hiii!
I love your writing sooo much and I just had an idea for a story with Lando (if you write for him)
The idea came to me when I was watching one of his interviews in which he gets asked if he likes cats or dogs and he says that he's DEFINITELY a dog person and hates cats (which should be a crime imo)
Anyway I was wondering if you could write a story in which the reader LOVEEEES cats and Lando likes reader a lot but they tell him that they refuse to date someone who doesn’t like cats so Lando tries to charm/befriend their cat/cats
nine lives — ln4
lando norris x !cat lover reader
smau + blurbs
You’ve always said you could forgive many things in a relationship—bad taste in music, questionable cooking, even the occasional forgotten anniversary. But not liking cats? Unforgivable. Which is why, when a clip of Lando—your boyfriend of almost a year—where he boldly declares “I just don’t trust cats. They stare at you like they’re plotting your death.”, your phone practically explodes with notifications. And right in the middle of your peaceful Sunday morning, curled up in bed with four purring furballs and one very smug grey baby sprawled on your chest, Lando walks into the room holding his phone like it’s ticking.
“They’re all sending me this video,” he says, deadpan. “And now half the internet thinks we’re about to break up because I disrespected Mister Whiskers the Third.”
You blink at him. “You did. And you disrespected me.”
And that’s when he sighs—loudly, dramatically—and looks your cats in the eye like he’s facing his greatest challenge yet.
“I guess I’m gonna have to win them over, huh?”

lando’s ‘undercover’ GQ interview — 6/23/2025

It starts innocently enough. You’re lounging on the couch in your sunlit living room, a tabby curled against your hip, a calico stretched across your feet, and your ancient, grumpy Persian—Count Meowcula—curled up like a loaf of bread on the coffee table. Lando is still asleep upstairs, likely tangled in the duvet with his mouth slightly open and hair sticking up like a dandelion. You’re scrolling through your phone when the first tag pops up.
@/username000 : NOT LANDO SAYING HE HATES CATS 💀💀💀 @/yourusername come get your man pls
You furrow your brows and click the link.
It’s a recent clip, from the GQ interview he just did the other day. The interviewer shows him an old clip of himself.
And the younger Lando on the video, without missing a beat, replies with boyish arrogance, “Dogs, obviously. Cats are evil. I don’t trust them. They just sit there and judge you.”
Your jaw drops a little. “Excuse me?”
He goes on—oh, he goes on.
“They’re always knocking things off tables. Like, why? For what reason? I could never live with a cat. I’d be on edge all the time.”
You blink at the screen, stunned. A moment later, your mentions erupt like fireworks.
@/username00 : so like… yn owns FIVE cats and lando said THIS?????
@/username0 : the betrayal. the slander. does Count Meowcula know??
@/username1 : if my man ever said this about cats i’d simply let them scratch his eyes out 😭
You let out a little laugh—half horrified, half amused—and glance around the room. As if sensing drama, your youngest cat, a tiny grey kitten named Pickles, climbs onto your lap and stares directly into your phone screen like she’s reading the replies.
“I know,” you murmur to her. “He’s got some explaining to do.”
Almost on cue, heavy footsteps pad down the stairs. You hear a yawn, then a groggy voice.
“Morning…” Lando steps into the room, rubbing sleep from his eyes. He’s in one of your hoodies and a pair of mismatched socks, hair a complete mess.
You swivel your phone toward him, the video paused on the exact moment he says, “Cats are evil.”
He squints. “Oh no.”
“Oh yes.”
Lando flops face first onto the couch beside you, groaning into a throw pillow. “I was, like, twenty! I didn’t know better!”
“The internet disagrees.” You smirk, holding your phone up as notifications keep pouring in. “You’ve got approximately two million cat lovers and a grumpy Count Meowcula very disappointed in you.”
Lando turns his head, eyes squinting at the Persian cat who is, indeed, staring at him with an expression of utter betrayal.
“I told him it was an old interview,” you say solemnly. “He doesn’t care.”
“I’ll never earn his forgiveness, will I?”
“Not unless you make amends.”
He sits up dramatically, pressing a hand to his chest. “Then I have no choice. I must… bond with the cats.”
“Oh?” you tease. “The same cats who are evil? The ones you can’t trust?”
“I was young! I was foolish!” He throws himself at your feet in mock agony. “Please, my love, allow me to prove myself to you—and to Pickles. And to Mr. Whiskers. And… Count Meowcula.” He pauses.
“God, why do they all sound like retired supervillains?”
“Because they are.”
Pickles meows at him, unimpressed. Lando slowly sits back up, adjusting his hoodie and patting his lap. “Alright. I’m ready. Send me your softest warrior.”
You raise an eyebrow. “You’re serious?”
“I’m ready to face the consequences of my words,” he says solemnly. “Bring me the cats.”
One by one, like some ceremonial trial, the cats are introduced. Pickles curls up beside him without protest. Mr. Whiskers claws his leg once, just for good measure, and then lays on his foot. Count Meowcula eyes him for a solid three minutes before climbing onto his lap and promptly falling asleep.
You grab your phone and take a picture of the scene—Lando sitting stiff as a board, surrounded by cats, one paw resting over his knee like a warning.
Moments later, the tweet goes viral. The top reply?
@/alex_albon : petition for Lando to do a cat photoshoot in apology form.
You grin and show it to him.
“Absolutely not,” Lando mutters as Mr. Whiskers licks his hand. “Okay. Maybe. Only if I get to wear the little ears too.”

The stream wasn’t even supposed to happen. It started because Max texted Lando “go live you coward I miss your face”, and then fifteen minutes later Lando was setting up his webcam while you sat cross legged on the couch, cradling Pickles in your lap like royalty. You had no intention of being on camera—until Pickles decided to launch himself from your arms and climb straight up Lando’s hoodie mid-intro.
“AH—oh my god—HE’S IN MY SHIRT,” Lando yelps, half-laughing, half-panicking, while you scramble into frame trying to extract the tiny menace from his hood. The comments explode instantly.
@/username0000 : IS THAT PICKLES??
@/username000: this is already the best stream of the year
You finally wrestle the kitten free and sit down beside Lando, both of you breathless from laughing. Pickles, smug as ever, curls into a perfect ball on Lando’s shoulder like he owns the place.
“He’s… decided to stay,” Lando mutters, eyes wide. “I’m not moving for the rest of the stream.”
“That’s called growth,” you tease. “You used to call him a demon.”
“I still think he is,” Lando says. “He’s just my demon now.”
Then Max joins the call. And everything goes downhill.
“Oi,” Max says, grinning into his camera. “Am I interrupting domestic bliss?”
“Pickles almost crawled into my ribcage five minutes ago,” Lando replies. “So yes, but it’s fine.”
You wave at Max. “Hi Max. I saved your best friend from a feline induced death.”
“Legend,” Max says with a wink. “Though if Pickles had finished the job, I’d finally win our Fantasy league.”
Lando flips him off. The chat goes wild. Over the next half hour, it descends into total chaos. Lando’s trying to game, Max is throwing shade, and you’re in the background trying to keep Pickles from knocking over an open can of Monster with the energy of a feral toddler. At one point a conversation sparks.
Max started. “So YN, how many cats is too many cats?”
You thought for a moment. ”Hypothetically?”
“Yeah.”
“Ten.”
Lando spits out his drink, “TEN?”
You shrugged, “I’m just saying. We have the space.”
Max laughed. “This is how it starts. First it’s one kitten, next thing you know, you’re on a reality show called My Strange Addiction..’”
You laughed, “I’d watch my episode.”
Lando sighed heavily, “Don’t give her ideas, she’s already been measuring out a catio for the balcony.”
The chat is unhinged at this point.
@/username11: lando is literally becoming the cat dad he swore he’d never be and I love it
Then Pickles decides to crawl back onto Lando’s lap mid game, and instead of pushing him off, Lando just says, “Okay okay buddy, you can sit there, just don’t touch the mouse—”
Immediately, Pickles touches the mouse. Lando loses the round. Max howls laughing.
“I’ve been sabotaged,” Lando groans. “By my own child.”
You hand him a tiny sweater. “He earned this.”
Lando holds up the sweater to the camera—soft knit, neon orange, a little lightning bolt stitched across the back.
“It’s giving superhero sidekick,” Max says. “He needs a cape.”
“Don’t tempt me,” you say, already pulling out your phone to text your Etsy supplier.
By the end of the stream, Pickles is asleep on Lando’s chest, purring, and Lando’s stroking his tiny head absentmindedly while bickering with Max about who cheated in karting back in 2015.
“He’s so gone,” Max mouths into the camera, pointing at Lando, who doesn’t even notice because he’s too busy whispering, “You’re my best mate, but if you ever touch my mouse again, I swear—” to a literal sleeping kitten.
The final shot before the stream ends? Lando kissing the top of Pickles’ head without even realizing he’s doing it. The comments explode. And the clip goes viral.
You come home expecting the usual—a trail of cat toys on the stairs, a half consumed cup of Lando’s coffee on the kitchen counter, and Pickles dramatically lounging in your spot on the couch. What you don’t expect is Lando standing in the hallway with his hands behind his back and the guiltiest grin on his face.
“What did you do?” you ask instantly.
“Why do you assume I did something?” he replies, rocking on his heels.
“You only smile like that when you’ve either crashed a scooter or spent a suspicious amount of money.”
“I prefer the term invested.”
You narrow your eyes. “Lando…”
He takes your hand. “Okay. Just… come with me.”
He leads you to the balcony, practically vibrating with excitement. The sliding doors are already open, and the cats are pacing back and forth like they know something’s up. And then you see it. A catio.
Not just any catio. A custom, multi-level, architectural wonderland that stretches across half the balcony. There’s a tunnel system, clear bubble pods for sunbathing, platforms shaped like trophies, and tiny nameplates engraved for each cat. At the top—of course—is Count Meowcula, looking down on his kingdom like he’s about to demand taxes.
You blink. “Lando. What the hell is this?”
“It’s a Catio 2.0,” he says proudly. “Designed it with a guy from Reddit. Don’t ask how much it cost.”
You turn to him, stunned.
“And this?” you say, gesturing to the racing stripe hammock that literally says “PICKLES’ PAD.”
He scratches the back of his neck. “Okay that part was my idea. And the tiny pit wall.”
There is a tiny pit wall. You burst out laughing, hand over your mouth. “I can’t believe you did this.”
He shrugs, pulling you into a hug. “You said they deserved fresh air and enrichment. And I figured… if I’m gonna be a cat dad, I might as well go all in.”
You lean up and kiss him, dizzy with love. “You’re ridiculous.”
“I know,” he grins. “But you love me anyway.”
It started as a joke. You were scrolling through Instagram with Lando one night, curled up on the couch while Pickles aggressively kneaded his thigh. Zhou had just posted yet another selfie with Sweetcorn, his fluffy, spoiled cat, perched on his shoulder like a queen.
Lando squinted at the screen. “I’m starting to think Zhou loves that cat more than he loves people.”
You smirked. “I respect it. Honestly, I love sweetcorn too.”
“Okay, weird. But what if we got him, like… a Sweetcorn pillow?” Lando said, half joking, half serious.
You stared at him. “Wait. That’s actually genius.”
Two weeks later, the package arrives.
A two foot long plush pillow—an eerily accurate, almost too realistic version of Sweetcorn, down to the slightly tilted ears and smug expression. You nearly cry laughing when you pull it out of the box. Lando holds it up like he’s presenting Simba.
“We’ve peaked,” he declares. “This is our legacy.”
You’re both waiting outside the Ferrari hospitality unit when Zhou walks up, sunglasses on, coffee in hand, completely unprepared.
Lando grins. “Got you a present.”
Zhou raises a brow. “What’d you do?”
Then you pull the pillow out from behind your back and hold it up proudly.
Zhou stops. Blinks. Takes off his sunglasses in slow motion.
“You did not.”
“Oh, we did,” you laugh. “Meet… travel-sized Sweetcorn.”
Zhou stares at the pillow, mouth open, completely speechless. Then, without a word, he drops his coffee and takes the pillow in his arms like a long lost child.
“I’m never sleeping alone again,” he says.
Lando bursts out laughing. “We made it extra squishy so you’d get maximum cuddle support.”
Zhou is still cradling the pillow, already doing voices— “‘Who needs anyone when I’ve got you, Sweetcorn 2.0.’”
You snap a picture of him holding the pillow like a baby, and before long it’s all over social media.

one of my fav kdramas (called youre beautiful) is abt a girl joining a boy band and pretending to be a boy ohshc style except her fellow members dont know and she has to somehow live with them while hiding it 😭 it's so wattpad i love
so imagine being fem!reader sharing a dorm with the saja boys while trying not to get found out
of course u cant hide forever tho so this is how i think you'd get found out and how they'd react:
❓ mystery knew from the start. you didnt realize he was scrutinizing you so closely bc of them fuck ass bangs but from the day you met he could tell just by looking at you. but, much like he does about everything, he kept quiet because he didnt want to freak you out. he found it cute though, every time you'd slip up and get all flustered trying to cover up why you were staring at the dresses at the mall or why you were caught buying pads. so, he'd just smile, pat your head, and calmly help you make excuses. if you walk into the wrong room at the wrong time he'll quietly direct you to a gender neutral bathroom or drape a towel over your eyes whenever the guys got too... carefree in the locker room. lowk helps you hide it from the other members bc he likes it being his little secret
🍼 baby also found out pretty early but also like not really? he walked in on you in the bathroom once and was like "mb" and then he thought about it and was like "wait a sec..." but then he just shrugged it off. and since then for a while in the back of his head he would catch the way you walk or the way you sit or the way your eyelashes look against your cheek and for a split second would think like "is he a chick?" but he never really came to a conclusion bc he just dont gaf. dude or not he treats you pretty much the same. once everyone else starts figuring it out tho thats when he starts acknowledging it. now that everyone else seems to treat you differently as a girl, he starts questioning how to feel or act around you...
💪 abby started rough housing with the other boys and tried to pull you in. lifted you up and not only were you lighter than he expected, your bodies were right up against each other. you did your best to bind your tits down but when you were chest to chest like this it was still noticeable. he awkwardly puts you down and scratches the back of his neck, mumbling an apology. for the next few days his brain is fried thinking about it. he never verbally acknowledges it but he starts being super gentle around you and treating you like you're fragile. feels the need to protect you physically, even if its against the other boys. always keeping watch to make sure they're gentle with you as well.
✨ jinu overhears you out yourself on the phone somehow and is so mad and so flustered at the same time. he's afraid you're going to be a liability if the fans find out and its gonna be a pain to hide but behind all that anger he's just scared of women fr. blushes every time he remembers you're a girl. every time you end up together alone in the living room or catch each other in the hallway, brushing each others shoulders in the slightest, he turns bright red and freaks tf out. somehow though he finds it easier to connect with you emotionally as a girl. with other guys it sometimes feels weird to be vulnerable, but you don't seem to have that shame at all. he admires it. gwi ma probably forced you into this situation so he empathizes with you.
🫶 romance liked to ask you all the time about your love life. asking what your type is, ideal date, dream wedding, do you want kids, etc. you figured it would be safest to just pretend you were a straight dude who liked girls. he wouldnt have cared though. he was starting to feel a little something for you even before you revealed yourself as a girl but refrained from going down that route to stay professional. but when you do reveal yourself as a girl it starts to get even harder to keep that boundary.
🥤 overall once they figure it out none of them tell each other or really say it aloud bc of the implications it has. but they all show it through actions like making sure you're fed and hydrated, letting you use the shower first, asking you if you need a break during rehearsal, etc. but trust, once they all start offering to help you at the same time--like all of them reaching to lend you their marker during fan signings when yours goes dry or surrounding you with 5 different choices of hoodie when you mention you're cold--they start getting real jealous and possessive real soon; they all want to be the one and only you rely on.
eventually though when they all reveal that they all know and everyone's on the same page, they start working together to protect you. all 5 of them wrapped around ur finger 😋 but still fighting for your attention
a/n: ugh i wish i had time/energy to do this properly along w all my other fics for kpdh (this movie has taken over my life) but idk i prob wont LOLL if anyone else wants to build off of this plz go ahead and tag me
UPDATE !!! PROLOGUE OUT NOW 🤑

rin would be the type of person who hates parasocial fans so he hates it even more if parasocial fans are harassing his girlfriend and leaving hate comments on her posts or anything he would be so mad that people he thinks are lukewarm and downright pathetic for idolising him in such a way they’d assume they ever had a chance with him to begin with
so if he noticed you’re getting upset at the hate comments (albeit sparse; you and rin would be such a loved couple everyone would find how opposite you are too cute…) he’ll through your phone and find whatever video you were watching and look through the comments and go on his own phone and meticulously reply to all of them
his favourite responses are “lukewarm” “stfu” “i love my gf” and whatever else he’d be such an i love my wife type of bf he’d be obsessed with you and so clingy to you like the fact people dislike you is completely and utterly unfathomable to this man like how can anyone hate you and hate comment on your posts where you look so beautiful and cute hello you’re literally an angel fallen from the sky into his lap made to be his girlfriend???
and you only find out he’s been doing this by another tiktok that came on your fyp about rin itoshi’s apparent bad behaviour towards fans and you realise all the bad he behaviour is just him hate commenting back to anyone and everyone that talked bad about you it’s literally just him being nasty to anyone who dared to speak bad on your name and it makes you feel eternally grateful for having a boyfriend willing to wreck his public image just to defend you
when you tell him how grateful you are for him he’s embarrassed and weakly tries to shove you off him (he obviously wants you to stay clinging to him telling you how grateful you are for him) and blushes a bit because itoshi rin is a whipped LOSERRR but he loves you so dearly…
“rinnie i’m so lucky to have you” you cheese at him and he just mumbles a shut up and pulls you closer and ruffles your hair and watches you giggle about it
maybe he’s not that outwardly affectionate and he’s a bit awkward but you know you’re his princess and he knows you’re his wife to be and he’d rather die than let these lukewarm parasocially obsessed losers speak on you as if they’re any competition for you at all

