DATING SEVENTEEN A⇴Z HEADCANON ⇴ Yoon Jeonghan

A ⇴ AFFECTION

Affection from Jeonghan will usually come in the form of a practical joke. He loves to mess around with you and wind you up, but once he’s finished pulling whatever stunt it is, he’ll always pull you into a hug to make sure that you’re not mad at him.

B ⇴ BEFORE DATING

The two of you had grown up together, you could never remember a time when Jeonghan wasn’t in your life. You gravitated towards each other from the moment that you met each other, his personality instantly drew you to him, and together, you soon struck up a very close friendship as you grew up alongside on another.

C ⇴ CONFESSION

As he began to grow up and learn more about love, Jeonghan realised that a lot of those feeling translated to you. When the two of you reached the point in your lives where you were beginning to find your own feet and walk down different paths, he knew that he couldn’t let you go too far down the path without him. His confession pulled you back when it began to feel like you were getting away from walking down his path too.

D ⇴ DATES

When the two of you started dating, very little changed. You’d often get up to the same things that you did as kids, the arcade or the beach were two of your favourite places to go. Neither of you ever settled on a favourite thing to do, you were both open to trying just about anything with each other. You weren’t people who could just sit down and talk on dates, you loved to mess around and laugh, and often end up getting thrown out of somewhere too for making too much noise and causing too much chaos.

E ⇴ EXPERIENCE

You were the first for Jeonghan when it came to everything, as he was with you. The two of you had experienced so much together before you started dating, it only felt right that you experienced everything to do with love together too. Already knowing each other so well certainly helped the two of you transition into a romantic couple, you didn’t have to learn too much about each other which was a big bonus. And best of all, you were already a suitable fixture to support him when he was working or away on tour.

F ⇴ FIGHTING

Sometimes, knowing each other so well certainly caused a couple of arguments between the two of you. You both knew the perfect ways to push each other’s buttons and wind each other up, which would often lead to many petty squabbles between the two of you. You’d never argue over anything major, but if you came home to see Jeonghan hadn’t washed up, then you’d hit the roof. The best way to describe your relationship was like an old married couple, but you could guarantee that any time the two of you argued with each other, it made everyone else who was sat around with the two of you fall into hysterics of laughter.

G ⇴ GETTING TO KNOW HIS FAMILY

You were already a part of his family without needing to get to know them. Secretly, his family had always been rooting for the two of you, so when you arrived at their home one day and told them that the two of you were together, they struggled to act surprised when they always hoped deep down that it would come true.

H ⇴ HOME

Having been around the boys since the very start, you’d always just been another part of the dorm. Neither of you were in any rush for Jeonghan to move out of the dorm, you slotted in perfectly, and the boys were always very respectful of your relationship too, so none of you ever had any complaints about the other.

I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU”

From a young age you’d always told each other that you loved each other, and so a romantic ‘I love you,’ never really happened. As you began dating, from friends, you still just continued to tell each other that you loved each other, only nowadays, it carried a bit more of a significant meaning then it did all those years ago.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY

You’d been a part of Jeonghan’s life forever, so if someone dared tried to take his place, he wouldn’t be happy about it. His eyes will often let you know when he’s feeling jealous, as much as you usually love them, all of the colour, will drain from them when he’s feeling bitter towards someone else. He’s always been the one to take care of you, and you’ve always been the one to take care of him, so if anyone tried to get in the way of that, then you both will quickly put an end to it and gravitate back towards each other again.

K ⇴ KIDS

The two of you always remembered how you joked in school about being mum and dad one day, that the thought of it becoming a reality almost felt too good to be true. You only ever saw your futures with each other, so naturally, you could only imagine having children with each other too. You’d often talk about all the old dreams that you had as children and imagine how many of them would eventually come true.

L ⇴ LAUGHTER

He absolutely loved to pull pranks on you and mess around, being serious wasn’t something that Jeonghan liked to be. The two of you were the king and queen of practical jokes as far as you were both concerned and would often pull pranks on the other boys and wind them up too. Together you made quite a daunting team because of the trouble you caused, even the staff were often on their toes whenever the two of you were nearby. If you’d had a rough day, Jeonghan would listen to everything that you had to say, but it would be inevitable that he’d soon have you smiling once again and forgetting about it.

