Hi Simers!
Do you like books? I do. So when I combine books and The Sims 4... It equals a book trope legacy challenge lol.
So here's my version of it (:
***Everything in this challenge is optional.***
I do hope you add your own drama to this challenge. But following it to the tee is totally cool too!
Happy playing.
Generation 1: Enemies-to-Lovers
Trope Description: Two Sims who initially despise each other are forced to interact, slowly discovering hidden feelings that blossom into love.
Traits:
Heir: Hot-Headed, Self-Assured, Mean
Rival (Partner): Jealous, Perfectionist, Ambitious
Aspiration: Soulmate or Chief of Mischief
Backstory:
Your founder is a Sim who begins their journey with someone they can't stand. Maybe they’re forced to work together or live as roommates, but slowly their hatred turns into something else. They become the strong foundation of a family that thrives through drama and passion.
Goals:
Start with two Sims who dislike each other and make them enemies.
They must argue at least five times before they begin to develop romantic feelings.
Both Sims must pursue different career paths (ex: one in Business, the other in Criminal).
They cannot get engaged until after a major turning point in their lives (ex: one of them hits rock bottom or loses a job).
They must have a surprise pregnancy or a risky woohoo that cements their connection.
Kids: 2
*This trope always makes me think of mafia romances or the guy being a bad boy lol. *
Generation 2: Forbidden Love
Trope Description: Two Sims from different social or economic classes fall in love, despite external pressures trying to keep them apart.
Traits:
Heir: Romantic, Family-Oriented
Love Interest: Loner, Hot-Headed, Paranoid (optional)
Aspiration: Soulmate or Family
Backstory:
Raised in the intense environment of their parents' volatile but loving relationship, the heir seeks a calmer love but finds themselves drawn to someone from a completely different world. Their family disapproves, which complicates things.
Goals:
The heir must fall in love with someone from a drastically different background (ex: rich or poor, different careers, lifestyles, or even an occult Sim if you have Realm of Magic or Vampires).
Maintain a secret relationship with their partner for as long as possible.
After a huge argument with their family, the heir and their partner must elope or move out.
Have a family despite the hardships, and work to repair the relationship with the heir's parents by the time their first child reaches childhood.
Kids: You pick
Generation 3: Grumpy/Sunshine
Trope Description: One Sim is emotionally closed off and grumpy, while the other is cheerful and determined to break through their walls.
Traits:
Heir: Gloomy, Loner, Perfectionist
Partner: Cheerful, Outgoing, Good
Aspiration: Friend of the World or Bestselling Author
Backstory:
Growing up in the shadow of their parents' forbidden love story, this heir has become emotionally closed off, not believing in love as easily. But their cheerful love interest refuses to give up on them, bringing some much-needed light into their life.
Goals:
The heir must have a negative relationship bar toward their partner at first.
The partner must fail at least 5 romantic interactions before the heir starts to warm up to them.
Have them slowly build their relationship through small, friendly interactions before romance.
Eventually, the grumpy heir must propose after reaching max friendship.
Optional: Have one of the couple’s parents live with them as they age, creating some family tension.
Generation 4: Love at First Sight… But
Trope Description: The heir is perfectly happy being single, focusing on their life and friendships, and hooking up when their best friend sets them up on a blind date. Sparks fly instantly, and they fall deeply in love, but their new partner has significant emotional baggage that threatens the stability of the relationship. The heir must decide if they can help their partner heal or if the relationship will crumble under the weight of their issues.
Traits:
Heir: Loyal
Partner: Good, Gloomy, Erratic, or Jealous (baggage traits) (optional)
Aspiration: Soulmate or Friend of the World
Backstory: The heir has grown up in a family where love was always complicated (thanks to the betrayals, secrets, or drama of previous generations). Despite this, they have a positive outlook on life and love but have been content with focusing on friends, family, and career. They’re known for being compassionate, generous, and always putting others first. Their best friend, believing they deserve love, sets them up on a blind date, and it’s love at first sight… for the heir. The love interest seems perfect, but as they get to know each other, it becomes clear that the partner has deep emotional baggage that makes the relationship challenging.
Goals:
The heir must remain single until their best friend sets them up on a blind date. This relationship must start with love at first sight for the heir (instant romance chemistry).
Build the relationship with the love interest, who seems perfect at first, but their "baggage" traits (like Gloomy, Jealous, Erratic, or your own) start to create tension.
The love interest must have at least 3 emotional outbursts or tense interactions that show their baggage and cause strain on the relationship.
The heir must try to resolve their partner's emotional baggage through positive interactions (building friendship and romance), but these traits cannot be fully changed or cured (no cheats or mods to remove traits).
Plan a dramatic moment where the relationship reaches a breaking point due to the partner’s baggage. The heir must decide to stay and help their partner heal or end the relationship.
If they choose to stay: The heir must continue to support their partner and eventually get married, but the emotional baggage will still affect their lives.
If they choose to leave: The heir must break up dramatically and remain single for at least 5 Sim days before they can enter another relationship.
The heir must eventually have at least one child to pass on the legacy.