Say It Again

summary: just mark malfunctioning
pairing: mark lee x female reader
genre / tags: fluff, smut, slight humor, established relationship
warnings: explicit sexual content, fingering, soft dom!mark, praise kink / pet name kink, lots of pet names, and overuse of the word "baby". (please tell me if i missed some!)
wc: 2.7k
a/n: this was supposed to be a very cute and fluffy fic but I got carried away (whoops) 🤭
You’re not a pet name type of person. You tease him for using them. Roll your eyes every time he says babygirl or sweetheart or honey. Always hit him with:
— “Okay, Romeo. Relax.” — or a dry “Gross.”
You’re smiling, though. Every single time.
He knows you are. Doesn’t even need to look up anymore — just hears the edge of your voice, catches the tiniest upturn in your mouth, and it makes his chest ache. This is just who you are. You love him with your whole heart. But anything too mushy? Too sweet? Makes you squirm. Too cheesy? Too sentimental? You’d rather set yourself on fire.
You fold his laundry, steal his hoodies, and kiss his forehead every morning— but call him baby? God forbid.
So he gave up on expecting anything back. Not in a sad way — more like muscle memory now. A quiet acceptance.
Mark knows his role — he’s the nickname guy, you’re the pet-name grump.
He calls you angel when you look sleepy. Pretty girl when you’re mad at him. Darling when you’re sick and curled up in bed, nose pink and pouty.
You just shake your head and mutter, “You’re so embarrassing.” But you never tell him to stop.
He’s accepted it. Doesn’t need the words. He has all the proof he needs in the way you touch him, look at him, reach for his hand under the table even when you're pretending to be annoyed. He’s already so gone for you, it’s pathetic.
But then.
One day.
No warning.
You're in the middle of conversation, half-distracted, elbow-deep in a crinkly paper bag of fries, when you say it.
“Wait, can you pass me that? Thanks, baby.”
Just like that. Casual. Offhanded. As if you didn’t just drop a nuclear bomb onto his entire existence.
Silence.
You don’t even register it. Just keep rustling through your food, completely unaware of the spiritual event you’ve triggered behind you.
Mark freezes.
Hand halfway extended, holding the takeout container like it’s sacred scripture.
His whole body stills. Eyes wide. Jaw slack.
Soul... buffering.
“...What,” he breathes. “What did you just call me?”
You glance over your shoulder, chewing.
“Huh?”
He blinks. Slowly. Like he’s trying to reboot.
“You said—”
His voice cracks. “You said baby.”’
You shrug, lips full of noodles.
“Oh. Did I?”
“Did I??” he echoes, horrified. “Do you even understand what you’ve done?!”
You pop a spring roll into your mouth, already focused on unsealing the dipping sauce.
“Relax, Mark. It just slipped out.”
And that’s when he absolutely short-circuits.
“SLIPPED OUT?!”
He clutches his chest like he’s been mortally wounded. Slumps against the back of the chair with the drama of a soap opera lead.
“I need to sit down—wait, I am sitting. Then why do I feel like I’m gonna faint?”
You snort into your drink, nearly choking on a sip of iced tea.
“You’re ridiculous.”
“I’m writing this down,” he rambles, hand now scrabbling blindly for his phone. “I’m journaling this. This is the highlight of my fucking life. Our future kids are hearing this story.”
“Mark. You’re crying.”
“I’M NOT—crying—I’m just—emotionally compromised.”
You shake your head, grinning into your food like an idiot, while across from you Mark stares at the ceiling in silent, reverent awe. Like he’s just heard the voice of God.
Later that night, you’re sprawled on the couch, stomach full, brain slow. Wrapped in post-dinner haze and the sound of the TV droning low in the background. One leg draped over the armrest, your hand resting lazily on your belly like a satisfied cat.
Mark’s on the other end, curled into himself, hoodie wrinkled, sleeves shoved up to his elbows as he wages war with a stubborn snack bag. His tongue pokes out in concentration, brows furrowed, completely unaware that you’re watching him like he’s the most endearing thing you’ve ever seen.
You pass behind the couch to grab your drink, then pause —
just long enough to lean down, press a soft kiss to the crown of his head, and murmur:
“Thanks, baby.”
You don’t even look back. Just grab your drink like it’s nothing.
But behind you—something shifts.
You make it three steps before it hits you.
Mark hasn’t moved.
You glance back.
He’s frozen. Snack bag in hand, half-open, arms slack. He’s staring ahead, not blinking—like someone just whispered the secrets of the universe in his ear and he’s trying to process them.
“…Mark?”
He turns to look at you, slow and awestruck. Like you just performed a miracle in front of him.
“You just—” He swallows hard. “You said it again.”
You tilt your head, one brow lifting.
“Said what?”
He gasps. Full gasp.
“Said what?! Don’t play dumb. You know exactly what you said.”
You rest your elbows against the back of the couch, watching him with a smirk that’s far too satisfied.
“You mean baby?”
Mark doesn’t blink. Doesn’t breathe. The TV hums in the background. Somewhere outside, a car drives by.
Then it hits him. Again.
The snack bag falls from his hand with a soft crinkle. He recoils, clutching his chest like he’s trying to physically contain his heart.
“I’m sweating,” he mutters, fanning himself. “Do you feel that? That’s my soul leaving my body. You just—casually—called me baby like it was nothing. Like you didn’t just rewrite my entire DNA.”
You laugh so hard your knees buckle. You have to grab the couch just to stay upright.
“No, because what do I do now?!” he groans, sliding dramatically down into the cushions. “Do I sit normally? Offer you a ring? Should I faint? Do people faint romantically anymore?!”
“Mark—”
“I’m spiraling,” he moans, draping his arm over his face like he’s in the final scene of a tragic play. “You said it so casually. That was so unfair.”
You circle around to the front of the couch and settle yourself into his lap, straddling him like it’s second nature. He stiffens beneath you, lips parting slightly—like your weight on him just activated some buried instinct.
You tilt your head, playful. “If I said it again… would you survive?”
“Absolutely not.”
You lean in, close enough to feel his breath catch, your mouth brushing the shell of his ear.
“Thanks, baby.”
Mark’s brain stopped working.
His body locks up. Shoulders tense. Jaw slack. You swear you can hear his heartbeat from across the room.
His hands grips your waist, hard and instinctive, like he’s afraid the moment will vanish if he doesn’t hold onto it. His head drops back with a soft, helpless whimper — the kind he’d deny with every breath in his body later, but can’t suppress now.
“I’m not okay,” he breathes, eyes fluttering shut. “You’ve ruined me. Say it again.”
You’re still laughing, shoulders shaking, when his hand comes up and gently wraps around your wrist, pulling you closer— not rough, not demanding, just desperate.
Like he doesn’t even know what he’s doing. Like he just needs to feel you to know this is real.
“Say it again,” he pants, pupils blown wide. “I need to know it wasn’t an accident.”
You shrug, smirk curling at your lips. “It was an accident.”
“Liar,” he whispers.
His arms wrap around you tight, locking you in place. “You said it like you meant it.”
You pause. The laugh dies in your throat. Because something about the way he says it—quiet. steady. awestruck—makes your pulse stutter.
You drop your eyes to his lips. Your fingers are on his chest now, feeling the rapid thrum of his heart under your palm.
“You like it when I call you that, baby?”
His breath shudders. His grip on your waist tightens— like he can barely hold himself back.
You see the shift in his eyes. The air between you shifts—turns weighty, electric. Mark leans in, just enough that his nose brushes yours. He breathes you in.
The room suddenly feels warmer, your clothes feel suffocating.
“Don’t say that,” he warns, voice rough. “Unless you want me to lose control.”
You grin, tilting your hips against his.
“Maybe I do want you to lose control.”
That undoes him.
He grips your thighs, hard, and flips you underneath him in one swift, desperate motion. Your back hits the cushions with a soft thump, stealing your breath before you can even think.
His body hovers above yours, warm and tense and trembling.
He moves before he even thinks—
No more softness. No teasing.
His mouth crashes into yours like he needs to consume you— tongue licking into your mouth like he needs to taste the word baby right off your tongue.
His hands are already under your shirt, sliding up your stomach, dragging the fabric with them.
He groans into your mouth when he feels your bare skin— feels you tremble.
His lips leave yours, trailing down your jaw to the curve of your neck to your collarbone.
“You don’t get to say that and act innocent,” he growls, nipping at your skin.
His fingers slide down, skimming just above the waistband of your shorts— not quite dipping beneath, just teasing the edge.
“You’re fucking soaked through your shorts and I haven’t even touched you.”
You gasp, hips jerking.
“Want me to behave?” he hisses. “When you’re like this?”
You whimper.
He pulls back just enough to look at you—his hair falling into his eyes, lips flushed, chest rising and falling like he just ran a mile.
“You trust me?” he asks again, but this time it’s a whisper against your lips.
His fingers pause at the waistband of your shorts.
You nod, breathless. “Yes.”
You shift against him, guiding his hand lower. “I want this.”
He shoves your shorts down with one rough tug— underwear too— not even bothering to fully take them off.
He slides his hand between your legs, fingers slipping through your folds, achingly slow.
He groans the second he feels it.
“Jesus fuck,” he breathes.
His eyes flick up to yours, hazy and dazed.
“You’re dripping. Did that word really get you this wet, baby?”
You can’t answer. Can’t even think.
Your head drops back, and your hips lift instinctively into his hand.
He doesn’t rush.
He takes his time with you— running his fingers along your slit, collecting your slick and dragging it up in slow, lazy circles around your clit.
You jolt beneath him, letting out a broken noise. Somewhere between a gasp and a whimper.
“Greedy already?” he murmurs, voice hot against your skin. “Thought you didn’t do pet names.”
“Mark—fuck—please—”
“Oh, please now?” he teases. “Begging so sweet already. What if I make you say it again?”
He leans in, lips brushing your ear. “Say it.”
You gasp.
“Baby.”
He groans—deep and guttural—like he’s unraveling from the inside out.
Then he sinks one finger into you.
Your back arches. Your walls clench instantly, the stretch rips a cry from your lips, and he watches—entranced.
His eyes are dark, locked on the way your body opens up for him, your mouth parting, breath stuttering.
“Yeah, that’s right,” he murmurs, his mouth brushing your pulse. “Say it when I’m inside you.”
He starts to move—slow thrusts, deep and rhythmic. Each push of his finger drags a little moan out of you.
He curls his finger just right—presses deep and up—
and you gasp, hands scramble at his hoodie, digging into the fabric like it’s the only thing keeping you grounded.
His second finger slides in beside the first. He drags his fingers just right, slow and deliberate, making your stomach clench. His palm grinds against your clit every time he thrusts.
The wet sounds of your pussy echo with every stroke.
“You hear that?” he growls. “You’re so wet I can fucking hear it, baby. That’s all you. All for me.”
You cry out, hips lifting to grind into his hand.
Mark’s eyes are wild. Possessive.
He watches you like you’re unraveling just for him— like your pleasure is the only thing that exists.
“Mark—oh my god—don’t stop—”
He doesn’t. His fingers move faster now, smoother. Purposeful. Pressing again at that spot.
Your thighs tremble. Your breath comes in shallow gasps. Every nerve feels tight, like a bowstring ready to snap.
He laughs, low and breathless, and kisses your neck, open-mouthed and hungry.
“Gonna cum on my fingers?” he breathes, curling them again. Dragging his palm over your clit in steady circles as his fingers fuck you deep. “Gonna fall apart just from my hand?”
You can’t answer. You’re too close. Too far gone.
“Say it again,” he breathes, lips brushing your jaw. “Let me hear it.”
“Baby—fuck, I’m—”
He groans, deep and broken, like it cracked something open inside him.
He’s gone. No hesitation. No holding back—just raw, hungry need as his fingers move faster.
“That’s it,” he pants. “Just like that—baby, fuck—cum for me— let me feel it.”
Your breath catches.
One more stroke like and—
You break.
The orgasm hits so hard it steals the breath from your lungs. Your whole body jolts—back arching, legs locking around his hand. A cry rips from your throat, loud and raw.
Your walls pulse around his fingers as he fucks you through it, stroking you with deep, steady thrusts—like he wants to memorize every twitch, every moan.
“Holy fuck,” he whispers.
“That’s so fucking hot—baby, fuck,” he moans, like he feels it in his soul.
He doesn’t stop until your hips twitch and you go soft beneath him, whimpering from the sensitivity.
Then he slows, easing out of you with soaked fingers, his eyes drinking you in like he’s never seen anything more divine.
He sits back on his knees, eyes raking over you like he can’t believe what just happened. You’re a mess—hair damp, skin flushed, eyes glassy. Your chest rises and falls in shallow, shaky breaths — like your body’s still chasing the echo of his touch.
Mark exhales hard, staring at his wet fingers, trembling slightly — Then at you. Then—
without a word he brings his fingers to his mouth and licks them clean
One by one. Slow. Obscene. Eyes never leaving yours.
You make a sound you didn’t know you were capable of, and he smirks.
He leans in, presses a kiss to your temple.
Then one to your cheek.
Then your lips—soft now, careful.
“You have no idea what you just did to me,” he breathes.
You smile, dazed and wrecked. “You’re dramatic.”
He shakes his head slowly, eyes locked on yours.
“No. I’m obsessed.”
You groan, hiding your face in his hoodie. He laughs, warm and breathless, as he leans down and presses a kiss to the crown of your head.
He lowers himself beside you on the couch, pulling you into his chest like something precious. Like he’s afraid if he lets go, this whole night will vanish into smoke.
The silence between you now isn’t awkward. It’s heavy in a good way. Thick with something neither of you wants to say out loud yet. So instead, he just holds you.
For a long moment, the only sound is the soft thrum of the TV. Your breathing syncs with his.
Then — quietly, tentatively — he speaks again.
“Baby,” he says again, like a prayer. Like a confession. “I’m gonna make you say that every time I touch you.”
You bury your face in his neck, body still tingling.
“You broke me. I’m changed. That word will haunt me—in the best way,” he says, grinning.
You curl into his chest, breath syncing with his, safe in the warmth of his arms. Your fingers trace idle circles over his chest, hidden beneath the cotton of his hoodie. Slow and aimless. He holds you tighter and breathes you in, like he doesn’t want to let go.
“Say it again,” he whispers into your hair.
You blink. Look up.
“Not for sex,” he murmurs. “Not to mess with me. Just… say it.”
He looks at you like he’s holding his breath. Like he’s asking for a secret. A promise.
You lift your hand to his face, fingers brushing his jaw, gentle. He turns into your touch instinctively.
And you say it.
Soft. Sure. No teasing this time.
“I love you, baby.”
Mark exhales — a sound that’s almost a laugh, almost a sob. Like relief, like peace.
Like he can’t believe you’re real.
Like you just gave him the world with one small word—
The one word he thought he’d never hear.
Baby.

Hard Launch - Part 1
Paige x Azzi
Word count: 3k
Warnings: just fluff, enjoy :)
a/n & update: decided to make this a two-parter because I loved the idea of how they handle the launch, so part 2 coming up soon.
——
The Dallas Wings had just closed out one of their biggest wins of the season. The energy in the arena buzzed like electricity still trapped in the rafters. Paige was riding high off the adrenaline and her first career triple-double—twenty-two points, ten assists, eleven rebounds, and three steals—and now she was heading straight into the post-game press conference.
She should’ve been focused on the game breakdown. But all she could think about was the girl in the front row wearing her jersey.
Azzi.
Azzi had flown in earlier that morning, slipping into town just in time for tipoff. And now there she was—sitting courtside like a secret Paige couldn’t keep much longer. Her long legs crossed, curls pulled back in a half-ponytail, and Paige’s blue #5 jersey hanging oversized on her frame like it belonged there.
Which it did.
Paige had tried not to look too much during the game. Had tried not to stare. Had tried to stay composed when Azzi smiled at her after a tough finish at the rim. She didn’t want to give anything away.
But she was already too far gone.
Now, seated at the table with the mic in front of her, bright lights overhead and cameras rolling, Paige took a sip from her water bottle and shifted in her chair. Reporters peppered her with the usual questions—game strategy, her chemistry with her teammates, how she feels about her triple-double.
And then a different voice cut through.
“Paige, there’s been some buzz online recently—not just about Azzi Fudd sitting courtside again tonight in your jersey, but about a photo she posted a few weeks ago. Fans noticed the phone case she was holding said ‘Paige Bueckers’ girlfriend.’ Do you want to comment on your relationship with her?”
It hit like a full-body static shock.
Paige blinked. The words came before she could stop them.
“I mean… it’s not a secret,” she said, her voice a little softer than usual. “She’s… she’s someone really important to me.”
A few reporters smiled knowingly. Some just raised their brows and started typing.
“I guess if you’re asking if we’re together… yeah. We are,” Paige added with a nervous laugh. “And I’m lucky as hell.”
There was a pause. Not uncomfortable—just charged. And then came the next question, and the conference moved on like nothing happened.
But Paige’s heart was pounding like it had just sprinted a full-court press.
—-
She slipped out of the press room five minutes later, ditching the rest of her team’s entourage to head back toward the tunnel. Her hands were jammed in her pockets, and her hoodie was pulled up over her bun like a kid trying not to get caught skipping school.
When she rounded the corner and spotted Azzi waiting near the bench, that nervous beat inside her exploded.
Azzi was standing casually, still wearing the jersey, arms crossed and eyes locked right on her. Paige stopped short a few feet away.
“Hey,” she said.
Azzi tilted her head, lips curling into something equal parts amused and affectionate. “Hey.”
“Sooo… I might’ve… hard launched us.”
“In the press conference?” Azzi asked with a hint of surprise.
Paige nodded slowly. “Like… national media hard launched.”
Azzi walked forward, closing the distance between them. “What’d you say?”
“That you’re important to me.” Paige looked down, then back up. “That we’re together. And that I’m lucky.”
Azzi’s smile deepened. “You are.”
Paige let out a breathy laugh. “Don’t gas me up right now, I’m freaking out.”
“You’re fine.” Azzi reached up, gently pulling Paige’s hoodie back. “You looked hot tonight, by the way.”
“I scored twenty-two points,” Paige said, mostly to hide how much her cheeks were burning.
“And you still couldn’t stop looking at me,” Azzi teased.
“Not my fault you looked like a walking fantasy in my jersey.”
Azzi leaned in, brushing a kiss to her cheek. “I love you.”
Paige stilled. Not because it was the first time—it wasn’t—but because it always landed with the same quiet force.
“I love you too,” she said. “Even when you make me sweat bullets in front of a dozen reporters.”
Azzi laughed and took her hand. “Let ‘em sweat. You’ve got nothing to hide anymore.”
—-
They kicked off their shoes the second they walked into the apartment. Paige dropped her bag by the door and tugged off her hoodie, the post-game haze finally catching up to her. Azzi didn’t say much—just beelined to the couch, where she threw herself down, still wearing Paige’s Wings jersey and looking completely at home.
Paige walked past the kitchen. “You want tea?”
“Nope,” Azzi called, already pulling out her phone. “I want the internet.”
Paige groaned, spinning on her heel. “Please tell me you’re not checking Twitter.”
“I am absolutely checking Twitter,” Azzi said, already scrolling. “We’re trending.”
“Kill me.”
Azzi grinned. “Okay wait—listen to this one. ‘Paige Bueckers dropping “she’s someone really important to me” like she wasn’t about to break every sapphic heart in America.’ And—wait—‘Hard launched like a NASA rocket and I’m here for it.’”
Paige flopped down next to her and let her head fall into Azzi’s lap. “Why do I sound like I was about to propose?”
“Because you kind of did,” Azzi said, brushing fingers through her hair. “You were nervous. But it was adorable.”
“I was losing my mind,” Paige muttered into her thigh. “I think I blacked out after I said ‘important.’”
Azzi laughed. “You said you were ‘lucky as hell’”
“God.”
“You want a massage? I feel like that level of emotional panic requires some kind of body work.”
Paige grinned into her lap. “Maybe. But only if I can pretend I’m not seeing every post about us.”
Azzi kept scrolling with one hand while the other gently worked at the knots in Paige’s shoulders.
She continued to read the tweets out loud so Paige could hear.
@wnbafanatic: UMMM PAIGE BUECKERS JUST CASUALLY CAME OUT AND SAID AZZI IS HER GIRLFRIEND???
@wingsupdates: Paige saying she’s “lucky as hell” re: Azzi has me kicking my feet.
@queerhoops: We finally got the #Pazzi confirmation we needed and DESERVED. 🥹🏀💙
@barstoolcollege: Paige & Azzi might be the power couple of the decade.
@pazzi4life: Yeah okay, fork found in kitchen. We been known, Paige. 🥹
Paige sighed and turned over to sit up beside her. “Okay. Real talk?”
Azzi nodded, instantly setting her phone aside.
“I wasn’t scared to tell our parents when we did. Or our friends. Or the team. I mean, they already knew,” Paige said, pulling the blanket up over both their legs. “I was scared to tell… them.”
“The world?”
“Yeah. The internet. The fans. The media. All of it.”
Azzi watched her, quiet.
“I’ve spent my whole life being ‘Paige Bueckers,’ you know? This brand, this idea, this… golden girl. I didn’t know how people would take it if I let them see you. Us.”
“You didn’t want to break the illusion,” Azzi said gently.
“I didn’t want to give them something to tear apart.”
Azzi leaned closer. “I get it. It’s not nothing, coming out publicly. Especially in our position.”
Paige looked down at their hands. “I didn’t want anyone to ruin this.”
Azzi squeezed her fingers. “Then don’t let them. They don’t get to touch this unless we let them.”
Paige exhaled. “You’re so sure.”
“I am,” Azzi said. “Because I love you. And I’m not scared of people seeing that.”
Paige was quiet for a beat. “I think I am… but I’m done hiding more than I’m scared of being seen.”
Azzi smiled. “Then we’re good.”
They leaned into each other, kissing slowly, wrapped up in warmth and familiarity. The rest of the world faded out with each soft brush of lips, each lazy laugh between kisses. Eventually, Azzi tugged Paige down with her, their bodies curling together beneath the blanket.
Paige shifted so her hand brushed under the hem of the jersey Azzi was wearing. Azzi responded instantly, deepening the kiss, hands moving to Paige’s waist.
“I meant what I said,” Paige whispered into her mouth. “You’re mine.”
Azzi’s breath hitched. “Then show me.”
—-
Paige stirred awake to sunlight leaking through her bedroom curtains, warm and golden across the sheets. For a minute, she didn’t move—just let herself feel the weight of Azzi’s arm across her stomach, the soft rise and fall of her girlfriend’s breath at her shoulder.
Everything was still. Quiet. Safe.
And then it hit her.
“Oh my god,” she whispered, eyes widening.
Azzi blinked awake beside her. “Mmm?” she murmured, voice thick with sleep.
Paige turned her head slowly. “I said it. Out loud. On record. In a press conference. That we’re together.”
Azzi smiled into the pillow, eyes still mostly closed. “You did.”
Paige groaned and rolled onto her back, covering her face with both hands. “I hard launched us in front of the national media.”
Azzi laughed now, fully awake. “And it was kind of perfect.”
Paige peeked through her fingers. “Was it?”
Azzi propped herself up on one elbow. “Yeah. You were honest. Sweet. Brave.”
Paige went quiet for a moment. “I wasn’t trying to be brave. It just slipped out. But then afterward, I couldn’t stop thinking about all the people who are gonna have opinions about it.”
Azzi’s smile softened. “You wanna talk about it?”
Paige exhaled, turning onto her side to face her. “It’s not that I didn’t want people to know. I just… we’re already so visible, you know? Everything we do gets watched, commented on, judged. Coming out—publicly—it feels like giving people even more to pick apart.”
Azzi nodded slowly, eyes full of understanding. “I get it. I felt the same way.”
“When you asked me if you could post the phone case selfie, you were so sure. Were you not worried?” Paige asked.
Azzi smiled. “I was, but I wanted you to know I was ready, even if you weren’t yet.”
Paige’s heart clenched a little at that. “You weren’t trying to speed up the launch?”
“No,” Azzi said immediately. “I just didn’t want you to think I was ashamed or hiding.”
“I never thought that,” Paige said softly. “I’ve just been scared. Not of being with you—never that. Just scared of what people might say. The fallout. The attention.”
Azzi reached out and laced their fingers together. “The people who love us already know. The rest will catch up or get over it.”
“And if they don’t?”
“Then we still have us,” Azzi said. “And I think that’s enough.”
Paige nodded, a small smile tugging at her lips. “I think it is too.”
Azzi leaned in to kiss her forehead. “You’ve got practice soon, rookie. Better get moving.”
Paige groaned again. “Think if I fake a sprained ankle, Coach’ll let me skip it?”
“Not a chance.”
—-
Practice was in full swing when Paige jogged into the gym, hair still damp from her shower and a faint flush clinging to her cheeks that had nothing to do with running drills.
Arike was the first to greet her.
“Well, well, if it isn’t Paige ‘lucky as hell’ Bueckers,” she teased, grinning from across the court.
Paige rolled her eyes. “Oh god. Not you too.”
“Rook, the entire internet is quoting you.”
Dijonai walked by and bumped her shoulder. “That was a hell of a hard launch.”
Lyss followed, looping her arm around Paige. “More like a detonation.”
Paige groaned. “Y’all are relentless.”
“Hey,” Arike said, smirking. “We’ve known about you two forever. You just made it public. We’ve been sitting on our hands not tagging Azzi in thirst tweets out of respect.”
“You’re welcome,” Dijonai added with a wink.
Lyss leaned in. “But for real… we’re proud of you.”
Paige looked around at her teammates—all smirking, playful, and totally in her corner.
“Thanks,” she said, meaning it.
And just like that, they were back to business. But Paige felt different. Lighter. Stronger. Seen.
And lucky as hell.
—-
Later that week, Paige and Azzi were getting ready for a charity gala. The apartment smelled like curling iron heat and perfume. Music played low in the background, a chill playlist on shuffle while the girls moved around each other—Azzi perched at the vanity in a silk champagne dress, Paige pacing near the closet in a deep navy suit that clung to her frame in all the right places.
“You’re gonna burn a hole in the floor,” Azzi teased, watching Paige pace.
Paige paused mid-step and met her eyes in the mirror. “You look so good it’s actually stressful.”
Azzi smirked as she added a dab of highlighter to her cheekbones. “We’re just going to a gala.”
“We’re going to a gala sponsored by my team, where we’ll walk a red carpet together, as a couple, for the first time,” Paige countered, adjusting her cuff links. “I think stress is valid.”
Azzi stood and walked over, smoothing down Paige’s lapel with practiced ease. “Then let me help you chill out.”
She leaned in and kissed her—softly, just a breath of pressure—and Paige visibly relaxed.
“You ready now?” Azzi asked.
Paige nodded. “Yeah. Let’s blow up the internet.”
—-
The car rolled up to the venue entrance, where a navy carpet stretched out under bright lights and a flurry of camera flashes. Other players and VIPs were already arriving in designer fits and sparkling gowns, but the energy shifted the moment Paige stepped out in her suit.
A few cameras flicked toward her—then froze when Azzi followed, hand sliding into Paige’s as they walked.
There was no hiding it tonight.
Photographers lit up like fireworks.
“Paige! Over here!”
“Azzi, give us a smile!”
“Ladies, together, please—look this way!”
Azzi felt Paige squeeze her hand.
“You okay?” she whispered.
Paige looked at her and smiled, “yeah let’s do this.”
Paige kept Azzi close, one hand securely on her waist as they posed together in front of the Dallas Wings media wall. When Azzi leaned in to say something, a photo caught Paige mid-laugh, head tilted, entirely smitten.
“Y’all are trending already,” muttered one of the Wings’ PR staff with a grin, holding up her phone.
As they made their way inside, Paige felt the nerves start to dissipate—not because the cameras stopped, but because Azzi was calm. Confident. Like this was just another date night. Like it was safe.
The event buzzed with Dallas media, corporate sponsors, and familiar WNBA faces. Paige and Azzi moved from group to group—greeting Wings staff, chatting with teammates and partners, posing for a few more photos inside.
“Paige, wow,” said the team’s marketing director as she shook her hand. “You clean up nice. And Azzi—so great to finally meet you in person. We’ve seen you at games, of course, but it’s nice to put a name to the face.”
Azzi smiled graciously. “Likewise.”
“You two look amazing together,” the woman added, almost in a hushed tone, like she wasn’t sure if she was allowed to say it.
“Thanks,” Paige said, squeezing Azzi’s hand. “We feel amazing together.”
A few feet away, one of the event’s older donors—a man in a crisp gray suit—caught sight of them and leaned in toward a colleague. “Oh, that’s Bueckers’ friend. The UConn kid.”
Paige heard it.
Azzi did too.
And while Azzi gave the man a gracious nod as they walked past, Paige didn’t let it slide.
She slowed, turned slightly, and said loud enough to be heard: “Actually, this is my girlfriend. Not just a friend. I know the difference.”
The man stammered—something about meaning no offense—but Paige was already walking away, Azzi’s hand tucked tightly in hers.
“You didn’t have to do that,” Azzi said quietly.
“I wanted to,” Paige replied. “I’m not letting anyone downplay what we are. Not anymore.”
—-
They collapsed into the Uber like they were finally exhaling after holding it in all night. Paige tugged her tie loose while Azzi kicked off her heels and tucked them beside her on the seat, her bare feet sliding over the leather.
Azzi leaned back, dress pooled around her thighs, and opened her phone. The screen lit up instantly.
“Oh my god. We’re everywhere,” she said, scrolling through mentions. “Twitter. TikTok. WNBA Reddit. There’s a clip of you calling me your girlfriend with this dramatic music under it. The lesbians are unwell.”
Paige grinned and rested her head against the cool window, one arm casually draped across Azzi’s lap. “Good. Let ’em spiral.”
Azzi clicked over to her camera roll and scrolled until she landed on the photo—the one from the carpet where Paige had her arm wrapped tight around Azzi’s waist, both of them looking at each other instead of the camera, smiling like the rest of the world didn’t exist.
She held it up. “What about this one?”
Paige glanced over and immediately nodded. “Yeah. That’s the one.”
“We posting it?”
“Together?”
Azzi smiled. “Hardest of hard launches. No going back.”
Paige sat up and reached for her phone too. “Let’s do it.”
They sat side by side in the dark Uber, phones glowing between them as they each uploaded the photo.
Azzi typed first:
“Couldn’t be prouder to stand beside you, on and off the court 💙 #HardLaunch”
Paige stared at her screen for a beat, then typed:
“Took my shot & she said yes 🥹 #LuckyAsHell”
They looked at each other and tapped post at the same time.
Seconds later, their phones lit up in tandem—likes, comments, reposts already flowing in like a tidal wave. But for once, Paige didn’t care what any of them said.
Azzi leaned into her side. “How do you feel?”
Paige turned toward her and answered without hesitation. “Like I’ve never been more proud of anything in my life.”
Azzi’s lips curled. “Not even your triple double last week?”
“Not even close.”
She took Azzi’s hand, threading their fingers together.
“Tonight,” Paige said, eyes locked on her, voice low and warm, “you made me feel like the most complete version of myself. And it’s not because of the cameras or the suits or the headlines. It’s just… you. You make me feel like I don’t have to hide any part of me.”
Azzi swallowed, visibly moved.
Paige leaned in and kissed her—soft, but certain.
They pulled back only when the driver cleared his throat and announced, “You’re home.”
But in Paige’s head, the word didn’t mean the apartment.
It meant the girl sitting next to her.

