so... some people on tiktok have been making sibling swap stuff, except a lot of them feel like either color palette swaps/miss the entire points of these characters so I decided to make my own because I was being autistic about it. so now I have an entire au :3c

I don't want to take attention from the very good additions to the original post, but I also wanna point something else out, design-wise:

Notice how the use of lighting and color relegates Laura, the dark-skinned Black woman, into the background? How you can barely see her in comparison to the well lit, pale Olympia whose beauty is centered in this image, even by the barely visible gaze of Laura, forced to serve her? How even her pale pink clothing is highlighted but her identity is not?

That's how it looks to us when you don't light and color your Black characters properly in your pieces. To your Black viewers, it doesn't look like "it's just the lighting" (clearly it isn't). You're not only saying "see how I'm trying to emphasize the beauty of the female body!" It looks like "I don't think Blackness is worth seeing in comparison to the rest of this image". Manet's beliefs reflected through the piece; he showed exactly how he felt not just about Olympia, but about Laura too. Just something to consider 👀🙌🏾
