Ivan and Phoebe by Oksana Lutsyshyna
Ivan and Phoebe is a novel about a revolution of consciousness triggered by very different events, both global and personal. This is a book about the choices we make, even if we decide to just go with the flow of life. It is about cruelty, guilt, love, passion – about many things, and most importantly, about Ukraine of the recent past, despite or because of which it has become what it is today.
The story told in Oksana Lutsyshyna’s novel Ivan and Phoebe is set during a critical period – the 1990s. In the three decades that have passed since gaining independence, Ukraine has experienced many socio-political, economic, and cultural changes that have yet to be fully expressed. The Revolution of Dignity in 2014 marked a pivotal moment in the country’s history, as it signaled a shift towards European integration and a strong desire to distance itself from Moscow. Prior to this, Ukrainian culture had remained overshadowed by Russian influence, struggled to compete for an audience and was consequently constrained in exploring vital issues.
77 days of February. Living and dying in Ukraine
"77 Days," is a compelling anthology by contributors to Reporters, a Ukrainian platform for longform journalism. The book, published in English as both an e-book and an audiobook by Scribe Originals.
"77 Days'' offers a tapestry of styles and experiences from over a dozen contributors, making it a complex work to define. It includes narratives about those who stayed put as the Russians advanced, and the horror they encountered, like Zoya Kramchenko’s defiant "Kherson is Ukraine," Vira Kuryko’s somber "Ten Days in Chernihiv," and Inna Adruh’s wry "I Can’t Leave – I’ve Got Twenty Cats." The collection also explores the ordeal of fleeing, as in Kateryna Babkina’s stark "Surviving Teleportation '' and "There Were Four People There. Only the Mother Survived."
It also highlights tales of Ukrainians who created safe havens amidst the turmoil, such as Olga Omelyanchuk’s "Hippo and the Team," about zookeepers safeguarding animals in an occupied private zoo near Kyiv, and one of Paplauskaite’s three pieces, "Les Kurbas Theater Military Hostel," depicting an historic Lviv theater turned shelter for the displaced, including the writer/editor herself.
In the Eye of the Storm. Modernism in Ukraine 1900’s – 1930’s
This book was inspired by the exhibition of the same name that took place in Madrid, at the Museo Nacional Thyssen-Bornemisza, and is currently at the Museum Ludwig, located in Cologne, Germany.
Rather than being a traditional catalogue, the publishers and authors took a more ambitious approach. Rather than merely publishing several texts and works from the exhibition, they choose to showcase the history of the Ukrainian avant-garde in its entirety – from the first avant-garde exhibition in Kyiv to the eventual destruction of works and their relegation to the "special funds" of museums, where they were hidden from public view.
These texts explain Ukrainian context to those who may have just learned about the distinction between Ukrainian and Russian art. Those "similarities" are also a product of colonization. It was achieved not only through the physical elimination of artists or Russification – artists were also often forced to emigrate abroad for political or personal reasons. Under the totalitarian regime, discussing or remembering these artists was forbidden. Archives and cultural property were also destroyed or taken to Russia.
"The Yellow Butterfly" by Oleksandr Shatokhin
"The Yellow Butterfly" is poised to become another prominent Ukrainian book on the themes of war and hope. It has been listed among the top 100 best picture books of 2023, according to the international art platform dPICTUS.
The book was crafted amidst the ongoing invasion. Oleksandr and his family witnessed columns of occupiers, destroyed buildings, and charred civilian cars. Shatokhin describes the book’s creation as a form of therapy, a way to cope with the horrors. "During this time my vision became clearer about what I wanted to create – a silent book about hope, victory, the transition from darkness to light, something symbolic," he explains.
Although "The Yellow Butterfly" is a wordless book, today its message resonates with readers across the globe.
A Crash Course in Molotov Cocktails by Halyna Kruk
A Crash Course in Molotov Cocktails is a bilingual poetry book (Ukrainian and English) about war, written between 2013 and 2022, based on Halyna’s experience as an author, volunteer, wife of a military man and witness to conflict.
The Ukrainian-speaking audience is well-acquainted with Halyna Kruk – a poet, prose author and literature historian. Kruk is increasingly active on the international stage, with her poetry featured in numerous anthologies across various languages, including Italian, French, Swedish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish, Polish, English, German, Lithuanian, Georgian and Vietnamese.
For an English-speaking audience, her poetry unveils a realm of intense and delicate experiences, both in the midst of disaster and in the anticipation of it. The poems are succinct, direct, and highly specific, often depicting real-life events and individuals engaged in combat, mourning, and upholding their right to freedom.