M ⇴ MISSING

Being away from each other never felt like it got easier for the two of you. You’d spent long enough with Jeonghan travelling that you were used to time on your own, but that never meant that you were happy to be by yourself. What Jeonghan appreciated the most was how understanding you were, even if he wasn’t able to call you for a few days, you’d still eventually pick up the phone with a smile on your face and no complaints. He was good at controlling his emotions when he missed you, but he never got used to the feeling of not being able to see your face whenever he wanted to or hear your voice when he walked through the door.

N ⇴ NICKNAMES

His nickname ‘angel,’ was a bandwagon that you definitely jumped onto. He loved when you called him ‘angel,’ having given it to himself anyway, he was super pleased when you caved and started using it too.

O ⇴ OBSESSION

Jeonghan is obsessed with your eyes, he can tell exactly how you’re feeling by the look in them after so many years being around each other.

He doesn’t mind being affectionate in public too much, but he won’t make a big deal out of it either. He loves to prank the media and get yourselves headlines, and then laugh about it when he sees that a stupid photo of the two of you messing around each other has made its way onto one of the many popular news websites.

When you tell him you’re fine, when you’re not, Jeonghan will refuse to let it go. He knows you far too well to know when you’re faking a smile. He’s a good listener and will sit by your side until you’ve told him absolutely everything.

Over the many years you had together, the two of you collected a lot of things. As a result, Jeonghan loved to scrapbook, first your friendship, and then your relationship. The two of you would often sit down and look back over all the memories you had together, most of them you’d often forget about. Old cinema tickets and arcade tickets filled most of the pages, from films from a few days ago, to ones from many years ago.

Initially, intimacy was a big hurdle for the two of you, but you slowly managed to step over it. The two of you always felt like you knew everything about each other, but that was until it came to romance. The two of you could pick up on just about any emotion that the other was feeling by their kisses, whether you were happy or sad, the two of you would always fix or support any situation.

It's long but hey, thank you so much for allowing me to share my thoughts as kpop is something I do enjoy but I like to look at it from other points of view, how it looks to me from various perspectives, not just as face value kpop fans have tantrums every time something isn't right or whenever idol does something so small and irrelevant it becomes a scandal… shocking but idols are humans and won't always perform to the fans standard.

Fans bitch and whine about how the standard of kpop industry is too harsh yet it's not the industry that is encouraging it, it's the fans themselves, they cant accept minor mistakes and everything gets taken out of context while fans claim they know the idols… ie: Jennie's “lazy” scandal.

Yet they don’t scrutinize the idols whenever they are sexist, colorist, ageist, misogynist, racist, because they can “do no wrong” or their fans, will come to save their asses… even the flipping companies encourage it because they want them to be younger. After all, it's more appealing??? but what 25+-year-old fans are going to be drawn to teens in a group? I don't even find itzy, txt appealing and their whole group’s image is directly for those of teenagers and below, the music/dances, the image, it’s all catered that specifically of a younger audience, shame, I would’ve liked them otherwise.

The younger the idols = the better publicity and the higher chances of gaining popularity by getting into “scandals” for the lack of maturity and social awareness nor are they likely to take accountability and just do whatever they please anyway because they’re idols and their fans will still claim that their age isn’t a problem or because they’re a child/teenager/minor then its okay kpop idols are so out of touch with reality that when they have some form of criticism they start banning and suing left right & center… because they live as though everyone is going to fall head over heels for them and blindly accept everything they do because most kpop fans are already blinded by their idols and cant accept when an idol says or does something disgustingly wrong nor can they accept mild criticism without getting their pitchforks out.. its a cult, no denying it.

As lovely as the choreography might be I don't want to watch the idols if they are doing any of the above: dancing overly provocatively (especially when they may be on the minor age scale), twerking or grinding the stage or anything overly sexual at that.

Kpop fans lap it up because its socially acceptable to objectify the idols and make them appealing because of their “dancing/performance” when it is turning them into some trend because they “danced” overly sexy/cute, that's all they amount to is the dancing side of it

TBH I found it intriguing at first but now every kpop group tries to have this “sexy” look and it just doesn't work. it’s like asking a foreigner to be interested in kpop when they act cute except its not normal to appear cute over here, it's only going to appeal to those who maybe find it intriguing or different from their own culture.

Yet cute/sexy is all kpop idols can amount to even if it looks so uncomfortable and unpleasing to watch. alas they are idols, they’re not humans, they can twerk, dance provocatively and act cute all because the fans will enjoy it no matter what it is or who it is… age isn’t even considered but the younger the better they stand a greater chance.

