Cu-wip-osity Tag Game~!

Thank you @bvbyphoenix for tagging me!

(My main was tagged, but I'm posting this here to keep writing to the writing blog~)

Rules: reveal the titles of the documents in your WIP folder and tag as many people as there are documents. (I'll only include fandom-relevant ones for this post, and idk many people in the fandom, so if you see this: Tag! You're it!)

WIPs:

ets log: rec(Obsession.lov) Part [2]: Eden(Love) manages to recover her Obsession code successfully, as it's become her only reason for living. She continues trying to hold onto the code without it being found and removed again, while also obeying ETS's tests so she can get outside the facility and start looking for Marcus again.

Part [3] will be her excursions outside, mostly about clubs and parties she goes to between her work (which I'm making that she has to find a proper "opening" or something to the Meridian). ETS allows her to have fun so she can learn better how to blend in with people, but truthfully, she's gathering info about Marcus's wherabouts.

Untitled: A brief drabble that takes place during Inversion: Another Story about how Chelsie is glad Kody got kicked out so he wouldn't have to be in that situation.

Untitled: Kody is talking with his therapist about people can be burdened with grief even without the physical death of another.

A Clearing in the Algae: An update on Chelsie and Kody, and how things are starting to get better for them.

Imperium Willow(Darlin'): I admittedly forgot why I wanted to write this oops- Willow manages to survive this AU, and swears revenge after holding David's lifeless body in her arms.

Aftershock: Another Lament: I still want to work on this okay- But just for fun, I'll briefly list the parts I had in mind for it:

P1 - Angel: How Angel is doing after hearing about David's death. Will end with Milo and Chrys(Sweetheart) trying to reach her so she's not alone.

P2 - Alpha: Asher is having nightmares, and he and Emmanuel(Baabe) talk about Asher's becoming Alpha, and how he would rather have David back.

P3 - Sire: An update on Vincent and Gracie(Lovely). Will end vaguely in order to branch off with the person they chose to let Vincent turn.

P4 - The 69: Huxley was chosen to be reborn in Route 1. After being greeted by Vincent, Lasko (wearing an eyepatch) and Damien (in a wheelchair) enter to check on him. They discuss what happened and grieve their losses, while also including the fact that Gavin returned to Aria for an undetermined amount of time.

P5 - Detective: Milo is having nightmares about being outside the ward watching people die. Chrys tries to reassure him, and they continue into talk about the investigation. Chrys is on leave do to their motorcycle injury, but has received a promotion due to their work during the Inversion.

P6 - Healer: Willow joins Sam alone on a rooftop to reflect on the Inversion. She asks about how the kids are doing, and Sam provides updates. He also mentions that D.A.M.N. is now extremely shortstaffed, but they're having a flood of people wanting to study healing, and they've offered him a job knowing he's very skilled in that area. Willow thinks he should accept the offer, but he's not sure if teaching is what he wants to do.

P7 - The Freelancer: Cora was chosen to be reborn in Route 2. After being greeted by Vincent, Gavin and Caelum enter to check on her. They discuss what happened, including Lasko and Damien being in the hospital, and grieve their losses.

P8 - Dreamer: To end the series, we cut to Jessi(Blake's Listener) and Blake out on a date. Blake basically goes "uhuhu according to keikaku" while Jessi has no clue that her bf is a psycho.

Pending P? - Sister: This was a bonus chapter I've already sorta decided to pull, but it was going to purely revolve around my Blake's Sister OC Ava, and her feelings about this new case opening up as a result of the Invesion. This includes the police chief asking her (probably offscreen) if she'll be able to handle a case that involves her sibling, and revealing to Kieran (maybe Chrys on call) that the dreamwalker that interfered may be her brother. She reveals to them that while the two had a tense relationship growing up, and haven't spoken in years, she still loves her brother as a family member and may find it difficult to combat him.

Basically, Sam gets Hanahaki Disease, and the clan is trying to figure out what's wrong with him. William cites that it's an old and rare disease he hasn't seen in a while, and tbh, I have no idea how else it would go other than that, lol.

Locked in a Cage: Angie(Angel) right before her execution in the Imperium.

This is For Your Own Good: Avior realizes he completely fucked up handling Stella's(Starlight's) memory loss. Before their relationship shatters beyond repair, he holds her down and erases her memories to have one more shot...again.

Vague Ideas:

Vega/Warden: I just wanted to write about Hydra, and reference how she's friends with Caelum 💞

Vaelum Fluff: ...Okay soooo I kinda want to make a Vega/Caelum fic, but I don't really have any ideas for how to go about writing it, so it's just been a desire of mine silently floating through the void. I just know I want it to be soft and fluffy 💕

Kody Redemption P?: Maybe or maybe not a part where Chelsie goes to get her things back from her ex, but he tricks her into getting her alone so he can hurt her. Chelsie manages to reach Kody and in a very melodramatic fashion, Kody goes fisticuffs with her ex. He somehow gets out of it less harmed than Chelsie is, so she ends up in the hospital longer. This will be the second time she meets Damien, who will now be in a wheelchair.

Kody Redemption P?: I did want to include somewhere that he started going back to college somewhere else and met a cute and sweet girl that he likes and likes him back. It will also touch on how he slips back into his bad habits of stalking and possessiveness, but whether he stops talking to the girl or forces himself to correct his behaviours, I haven't decided yet.

Quinn Arc Shorts [My Ver]: I did intend once upon a time to fill in some of those blanks that Yours in Eternity, My Dearest had about what was going on with Quinn, but I'm not sure I have the desire to anymore honestly. I still have the spot reserved for it tho.

Vincent/Gracie&Dana(Stranger) Date OR Future Vincent/Dana: I have tossed the idea around to expand on Never Let You Go Again a little and have the three of them doing stuff together one day. I also had the idea of distant future Vincent after Gracie's passed away and how he and Dana start to hook up {Vampire/Mermaid couple anyone??] but idkkkk

Lost episodes 2.03 "Orientation", 2.21 "?", and 2.24 "Live Together, Die Alone Part 2"

Despite having the worst title sequence I’ve ever seen in my whole entire life, Lost is really very special. It’s affirmed how much I love things that are bizarre and spiritual with a sprawling yet intimate ensemble cast. The amount of people they managed to cram on this island is truly crazy, as is its incredibly rich, decades-long history. I love everything about Lost, but what I love most is the hatch, which really had its moment to shine in season two, although of course the implications of what happened there reverberate throughout the series.

John Locke and Boone spend much of season one excavating the underground metal bunker that they and everyone else comes to refer to as ‘the hatch’. First of all, the way this show normalized its own verbiage and experimental plotlines is incredible to me. The amount of times I heard “I gotta go back to the hatch” without ever thinking anything of it, but then realized I couldn’t even begin to explain what was going on to someone who hadn’t been along for the ride. Lost was so itself.

John got pretty obsessed with the hatch as he and Boone tried and failed to get it open. It was only when Rousseau came to the beach and warned the camp of an impending attack from the Others that more people got involved with attempting to get the hatch open- namely Jack, Kate, and Hurley. The group got some dynamite from The Black Rock to blow it open, but at the moment of truth Hurley noticed the numbers embossed on the metal- his numbers, his cursed, evil numbers. He frantically tries to stop John from blowing the hatch open, which only proceeds to make John hurry the fuck up. I was John’s biggest fan in season one, but this was where I first started to see some cracks in his philosophy and motives. You’d think a man of faith would want to hear about these evil numbers, so that begs the question, what is it that he has faith in, exactly?

What’s actually in the hatch proves to be even more interesting than the shrouded mystery of an unknown underground structure. Desmond Hume is down there, on the fringes of sanity from three years of isolation and getting no more than two uninterrupted hours of sleep. Desmond, who, it turns out, has met Jack in LA (in another life), shipwrecked on the island while attempting to sail around the world. After coming ashore, he was brought into the hatch by a representative of the Dharma Initiative, who has since died. Desmond has since assumed the representative’s task of entering those fateful numbers into an ancient looking computer every 108 minutes. If he doesn’t, the world will end. Or something to that effect. He’s not exactly sure.

In episode 2.03, “Orientation”, Jack and John discover and view the Dharma Initiative orientation film that gives them all the same information that Desmond has, which really isn’t much. The film has clearly been spliced in places, with sections missing, but the ominous gist is this:

“Welcome. I’m Dr. Marvin Candle, and this is the orientation film for Station Three of the Dharma Initiative. The Dharma Initiative was created in 1970. Following in the footsteps of BF Skinner… imagined a large-scale communal research compound where scientists and free thinkers from around the globe could pursue research in psychology, parapsychology, electromagnetism, and utopian social… whose financial backing made their dream of a multipurpose social science research facility a reality. You and your partner are currently located in Station Three, ‘The Swan’…

“Not long after the experiments began, however, there was… an incident. Since that time, the following protocol has been observed. Every 108 minutes, the button must be pushed. From the moment the alarm sounds, you will have four minutes to enter the code into the microcomputer processor… Do not attempt to use the computer for anything… Congratulations!”

John wins me back for a moment here by voicing my exact thought: “We’re gonna need to watch that again”. Jack, on the other hand, surprises me by how viscerally he rejects everything he just saw. The two men are incredulous at each other’s reaction to the film, and in this moment, I’m on John’s side. And ultimately, as much as he fights it, Jack is too.

The question that Jack furiously insists be answered isn’t even if the button is real, but why Desmond and John so readily believe that it is. When Jack first asks if Desmond really believes this is happening, he replies, “Why wouldn’t it be?” Sayid, who was brought down to the hatch to fix the broken computer that is still counting down, feels similarly: “All I need to know is that that timer is counting down to something, and that this computer needs to be repaired.” Jack is mystified by everyone else’s participation and pushes on:

“It says ‘Quarantine’ on the inside of the hatch to keep you down here, keep you scared. But you know what? We’ve been up there for over 40 days, and no one’s gotten sick. You think this is the only part of it that’s true? Did you ever think that they put you down here to push a button every 100 minutes, just to see if you would? That the computer, the button, it’s just a mind game? An experiment?”

While Desmond and Sayid fulfill what they see as an odd but important duty, John eats this whole thing up with a soup ladle in a different way. Desmond answers Jack’s question by admitting that he thinks about this possibility every single day, and even hopes that it’s true, but won’t risk blowing up the island. But just as John’s desire to open the hatch was clearly not rooted in saving the group, so too does he not push the button to save lives, but rather because he is confident that his pushing the button is part of his walk on a predestined divine path for which he will ultimately be rewarded.

Where Desmond and Sayid give the loyal, but reality-based responses of “I dunno about you, brother, but every time I walk past that wall out there, my fillings hurt,” and “I’m sure you’ll tell me why once I’ve [fixed the computer]”, John practically joins the Dharma Initiative right then and there:

JOHN: You saw the film, Jack. This is a two-person job, at least. It’s a leap of faith, Jack.