Pick Your Battles XII
Pairing: Reader x Bradley Bradshaw
Warnings: None
Summary: Bradley broke your heart when he accused you of betraying him, and you haven’t seen or spoken to him since. Until you are both called back to Top Gun to help with a dangerous mission that nobody’s ever attempted before
I do not own any rights to the characters or movie this is just purely for reading entertainment. Hearts, reblogs, and comments are encouraged and appreciated! If you wish to be added to the tag list please let me know! Thank you so much guys and enjoy! XOXO
Part 11
Check out my other works on my Hall Of Hunks
The next day literally dragged on for what felt like days. Both Jake and Bradley constantly looking over at you, but neither one of them saying a word. Of course you didn’t give neither of them so much as a smile.
It wasn’t a good day of training either. Nobody was communicating with each other, and they weren’t acting like a team. Maverick and Admiral Simpson were both disappointed and frustrated. The mission was only a couple weeks away, and everyone still wasn’t learning.
Admiral Simpson was also getting on you about choosing a team leader for this mission. He suggested Jake, but you argued that he would get his entire team killed if he led the mission. It was like you were stuck between a rock and a hard place.
Today though you were completely distracted, and your head was in the clouds. Right now you couldn’t think or make any type of decision. You felt like you needed to escape from here.
Ever since that night going on your somewhat date with Jake, and running into Bradley. Only to hear the truth, and both men wanting you to choose them. It was hard and that’s why you decided to go home alone. Bradley being kind enough to drive you home.
You didn’t kiss you didn’t hug. You just said your goodbyes, and laid in bed until it was time to get up. Mind going crazy over everything that’s been happening, and wondering what you should do.
Standing next to Maverick as you watched the pilots strolling in to take their seats. Pete asking you if you were okay, and of course you lied not wanting to burn his ears off with everything that’s been going on.
Admiral Simpson and Solomon walked in with Simpson taking a seat in the back, and Solomon walking up to the podium with a stoic look on his face.
“Good morning pilots.” Warlock greeted everyone. “The mission will be operational earlier than expected. The new shipment will be delivered within about ten days time. As a result your mission has been moved up one week.”
Everyone including Maverick looked nervous hearing this news. It was unexpected and quite honestly terrified the pilots.
“But sir nobody has successfully flown a low level course.” Coyote spoke.
“You’ve been ordered to move on.” He responded complete silence filling the room.
Looking across the room you saw that Bradley was already staring at you. You could tell by the look on his face that he was worried. Instinctively you cracked a smile for him in reassurance. He mimicked you as you turned away to look back at Warlock.
“Captain.” He signaled to Maverick who now stood in his place placing his hands on the podium.
“We have one week left to focus on the most dangerous part of the mission. It’s a pop up strike with a steep dive requiring nothing less than two miracles.” A heavy sigh leaving your lips. “We need to focus on this mission, and you need to listen to every instruction that is given to you.”
Maverick looked to you to speak now making you step forward clearing your throat. Your mouth so dry it was like the Sahara desert.
“Two pairs of F-18s will fly in a welded wing formation.” All eyes now focused on you. “Team work. Precise coordination of these aircraft are essential to this missions success and your survival.”
“As you have read this plant rests between two mountains.” Pointing to the screen behind you showing a simulation of what it’s going to look like. “On the final approach you’ll invert directly into a steep dive. This allows you to maintain the lowest possible altitude, and the only possible attack angle.”
Looking at the pilots expression you could see them all twitching and fidgeting in their seats. They tried to put on brave faces, but you saw the fear behind their eyes.
“Your target is an impact point less than three meters wide. The two seat aircraft will paint the target with a laser bulls eyes. The first pair will breach the reactor by dropping a laser guided bomb on an exposed ventilation hatch. This will create an opening for the second pair.”
“That’s miracle number one.” Maverick interrupted before you could say anything more.
Some shook their heads in disbelief, and others looked around at the other pilots making sure they heard all this correctly. It sounded easier than it was going to be.
“The second team will deliver a kill shot and destroy the target.” You finished as Bradley gave you a encouraging smile.
“That’s miracle number two.” Maverick raised two fingers this time. “If either team misses the target.”
Looking over at Maverick who had a very serious expression.
“The mission is a failure.” Bowing your head down to the thought of them failing or losing their lives because of this mission.
“The mountain is a very steep high- G climb out to avoid hitting this mountain.”
“A steep climb at that speed your pulling at least 8 G’s.” Jake spoke up saying what everyone else was thinking.
“9 minimum.” Maverick responded.
“Has anyone actually ever achieved that?” Jake sounded skeptical.
“I did.” Maverick sounded proud of his achievement.
You remember that day very clearly too. Maverick pushed 10 G’s, and pissed off almost every Admiral that was watching. Laughing to yourself as the cursed mutters in the room, while some of them were chuckling at Mavericks bold action.
“To survive this mission you will pull beyond that. Even if it means bending your air frame.”
Looking over to see Admiral Simpson closing his eyes, and shaking his head at Mavericks words. You knew Simpson wanted this mission to be as clean as possible, but with Mavericks reputation you knew he’d tell them to push their limits.
