing, I would say that. For fic, it’s “The Complications of Love” which makes sense because it’s a very specific style of fic and it’s not something I ever wrote for people to enjoy so much as something I wrote for myself.

Most fun story to write:

Hmmm... I think I had the most fun working on You Had Better. It was just different and new.

Most unintentionally telling story:

Either the Complications of love or My Stranger, i guess?

Biggest Disappointment:

Not writing as much as I wanted to this year, and not doing as well as I would’ve liked for my writing course in general.

Okay but this? This is how I’ve always lived. I walk around in dresses that people consider “clubbing” clothes just as much as I look like I’m about to got to an art gallery and you know why? Because if you actually dress up for yourself - to feel cute - then why do you need to go anywhere? And right now, I think a lot of people need to feel cute. So ask yourself this and don’t limit yourself to jeans or to sweat pants. Have fun with your trip out of your room and wear what you want - no matter where society tells you you should be going in it.

It’s been a long day and I’m both very exhausted and full of manic energy. This... may pose a problem.

As of today I have turned in my uniforms and quit the job I’ve held for nearly 5 years at KFC, in turn freeing myself from the anxiety it used to give me as well as giving myself a proper chance to focus on my studies over the next few years. We also did some quick shopping and I cleaned my room to give myself an almost spotless work space to motivate me to get things done which is even better.

The first day of school is tomorrow and I need to be up at 6am to catch the 6.35am bus into the uni so hopefully this manic energy disappears soon enough so that I can actually get some decent rest. I’m currently painting my nails, ready for tomorrow, and then I’m going to do the final edits for tcol-30 before posting that tonight - I know, me? Posting an actual chapter? But it’s time I started throwing them out there. Aiming for fortnightly updates which should give me enough freedom to work on everything else without stress and keep ahead so fingers crossed for that!

So i’m listening to as song called Demons by Omri and I just

These could be very deep lyrics but my ghost hunt obsessed dumb brain literally just went: What if Mai was being haunted by a demon but somehow befriended them and they’re literally her moral compass and teacher in most things?

Imagine her meeting the spr crew and them being all “what the hell, exorcise it!!” and her being “wha- that’s my friend!” cue madness.
