Ripred's always so proud when Gregor gets salty with others. Like. "Hell yeah, that's my boy." Bro gets so joyous and warm fuzzy when the 12 year old bitches back at Lapblood and Solavet or Luxa. He laughs and backs him up. I just love that detail with Red so much and it's so funny that he's this middle aged war vet with an elementary schooler. Like teaching a sixth Grader to say 'fuck the police' in your old hard years. It's just "AWWWWWWW that's so precious. Lookit my lil' baby."

YES I love when Ripred admires Gregor's attitude! Those are the best scenes. Like when Gregor talks back to Luxa and Henry in Book 1 and Ripred is like "Tell them, boy! Tell them your country fought a war so they didn't have to answer to kings and queens." Great times

Ripred is a living one hit kill weapon. If he wants someone to die they DIE. He had a lot of crossed messy lines in the series and if he needed someone dead they were just never around or he couldn't do it for personal reasons (pearlpelt. He couldn't do it) Or Solavet (Needed her for his plan to play out.)

Did she invite him to regalia or secret meeting places outside of political or scheming (outright)purposes, introduce him to her family and get him attached, make him feel welcome and treat him like a friend? Out of her way with the intent of training him to be brainwashed loyal to and dependent on the humans, namely her and vikus?

I get Solavet probably kept them separated intentionally, or he just wouldn't fit in the code room but if Gregor almost dies because he's thinking about Luxa on the battlefield he can think about his bond who got injured out there and was still helping when Gregor was sent up to the code room. He saw Ares get hurt, where was he looking over the balcony or windows to see him? Asking guards or Ripred where the hell his bond was??

Gregor's whole character goes against forgetting Ares for a hundred pages after a fight where they both got hurt.

What is your most controversial TUC opinion?

I’ll go first: Ripred is NOT a father figure (except maybe to Lizzie) and treating him as one reduces his character down to little more than a cardboard cutout.

I was listening to the COTWB ep 37 on @returntoregalia (I'm late, I know, forgive me-) AND MY EYES WERE OPENED. It was SO in our faces and I never noticed- I just wrapped up my American Economic History class and I need to write a ten paragraph essay about Regalia mirroring the United States and England... In surviving on war. Every ten or so years, the US goes to war. I'm not going down that conspiracy or set up hole but one way or another we find a way to be involved in a war. Every ten or so years the economy starts to tank or people start finally focusing on internal national systematic issues. And every ten or so years, the US boosts the economy and unites the American people in war of some kind. We need it to sustain our lifestyle. Born of war, born for war.

The Regalians were maybe economically struggling because the spinners didn't need them, and the fliers were becoming systematically withdrawn. So Solovet, a politician, an economist, someone well educated inn the systems functions and purposes, started a war. Boom. Economy is under total government control, control over the people, who are now united, control over allies and spurs the spinners into trading with them better. Vikus himself said it was recent that their relationship with the spinners was so good. The fliers are deeply entangled with them and have likely sent MANY fliers to help with labor and supporting the regalians. And Luxa's parents are forced to likely relinquish quite a bit of control to the council. And Solavet, the army. The king and queen are either sent out to a very dangerous active combat position which is VERY unbecoming of people of such importance, especially both of them, OR they went out to try and negotiate and apologize to Gorger. Who obviously wasn't having any of that because thousands of pups and innocents were slaughtered for no reason in a peaceful place. So why would they go in person?? (SOLAVET IS THE OPP SHE LOCKED HAMNET UP FOR TEN MONTHS, SHE SENT THE KING AND QUEEN TO DIE.) And their little girl cannot hold any real power, not with Solavet, not when they're at war. Is pushed farther away from assuming control when combat reignites. And apparently, Luxa's just like her parents, the ones who sustained a time of peace. No search parties for Luxa... And I can only assume Nerissa was on borrowed time if she didn't follow Solavet's plan. Solavet pushed to END the war (the plague) when Luxa was missing. A nation of war indeed. And of course. Maybe Stellovet is just baby Solovet. That's her side of the family isn't it?.. It's not fair Luxa gets to be queen. When she's out of the way, she gets closer to it.
