i've had this idea in my head for a few years now that some streaming service should just do another complete works of shakespeare show a la the bbc television shakespeare from the 70s-80s and i'm like. that's it that's the pitch really. it's public domain, anyone can do it. it's not like there wouldnt be plenty of creatives jumping at the chance to be part of such a project again. and it'd just be cool to see a 21st century version of it, perhaps with more non-traditional casting and settings, since the bbc was pretty restrictive of that sorta thing. it would certainly get a lot of press and discourse on social media; every episode would be an event. et cetera et cetera.

#text post #like literally the plays of shakespeare are right there any time someone wants to adapt them #and it'd be fun to see the lesser staged ones #i can't stress enough it wouldn't even have to be good. it'd just be interesting to see #i can't picture them doing a lot to make it 'bad' anyway #if they followed the bbc direction and used many different directors then you'd get a mixed bag #which i like about the bbc television shakespeare. but nobody beats my girl jane howell #her episodes are the best. i really do worship her as a director #shakespeare #i also have this vision but for other playwrights like especially christopher marlowe and aphra behn #but that'd be different bc it'd be the first time many of those plays had even been filmed #so it'd be an even more ambitious sort of project. and probably one much less likely to be duplicated
