At that time Sicily was a bridge to Greece that united it with the rich Carthage so much that some myths, like that of Hercules, seems to have passed from one side of the Mediterranean to the other through Sicily. VISITANDO LA SICILIA – Se tu noti, ho chiamato le città dove vi sono i monumenti degli antichi greci con il loro nome greco, mentre del teatro greco di Siracusa ho messo una foto con gli spettatori che seguono le tragedie greche che li si rappresentano ogni anno. Il motivo è che per noi siciliani i greci che arrivarono a Giardini-Naxos nel 734 a.c. non sono un ricordo passato e lontano, fanno ancora parte del nostro presente. Per questo gli antichi monumenti, anche se non sono sfruttati come dovrebbero dall’industria del turismo, sono ancora adesso una nostra realtà. Alcuni antichi templi sono diventati chiese, e nel mare che circonda la Sicilia ancora si trovano resti di antiche navi greche che portavano dalla loro patria statue antiche e preziose insieme a olio e vino. Camminare a Siracusa è come essere nella antica città con i suoi templi, il teatro, ed il castello del tiranno, Agrigento ha più templi di Atene; i ruderi greci ti ridanno tutto il loro fascino e la loro bellezza a Morgantina come a Tindari dove vi sono musei in cui sono custodite opere bellissime, provenienti direttamente dalla Grecia o prodotti localmente dai maestri locali. A quel tempo la Sicilia fu un ponte per la Grecia che la univa con la ricca Cartagine tanto che alcuni miti, come quello di Ercole, sembra sia passato da una parte all’altra del mediterraneo attraverso la Sicilia. Non ti sorprenda quindi che Ulisse abbia pellegrinato così a lungo nel suo nel suo viaggio spendendo buona parte dei suoi anni proprio in Sicilia. Anche allora in Sicilia, nessuno era uno straniero. Sopra puoi vedere l’elenco delle città dove potrai visitare i templi ed i ruderi dell’antica Grecia, il nome accanto alla città è quello che aveva al tempo dei greci