“You’ll be pulling so hard you’ll weigh close to two thousand pounds. Your skull crushing your spine. Your lungs imploding like an elephant is sitting on your chest. Fighting with everything you have just to keep from blacking out.”
You could feel a lump forming in your throat at the thought of Bradley struggling in the jet. Imaging the worst case scenario. The last thing you would want is for that to happen to him, and Bradley loses control and crashes.
“And this is where you’ll be at your most vulnerable. This is what we’re calling coffin corner.” Bob looked like he was either going to throw up or pass out.
“Assuming you avoid crashing into this mountain you’ll climb straight up into enemy radar while losing all of your air speed.” Everyone now focused on the screen as they showed another video demonstration.
“Within seconds you will be fired upon by enemy SAM’s.” Those were powerful missiles and everyone else knew that too.
This was a mission that couldn’t go wrong. They don’t want to fail, but they also didn’t want to lose any pilots. That’s why they wanted the best of the best. Pilots that they felt could achieve this and survive.
“This is gonna take you and your aircraft to its breaking point.” Mavericks tone was almost like a warning.
“Sir is this even possible?” Natasha spoke up this time.
“The answer to that will be up to the pilot in the box.”
Maverick was speaking to everyone, but his words were meant more for Bradley. The pair stared at each other for a few seconds like they were having some sort of silent conversation. Maverick didn’t want to lose Bradley either, and wanted him to know how serious this was.
“We have created a flight path just like the one for the mission. You will learn this path, you will think about this path even in your sleep.” You said as confidently as you could. “First pair will be Coyote as lead pilot, and Phoenix and Bob second.”
The three pilots nodded as they were dismissed by Maverick. Watching as they were escorted to where they needed to go.
Everyone else left the room to listen in on what was going on. Jake tried to remain in the room as long as he could, but when he saw that Bradley wasn’t moving he gave up, and headed towards the door. Bradley remained in his seat as you stood there, and waited until the room was empty.
Nothing was said between the two of you. Picking at the skin around your nails out of habit. While Bradley just watched you curiously like he wanted you to speak first. Both of you had so much to say, but didn’t know where to start.
“How are you?” Bradley asked as he stood up.
“As good as one can be.” Giving him a pathetic smile. “You?”
Not realizing that the two of you were each stepping towards the other closer and closer. Like some type of magnetic force was pulling you to him.
“As good as one can be.” Repeating your words making you smile.
“How you feeling after that little speech?” Crossing your arms across your chest as you two now stood practically in front of the other.
“Nervous as hell.” Answering honestly as he wiped the palms of his hands against his pants. “Do you think we can honestly pull this off?”
“Yeah I think with the right pilots we can.” Bradley actually valued your opinion on certain things.
“Who do you think should be leading this mission?” It was a question you were hoping to avoid with him.
“Bradley come on.” Scoffing as you turned away from him.
“No seriously I want to hear who you think should be leading this mission.” Softly grabbing your hand so you looked back at him.
“Honestly.” Taking a deep breath before you answered. “None of you.”
That answer seemed to shock Bradley as he didn’t say anything and just looked at your face. It was the honest truth, and quite frankly you didn’t want him leading the mission anyway. He meant too much for you to lose.
“None of you are really ready for this mission, and they need someone who can lead it successfully.” Shrugging your shoulders at him as you further explained.
“You’re right.” Finally speaking. “You’re totally right.”
“It’s not that I don’t think you can’t do it.”
“I know what you mean. It’s what you and Maverick have been telling me from the start.” Hearing him mention Mavericks name surprised given how he felt about him. “I can’t play it safe.”
“You’re a good pilot Bradley.” Placing a hand on his shoulder as he weakly smiled.
“So are you.” Taking your hand from his shoulder and holding it in his hand his thumb tenderly rubbing the skin back and forth.
Bradley’s gaze lingering on your face as you both smiled at each other with adoration. Neither one of you doing or saying anything, but just enjoying each others presence. It was like a roller coaster with you two. Constant ups and downs, and you didn’t know when it was going to end.
“We should probably be there with everyone else.” You spoke up as you dropped your hand from his.
“Yeah right.” He stuttered as you walked in front of him Bradley placing a soft touch on your back as he followed right behind you.
Once you got into the room everyone looked stressed and terrified. Some of them had their head in their hands, and others mouths open wide. You and Bradley looked at each other confused to what was going on. Whatever happened it wasn’t good.
“Where the hell have you guys been?” Payback exclaimed everyone turning towards you both. “You guys just missed it.”
“What happened?” Asking as you walked away from Bradley.
“Coyote went into G lock and Phoenix and Bob crashed.” It was like the air left your lungs and all you heard was crash.
“What?” Bradley shouted in disbelief.
You could hear muffled voices but you had no idea what they were saying. There was a ringing in your ear as you stood there like a deer caught in the headlights.