WARNINGS: Established relationship, cursing, talks of minor injuries, minor talks of violence, overall fluff, steamy kiss, slight angst, typical Hangman behavior, incorrect military details (sorry)!
A/N: Ugh! I need a man like Bob! 😫 I have been sucked back into my 2022 Top Gun era and Lewis Pullman has me in such a chokehold which is why this was written. Hope y’all enjoy! Divider by @thecutestgrotto <3

Never in your wildest dreams did you think you’d fall for a military man. Not because you didn’t respect them, you did. You’d seen what that kind of life demanded: the discipline, the bravery, the sacrifices. But you'd also seen the ego, the recklessness, and the emotional walls that seemed to come with the uniform. You knew their type, inside and out. Especially because you were raised right alongside one.
Jake “Hangman” Seresin wasn’t just your older brother. He was a force of nature, sharp smile, sharper jawline, and enough swagger to make heads turn before he even stepped foot in a room. He’d always been that way. The golden boy. The daredevil. The protector. And as his little sister, you were someone he guarded with his life. Especially, when it came to men.
Every birthday party, every school dance, every casual dinner date you attempted growing up had been intercepted by Jake. Sometimes he scared them off with a pointed glare. Sometimes it was a not-so-subtle, “I’m watching you.” And sometimes it was just his mere presence, standing a little too close, arms crossed over his chest like he was waiting for an excuse to break someone’s nose.
At first, it had almost been sweet, he was simply looking out for you. But as the years passed, it became suffocating. You weren’t fragile. You didn’t need saving. And yet, he treated you like some porcelain doll that might crack if someone so much as looked at you the wrong way. God forbid it was someone in the Navy. It was safe to say that you had grown so tired of flight suits.
That’s why you built a life as far away from that world as you could. Your work meant everything to you. You were a licensed therapist, specializing in trauma and stress-related disorders, an emotionally demanding job, but one that gave you purpose. You spent your days helping others unpack the things they carried, offering a safe space for people to speak their truth, even when it broke your heart.
You had your own small private practice just off base, tucked into a converted bungalow with soft lighting and calming artwork on the walls. It smelled faintly of lavender and worn paperbacks, and your bookshelf overflowed with psychology texts, handwritten notes, and dog-eared poetry collections. Your life was rooted in listening. In feeling. In forming connections.
And if, some nights, the weight of everyone else’s pain lingered in your chest, well, you’d made peace with that. You had your quiet apartment, your plants, your routines. You knew how to breathe through the noise. You were proud of what you’d built. Which made what happened next was all the more unexpected. You weren’t planning to go out that night.
It had been a long, exhausting week, three new clients, a crisis session, and a war veteran who hadn’t said a single word until your fifth session together. You were mentally and physically drained, emotionally raw. You had planned to stay in, maybe order Thai food and watch something mindless just to silence your thoughts. But your phone lit up with a message from Penny.
Swing by the Hard Deck tonight. First drink’s on me! 🍹
You almost said no.
But, surprisingly, something pushed you to say yes. So without thinking too much, you slipped into an orange sundress, threw on your favorite sandals, and drove the familiar road to the beach. As always, the Hard Deck buzzed with music, laughter, and the sound of boots hitting the wooden floors. The scent of sea salt and beer filled the air, and the jukebox was already playing something classic, probably something from Maverick’s rotation.
You knew half the faces there. A few pilots you’d grown up around. Some you had met through Jake. Speaking of Jake, of course he was already there, was holding court by the pool table, cue stick in hand, that ever-confident grin on his face. Same old scene. Same old bar. Penny spotted your first, waving you over as she started making your go-to drink. You smiled, walking over and giving her a hug behind the bar.
“Here, looks like you need it.” You smiled, accepting the fruity cocktail from her hands. As she attended to the other bar patrons, you sat in a nearby stool, fully intending to linger just long enough to be polite before heading back out so that you could crawl into bed by 10PM. Only, the universe seemed to have different plans, because that's when you saw him. He was tucked away in the corner of the bar, half-shadowed by the low glow of the neon beer signs above.
He sat with a bottle of beer in hand, long fingers loosely curled around the neck of it, his posture slightly hunched like he was doing his best not to take up too much space. His glasses were a little fogged from the humidity, slipping just slightly down the bridge of his nose. He reached up now and then to adjust them, eyes flicking around the bar like he was trying to blend into the furniture.
Not hiding, exactly, just keeping to himself. He wasn’t laughing with the others, wasn’t showing off at the dartboard, and he definitely wasn’t trying to flirt with anyone. In a room full of men with too much confidence and not enough subtlety, he was different. You couldn’t look away. There was something almost disarming about how awkward he looked. Like he wasn’t quite sure what to do with his hands or where to rest his gaze.
But even in all that quiet discomfort, there was something gentle about him. You were too far in your head when he looked up, and caught you staring. Your breath hitched, just slightly. But instead of looking away like most people would, he offered a sheepish, crooked smile. And you smiled back, because how could you not? He dropped his gaze immediately, taking a sip of his beer like maybe he was embarrassed by the brief moment of eye contact.
It only made him even more endearing.
You turned back toward Penny behind the bar, trying to play it cool, but your voice betrayed your interest. “Hey Penny, who’s the guy in the corner?” Penny followed your gaze, then gave you a knowing little smile. “That’s Bob.” You hummed, faking interest, taking a sip of your drink. “Lieutenant Robert Floyd. WSO. Flies backseat for Phoenix.” She added casually, wiping down a glass. “One of the good ones. Real quiet, but sweet as hell. Kind of Jake’s opposite.”
That earned a short laugh out of you. “So, he's not a pilot?” You smiled behind the rim of your glass. “He is, technically. But he’s the kind that listens more than he talks.” Penny raised an eyebrow. “Why? Are you interested?” Instead of responding, you glance over your shoulder again. Bob was staring down at the condensation on his bottle, idly tracing circles with his fingertip like he’d rather be anywhere else, and yet, somehow, he didn’t look miserable.
Just… out of place.
“Maybe.” You murmured, trying to sound nonchalant, but the truth betrayed you in the form of heat creeping up the back of your neck. You lifted your drink to cover the slight twitch of a smile you couldn’t suppress. Penny leaned in with a smirk, wiping down the bar like she wasn’t studying your every move. “Then don’t wait too long,” She coaxed under her breath, voice teasing. “Use that Seresin charm. Guys like that don’t usually make the first move.”
You glanced back at him. He was still in the corner, tracing the rim of his bottle with his thumb, eyes low, posture slightly slouched like he was trying to shrink himself into the background. But something about him, it tugged at you. Maybe it was the way his eyes had flicked toward you moments ago, a little wide, like he couldn’t believe someone like you had noticed him. Like he wasn’t used to being seen.
Or maybe, just maybe, you were tired of playing it safe. Tired of living under your brother’s ever-watchful gaze. Tired of waiting for permission you never needed in the first place. Your fingers tightened around the glass as you made your decision. You slid off your stool, smoothing down your dress like it could steady your nerves, and crossed the bar, each step quickening your heartbeat. “Mind if I sit?” You asked, voice smooth, chin tilted ever so slightly in confidence, fake or not.
He looked up at you, caught off guard. His expression flickered, first surprise, then something gentler. He cleared his throat, straightening a little. “Uh—yeah. I mean, no. I don’t mind.” You smiled and took the seat beside him, the wood cool against your skin as you eased into it. “Thanks, I’m Y/N.” You extended your hand across the small gap between you. The contact was instant, his larger palm warm, slightly rough from flight gloves, his grip unsure but respectful nonetheless.
“B-Bob,” He mumbled out. “Well, Robert. But, um… everyone calls me Bob.” You smiled, loving how blush dusted his cheeks. “Nice to meet you, Bob,” You let his name linger, giving it weight as your gaze swept over his face, softer up close, his features earnest and boyish beneath his glasses which hid his captivating cerulean blue eyes. “So… you always hang out in dark corners, or is tonight a special occasion?” The edges of his mouth twitched with a quiet, amused smile.
“Just trying to stay out of the way.” You raised a brow, slightly leaning into him so your shoulders were touching. “Of who?” You teased, head tilting. “The loud ones? Or the terrifying older brothers?” That made his eyes widen slightly behind his lenses, and you didn’t miss the way he stiffened, the realization hitting like a gust of wind. He blinked once. Then again. “Y-You’re… Hangman’s sister?” You sipped your drink, nodding slowly. “Guilty as charged, Lieutenant.” You winked as Bob stared for a moment.
You could practically see the gears turning behind his eyes, fast, nervous, cautious. “You gonna run, Bob?” You asked, eyebrow lifting, lips curved just enough to keep it playful. You wouldn’t have blamed him. You were used to that look. You’d seen it before on a dozen other faces. Guys who decided no girl was worth catching hell from Jake Seresin. But Bob surprised you. He didn’t bolt. Didn’t stammer out a goodbye or glance over his shoulder like he was looking for an exit.
Instead, he just smiled, really smiled, and for the first time, something inside you fluttered. His whole face shifted when he did, gentle and sincere, like the smile had been waiting for the right moment to be let out. His shoulders dropped, and the tension in his spine eased as his nerves melted into quiet warmth. The corners of his eyes crinkled behind his glasses, and the golden bar light caught the faint dimple in his cheek, softening his whole demeanor.
Something about it, about him, felt honest. “Not unless you tell me to.” His voice was low, laced with a touch of humor, but no hint of fear whatsoever. And that was it. And you knew then… you were in trouble. Of course, right on cue, nothing good in your life ever slipped past Jake unnoticed. And the moment your brother spotted you talking to someone, especially someone in uniform, he made a beeline across the bar like a guided missile.
“Seriously?” He muttered under his breath, then louder. “She’s off-limits.” He slung an arm around your shoulder, the heavy weight of it both familiar and infuriating, while his eyes narrowed at Bob like he’d caught him trying to hack into the Pentagon. His voice was low and sharp. “I mean it, Floyd.” To Bob’s credit, he didn’t bristle or shrink away. He didn’t puff his chest or try to argue. He just gave a small, respectful nod, calm, measured. “Understood.” You expected him to walk away after that.
Hell, Jake even expected him to.
That was usually the part where most men retreated, tail between their legs, deciding no woman was worth facing down a protective older brother with a reputation like Hangman’s. But Bob surprised you. Later that night, long after the initial rush of aviators had moved on to games of pool and darts, and Jake had wandered off to trash-talk some poor soul at the dartboard, you found yourself by the jukebox, flipping through the cracked plastic covers of old CDs. Then, a quiet voice spoke up from behind you.
“I know your brother’s... protective,” Protective was one way to put it, you thought to yourself. You glanced up from flipping through the CD’s as Bob shifted his weight from one foot to another, hands in the pockets of his khakis, standing just far enough away to give you space, but close enough that you could feel the sincerity in his tone. “But I’d still like to buy you a drink and maybe talk some more. I-If that’s alright with you of course.” You looked up, surprised and maybe a little impressed.
It was more than alright.
You gave him a nod, and the two of you sat at the end of the bar, away from prying eyes and Jake’s over-the-top dramatics. Conversation flowed easier than you expected. Bob wasn’t flashy or performative, he was thoughtful. Funny in a dry, unexpected way. A little awkward, but charmingly so. That night turned into another. Then a real date. Then two. Then weeks of texts that made you smile at your phone like a teenager. Things didn’t move fast, they didn’t need to. With Bob, it was steady.
He remembered your favorite drink after the first time you ordered it. He walked you to your car every time, even if it meant doubling back on his own route. He asked about your day and actually listened, not just to respond, but to understand. He never interrupted. Never made you feel small. He laughed at your jokes, even the bad ones. He offered his hoodie on breezy beach nights without saying a word. And even had this quiet habit of checking on you.
Whether it was a text at the exact right time. A glance across a room that grounded you. And maybe most surprising of all, he made you feel safe. It didn’t matter that he flew backseat for one of the Navy’s best pilots. That he was part of a squad who took down a nearly impossible mission. That half the base jokingly called him “baby-on- board.” None of that defined him.
What mattered was that when you were with him, for the first time in years, you didn’t feel like someone’s little sister. You didn’t feel like someone to be guarded or shielded or spoken for. You just felt seen. Of course, that didn’t mean you were ready to throw it in Jake’s face. For a while, you and Bob kept things quiet. It wasn’t that you were ashamed, far from it. But you both agreed: Jake didn’t need to know just yet. You liked the way things were. Soft. Sacred. Yours.
Besides, the moment your brother found out you were seeing someone, especially someone on his squadron, he’d lose his mind. So you kept your dates discreet. Stolen kisses in parked cars. Quick coffee dates before his briefings. Whispered conversations during beach bonfires where no one was paying attention. And on one particularly slow afternoon, he stopped by your office. Your practice had just closed for the day. The soft hum of the white noise machine still filled the room, and the late sun poured through the windows.
Bob was leaning against the wall, hands in his pockets, pretending to read the spines of your books, psychology texts, self-help, a few novels tucked in like secrets. “I still can’t believe you keep a weighted blanket in your office.” He teased lightly, eyes glued to your legs as you reached for your laptop. “Trauma work, remember? Nervous systems love pressure. Plus, it’s cozy.” Bob stepped closer, a grin tugging at the edge of his mouth. “You’re cozy.” You mirrored his smile, letting out a lovesick giggle before you could stop it.
“Are you trying to flirt with me using therapeutic language?” His blue eyes twinkled with mischief stepping closer. “Is it working?” You laughed, and before you could answer, his lips were on yours. It was supposed to be just one kiss. A quick goodbye before he headed back to base, enough to hold you off until you could get your hands on him later that night. But then your back hit the wall, and his hands cupped your jaw like he was memorizing every curve of your face.
You instinctively melted into him, fingers curling into his fitted white t-shirt that had no business making his biceps look that good. His lips pressed to yours, slow at first, soft and searching, but it deepened quickly. His hands found your waist, sliding over the thin fabric of your blouse, fingers splaying wide as if to anchor himself in the feel of you. Bob groaned quietly into your mouth, the sound low, needy, almost reverent. His tongue slipped past your parted lips, tentative but eager, and you welcomed him in with a soft, breathy moan.
Your hands fumbled for his collar, pulling him closer, grounding yourself in the way he tasted. One of his hands slid up your side, fingers brushing under the hem of your shirt, calloused fingertips grazing the bare skin of your ribs. You shivered at the contact, arching into him instinctively. His other hand cupped the back of your neck, thumb stroking just below your ear as his mouth moved with yours, deeper, hungrier.
Your nails scraped lightly through his hair, mussing it from its neat comb, and that earned you another quiet groan that vibrated against your lips. The air between you felt heavy, time blurred. Nothing existed beyond the feel of his body against yours, the way he kissed you like he was starved for it, like he’d been holding back for weeks. Maybe he had. Your hips shifted, a little too eager, and you felt the subtle hitch of his breath as his hand gripped tighter at your waist, holding you there.
Which is how you didn’t hear the office door creak open until: “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” You both froze. Your lips were still tangled. Bob’s hand was still under your shirt. And Jake Seresin was standing in the doorway of your office, expression stuck somewhere between outrage and horror. You sprang apart, your heartbeat plummeted. And Bob, poor Bob, froze in place like someone had pulled the eject handle. Jake stood in the doorway, arms crossed, jaw clenched, face unreadable.
A vein twitched in his temple. “Jake—” You started, breathless, smoothing down your blouse. “It’s not, well, it is what it looks like, but—" Busted. “Of all the people,” Jake let out a sound somewhere between a growl and a sigh, dragging a hand down his face, then pinching the bridge of his nose like it physically pained him to witness what was happening. “Baby-on-board? Seriously, Y/N?!”
You instinctively stepped in front of Bob, shielding him with your body like your brother might actually tackle him through your office window. “Jake. Don’t.” Bob, didn’t move. His back was straight, blue eyes wide behind fogged-up glasses, lips parted as if mid-apology. His cheeks were flushed, his t-shirt slightly wrinkled from where your hands had just been. “I, uh… hi, Hangman." He offered awkwardly, pushing his glasses up with a shaky hand.
Jake stared at him, hard. Like he was cycling through a mental list of disciplinary actions and weighing the pros and cons of each one. “I told you once,” He growled slowly, voice like ice cracking. “My little sister is off-limits.” You stepped in again, squaring your shoulders, chin lifting. “And I told you I’m not twelve.” There was a beat of silence. Then Jake turned to you, jaw tight, mouth slightly open like he wanted to argue, but the fire behind his eyes dimmed.
You saw it, the shift. That split-second of hesitation. The realization. You weren’t his kid sister anymore, sneaking candy into movie theaters or crying over scraped knees. You weren’t some fragile thing he had to wrap in bubble wrap and keep hidden from the world. You were a grown woman. And you’d made your choice. “I’m your big brother,” He muttered voice quieter now, rough around the edges. “I’m supposed to look out for you.”
Your expression softened, shoulders dropping. “You always have. Better than anyone, but you don’t have to protect me from Bob. He'd never hurt me.” You glanced over your shoulder, eyes meeting Bob’s. Jake exhaled sharply through his nose and looked between the two of you. At Bob, still standing there like a soldier awaiting his court-martial. And at you, arms folded, gaze unwavering. After a pregnant pause, a long, reluctant sigh left his chest. “Are you really into him?”
You didn’t hesitate. “Yeah. I am.” Jake stared at him for another long second, then finally, finally, cracked the smallest smirk. “Jesus Christ. If this is happening, I don’t want to hear about it and I definitely don’t want to see it.” He turned toward the door, muttering under his breath. “Shit, I need bleach for my poor eyes.” Then, he paused and glanced back “If you break her heart, Floyd, I don’t care how good of a WSO you are, I will make you wish you had ejected mid-flight.” Bob swallowed visibly and nodded.
“Understood.” You rolled your eyes, but the corners of your mouth lifted. It wasn’t exactly a blessing. But from Jake Seresin? It sure as hell was close enough. You smiled at the memory, lips curling as your thoughts drifted back. Since then, Jake had slowly eased up, still overbearing at times, but less of an asshole, finally starting to accept the reality that you and Bob were together. It wasn’t instant, but it was progress.
Maybe it was the way Bob never rose to Jake’s bait, or maybe it was how he treated you, with a kind of quiet reverence that left little room for protest. Because Bob was nothing but attentive. The kind of man who remembered how you took your coffee, who sent midday check-in texts just to ask how your sessions had gone, who looked at you like you were his entire goddamn universe. He made you feel like the only girl in the world, seen, cherished.
Which is why, when your usual Thursday night rolled around, the one night you always carved out for each other, and Bob didn’t show… something inside you spiraled. You’d cleaned the apartment, lit one of your favorite candles, even queued up Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith knowing it was one of his favorites. His favorite hoodie was draped over the back of the couch, the one he always “forgot” to take home because he liked the way it smelled after you wore it.
The popcorn was in the bowl. The wine was chilling in the fridge. Take-out menus were on the coffee table. Everything was ready. Except him. You glanced at the clock. Once. Then again. Then again, your eyes flicking to the screen, then to the door, like maybe he’d appear if you wished hard enough. Each time, you brushed it off with a quiet, He’s probably still at the hangar. You knew the drill. Sometimes they got grounded late, schedules shifted.
But the minutes stretched into an hour. Then two. Still no text. No call. Just eerie silence. And Bob? When it came to date night, Bob was never late. When your phone finally rang, the shrill tone sliced through the stillness, making you jump. You scrambled for it, heartbeat thudding against your ribs as your thumb slid to answer without even checking the caller ID on the screen. “Hey, handsome,” You breathed out. “Are you on your way home yet?” Only, it wasn’t Bob’s voice that answered.
“Aww, Y/N,” Came the familiar, cocky drawl you had grown familiar with. “I knew you were lying to me all those times you called me ugly.” Your jaw clenched. Your eyes rolled before your brain could catch up. “Jake,” You snapped, already pacing. “What the hell, where’s Bob? Why are you calling me?” Your brother’s voice cut through the line, irritatingly casual. “Sorry for the late notice, but your beau isn’t making it to date night.” The floor practically dropped out from under you.
“What?! Why? Jake, what happened?” You barely heard yourself over the rush in your ears. Your pulse kicked up, adrenaline beginning to surge. He ignored the edge in your voice, brushing off your panic like it was nothing more than static. “Just come to base. I’ll be waiting at the gate to escort you inside.” Then the line went dead. You stared at your phone for a second, willing it to light up again, to clarify, to make sense. It didn’t.
Just the reflection of your stunned face in the dark screen. “God, I hate when he does that.” You muttered, voice low and sharp as you shoved the phone into your back pocket. Without wasting another breath, you yanked Bob’s hoodie over your head, feet shoving into the nearest pair of sneakers, fingers scrambling for your keys. Your heart thudded in your throat as you raced down the stairs, and out the door.
The base wasn’t far, thankfully. About a twenty-minute drive. You didn’t floor it, but your foot stayed heavy on the gas, knuckles white around the steering wheel. Your thoughts circled and twisted with every mile: Was he hurt? Why didn’t Bob call you himself? Was Jake just being dramatic, or worse, trying to protect you from something serious? By the time you reached the gate, your nerves were all over the place.
True to his word, Jake was waiting just past the security checkpoint, casual as ever, like this was a run-of-the-mill errand. You flashed your ID to the guard, who barely glanced at it before waving you through. You didn’t even bother straightening the car when you parked. The engine had barely cut before you threw the door open and leapt out. “Jake,” You barked, striding toward him with a glare. “You have one minute to explain yourself before I kick the shit out of you. Where’s Bob?”
Your brother slung an arm around your shoulder like this was all completely normal. The audacity of it made your teeth grit. “Relax, baby-on-board is fine.” He muttered, steering you forward. “Don’t call him that. How many times do I have to tell you before it sticks?” You snapped, elbowing him lightly. Jake lifted both hands in mock surrender, grinning like this was all part of a joke only he found funny. “Alright, alright fine. Just… follow me.” And without another word, he led you deeper into the base.
Your steps faltered, just slightly, as dread started to pool low in your stomach. Because something wasn’t right. You could feel it. Your suspicions were confirmed the moment Jake led you down the familiar corridor toward the medical bay. The sterile scent of antiseptic and the soft hum of fluorescent lights filled the air, too clean, way too quiet. Your heart pounded harder with every step. Then you saw them, Maverick and Bradley, standing a few feet away near the nurses’ station, mid-conversation.
Or they had been. The second their eyes landed on you and Jake, their voices cut off like a switch had been flipped. “Mav,” You rasped, your voice laced with urgency as your eyes locked on his. They both turned fully now, posture straightening. Bradley offered a tense smile as he stepped forward to greet you, arms opening automatically. You didn’t hesitate, letting yourself fall into the hug, if only for the brief comfort of familiar arms and the steady heartbeat beneath his civilian clothes.
“Where’s Bob?” You asked again, for what felt like the hundredth time. The question burned now, raw and desperate, clawing up your throat. Maverick moved closer, his expression calm but lined with concern. “He’s alright,” He began, voice steady, measured, but the silence that followed said otherwise. The look, the flicker of shared worry between him, Bradley, and Jake did nothing to settle the growing storm in your chest. You could feel it building, pressure against your ribs.
Maverick exhaled slowly, like he didn’t want to alarm you but knew sugarcoating it wouldn’t help.“During today’s training, Phoenix and Bob suffered a bird strike. The impact triggered an engine fire, which spread fast and caused a total systems failure, both engines, and hydraulic controls.” Your breath hitched. “They had no choice but to eject,” He added, quieter now. “The medics brought them in immediately. They’re stable, conscious, and mostly okay. The doctors are keeping them overnight for observation.”
The words tumbled in slowly, too slow to process all at once. Bird strike. Engine fire. Ejection. The air felt thinner. The hallway longer. Your mouth moved before your brain could catch up. “C-Can I see him?” You asked, your voice barely more than a whisper. Maverick nodded, but you were already moving. Your sneakers squeaked against the linoleum as you bolted down the hallway, weaving past a nurse and ignoring the muted “Miss, wait—” that came from someone behind the desk.
When you spotted the door at the end of the corridor with Seresin scrawled hastily on the visitor clipboard and Floyd, R./Trace, N. listed beneath it, your chest constricted. You pushed the door open. You spotted Natasha first. She was reclined in the hospital cot closest to the door, propped up slightly by a pair of thin, starch-white pillows. Her skin looked pale under the sterile fluorescent lights, a stark contrast to the deep purpling bruise blooming along her cheekbone.
A butterfly bandage held a small cut together above her eyebrow, and her arm, though not in a cast, was wrapped in gauze from wrist to elbow. Still, she was awake. Alert. Breathing. “Nat,” You exhaled, already moving toward her. Her head turned at the sound of your voice. The split-second surprise in her expression melted into something warmer, despite the lingering pain behind her eyes. She pushed herself up with a small wince, the thin hospital blanket slipping off her shoulders.
“Y/N, hey,” She murmured, voice raspy but steady. Your arms were already wrapping around her before you could stop yourself. Your movements slowed as soon as you felt her body tense slightly, stiff from the impact, from the adrenaline still likely fading. She let out a breathy laugh against your shoulder, one arm curling weakly around you. “I’m glad you're here.” She murmured, voice muffled against your sweatshirt. You leaned back slightly to look at her, brushing a stray curl from her forehead, careful not to graze the fresh scrape on her temple.
It was safe to say that ever since you and Bob had started dating, you and Natasha had become inseparable. It started with casual conversations at the Hard Deck that turned into late-night wine nights, venting sessions, and a friendship built on fierce loyalty and shared eye-rolls at the men in your lives. Part of it, no doubt, came from the fact that she and Bob were more than just teammates, they were a crew. They trusted each other with their lives, and somewhere along the way, that trust naturally extended to you.
“I’m just glad you’re both okay.” You whispered. Natasha gave you a faint, lopsided smile, tired but genuine. “Yeah, well, Bob took the worst of it. I was lucky.” Your stomach dropped. You hadn’t even seen him yet. The cot next to hers was shielded slightly by a privacy curtain pulled partway across, and suddenly, you couldn’t breathe fast enough. Your eyes darted toward the edge of the curtain. “He’s awake. A little banged up. But, he’s been asking for you since we were brought in here.”
That was all it took. You gave her hand a gentle squeeze and whispered. “I’ll be right back.” Then, without hesitation, you stepped around the curtain, ready to face whatever was waiting on the other side. As soon as you rounded the curtain, your eyes found him. Bob was sitting upright, well, trying to. He winced slightly bracing himself on one elbow as he straightened in the cot, ignoring the tight pull of gauze around his ribs and the IV in his arm. Sensing the presence of someone in the room, he stopped fidgeting, blue eyes meeting yours.
You moved without thinking. The world blurred as you rushed across the room, the cool floor beneath your sneakers giving way to the warmth of his outstretched arms. He barely had time to brace himself before you collided with him, sinking into his chest, arms wrapping around his torso with desperate urgency. He winced, but his hands immediately came up, one cradling the back of your head, fingers threading gently through your hair, the other wrapping tightly around your waist.
His grip was firm, steady, anchored, as if the contact itself might undo the fear that had rooted in both of you. You buried your face into the crook of his neck, breathing in the familiar scent of his skin beneath the sterile tang of antiseptic. His heart was pounding hard beneath your cheek, fast and erratic, matching your own. “Shit, Bobby,” You whispered, voice trembling. “I thought—” You couldn’t even finish the sentence. “I know,” He murmured into your hair, his voice cracking with emotion.
“I’m sorry I scared you, sweetheart.” Then, more softly, almost sheepishly, he mumbled into your shoulder. “I’m also sorry I missed date night.” You nearly scoffed, half a laugh, half a sob, as you pulled back just enough to look at him, your fingers still tangled in the collar of his shirt. “Date night? Bob, I could care less about date night right now. I’m just glad you’re alive.” Bob’s selflessness never ceased to amaze you, how even through the haze of pain and adrenaline, his first thought had been about you, about letting you down.
As if your heart hadn’t broken in half the moment you realized he wasn’t where he was supposed to be. You clung to him tighter, your arms curling around his back, your fingers clutching at the fabric of his t-shirt like letting go wasn’t an option. Bodies wound tightly around one another, like you were trying to climb inside his chest and stay there. Like the only way to be sure he was real was to feel every inch of him pressed to you. He exhaled shakily, lips brushing your temple.
“All I kept thinking was that I had to get back to you.”That made your throat tighten even more. Your hand moved instinctively to his face, cupping his cheek, thumb grazing over a scratch along his jawline. His glasses were still slightly askew, and he hadn’t even bothered to fix them, too focused on you. “I’m right here,” He reassured, almost as if sensing your inner turmoil. “I’m okay. We’re okay.” In that moment, he held tightly in his arms, everything faded away.
There was only the thrum of his heartbeat beneath your palm and the soft warmth of his breath against your skin. You didn’t want to pull away, but when you finally did, it was only to take in his face. You brushed a thumb gently beneath his eye, tracing the faint bruise that had bloomed along his cheekbone. He looked a little beat up, but to you? He was perfect. Alive. And most importantly, breathing. His eyes met yours, impossibly blue beneath the smudged lenses of his crooked glasses.
They searched your face like he couldn’t quite believe you were here either. Like he was afraid if he blinked, you’d vanish. You leaned in again, this time slower, gentler, your hand cradling the side of his face. His breath caught just before your lips met, as if even now he was asking for permission without words. The kiss that followed was soft. No heat. No urgency. Just a lingering press of your mouths. You could feel the tremble in his shoulders as his hand slid up to the back of your neck, holding you there like he needed it as much as you did.
His lips parted slightly against yours, letting out the faintest sigh, and you melted into it, into him, feeling the world finally slow down. When you pulled back, your forehead rested against his. “I love you.” You whispered, the words weightless, certain. He smiled, eyes closed, breath warm against your cheek. “I love you more.” Just as you were about to lean in for another kiss, the door creaked open behind you. “Fucks sake, not this again.” Came the dry, unmistakable voice of your older brother.
You groaned softly, forehead dropping to Bob’s shoulder as he stifled a wince and a laugh at the same time. You were so close to murdering Jake and becoming an only child. “Do you have some kind of built-in radar for whenever we kiss?” You muttered into Bob’s shirt as his hand rubbed comforting circles on your back. “Apparently,” Jake scoffed, stepping fully into the room, arms crossed, brow raised in brotherly disapproval.
“I give it ten seconds and you look like you’re ready to climb the guy like a tree.” Bob straightened awkwardly, almost like a cadet caught doing something wildly against protocol. His cheeks flushed deep red, climbing all the way to the tips of his ears, and his hands instinctively loosened their hold on you. Before he could scoot even an inch away, your fingers curled gently but firmly around his bicep, grounding him right where he was as you shot Jake a glare. “What do you want now?”
Jake gestured vaguely at the two of you. “Don’t mind me. I’m just checking in on the critically injured WSO who, last I heard, had survived an emergency ejection, a bird strike, and now looks like he’s about two seconds away from a very different kind of cardiac episode, caused, I assume, by my little sister sticking her tongue down his throat.” Bob gave a tiny, nervous cough, his gaze flicking toward the heart monitor as if it might start blaring just to spite him. He wisely chose not to answer.
You smirked, leaning in to press a slow, lingering kiss to Bob’s temple, just to be petty. You felt the way his breath hitched beneath you, the way his fingers curled gently at your waist despite himself. Jake rolled his eyes so hard you were genuinely concerned they might get stuck that way. “I figured you’d be staying the night, so, I’ll leave you lovebirds to it. But don’t get any ideas. I’ll be back tomorrow, bright and early, and I better not walk in on a repeat performance, especially not with Phoenix two feet away.”
From the other side of the curtain, Natasha’s dry voice floated through like a dagger dipped in disinterest: “Fuck off.” You bit your lip to stifle the laugh that almost broke through. “There’s the door, Bagman.” You shot back, raising your middle finger without even looking at him. With one last grumble and an eye roll that nearly cracked his skull, Jake pulled back the curtain dramatically and disappeared down the hall, muttering something about needing a drink.
As soon as the door clicked shut behind him, Bob let out a soft breath, his entire body seeming to relax now that Jake had exited the room. He didn’t even need to ask. With a quiet grunt, he shifted on the narrow hospital cot, careful but determined, wincing slightly as he adjusted his IV line and tugged back the scratchy blanket with his good hand. It wasn’t much, but he made space for you like it was second nature, like your place had always been beside him, no matter the circumstances.
Without a word, you discarded your shoes and climbed in next to him, moving slowly, mindful of the bruises you couldn’t see and the ones you knew would surface by morning. The cot creaked under the added weight, but neither of you cared. Your head nestled into the curve of his shoulder, your hand drifting under the soft fabric of his t-shirt, fingers resting on the soft skin of his abdomen, like you just needed to feel he was real.
His arm slid around your waist, drawing you in with a familiarity that made your heart flutter. The other hand found its way into your hair, combing through the strands slowly, rhythmically, like he was soothing both of you at once. His thumb brushed absently along your spine in lazy arcs, and he let out a content when your legs tangled with his beneath the thin blanket.
The room had gone quiet, the soft beeping of monitors fading into the background like a lullaby. Wrapped in his arms, you tilted your head just enough to meet his eyes. “Still worth it?” You whispered, the question edged with lingering fear. Bob didn’t miss a beat. His smile was the same one he’d worn eight months ago, the first time he saw you across the bar. He pulled you closer, pressing a kiss to your forehead with a tenderness that made your chest ache.
“Every single second.”