JACK: Some man takes you down here, shows you a movie, and you push a button on faith alone? Nothing is going to happen!

This is John’s worst quality, but I think at this moment it has a positive impact. Whatever John decides to do, the whole group has to do it. If he wants to push the button, everybody has the push the button. If he wants to stop, everyone has to stop. If he wants to stay on the island, he blows up the submarine so nobody can leave.

But at this moment in time, Jack needed to be put on the spot… and with seconds to spare, he pushes the button. Little does anybody know, Jack is actually the one on a divine path, and this is his first step on a journey that will end with him being the one adamant about destiny and what he’s “supposed” to do.

John seems like a man of conviction, but his belief system is actually incredibly fragile. I honestly just feel kind of sad for him, but my sympathies only go so far as he continues to make the same mistake over and over again. He puts all of his beliefs, faith, and livelihood into things outside of himself and is repeatedly left utterly lost when those things don’t care about him as much as he cared about them. On the mainland it was his father and the marijuana grow house community, on the island it was the hatch, the button, and then the nebulous character of “the island” itself. He’s the definition of a servant, and I appreciate what his ultimate fate suggests about living a life without independent thought.

In line with this behavioral pattern, John’s belief in the button, and subsequently his belief in himself, is shattered in 2.21, “?” (sick episode title also). In this episode, John begrudgingly helps a born-again Mr. Eko follow his dreams (literal dreams) to something he believes the island wants to show him. John’s impatience for anyone else’s faith-based escapades is another trait that annoys me, but it aligns perfectly with who he is- no one but him should be receiving any special treatment from the universe.

John and Eko discover yet another hatch (there are a few, it turns out), and yet another orientation film, not to mention a wall of screens that reveal that their hatch is under surveillance.

“Station 5, or The Pearl, is a monitoring station where the activities of participants in Dharma Initiative projects can be observed and recorded… your tour of duty in The Pearl will last three weeks, and during this time you will observe a psychological experiment in progress. Your duty is to observe team members in another station on the island. These team members are not aware they are under surveillance or that they are subjects of an experiment. What is the nature of the experiment, you might ask? What do these subjects believe they are accomplishing? All you need to know is the subjects believe their job is of the utmost importance. Each time a notebook is filled with the fruits of your diligent observation, roll it up and place it in one of the containers provided. Then simply place the container in the pneumatic tube and presto, it will be transported directly to us.”

This time, when Eko asks John if he’d like to see the film again, he most certainly does not. He’s completed deflated. Eko, interestingly, is invigorated, feeling more called to push the button now than ever. The possibility is raised that there’s no way to know how deep the layers of experimentation go- maybe the observers are in fact the ones being duped into a useless task. John doesn’t care anymore:

JOHN: I’m sorry, weren’t you just watching the same thing I was?

EKO: Yes, John, and I believe the work you have been doing is more important now than ever.

JOHN: What work?

EKO: Pushing the button.

JOHN: That’s not work. That’s a joke. Rats in a maze with no cheese.

EKO: It is work, John. We are being tested. The reason to do it, to push the button, is not because we are told to do so in a film.

JOHN: Oh, well, then, what is the reason, Mr. Eko?

EKO: We do it because we believe we are meant to. Isn’t that the reason you pushed it, John?

JOHN: I was never meant to do anything. Every second of my pathetic little life is as useless as that button. You think it’s important? You think it’s necessary? It’s nothing. It’s nothing. It’s meaningless. And who are you to tell me that it’s not?

This should have been an eye-opening moment for John. While I agree with Eko, John was also right about himself and had some important realizations- but not quite enough. He has had a pathetic little life, but that’s exactly because he is happy to be a rat, so long as there is cheese. While Desmond accepted his bleak life’s purpose of pushing a button forever to thanklessly save the world over and over with no expectation of getting anything in reward, John was only doing it because he believed some unknown entity would be pleased with him.

I don’t blame John for wanting to stop pushing the button here, but instead of refocusing his energy on finding what he is meant to do, he rededicates himself to making everyone else stop pushing the button. Where Jack had the attitude of “push it yourself”, John is full of spiteful rage and wants to let the timer run out to stick it to… the seemingly extinct Dharma Initiative? It’s unclear. But the group, particularly Eko, has now committed to pushing the button. They’ve started taking shifts, they’ve built a routine around it. “Live Together, Die Alone Part 2” is all about John and Eko’s battle over the button- and the looming question of it it's real.

As much as John’s behavior bothers me here, I absolutely love that we get a concrete answer to if the button is real- and we wouldn’t have had they never stopped pushing it. In “Live Together, Die Alone Part 2”, John barricades himself in the room with the button, bringing impenetrable walls down around him to ensure no one stops him from letting the timer run out. Eko, determined to push the button, gets more dynamite from The Black Rock (this becomes a common errand) to blow the doors open. He detonates the dynamite as the timer counts down, but it doesn’t have the desired effect and he doesn’t make it to the button.

The hatch starts to shake, metal flies across the room as electromagnetic energy escalates. They didn’t push the button, and something happened. The exact something that Desmond predicted. Now poring over the reports Eko brought back from the Pearl, Desmond frantically realizes that the one time he ever failed to push the button was the same day Oceanic 815 crashed on the island. While we’re warned throughout this show not to mistake coincidence for fate, everything happening in this moment confirms: not pushing the button crashed their plane. The button is real.

Desmond, who has a fail-safe key from his old Dharma companion, crawls through some tunnels to turn it, a self-sacrificing mission that sends the full release of electromagnetic energy inwards. The impact reverberates throughout the island, but only the hatch implodes. The presence of electromagnetism on the island and Desmond’s fateful missing of the button/inadvertent crashing of the plane will continue to be a driving force of Lost’s action, but this is the end of the hatch as we know it.

And perhaps most interestingly of all, no one really cares. The hatch had a shower, a washer/dryer, and multiple beds, all of which seemed to be rarely used. In fact, it seems that many of the survivors of Oceanic 815 never even went in it. The food stockpile Desmond was living off of was freely distributed to the camp with no attempt to ration it. No one bemoans returning to sleeping on a tarp and doing laundry in the waterfall. This attitude is telling. As much as some characters are adamant about getting off the island, the happenings here are much more significant than mere survival, and on some level, everybody knows that.

I love all of Lost, but the story of the hatch is easily the most compelling, and the ideas batted around in season two hold many of the show’s key takeaways, which are revealed more bluntly in season six.

On that note, I wish I had more to say about the show’s ultimate conclusion. I liked it!

I was compelled to watch this show because I found all the discourse surrounding the series’ controversial ending so interesting, but as I was promised by a friend, I found it emotionally fulfilling and sound. The finale is comparable to those of Six Feet Under, The Leftovers, and The Good Place, which is great company to be in, but I do think those other shows’ conclusions are a little stronger.

However, I think that has more to do with Lost’s middle than it does its end. Lost never lost me (haha), but I’ll admit the end of season four and beginning of season five was a little manic. For the show’s ultimate message to be something so ancient, spiritual, and utterly simple, they sure spent a lot of time filling my head with quantum physics and generations worth of interpersonal alliances and rivalries. I was still working out what exactly Ben Linus and Charles Widmore were fighting about when the show told me that they don’t really matter at all.

I love Lost’s finale more and more the longer I sit with it, but in the moment my head was so cluttered with timelines and science and the momentum of the mission in the that it was hard to really feel the full extent of its serenity. I’ll defend it vigorously today, but I wasn’t as stunned, mouth open while the credits rolled as I was with Six Feet Under, The Leftovers, and The Good Place.

All this to say, talk to me about Lost! I think it’s the most interesting thing in the world at the moment.

ARE YOU KITTEN ME?? - NISHIMURA RIKI

pairing: bf! riki x gn! reader

genre: fluff

summary: you adopt two kittens for you and riki to look after and now he won’t show you any attention :((

author’s notes: this is the first time i’m trying out a new layout for my writing!! also i’m so sorry i haven’t been active, i’ve been anxiously waiting for my a-level results (which i passed!!!) and then applying for university etc. and i’m also really sick so i’ve been sleeping this past week away not having chance to write anything.

it’d been a couple of days since riki had finished filming the paradoxxx invasion mv, and every day since then, he sent you picture and videos of the kittens.

it was his attempt at trying to persuade you to adopt a kitten on his behalf, not being able to adopt his own due to his band mates (annoying 🙄) allergies.

you replied to riki’s (un)convincing messages about adopting kittens, telling him that the pair of you were simply to busy to be adopting and looking after animals.

unbeknownst to him, you had already planned to adopt a kitten before he even met the ones on set, so all you had to do was phone up and alter some of the arrangements that had already been made.

in fact later that evening, you were due to meet with the owner of the litter that you were planning on adopting kittens from, to meet the kittens themselves and see which of them felt the most comfortable with you.

you told riki you were headed to another schedule and silenced any notifications from him to prevent spoiling anything.

when you arrived at the owners house, you spotted two kittens playing with each other towards the back of the litter.

one a tabby.

the other pure black.

immediately, you wanted to adopt the pair of them. too heartbreaking to separate the seemingly, best of friends. even when you sat down inside of the kitten pen (i don’t know what you actually call it 🤣) the pair came bounding over towards you, and jumped up on your lap, whilst the rest of the kittens were hesitating on the edge of the pen.

the behaviour of the two playful kittens just furthered the need to adopt them for you and riki, when you told the owner that you were going to adopt them, they were elated for you.

whilst they gathered all the paperwork and the basic necessities for the two kittens, you took a series of selcas with them to show to riki after you had taken them both home.

the owner handed you the paperwork for the kittens as well as the carrying crate and sent you on your way home. when you arrived home, you rushed to set up the kittens in your bedroom before texting riki that you had finally gotten home from your schedule.

hearing this news, he rushed to gather his things before heading to your apartment ready to spend his free night with you. he knew the code to your apartment and would just enter it when he finally arrived at your apartment so you quickly got changed in to some comfy clothes for lazing around in and began playing with the two kittens on your bedroom floor.

finally, you hear the chime of your door lock opening, followed by riki’s voice shouting in to the apartment. you replied to his shouts that you were in the bedroom and to come see you.

as he pushed on the door handle, the sound of the mechanism opening, startled the small kittens who cowered in your lap at the sudden noise.

he entered the room and was confused as to see you sat in the middle of the floor, that was until he saw the two little balls of fluff that were peeking out from behind your crossed legs.

he looked between you and the two kittens, almost comedically, a state of confusion visible on his face. that was until he put the pieces of the puzzles together, and came hurtling over to you and the kittens, a look of excitement on his face.

“whose are these kittens? where are they from? are they yours? did you adopt kittens?” riki rambled on in exhilaration, waiting for you to confirm the owners of the kittens.