Staring at him wide eyed saying nothing your legs moved before your mouth could say anything. Running out of the room as quickly as you could before you burst into tears. Those same feelings and fear were coming back, and you couldn’t handle something like this happening to you again.
Running into an empty room as you sat down trying to catch your breath. Your breathing was shallow and erratic, and you felt that same anxiety before you had a panic attack. The room was getting smaller, and it was getting much harder to breathe. Like at any moment you could burst into tears.
Bradley quickly followed behind you hearing you as he ran down the hall, and quickly came into the room. The sight before him nearly broke his heart.
He took one look at you, and sat right next to you. An arm wrapped around you while he held your hands. Leaning your head against his shoulder as he tried to help control you. Whispering comforting things in your ear.
“It’s okay just breathe in through your nose, and out of your mouth.” His chin resting on top of your head. “Breathe with me baby.”
Trying to get you to follow his breathing patterns in a slow and easy pace. Hoping that his calm presence would help, and would make you feel better. He hated to see you like this, and wishes he could take all this pain you felt away from you.
“That’s it. Just breathe like that for me.” He whispered once he felt your breathing slowing down. “That’s a good girl.”
Closing your eyes as you suddenly felt exhausted. Pressing yourself deeper into Bradley’s body loving how warm and safe he felt. Bradley wasn’t going to let you go either. He wanted to hold you in his arms for as long as he could.
“Better?” He asked looking at your face.
“Yeah. Thank you.” Weakly smiling at him as you pressed your face into his shoulder. “It’s been so long since that’s happened.”
“I understand.”
The doors came bursting open as a worried Maverick came into the room. Looking at the way Bradley was holding you and seeing the expression you had on your face he knew what happened.
“Are they okay?” Bradley asked.
“There gonna keep them both in the hospital over night for observation. But there gonna be okay.” A sigh of relief left your lips hearing that news.
“That’s good.” He responded not moving an inch.
“It was a close one.” Mavericks voice cracking at the thought of how much worse it could’ve been.
“I’ve never lost a wingman.”
“You’re lucky. Fly long enough and it’ll happen. There will be others.”
“Easy for you to say.” Bradley letting go of you to stand up now. “No wife. No kids. Nobody to mourn you when you burn in.”
“Bradley.” Whispering for him to stop knowing this wasn’t the time or place.
“Go home.” Maverick responded not really in the mood to have this discussion. “Just get some sleep.”
“Why did you pull my papers at the academy?” Bradley asked Maverick before he could walk out the door. “Why did you stand in my way?”
“You weren’t ready.” Maverick kept his voice low and soft.
“Ready for what? To fly like you.” Bradley was raising his voice as he stood face to face with Maverick now.
“No ready to forget the books and trust your instincts. Don’t think just do. You think up there your dead. Believe me.”
“Well my dad believed in you.” Bradley said with such malice it even shocked you. “I’m not gonna make the same mistake.”
As the two of them stared at each other you could tell Maverick was affected by his words. Standing up this time as you wanted to say something, but it was between the two of them. They needed to be work this out themselves.
Before anything else could be spoke the door opened, and Admiral Solomon and Simpson were standing there with weird looks on their faces. Thinking they were there to lecture Maverick, but there focus was on you.
“Y/N.” Warlock waving you over both Maverick and Bradley watching you.
“What is it?” Asking when they shut the door behind you.
“Your fathers gone.”

I'd love to see an info post about the goobers you made. I want to know what their deal is!!! And their designs are so cool, my fuckin' brain craves INFORMATION
See this post for how the antitheses of the canon/DLC scugs look!
EXPERIMENT
Era: Spearmaster Diet: Same as Spearmaster. After meeting anti-FP, they can use their mouth to devour anything they can fit inside it whole. (OOOOO|OOOOO) Abilities: The Experiment has the same ability to create needles as the Spearmaster, though not as efficiently - mostly, they have several poking out of their flesh at any given time when in combat for protective reasons. They have the agility and scales of a Red Lizard and the might and appetite of a Leviathan, albeit with their mouth currently bound shut. Iterator: Anti-SRS, Silently Recursive Sanity, considers the Experiment their magnum opus. The product of a machine that decided to play God rather than focus on the Problem, which still exists in Antiworld. The ultimate apex predator, set loose upon the world. Rather than treating the Experiment as an equal, anti-SRS treats them as nothing but a potential weapon, a wild animal given their "blessings". Anti-FP, Fragmented Precipice, marks the Experiment and frees their jaws.
EXILE
Era: Artificer Diet: Same as Artificer. (OOOOOO|OOO) Abilities: The Exile still has her pups, and yet has even more bloodlust - this time more like hunting for sport than for vengeance. She is constantly on the verge of burning out, and her explosions are much more violent - at the cost of reaching her limit twice as fast, her explosions do mass-scaled damage. One of her legs is replaced with an explosive spear, and if she does a front flip and lands directly on top of a creature, it impales them. Rather than having a normal tail, a stump leaking sparks and embers in her wake trails behind her. She is untouchable by spears, the equivalent of using the Auto-Parry mod ingame. Iterator: Fragmented Precipice is caring for her pups, as she would rather paint the Wastes red than be a parent. She is already marked thanks to stealing an ID Drone - the Antiworld equivalent of the one the Scavenger King has.