can you write a oneshot about that munch - wordle interview answer?
Love that idea! It's not a long one shot, but I hope you like it:
MUNCH
The door clicked shut behind her with a dull thud, and Paige didn’t even bother locking it right away. She kicked off her sneakers in two lazy thumps, one bouncing off the wall, the other landing god knows where. Her t-shirt was already halfway off as she made her way toward the couch, peeled the rest off with a lazy tug, and let it land somewhere behind her. She really didn’t care where. She flopped face-first onto the cushions in nothing but her shorts and sports bra, the sticky late-June Dallas heat making everything feel like it took ten times more effort than it should have.
She groaned dramatically, then fished her phone out from under her and immediately pulled up Azzi’s contact.
Paige: Facetime dinner in 1 hour ?
She wanted to play it cool, play it casual, but the truth was, Paige needed her tonight. Nothing dramatic had happened. Training was fine. But the whole day felt heavy in that quiet, annoying way where everything just felt off. She had been dragging herself through it, but deep down, she knew the only thing that might refill her tank was seeing Azzi’s face while they both shoveled reheated leftovers into their mouths in front of their camera.
The reply came just a couple minutes later. Azzi: I’m home in 30, call you right away?
Paige exhaled, long and soft. Azzi got it.
Paige: Please.
There was a beat. Then:
Azzi: Are you ok?
Paige: Just tired and want to see my girl.
Azzi: I’ll try to hurry, okay babe? In the meantime, play Wordle. It’ll cheer you up. No cheating!
That made Paige squint at the screen. Wordle?
She rolled onto her back with a low groan, forehead scrunched. Why the hell was Azzi sending her to play Wordle right now? Sure, they used to get a kick out of solving them together back when it was viral, but that had been years ago. Paige hadn’t even thought about it since.
Still… she reached blindly for the iPad wedged somewhere between the couch cushions. Grumbling under her breath, she pulled up Safari and typed in "wordle." The site loaded with its usual grey-white grid.
With zero energy and even less brain power left after that intense training, Paige decided to go the basketball route. Azzi must’ve suggested Wordle for a reason. There had to be a connection. She was too tired to overthink it, so she just trusted the process and started typing.
First guess: SCORE.
Seemed right and on-brand. Only one yellow: C.
Paige frowned slightly. That wasn’t nothing, but it also wasn’t helpful.
Second guess: COACH.
Another basketball word. Subconscious doing all the work now. This time, second C went green, and H did too.
She blinked. Okay, okay. That was something. But… still felt like guessing in the dark. She tapped the back of the iPad rhythmically with her knuckles. She was hungry. Which, somehow, led her to…
Third guess: LUNCH.
Immediately, U, N, C, and H all turned green. Only the L was wrong.
Paige stared at the screen. She tilted her head, letting her tired brain catch up. Four letters in place. Just one left. She could feel it, the answer was right there. And then it hit her.
Azzi told me to play this.
And if it wasn’t basketball-related, then it had to be the other thing Azzi always swore could "relax her." Her eyes widened. She blinked once.
"Oh my god," she muttered, already typing.
Fourth guess: MUNCH.
The green squares lit up in a row, and Paige grinned for the first time since she walked in the door. Of course that was the word. She shook her head, biting her lip as her smile widened.
"You’re such a dumbass," she mumbled to herself, the grin never disappearing. She snapped a pic of the finished Wordle and sent it off with a message:
Paige: You tryna tell me something or…?
Three dots appeared immediately.
Azzi: Just making sure you are warmed up for dinner 😏
Paige groaned again, but this time it was way more flustered than fatigued. Her eyes fluttered shut as she dropped her head back into the couch, laughing softly to herself.
Already, she felt better. She was still tired, but the good kind now. The kind that settled in her chest instead of dragging her down. The kind that felt like being home.
And somehow, impossibly, Azzi had found a way to give her that from miles away.

Demon Boys' And Others With You
Featuring: Jinu Saja, Abs Saja, Mystery Saja, Romance Saja, Baby Saja Reader: Gender neutral

Jinu Saja
🐦⬛ So. Let’s get one thing straight. Jinu was not the jealous type. Why bother? I mean really! He’s a demon for crying out loud! He can shift into the most handsome being, conjure up anything he wants with a snap of his fingers if he so much as wished to. He had no reason to be jealous of others - if anything, others should be jealous of him.
🐦⬛ So why is it that when you tell him you’ll have to cancel your date because of this “other person”, he feels like… he doesn’t have everything? His silence must have been confirmation for you. Or maybe it was the call from that other person in the background that made you hang up with a quick, “Love you!”
🐦⬛ Jinu doesn’t know - nor does he care as much as he cares about the setup in front of him. It took effort to kick the other guys out and get the living room to look the way it did now: pillows spread on the floor, fluffy blankets tossed around, and a perfect mix of warm and cold snacks for your lazy night together. Some random movie was already playing quietly in the background.
🐦⬛ It took considerable self-restraint not to set the calling device - “phone,” as humans called it - on fire, or smash it to bits. Instead, he threw it onto the couch with a dramatic groan, scowling at the feeling curling tight in his chest. It felt far too familiar for his liking - a reminder of his pathetic past.
🐦⬛ Jinu brushed it off the first time. Whatever. Fine. You had a life outside of him. Who cares! Not him! ... The Tiger and the Magpie gave him unimpressed stares. Or at least, the bird did. Tiger - Jinu hoped - was trying to console him, especially when he slowly walked over… only to pass him without pause and disappear into Jinu’s room. “Ungrateful cat…” Jinu muttered.
🐦⬛ The second time? It wasn’t even supposed to be just the two of you. The guys were also there to hang out with the two of you. Jinu refused to acknowledge the tick in his brow when you told him over the “phone” that you’d unexpectedly had to meet up with someone else.
🐦⬛ Jinu also pointedly ignored the sidelong glances the others were giving him. Baby looked utterly disinterested in this matter, while the rest tried to hype him up in their own... unique and completely unnecessary ways- Jinu takes it back. Baby wasn’t the asshole this time. Safe to say, when it kept happening, Jinu was starting to seriously consider binding you to him with a demonic contract.
Jinu would’ve congratulated you - for managing to make him think about anything other than his mission or his desire to reclaim his soul. But you weren’t here. Again. It wasn’t like you two didn’t hang out at all anymore... but it was less than what Jinu was used to. With a heavy sigh, Jinu closed his eyes, pressing his forearm against them as he lay sprawled in bed. Who knew what hour it was? Judging from the low hum of the honmoon barrier mingling with the underlying energy of the others, it wasn’t late enough for them to rest. Not that they needed to - but it helped pass the time when there was nothing else to do. Like right now. Right now, when Jinu could - should - be focusing on the reason he was even in the human world to begin with. But he couldn’t. Because every time he tried, his mind circled back to you. To the thought that maybe you’d figured out who - what - he was. That maybe he didn’t have whatever it was you were looking for... and you were seeking it in someone else. “Ridiculous...” he muttered. Unsure if it was aimed at himself or the situation. His thoughts betrayed him, replaying moment after moment with you. His hand reached automatically for Tiger, who had curled up on his stomach and was now purring softly. Comforting. He thought of your first meeting. The first time you went out to dinner and actually made him laugh - really laugh, not the practised kind he’d perfected over centuries. The way you smiled when you were just being you, and how that let him ease into showing bits of himself - shifting between disguise and truth. He remembered introducing you to the others. The way you slowly, but surely easier into his life more. You even hung out with th—
Jinu's eyes snapped open. He shot upright so suddenly that Tiger had to duck off the bed to avoid being smacked in the face. Jinu sat there, eyes blown wide, as a memory slammed into him like a newly turned demon. He hadn’t corrected either of them. You hadn’t been with them at the time - but knowing those idiots? There was no telling when they might’ve run into you without mentioning it and just blurring the same words in front of you. Teasingly or not, Jinu could easily imagine you not taking it well. Could it be…? His eyes narrowed, glowing gold for a brief second before flicking back to black as his ears strained, hearing the phone on his nightstand vibrate seconds before ringing. He glanced at the screen - then instantly answered it, pressing the phone to his ear. Your voice, as beautiful and soothing as always, spilled into the quiet and Jinu felt tension he didn’t even know he was holding unravel inside him. “Jinu~ Why aren’t you sleeping?” He pulled one knee up to rest his elbow on it, a soft smile tugging at his lips as he answered just as gently, “Who says you didn’t wake me up, hmm?” It seemed it was late for a human then. Hearing you laugh and shifting around in the background, Jinu zeroed his attention on you. “Because when you sleep, you sleep, hahaha!” Not true, Jinu thought - but didn’t say. He was wide awake plenty of times. But if pretending to be asleep meant you’d play with his hair longer, he’d do it every time. There was a pause. He could only hear your breathing. And usually, that was enough. It brought him peace. But even across the distance, he could feel your hesitance. A subtle uncertainty within your honmoon signature that made something twist in his chest.
Why are you hesitating… with me?
He pressed the phone tighter to his ear, fingers twitching with the urge to reach for your wavelength through the barrier as the hollowness in his chest thrummed with quiet ache. Before he met you, the void was easier to ignore - insatiable, familiar. But now… even if it wasn’t full, you brought warmth. A soft light that flickered in the emptiness where a soul should have been.
He didn’t want to go back to that empty place. He didn’t want to go back to before you. “Jinu?” you finally said his name, and the hesitation in it made him tense again. He wanted to ask, What is it? He wanted to ask, Are you going to end this? But his thoughts spiralled too fast to settle on just one question. Which was ridiculous. He had nothing to lose and nothing to give you. This whole... arrangement wasn't even there to last... That should’ve made it easier. Should’ve. But did not. Jinu let out a deep breath, realising you wouldn’t continue unless he showed he was listening. Shifting, he lay back on the pillow, gripping the phone tightly. “Yeah?” he finally breathed, ignoring Tiger’s piercing gaze and Magpie’s scrutinising stare from across the room. He expected a lot. Maybe an awkward apology - not that you needed to apologise. He’d never outright said anything was wrong. Maybe you’d tell him you weren’t comfortable anymore. Maybe— That’s why, when your next words came, his eyes widened, and he blurted the first thing that came to mind. “Is something wrong?” you asked, unsure and worried. “No—No. Pffft. Nooo—why would you think that?” he said, way too quickly. Even a blind human would’ve known something was off. Another pause. Then a sigh. “Jinu…” you said his name with a tired, warning tone. He grinned shakily, even though you couldn’t see it. “Yeeees?” he drawled, teasing - but you huffed. He could almost see your expression: the smile tugging at your lips, the brow you always raised when he was clearly bullshitting. Then there was silence again. This time, Jinu broke it. With a heavy sigh, his shoulders sagged. Under Tiger’s drilling gaze, Magpie’s quiet judgement, and your pressing silence he finally admitted what had been weighing him down. “You never—” No, that wasn’t right. He inhaled and tried again. “We don’t spend as much time as we used to and I - I can’t help but wonder if… the person you always seem to prefer has something I… don’t.” He couldn’t hide the flush in his cheeks. Embarrassed. But it was either say it or let it rot the short-lived connection that brought him comfort. Thankfully, you didn’t let him stew for long. “Baboya~” you said fondly, and Jinu could hear your smile. “These people are just part of the project I was assigned to.” Jinu blinked. Speechless. “…Project?” he echoed. Barely registering this "person" were "people". You laughed gently. “Yes! Hahaha! I really do apologise. Looks like I forgot to tell you… It’s just hard to focus on all my responsibilities when I’m with you, Jinu. I promise! This time, I won’t bail on you, ’kay?” He felt his face soften into a grin. Something in his chest buzzed - there may be no heart in his core, but he could still feel the growing warmth. He bent forward, clutching his shirt with his free hand, grinning like an idiot. “You better… You don’t want me to steal you right in front of them, do you?” You laughed, probably thinking he was joking. But Jinu wasn’t. Not even a little. Your words reassured him that he was enough - but after everything he’d experienced, he wasn’t going to let anyone take your time meant for him. He wasn’t that reasonable of a “man.”