“they’re ours riki! i adopted them earlier today when i told you i had to go for a schedule!! they don’t have names yet i was waiting until you got here to help me name them!! only if you want to though :(”

riki squealed at the idea of the pair of you being the proud parents to two new kittens. he reached his hands out slowly towards the kittens, allowing them to familiarise themselves with him and his scent. finally, he picked up the tiny creatures in his hands, and began rubbing his nose with theirs.

you couldn’t help but smile lovingly at your boyfriends interaction with the new addition to your family.

but at the same time you couldn’t help but feel slightly jealous at the fact your boyfriend was giving all his attention to two fluff balls instead of you :((

“Do you want me to take it from the top?” It seems as though when someone, this time Vision, steers away from the script, things either reset themselves or people become aware to some capacity, although Agnes probably already knows

Speaking of Growing Pains - It had a spin off called “Just the 10 of Us” in which the director for Wandavision, Matt Shakman, was apart of the cast - and seemingly also inspired the theme song for this week

We should definitely keep an eye on Monica and her potential for powers. With Maria last episode revealed to have gone by the name ‘Photon’ (which is a name that Monica uses as one of her aliases in the comics) and could inspire Monica’s name as she develops her powers - those scans didn’t look 100% normal. Monica has also used the Captain Marvel monicker in the comics

Wanda’s energy field and such being referred to as “Hex” short for Hexagon, could be a little nod to the comics where Wanda’s powers are sometimes called Hex powers

She’s never been referred to as the Scarlet Witch on the big screen - and it seems as though she soon may earn that code name

So we now know that Wanda stole Vision’s corpse from S.W.O.R.D, but did she actually re animate him fully? He’s still got the gem in the centre of his forehead, but the last time he had it was in Infinity War where it promptly got ripped out by Thanos - so has Wanda found her own way of reanimating him and he’s alive or is he dead and just a trick of the mind - though from other trailers/previews, Vis is seen trying to and looks successful at leaving Wanda’s barrier

They had a little call back to Captain America: Civil War with the Sokovia Accords, which were targeting the Avengers in general but were created when Wanda lost control of her powers and killed civilians

A little joke towards Vis as playing “Father Knows Best” in their little suburbia - Which was a sitcom that ran for 200 episodes in the 50’s

Sparky ! A little nod to the little green dog from the Walta and King comics run for Vision and unfortunately soon meets the same fate 💔

A little nod to Endgame when we hear from Monica that Wanda definitely could’ve taken down Thanos by herself had Thanos not rained fire - and Jimmy arguing that Captain Marvel could’ve just as easily done it - which leaves Monica with an angry look on her face

Can Vis “save” the residents of Westview? He can still seemingly interact with people’s minds, with or without the mind stone - Norm soon comes out of his trance as Vis snaps him out of it and asks to call his sister and that he has to save them all from “her” - now this “her” could be Wanda...but it could also be Agnes and then Vis shuts him down soon enough again and Norm goes back to his sit com self

Billy and Tommy are fully aware, or at least suspect Wanda’s abilities - after asking her to bring back Sparky from the dead and speaking of Billy and Tommy - could they be semi permanent fixtures in the MCU, it would help to introduce the Young Avengers eventually. They'll do Young Avengers at some point since Kang is supposed to be a thing in the third Ant-Man.

Teddy, unfortunately, I don't think will be here for a bit (I really hope he is though!). I think the guy they hired that everyone is rumoring to be Teddy might just be an episode about Billy coming to terms with his sexuality and Wanda and Vis learning to accept it in the way that era of tv they're in would go about with that kind of episode and the dude is just a dude - but again, I really hope it’s Teddy 😭

Wanda leaves the hex after a mini missile/plane tries to shoot at her - and she’s in her Scarlet Witch costume and is seemingly mostly back to her “normal self”, which includes her accent !

Lagos brand paper towels - “For when you make a mess you didn’t mean to” - a nod to Civil War again in which Wanda accidentally blew up a building in Lagos and caused the Sokovian accords to come to fruition

The mail man again - I also think he was in the commercial but anywho - “Your mom won’t let him go far” similar to “Much like she won’t let anyone leave” a potential nod to Wanda or Agnes not letting anyone leave?

“We can’t reverse death” and yet she brought Vision back - keeping in mind that he’s an android but still a little foreshadow to what happened at the end of the ep? Better yet, could Pietro coming back be a distraction for Wanda? Agnes or whoever introducing someone that Wanda lives in hopes that she won’t go full on breakdown superpowers or just to give her an attachment to Westview even more and make her not want to leave at all

“She recasted Pietro” EVAN ! I’m so pumped for this - it seems this could turn into the X-Men making their debut earlier than expected possibly? In any case, it’s a nice little Easter Egg to the previous Fox franchise of X-Men movies where Evan played Peter Maximoff “Quicksilver” alongside James McAvoy as Prof X, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and so many others - and with Deadpool being confirmed as Disney’s first R rated film, it seems Mutants are definitely on their way to the MCU

During Monica’s callbacks to seeing Wanda’s pain inside her head, we see a new shot of Wanda crying - it looks like it’s around the time she stole Vision’s corpse, as the outfit she’s wearing is very similar, if not the same - could this be an after shot of when she’s trying to bring Vision back?

During the scene where we see the footage of Wanda stealing Vision’s corpse, the S.W.O.R.D logo that appears on the table has 8 stars around the rim of the logo but then has a 9th one in the middle - could this be a little Easter Egg to the nine realms of the Cosmos? And there’s also a map showing Cape Canaveral, could that be where S.W.O.R.D’s headquarters are?

Wanda and Pietro were born in 1989 to Irina and Oleg Maximoff - who were killed in an air raid when the twins were 10. In the comics, Wanda and Pietro were raised by Django and Maria Maximoff, before their true parentage was revealed as being the children of Magneto, however, in the comics this has been retconned so that Wanda and Pietro are no longer Mutants and the High Evolutionary had just disguised them as Mutants (something I think they should undo tbh - MARVEL, PLEASE MAKE WANDA AND PIETRO MUTANTS AGAIN!!!)

Speaking of the air raid, that was also referenced in Age of Ultron by Pietro and Wanda - “We were 10 years old, having dinner the four of us. And the first shell hits 2 floors below, makes a hole in the floor” - was the beeping Stark toaster be what that was referring to?

WHIH reappears for a brief cameo as the news service in the MCU - and Hayward cuts off Jimmy as he was trying to defend Wanda’s reputation, in which Jimmy then turns to Darcy and says “I try not to speak ill of people” Darcy then follows up with “Then allow me, Hayward’s a-“ and then she’s cut off by a shot back to Hayward saying the word “Terrorist” which would make sense as it seems with Vision’s corpse, he may have been trying to make sentient weapons and by subverting Vision’s will and blaming Wanda of doing the same. In the footage shown of Wanda stealing Vision’s remains, we see Vision broken up into parts and S.W.O.R.D seems to be experimenting on him and this seems to be the robotics/nanotech project that Hayward was referring to. Monica asks Hayward about the footage saying “When was this?” to which Hayward replies saying “9 days ago. Maximoff stormed our facility, stole Vision’s body and resurrected him” - this would mean that Wanda took Vision 2 weeks after the events of Endgame, about a week before Monica returned to S.W.O.R.D and Hayward didn’t tell her any of this and when he sent her in there, he knew exactly what he was doing - with her reputation after Civil War, this makes it easier for Hayward to paint her as the villain.

Back in Westview, Tommy wears red and Billy wears green - which are the colours that Wiccan and Speed wear in the comics, respectively. And it’s also the colours that Wanda and Vision are known for and appears quite a lot in their wardrobes

More in regards to Sparky, he was the synthezoid dog in Tom King’s run of Vision - the story being that he was originally a dog named Zeke who unfortunately passed away after digging up the Grim Reaper’s corpse and getting zapped. The Grim Reaper’s helmet appears during the title sequence of Episode 2 in the floorboards. Could Sparky have been trying to dig up a similar thing when he was caught by Agnes and consequently killed?

Monica mentions that she knows this aerospace engineer, they’re never shown but she is seen texting them. Could it be Reed Richards a.k.a Mr Fantastic? Hayward did mention that some astronauts used to work for S.W.O.R.D before a mission went haywire - though it seems a bit lacklustre to introduce such highly anticipated characters this way. Could it instead be the Skrull daughter of Talos that Monica befriended at the end of Captain Marvel? She mentioned that they had extraterrestrial allies in episode 4 working with her and Fury as apart of S.W.O.R.D - in the Spanish subtitles they use the feminine articles for this engineer - so I think it’s more likely to be Talos’s daughter

The board that we saw in Episode 4 now includes the mailman, drivers license and all - could he be Jimmy’s missing witness?

The tension in the room after Jimmy references Carol is similarly seen when in Spider-Man: Far From Home, where Peter asks Skrull Fury/Talos “How about Captain Marvel?” To which Talos replies “Don’t involve her name”. Fury, Monica and Talos were all on the side of the Skrulls by then end of Captain Marvel and the space station that Fury was on maybe apart of S.W.O.R.D. So did Carol betray them?

A slight reference to Captain America: The First Avenger is made when Monica pulls a Peggy Carter and shoots at something to see if it’s bulletproof, in Peggy’s case it was the iconic Captain America shield and in the case of Monica, it was her clothes that she was wearing after Wanda threw her out of the Hex

Abilash (Norm) never states that Wanda is the one that Vision has to save them from, it’s just “her” - could this instead be Agnes?

When Billy is training Sparky to sit, he puts the treat by his ear up to his temple - a future reference that Billy will one day share the same powers as his mum?

