“Where’s Cookie?”

“At the elementary school.”

“And Guy?”

“He ‘didn’t feel well’. Bullshit. He’s still mad at me cause I made him miss the winning touchdown on TV!”

“Maybe that’s why he ‘doesn’t feel well’, y’know.”

“I bet he’s gonna get jinxed and I’ll have to deal with the angst.” Schmitty sighed.

“Meh, I’ve seen worse things happen.” Redacted said. “Have you two talked recently? More than just the usual.”

“Yeah. Not much, just about the plans to take the kid. But he’s still frustrated so I’ve been giving him his space.” 

“I’d be too if someone poured bleach on the bodies I robbed.”

“Okay…by that logic, it coulda been on the beach.”

“Welp, you guys wanna go to the beach today?” Booloo wondered. “Kandi’s still gone…I hope she’s okay-”

Kandi nodded. “Let’s just say I never expected to pull a turkey out of someone’s butt.”

“Awwww, sweetie.” Booloo hugged her. “I had anxiety dreams, you had to deal with someone being frisky with a turkey. It’s gonna be okay…”

“So…I heard there was a jinx in the polycule’s beach house.” Kandi tried to switch topics.

“Yeah…and I still feel bad for both of them..”

“So, I see most of you pups slept in until 12.” Galena sounded semi-disappointed and semi-impressed.

“You’re the exception, cuz.” Buzz rolled his eyes.

“So! Tell me, any interesting dreams?”

Avery blew a raspberry.

“Nada.” Cookie gave a thumbs down.

“Zilch.” Bob shook his head.

“I cannot dream.” Roxanne said. “But I had no flashbacks of past trauma.”

“I’ll take that as a win. Who wants a Galcake?”

“Galcake?” “It’s like a pancake but I use…whatever I find on clearance at Walmart.”

“Oooooooooh.”

“As long as nothing in the batter is raw, I’ll take one.” Avery said.

“Okay then. I cooked bacon ahead of time, and there were some strawberries. Booloo, do you want it plain? I read somewhere about crossing-foods and autism.”

“Yeah, that’ll be great. Either those heavily processed coated-in-red-goo strawberries and whipped cream, or plain syrup for me, that’s my preference.”

Booloo laughed. Did Avery really just curse out a SPEEDBUMP?!

“Okay, to the break-” began Avery-

“-room…uh, Mick’s here. Quickly, act as casual as you can get.”

“It’s too late for casual.” sighed Schmitty.

“GRANDPA MICK!” Rad ran up to him.

“EY, kiddo! I want you to meet someone!” Mick motioned to a blond-haired, small, apple-shaped woman, who was nervously fixing her t-shirt.

“Ooooooooooooh. Is that a friend?”

“More than a friend.” The girl beamed, showing her ring. 

“Hang on a minute, dad.” Aianna called out. “We’re dealing with something.”

“Is it a jinx?” asked Mick.

“...no…” Aianna paused. “But I’m listening. So is Bobby-kun.”

“All ears.” Bob pulled out a fake ear from behind his back.

“...My name is Amara. Amara Moon. But soon, I’ll be Amara Amekawa.” The lady smiled softly.

Aianna and Bob were SOOOOOOOOOO tempted to squeal.

But with what just happened…best to keep the noise down.

Mick nodded. “Can confirm. We’ve been hitting it off since I rescued Miyuki.”

“I was expecting a grand reaction.” Amara joked. “Especially since I learnt that you’re quite animated, Bob.”

“Due to circumstances beyond my control, noise levels are to be kept down unless there’s an emergency.”

“Yeah, they got their mom’s looks.” Ryker ruffled Avery’s hair.

Buzz rolled his eyes from the doorway.

That soothed Skye back to tranquility, to Buzz’s shock. “How did he do that?” he asked Kandi as Nate kept singing.

“I think they recognized Nate’s singing from when they were in the womb.” Kandi explained. “Hard to believe we’re aunts to twins…”

Booloo nodded. “But they’re cute little jelly beans, so it’s worth it.”