Abs Saja
💪 Abby had no issue with you hanging out with others. He trusted that you had eyes and knew he was a catch - and that you’d tell him if something wasn’t right, just like he bluntly did to you.
💪 Family hangouts? Easy. Abby had no problem showing up and showing off to your relatives even when he was not invited. Friends? Peers? All of that was just background noise - opportunities, really - for him to flex as your partner while the cute little rats around the two of you squealed his praises. It was a win-win.
💪 His eagerness and chill attitude about you being around others, however, was not a green light for you to pull a: “Me and the others are having a slumber party!” - followed by a kiss on the cheek and a swift sprint out of the apartment he shared with the guys.
💪 Abby respected your clever escape, because he knew if you didn’t plan it like a prison break, he would’ve already had you trapped in his arms, hoisted over his shoulder, and dragged off to his room for his required daily dose of nightly cuddles - unbothered by your flailing attempts to escape.
💪 Abby was a demon who couldn't hide his reactions. So when the door shut behind you, his brain was still buffering - trying to piece together what the hell just happened - before his lips pulled into a dramatic pout. He turned to his brothers lounging in the living room and pointed at the door with his thumb in a wordless: Can you believe that?!
💪 Jinu and Romance exchanged a glance while Mystery just shook his head - less in understanding and more in quiet pity. Baby released his lollipop with a loud pop as he looked him over with drooped eyes. Pathetic.” Then he put his lollipop back and went right back to scribbling in a notebook, no doubt perfecting Jinu’s lyrics again.
It was safe to say Abby didn’t require rest. He didn’t have a heart like humans, meaning he didn’t need rest to produce whatever the blood was formed from for it to function. For demons, sleep was more of a pastime - something to do when there was nothing else going on. But for Abby? There was always something going on. He wasn’t the structured type - he always went with whatever caught his attention or he thought was a great idea to do. However, ever since you entered his life, Abby had developed one routine. You, in his bed, sleeping next to him every night. No exceptions. Until today. Because today, you decided a bunch of squealing meat sticks were more important than him and your shared cuddles. And for what, exactly? A slumber party? What the fuck even was that? Well, he knew now - thanks to Mystery, who had flipped through one of his human books and casually explained that slumber parties were events where humans “bonded” by staying up late, talking… and summoning demons. Which - hello? You already had a demon. Him. Or were you trying to tell him he was supposed to go to that party and fight off some pathetic, low-ranking worm of a demon to prove himself to you? That theory was quickly shut down by Juni, who waved his arms frantically and made a big “X” with his hands. “No, no,” Juni said, exasperated. “It’s not that kind of slumber party.” Yes, it was about bonding and talking, he explained - but mostly it was eating snacks, playing games, and then cuddling together before falling asleep. Abby did not like that. Were you saying he wasn’t good enough to cuddle? Not warm enough? Not sturdy enough? He could change forms if you needed him to! All you had to do was say the word - he could be anything for you. All he needed to do was tell you that he was a demon who could- Abby let out a frustrated growl into his pillow, which was currently trapped in a suffocating death grip. The others - excluding Romance, who had flashed him an enthusiastic thumbs-up - had shot him sharp, warning glares the moment he suggested it. Their not-so-subtle way of saying: fucking try it.
He huffed, burying his chin into the pillow that still smelled like both of you. His bored eyes drifted toward the glittering honmoon barrier, pulsing in slow, even waves on the bed. He hated how badly he wanted to devour you - to keep you with him at all times. The craving swelled in his chest as he hugged the pillow tighter. A glimmer of your energy flickered inside the honmoon. Abby’s eyes sharpened. Without realising it, he reached out - his clawed finger sinking into the mattress just inches from the glowing thread of your wavelength. That glimmering crimson pulsed over the faint blue. He grinned. Leaning forward, he easily cast your line into his shadow, the dying blue and vibrant red of your link illuminating his face. His sharper teeth gleamed. Abby growled in approval, "My small, precious human..." he murmured, nuzzling his nose into the line, pressing his cheek against it as your wavelength trembled. Seconds later, the device Juni called a “phone” began ringing on his nightstand. Lazily rising, Abby leaned over, using one hand to balance himself while the other reached for the phone. The moment he saw your name on the screen, his grin deepened. Satisfaction pulsed through him as he accepted the call. He purposely lowered his voice, making it gravelly - like he’d just woken up. “What’s up...” “Abby?” Your voice was soft, startled, like you were rudely awakened by something. He hummed deeply in response, shifting on the bed so his feet touched the floor. He could hear you moving around in the background too, still disoriented. “Ah—sorry. I didn’t mean to wake you…” “No, no,” he replied gently. “You called. Did something happen?” He added a slight rasp, pretending to wake himself up for you. You yawned, which made him chuckle as he stood and stretched his shoulders, muscles flexing. “No, nothing really. Just… do you think I—” He cut you off smoothly, already halfway to his closet. “Want me to come get you, sweet thing?” There was a pause on your end as he pulled on a random shirt. As soon as he put the phone back to his ear, your answer poured out, soft and almost drowsy. “…Please.” That one word was all he needed. Abby's grin stretched wider. Your voice sounded fuzzy, affected by the pull of the honmoon - probably a side effect of him tampering with it earlier. Nothing dangerous. Just made it a little easier for him. Especially if your wavelength was already weakened by their influence on you.

Mystery Saja
🐶 Mystery was the only one among the others who was genuinely curious about the human world - in the way a scientist might be fascinated by their test subjects. A curiosity that wasn’t driven by affection or sentimentality, but by the cold, sharp edge of analysis.
🐶 That same curiosity had granted him rare insight into human behaviour. And comparing it to the era he hailed from? Mystery often wondered if he’d been born on an entirely different planet.
🐶 One of the more puzzling subjects he studied was the human desire to bond. Or more accurately - the innate need to form multiple, meaningful connections with others.
🐶 Okay… but so what? You already had Romance, with whom you could talk endlessly about new trends. Abby, who behaved like an oversized golden retriever, constantly dragging you around the city and showing you places even you - a human who lived around here - didn’t know existed. You had Juni, who could pass as the most "normal" out of all of them and offered you the kind of grounded interaction humans seemed to crave. And Baby, who teased you endlessly until you smacked him with a pillow and he cackled like it was his reward.
🐶 You even had a good rapport with Tiger and Magpie, who you adored taking on nightly walks on which Mystery tended to tag along.
🐶 And he had given you everything a human partner could possibly want. Warm meals, stimulating conversation, the kind of scorching pleasure that left you trembling - your pleas for more eventually turning into breathless gasps begging him to slow down before you could faint.
🐶 So please. Enlighten him again how meeting these random strays was more important than spending time with him, while he read, and you used him like your personal massage therapist for your feet.
“There are not strays, 'Tery,” you sighed, arms crossed, standing your ground before him. He stood perfectly still, blocking the front door of the apartment he shared with the others. “They’re my cousins.” Mystery blinked once - not that you could see it with his fringe in the way - so he tilted his head slightly instead, the silver earrings on his left ear swaying. “What’s the difference?” You let out a short snort, stepping forward to playfully shove his chest. But Mystery remained unmoved. He couldn’t comprehend how being blood-related made a difference. Related or not, they were still doing the same thing. Taking you away from him. Having to realise that was not a joke, you straightened your posture, running a hand through your hair and said, “Mystery—” Oh no. You said his full name. It wasn't even the real one. It was the name Juni had given him. And yet, somewhere along the way, it had rooted itself into his core so deeply that hearing it from your lips had a startling effect.
Your closeness was even worse. The way you stood there, just a breath away. The possibility of closing that distance— It made shivers spread under his skin. The corners of his mouth twitched, ears straining to catch each syllable that left your lips. “I’ll be back by 5:20,” you said, voice calm, trying to sound reasonable. “Maybe earlier. I don’t know how long they’ll keep me.” You really were sounding logical. But not to him. Mystery didn’t move. A thick silence settled between you as you stared him down, and he stared back through the veil of hair over his eyes. He relished the way your gaze roamed over him, your brows furrowed with concern. Without saying a word, Mystery reached up and gently smoothed the crease between them with his thumb. Your shoulders dropped. You exhaled. “Fiiine,” you groaned, giving him a look. “You can come with.” Good human, he thought, stepping aside and offering his arm. You looped yours through it without protest, and together you left for the café where your strays - your cousins - were waiting. At the café, Mystery immediately picked up on the subtle awkwardness between the strangers and himself. The two you’d introduced as your cousins kept glancing between him and the curious patrons nearby, who were clearly trying to place his face. Hmm. Maybe this wasn’t about you wanting to get away from him. Maybe you were trying to avoid drawing attention? Not that he cared. He adjusted the cap you'd jammed onto his head before leaving the apartment and relaxed into the chair. Now he could casually tell the others that he’d simply taken the opportunity to do “fan outreach.” Humans adored that kind of thing, didn’t they? Idols doing normal things. Going out for disgusting oil-water - what was it called again? Coffee. Romance had explained it to him once with a flair. Something about chic trend and university aesthetic... Whatever.
Mystery barely stifled a sigh when your male cousin awkwardly introduced himself, followed by your female cousin. After that, the conversation mostly flowed between you and them. Meanwhile, Mystery was simply trying not to spit out the moldy tar water in front of him and onto your cousin’s face. You said it wouldn’t take long - and thankfully, it didn’t. The two cousins had places to be. Finally outside in the fresh air, Mystery nodded at the male who returned it, a polite bow exchange with the female - and then they hugged you one by one, flashing bright smiles as they said goodbye and left behind their stench on your clothes. Mystery watched with idle disinterest… until you turned toward him with a bright smile and started walking. Without missing a beat, he fell into step beside you, his movements effortless. A faint smile tugged at his lips as he slid his arm around your waist, drawing you closer with practiced ease. “'Tery,” you hissed, startled, your head twisting as if to check whether your cousins were still nearby. “What if they—?” Before you could finish, his hand slid up from your waist to your back and finally settled on the back of your neck. He gently tilted your head forward, voice soft and steady, “No worries. They’re already gone.” You checked him for reassurance, and upon seeing his relaxed smile, you finally eased up, trusting him entirely. As you leaned into his side, Mystery kept his hand on the back of your neck - his fingers slowly kneading the base. Casually, he lifted his other hand to fix his hair, as he hooked few fingers under the strands of his fringe, letting them part as he subtly turned his head to the side, revealing one of his eyes. Sky blue, rimmed with glowing gold - until, in a blink, the gold swallowed the colour whole. His pupil narrowed into a sharp horizontal slit as his gaze locked onto your cousins. They were now frozen in place, lingering by the café entrance. He let them see it. The flash of inhuman sharpness in his smile. The knowing glint. He let it linger just long enough for their wavelengths in the honmoon to spike in alarm before he blinked, his eyes returning to their human form as he turned, letting his fringe fall back into place, Without another glance back, he walked leisurely beside you, pleased with the phantom of their fear still dancing at the edge of his senses like static. Mystery drank it all. And oh, how sweet it was.

Romance Saja
🌹 Romance would proudly say it aloud: he didn’t understand the word jealousy.
🌹 He’d only first heard of it when he’d tagged along to the human world with the others. Baby had been grumbling about how absurdly jealous their fans could get, muttering it with a dramatic eye-roll. When Romance asked what the word meant, the younger demon had stared at him flatly, gave a shrug, and went back to chewing his gum. He waved him off lazily with, “Ask Fringy, I heard it from those shitty movies he watches. ” That word had piqued Romance’s interest. So, naturally, he went to Mystery as Baby had advised him.
🌹 Mystery didn’t bother answering directly. He simply set aside the book he’d been obsessing over, rising from the couch in one slow, fluid motion. Without a word, he drifted over to his beloved bookshelf - the one Romance secretly admired for its intricate, hand-carved detailing - and retrieved a hefty, leather-bound volume. Returning to him, Mystery opened it on some page, tapped a single word with one painted finger, and said coolly, “Read.”
🌹 Romance blinked at him, raised a brow at the demon's tone, then shrugged and did as told. A moment passed - and then he wheezed out a sudden burst of laughter, clutching his stomach as he tried not to choke on how own spit. Mystery, unfazed, simply straightened. With his usual calmness, he closed the book, returned it to its shelf, and without a single glance back, strolled wordlessly to his room, shutting the door with a soft but final click - leaving Romance in the midst of his hysterical laughter.
🌹 What a ridiculous term! Only self-pitying, bone-dry beings with not an ounce of self-respect could feel "angwy" over something they didn’t have and wished to possess. For what? To feel better?
🌹 Oh, honey~ If you feel miserable without it, you’ll still feel miserable even with it. To Romance, jealousy became just another made-up human excuse - an elegant little lie to mask their fear of revealing their true beauty. Easier to envy others than to honour one’s own shine he guessed.
🌹 He shook his head, the corners of his lips lifting into a pitying smile. Truly pitiful. And that’s exactly what made humans so very entertaining.
It was late into the night, and with nothing better to do - everything already set and ready - Abs had declared a Monopoly match. Now, they were all gathered around the coffee table in the living room. Juni was subtly stealing from the "bank," deep in debt to Abby, who was somehow winning - though even the big guy himself didn’t seem to realise it. Mystery’s section was the most organised; he had to keep pushing up his fringe, revealing glimpses of his sculpted face and paralysing eyes - eyes Romance often claimed were more brilliant than diamonds - as he squinted at the fine print on the cards, just in case. He didn’t seem to notice Baby quietly stealing from him… again. The youngest demon among them always somehow landing in jail. Romance hoped it wasn't some future sign. He, on the other hand, was also losing, apparently. But he didn’t care. He was far more invested in choosing the more aesthetically pleasing structures on the board that he could buy. They were waiting for Mystery to roll the dice when Romance’s ears twitched at the soft sound of his door opening. He looked up just as you stepped out, dressed in an eye-catching outfit - comfortably casual, yet still striking enough to turn heads and leave people wondering if you were even real. Pride swelled in Romance’s chest. The entire ensemble was one he’d picked out for you. With an approving nod, he turned back to the board. Mystery seemed to be deciding whether to use the card in his hand now or later, causing everyone except Romance to glare at him impatiently. Naturally, the demon was unbothered. Romance heard your footsteps approach and, knowing exactly why, he straightened. Tipping his head back, he smiled just as your gentle fingers lifted his chin and your lips brushed the corner of his mouth. Neither of you paid any mind to the eyes now locked on you - nor to Juni’s dramatic gagging, which earned him a shove from Abby - or the loud pop of gum before Baby scoffed, “Disgusting,” and turned back to the board. Romance wasn’t even sure Mystery could see - his fringe was so rich it was practically a curtain. Not that Romance cared; all his attention was on the angel standing above him.
You smiled softly down at him. “I’ll be out with some of my friends and their acquaintances. Should be back around eleven.” Romance hummed, flashing a dazzling smile. “Enjoy the night, darling. Don’t be cheap on yourself,” he said with a lilting, playful tone, then turned back to the game, perfectly content - though he noted your gaze lingered. When it didn’t shift, and neither did you, he eventually looked up. The other guys had stared at him too - besides Mystery who finally rolled the dice. Romance tilted his head at you, curious. “Yes, love? Something the matter? Do you want to borrow one of my pieces of jewellery, is that it?” he asked earnestly, clearly confused by your startled expression. There was a pause - just the two of you in your own pocket of silence - before you shook your head quickly and gave a hesitant smile. “N-No! No need. Thank you for the offer though,” you said, bowing gratefully before flashing him a radiant grin. “Enjoy your night!” Romance returned it with one of his own, lifting his hand to wave as he watched you leave. “You shall too, my lovely darling!”

Baby Saja
🍼 Baby never understood the whole concept of jealousy. He always squinted suspiciously whenever he saw one of those people inside the magic box Juni told them humans called the “TV.” A box Mystery had grown as attached to as he was to his stupid books.
🍼 With nothing else to do today, Baby had two equally terrible options: Be dragged to some human food chain by Romance and Abby like Juni had - relegated to “human translator” duty for demons - or sit in his room while Mystery sat through one of him movie marathons on that box, volume turned low... which, for Baby’s hearing, may as well have been blaring at full blast.
🍼 He had zero intention of venturing out alone. No need to provoke the huntresses any more than they already had. They knew what he and the others were, and Baby didn’t feel like fighting - not with his brain still aching from today’s string of stupid shows designed to entertain the masses like they were circus animals. Baby swore Gwi-Ma was punishing him twice for his human sins.
🍼 So, he ended up sitting on the floor with his back to the couch, arms loosely draped over his knees, while Mystery’s attention remained glued to the humans on-screen. The female protagonist had just spotted the male lead talking - laughing, even - with another woman after getting a message from the male that morning that he would be busy. The girl’s face twisted. She marched into the café, called him a player, and dumped his own drink over his head.
🍼 Baby narrowed his eyes, unimpressed, and bit into the lollipop in his mouth. “What the shit...” he muttered, gesturing vaguely at the screen. “Why not just talk to the guy instead of pulling a tantrum like a brat?”
🍼 He leaned back with a grimace. Even as a demon, he was rooting for the male lead to ditch her. “Man... just give up and take the other chick,” he muttered, rotating the lollipop stick slowly between his fingers. “Humans are fascinating...” Mystery said, voice flat and unreadable. Baby snorted, smirking. “Sure they are. Can’t even think rationally.”
🍼 The hair on the back of his neck suddenly stood up - his instincts prickling. He could feel Mystery’s gaze drilling into him. Unable to ignore it, Baby snapped his head around and glared up at his senior. “What?”. Mystery tilted his head slightly. “We were once humans, too.” Baby scoffed, turning back to the screen. “Yeah, and? Look where our rationality got us,” he muttered, biting down sarcastically on the word.
🍼 With nothing else to add, the two demons lapsed into companionable silence, watching as the male protagonist ran after the girl with the temper tantrum. Baby’s canines lengthened unconsciously, piercing through the candy in his mouth. Pathetic, he thought.
Baby didn’t even know how the fuck he got here. It started with Abby hyping up some “amazing BBQ chain” on the outskirts of the city - and ended with all five of them sitting in one of the private cars, courtesy of the industry that scouted them after that godawful “Soda Pop” song. Baby still shuddered at the memory. That song was a fucking curse. If any lesser demon so much as whispered it near him- He huffed and slouched deeper into his seat, pulling out the "phone". Your chat log stared back at him: a single cat sticker, a cheery “Good morning!” and a short I’ll be busy today. That same moment, Baby had immediately messaged back asking, Busy with what?, reacting to the sticker with a sun emoji. You hadn’t read it yet. “Tch.” Whatever. Baby brushed it off like he brushed off the growing void in his chest - and the saliva pooling in his mouth. The urge to devour your soul was stronger than usual. He figured even his demon body was getting impatient to blend with you already. Soon, he thought, lips quirking into a smile. That was enough to earn a suspicious glance from Abby, who immediately commented that he looked “creepy.” So Baby chucked his phone at his face. It nearly escalated into a full-blown brawl, if not for Mystery and Juni unleashing just enough demonic aura to force the two of them to sit back down. Baby hated that he couldn’t fight back properly without risking his head getting sliced off. His body would regenerate - eventually -but sitting around bodyless for hours was a major buzzkill. Now, they were trailing behind Mystery, who’d been told to “smell out” the BBQ spot since none of them knew how to use phones beyond the bare minimum. And even that had taken months of trial and error. Romance was banned from dialling the emergency number after he’d used it for every minor inconvenience, so they wouldn't get locked up even before the mission could start. So as they followed the demon bloodhound through the streets, Baby came to a sudden stop. His droopy eyes, widened. He felt it - a faint tremble in the air. Your wavelength. His skin buzzed. Instinctively, his hand reached out to grasp it, only to recoil with a snarl as the huntresses' protection burned his palm.
Fucking nuisance. The fact that you were still untouched by demonic influence - still holding strong even after getting closer to him - set Baby’s teeth on edge. It made him boil. He wanted nothing more than to go head-to-head with those three bitches and rip apart whatever invisible leash was tied around you. All so he could feel your line clinging to him without restraint. While the others continued walking, Baby peeled away from the group, scanning his surroundings. The honeymoon wave meant you were either nearby or you lived on this specific street. And no - he was pretty sure you didn’t live out here. He followed the trace across the road, dodging pedestrians, until he came to a halt. There you were. Sitting inside a café. Laughing. With some rando. You were perched on a bar stool beside them, hands cradling a cup as you spoke, giggled, playfully nudged the other - and received a shove back followed by more laughter. Baby’s lip curled, a low growl escaping him. His eyes narrowed. Is this what that female protagonist felt? Fuck no. He didn’t have pathetic self-pitying thoughts. He was untouchable. He didn’t need validation. He knew he was great. No, what Baby felt wasn’t that flimsy human brand of jealousy. This was something far more primal. An urge. To walk straight through the café doors, wedge himself between you and that leech, threaten them without saying a word, and drag you out of there. Just because your time - your presence - belonged to him. Relaxing into the sensation, Baby smirked to himself. Adjusting the bucket hat shielding some of his features from rabid fans, he casually strolled toward the café. The cashier greeted him. He ignored it. Each step he took was precise. Measured. Confident in a predatory grace wrapped in an attractive human shell. His boots clacked sharply against the wood flooring, but you didn’t hear him. The ambient café noise covered his approach, and your back was turned - attention fully on the leech across from you. The leech, however, did see him. And instead of meeting ordinary human eyes like they had to expect, they met glowing gold, shadowed under the brim of his hat. Pupils slitted in sharp attention. Baby tilted his head, lips peeling into a smile far too wide, sharp canines flashing. The leech flinched hard, nearly falling off the stool. That finally got your attention. You whipped around with an adorable little glare, ready to scold whoever scared your friend- Only to find yourself face to face with Baby. Silver-blue eyes blinked innocently. Calm expression. Head tilted owlishly as if he were the one surprised to see you.