During the scene in which Wanda leaves the Hex briefly, she turns the guns onto Hayward but none are trained on Monica - she may still trust Monica slightly, whereas with Hayward, she slightly more pissed off because of what he was doing to Vision’s remains. And turning a bunch of guns on the people you don’t trust? Like father, like daughter as Magneto pulls a similar move in one of the X-Men films - Hopefully, the big cameo they keep teasing will be Ian McKellan as Magneto or the Magnus of this House of M adaptation

During when Agnes “found” Sparky, she says he died from eating too many leaves from her plants - in the Tom King Vision run, one of Vision’s kids ends up killing Sparky and sees inside his stomach that there’s a plant that Agatha Harkness grows in her garden

All the names that appear during the credits that Wanda tries to run to end the show and to stop Vision from talking are names of people who work on the actual Wandavision show itself

When Evan Peter’s version of Quicksilver shows up, he says “Does a long lost bro get to squeeze his sister to death or what?” I DO NOT TRUST THIS PIETRO - Similar to Wandavision, the Fox X-Men movies moved up decade by decade - First Class was in the 1960s, Days of Future Past was in the 1970s, Apocalypse was in the 1980s and Dark Phoenix was in the 1990’s - which would make even more sense as MCU! Pietro wasn’t born until 1989, whereas Peter was active during the 1980s. I reckon that this Pietro is Jimmy’s missing witness, Agnes’s husband Ralph and is disguising itself as a comforting presence to Wanda as Vision no longer brings comfort and is trying to bring Wanda back to reality - and when he shows up, the mirror in the background behind Wanda is slightly distorted but his hand looks red and in the shot as well, there seems to be a grey arm reaching towards Pietro - in the shot itself behind and in front of Wanda, there’s nothing there but in the mirror, there is! Either way, I do not trust this Pietro and it’s just an entity trying to give Wanda the last thing that could make her happy - but it won’t last, as everything is already breaking down around her.

ignoring the fact that they sound like a married couple arguing, mike and will are also bickering over whether or not el and mike are still together. it was written in the script, rehearsed, performed, and kept in the final cut that will OUTRIGHT SAYS “she said she dumped your ass, that doesn’t sound like a break.” and max yells “it wasn’t!” :@;$:@/&$:&:??!?! they literally said they’re not endgame. they aren’t endgame.

i KNOW right! Based on the s4 movies I think things are reversed and it’s El who can’t accept they are broken up. A lot of films said to inspire s4 have ex gfs refuse to accept the break up -one even hits on her gay ex-bf ( ‘birdcage’ ). Similar scenario in ‘clueless’ with girl hinting on gay guy who just wants to be friends. Max in s3 having to correct El that Mike is her “ ex boyfriend” and Will saying “that doesn’t sound like a break”. And Max agreeing “it wasn’t!” is foreshadowing they never actually got back together. IT WASN’T A BREAK! But El may not accept this.

It’s similar, to the random telemarketing joke where they had Mike say on the phone “El, sorry not interested “ and hang up . It was foreshadowing.

In the films the exes constantly call . Mike telling El “i’ll call so often you’ll have to turn your walkie off” was also foreshadowing of what Mike will do to her in s4. Since ,he hung up on her in s3 when she called demanding to know where he was at 9:30 in the morning. In ‘swingers’ the guy name mike (whose friends call him ‘gay’) hangs up on his ex gf who wants to get back together . He hangs up on her so he can talk to his new love interest (Will) . Specifically, Hangs up on his ex as she says “I love-“. Then in ‘splash’ he breaks up with his gf on the phone and says “do I love you?well what about you?” To dodge the question (then yells at a family member ease dropping on the other line -Karen). And they break up on the phone. And he tells a friend later he never loved her.

2 movies the ex says they’ll get back together and their new relationships are “just phases” etc ( waynes world, high fidelity, dumb and dumber). Saying they’re still together when they aren’t (wayne’s world). Loads of movies had the crazy ex sabotage new relationships, call constantly, stalk, and flirt despite the exes discomfort and repeatedly saying it’s over (despite the ex not loving them and just be possessive and not wanting them with other people).

The exes are cray in the films (el stalking and never apologizing for spying. And mileven dancing to the song ‘every breath you take’ a song about a stalker ex who doesn’t take no for an answer -after their ex hooks up with their friend, wasn’t a coincidence). Along with El watching ‘days of our lives’ where she mimicked erica who was in a relationship with Mike roy. And it ended messy with one of them sabotaging their new relationship, stalking them, and claiming the stalking victim still loved them. (Although, they eventually accepted that wasn’t true).

El stalked Mike in s2 (all that stuff milevens found romantic- El watching him without him knowing. Mike said he was not ok with it in s3). And in s3 (like the song) she stalks him after their breakup, and when he said not to do that she just says ‘i make my own rules’. I think s4 shows just how ‘un-cute’ this behavior can get.

I’ve already talked about that awkward kiss scene to death. But i think it indicates Mike assumes they’re broken up and el assumes they’re back together.

FIrst he LIED AGAIN (the cause of the breakup)- and pretended he didn’t confess to her at the end of s3. And never said “ I love you’ back! He even tries to take the words back and says about the prior love confession “ “Oh! Oh, yeah that.Man, that was so long ago. Um…” and starts to scratch his head and says everything he said at the cabin was “in the heat of the moment stuff and we were arguing…”

They even frame the scene right before the kiss strangely, making El look larger and imposing, as she approaches. Mike feels cornered (you the viewer subconsciously are supposed to feel claustraphobic/trapped/cornered/stuck along with Mike).

We see him furrow his brows (uncomfortable and confused ) when El initiates the romantic moment, saying “I love you too.”

And cue most awkward kiss in history- where he keeps his eyes open the whole time and doesn’t kiss back. (In Will’s room, mike in front of an open closet, as el holds Will’s s1 bear.)

During the kiss, the song ‘the first i love you ‘played. The only other time they played that song in s3, was when Robin rejects Steve’s romantic confession and she comes out as gay . Interesting choice for that awkward mileven kiss/confession shown later where El says she loves Mike (and mike keeps his eyes open, doesn’t kiss back or return the ‘I love you’). It’s foreshadowing of Mike rejecting El (in the future) cause he’s gay.

We even see El’s reaction first (happy, smiling and giddy). Assuming they’re back together. But then we blur the screen to see Mike’s opposing expression. He looks confused, bewildered and even furrows his brows again.

Then we see El initiating all the romantic stuff outside.El seems to be the one trying to make it romantic- like Mike hugging el and lucas with one arm identically (hand on their upper back), but El caresses his chest.

And as Mike stops the hug El shoves his head into hers (it actually looked like it hurt honestly XD)

the byler centric ending with the Hopper monologue reinforces this theme. Mike while looking at both cars driving away was thinking of Will . They show this by having Mike be sad as Will drives away (alone) twice as Mike sadly watches him leave- this was done to show that he’s actually upset the 2 later times where Will and El leave at the same time -because of Will. I showed it in one of my vids here, at 23:11

When we first see Mike during the Hopper monologue , it continues to pan to only Mike and Will (not El) cause what he says is mostly about them. “I’ve been feeling distant from you. Like you’re pulling away from me or something” (Will does this both figuratively/literally). I miss playing board games every night (d &d)”. Then Mike looks back at the Byers house (he just lingers there and looks back as his friends leave without him) like how Will turned to watch Mike leave and hold hands with El (as the crew go up the hill without Will). “But I know you’re getting older, growing, changing. And I guess, if I’m being really honest, that’s what scares me. I don’t want things to change.”

It pans to both of them on “i don’t want things to change’ cause that’s how they both feel. Mike , ‘doesn’t want things things to change’. He doesn’t want their friendship to change as they ‘get older’ because he’d have to and acknowledge his feelings for Will are romantic and if he’s “being honest” that “scares” him (especially in rural 80s conservative-Indiana at the height of the aids epidemic). Why we see Mike trying to act like a adult while dating El, and Will trying to act like a kid- they’re both trying to escape growing up to be gay in different ways. Will reverting to childhood activities and saying he’ll ‘never fall in love’ (after his double date with lumax). And Mike trying to act like “old people’ saying “we’re not kids anymore... what did you expect that we’d never get girlfriends?” Cause he equates straight romance with being an adult and his feelings for Will as something he has to grow out of . Which he learns in the very end isn’t possible.

Right after that scene it switches from Will crying, to Mike entering his house. His face is visibly red from crying and he looks shocked (almost as if he realized something) before he hugs his mom- to mirror the time he thought Will died in s1.

And the dialogue in this scene says “So I think maybe that’s why I came in here, to try and maybe stop that change. To turn back the clock. To make things go back to how they were.” He goes back to his mother for comfort, like he did the 1st time he lost Will. But also to reverse back time, to s1, before he realized his feelings for Will are romantic. When things were simple. I think the last episode is when Mike truly realizes he’s been in love with Will this entire time and he can’t fix it and transfer his feelings for Will on to el (something he’s been trying to do all of s3). El said he loved him and he felt nothing-and he was heartbroken over Will leaving (not El). Which is why he just seems almost shocked/numb as he’s processing this fact. This whole scene only showed Mike and Will transitions- el was never there, cause Mike wasn’t upset over her.

In the last ep (in s3) Mike mirrors the scene in s1, hugging his mom, since he feels like he’s losing Will all over again. In s1 the romantic/queer coded lyric from the song ‘We can be heroes’ plays as he hugs his mom “And we kiss as though nothing could fall. And the shame.”. And during the s3 move (‘we can be heroes’) plays again! And David Bowie wrote this song and Jonathan even said to Will in his ‘being a freak is the best speech’ “who would you rather be friends with David bowie (a queer singer) or Kenny Roggers?”

It’s why finn wolfhard after s3 liked this byler pic. cause s3 was all about Will and Mike denying their feelings for each other.

Not to mention,After s1 Finn quoted the Duffers saying Mike thought of El as a “puppy’ (dart) or “et” , and then said Mileven was a “first summer love thing”- foreshadowing mileven’s downfall during the Summer (aka s3). He repeats this “first summer love” phrase 2x. Millie when he mentioned what the duffers said rightfully thought the puppy thing was “awful”, but Finn was clearly told mileven doesn’t last -very early on- and most likely the Duffers told him “it’s like a first summer love thing”.Summer love” by definition fails-as it only lasts during the summer.

You tuck your phone back in your purse under your desk and get back to the email you’re supposed to be typing up. Having to concentrate doesn’t help your mood any, head throbbing and your back aching both in the middle from your crappy office chair and in the lower part from Mother Nature.

Just as your phone buzzes by your foot, a cramp seizes your belly and radiates throughout your pelvis. Grayson hearts the message, and you sink back into your chair with a sigh. Just the thought of not having to trudge into Target or CVS after you leave the office is enough to alleviate some of your stress. You check the time and realize you only have an hour until you’re home in a bath, with no pants on, and your heating pad ready in bed with Grayson as well. An hour seems doable now.

You make your half hour commute home in a record 22 minutes, desperate to get out of your work clothes and into one of Gray’s oversized t-shirts. You saw the Porsche in your guest spot in your apartment garage, so you know he’s here when you kick the door shut behind you. “Gray?”

“In the bathroom!” His voice is muffled but comes distinctly from your room. You hang up your keys and toss your bag on the kitchen island, kicking off your heels lazily by the door before following the now audible sound of the bath running.

You stop dead when you turn into the bathroom, shocked to see your tub already halfway full, the tampons and pads you requested sitting neatly on the counter next to one of his faded Cub Sport shirts, and the distinct color and smell of the Lush intergalactic bath bomb (your favorite) wafting from the steaming water.

“Gray-son,” you whine, throwing your face into your hands as your throat swells up and tears prickle behind your eyes. You hear him chuckle before you feel his arms wrap tightly around you. He presses a lingering kiss to your hair as he strokes your lower back gently, his touch and the heat of his hand providing an instant modicum of relief to the dull ache there.

