Slugleaf

[Edit] Changed aome of the story recently and decided that slug would die at some point as well in a battle. He is now part of starclan in the current. Sorry for any confusion. :)

Slugleaf was the Brother of Brackenstar but that did not stop him from completely going against him during the war. Slugleaf is independent and well trained in battle. He is like a grandfather to the clan and infact fathers half the apprentices and 4 warriors.

Slugcat age headcanon:

Slugkits: Youngest offspring (newborn-3 years)

Slugpups: Usually found abandoned, in shelters due to parent slugcats not knowing how hard it is to raise them (4-7 years)

Slugchildren: Slightly older slugpups, usually found a forever family by this age (8-11 years)

Slugcats: Leave the nest/colony/family they found once adult, naturally nomadic (12+ years)

An ask I meant to ask earlier, but keep forgetting: is 'theme-naming' within a litter (like how Oakclaw and Crookedstar were both named after trees w/ Oak- and Cedar-) a common practice? I ask because I have the half image of a RiverClan litter being named Antkit, Beetlekit, and Spiderkit. When/if asked why they were all named for bugs, the mother affectionately says "Because they're always underfoot!"

Theme-naming happens pretty frequently! Mostly in RiverClan, of course, because they love a good, fun name that has a story behind it. Sometimes the names are just themed with things close to each other, like Snailkit and Slugkit, and sometimes they're based off of something special, such as a litter born on a stormy night being called Lightningkit, Stormkit and Rainkit - or even a joke, like your example! As long as it's not cruel, it's fair game.

Some mothers just go with the first names that come to mind, or want to be specific and as accurate as possible, so their kits don't have a theme. But there are plenty of queens who want to be cute or funny or poetic and give their kits similar names, even if they aren't exactly perfect. I mean, they still fit, but Dust- is a lot less defined than Pipit-, even if it goes well with a brother named Mud-.

Will we ever get an issue from Slugpelt's POV?

I don't consider this to be a spoiler, so I'll say that no, only Rainhaze and Cormorantpaw have alternate POVs. This is primarily Pinepaw's story, and I only dipped into other POVs when I physically couldn't tell the story from his perspective. Slugpelt doesn't require a POV.

What a deep cut, but also accurate. Although honestly this has more of Dustfeather and Slugkit energy than anything.

Okay so she was brought along with her brother to Windclan, Feverstrike didn't disclose from where they were from, just that they found kits abandoned near the border. Embermask had to give them up due to harsh changes in Thunderclan's behavior towards kittypet blood, the kits father was partially of kitty pet descent and thus it put them in danger if they were to stay in Thunderclan.

Honeypaw doesn't have much connection to Starclan, she was chosen as a healer's apprentice by Wheatpool, the current medic (he has his own agenda for this, in this au of mine there's a lot of tension between the clans but healers of all clans [minus Shadowclan] have their own conspiracy going on, trying to gain power, and Wheatpool's in on it) after he assured the clan that she will gain it in due time. Wheatpool was an senior apprentice when Feverstrike was just apprenticed themselves and they are quite close with each other due to Fever's strong faith and their involvement in Windclan's religious life - so Feverstrike wasn't really afraid to place their niece under his guidance. As for Honeypaw's own views of her future, she doesn't mind being a healer, while she wouldn't have minded fighting or hunting she was happy to put her wits to good use, also she really likes plants and being in the field, working alone. Along the way she found herself craving the respect of actually holding an important position in all the clans. She and her brother are very close, she supports him in his struggles to pick between a warrior's life and that of picking the path of a mediator, like Feverstrike. They both are on good terms with their uncles and aunts, and their somewhat adopted siblings - Sagekit and Slugkit, they take care of them after they become senior apprentices. She doesn't really wonder about her parents, never questions the 'found at the border' story, unlike her brother. I'm still kind of working on her story, she eventually slowly gets introduced to Wheatpool's grand plan unknown by the other cat's in her life, besides her close friend Breampaw, the healer apprentice of Riverclan. After Thunderclan gets really aggressive due to windlcan and Riverclan forming an alliance together she gets involved in poison making fo Wheatpool and actually gets her full name Honeyweed.

Floodleopard's kits

Flood wasn't planning at all to have kits, she just got a bunch in a very short amount of time

what I'm picturing so far is

She volunteered at the Daycare one day and Slugkit (who's mama/parents died and now is there 24/7) grows really attached to her to the point of crying if she goes too far.

Fungi is like "do you want to adopt him?"

and she's like "well shit I guess I got no choice look at him"

She sees kits drowning and leaps in to save them. She demands what they were doing so far in the water, and the kits tell her that their father wanted to test their skills (I don't know who the father is, but he is sent to the Death Ring).

Flood takes in the kits.

Flood notices that one or two of her kits keep sneaking to the same place with their minnows.

She follows and find them feeding their friend, a lost kit who woke up one day with his parents gone. She sighs and takes him back to the den.

The kit I imagine for this scenario is the black one with a white belly

And then she just keeps adopting kits, sometimes before she even knows it.

Like once she probably woke up with an extra child snuggling by her and is just told "I was really cold, please don't be mad" and she just wraps her tail tightly around them all and goes to sleep again.

I also like to imagine once she found a kit or two, began walking them home, then heard little footsteps and turned to see ANOTHER litter of kits following her because "hey she said she's taking them to a safe place."