Pretty Annoying

Pairing: Azzi Fudd x Reader
Fandom: UConn Women’s Basketball
Summary: you and Azzi go live to review a PR package….

I should’ve known going live with Azzi while trying on a PR package full of outfits was a dangerous idea. Not because she was chaotic—she was honestly the calm one between us. But because she had a one-track mind when it came to me, and it was always stuck in the gutter.
Still, I had promised the brand I’d do a little live try-on and review, and I figured it’d be cute to have Azzi on with me. Give her some fashion commentary duties. She agreed too quickly.
Our shared apartment had great lighting in the living room, so I propped up my phone on the tripod, arranged the box of clothes beside me, and set a few pieces aside I already knew I wanted to model. Azzi sat cross-legged on the couch in a cropped UConn hoodie and shorts, hair in braids, looking effortlessly fine. She had her iPad ready for chat-monitoring, but I could already tell from her smirk that her attention span would be short-lived.
“Alright,” I said into the camera as people poured into the live, “we’re doing a little PR unboxing slash try-on haul. I roped Azzi into being my personal commentator.”
Azzi raised two fingers in a lazy peace sign. “Hi guys. I’ll be rating her outfits. Totally professionally.”
“She’s lying,” I muttered, pulling out the first piece. It was a silky, champagne-colored mini dress with spaghetti straps. I held it up for the camera. “This looks fire already.”
I ducked into the hallway to change and came back out, adjusting the hem slightly. “Okay, what are we thinking?”
Azzi looked up and went quiet for a beat too long.
I turned to the side, then looked back at her. “Hello? Judge Judy?”
Her eyes flicked up to my face, but she was clearly trying not to laugh. “Sorry, what was the question?”
“The dress, Azzi.”
“Oh. Yeah. It’s…fine.” Her voice cracked mid-word.
“You suck at this,” I snorted, spinning once for the camera, showing how the back dipped low. “She’s drooling, y’all.”
“She is,” someone typed in the chat, and I could see the username: azzisgfclub.
Azzi rolled her eyes and tried to look serious, tapping on the iPad. “Y’all need to behave.”
I went back to change and heard Azzi say into the mic, “She knows what she’s doing,” like I wasn’t in the next room grinning.
The next fit was a two-piece set—a fitted ribbed crop top and matching midi skirt in dusty blue. I walked back out, adjusting the top a little, then posed with one hand on my hip. “Better?”
Azzi looked me up and down and licked her lips before she caught herself. “Mhm.”
“That’s all I get? Mhm?” I asked, smirking at the camera.
“She’s not even looking at the clothes,” someone else commented. “Azzi is analyzing the body.”
Azzi scoffed but said nothing. I watched her trying to keep a straight face and failing.
I walked past her toward the phone to read more comments—and that’s when it happened.
Unintentionally, as I turned to adjust the camera angle, I bent slightly to fix the tripod leg and ended up sticking my butt right in Azzi’s face.
I didn’t even realize what I’d done until I heard the loud smack that echoed on the mic.
“AZZI. JAZLYN. FUDD!” I turned, eyes wide, half laughing, half scandalized.
She just shrugged, eyes twinkling. “It was right there.”
The comments exploded.
“SHE JUST SMACKED HER ASS???!!!”
“Azzi said idc if we’re live 😭😭”
“Y/n: models Azzi: loses religion”
“Nah she’s focused on everything BUT the outfits”
“Azzi is TOUCH STARVEDEEE”
“Y/n gon’ need a new PR package AND new cheeks 💀💀💀”
I covered my face, laughing so hard my stomach hurt. “Y’all are doing TOO much.”
Azzi, smug as ever, leaned into the mic. “They’re not wrong.”
I pointed a warning finger at her. “You’re supposed to be professional.”
“I was trying,” she said, tossing a pillow onto her lap like she needed a distraction. “But then your whole ass came flying into my face, and I made a reflex decision.”
I gave the camera a fake-annoyed look and said, “This is what I deal with. Every day.”
More laughs in the comments. I retreated to change into the last outfit, a sleek black jumpsuit with a deep V and fitted waist. When I stepped back out, I saw Azzi’s eyes immediately drop to my waist.
I was mid-spin when I caught her hand reaching out to tug on the tie at the back of the jumpsuit. “What are you doing?”
“Fixing it. Totally innocent.”
The chat wasn’t buying it either.
“Azzi’s like lemme just—adjust 😏”
“She is FOCUSED. Not on the jumpsuit tho.”
“Azzi you’re embarrassing yourself. (Keep going.)”
I laughed and turned toward her. “You know, you could at least try to look at the fabric, not my ass.”
Azzi tilted her head and said, deadpan, “It’s a really nice ass, though.”
I gasped in mock offense. “That’s not the point of the haul!”
“You’re distracting me on purpose.”
“You agreed to be my judge!”
“I thought I was judging you, not the clothes.”
I stared at her, grinning, as I read more of the comments aloud. “Azzi is drooling. Azzi’s girl looks too good. Azzi is focused on everything but the fashion. Damn, I feel so supported.”
Azzi side-eyed me. “You’re pretty annoying.”
I blinked, playing it up. “Oh my God… you think I’m pretty?”
She groaned, scrubbing her hands over her face. “And that’s the annoying part.”
The chat exploded again.
“AZZI STOPPP THAT WAS SO CUTE”
“PRETTY ANNOYING 😭😭😭”
“Just propose already omg”
“That was the most sapphic hate-to-love moment ever”
I dramatically clutched my chest. “You know what? I’m gonna start doing these hauls solo. Next time, I’ll call Paige.”
Azzi narrowed her eyes. “She wouldn’t survive.”
I laughed and walked back into frame, grabbing the next piece. “Okay, we’ve got a few accessories left. Can you focus now?”
Azzi looked me up and down again, then shrugged. “I’ll try. No promises.”
Halfway through showing off a bag, she reached up and brushed her hand down my arm like it was nothing.
I looked down. “Ma’am?”
“Just admiring the…uh…texture. Of your skin.”
“The texture?” I deadpanned.
Azzi just grinned, knowing she was caught.
I wrapped up the haul with a final wave to the camera. “Thank y’all for tuning in. This PR haul has turned into thirst hour for Azzi, but we love that for her.”
“Love is a strong word,” Azzi muttered.
I reached down and kissed her forehead. “She loves it here.”
The comments cheered and flooded the screen with hearts and “SHIPPP” and “AZZI IS WHIPPEDDDD.”
Before I ended the live, Azzi leaned into the camera, gave it a mischievous look, and said, “Thanks for watching. She’s mine, by the way.”
I raised an eyebrow at her. “Possessive much?”
“Pretty annoying, remember?”
And she winked.

a taste of us - patri guijarro
word count - 5.8k | summary - after bumping into her on the streets of london you assume you'll never see her again, little do you know she's one of your closest friends teammates.
-
“fuck fuck fuck, i can’t be late, not today.” you muttered to yourself, running around your apartment as you tried to quickly gather everything you needed to see one of your closest friends for the first time in months.
you often lost track of time even when the world kept spinning. so occasionally when you had to leave your cosy apartment, you’d be rushing until the very last minute, no matter how much time you tried to give yourself. today’s reason being your mum who refused to cut your facetime call short even when you told her you needed to go, several times.
you picked up your phone quickly, your fingers typing away as you formed a message for ellie.
you - gonna be 5 minutes late! i’m so sorry, blame my mum xx
ellie 🩵 - she loves a good talk, it’s okay, i’ve ordered your drink x
you and ellie had been friends since her grassroots days. the two of you grew up playing for your local team on fields that were pure mud with a single patch of grass. whilst ellie excelled in football, to the point where she had won the golden glove at 20, you left your footballing days behind early on with the dreaded injury and no recovery plan. yet your friendship never wavered, even with the endless england tournaments that sent her everywhere, you’d still be sat on facetime whilst she did her recovery every night.
locking the door behind you, you rushed out the flat, your bag slung over your shoulder as you held a small gift bag containing a small present you had seen that immediately reminded you of ellie.
you weren’t even looking where you were going, your feet were moving without much effort as you stared down at your phone, trying to message ellie that you wouldn’t be long.
it wasn’t until you turned a corner that you realised staring down at your phone as you walked wasn’t a great idea.
you stumbled, your body meeting someone else’s as your bag slipped off your arm and the small gift bag topped onto the pavement.
“i’m so so sorry.” you practically shouted, being caught so off guard but the sudden force that you weren’t even sure where to look, your things sprawled across the london pavement as you internally scolded yourself for not looking where you were going.
it wasn’t until you looked up at the obstacle that you saw her.
she was taller than you, not by much but a good few centimeters that put her at an advantage. sunkissed skin that gave you the impression that she certainly wasn’t from around here, probably from somewhere with a beach. soft straight brown hair that was pulled back into a ponytail, that allowed all her features to stand clear. her jaw was sharp, you could’ve swore it would’ve cut you if you touched it. her brown eyes reflected the spring sun so much that they looked like a bar of melted chocolate.
she was breathtaking.
“lo siento, es mi culpa.” she shook her head profusely, reaching down as she gathered the few things of yours that fell on the floor, putting a few of the fallen objects back in their rightful bag before standing straight. (i’m sorry, it’s my fault.)
“estamos en inglaterra, habla inglés.” the girl next to her scolded, hitting her arm slightly. (we are in england, speak english.)
“sorry, she said she’s sorry, and that it was her fault.” the other girl spoke.
“it’s okay, uh i was looking at my phone, i should’ve been paying attention.” you smiled politely, yet your eyes were only focused on the girl in front of you. your hands outstretched as she handed you the two bags you had practically thrown on the floor.
“esta bien- it’s okay, i wasn’t looking either.” she smiled back, your hands brushing slightly as she handed you your things, her touch was electric.
“thank you, for uh, picking my things up.” your cheeks flushed a deep red as you swung your bag over your shoulder, partially from the embarrassment but also from the way she was looking at you.
“no problem,” she shrugged, “lo que sea por una chica guapa.” she added, her voice lower yet you could still make out every word. (anything for a pretty girl.)
you didn’t even ask her what it meant, your gcse spanish only helping you understand ‘pretty’ and ‘girl’. instead you stood there looking at each other, smiles etched onto both of your faces, whilst her friends stood beside you, their eyes switching between the two of you.
one of the girls coughed quietly, snapping the both of you out of the gaze you had fallen in. you looked between the three of them, only just noticing the matching tracksuit they were all wearing, you couldn’t put much thought into it before you looked down at the watch on your wrist, your eyes widening automatically, you were really fucking late.
“i’m so sorry. i’m meeting a friend, i need to go,” you looked up at her, “thank you, again. have a good day.” you had to fight yourself to tear your eyes off her, to turn around and keep walking, to not run back and ask for her number, yet you knew ellie was waiting for you in a cafe just round the corner.
“vale, have a good day, guapa.” she nodded, a small playful smirk across her face. (okay… pretty.)
you hesitantly turned around, continuing your rushed walk as you saw the sign for the coffee shop in the distance. your head turning back briefly for a moment as you caught one last look at her, before stepping through the door and away from her entirely.
the café was tucked into a quiet corner just off the high street, steam fogging up the windows and the smell of fresh espresso drifting into the street. you spotted ellie through the glass before you even opened the door, slouched in a booth, cappuccino in hand and a hot chocolate ready for you across from her.
“i was starting to think you’d stood me up,” she said as you slid into the seat opposite her.
“i told you it was my mum’s fault,” you huffed, pulling your coat off and setting the gift bag on the table between you.
ellie’s grin widened, “classic, you know she once kept me on the phone for twenty minutes asking if i drink oat milk now, and then asked me to explain how oat milk is made.”
you both laughed, and for a moment, it felt like no time had passed between you. the comfort was instant, the kind that never really fades, that was the beauty of your friendship with ellie.
but then your eyes dropped to ellie’s outfit, a tracksuit with a barça crest stitched on the chest. the same tracksuit your collison victim was wearing. your brows shot up.
“is that what players wear?” you asked slowly, the look on your face curious.
“uh, this?” she pointed to her tracksuit, her eyebrows furrowed as you nodded, “yeah it’s only for the players, we tend to wear it before matches on away days.”
your eyes widened, cheeks flushed with embarrassment as you leaned back in your seat, covering your face with your hands, “oh for fucks sake ellie,” you muttered, shaking your head slowly, “i think i might’ve just bumped into one of your teammates, and sent all my stuff flying.”
ellie practically snorted, her laughter so loud that you knew everyone was looking, “you’re lying.” she managed to choke out.
“no ellie, i literally physically collided with her.” slowly dropping your hands, “like i walked straight into her with no care in the world.”
“that’s hilarious, what did she look like?” ellie asked, her chin now resting on her hand as she wiggled her eyebrows.
you gave her a look, lips twitching like you were already regretting telling her. “brown hair. pretty like, stupidly pretty. tallish. had an insane jawline, and she wore the tracksuit better than any human should be allowed to.”
she giggled slightly, reaching for her phone as she tapped through her pictures before turning her phone to show you. “this one?” she asked, a picture of the girl clear as day, your eyes practically lighting up.
“yes! it was definitely her.” you nodded, your mind replaying the spanish the player had previously used, still trying to piece together her words.
ellie sat back, lips curling into a grin, “patri.”
you blinked, “that’s her name?”
“yep. patri guijarro, one of the best midfielders in the world.” she nodded.
you groaned, leaning back in your seat, hoping it would swallow you whole. “she probably thinks i’m a complete idiot.”
“she helped you pick your stuff up, didn’t she?”
“yeah, but she said something in spanish right after. something i didn’t fully catch, except guapa and chica, but you know i was never good at spanish.” you shrugged.
ellie froze for a second, as if she was trying to translate in her head, then gave a soft smile and nodded, “she said guapa?”
you squinted at her, “what?”
“nothing. just patri doesn’t usually say stuff like that to random girls on the street.”
you furrowed your brow, “what do you mean?”
“she’s not the type to be calling strangers pretty unless you’ve really caught her attention.” ellie said, almost casually, but with a glint in her eye.
you blinked, “oh.”
ellie tried not to smirk. “i’m just saying. it’s a beautiful coincidence.”
you shook your head firmly, “she said it under her breath, though. like maybe i wasn’t meant to hear it.”
ellie shrugged. “maybe, but now you’re here, talking about her five minutes later.”
“i’m not-”
“you are.”
you rolled your eyes, sipping your hot chocolate,“it’s not a thing.”
“no, of course not,” ellie shook her head, fighting a grin. “she just happened to knock the air out of your lungs and call you beautiful, but i will be telling her at training, but she is single by the way.”
your jaw practically dropped as she simply laughed, “i swear to god ellie.”
you and ellie sat there for a good while, she opened the small gift you bought her, a plant pot that was covered in beautiful shades of blue, the same blue the two of you would wear in your grassroots football days.
most of the time you were catching up on everything you had missed in the last few months, which was really just ellie saying how sunny barcelona was and how fun it would be if you visited. the two of you had been attempting to plan a weekend trip since she first made the move, yet every time you two got close to picking a date, something always popped up.
“you know, if i had to introduce you to anyone i played with, it would definitely be patri.” ellie said casually, sipping the remnants of her cappuccino.
your eyebrows furrowed, “don’t you play with two of the best players in the world, two balon d’or winners, fifa best winners?” you questioned.
“well obviously, but i mean as like someone who i think you’d get along with. i think she’d be good for you.” she shrugged as if it was the most simple sentence in the world, as if she wasn’t trying to play matchmaker with someone you had bumped into for 10 seconds.
“i think you might be jumping ahead of yourself, just a little.” you shook your head with a small laugh.
ellie had been playing wing women since you first came out to her at 13. when she signed for city she was practically begging you to go out on dates with her teammates, some which were definitely better than others. it took years for her to learn you had a type, which halted the suggestions ever so slightly, but when she found another footballer that fit your description, the matchmaking would start again.
“maybe i am, or maybe she saw a picture of you on my instagram and has been asking when she gets to meet you,” she smiled softly, far too casually, “either way, you’ll see her at the match today.”
“so this was never about me coming to see you, this was you setting me up all along?” you questioned, raising your eyebrow.
“seeing me was the main focus, this is just a little bonus on the side.” she grinned at you, as innocent as anything, which did have you laughing slightly.
when you and ellie finished up, you made your way to your apartment, you had a few hours to wait until you were due to watch ellie play, so you were mostly keeping yourself busy. yet you found yourself on ellies instagram, finding a picture patri was tagged in, your fingers instinctively clicking her account as you scrolled through it.
her profile was clean, lowkey. mostly matchday shots, some group photos with teammates, the occasional artsy coffee or beach post that made her seem so effortlessly cool. it wasn’t even like she was trying to be that captivating, it seemed to come naturally to her.
you scrolled a little further, then stopped.
there was a photo of her mid-conversation with someone, sitting in a restaurant with some kind of abstract art behind her, yet you could only focus on the smile across her face.
then you scrolled a little more. a picture of her on international duty, her anthem jacket cleanly pressed, her hair slicked back into a smooth ponytail and an impressively serious look plastered across her face. your breath hitched slightly. god she was something else.
you couldn’t lie, your stomach did that annoying little flip, one that made you shake your head dramatically. you shut off your phone with a sigh.
“this is absurd,” you muttered to yourself, standing up and pacing toward the kitchen for a glass of water like that would somehow reset your brain, “we collided for thirty seconds, i dropped my bag, this cannot be some cheesy romance movie.”
and yet, you’d somehow managed to find her account and now you couldn’t not think about how her smile could light up a room, or how that serious look on her face could easily make your heart skip a beat.
when you got to stamford bridge the atmosphere was incredible. it was a champions league semi-final, a match up that seemed to repeat itself every year. chelsea were already 4-1 down on aggregate, so needed a big effort to get themselves back in the game. however, the barca crest that sat on your chest, from the t-shirt kindly gifted by ellie, meant you were going into this game with a lot of hope.
you had those special family and friends tickets, the ones that required a lanyard and a security check like no other. you had made your way to your seats just before warm up had started. none of this was unusual for you, even when you stopped playing football, your love for it never stopped, and watching ellie play was the cherry on the top of the cake.
barca players started filtering their way onto the pitch. bouncing on their toes, doing side shuffles, passing short balls with that kind of perfection that only comes from years of repetition.
then your eyes found her.
patri.
a slightly more stiff posture but the same no-nonsense focus. she glanced up towards the crowd, doing that quick scan players always do.
and then she saw you.
there was the smallest pause, like she was buffering slightly. then a smile tugged at the corner of her mouth, it was subtle, but it was definitely there. she didn’t wave or do anything dramatic. just met your eyes, her expression was soft and familiar, as if she was replaying the moment from this morning.
your cheeks instantly warmed, before you reached for your phone, typing a message to ellie quickly.
you - tell your teammate to stop staring, i’m fragile
a few seconds later, you spotted ellie jogging in, grinning when she caught sight of you. she lifted a hand in a small wave, then subtly pointed toward patri, who was a few paces behind her, jogging up the pitch.
patri didn’t look. she already knew where you were.
instead, ellie jogged past her and bumped her shoulder lightly, clearly teasing, patri just rolled her eyes, the faintest smile across her face, before casting another quick glance in your direction before the warm up really started.
watching the girl you grew up with playing at the highest level with one of the best teams in the world had a smile permanently fixed to your face. but every now and again your eyes couldn’t help but flicker to patri, even just from the warm up you could see the pure skill she possessed at her feet and the control she had over the ball.
the warm up passed by pretty quickly. your eyes never failing to leave the pitch, to the point where you could’ve sworn patri glanced up at you once than once. even a subtle point to one of her teammates that you were sure was pointed in your direction, a point that made your stomach drop and cheeks flush.
you watched as the team filtered back into the tunnel, using that as your sign to grab yourself a drink before the game really started.
it didn’t take long until your phone light up, ellie’s name flashing across the screen.
ellie 🩵- she said you started it first, but now there’s a few people wanting to meet you.
oh and i heard her telling one of the girls you had a pretty smile
she also said ‘i want to speak to her later’ so best be prepared x
this girl clearly had an effect on you when it came to making your body react, because as if it was clockwork your cheeks warmed up and your heart skipped a beat at the thought of her.
barcelona came out with fire from the first whistle, pressing high and moving the ball with fluidity. patri anchored the midfield with controlled passes through the chelsea lines like it was second nature.
by halftime, barça were up 3-0, three beautiful goals that perfectly defined barcelona’s champions league journey. chelsea pulled one back late in the second half, barely a minute after salma rocketed one into the back of the net. yet it wasn’t nearly enough. the game finished 4-1 to barcelona, not that there was ever a doubt in your mind.
you watched as the teams shook hands, sharing pleasantries, brief conversations and smiles shared proudly across the barcelona players knowing they had made it into the final of the champions league for another year.
it didn’t take long for ellie to beckon you down from the stands, carefully walking the few rows down to the barrier, being extra cautious to not trip in front of the whole team this time.
“glad you made it down the steps without falling over again.” she teased, nodding at your graceful descent down the steps.
“proud of me?” you smirked, leaning slightly forward over the railing.
“always,” she nodded firmly, “but i’m not the one who wanted to see you.” before you could ask, she nodded over her shoulder.
“hola,” she said smoothly, her voice deeper up close, “i’m glad ellie got you to come”
“of course,” you smiled, a little breathless under the sun, but mostly under her gaze, “would’ve been rude not to.”
“bueno,” she grinned, “because i would’ve come looking for you either way.”
you blinked, thrown slightly, but impressed at just how smooth she really was.
before you could reply, she stepped in close, closer than you'd expected, and wrapped her arms around you in a quick, warm hug. not overly long, but not shy either. the kind of hug that had your stomach doing backflips as her touch lingered on you, her hand resting on your lower back just slightly longer than it needed to.
as she pulled back, her eyes didn’t leave yours, “you smell better than i do right now,” she murmured with a slight grin.
you blinked, how did this woman continue to keep you on your toes, “i think you’ve earned it.”
“you didn’t play,” she teased, raising an eyebrow. “why do you look like you’ve just run a marathon?”
you let out a short breath of a laugh, embarrassed, “probably some nerves. it was a good game, but you kind of caught me off guard earlier.”
patri tilted her head, playful, a little teasing, “i thought i was the one who got tackled.”
“that’s not how i remember it,” you returned with a playful smile, your eyebrows raising slightly.
she grinned, tongue briefly passing over her bottom lip, before switching back to spanish, low and deliberate. “no pasa nada, i kind of liked it.” (it’s nothing.)
“you liked me crashing into you?” you sent her a confused look.
“i liked the part where you looked at me after i started speaking spanish to you,” she said, nodding slightly toward you, “like you kinda understand, but not really.”
“are you going to tell me what it meant then?”
“i guess i can, if you meet me for an ice cream after.” she shrugged, yet her eyes lit up with a slight hint of mischief.
you tried not to laugh, or blush but failed at both when your cheeks practically lit up and you couldn’t stop the nervous laugh that escaped your lips, “you don’t waste time, do you?”
“i don’t like wasting chances,” she said casually, eyes steady, her gaze fixed on you, “and I don’t want to leave london wishing i’d said more.”
“you’ve got a point,” you nodded slowly, as if you were thinking about her offer, as if the answer wasn’t already yes, “and it’s a nice day today, so we might as well take advantage of that.” adding a shrug onto the end of your sentence.
patri’s smirk softened, a grin appearing in place, “perfecto, give me your phone.”
without any hesitation you handed her your phone, the contacts app already open. you watched carefully as she typed away, before handing your phone back. a comfortable silence falling between the two of you, just easily smiling at each other.
from a few paces away, ellie gave the most dramatic, exaggerated gag you ever heard, “god, just kiss already or go get your ice cream.”
you both let out a small laugh, but as she turned back to walk through the tunnel she sent you one final smile. one that had you more than excited for your ice cream date later.
as soon as patri and ellie disappeared from your sight, you tapped on her contact. your fingers stilling for a moment, trying to think of the perfect message that would start a conversation, even if you were seeing her in a matter of hours.
you - you have to get a different flavour ice cream to me, just so i can try some of yours.
you didn’t pay much mind to your phone until it vibrated in your hand as you slowly made your way out of the stadium.
patri ⚽️- should i get used to you stealing my food?
you - depends if you want to keep me happy
patri ⚽️- good thing i’m incredibly generous… en muchos sentidos (in many ways)
meet me at my hotel in an hour, then you can have a taste 😏
you - you’re dangerous.. i’ll see you then x
you busied yourself for an hour, taking an incredibly slow walk around the area before finally reaching the hotel where the barcelona team had been stationed.
you always loved london in the spring. the leaves on the trees finally starting to turn green, the sky and air seemed lighter and it was as if everything wasn’t as stuffy as before. it was your favourite time of year. and nothing compared to being able to spend a beautiful spring day with a pretty footballer that nearly toppled you onto the pavement.
as you walked through the hotel doors, there she was. standing near the hotel café, changed into fresh clothes, hair still damp from a shower, scrolling her phone with the kind of casual posture that still felt intentional.
that’s when she looked up at you, her face lit up. it was subtle, yet undeniable, and your face automatically matched hers. with matching smiles on your face, patri pocketed her phone and took a step closer, eyes scanning your body.
“you came,” she said, her voice quieter now, reserved just for you.
you shrugged, teasing. “i was promised ice cream.”
patri rolled her eyes, matching your teasing energy, “and apparently you’re stealing mine too.”
“get used to it.” you nudged her arm playful, before the two of you headed out onto the streets of london.
she led you out into the soft, warm evening, the golden light clinging to the sky just a little longer than usual. the walk was easy, it didn’t feel rushed or as if you had a time restraint. just the two of you walking together, no pressure, just a few nerves. patri’s hand brushed yours now and then, not quite holding it, yet her presence never pulled away.
“i know a place that does really good ice cream, last time we were here we had ice cream from this place like 6 times.” patri stated confidently.
“you’re practically a local.” you agreed sarcastically, acting impressed with her words.
“dios mio, you’re just as bad as ellie.” she shook her head, pushing your shoulder lightly. (my god.)
it was only a few minutes before you reached the famous ice cream shop. it was small, but bright, and as soon as you walked through the door you could smell the mixture of flavours that were on display.
"can i get one scoop of chocolate and one scoop of strawberry in a cup, please?" you asked, grinning, no attempt to even try and hide your excitement. patri had talked up this ice cream shop the whole walk, and your expectations were now sky-high.
"seriously? you’re so boring," patri teased with a dramatic sigh, before turning to the person behind the counter. "can i have matcha and white chocolate, please?" she said with a smirk, tossing you a smug look over her shoulder.
once your ice creams were handed over, you both made your way to a small table by the window. the sunlight poured in gently, casting a warm glow across her face. you sat opposite her, knees brushing slightly under the small round table.
patri took one bite, humming in satisfaction. “see? i told you. best in the city.”
you tasted your own, then made an overly dramatic face. “wow this is life-changing.” you added an over the top satisfactory moan that had patri roll her eyes before sending you a glare, causing you to giggle.
“cállate, mine’s just better than yours,” she said with a smug shake of her head, the corners of her mouth lifting in challenge. (shut up.)
“matcha is a drink, not an ice cream flavour.” you insisted, taking another bite of your very safe, very delicious ice cream.
patri gasped, mock-offended. “but when you mix it with white chocolate, es delicioso.” she scooped up a swirl of both, then held the spoon out toward you. “just try it.”
you reached for the spoon, but she pulled it back with a quiet, teasing click of her tongue. “nope, open,” she said simply, her voice dipping slightly as she leaned in.
your eyes flicked to hers, heartbeat quickening, cheeks instantly blushing, but you obeyed, parting your lips slightly as the spoon neared. her other hand came up to rest lightly beneath your chin, thumb brushing against your jaw in soft, slow movements as she fed you the ice cream.
and to be fair, it was good. creamy and rich, surprisingly balanced. but your brain barely processed the flavour, not with her eyes locked on your mouth and definitely not with her hand still cradling your face long after the spoon had pulled away.
“bueno?” she murmured, her voice soft but undeniably amused. (good?)
you swallowed, nodding slowly, “mhm.” your breath was hitched in your throat, you knew an actual response wasn’t coming even if you tried.
a satisfied smile spread across her face, like she’d just won something. “por supuesto. i knew i was right,” she said, finally letting her fingers trail away from your skin. (of course.)
you glanced down at your own half-melted ice cream before looking back up at her, arching a brow. “so what else are you always right about?”
patri leaned back in her chair, spoon tapping lightly against the rim of her cup. “todo.” she grinned, like it was a fact carved in stone. “food, music, people…” (everything.)
“people?” you echoed, slightly amused.
she nodded, tilting her head slightly, eyes locked on yours, “i like to think i’m good at reading people.”
“oh?” you smiled slowly, unable to stop the warmth rising to your cheeks. “what can you tell about me then?”
her eyes flicked down to your lips again, just for a moment. “you’re someone i want to spend time with.” she said simply, her voice playful.
you laughed, shaking your head, pretending to focus on your ice cream again just to calm the growing flutter in your chest, “you really don’t hold back, do you?”
“not when i like someone,” she said, so casually it made you pause.
you met her gaze again. the look on her face made you curious, a look of mischief, yet there was a hint of something more, something that felt open.
“so what do you want to know?” you asked, nudging her foot lightly under the table. “since you’ve clearly decided i’m not a waste of time.”
the two of you sat there for a couple hours, ice cream long finished as you learnt about each other inside out. you brushed past the small talk questions, instead talking about your families, aspirations and favourite places in the world. it felt like you had covered years worth of knowledge right until the moment the cosy setting was about to close.
you walked out into the streets of london, the sun just about set as the street lights started to flicker on. your gaze fluttered towards patri, her hand brushing against yours lightly as you walked in time with each other, your conversation never missing a beat.
it didn’t take long for patri’s hand to hook onto yours. small and subtle. her pinky reaching out, and wrapping around yours, pulling you ever so slightly closer.
you kept walking like that for a while, eventually reaching the hotel she was staying at, a natural end to your date.
“me lo pasé muy bien, chica guapa.” patri smiled, her hand falling from yours as it moved to rest on your hip. (i had a really nice time, pretty girl)
“my spanish really isn’t that good patri.” you furrowed your eyebrows, trying to break down what she was saying but it was useless.
“i had a really good time, oh and i called you pretty again.” she smirked, her grip tightening slightly.
your whole body stuttered, your mind short circuiting completely as you tried to think of a response, “y-yeah i had a really good time too.” you nodded, still struggling to deal with her forwardness.
“you should come see me, in barcelona.” she stated, taking a step towards you, closing the space just slightly more.
“i would really like that, maybe we could go to another ice cream shop.” you teased, melting into her touch more and more as the seconds went on.
you stood there in silence for a moment, the confidence building as your hand moved to rest on her jaw. your sudden confidence shocking her slightly, yet she relaxed into your touch quickly.
“i really want to kiss you right now.” she muttered, her eyes trailing from your eyes to your lips for a few seconds before she looked back up.
“then kiss me.” you whispered, her hand pulling you closer as she began to lean in.
“PATRI, AQUÍ ESTÁS!” someone shouted, both of your heads turning as you were met with two people in matching barcelona attire. your hands dropped from each other and you both took a step back. (patri, there you are!)
“lo siento amor, i’m so so sorry.” patri mumbled, her cheeks visibly turning red with the embarrassment of her friends turning up at the very moment you were about to kiss her. (i’m sorry love)
“ellie no nos dijo donde estabas.” the other person said, as the two of them walked over. (ellie wouldn’t tell us where you were.)
“joder, ustedes dos tienen terrible mal momento.” patri sighed, rolling her eyes as she bought her hand up to her temple. (fuck, you two have terrible timing.)
suddenly you felt incredibly awkward, you felt incredibly out of place as the two girls' eyes focused on you as they got closer, “uh- i should go, i’ll text you.” you smiled briefly.
“no no stay, they don’t mean anything bad.” patri said, quickly turning to you, her hand reaching out to stop you in your track.
“it’s okay, it’s late,” you leaned forward, pressing a quick kiss to her cheek before stepping back, “goodnight patri.”
you started walking away, sending a small smile to the other two girls as you started your walk back to your apartment, alone.
you had done your best to ignore the few buzzes from your phone as you got ready for bed, needing some time to think through every thing that just happened, before settling on your sofa and finally picking up your phone.
patri ⚽️- i’m so sorry amor, i’m so so sorry. my friends are so bad at taking hints.
i really enjoyed myself with you, it was like you saw me for more than just football.
i want to take you on a proper date, not to replace today, but i want to make it better.
you looked at your phone for a few minutes as your mind replayed your ice cream date, how easy it was to be around her and the pure joy you felt from being close to her. it was a no brainer.
you - when do you travel home?
you knew it was in the morning, you knew there was absolutely no time for anything to happen before her flight or before you had work, yet it was like you had to see her say it for that to sink in.
patri ⚽️ - tomorrow morning.
but i meant what i said.
you - what was it?
patri ⚽️ - come to barcelona for a weekend, i want to show you everything.
you didn’t hesitate, you didn’t even pause for a second to breathe, your fingers simply typed out the word and pressed send.
you - okay.