“What?” he says quietly. He moves in front of you and untucks your shirt, removing your hands from your face so he can drop a sweet little kiss to your nose as he unbuttons the top two of your blouse. “Is it too much?”

You shake your head and open your eyes to look at the pretty hazel of his own. “It’s perfect. I’m just a hormonal mess.”

He laughs again and kisses your lips softly this time. “If you want your fries, I’ll make them while you soak.”

You nod, and he leaves you with another kiss before shutting the door behind him to give you your privacy.

The bath is amazing, the sparkly blue water relaxing some of the tension in your body and alleviating some of your pain, and you’re almost sad to get out, but you’re starving and the cravings are real.

You re-enter your bedroom to find heaven on earth: Grayson, shirtless in your bed and scrolling through Netflix on your TV; a steaming plate of fries with a mountain of ketchup already squirted out for you; and each bag of goodies you requested already sitting on your nightstand, one of which catches you by surprise.

“Holy shit, they make this?” you ask incredulously, picking up the giant three-and-a-half pound bag of watermelon sour patch as you slip into bed with him.

This is the only time you ever allow yourself to eat in bed, and you don’t catch his reply as you instantly seize the plate of fries and dig in, moaning loudly as the taste graces your tongue. He selects The Office on Netflix while you chew. He really knows you too well.

While Grayson takes your half-empty plate back to the kitchen once you’re done, you help yourself to a couple of the Milano cookies until he returns. You offer him a smile, which he returns happily as he sinks back into bed with you.

“Feeling a little better, baby?”

You roll up the bag and nod, coaxing him to lie down with you as you turn onto your side. He settles close behind you as you situate your heating pad across your abdomen, and he puts his arm across it to keep it in place for you. Space heater that he is, he’s creating a similar effect against your aching back, and it’s the most comfort you could possibly feel while you bleed out of your vag.

He’s made you forget about the work fiasco completely, and you cuddle into his warmth. “Thanks again, Gray. Seriously, you’re unreal.”

He nuzzles into your hair and smiles against the back of your neck. “Anytime. I mean, once a month. But anytime.”

ACNH: Emidori Island

This is the tumblr that will chronicle my soothingly mundane days spent on Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Shortly after I began working from home due to the pandemic, I decided to get a Switch - mostly for the sake of playing ACNH. I didn’t want to splurge on the full system though, so I got the Switch Lite - I managed to find the very last one available at my local Target - and even in my choice color of yellow! You can see my ACNH passport as my blog banner image, shows my start date and all that.

So I’m Lora. I’ve named my island Emidori - it’s a combination of the Japanese words for “smile” (emi) and “green” (midori). It’s a name I made up years ago when writing a story about a Shinto priestess whose shrine is dedicated to a juniper kami by that name.

So here’s me at the Emidori airport, where you can see the flag I designed. Looks weird maybe, but I think it looks “flag”ish, if you know what I mean - kinda like something you’d see on an old-timey heraldic crest. The inspiration - since Emidori is named for a happy green juniper tree spirit - is a tree with roots showing, its canopy made out of hearts. The blue and yellow bands at the side are just there because I thought the design looked too plain without it.

Here’s the layout of Emidori currently. We’ve come a long way since April! On my island (left-right, top-bottom) are Leopold, my roommate Deanna, Whitney, Biff, Huck, Shari, Broffina, Stu, Tucker, Piper, and Alice. Biff and Shari were my first neighbors. I’ve also had Portia and Audie (edit: and Bea! I knew I was forgetting someone; edit again: AND KNOX, geez, there really have been a lot!), who have moved away. My roommate and I have dibs on our favorite neighbors who, no matter what, are never going to be advised to leave. Her favorite right now is Shari.

My favorite is Biff - which is unusual for me. I don’t usually like the jock types because I’m not really into fitness and they so often have those angry eyebrows that I don’t find cute. But he’s so fun and enthusiastic and encouraging. And I think in ways he reminds me of my boyfriend, because though my bf is not a jock, he is fitness-minded and likes to be active and tries to encourage me to be too. I’ll often screenshot Biff’s dialogue or letters and show them to my bf later and we’ll have a good giggle over them.

Here’s the outside of my house. I have the main room and two side rooms at the moment. I’m a little behind my friends and family as far as house development because a lot of time and money was going toward redoing the layout of the town - moving every island building into the arrangement that we have now. But I’m happy with the results.

I have a basic personal garden - hyacinth have a nice rainbow-range of colors, and I do like having grass to run around on and put furniture on. My roommate carpets almost every inch of her property in flowers - it’s quite a sight to see! But that will come later.

Pool, picnic table, and pizza oven seem a pretty ideal yard to me. There’s also an exercise bike out of frame to the left. I do that when I play Sims too - I like the idea of using exercise equipment like that outdoors. I put the clothesline in because I think it gives a homey feel.

This is the main room of my house, doubling as a bedroom and living room at the moment. I like to coordinate furniture, but I also like to take advantage of pieces I think are super cool, even if they don’t match everything else.

That Girl with the Pearl Earring is a fake. I give the real ones to the museum, but I am actually equally happy getting fakes because then I feel more free to put them in my home. And from here, you can’t really tell it’s fake anyway.

I was ABSURDLY EXCITED to find that hamster in the store on one of my first days playing. I didn’t know there’d be pets of any kind besides the critters you can catch. And since I have guinea pigs IRL, the hamster is a great addition to my home :D His name is Mori, after my one boy piggie. (I have four girl piggies).

The pinball machine I got recently, and it’s extra cool to me, because it’s a baseball pinball machine. My bf and I go to these conventions where they have rooms full of pinball machines and arcade cabinets that are free unlimited play with price of ticket, and the baseball pinball is my favorite! And even more appropriate: it was a gift from Biff.

That’s the highest level workbench I have at the moment. My roommate has the bigger design, but this one is fine for me right now with the space that I have. (That phonograph is faced the wrong way around so that I see it from the front every time I enter the house).

I turned my first expansion into a kitchen. I’d already been collecting every cool kitchen gadget I could find. And I always like the idea IRL of a yellow kitchen, so that’s the basic theme I went with. I’m REALLY anxious to get more food items. I have so many fun food items in Pocket Camp, and virtually zero in NH.

I only just last week got the Cutting Board and Ironwood Dresser recipes. I have had the Ironwood Kitchenette recipe for months now, but hadn’t been able to make it until just recently.

(That’s a vacuum to the left in picture two. And I don’t care that the boombox is blue, because I can’t even see it when I walk in the room anyway.)

The bathroom is the most recent addition to my house. It’s slightly eclectic, but I think the colors all look nice together. Yes, that is wedding flooring and wallpaper, and yes the toilet rug is made of cherry blossom petals. And that gold rose is from my roommate - she’s got a ton of black roses and has recently been trying her gold watering can on them.

#BigStory: How REAL are our reality shows ?

Indian audience loves to watch reality shows – lockdown or no lockdown. But, has the time come to call out the shows on Indian television that are hiding under the garb of reality? Are they really real, and if yes, then to what extent?

ETimes TV deep dives into the compelling questions around reality shows and puts them across to an array of people from the entertainment industry.

Senior TV producer and veteran Bollywood actor Manoj Kumar’s cousin, Manish Goswami who has produced more than 35 shows over the last 27 years- ‘Daraar’, ‘Adhikar’, ‘Aashirwad’, ‘Kartavya, ‘Milan’ and ‘Kittie Party’ to name a few, says, “In India, reality shows are scripted. They are scripted to an extent that they become viewer-friendly. The target audience has been identified and they are given what they’re waiting for. The makers want to get all the expressions in a 45-60 minute capsule and the viewer-excitement quotient is kept in mind. But I don’t think that this happens abroad as they are very strict there.”

Foreign reality TV shows — be it American Idol, Big Brother or any other reality show – the authenticity, transparency and accountability is far higher than in the Indian formats. No twist and turn is made for melodrama. The format is followed to the T. No creative person’s contribution is over-ruled or modified once it is locked. This in turn implies that each contributor’s work is respected and think of it, shouldn’t it be?

Goswami also points out that the beneficiaries of such shows are few and far between. “Public memory is short, here. After their victories or promising performances, the participants are forgotten. Koi ek-aadh ubhar ke aata hai.”

But this was not the case earlier. Sunidhi Chauhan, Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Bigg Boss 14’s Rahul Vaidya and a few others are all products of reality shows.

Saroj Khan was asked to favour some contestants, claims daughter Sukaina

Legendary Saroj Khan’s daughter Sukaina tells ETimes TV that her mother, after judging some reality shows had stopped accepting them. Sukaina says, “They wanted my mother to favour some contestants because those contestants were paying them. ‘ Isko first rakho, usko second rakho.’ Mom, who was always a blunt person and took a stand against the wrongs around her, said she would rather stand by her ethics than do such biased projects.”

The channel airing ‘Bigg Boss’ not too long ago had offered the show to non-controversial J D Majethia, Chairman of the TV and web wing, Indian Film and TV Producer- on more than one occasion.

“I don’t know about you but I am definitely amused. Emphasising that ‘Bigg Boss’ or ‘Splitsvilla‘ or ‘Roadies‘ cannot give any acting offers because acting is not judged by how you fight or throw plates or mouth abuses, Majethia says, “Arre Juhi Parmar (Season 5) and Urvashi Dholakia (Season 6) getting shows after ‘Bigg Boss’ because they won it? Certainly not. They are getting work because they have a good track record as far as their body of work goes.”

According to Majethia, “The 2-year contracts with the channel can make lives. Look at Rahul Vaidya (who is now also in ‘Bigg Boss 14’). Uski toh life ban gayi after he appeared in ‘Indian Idol, Season 1’. Till today, he earns well from his shows and some of the shows he does are on big platforms with Sonu Nigam!”

Aashka Goradia, however, feels that reality shows work worldwide and this is simply because “people enjoy seeing other people’s misfortune, which is a psychological problem.”

You get paid to tarnish your image: Dolly Bindra former Bigg Boss contestant

Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya, who was being chased to become a judge, has turned down many reality shows. Hinting that the music contests look all similar, Acharya also laments that the dancing on Indian television is not something that he offers in the Bollywood films where his services are required. ” Woh shows meri dance se alag hain,” he clarifies.

Dolly Bindra says that a lot of filmmakers chased her even to Delhi where she was shooting soon after she came out of ‘Bigg Boss 4’. “But those were short term gains and I got really typecast after that. Everybody wanted me to play a negative role. Dolly does not regret doing ‘Bigg Boss’ but comes up with a very hard-hitting line, “We are paid on such shows to tarnish our image.”

Producer of shows like ‘Ace of Space‘ and ‘Code Red’ Vikas Gupta, who was also seen in ‘Bigg Boss 13′, disagrees, “If the contestants are careful, I don’t see how a show can tarnish their image? The belief that reality shows tarnish your image is false,’ he tells ETimes TV.