Whether your sim stays or lives, they must create a stable life full of love for their children/child.
Generation 5: Friends-to-Lovers
Trope Description: Two childhood friends slowly realize their love for each other over time.
Traits:
Heir: Outgoing, Loyal (optional)
Love Interest: Creative, Shy, Family-Oriented (optional)
Aspiration: Best Friends or Soulmate
Backstory:
The heir grows up in a stable, loving family. Their best friend has always been there, but it takes time for them to realize their feelings.
Goals:
Your heir and their future partner must start as childhood friends and build a platonic relationship throughout their teenage years.
They cannot engage in romantic interactions until both Sims are Young Adults.
Each must date at least one other Sim before realizing their true feelings.
Have a slow-burn romance where the Sims engage in friendly interactions before any romance develops.
Once they start dating, they must get engaged and married relatively quickly, as if they’ve finally "realized" what they’ve always wanted.
Kids: Big Family (:
Generation 6: Fake Relationship
Trope Description: Two Sims pretend to be in a relationship for external reasons, only to develop real feelings over time.
Traits:
Heir: Noncommittal (can be changed later)
Fake Partner: Hothead, Romantic, Loner (optional)
Aspiration: Serial Romantic or Mansion Baron
Backstory:
The heir has always been confident but avoids commitment, unsure if they really believe in love. They find themselves in a fake relationship (ex: for career, family, or financial reasons) that slowly becomes something real.
Goals:
The heir must start a fake relationship with another Sim (you can justify this through career reasons, like getting a promotion, or a family request to "date someone").
They cannot perform any romantic actions until they’ve been on 3 dates.
The relationship must be purely transactional at first (ex: the heir gains a promotion or impresses their family).
Slowly, their feelings should shift to real love as they gain a friendship bar, eventually leading to real romantic gestures and eventual marriage.
Kids: 2+
Generation 7: Opposites Attract
Trope Description: Two Sims with completely different personalities and values are drawn to each other.
Traits:
Heir: Ambitious, Neat
Partner: Lazy, Goofball
Aspiration: Successful Lineage or Party Animal (optional)
Backstory:
Growing up watching their parent navigate a fake relationship, the heir believes in having things neatly planned out, but their partner’s carefree attitude teaches them the value of balance and joy.
Goals:
The heir must have a serious career (Doctor, Scientist, etc.) while their partner pursues something more laid back or creative (Artist, Musician, etc.).
They must have 3 arguments about their opposing values before they can get engaged.
Once married, one Sim should adapt to the other’s lifestyle, either the ambitious Sim loosening up, or the carefree partner becoming more responsible.
Kids: 3
Generation 8: Second Chance Romance
Trope Description: Two Sims who were once in love find themselves reconnecting later in life.
Traits:
Heir: Gloomy, Romantic
Partner (Ex-Love): Noncommittal (optional)
Aspiration: Soulmate or Big Happy Family (optional)
Backstory:
The heir had a great love in their youth, but they were separated for various reasons (career, family, or personal growth). Years later, they reconnect, reigniting that old flame.
Goals:
The heir must date their partner as a teen but break up due to external reasons.
They must marry someone else only to divorce later.
In the last stages of their young adulthood or, adult/elder, the heir should reconnect with their first love, rekindling the romance.
They should remarry or move in together in the later stage of life.
Kids: Up to you
Generation 9: Unrequited Love
Trope Description: One Sim is in love with someone who doesn’t feel the same way, creating tension and heartbreak.
Traits:
Heir: Loves Outdoors, Clumsy
Love Interest: Self-Absorbed, Outgoing
Aspiration: Painter Extraordinaire or Musical Genius
Backstory:
The heir has always been a quiet, introspective Sim. They fall for someone completely out of their league, someone who barely notices their existence. But when they do, they date! Only to be cheated on.
Goals:
The heir must develop a crush on a Sim with opposite traits.
They must perform 10 romantic interactions that are rejected before developing their relationship.
Love interest should cheat on your heir, leaving them in debt and heartbroken.
Eventually, they should marry another Sim.
Create a bittersweet love story, where the heir realizes that true love might be right under their nose.
Kids: 1
Generation 10: Redemption Arc
Trope Description: The final heir, born into a legacy of complicated relationships, seeks redemption for the mistakes of the past.
Traits:
Heir: Hot-Headed, Gloomy, Family-Oriented
Aspiration: Successful Lineage or Super Parent (optional)
Backstory:
Growing up with the stories of their ancestors, this heir feels the weight of their family's legacy. They’ve seen love tear people apart and bring them together. Now, they must reconcile the past and create a brighter future.
Goals:
Start with negative traits and a bad reputation, reflecting the family’s troubled history.
They must experience a significant low point (ex: career loss, relationship breakup).
To redeem themselves, they must repair at least two relationships (with friends or family).
Switch careers to something that helps others (Social Worker, Doctor, Detective).
They must have a successful, happy family, and raise children who break the cycle of complicated love.
Optional: Host a family reunion, inviting all living relatives, to symbolically heal the family’s past.