Our Little Soda Pop: Chapter 3

Later on, the rest of that day went about as smoothly as it could go. During the recording, the boys did become a bit more touchy but Natasha simply chalked it up to nerves. She fought the urge to smirk everytime one of them tried to allude to something sexual. She was perfect at playing dumb. As if she couldn't smell their wanton arousal. She knew she triggered something and had perfect and total control. So much for their loyalty to Gwi-Ma.
She bet that if she asked them to, they would give up all alliance with the so-called king. Watching as the boys got through their last lines, Natasha had food brought in so they could eat something after singing for so long. Abby and Baby were the first to attack the food but after minor scolding, made sure to leave some for the other three. “You boys sounded great in there.” Natasha complimented as she fixed a plate for Mystery who practically became attached to her hip. “Thank you Ms. Natasha. We're one step closer to our goal in taking down the hunters.” Jinu replied after taking a few bites of his food.
“Jinu lean forward.” Natasha responded. As he did so, his eyes widened as Natasha took a napkin and wiped the corner of his mouth clean. “There we go. Oh? What's up Mystery?” Natasha asked, turning her attention back to the other idol. “Hey um miss manager? When do we get what Romance got this morning huh?” Abby asked, huffing a bit. “I think we all behaved ourselves today. Don't we deserve a little reward too? How come you touched him?” Baby added. “I don't have to explain myself to you and if you keep asking about it, you won't get it. Eat. You have a photoshoot later.” Natasha replied unbothered.
That evening as the boys wrapped up the last of their photos, Mystery watched as Natasha typed away on her phone with a serious expression. She was talking to someone about something important for them. He loved that about her. She was always working. She always looked so busy. Like she completely had her shit together. He adored that about her. However, he also wished she would take a break every now and then.
“Alright boys. Time to go! Max, I expect those photos by Friday!” Natasha spoke while ushering the band out the doors and into their van. “I call shotgun!” Abby shouted as he practically launched himself into the passenger seat. “You had it on the way over here Abs, let someone else get the seat.” “Ugh fine!” He huffed as he moved to the back and Jinu climbed in the front. The drive home was silent save for the silent music playing in the background.
After arriving home, while everyone scrambled to get in Natasha's bed, still, she asked to speak to Abby alone in the living room. “I know you didn't want to give up your seat but you still did because I asked. I like when you boys listen to me.” She smiled as she led him to the couch and sat him down. “It makes me happy knowing that you respect me that much.” She whispered before leaning down to kiss him sweetly.
Almost instantly, his arms were around her and bringing her down to his lap. “Do I get some lovin this time?” Natasha giggled slightly before nodding. “Yes you get one thing of your choice tonight.” The man wasted no time in choosing his reward. “I want your mouth on my cock. I need it Mistress… please~” He whined as he began to free his cock from the confines of his jeans. Looking down, Natasha smirked before pressing a quick kiss to his neck.
“You’re a big boy aren't you?” She then moved off his lap and settled on the floor in between his legs. “Nervous?” Abby chuckled. “Oh please. I've had bigger sweetheart.” Natasha sighed before leaning in to press a kiss to the tip of the large cock waiting to take sanctuary in her mouth. That was a lie. Natasha had her fair share of fun sure, but none of her past exploits were ever this well endowed. Taking the tip into her mouth and swirling her tongue around it, her ears perked up at the heavy breaths Abby was starting to take.
Slowly but surely, she started to bob her head on the erection. Taking more and more of the cock until it almost filled her mouth completely. Save for a few inches at the base. “Oh f-fuck… you look so hot…” Now, at this point she would have smirked and made a comment about how desperate he sounded, but doing anything but trying to fit the rest of the cock down her throat was impossible. “Mm… oh yea… keep going…” Abby moaned as he watched Natasha suck his cock.
Although he was definitely enjoying himself, he was also physically fighting the urge to take the older demoness by her hair and fuck her throat. Not because he was worried about her, oh no. He knew she could handle it. It was his own safety he was worried for. Getting on her bad side was something that was not on his list for that evening. Suddenly, he began to moan louder and his grip on the couch tightened as his eyes watched Natasha quicken her movements.
Humming around his cock, creating vibrations that added to the pleasure. “Shit! Y-yes! Please! Oh fuck! Oh fuck!” Unable to resist anymore, Abby grabbed a fistful of Natasha's hair and began to fuck her throat. Pushing her head all the way down to his crotch causing her to deep throat him. “Fuck!! Mistress! Your throat feels so good! Your mouth! Mm! Mm! Fuck! So good!” The sounds of her wet mouth fueling his desire and urge to paint her throat white.
“Cumming! Oh shit! I'm cumming!! Yes! Yes! Mistress!! I'm cumming!” Looking up at the man, the moment Natasha's eyes met those of Abby's he immediately came down her throat. Pushing her head all the way down to his crotch once more. “Mistress!!! Mm! Fuck!!!” It didn't take long for the man to come down from his high after Natasha pulled away from his cock. “You alright? I-i didn't mean to get that crazy.”
Natasha only laughed and smiled before standing from her position and kissed his forehead. “I'm fine hun. Are you ok? I didn't think you could sound so…whiny.” She laughed as she watched the man groan before standing as well. “Put that away and get ready for bed. I'll join you shortly.” Natasha smiled before grabbing her phone and walking into the elevator. She then dialed a number, while the elevator descended.
“Natasha. I am pleased to hear from you. How are the boys settling in?” Gwi-Ma asked. “Fine. That's the only update you're getting from me, asshole. Don't contact me anymore.”

Hii💗 just came from your polyrujinu fic and absolutely devoured it, I saw that your request are open so I was thinking if you could write another polyrujinu fic but with a reader who has a secret identity 🤭
Like since both of them kept secrets from reader then why don't reader kept secrets from them😏
Honestly, I was thinking of reader being apart of alien stage, possibly a character like luka from alien stage?
And how would they react when they saw reader on stage😳 (I CAN SMELL THE DRAMA) and to not complicate things perhaps when reader is on stage she altered her appearance to be mostly unrecognizable 😚
If this request is overwhelming, you can just ignore this💖 (also would love more of poly rujinu crumbs even if it's not base on this request 🤭)
I'm really sorry I haven't watched Alien Stage🥲 so I hope you don't mind I'm making them apart of a band, which is K/DA