Which is like bighit canceling everyone of the older generations who maybe possess the same talent but with a maturer image and behavior… its both ageist and sexist, why is it some huge fetish that just boys in or around 1999 only for their new survival show thing i-land? I find it… odd more than exciting or interesting cause I know its just typical for the members to be more younger but less appealing to older generation cause I have nothing that I’d relate too I don't even relate to the TikTok trend because that's all it is, another trend or bandwagon. yet everyone treats it as being this incredible new thing that suddenly acceptable for young folk even though it brings so much disgusting behavior/drama along with it, its a recycled version of the vine but worse, in the same sense this is what kpop does, recycle groups once they’re less appealing to make way for the same groups but look slightly different. 2ne1/blackpink, BTS/txt yet the fans don't say nothing about how it is encouraging the sexual appeal and almost asking for fans to thirst over them because this is what “dance” supposedly should be. sexy/cute nothing in between, it's saying that idols should portray this image cause it’s more appealing than the music itself. if the male idols show their abs/skin even better, females? wear the most uncomfortable looking clothing and ur good to go.

The kpop sounds now have become about the group's image, level of popularity, as opposed to actual talent, creative freedom and ability to give off a genuine performance that doesn’t include anything generic or robotic image. its got to be loud, bright, vivid because its all for the dance/sexual appeal of both the male and female gender is almost aligned with the concept for it.

The lyrics can be as disgusting as they please because its okay, its only kpop. any lyrics are acceptable, bts got called out for their lyrics in one song yet not in any of the others? same for other groups, so few call out the lyrics because lyrics mean nothing. it's about the visual appeal of the groups and the kind of fame they gather from it alone so you can have the visuals but do the bare minimum and not have much stage presence but be classed as a main singer or dancer, its okay fans will lap it up no matter what it is. also, I’ve noticed the same sound being used across several groups depending on the concept of the song… repetitive much? why does kpop fear change or standing out? why get idols to become something they are not ie: whitening their naturally beautiful dark skin, have idols who don’t need to, lose weight. it's not the company its the idols encouraging it because it's acceptable and normalized to be anything other than thick, natural and healthy.

Ppl act like trying to shove kpop into the western music genre will make it appeal any better, the fans act like they couldn’t see the racism coming, but that's what happened bts were forced into a culture that had nothing to do with them because in western we generally hop from one bandwagon to the next and just roll with it since it's popular it must be good.

ie: one direction, psy, 5 seconds of summer and now bts… how do so many don't see the pattern nor did they see bts coming? you expect Asian artists to become greatly admired over here too but when you shove it in ppl’s faces and try to get it to become the next big thing, not everyone is gonna see the appeal I honestly feel like it's been forced… not by the companies but by the international fans. now instead of trying to gain popularity in their home country kpop groups try too hard to appeal to the western market… you can’t even deny how vastly generic bts’ music has become SINCE they hit the American music awards or whatever it was. note: they didn’t even win awards for their music, but simply their popularity is what got them there

I loved boyz with fun, despised boy with Luv yet because they’ve been in the American industry’s eyes they put it out what has become popular just using their language… well sometimes, even idol, what could’ve been a great song with a nice meaning missed some marks, as in the overuse of auto-tune has become almost normal for them? vs using natural vocal abilities, I'm no coach but straining one's voice to hit a high note in a slow song doesn’t sound healthy. when all bts have done in the past is upbeat music is why they struggle to maintain high notes in slow songs because they’ve followed the same music style for so long then suddenly changed it so their voices don't match softer songs… which I’d appreciate more of instead of just dark lyrics and over-hyped upbeat poppy music.

ie: I loved the sound for serendipity, but the lyrics weren’t as good and Jimin kinda struggled to sing it well enough both in-studio and live, however its one of my more favorite songs. I’d also appreciate a slower gentle song that isn’t about a relationship too thanks looking @ you euphoria.

You think it's about the music, lyrical side of it but I disagree, it's merely the concept of yet another boy group that's sadly taken over in the most overbearingly forced way possible and you all act like the racism wasn’t going to occur. nct had an incredibly shit time in America during their tour its because it's not meant for America, its trying force kpop to become something it's not just to fit in with western music taste. I miss when they did full songs in Korean now they do English full versions with hella cringe-worthy lyrics and expect them to blow up or become the next big thing.

I’ve been walking with the cheese and the queso????? if ur happy and u know it clap ur hands???? theses ones make me laugh more than wanting to listen repeatedly, they throw them in there simply to appeal to western music, no matter if its a bad lyric, doesn't make sense or is cringe-worthy.