Meanwhile, Koena Mitra, who was quite annoyed when she was eliminated from ‘Bigg Boss 13’ in two weeks, is still calling a spade a spade. “Reality shows on Indian television will always work. People like chaos and debates and the bursting of the bubble. A lot of people who’re inside the show end up doing things that they shouldn’t be doing. The viewers in turn become curious if they can see anything lower than that. They may not even like it and in fact, dislike it. So it’s a win-win situation for TV producers.”

Aashka Goradia has also mellowed down from the day when she lashed out at the ‘Bigg Boss Season 6’ show when she felt that it had painted her as a lesbian as she applied balm on co-contestant Sana Khan’s back and now says that the people who hate the show would do well to stay away from it rather than complain.

“I think ‘Bigg Boss woh shaadi wala ladoo hai jo khao toh bhi pachtao aur nahi khao toh bhi pachtao’. But can I tell you something? Today, our reality shows are more real than the people who are entering it.”

These shows, however, somehow make the youngsters’ adrenaline flow. 28-year-old Chetna Pande, who participated in ‘Ace of Space’ says, “No, our reality shows are not scripted. In such shows, our real personality comes out sooner or later. The people connect with you better than before, your followers on social media increase. You can get work in the form of appearances- like look at Divya Agarwal and Varun Sood for one. Shruti Sinha and Baseer Ali also are doing well. Post ‘Ace of Space’, I got ‘Class of 2020’ and then I also did a web show.”

Pratik Sehajpal, ex-boyfriend of Bigg Boss 14 contestant Pavitra Punia, who was the runner-up to Divya Agarwal in ‘Ace of Space’, endorses Chetna’s views with an explanation, “An increase in your social media popularity is invariable but I am clear that reality shows are not scripted. It’s only for some contestants who come with a pre-conceived idea that they need to exhibit a certain image that one tends to get an impression that the show is manipulated; they get dramatic and percolate a feeling that the shows have a rigid script.”

Are wedding theme shows a hoax ?

‘Mujhse Shaadi Karogi’s’ 29-year-old Ankita Srivastava is also not against reality shows but quite positive about them as ‘MSK’ helped her to gain a lot of followers on social media. Ankita says, “Despite having a verified account, I had only 24K followers on Instagram. When I exited the show, I had 100K. And now, I have 174K followers. Also, our reality shows help us to look at ourselves clearly, we have many fixed ideas in our heads but participating in reality shows makes you realise that some or maybe even many of those ideas are misplaced.”

22-year-old Shivani Jha, who was a part of ‘MSK’ before it ended abruptly owing to COVID-19, says, “I had heard that reality shows are all scripted but after ‘MSK’, I certainly don’t endorse that opinion. I had it clear in my mind that I was going into the show to not get married but to just be seen on TV.”

Lack of originality

Dalljiet Kaur, former contestant of Bigg Boss 13, who has participated in Nach Baliye earlier says earlier it was not the case – sobs and tears were real but not any longer. “Nach Baliye; ‘aaj audiences know ki ek couple ka break-up hoga hi hoga‘. When I did ‘Nach Baliye’ in 2008 (Season 4), I remember how petrified we were when Farah Khan, Arjun Rampal and Karisma Kapoor actually walked out, when I couldn’t be ready for two dances in one go as I hadn’t got time due to my constant shoots of two shows wherein I was playing the leads. Back then, we had actually cried and apologised to Farah, Arjun and Karisma. But does that happen in real nowadays, isn’t all such done to shoot up the TRPs? In today’s times, the public almost knows what is going to happen next.”

She further says: “Coming to ‘Bigg Boss 14’, Nikki Tamboli saying inside the house that she can’t wash the utensils because of her acrylic nails was such a pre-planned statement and so was her statement that she’s missing her BF and hence wants to wear his T-shirt. So, what’s original? Nothing. Trust me, Paras Chhabra had advised me to break a ‘matki’ as that would help me to draw attention – but I did not. If I had stayed longer, who knows I too might have learnt a few tricks of the trade.”

Anup Jalota has something similar to say. He comes in to give an example of how hungry the participants are to get the camera on themselves. “When I was in ‘Bigg Boss’ (Season 12 ), Sreesanth would climb up so many times and threaten to jump out.”

Referring to Dalljiet’s point of view that contestants smartly prepare their portrayals to get more on-screen footage, we ask Jalota how he felt when Jasleen Matharu used his name in ‘Bigg Boss 12’ and said that they were in a relationship when they were about to step into the house, but Jalota brushed it off, saying, “Mere andar gusse ka element bilkul absent hai.”

Not to forget the maara-maari in ‘Roadies’ and ‘Splitsvilla’, Neha Dhupia had said when a person is judging a reality TV show, statements are made, misrepresented and taken out of context. In April this year, Neha made quite some noise about a ‘bola kuch aur, dikhaya kuch aur’ incident. “Unfortunately, a small chunk of what I said in ‘Roadies’ was kind of highlighted, whereas what I was trying to imply was the fact that under no circumstances is domestic violence okay and therefore I think only half of it was picked up,” she had lamented. Dhupia had a harrowing time as she was mercilessly trolled. But did she speak to the channel in question, MTV? We only saw her carrying on with the next episode. Hope the channel apologised to her, preferably in writing!

All said and done, it is clear that extreme reactions and high-drama on Indian reality shows grab eyeballs, irrespective of the damage they may cause!

Stakes are high and moral values and reputations not cared about. It’s not the survival of the fittest but the survival of someone who has the ability to impress his superiors at work even if that tantamounts to crushing someone’s reputation. And of course, sabse bada rupaiya! Wonder if there will ever come a day when reality shows become truly REAL !

Mistake, Heartbreak, Hoping She’ll Wake - Hi Stolowitski x Claybourne!Reader

A/N: A little bit of a different format to celebrate the fact that I’ve never really had a request before! It’s more organised this way so I can say what I wanna say, I’m stealing the format from my other blog.

Request: “Hey, can you write a Hiram x reader? (Reader and Hiram are bf and gf) Where the @ gamemaster tries to hurt the reader and she almost dies and ends up in the hospital. Warnings: Language - “damn”, “bastard”, and I think at least three (3) uses of the Lord’s name in vain, which might offend some people. Also, firearms mentions. Kidnapping. Blood mentions. It’s somewhat violent. Don’t read this to your kids, please. Just a bad idea.

Word Count: 4,008 (I usually don’t add that but damn I wanted you to know this is not a short oneshot!)

Other Notes: I hope I’ve fulfilled this request as well as the requester wanted, considering how long it took me to get around to it! (I’m still sorry!) Anyway, here goes nothing.

“I’ve got a bad feeling about this,” murmured Shelton as they sat in the bunker, gathered around the iPad on which the next clue was scheduled to appear.

“Shelton,” sighed Hi, “you’ve always got a bad feeling. How bad can it…”

He trailed off as the iPad flickered on, revealing a video of a girl that they knew all too well.

“Y/N,” whispered Ben as the Gamemaster’s vile laugh filled the room.

“Isn’t she beautiful?” asked the man rhetorically, face not visible as a knife was dragged across her skin, barely touching it. “Have fun finding her.”

The video stopped, and a timer appeared on screen, giving them four hours.

“No. This can’t be happening. This cannot be happening,” muttered Hi, getting up and starting to pace.

Tory stared in mute disbelief at the screen as the numbers started to count down before finally opening her mouth. “We have to find her. Hi, calm down. I know you’re concerned but this is not the time to be panicking.”

“My girlfriend is being held captive. By a madman!” Hi flailed his arms in the air for emphasis. “By someone who's probably going to kill her, how can I not panic? Why aren’t you panicking? How aren’t you panicking? We were supposed to go on a date, this was supposed to be a normal day, I was finally ready to-”

He sat down, too choked up with tears threatening to fall to continue.

“When was the last time we saw her?” asked Tory. “Shelton, you had tech with her. Do you remember what she said she was going to do?”

“She rode home with Chance,” offered Ben, causing all eyes in the room to turn to him. “Y/N rode home with Chance. She always does on Wednesdays. It’s why she hates them.”

Tory, Ben, Shelton and Hi all knew it was no secret that you weren’t exactly fond of your half brother – since you had been forced to move in with him and your father around the time that Tory moved to Morris Island, the two of you had never quite gotten along.

Not near as well as you got along with the Morris Island crew, anyway – you and Ben were like brother and sister, while you had been dating Hi for six months strong.

“We’ve got to find her. Who knows what he’s-” Hi struggled to keep down a sob “-done to her.” He turned to Tory. “How strong is your nose?”

You aren’t used to things going so fast, but with Hi, it never feels like you’re rushing things – and besides, amidst all of the adventures that your friends have managed to get up to since being infected, it’s hardly like your relationship is the least stable thing in either of your lives.

In fact, as Hi once put it, “it’s nice to have something that feels real for once when the rest of your day feels like a dream.”

Ironically enough, he was eating a Twinkie while saying this and ardently defended the golden snack’s “realness” when you brought it up.

A knock on your door startled you out of your reverie, but the moment you opened your mouth to answer, you frowned.

Who would knock on your door in this house? Currently, only your half-brother, Chance, lived here – not even your father was here anymore, considering his current occupation of serving a life sentence in prison.

Since moving in a few years ago, Chance had never come to your room, considering the two of you did not get along well. In fact, you were about certain that he wasn’t even home at the moment.

“Who’s there?”

Nobody answered, and you started to think that you must have imagined whatever you heard.

Oh well, can’t hurt to be sure. You padded across the carpeted room before pulling open the door.

You don’t even get the chance to scream as a hand claps over your mouth, and despite your struggle, you can’t twist to see the owner of said hand before you pass out.

A combination of Tory’s sense of smell, enhanced by flaring, along with a touch of technological tracing on Shelton’s part had them following a trail of blood through the woods not far from downtown Charleston.

“Are you sure we shouldn’t have gotten backup?” asked Shelton nervously. “Maybe the police would have been good to bring into this, considering he’s probably armed.”

Tory turned to him, yellow eyes gleaming in the darkness of late evening. “Yes, Shelton, and how were we supposed to explain how we found him? It’s better to keep the police out of this. We just solve the puzzle, grab Y/N, and nobody gets hurt.” I hope, was what she didn’t say, but it was what all of them heard anyway.

The four stopped abruptly as the fading sun cast light upon a dark building in the middle of the world, a shack inconspicuous enough that they would never have looked at it twice, but also a shack where the trail ended.

“He’s probably got cameras up around the place,” offered Ben, frowning as he took it in.

“Ben, can you check if there’s any windows? That seems safer than trying to get in through the front door.” He nodded at Tory’s request as she continued to survey it.

Before Ben had moved five steps, a shrill screech came from inside the shack, the scream loud to even the three of the four who hadn’t flared and bringing Tory to her knees, hands clapped over her ears a moment too soon. “Quick.”