Biggest Fans
Poly Rujinu x Popstar Reader
Summary: when your secret comes out in the most terrible way and your walls come crashing down with the two most people in your life
1st/2nd person pov
"Ain't nobody bringing us down, down, down, down"- POP/STARS I sang into the mic, my mask making my hot breath fan into my face I held my pose as the crowd cheered, I stared out looking at all the band lights smiling underneath the fabric it feels amazing standing here, I relaxed from my pose along with my band mates taking a bow before running off stage peeling my mask off releasing a long awaited breath.
"Huntrix is here" one of our crew squealed making my body tense, my hands quickly rushed to put of the mask making a few mistakes as I watched them approach, Rumi smiled making my heart flutter "you guys were amazing" Zoey squealed rushing to hug all of us, the sudden pressure of her hug making me breathless, we all breathed out a 'thank you' leading them back to our changing room, we did a collab when we were just starting out so it's been a few times were we just hang out but my mask always stays on which they thankfully never question.
We plopped down on the couch with a huff Rumi sitting across from me on her phone most likely texting Jinu about dinner later, my heart jumped hearing my phone buzzed alerting me of a text, I watched her eyes flicker over with curiosity, I pulled it out, the screen switched on displaying her notification with a few hearts next to her name "hey guys I'll be back family calling" I laughed nervously standing up from my spot, walking into the connecting bathroom and shutting the door.
'Hey can I come over after this hangout???' my heart raced as my finger tips hung over the keyboard, I hate having to lie 'I'll be home late I have some new clients coming in for measurements, I have some snacks in the cupboard if your hungry' I typed out only to delete it 'I'm going to be here late tonight how about tomorrow?' I released a shaky breath as I pressed send, my eyes watched the double ticks turn blue, my breath catching as I saw the bubbles pop up and then disappear "everything ok in there" my body jumped and stumbled to catch my phone as it fell from my hands "y-yeah just a minute' I called out straightening up as I caught my phone, I checked one more time but no messages before slipping it back in my pocket.
It wasn't the first time I asked to move plans but they've done it to so she can't be that upset about it, I rolled my shoulders back relaxing them before leaving the bathroom, everyone was already standing by the door "so early" I asked confused Rumi only glanced at me before returning to her bandmate "yeah we got to bounce" Mira murmured her lips curled in a slight smile, we bid our goodbyes before they left.
"You know one of these days you are going to have to tell them" Madison spoke laying a gentle hand on my shoulder as I pulled off the mask, letting it hang loose on my fingers "I know your scared but they love you and I doubt they'd break up with you for being a superstar" she smiled before heading to her makeup chair, I stared at the ground in a daze 'how would it be if I told them' my mind went straight into a negative spiral it always does when it comes to them, I don't want to lose them, I just can't and them knowing I was lying would hurt them.
"Maybe" I murmured drowning out the conversation that continued sitting out the couch staring at my black screen no response or call just silent, it was nerve wrecking my phone dinged with a notification but it wasn't hers I tapped on it and it took me to a Insta live, jinu dancing with the band preforming on of their new songs, my heart fluttered he was just amazing "I'm gonna head out" I said standing up from my spot, I took off my mask and slid it into my pocket along with my phone.
I grabbed the rest of my things and waved everyone goodbye "remember I want the finished melody by tonight" our manager called out but I just waved him off and rushed into our drivers car that was waiting for me, we talked a little as my eyes traveled across the passing buildings watching the billboards switch between us, Huntrix and Saja Boys for the upcoming idol awards I sighed out of frustration throwing my head back against the head rest, this was so frustrating, why can't this be easy.
The car pulled up a hill nearing my small house slowly coming to a holt infront of its quaint garden, the beautiful wild flowers lit up by the small garden lights "goodnight" I smiled at the driver, stepping out of the car my body shivered at the cold night air, I just needed to shower I groaned in delight imagining the hot water racing down my body, I rushed into the house kicking my shoes off greeting the animals as I placed down my things heading straight for my room tearing off my clothes as I went, walking through my bedroom towards the bathroom I switched in the light before stepping into it, I was hit by the cold radiating off of the tiles.
My body quivered as I stepped into the shower turning on the water, a cold squeal leaving my throat as the cold water ran down my body before it started getting warmer, my body relaxed as the water heated up letting my hands ease my stiff muscles, once my body was relaxed I began to wash, combing my shampoo through my hair with my fingers letting the soap suds flow over my body I raised my head closing my eyes lifting my hand to rub my face, I i moved my hands to the tap starting to close it savoring the feeling of warmth till there was nothing left.
I grabbed my towel wrapping it around my body, flicking my hair forward wrapping it up too to dry, I walked into my room jumping onto my plush king sized bed grabbing my laptop bringing it infront of me "the finished melody here I come" I murmured stretching out my arms grabbing my headphones placing them over my ears, turned on my laptop scrolling to my music files watching the melody appear on my screen, pressing play the music was low in the background as I started feeling the beat "Is it really a surprise if I'm playing with your mind? And I treat you like a prize then I throw you to the side? Am I really that bad if I love to make you mad? And get happy when you're sad? Only care about a bag" my voice dwindled as I sung the new lyrics typing them as I go.
"In control That's how I like it and I'm never letting go, na-ah-ah Never had a soul (soul) So you ain't taking nothing from me when you go, na-ah-ah I'll stay so deep inside your brain And take you somewhere far away" - Villains the music continued as the lyrics flowed out my life my eyes closed tight getting into the mood, my eyes scrunched closed as the lights flicked on, the lyrics caught in my throat, I opened my eyes looking towards the door to see Jinu and Rumi there their expressions almost unreadable, I rushed from my spot flicking my headphones from my head cringing as the song started playing on full volume "I-I" I didn't know what to say and quickly turned off the song shutting the laptops lid, I looked towards Rumi seeing her hold herself the look of hurt taking over her face "Rumi i-" I paused watching her throw my mask onto the floor infront of me.
"that yours" she questioned her voice low her eyes not meeting mine, I bent down grabbing it and mumbling a quick 'yeah' "why did you not tell us" she muttered moving uncomfortably on her feet I hated seeing her like this 'rumi' I said stepping forward but she stepped away from me making me holt in my movements I opened my mouth, my words coming out shaking "I don't know why I didn't tell you, I just didn't know how to bring it up now it seemed to late to tell you" jinu just looked between us not knowing what to say.
"you could've told me when we first collabed together or the second or how about the fifth" her voice slowly getting louder with each word leaving her lips "I'm sorry Rumi I really didn't know how to tell you" I said making her sigh and look down towards the ground "is that why you always cancel on us" jinu said his voice cracked like holding back emotions, I sighed heavily running my hands over my face "this isn't how it's supposed to happen" I breathed in frustration.
"let me guess you didn't want us to know" jinu muttered my mouth gaped "jinu you know that's not true" I said but he just shook his head moving out of the door "I think it best we leave so you can focus on your secret life" Rumi murmured following after him, I called out but no response just the sound of the closing door, I stumbled back sitting on the bed my hands gripping the edge of it, my phone dinging with messages, my chest heaving with every breath as I went over the conversation in my head imagining the different why it could've gone.
My body was stiff as I moved my hand to grab my phone, my eyes widening as I read their messages:
Rumi: I just need time to think I'll message you when I'm ready
Jinu: me too
My eyes fluttered as I sent a thumbs up exiting the chat seeing my manager send a message on our group:
Manager: The driver will pick you guys up at eight the plane leave at nine
Madison: los Angeles here we come🥳
Lexie: can't wait🎉
I switched my phone off as the messages kept coming, placing it down on the bed I fell back against the mattress turning away from the device, I don't know how long I laid there just staring off at the wall ignoring the world around me, my eyes finally moved once I heard a meow coming from the door it was my cat toasty sitting his big eyes staring at me "feeding time already" I murmured to him groaning as I slowly got up half my body asleep, I slowly made my way to the kitchen filling up their bowls petting them as they walked past me "I'm gonna miss you guys" I said smiling at them before walking back to my room to pack before bed.
I sat on my suitcase finally closing it 'done' I breathed a sigh of relief pushing it next to the other one, I grabbed my carry on from my bed placing it on my suitcase, I moved to sit on my bed looking at my phone, no notifications from them, I bit my lip contemplating if I should tell them "they did say I mustn't message them, but they do now so it's best that I do" I rolled my eyes at myself "what am I doing" I muttered throwing myself back onto the bed "why do relationships have to be so hard" I looked around my room seeing my lyric book laying on my bedside table, I sat up onto my elbows staring at it.
I moved to grab it, slowly paging through all the songs I've written about them, I've never showed anyone this because it's the most vulnerable I've been, my hands traced the page of the last song reading some lines over and over maybe it's time someone does read it, I ripped a blank page from the back grabbing a pencil and writing a letter to them, telling them I'm on tour, as I was almost done my eyes started to droop shut from exhaustion 'just a little nap' I thought shutting my eyes.
I wake up with the sun in my face, my phone buzzing with calls "shit" I muttered stammering to my feet rushing to get ready, the clothes I threw on look peculiar and wrinkled, brushing my hair till it looks somewhat decent and rushed with my bags to the kitchen to feed the pets "I'll see you guys soon, behave for mrs Morris" I called out rushing out the door waving to mrs Morris as she called out to me from her house, I shoved all my stuff into the boot before joining the girls in the car "dam when did you wake up" Madison laughed "3 minutes ago" I giggled making the others laugh too, my heart pinged with sadness as I remembered last night's events 'can't think about that right now' "we got a show tonight".
The stadium was packed with fans screaming widely as you performed the new song, but only the band and crew can see that you were distracted by something, the dance moves were a bit off and the timings a second too late it was frustrating you, how you couldn't get them off your mind but then you saw it a different fan light your favourite colour and the person holding it was jinu who was smiling and singing along to the lyrics "please give a warm welcome to our surprise guests Huntrix" Madison yelled making the crowd scream louder, I watched Rumi burst onto stage coming right next to me "I'm sorry" she murmured but I didn't care and embraced her "don't do that to me ever again" I whispered "I promise" she smiled as we slowly let go of each other, we performed our collabs while jinu cheered in the crowd I finally was all in with them by my side.
"I love you guys"

warnings: just franco being dumb

[masterlist]

You turned on your phone when your boyfriend, who was on top of you, seemed glued to your cheek and started sucking on it like it was nothing—so obviously, you weren't going to miss the chance to get another video exposing him.
“Fraaan, you're going to make a hickey,” you said, scrunching your nose, waiting for your boyfriend to get tired of acting like an idiot. Too bad—by the time he pulled away, there was already a mark there.
He looked at the camera with an innocent smile, leaning on your shoulder before hiding behind it.
“Look at my face, I’mma kill you,” you said, turning your head so your cheek showed on screen. He looked at you, blinking a few times before leaning in again. “No!”
Luckily, this time it was just to blow a raspberry on your cheek, which earned him a very disapproving look from you.
Of course, that didn’t faze Franco at all, who calmly started playing on his phone, pretending to be offended.
“Now leave me alone.” That calm didn’t last long though, because soon enough he was back on top of you, trying to at least bite your earlobe—but since you hid in your hoodie, he had to find another task.
This time, he decided to start sniffing every part of you he could reach, burying his face in your neck and leaving little bites on your neck or even your cheek, which earned several annoyed sounds from you—once again, completely ignored.
At least until he got bored of bothering you and lay down next to you again, pulling out his phone to start gaming.
“And this is who I have to deal with every day,” you said, pointing the camera at your boyfriend while shaking your head slightly—until he noticed, stuck his tongue out at the camera, and leaned in to kiss you, slipping his tongue into your mouth and cutting off the video.

Perchance…Mira with a gn!reader where reader is someone who is famous/if not more famous than huntrix, but they work in a different industry, like acting. (I looove her so much, it’s a tie between who is my favorite between the girls rn..)

◆ MAIN COURSE: Mira x famous actor!gn!Reader
◆ TYPE: SFW, romantic
◆ ALLERGEN WARNINGS: Like. A single tiny mention of the making of intimacy scenes in movies
◆ NOTES: I love them all so much too IT'S SO HARD TO DECIDE WHEN THEY'RE ALL SO SILLY
Oh this is so cute insert that one track that plays with Rujinu meeting that's funny asf 😭
No one would even actually guess that the two of you were actually dating, especially considering idols mostly get matched up with other idols. Even more so during the middle of the movie, where Romirabby was RIFE in the shipping legion
I'd like to think that usually she doesn't really care otherwise, but when it comes to you she actually wants to keep things secret. The two of you both know full well just how fame kinda takes privacy away from the two of you—she just wants to go on dates w you without getting pissed tf off by of the amount of people that'd inevitably swarm the both of you
That DOES obv mean the two of you end up witnessing the multiple speculations in ships that Mira and maybe you too have
"Ro..mi..rabby?" You sounded out in amusement as you lowered your phone just to look down at your girlfriend, who was scrolling through her own phone while nestled into your side, "Sounds.. creative."
Mira snorted, and you could tell she rolled her eyes even if you couldn't see her face, "Sounds like a disease. Like rabies."
"Aww, don't be like that," you dropped your phone on the side of the bed to fully wrap your arms around her, pressing a kiss on the top of her head before watching her screen, "they seem nice."
"Right. 'Nice'."
"And your hair colours match! Like a pink poly trio. K-Pop news of the century."
"Are you seriously shipping your own girlfriend with two other people?"
"I mean.. the guy with the abs definitely seems like your type."
Mira turns her phone off before squirming to turn and look up at you, "You're my type."
A large grin stretched your lips, "Yeah?"
"Yeah." And she crawls up to press a kiss square on the lips, lingering long enough for you to draw random circles on her hips as her hand went up to lightly cup your cheek. When the two of you eventually pull away, she leans her forehead onto yours before murmuring against your lips, "So stop looking at them. And stop ego-feasting—you get that enough as is."
"Boo."
It'd definitely be mind-boggling for her, that she's managed to bag someone like you. Not just bc of your fame—she understands VERY well how it can eat at your time, but you two make it work frfr—but bc even with HUNTR/X, it's crazy to think that there's someone like you that makes her feel like she's home by just existing
The two of you would def be each other's hypeman trust. Like you support her with her idol stuff, and you'll have her binging every single thing you've acted on; she's gonna tease the living shit out of you if you've ever said/done smth embarrassing for a script, but she does it out of love trust. She'd also come watch you on-set too!! And make fun of you LMAO but it makes things much more fun. OH and since she knows how to choreograph, even as a dancer, it's still useful when it comes to shit like fight scenes for example. And with her experience as a Hunter fighter, it's genuinely really helpful
In a relationship with Mira, especially when you're someone famous, I think there's that cemented understanding that the both of you have your own lives and you're gonna be doing different things. You hang out with each other when you can, and you ALWAYS come home to each other in the end, but time can be sparse. So you two would often do whatever you can to stay connected—calling, texting, gifting, the works
This would prob be especially the case when it comes to you, considering you're an actor in this scenario. You'd be playing different characters and different scenes, and some scenes would be.. Something. Kiss scenes, intimate scenes, that kind of stuff. She's protective, hell yes she is, but she also knows that this is something you do in your job anyway 🤷♀️ to compromise, her request is that if you ever do an intimacy scene (which honestly the ideal case is to just lessen the amount you'd have to do, best case you do none at all), you let her know so that she can carve out time to watch you film and make sure that all the proper procedures are taken (intimacy coordinators doing their jobs, camerawork, etc). Unless you two have revealed your relationship, they'd just think you two are besties and she's protective of her bestie
HUNTR/X would be your biggest supporters. We know Zoey is an all-time fangirl of all things right. Like she is THE rep for us all. So her finding out that Mira's been dating this WORLDWIDE FAMOUS ACTOR THIS ENTIRE TIME ARE YOU JOKING???? AND SHE DIDN'T THINK TO SAY ANYTHING?!??!?!?! This girl would be freaking out, sobbing, asking for an autograph, EVERYTHING. Rumi's calmer, and would most likely be more impressed at the fact that you two kept it quiet, IF you keep your relationship a secret from them too at first (probably just at first when Mira's got no clue if it'll last or not, then she'd probably say something bc hellooooo they're HER FAMILY!!!!!!) BUT she's still sososo happy anyway and will also tease Mira to DEATH about it
Apart feom all that though? I don't think your dynamic would be any different to if somehow you two weren't famous whatsoever. She doesn't care about your fame!!! She genuinely just loves you and wants to support you as much as she can, not in the way a fan would with an idol or someone famous, but in the way that someone who loves someone so deeply would support her beloved. After being discarded and not loved in that way for most of her life, she refuses to let this relationship sour via treating it the same way her family treated her when it came to affection :(

I love your work!!! I was wondering if you'd write a teen!reader headcanon for them struggling with mental health, needing help with homework, coming out or getting bullied please? I especially love how you write Ava (she's my favourite character) and you manage to nail the Alexis voice
Absolutely adore this request.
I chose to write about the mental health, since I all of them (obviously) know how to deal with that. But I'll definitely put the other suggestions on my list!
Thunderbolts x Gn!Teen!Reader
✦ Thunderbolts Mental Health Support Headcanons ✦
∗ ࣪ ˖༺ ♡ ༻˖ ࣪ ∗∗ ࣪ ˖༺ ♡ ༻˖ ࣪ ∗∗ ࣪ ˖༺ ♡ ༻˖ ࣪ ∗
✦ Ava Starr
The quiet protector. Ava’s not the type to talk circles around you or push you to open up. Instead, she watches. She notices the changes in your behaviorthe silence, the distance, the fake smiles and instead of asking a million questions, she simply shows up. She’ll quietly sit next to you, maybe reading or scrolling on her phone, just so you know she’s there without overwhelming you.
Understands isolation deeply. After everything with her phasing, Ava knows what it’s like to feel broken, like you're a burden, like no one could possibly understand. So when you isolate, she doesn’t take it personally. She just leaves a small trail for you to follow when you’re ready a text, a post-it note, a granola bar on your desk. Tiny signs that say you’re not forgotten.
Soft but firm boundaries. If you try to shut her out completely or brush her off with a fake “I’m fine,” Ava will tilt her head at you with this deadpan look and go, “Try again.” Not mean, not angry. Just “I see through you. You’re not fine. But I’ll wait for you to be ready.” She never lets you disappear completely.
Takes you on quiet, low-pressure ‘missions.’ She’ll invite you on drives, walks, or errands that sound boring but feel safe. “Come with me to pick up supplies. No talking necessary.” It’s her way of offering you company without forcing conversation. These small moments help you reconnect to the world without overwhelming you.
Gentle about scars and history. When she finds out about your past or your scars, she doesn’t freak out. She doesn’t lecture. She just softly says, “You’ve survived a lot. You don’t have to survive it alone anymore.” And that’s it. She holds it like a secret you entrusted her with.
Fiercely protective in her own silent way. If anyone triggers you, bullies you, or drags you down—Ava will quietly, ruthlessly remove that threat from your life. No one knows how, but that person suddenly just leaves you alone. Ava doesn’t need credit or thanks. She just protects you. Always.
✦ Alexei Shostakov
Not the best with words, but man does he show up. Alexei might not always know what to say, but he makes sure you know you’re not alone. He’ll randomly sit with you, bring you snacks, or drag you into the living room to watch terrible old Soviet movies with him, just to keep you company.
Overcompensates with physical comfort. He’s big on hugs and ruffling your hair, and you get the sense he’s constantly making sure you’re still there, still safe. He’s the kind of guy who will pat your back so hard you almost fall over—but you feel a little better afterward.
Terrible at hiding his concern. He’ll blurt out things like, "You are not allowed to disappear, okay? I will find you. I will find whoever made you sad. I will crush them like beetle."
Secretly keeps an eye on your routines. He notices if you’re skipping meals, missing sleep, or isolating. He’s not subtle—he’ll straight up drag you out of bed and be like, “We are going for silly little walk. It is non-negotiable.”
Panics when you cry. He immediately calls for backup (usually Yelena) like he’s reporting a code red. But he stays. Always. Even when he’s unsure what to do, he refuses to leave your side.
✦ Yelena Belova
The calm-in-a-storm type. When you’re spiraling, Yelena doesn’t flinch. She sits next to you, quietly, like, "Okay. We are sad now. I will be sad with you." She doesn’t try to fix you. She just holds space.
Violently protective of your mental space. If someone at school or even in the team says something that hurts you, she’s on it like a hawk. “Tell me who. I just want to talk.” (She does not just want to talk.)
Talks about her own issues openly. She’ll casually drop lines like, "Yeah, I have bad days too. I usually throw knives to feel better." She tries to normalize it so you never feel broken.
Pulls you into little missions or tasks when you isolate. "Come help me spy on Alexei. It will be fun." It’s her way of reconnecting you with the world.
Terrible with cheesy comfort phrases. Instead, you get blunt affection. "You are not allowed to give up. You are my family. You do not get to leave me. I will be annoying forever, so you must stay to suffer me."
✦ Bucky Barnes
The king of quiet understanding. He never pushes. Never demands you explain. Just sits next to you, offers a cup of tea, and sometimes just says, "I’ve been there. You don’t have to talk, but I get it."
Not great with open emotional convos but will listen all night if you need. He doesn’t always know what advice to give, but he will nod along, let you ramble, and toss in dry little jokes to keep you grounded.
Gives you space but always checks in. Leaves little notes on your door like "I’m making food. You better eat." Or sends you a text: "Still breathing? Cool. Come hang when you’re ready."
Gets quietly, intensely protective if anyone makes you feel worse. He won’t make a scene but will 100% have a quiet, terrifying “chat” with the person responsible.
Teaches you small things to help. Like how to box when you’re angry, or how to breathe when you’re spiraling. He’s the type to hand you coping tools instead of empty comfort.
✦ Bob Reynolds
So, so soft about it. Bob is super emotionally tuned in and probably notices you’re struggling before you say anything. He gets this gentle, concerned tone like, "Hey, kid… you doing okay?"
Overthinks and worries a lot. He’s scared of saying the wrong thing or making you worse, but he wants to help. He’ll sit with you, make you tea, or put on your favorite show just to be near you.
Big on distraction days. He’ll offer to play games, watch movies, even sit and listen to music together, anything to help you breathe and not be stuck in your head.
Sassy comfort. Once you’re closer, he’ll throw in playful sass to make you smile when you’re down. "Look, you’re stuck with me now. Can’t get rid of me. I’m like emotional gum on your shoe."
If you cry in front of him, he crumbles. He holds you so carefully like you might break, and his voice drops to the softest whisper like, "Hey… hey, you’re safe. I’ve got you, okay? I’ve got you.”
✦ John Walker
Awkward but fiercely loyal. John’s not super in touch with his own emotions, but the moment he sees you’re struggling, he’s locked in. He just… doesn’t always know how to handle it. "You, uh, wanna… I dunno. Wanna hit something? Or get ice cream? Or whatever helps?"
Overprepares. Starts reading up on mental health resources, making checklists in his phone like "Things To Help The Kid When They're Sad" because he genuinely wants to be good at this.
Dad-mode activated. He’ll randomly show up with snacks, your favorite drink, or movie nights without making a big deal out of it. If you try to thank him, he waves it off like, "Don’t worry about it, kid. It’s what I’m here for."
Gets super angry at anyone who hurts you. Like, full-on clenched fists, ready-to-throw-down angry. But he channels it quietly—he just gets very, very protective from a distance.
Awkward comfort, but real. Might pat your back stiffly and mutter, "Look… I might not always get it. But I care about you, okay? You’re family. You’re my kid now. Deal with it."
∗ ࣪ ˖༺ ♡ ༻˖ ࣪ ∗∗ ࣪ ˖༺ ♡ ༻˖ ࣪ ∗∗ ࣪ ˖༺ ♡ ༻˖ ࣪ ∗
Hope this was alright, it's a little more detailed on Ava’s part since, of course, the request was for her.

a little self indulgent but… since i am a nail extensions connoisseur-> i love thinking about how caleb would help me through it! <3
caleb being your acrylic prince: headcanons
🍎 buttoning your tops (and unbuttoning too)
he’s so focused when he helps you button your blouse in the morning, brows furrowed like he’s solving a world crisis. “hold still, pipsqueak,” he murmurs, trying not to touch your skin too much… but whoops, his fingers linger just a little bit when brushing against your collarbone. he can’t help it, he is touchstarved and you are the only person who helps him feel better hmph!! later? he’ll cheekily whisper, “now i get to unbutton them too, yeah?” dork (you love him)
🍎 opening your soda can
he hears that sad sigh from across the room when you’re staring at the tab. you can open it but you just got your nails done and you dread opening it!!! fret not — he’s already coming over, cracking it open with one thumb, and grinning like a smug golden retriever. “say thank you~” you roll your eyes, and he adds, “nope, not good enough. say ‘caleb, you’re my strong soda-opening hero.’”
🍎 tying your shoelaces
you stand there, foot out, princess-mode activated. he crouches, tying them slow and dramatic, teasing,“didn’t know i was dating royalty. should i curtsy next?” still ties them into cute little bows. always double knots them. always tugs once and says, “there. safe and tight. like me ‘round your pinky.” you can tie your shoelaces of course but caleb… being caleb. shruggie 🤷🏻♀️
🍎 helping with jewelry clasps
you hate doing them with acrylics, and he knows it. so he wordlessly takes the necklace from your hand and fastens it behind your neck. he tucks your hair gently aside, kisses the nape of your neck, and says, “there. pretty thing deserves to be adorned.”
🍎 peeling stickers or opening packaging
you just hold out the box with that pouty face. he snorts but takes it. “seriously? this again?” still does it. every. time. even carries a mini pocket knife now just for your convenience. “i’m like your… acrylic support boyfriend.” “yes, you are.” “wait, is that even hot?” “yes, caleb. extremely.”
🍎 typing your phone password when face id fails
he remembers it by heart. he’s memorized the code. doesn’t even ask. just picks up your phone and inputs it like it’s muscle memory. looks at you with a wink. “can’t help it. i’m a genius. and maybe a little obsessed.” little? naur!
🍎 picking off lashes/lens cases/doing gentle tasks
sometimes you just look at him with that “can you help meeee” look, and he sighs so dramatically. but you know he lives for it. he sits you down, cups your face gently, and helps remove the stubborn lash glue or pries open the contact case. all while muttering, “you’re lucky you’re cute. and helpless. and mine.”
🍎 wiping crumbs off your lips ’cause you can’t do it with nails
he sees it. smirks. wipes it off with his thumb and slowly licks it. “what?” he shrugs. “you got croissant on you. i’m just being resourceful.” you scoff at him, “tsk, caleb, i can wipe it off!” “i know honey- but you don’t need to!”
🍎 helping you text when you’re like “babe just type it for me”
he dictates your sass perfectly. “okay, you want the skull emoji or the 😭?” “both.” “got it. also i added ‘lol’ so it doesn’t sound like you’re trying to murder them.” “you get me.” “always do, pips!”
🍎 closing your bracelets or rings or doing your lip gloss
he’ll click your bracelet into place with precision, kiss your wrist after. if you’re struggling with lip gloss? he holds your chin and applies it for you. real serious. like he’s painting the mona lisa. “don’t move. gotta make my girl all kissable.” then smudges your lippie >:3