Kpop is built for Korean consumption it's great to see it's expanded however, its in the wrong directions for the wrong appeal. bts did not pave the way when psy also existed the same year they debuted. bts tried to get a following in America but failed because naturally psy was almost made fun of for just being an Asian doing what he does best yet the hype quickly dyed down & everyone moved on until bts came into the scene… so far behind than when they should’ve gone viral years before. not the companies fault but merely the appeal of the image/music wasn’t suited to the western music genre so when they become familiar more with America they switched the songs to sound pop-like… nothing wrong but less appealing than their original image/music, which I prefer, I’d say it started to change with not today era.

The only reason being bts have stuck around now is because of the boy group concept even if the lyrics aren’t that great when translated into English, they’ve already tried and IMO, failed to push their music into the western music industry and they’ve won awards solely based on the fandom/popularity alone kpop has become less and less about the music, energy of the performances, now it's about if they look right together as a group. how the group as a whole appeal to the fans and what makes the fans blinded by them… which is essentially their sex appeal, whether the idols are grown women or men or even teenagers, who might be uncomfortable with fans lusting after them. whether they’re dancing sexy or acting somewhat cute doesn’t matter because it's become acceptable and a must if you want to be an idol so fans can thirst over them.

Sorry not sorry but kpop has become much less about the music itself and see what is trendy puts it to music and calls it the next big thing. which is a shame I love the language I love how it sounds in the songs & I also love that it encourages me to learn the language that's more appealing than the group image/songs itself but they’re letting looks matter to the point where groups are mistreated abroad by both media and fans alike all because of this group image concept. nct getting mixed up with bts was pure racist but how can they fail to tell how different they are? wait, no, any Asian boys in a group must be considered to be bts… see its just one hype train after the other, even Astro got mixed and when parasite become popular and rightly won the awards some were racist. Trump's comment was appalling but at least he got the country right, yes, everything that's become popularised in America is from South Korea, gold star for that.

Its the concept of boy groups. not the music itself. if it were music then day6 would have a similar appeal, gain the same momentum as bts/nct have done, yet because they differ from the typical dance style boy group they won't gain the same effect as their counterparts, bts / nct & whoever else.

Yet they’re still appealing to the wider international audience and did very well with their tours, same for the rose, they don’t trend in the same way boy groups do but have some form of appeal because it’s a different concept/image style altogether than the way bts / nct, etc are put together but still they don’t have the same effect as some of the more dance-based groups have because its a different genre but still from the same industry…

Different genre means less appealing or less popular but I’d say day6 are doing better, producing a greater amount of pleasing music, with reasonable lyrics but don't receive the same amount of popularity. compare to bts / nct who follow similar styles mixed up of what is trendy and call it a day. whereas kpop dance groups throw anything out there and its okay cause fans will lap it up too.

It's not the song that got blackpink to Coachella, its purely the appeal of yet another young women based group, again solely so they can push the feminism, girl power movement through their “songs” but it's their image of youthful cutely acting girls that gains the attention of western men/women… little mix tried it so why not blackpink, heck even fifth harmony failed to maintain the popularity because the appeal wasn’t there in the songs, but they were females in a group, therefore, they must have some form of appeal to the public / recent trends, bandwagons

New Year, New MEga Goals

Before I hit into the 2019 goals and outlook, I do want to reflect on my last post. Sex has been a big topic of my blog and rightly so. I think that it was such a difficult thing for me to comprehend. Sober Sex! Getting intimate! Nervous! Scared! I had issues with my vagina this year where I couldn’t even put a tampon in without pain let alone the thought of anything else. I saw a gynaecologist for “vaginismus” - which more or less is the tightening of my vagina muscles making any type of penetration painful or impossible. I felt fine physically but mentally I was still holding on to previous trauma. I think seeing my therapist again and talking more about has helped me heal. Finishing the drought was n’t as bad as I had expected, in fact, I'm amused by the way it played out and so proud of myself for taking a leap and just feeling that confidence again! Of course - the first thing to do is message all my friends and update them on the latest and greatest news…One friend commented “ Isn’t it weird having sex with someone who’s drunk and you’re sober” - I was a bit taken back. I am not going to be able to dictate this I have made a choice to go sober - for me, it doesn’t change anything. I'm more conscious of ensuring that the male is in the right state of mind to consent. Its something I won’t be able to control and it doesn’t bother me either way.

