Snails, snails, and more snails! I am totally absorbed and deep into this pattern by now! I don’t know what it is, but this one is one of the most challenging ones so far! There seems to be something about the grade of detail and quality of line work which seems to have thrown it off several times, so I kept starting all over again many times! . Anyway, what you see here is the latest version, and then when you scroll through, you can observe and witness the process of tweaking outlines, background texture and colours! . The very last pattern you see is also part of my collection in progress, so those patterns should balance and complement each other! . Hello, lovely people! Before I head into my weekend, just wanted to share my slow progress with you! . This pattern I seemed to flow nicely in the beginning, and then turned out to be really tricky (I’m still not sure whether I need to tweak it even more)! Of you scroll through you’ll see the very beginning (with the cream outline), which didn’t work at all in the repeat, so I had to recolour all the individual snail elements, separating shells from bodies — a painfully slow procedure, which revealed all the small inaccuracies in the sketching phase! . Anyway, I got to a point where I can see where it might be going, and leave this pattern for the sake of tackling another! . I’d love to hear your opinion on the contrast, especially the outlines: Is there enough contrast, or maybe even too much? What’s your immediate response to the use of colour and texture? Should I add another layer of background texture, or does the whole repeat get too busy then? . Thanks for your thoughts!