PARADOX
Era: Post-Artificer, Pre-Hunter (Inv) Diet: Capable of digesting most things it can fit in its mouth thanks to being full of void fluid. In the amount of time it would take a Jungle Leech to steal a pip from an attached creature, the Paradox randomly gains or loses a pip. (OOOOOOOOOOOO|) Abilities: The entire world has a mix of the Voidmelt and negative Hunter cycle effect on it at all times, and each movement to a new room changes what part of the timeline the Paradox is placed upon. The Paradox can do bomb jumps like the Artificer/Exile at the cost of forcing the timeline to randomize mid-room and disorienting the Paradox. Contact with acid, explosives, and electricity causes the Paradox to explode like a Singularity Bomb due to being full of void fluid. Iterator: No matter what part of the timeline the Paradox is in, every single can is eerily silent and empty. The gravity turning on and off causes a timeline jump every time.
CARNIVORE
Era: Hunter Diet: Obligate carnivore. Going too long without eating will cause its pips to slowly drain - going past zero fills the pips with red. All pips filling with red causes a permanent game over where the Carnivore completely loses itself to its Rot instincts. Starving twice in a row does this as well instead of killing it. Can only eat by grabbing creatures and pulling them inside its mass, like a Rot Cyst. (OOOOOOOOOO|) Abilities: Weak to explosives and feared by any creature that fears the Rot. Extra sensitive hearing at the cost of heavily reduced vision. More agile than most in zero gravity conditions, and capable of suspending itself from its tendrils. Iterator: Originally purposed to be an assistant to anti-NSH, The Never-Signaling Herald. Anti-SRS "borrowed" it, claiming to be giving it improvements in its purpose. Instead, it was mutated into a monster and starved so that upon returning to anti-NSH, it saw his neuron flies as a buffet. The Carnivore came to in a now-silent wing of anti-NSH's can, completely devoid of all organic matter. Assuming that it killed him, it fled, never looking back.
VANTABLACK
Era: Post-Hunter, Pre-Gourmand (same as Caregiver). They were cast out from Journey's End by the Despot for speaking out against their hoarding, selfish tendencies, so they have no idea that their family (Remnant, Pacifist, Dragon Slayer) was further torn apart. Diet: Same as Survivor and Monk. (OOOOO|OOO) Abilities: Completely silent and invisible in the dark, except for their eyes. They make an unnaturally low amount of noise, able to slip past even the most keen of Black Lizards. Iterator: Eventually marked by anti-FP. I don't have much for this fella OTL
DESPOT
Era: Gourmand Diet: Same as Gourmand. (OOOOOOO|OOOO) Abilities: Very similar to the Gourmand, but various valuables are in the pool of items they can cough up. Mostly pearls. They can direct allied and tamed creatures by pointing and gesturing, able to command others to do things for them - such as gathering food for them. Their fatigue bar is shorter due to being a lot lazier thanks to expecting others to do things for them. Iterator: N/A
REMNANT
Era: Survivor Diet: Same as Survivor. (OOOO|OOO) Abilities: The least divergent when it comes to abilities. If dragged into a den by a predator, they have a low chance of being able to crawl back out out of sheer determination instead of dying. Iterator: Marked by anti-FP.
PACIFIST
Era: Monk Diet: Same as Monk, with the ability to eat from corpses at half their usual nutrition value. (OOO|OO) Abilities: Their tail is like one giant Yellow Lizard antennae, giving them dominance over and the ability to communicate with them. Yellow Lizards are tame by default and treat them as a pack member and leader, and drop karma flowers if they die. If a Yellow Lizard in their pack is hurt, it will stun the Pacifist for a moment due to them being capable of feeling their pain. Iterator: N/A
DRAGON SLAYER
See this post!
RIPTIDE
Era: Rivulet Diet: Same as Hunter - nearly an obligate carnivore. (OOOOOO|OOO) Abilities: Even faster underwater than Rivulet with nearly infinite breath at the cost of being incredibly clumsy on land (minus climbing being okay). They get easily fatigued with extended land movement and their back legs are vestigial. They have good sight both in the dark and underwater due to living mainly in the murky, rotten lakes around anti-LTTM, Lingering Traces Toward Malady. Eel Lizards and Salamanders are positive to tame toward them. They can maul creatures while underwater and are slightly bioluminescent. Iterator: Created by anti-CW, Churning Waters, but closer to anti-LTTM. They're similar to the Experiment in that their creator doesn't really treat them very well or like an intelligent equal. They feel monstrous and like assisting anti-LTTM in cleansing the rot out of her system - she's rotten instead of anti-FP, thank anti-SRS - will somehow "redeem" them.
