Phyllida Barlow gave this year’s Shenkman Lecture. I’ve been interested in her work for 5 years or so. The talk was frustrating — she showed many over-view images of her work, but didn’t really reveal much. If you’re not going into big ideas, then get physical: show us studio shots, multiple views, how these pieces affect the viewer in time and place. I’m still intrigued. I’d love to know what other people thought.