The tallest of the boys disappeared into the trees to survey the perimeter as Hi sweated through his shirt, nervously wringing his hands.

“I can’t believe she got dragged into this,” he mumbled under his breath, the sound still audible in the silence of dusk. “This is all my fault. I should have gone all Harry Potter to her Ginny and broken up with her to protect her.”

“Hi.” Shelton grabbed him by the shoulders. “We all know how well that worked. Stop it. Y/N needs you right now.”

The other boy nodded, hardly hearing him as Ben came back. “There’s two windows. One is the room they’re in. One is near it. I think they’ll hear us if we break through there.”

“Front door it is.”

Ignoring the sense of foreboding that came upon them as they approached, the four walked up to the front door, Shelton testing the handle.

Easily, it turned and opened, not even locked.

“Either they just got here, or he was expecting us.” Shelton made to enter but Ben yanked him back by the collar.

“There’s no telling how he’s rigged this place. It’d probably be best if we all flared.”

“But won’t he see?”

Hi rolled his eyes. “Listen. If this Joker is really so mad as to try and steal from us and take Y/N while he’s at it, God knows what other crazy thoughts he’s got going on in his head. Who’s he gonna tell that will believe him?”

He was the first to flare, and soon, four pairs of gleaming yellow stood in the front corridor of a single-story shack that couldn’t have looked more like it was out of a horror movie if it tried.

Firearms from Glocks to AK-47s lined the walls and hung on racks, and a sickening spatter of blood on the floor had splashed onto the couch nearby.

It was a gruesome scene that made Shelton visibly shudder as they continued through the room, Ben grabbing one of the pistols off its rack and switching off the safety.

He hoped to God they wouldn’t have to use it.

“Oh, please, you’re pathetic,” a voice sounded through the walls, so muffled that only Shelton picked up on it at first. “Your friends are going to help you? How cute. You know why they didn’t drag you into this, hm? It’s because they don’t think you’re special. They don’t think you’re strong enough… because there’s always been a line dividing you and those four, huh?”

“They’re AP. They’re special. They’ve always been smarter than you and they didn’t think you would be enough of an asset to help them solve this… it’s a shame, really. If they’d have told you, maybe you wouldn’t have opened a door to a stranger.”

Now in the room next to the one in which the Gamemaster was talking.

“They have an hour and fifteen minutes left. Maybe if they rush enough, they’ll follow the clues and get here in an hour. Are you worth rushing for, sweetheart?”

Now they could hear your hardly there response, not even comprehensible due to the gag in your mouth around which you struggled to speak.

Shelton slowly started to push open the door, the dark-skinned hand trembling on the knob before he took a deep breath, turning it and finally swinging the door open in one fluid motion.

‘Shelton!’ you tried to shout through the duct tape on your mouth, using the distraction to hook your tongue around it and finally using your teeth to take the makeshift gag into your mouth.

“Please tell me my badass girlfriend just managed to eat the duct tape,” whispered Hi.

You turned to him, eyes wide, and found your boyfriend’s almost permanent smile had dropped, even his eyes showing the pain that coming upon you in such a state had brought him.

It was Ben who spoke first of the four, entering the room with his gun pointed straight at the Gamemaster. “Let her go.”

“Let her go?” repeated the man, before latching a hand on your hair and tugging hard enough to elicit a sharp yelp from you. “Sure.”

He dragged you across the room before any of the four could do anything, coming to a staircase you hadn’t known was there before throwing you down the steps, your head knocking painfully against the wall on your way down.

Black swarmed your vision as you heard footsteps scrabble on the floor above, Tory’s almost always confident voice sounding fragile in her next words.

“You’ll pay for this.”

They were an hour early, but even so, the Gamemaster had an escape plan, his final words the last you heard before succumbing to the darkness.

“You’ll have to catch me first.”

The time was nine o'clock – coincidentally, exactly the same time at which Hi had made a reservation for dinner for the two of you.

You hadn’t even gotten the chance to get ready for the night out that he had been planning for weeks, and now you were in a hospital gown.

Between his well-conditioned upper body and the enhancement that flaring provided to him, Ben had managed to carry you back to the car, the four and you fitting awkwardly, considering you were unconscious and bleeding from where the wound on your wrist had reopened – the same wound from which the blood dripping made the trail they had followed.

None of the four had spoken, Hi taking your head in his lap and doing a silent inventory of the bruises on you, trying to find where the blood spatter in the room had originated.

You weren’t spotless, but there was certainly nothing to suggest it had come from you.

They had taken you to the hospital, saying you had fallen down the stairs and gone unconscious, and still, you hadn’t woken up.

It had been an hour and Hi was already worried sick.

“This is all my fault!” he cried, pacing the room. “You heard what he said in there. Maybe I should have told her about this, that there’s a mad psycho on our asses! I’ve never kept anything like this from her before. She knows about us, for God’s sake!”

Visiting hours were over and the four wanted nothing more than to see you.

“Hi. Your mother will be worried sick. We’ve got to get you home.” Ben, always the voice of reason, clapped his hands on the other boy’s shoulders from behind. “She’ll be fine. She needs time to recover after that. Worrying in here won’t get you anywhere.”

Your boyfriend only started pacing faster. “Six months. This is our six month anniversary! We’re supposed to be out on a date, not here! I should never have dragged her into our nonsense. It was all or nothing and I kept things from her and now I’m going to lose her!” He turned back to Ben, unshed tears glimmering in his eyes. “I don’t want to lose her. I can’t lose her! She’s one of the best things that’s ever happened to me and I’m in love with her, damn it! I can’t lose her because of that bastard!”

Exhausted, he fell onto the chair next to Shelton, putting his head in his hands.

“Hi. Let’s get you home. We’ll come back tomorrow, I promise.”

He nodded blankly, getting up and following Tory out, accepting the reassuring squeeze on the shoulder that Ben offered.

Even so, Ben would never stop blaming himself for what had happened to you – for the mess that he had gotten them into.

If I hadn’t told him about her, this would never have happened.

A week’s worth of missed work from your classes piled up on the table next to you - even if you weren’t in AP like the Virals all were, high school was demanding nonetheless - and Hi sighed, glancing at it before sitting next to you.

“Hi, Y/N. It’s me. Hi. I’ve said my name twice now.” He laughed, but even with nobody in the room to hear it, it sounded forced. “You’ve been asleep for a week now. I know even you need your beauty sleep, but you’re worrying me to death and worry is not a good look on me. This bod was not made for stressing.”

Drifting in and out of consciousness, you felt your limbs like dead weights and your boyfriend’s voice, usually light but now heavy with his pain, providing a familiarity in this foreign environment. His next words were the first you heard.

“I need you, Y/N. I like to think I don’t need anyone but I’m wrong. I’m always wrong. I need your voice, your smile, to run my fingers through your hair and to touch your skin and have it warmer than me. I-I’ve been wanting to tell you for ages now, and I finally worked up the guts to do it. I was going to take you out to dinner and then I was going to take you into that one cheese shop that’s always open late and tell you ‘now that I’m surrounded by cheese, it’ll seem a bit less cheesy when I say this: I love you’ and then kiss you amidst all the cheeses whose names I can’t pronounce.”

“I rehearsed that for weeks, Y/N, and I’m honestly shocked that you would take that away from me considering it’s the best thing I ever came up with. It’s been a week but it feels like I’ve gained ten years.”

“I love you. Please come back to me. If it’s the homework you’re hiding from, I’ll pay off Shelton to do it and I might even help him. But please, I can’t lose you.”

You couldn’t fight back your smile anymore, and honestly, considering how long you had slept, you considered it somewhat rude to pretend to do the same.

“What’re you dreaming about?” He had evidently noticed your smile. “Is it Twinkies? Those dreams are the best.”

Your throat felt dry and scratchy with your reply. “Better than a dream. It’s you.”

You finally lifted your eyelids open, struggling to keep them so as you adjusted to the light in the room and the brightness in the eyes of Hiram Stolowitski, who was grinning despite the tears that you could see on his cheeks.

“Y/N.”

“I heard all of that, you sap.”

“Y/N!” He threw his arms around you before loosening them, remembering you were injured. “You jerk. I can’t believe you’d fake being asleep like that after being asleep for a week.”

Odd, his summarizing exactly what you had just been thinking. Then again, that was exactly what made the two of you mesh so well together - you were kindred spirits.

“Water?” You hated the sensation that your words caused as he nodded vigorously, pulling a bottle from his backpack.

“Here. Drink and reflect on your actions.”

He smiled lopsidedly at you as you drank, the water feeling divine as you were parched. “You’re here. I can’t believe you’re here. I thought you’d never wake up, or when you did it’d be like one of those seven-year comas and then you wouldn’t recognize me because I’d be so old and my young attractiveness was gone.”

“Hi. You’re fifteen.”

You shook your head at his antics, struggling to sit up and breathing a sigh of relief as he helped you, adjusting the pillows and grabbing a couple from the floor. “I may or may not have nabbed these from one of the storage rooms.”

Raising your eyebrows, you looked at him doubtfully.

“Fine, fine. It was Ben’s idea.”

Finally able to look him in the eye, you smiled again, before grabbing his face in your hands and kissing him.

Hard.

With tongue.

He’d be talking about this for weeks.

Smiling as you pressed your forehead to this, you whispered, “I love you too, you big dolt.”

“I mean, who couldn’t? Have you seen my muscles?” He pumped his arm as if to prove it, causing the two of you to laugh. “I’m sorry, I should have told you about the Gamemaster, I never expected he would go after you.”

“Hey, it’s the first thing you’ve ever kept from me, aside from your signature pizza recipe.”

“Which you’ll still never get.”

You stuck your tongue out at him, taking another gulp of water. “I’m your badass girlfriend who knows how to get duct tape off her mouth with her hands tied, and you can’t even tell me how to make a pizza? I’m starting to think I’m not good enough for you.”

Pressing a loud, wet kiss to your cheek, Hi replied, “You’re too good for me, Y/N, but you’re still never getting that. Maybe one day when I’m on my deathbed and you’re my next of kin, I’ll whisper it to you dramatically but miss the last ingredient and then the recipe will die with me.”

You pushed him. “No death jokes. Insensitive.”

“Irreplaceable.”

Your boyfriend grinned widely at you and you resisted the urge to gag at his cheesiness. “Where are the others?”

“What, am I not good enough for you?” He shook his head. “I don’t know. I think they’ll be here later. I came right after school. We’ve been in every day. Your brother’s been collecting your homework for you. Chance. He’s been worried sick about you, ya know. Something about how he should’ve been home, shouldn’t have left you in that ginormous place alone.”

You nodded, finding it hard to believe. “Huh. I doubt it’ll last once he realizes I’m back to my old, annoying self again.”