MESSIAH
Era: Saint Diet: Completely incapable of eating and has no need for it. Shelters refuse to work until the blizzard flares up to make up for this. Abilities: Already attuned, thanks to sort of being an echo despite not ever reaching the void sea yet. Or have they? Their attunement state lasts longer the less maximum karma they have, and they are capable of "ascending" Echoes to avoid raising it. The X-shaped marks on their body open like eyes when they are in the attunement state. They cannot die in a way that matters - cycles continue as normal and whatever killed them simply closes up and scars. Iterator: Anti-SOS, Solitude Over Salvation, created them while experimenting desperately to try and solve the Problem. Anti-SOS does not think they are the solution - they think the Messiah is a horrible, horrible mistake. The Messiah, however, genuinely believes that they are the Triple Affirmative made flesh. basically if saint is scug jesus this is the scug antichrist
UNDETERMINED
Anti-Watcher will be figured out when we know more about the Watcher.

Hi! Little!Amethio or Little!Liko oneshot? It could either be amethio regressing in the cave in episode 68 and liko having to recognize what's going on and take care of him. Or it could be the other way around with amethio taking care of a regressed liko! It's up to you :D
Yeah sure! Though, I believe it was episode 64 though.
Understanding
Notes: Sorry, but it is little liko since I'm not too much of an Amethio fan. He does give petty gay though.
Liko stood behind Amethio and watched as Ceruledge tried cutting through the rocks that blocked their path. They had just been bamboozled by Spinel, who trapped them in this cave after they tried to chase after him.
Liko was very stressed out, and this situation added a lot more weight to her shoulders. She was already trying to recover from her hidden panic attack she had in the Glaseado gym bathroom after she had failed her test. With that strange experiment Spinel did, the test, and now this, she was on the verge of either a meltdown, shutdown, or worse, slipping into her littlespace. She could not slip right now when she needed to figure out how to get out of here. Especially not with Amethio around, you know, the guy who almost killed her and Floragato multiple times.
“We need more power, take a rest, Ceruledge,” Amethio told his pokemon. Liko whimpered and tried seeing if she could get a signal again on her phone, but found no luck. Floragato tugged on her coat, sensing something was wrong. Not wanting to worry her Pokemon, she smiled at it and started to think of an excuse.
“I’m fine, Floragato, just cold,” She said before sitting down and pulling her knees up to her chin.
Even though she was in a survival situation, she couldn’t stop thinking about her test. She just felt like such a failure and that everything in life was going wrong. She was never going to be able to find out the secrets of Terapagos and she was just going to die in this cave with Amethio of all people! How come all her friends passed their tests but she couldn’t? She was a weakling compared to them. The way she was having a small anxiety attack just now proved that.
Suddenly, Floragato snapped her out of her trance. It placed some grass in front of her, trying to get to stay warm. It was adorable and very kind of Floragato to try. Then Liko got an idea. Ceruledge was a fire type. They could make a fire! She grabbed the grass and walked over to Amethio.
“Um… Amethio? Can Cewu- Ceruledge help make a fire?” She asked. Liko cursed herself for letting her lisp slip out. Of course, out of all the defense mechanisms her body decided to go to, age regression was the one it picked. She’d just need to hide it the best she could until she met back up with Dot.
Amethio helped take the grass and had Ceruledge light it on fire. He sat next to it, across from Liko as he and his Pokemon took a break. He noticed that Liko was looking a little…off. Her eyebrow was furrowed in an anxious way, and her lip was quivering ever so slightly. He couldn’t help but feel a little worried. She looked so vulnerable and scared. He was used to these kinds of survival situations, but he knew that Liko wasn’t.
Liko just really wanted to go home. She hated being separated from her friends and being forced to stay with the enemy. What if he tried to attack her again? What if they couldn’t leave and they died? Her little toddler brain wasn’t okay with all these big kid feelings. It didn’t know how to deal with them like a normal teenager. She wanted to go back to her room on the Brave Olivine (or Asagi if you like the sub) and draw or cuddle with her stuffy while Friede or Dot or Mollie looked after her. She didn’t want to be here! She was so caught up in her mind that she hadn’t realized a few tears had leaked out of her eyes.
“Liko, you okay?” Amethio asked, noticing the tears. She looked up, and saw his worried face as he started to move closer. She squeaked and quickly curled in on herself and tried to back up as she shook her head involuntarily.
“Hey, it’s alright, I’m not gonna hurt you,” Amethio promised. She obviously needed some comfort and her Pokemon were having a hard time helping her with that. He sat next to her and wrapped his arms around her. Hugs helped him when he was younger, maybe it would help Liko? Realizing that he wasn’t a danger to her, Liko snuggled into him and cried into his shirt. She really needed to be held.
