Fruits Basket 2019 ( ep,9)

so episode 9 is such a fun episode. here are the highlights.

-the humor: amazing. the fight scenes are hilarious & hatsuharu’s two personalities make for epic funny lines. the brash, rude dark haru versus the very calm & deep light haru. Hana’s scenes, the gym teacher & dog guy shugure. i enjoyed it so much. I like haru.

- tohru: tohru is such a mom. lol. the way she worried about yuki, checking for fever, reminding him to not overdo it. only her cute pigtails remind me she’s his classmate. XD

- kyo: is actually strong!. he got extra mad when dark haru was talking dirty about tohru.is that the beginning of crush? XD.

-yuki: so yuki seemed to be suffering from PTSD? he remembered his past & then got an asthma attack right away. What happened exactly? who traumatized him & why? sohma family dark secrets. But I’m glad yuki wasn’t’ alone cuz it seemed haru cared for him. Child haru realized his hate for yuki wasnt justified & stopped, I’m sure he then kept him company cuz he seemed to be worried genuinely about him. so, i feel happy that yuki wasnt completely alone.

-sohma kun versus kyo kun: I started watching fruits basket dubbed. but by episode 02, I was annoyed that tohru kept calling yuki (sohma). it is weird to call someone by their family name while living with two others who share the same family name. so, i checked the sub version & i understood right away. yuki is soma-kun which is a formal & respectful way to call someone in japan. that’s why tohru is honda-san to yuki, even more formal!! in English (miss honda) is fine but soma felt weird & i guess Mr.soma would be weirder. XD. it is one of the things that get lost in translation sometimes. So, haru encourages tohru to drop the family name & call yuki informally as yuki-kun. Yuki wasn't expecting this at all becuz it is must have been months since they started living in the house. When will yuki drop the very formal (honda san/ miss honda)? I guess this must have significance in their relationship as we can see emphasis is put in the dubbed version regardless of the awkward (sohma).

On the contrary, In ep, 02, kyo asked tohru to stop calling him kyo-san & drop the formal (san), so she called him informally as kyo-kun. This was their first interaction alone from shigure & yuki & right away, it is informal.i guess it is been two day living together or less.  but...what does kyo call her?? I was curious & had to return & skim through ep 1 to 9 & he never call her anything!..I checked both dub & sub.. weird..even weirder than yuki’s honda-san...when kyo talks about her..it’s she..that girl..in both subbed & dubbed version..Oh!!! does this mean that kyo calling her by her name would carry significance like yuki?.. i sure wasn’t expecting to think about names watching ep 9! lol
