lately I have been SO obsessed with top form like is not even funny anymore, i’ve rewatched the honey scene a disgusting amount of times now and I can’t seem to stop🤚🏼😔 (also the last gif has been on my mind 24/7 like EXCUSE MEEE🤚🏼🫣)

i finally finished Top Form, and now I feel a little empty. i was dreading the ending of this show the most. it, from the very beginning, became one of my favourite show of all time, and SmartBoom one of my favourite pairing. these two are such talented men, and I am in complete awe of them every episode, again and again.

there is just so much to love about this show, from the story, to the acting, to the cinematography, to the relationships. i shed many tears throughout the 11 episodes, fell in love with them, was left heart broken and aching for them, and felt their immense love.

i cannot wait for more from them. i cannot wait for season 2. i cannot wait to see Jade with his man. i cannot wait to see progression between JinAkin and maybe even, something between Johnny and Naru. Until then, I will just continue to miss them.

Honestly for his first show, what a fantastic job Boss Wasakorn has done, and i cannot wait to witness his magic again.

I am so so so taken by JinAkin/SmartBoom.

♤ black spades & red hearts ♡

the question on the promo photos gets an answer immediately — who is gonna be number one? — it's Akin. he's a red boy.

red is associated with victory, with being the first. but it also implies passion, which Akin has plenty of — he's passionate about acting, about diligence and skills — but not about fame or popularity. we get an idea that he works hard and deserves everything that he's earned. he's the ace of people's hearts.

when the audience is introduced to Jin we learn within minutes that he's closed off. he's not necessarily pessimistic or rude but he "doesn't have anything in his heart". that makes him a black boy.

his emptiness is only emphasized by the color of nothingness — by the vastness of it. however balck is required for all of the colors to have depth. Jin's agents pray to God to fill him with something, for his darkness to find light — and that's exactly what he does. his light finds him.

adding another layer of symbolism I turn to tarot cards — and their correlation with our aces. tarot cards can be easily paralleled with playing cards so I want to explore what explanations about the characters and their motives can be found in the symbols of tarot.

ACE OF HEARTS = ACE OF CUPS

cups are water, water is feelings. the first meaningful interaction that Akin has with Jin face to face is the crying scene — he literally forces the tears out of Jin, making him feel emotional, touching his heart physically and metaphorically. aces always represent beginnings and while we don't get the feeling that Akin falls for Jin right at that moment, later we have another scene — the rain scene. and when Jin keeps them safe and almost goes for the kiss (rain representing the overwhelming emotion now BOTH of them are feeling) Akin's heart definitely skips a beat. ace of cups shows potential for a happy relationship, love and joy. it shows potential for pure romance without any malice, a desire for deep commited love.

ACE OF SPADES = ACE OF SWORDS

swords are air, air is intellect. it's a clear understanding of your desire, of what you want in a partner. Jin is still young, with an empty heart he doesn't really know himself. he took the acting job just because the oppurtunity presented itself — and not in pursuit of his dreams. Akin, on the other side, has principles and standards making him a grown-up who knows himself, knows what he wants — and he advices Jin that it's very important to their profession, that it's makes them good at acting — to know yourself. this makes Jin curios not only about himself but also about Akin. thus an idea is born — he has to get to the same level to stand with Akin. Jin rapidly becomes a rising star, a breakthrough in the industry signing up with the agency that Akin refuses to — Jin's logical goal is to get to Akin, whilst Akin has his morals and consciences to uphold. Jin must think with his head now and not his heart — he has to get to a point before he can propose Akin with anything.

so we can assume that the main conflict will be mind VS heart. the scene with the TV in the seconds episode purposefully starts to blur the lines between them, making us feel both pov's. Jin recites the words that Akin inspired him with and that makes Akin take a step towards him — he hit the follow button. he follows his heart. and while I agree that Jin has so far been portraited as more enthusiastic, full of passion and determination (which would really make him more a fire than air tbh) but I think that only supports his dual nature — the angel wings, his agents calling him "Angel Jin" whilst his color mainly stays black.

in conclusion, we have Akin who is being blinded by his feelings and Jin who is at the moment sure about his desires, reflecting in the red of love.

but will he be swayed by the the prospects of fame or by his man? we are to find out!