Hattrem, sensing that Liko had slipped, got out of her ball and opened up Liko’s backpack, taking out her Sprigatito plushie and tried to hand it to Liko. The girl blushed and hid, preparing to face the judgement she’d get from Amethio.
Amethio saw that she clearly was embarrassed by the plushie and guessed that Hattrem was just trying to help. He knew that the reason she was feeling humiliated was probably because of him. So he took the stuffed pokemon and held it in front of her.
“You can take it, I won’t judge. We all cope differently,” He assured her. Liko looked up nervously and took the plush, snuggling with it.
“Thanks…” She mumbled, “Most people find this weird,”
“It’s fine, sometimes childish things help us,” He said, still holding her. He could tell that acting childish was really helping relax and calm Liko down.
After a while of huddling together, Amethio noticed that there was a breeze coming from the roof of the cave. He saw that there was a small opening. So he got Corviknight and Ceruledge and to make the gap a bit bigger. Once it was enough to fit them through, he picked up Liko on his back, who giggled happily at getting a piggyback ride. They rode the Corviknight up and made it through the gap. They were about to go their separate ways, but something about leaving Liko alone just didn’t sit right.
“Liko… is it alright if I walk with you until you meet back up with your friends?” He asked. If he left her, she could get hurt or get in even more danger.
“Mhm, you can walks with me,” She nodded.
As they walked, Liko told him all about her stressors and what was going on. He provided her some advice and was accepting of her age regression after she had explained what is was. It was really nice to talk with him and get to spend some time feeling little with him.
Eventually, they caught up with the Rising Volt Tacklers and Friede almost sent Charizard after him but Liko explained to them that he helped care for her. Friede wasn’t fully convinced that he wasn’t about to steal Terapagos though and was very skeptical and unsure.
“It’s alright, I don’t want Terapagos if it’s not a fair fight. Liko feeling small would give me an unfair advantage that would make me feel unaccomplished,” Amethio promised, “I best be on my way before I change my mind though.”
“Wait! Ame’io,” Liko ran up and wrapped her arms around him, “Thank you,”
“No problem, Kid, Take care. I can’t wait until we get to battle again fairly,” He pulled away after she was done hugging him and left her to be with her family. She seemed like she was really happy with them. He wondered what it would be like to be in a family like that.

President Revises Investment Policy Paving Way for Major Infrastructure and Tourism Projects
The Government of Maldives has taken a significant step forward in enhancing its tourism appeal and national infrastructure through a newly issued presidential decree. Under Presidential Decree No. 6/2025, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced amendments to the existing investment policy, widening the scope of projects eligible for cross-subsidy investments. This initiative is expected to attract greater foreign interest by offering broader opportunities across key development areas, particularly tourism, transport, and social welfare. The revised policy, issued in accordance with the Maldives Tourism Act (Law No. 2/99), outlines a strategic expansion of major development projects along with updated minimum investment requirements. One of the key highlights is the announcement of new domestic airports to be developed across several islands, further improving connectivity for both locals and international visitors. These airports will be constructed in HA. Dhidhdhoo, HDh. Makunudhoo, Sh. Komandoo, Sh. Milandhoo, Sh. Bileiyfahi, R. Fainu, R. Alifushi, B. Thulhaadhoo, AA. Mathiveri, M. Muli, F. Nilandhoo, Th. Guraidhoo, and Th. Vilufushi, in addition to new airports in Huvadhu Atoll and two locations in Laamu Atoll. These additions will make travel across the archipelago more accessible and efficient, enabling tourists to explore lesser-known island destinations. In the tourism sector, the government has emphasized the development of the Asseyri tourism model in Laamu Gan and Addu City. This approach aims to diversify tourism offerings and promote inclusive regional economic growth. In addition, a major land reclamation project of 15 hectares in the K. Giraavaru lagoon has been greenlit for the development of “Hope Island,” a dedicated space to provide care and support for vulnerable children. Nearby, a further 30 hectares have been allocated for the construction of a new Central Prison Complex, reinforcing the government’s broader public safety and social welfare priorities. Beyond tourism and aviation, the decree also places strong emphasis on national development priorities such as social housing and security infrastructure. Extensive land reclamation has been approved in Rasmale’, Gulhifalhu, Giraavarufalhu, and Uthuru Thila Falhu, areas which are vital to accommodating population growth and improving living conditions. These projects will support new housing schemes and government facilities, contributing to the sustainable growth of the Greater Malé Region. To support these expansions, infrastructure enhancements have been outlined, including the construction of essential roadways, utility services, and inter-island connectivity through causeways. Planned links include Th. Veymandoo to Th. Kin’bidhoo, Th. Dhiyamigili to Th. Madifushi, L. Hithadhoo to L. Kunahandhoo, L. Kalaidhoo to L. Dhan’bidhoo, and M. Muli to M. Designed to hold snuff (a scented, powdered form of tobacco), snuffboxes were fashionable accessories for both men and women in the mid-eighteenth century. Snuff was believed to have a host of medicinal benefits, helping to prevent diseases and awaken the senses. It could also signal sensibility in genteel social encounters. There was an art not only to gracefully pinching and inhaling snuff, but to navigating the unspoken social codes that dictated etiquette for offering snuff to others. (x)

Anti-Foaming Agents Market: Key Growth Drivers and Industry Challenges

Navigating the Evolving Landscape of the Anti-Foaming Agents Market
The anti-foaming agents market, once a niche segment of the broader chemical additives industry, is undergoing a period of significant transformation. Driven by growing demand across diverse end-use industries, regulatory shifts, and continuous product innovation, the market is becoming increasingly dynamic and competitive. As industries prioritize efficiency and environmental compliance, the need for advanced anti-foaming solutions is more critical than ever.