Coming into 2019 a big part of this year is to stop being so hard on myself for everything I do, live in the moment, breathe and embrace. Its easier said than done but I'm getting so much better at taking a step back and being more accepting. Sometimes a friendly reminder that Hey, that's just you being you, dorky Sam, open book, bold, confident, cheeky, fun, loud, loveable Sam… I won't be everyone's slice of pie but Il always be delicious. I will continue to shine bright and not be discouraged by those who don’t value me or me being wholeheartedly ME.

I have written up a tonne of goals which I feel like have shifted than my outlook for 2019 originally. I have recorded them all below

I'm going to take a break from weightlifting. Two reasons, one is to save money and the other is to work more on building muscle and losing body fat. I have gone guns blazing into weightlifting but have been injured several times recently that its time to make a change. I want to get back into running I use to enjoy it so much and build more muscles in the legs. My 2019 goals are to

1.Squat my own Body Weight 2.Enter City to Surf in August 2019

Also, a friend from the gym TJ has kindly offered to write me up a program.. for free which I’m so excited for. She is so knowledgeable and has a strong understanding of what I want. She gets my vibe. I enjoy the gym, the feeling it gives me and getting shredded is also great... I love my body as it is today! Maybe not that one week during my period. I have definitely done a 360 from where I used to be I couldn’t stand my hips, my thighs, my chin…. Now my hips and thighs are my favourite parts of me! I used to have to look in a mirror at my therapist and it was super confronting at first but now I can't stop a looking!

My saving goals are to get back on the saving bandwagon. After a massive spring clean today, I realised I have so much stuff! I have seven pairs of shorts - is it really necessary… definitely NOT. I have been told on countless occasions that I’m a shopaholic. I will happily admit that I am. I think that most girls are but I don’t even think through a purchase I just swipe my card. It’s time I change that and take action. I would hate to know how much I spend on clothing each month... each year. I have a total shopaholic mindset which this year Il be majorly working on. Do I need it?. I feel like there is a birthday or any occasion I instantly ‘need’ a new dress for it. Other than it draining my bank account - Do I have any other purpose for it? I have brought so many one time dresses or outfits for just a special occasion. I also, on the other hand, have some items I wear to death e.g my denim shorts, my Elle t-shirt... essentially my go to ’s. Nobody actually remembers or gives a fuck what you are wearing ... let’s be real.

Last year in winter, I decluttered and asking myself -Do I need this? Do I wear this? I filled two kitchen rubbish bags with clothes ... and I was ruthless. I didn’t fall for the whole I might wear this again.... if it hadn’t been in my laundry for the past 6 months it was gone. I did make an exception for summer outfits but I was pretty honest with what I will wear and what I didn’t wear last season or what just made a guest appearance. It didn’t mean I now have space to add more clothes in those drawers it just means I’m a little less cluttered. Somehow I have managed to get my drawers chockfull… AGAIN.

So the rules are:

1. I will only buy if an absolute necessity - e.g. Work pants fall apart… which they won't cause I have about 7 pairs of those too!! 2. I am able to buy something new if I hit a fitness goal ( to be decided) 3. Don’t just buy it for aesthetics 4. Sell some shit and DIY

Although it's slightly contradictory to saving, I do want to get out more this year and see more, do more, be more social. Experience more of Sydney. It doesn’t have to be expensive but definitely want to continue going for hikes, seeing what Sydney has to offer and meeting good souls.

My biggest goal for 2019 (one which makes me nervous and excited). To quit my job and move to Amsterdam for a year. It's a big one. It will be bittersweet to leave the comfort of Goodman Fielder were I have worked for 8 years, to pack my bags and leave. Hence the saving goals are in dire need. I am only young once and I feel this is a prime opportunity I'm single, I am turning 29… I have nothing to lose. Why Amsterdam? Well, I have a best mate there which makes settling a bit easier, its a great location and I can travel around Europe. I went to Amsterdam around 4 years back and absolutely loved it and the vibe and could see myself living there. The goals are too:

1.Buy a one-way ticket to Amsterdam for September 2.Learn basic Dutch

Moving into my more emotional and ‘icicle’ related goals. I am such a self-reflector and so more self-aware than I have ever been and I want to make sure that I'm not just thinking of my self but others too. I really want to pick up a volunteer role as I have been trying to find one which suits who I am and what I believe in. I will continue to keep my eyes peeled. My top 5 emotional goals to work on :

1.Be more decisive - Don’t be scared to make a decision to please someone else. Just go with your gut. No answer is the wrong answer 2.Don't get caught up on males - validation that I don’t need. I am enough. Stop wondering if I'm good enough for other people and start wondering if they’re good enough for me 3.Making enough time for the VIP in my life 4.Continuously praise and validate my self-worth - Be kind, gentle and caring. Making my own happiness. 5.Continue blogging to express me, my thoughts, my freedom, my being.