“Please. You could never be annoying.”

Hi’s gaze traveled your face as if he was taking it in for the first time. “I’m so glad you’re back.”

“Me too.” You grinned. “I’m still holding you to that, though. I’m not in any fit state to do all of this work.”

“Please. I’d have done it all if it meant getting you back.”

“Liar. You would at least have delegated some to Shelton.”

He held up his hands in surrender. “What can I say? You know me too well.”

“I’ll never know too much about you. I love you.”

A kick at the door made you look up, revealing the other three of the pack looking sheepish.

“Were you spying on us?” gasped out Hi, pointing an accusatory finger. “Honestly. You’re so depraved.”

“If it helps,” offered Tory, “we’ve only been here since you talked about Chance.”

“You are all horrible eavesdroppers and I don’t know why I’m friends with you,” you murmured, shaking your head with a laugh. “Also, who kicked the door?”

“In my defense, I was aiming for Ben,” retorted Shelton, brushing himself off.

“What? It’s not my fault I can’t stand these two.”

You threw one of the pillows that Ben himself had stolen, scowling as he caught it.

“It’s the first time I’ve seen any of you flare,” you said quietly, even if they could all hear you anyway. “I never knew your eyes went yellow.”

“Hopefully you don’t get yourself into more danger that we have to save you from,” replied Tory. “How are you? Suffering from cavities due to this charmer’s sweetness?”

You shrugged. “Honestly, just tired.”

Hi gasped dramatically. “You’ve been sleeping for a week and you want to sleep more? Honestly, Y/N, priorities.”

“I was joking,” you said with a laugh as the pillow was thrown back at you.

Looking up to the doorway murderously, you saw Ben hold his hands up as if to say ‘I didn’t do it’ and noticed a shadow behind him.

Chance.

“You’re not allowed to do that again,” he spoke, leaning against the doorway as the other three moved to offer him space. “No falling down staircases. In fact, it’s probably a good idea to just avoid them altogether.”

You scowled at him. “Like you avoid me?”

“Yes. Exactly. Good talk.” He left the room, leaving you staring at the door in confusion.

“He cares,” offered Tory, watching his retreating figure. “In his own way.”

You shrugged. “I don’t need him. I have you. And that’s enough.”

Ben mimed throwing up. “Stop listening to Thickburger here,” he laughed, ruffling Hi’s hair as he crossed the room. “I liked you better when you were feisty.”

“Uh-huh. Like you aren’t sappy, mister I-Steal-Pillows-From-Hospitals.”

He turned on Hi. “You, sir, are the biggest snitch.”

“Hey, she was the one who said it couldn’t be me. Checkmate, Ben. She knows what a big sap you are.”

Nodding along with his words, you couldn’t help but smile, glad to be back with Tory and her boys.

Like it or not, Ben and Shelton were like brothers to you, far superior to Chance, in your eyes, and Tory the sister you never had.

Hi was the best boyfriend you could have asked for, and the fact that they were all here and you weren’t still with the Gamemaster just proved that, no matter what he might have said to the contrary.

“So, Y/N, how about we get a jumpstart on that homework?”

“God, Shelton, stop being such a buzzkill,” you sighed, shaking your head.

“Hey. Hi’s the fun one, Ben’s the strong one, it falls to me to be the boring, smart one,” he replied with a shrug, eyes widening when Tory turned to him with her hands on her hips.

“And what does that make me?”

“The bossy one?”

She punched him lightly on the arm, exchanging a glance with you. “Boys. Honestly. They smell, too.”

“I haven’t showered in a week.”

“Gross!” exclaimed Hi, jumping away from the bed, before laughing. “We should probably let you get dressed. Come on, come on, shoo, guys, give the lady her room.”

He ushered them out, before leaning back into the room to wink at you. “I love you, Y/N.”

“I love you, Hiram.”

You felt warm even under the thin cotton sheets and the flimsy hospital gown, the heat coming from your heart, and the knowledge that no matter what, your friends would always be there for you.

They never made you feel like the weaker one, no matter what the Gamemaster had said.

Having friends like these just made you stronger, and you loved them for it.

“Shut up, Hi! You’re like a lovesick puppy!”

“Yeah? You think we haven’t noticed how you look at - hey! What was that for?”

Cool, calm, and collected- that was his motto. That wasn't to say he didn't have emotions or that he never expressed them, because he did. Starfinder 2

ok so we finally got to play our second adventure of starfinder after a lot of weekends of players being busy/out of town. it was a lot of fun and things went to shit. This got really long but that’s cuz we played pretty much all day

so we got to start out with some space combat on the Jell-E Fish. It was a little slow at first because we were all trying to figure out how it worked and get into the groove as our rolls on the ship. The weirdest thing getting used to was it goes lowest initiative to highest, so that highest can react.

My bro’s character Archie (the rat) is the pilot during fights and does maneuvers to get us where we need and the direction we need. My character Ren, does the scanning of the other ships for info and can change the shield allocation on the ship to where we are getting fired at. And the other character Lonestar does the gunning.

The first encounter where these two weird creatures we found in the warp that we were able to take down pretty easily with only a little damage to our ship. After that we had a rendezvous point with another ship we were working with for the delivery mission to the planet Eox. Ren recalls some info about Eoxians at this point that they are all pretty much lychborns, so..that’s fun. We have to disable an Eoxian ship so that we can board the ship and get some landing codes.

The combat is 3 of their ships against us and our co-worker. That battle was a little harder but also really fun. We were messing around by the end of it because none of us really needed to do our correct jobs at that point. so Ren ended up piloting, Archie was doing mechanical stuff, and Lonestar went back up to gunning after a brief stent as the mechanic. He went down and did that after Ren helped with gunning the previous turn and took down a ship with a nat 20 lol.

We boarded the closest ship after that. Archie had to disable doors and some weird climate stuff that was going on in the inside of the ship. Inside the ship there is no air, it’s zero gravity, and it’s extremely cold. Luckily we were provided with space suits that pretty much took care of all of that. Once we entered the main ship, with some lighting from my spells, we immediately found some zombies. There were a lot of them after we initially only saw one and started combat. Archie ran off pretty early on in the combat, so that he could get further in the ship and get the codes while we all fought them off. Lonestar did a great job, but fucking Renwick the captain missed 2 times in a row POINTBLANK with fucking shotgun. So uh because of that combat wasn’t going to great for a while. Ren did the very few amount of healing spells she had and Renwick still went down, because the zambills were doing pretty much max damage each time the hit (thanks bf for rolling so well). Ren stabilized him and then she and Lone star finished off the last few zamboes.

There was a little debate after the battle of just leaving Renwick there and taking his ship and finishing the delivery ourselves. We were really close to just doing that but we did the “right” thing and took him back with us.

THIS IS WHERE THINGS START FUCKING UP!! Lonestar wants to know what the cargo is and I’m pretty interested too so I go with him. Archie reluctantly opens up the door for us. We then get a call from the other ship that we answer. The other guy is an android name Vaughn. We fill them in on what happened on the ship and then ask about the cargo. They don’t give us a straight answer about what exactly it is, but if we do go and look they’ll give us a new deal. So we continue with going to look at the cargo. We find a trap at the door that Archie tries and fails to disable from the hull of the ship. Ren is fucking brilliant at this point and is like “I’m full on HPs I’ll step on it to set it off so that you can go look Lonestar”. welll the trap does 8d6 damage NONLETHAL luckily and Ren is out for the rest of it. It’s also important to note that Ren never got to step in the room with the cargo. At that point Lonestar is not too sure he wants to look anymore because if there is that much of a security measure this might not be a good idea. after like 5 or 10 minutes outside of game the player rolls to decide what he’s gonna do and he decides to go check it out....shit hits the fan.

Lonestar approaches the container, the room is very cold, and sees a bunch of runes on the thing and a keypad to unlock it. Well right when he gets close to it the container responds to his heat signature. He rolled a nat 20 on his computers to try and open the thing and so he did. blue liquid starts coming out of the box and getting all over the floor. He then tries to scoop it back into the box because he was panicking and not thinking well. He tries to hit buttons to close it and get it to stop but NOPE. the goop starts to turn into something. I can’t describe it very well but it was pretty much a clear looking child made out of this goop that was clearly an old computer program? Lonestar freaks out more and runs out of the room dragging Ren’s unconscious body with him.

She wakes up shortly after to Lonestar freaking out and asking her to go back to the Eoxian ship to get 2 zombies “why” “don’t ask” “but why” “don’t ask” “BUT WHY” the whole time she’s already helping him do it. Archie is in his room at this point, he’s done with this mess and doesn’t wanna deal with it. We get the zombies back on our ship and Lonestar shooting his laser gun at the walls of the hull to make it look like there was a fight. Ren is starting to catch on at this point and brings a zombie to the back of the ship on top of the trap she got hit by. We finally talk to Vaughn again at this point and they agree to go along with Lonestar’s story that more zombies got on our ship that we all fought bravely and one got to the back, but for 300 credits. which at this point...that’s a lot. Lonestar agrees and transfers them 310 (all his money). We could have taken his deal at this point and decided not to. We could have jettisoned the cargo to Vaughn and he would have payed us and given one person transport away (basically given one of us a chance to make a new character). We should have taken the deal...

Ren wakes Renwick up with some more healing. She immediately lies saying they had to run after Archie got the codes and 2 followed us onto the ship where we fought more and that vaughn could corroborate our story. I roll pretty well and we assume it was a success. We continue on to fail a miserably at trying to convince him of what happened before calling Vaughn who DID corroborate our story and Renwick believed him so we started succeeding again. At this point he’s unsure so he asks us all to take a trip back with him to the cargo. He sees the zombie on the trap and is like fuuuuuuuuuuuuuck. cuz he now knows for sure something fucked up happened here. He disables the trap that reset by this point, saying that you don’t wanna step on that it’ll hurt. Ren nervously says yeah it definitely look like it would and that it could knock someone unconscious very easily. We all get back to the back and Renwick sees the open cargo and starts asking us all a lot of questions where both Archie and Ren start telling the “truth” that they don’t know what happened here and they they never stepped into the room until this moment. Lonestar lies his ass off with another nat 20 (his player is the luckiest person ever and rolls nat 20s at the best moments). So after inspecting things and Ren figures out the cargo had something to do with nanites (healing things) but there had to be more to it. Renwick also knows we’re lying because like...one of us HAD to have opened this thing but like he can’t figure out which one. oh yeah...and the thing that Lonestar saw? not there anymore, so we have some weird child looking ancient nano technology loose and no idea where it is (even with me rolling really well on pretty much any check I could have to locate the thing).

So we end with the deal fucked and trying to come up with a good story of what the fuck happened to maybe we can all get some money still. We were all dying laughing while everything was going to shit and while we were trying to lie we had so much fun and are all happy we fucked it up.