Understanding Anti-Foaming Agents
Anti-foaming agents, or defoamers, are chemical additives designed to reduce or eliminate foam formation in industrial processes. Foam can interfere with manufacturing efficiency, impact product quality, and damage equipment, making foam control essential in industries ranging from food and beverage to pharmaceuticals, water treatment, and paints and coatings.
Anti-foaming agents can be classified into various types, including silicone-based, water-based, oil-based, and powder defoamers. Each type has specific applications, advantages, and limitations, and the choice of agent is largely dictated by the end-use requirement and regulatory considerations.
Market Dynamics: Growth Drivers
1. Expanding Industrial Base
As global industrialization accelerates, particularly in emerging economies such as India, Brazil, and Southeast Asia, the demand for process efficiency grows in tandem. Industries such as paper and pulp, oil and gas, and wastewater treatment are scaling operations, and with that comes the need for better foam control. For instance, in wastewater treatment plants, excessive foam can lead to operational challenges and reduced efficiency, creating a stable demand for defoaming agents.
2. Stringent Environmental Regulations
Environmental sustainability is a growing concern, pushing manufacturers to reformulate their products with eco-friendlier ingredients. This shift is especially significant in the food processing and pharmaceutical sectors, where defoamers must meet stringent regulatory standards for toxicity and biodegradability. As a result, there’s a notable move toward water-based and biodegradable anti-foaming agents that comply with evolving regulations such as REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) in Europe and EPA standards in the United States.
3. Advancements in Product Innovation
Innovation continues to shape the competitive landscape. Market players are investing in R&D to develop high-performance, specialty defoamers tailored for specific applications. For example, next-generation silicone-based defoamers now offer improved stability at high temperatures and pH levels, expanding their usability in complex industrial environments. Moreover, companies are exploring bio-based alternatives to appeal to environmentally conscious customers and fulfill sustainability goals.
Market Challenges
Despite positive growth signals, the market is not without its challenges. One significant hurdle is the high cost of advanced formulations. Silicone-based and specialty defoamers, while effective, are often more expensive than conventional options, potentially limiting adoption among small and mid-sized enterprises. Additionally, raw material price volatility, especially in the petrochemical segment, impacts production costs and profit margins.
Another issue is product compatibility. Defoamers must be carefully selected to avoid interaction with other process chemicals, and suboptimal selection can lead to process inefficiencies or contamination, particularly in sensitive applications such as pharmaceuticals or food processing.
Regional Insights
The Asia-Pacific region dominates the anti-foaming agents market and is expected to maintain its leadership due to robust industrial activity and rising environmental awareness. China and India, in particular, are investing in water treatment infrastructure and expanding their manufacturing sectors, which in turn boosts demand for defoamers.
North America and Europe follow closely, with market maturity and regulatory compliance driving innovation. While growth is slower in these regions, the focus is on high-quality, sustainable, and specialized formulations. Latin America and Africa, though smaller markets, present untapped potential, especially as industrial investments rise in sectors like mining, agriculture, and construction.
Competitive Landscape
The anti-foaming agents market is moderately consolidated, with key players including BASF SE, Dow Inc., Evonik Industries, Wacker Chemie AG, and Kemira Oyj. These companies are focused on strategic collaborations, mergers, and acquisitions to expand their geographic reach and enhance product portfolios.
Smaller niche players are also entering the space, offering customized or environmentally friendly solutions to carve out their share in the market. Digital transformation is enabling better customer service and product performance tracking, providing an edge to tech-savvy firms.
Looking Ahead
The future of the anti-foaming agents market is tied closely to global trends in sustainability, industrial automation, and regulatory compliance. As industries become more process-oriented and environmentally responsible, demand for innovative, cost-effective, and eco-friendly defoamers will rise. Stakeholders that can align with these trends—through innovation, agility, and strategic foresight—are likely to emerge as market leaders.
In conclusion, the anti-foaming agents market, while mature in certain areas, is far from stagnant. With the right blend of technological advancement and regulatory alignment, the sector offers ample opportunities for growth and differentiation in the years to come.
