Tar Anon grimaced as dread washed over his actively unconscious form, muffled voices ringing in his head as the words slipped just past his clawing grasp, the blackness he was used to whilst he slept gaining flashes of color he couldn't make out. What...was this?

Before he could answer his own question, he'd wake up, his eyebrows furrowing in both shock and confusion once he realized the tar on his arms had extended up his body..and his hands were in the pit he had woken up in. The one hidden away in the scorched woods. His true awakening site. Not the one he told people about. What..was he doing here? HOW did he get here?

Quick and unstable giggles emitted from the dim underground laboratory Sci called home, his hands quickly tinkering away at the miniature display of his current project; the fifth version of his attempt at a reality passing portal. This had to be the one that worked, the fifth's time the charm after all, right?

It didn't work.

I went in and it glitched. I felt as if a part of me was torn away as I was in between time itself for a little bit. Then I was back in the lab, the time machine smoking.

I'm just a failure, that's all I'll ever be. I'm probably gonna die from this spreading burn. But I feel... Happy about the pain now.
