So I've lived in Arizona almost my entire life, and when I recently started playing Pokemon Scarlet and I ran across Bramblin I really wanted to add it to my team. I hadn't seen this pokemon before running into myself, so I had no idea that there was a tumbleweed pokemon, but I loved it immediately. But, my party already had both a grass type and a ghost type, so I didn't add Bramblin.

Then, I'm going along, trying to just get from one place to another quickly, avoiding encounters entirely. But I fail to see a Bramblin in my path and start a battle. I run, but there's another Bramblin right where I end up after running from the first battle. I'm about to run again when I see it. Sparkles.

I ran into a full odds shiny Bramblin while trying not to get into a fight at all. And I have a policy that if I happen to find a shiny, it goes into my party immediately, regardless of all else.

It's like the universe knew I wanted Bramblin and it gave me an excuse to use one.

Also, I don't normally nickname my pokemon, but I nickname shinies. So this pokemon tumbles. It's a tumbler. And it's a ghost, which some people say don't really exist. So I named her Katya, after the Goncharov character.

Chloenette besties AU.

The girls are attached at the hip. If you see one the other isn't far behind. Everyone questions the dynamic because while Chloé isn't as bad as even season 1 canon she's not the best while Mari is still sunshine. At least until someone, Lila or whoever, acts a fool and is mercilessly torn apart. Their families are used to their shenanigans, especially Chloé with money spending for Mars Bars. (Side note in the dream they were Batman movie fans and would rush to see one even if it meant missing a Shiny Pokemon. Oh overworld Pokemon were a thing and they ran past Shiny Bramblin/Brambleghast).

Sorcer-Anne AU

Anne Boonchuy has magic. Whether she had it before Amphibia is unclear but if she did the Calamity powers made it stronger. Any spell she casts takes a toll on her energy and if she goes too far too quickly her body starts to fall apart until she rests. She has to learn the whole great power great responsibility thing and how her actions affect those close to her more than herself. (Sidenote in the nightmare Amphibia had a Halloween holiday other than the Shut In where the dead casually come to life. Anne was being a menace like her season 1 self without thinking about it and a creature called Moldy Frog came to turn everyone into zombies and since she wasted her spells she wasn't as useful as she could have been)

Bad news, a bramblin outbreak hit our town. Good news, I now have a shiny bramblin. Have you ever had to deal with a bramblin outbreak?

bramblin don't really show up in my part of paldea- they're further north, or out west in the asado desert. every once in a while we'll get the odd bramblin that gets caught in a strong wind and can't make its way back, but it's a pretty good distance for them.

one of the few times it's happened, we had the misfortune of not being able to round it up before it fell in the public pool...that was not a fun day for anyone. bramblin dislike water, and it threw the most intense temper tantrum i've ever seen from a sentient ball of grass. the screams were something else.

The Crew of Light get turned into Pokémon

Mina - Eevee. Gets mistaken for a shiny due to how pale her fur is, but it's the sickness brought on by Dracula's infection. Evolves into a Sylveon during the final confrontation due to her friendship with the rest of the crew of light to deliver an epic beatdown on Dracula's dark/dragon ass.

Jonathan - Absol. Would that he had the ability to sense disasters earlier. At least he's good at tracking the fiend now. Stabbing with his horn takes some getting used to (Note: With the proper materials Mina could absolutely mega evolve him) (Second note: I did not notice the pun in absolutely, till I wrote it, but I 100% would have done it on purpose)

Quincy - Bramblin. Very concerned about his lack of arms and legs. Feels a lot better about it once he realizes Bullet Seed means he has unlimited ammo. Usually hitches a ride on one of the others since getting blown about the wind rarely gets you in the right direction.

Arthur - Yamper. At least if he's some sort of magical dog he's at least a properly British magical dog. The lightning is a nice touch as well. A mite embarrassed about his tendency to chase after anything ball-like though.

Jack - Beldum. He could think of so many ways his new psychic powers would be useful to his field of study is he wasn't freaking out so badly over everything. Feels mildly better when he evilves and has arms again, but not by much.

Van Helsing - Drampa. Very much amused at the irony that he was turned into a dragon to fight the son of the dragon. His protectiveness over his team as increased as he wonders if he sees them as his hoard. (He doesn't, he sees them as children and Drampa are stalwart defenders of children)

Bonus:

Lucy - Misdreavus. She just wanted to keep watch over her dear friends and she doesn't know why she's the whispy creature now, but at least they can see her and she can be with them once again