ok like. i stumbled across ur “a special friend” post when it was first posted and im ngl it sooo good ?!! the portrayal of the reader was actly one i could relate to really well. I struggle with social anxiety and selective muteness alot and ive honestly never seen a selective mute reader been written so well before. (im not sure if selective mute + social anxiety was really what you were going for but i just related to it so much i hope you dont mind!!) The anxiety that the reader has isnt just shyness x 100 that many writers portray (which isn’t inherently bad but i just cant relate to them). The way you’ve written the reader with other “unseen” side effects like the nail picking or the lip biting or throwing up, i think its a great take on anxious readers. also the way uve written the relationship between the weasley twins and the reader is amazingly done. they dont step on eggshells around the reader and instead make jokes by calling the reader “ghostie” affectionately. i think its great cause again so many times ive seen x readers where the reader is socially anxious, and the dynamics kind of change from friends on equal level to a more infantalised (?) relationship. theres so much more i want to say but i cant really think properly rn i jst wanted to jump on the bandwagon of ppl praising u and send in my 2 cents. yeah anyways, a special friend is my favourite piece of work by you and one of my favourite x reader fics here. i hope you do more fics like this !! <33

i read the word rant and my heart literally dropped and then i saw the tone indicator and was like ohhhh hahaha

the reader is heavily influenced by my own experiences with the anxiety i felt growing up and self esteem issues, which like low self-esteem often manifests into anxiety at least for what I’ve seen ! and of course it’s more than okay for you to define the readers experiences however you like and read into how she responds in whatever way feels right for you! i can only say she goes through it the way i do and im relived that it’s something people can relate to

i totally agree that sometimes people fall into a trap of writing the reader as though they’re a child that needs protection and i tried my best to steer away from that whilst still having the twins treat her with empathy and compassion, though im not sure it ended up exactly how i wanted it to

Can’t believe I forgot to post these!! Anyway, I recently got back into MLP and there’s a thing a lot of people have been doing where they redesign the “mane-six”, and so I decided to jump on that bandwagon lol

So here they are!! Plus a Celestia and Luna that I finished to day, and a height chart (That I also started today) (Pinkie Pie and Rainbow dash are tiny bbs and u can’t take them away from me)

I’ll copy-paste my headcannons from wattpad here, so that y’all can know how I imagine the characters:

kind of like to imagine Twilight as being pretty tall and lanky; she ain't buff like some others lol. She's the tallest of the mane six!! I really like the whole historically-accurate tails (like the fairy tale ones in old paintings and stuff) that the fandom has started to put on the unicorn characters. So I like to imagine all of them with that! Also, since she has sort of a night-ish theme about her looks, I kind of like the whole white spots thing, since they kinda look like stars? I guess lol. I also headcanon her as Bi! (I mean come on, her entire color schemes has the bi colors in it. I'm GONNA headcanon her as Bi), and, to be honest, I KIIIINDA ship her with Tempest (from the movie). I mean did you see that loving look that they shared at the end??? Girlf riends

For pinkie pie, I am in love with the headcanon that she's short and chubby!! Anyone who draws her with that headcanon instantly becomes my best friend. She's adorable. Purest of babies. Shortest of the bunch! I also headcanon her as a lesbian! And I ship her with Princess Skystar (Also from the movie). Also girlf riends.

Apple Jack!! I imagine her as being stocky and buff, of course, and almost as tall as Twilight, but not quite there. and she is definitely a panromantic asexual icon. Buff apple pony. I don't have anyone I ship her with, so Apple Jack is a single Pringle for now lol

I like to think that Rarity has cool looking ice-blue tips in her mane and tail, she's very proud of her hair lol. I headcanon Rarity as a beautiful trans bean!! (The idea was introduced to me by one of my favorite artists and I fell in love). She's shorter than Twilight, and not as lanky, she's about in the middle height-wise when compared to the others. Taller than Pinkie Pie (though everyone is lol) and shorter than Apple Jack and Fluttershy. Rarity is definitely a fashion Bi. Hell yeah!!

Fluttershy is slightly chubby, and almost as tall as Twilight, about the same height as Apple Jack. Though you can really only tell her height when she stands up straight, which she rarely ever does lol. She's an asexual aromantic, she's only in love with nature. Her large amount of hair sometimes causes issues but she manages.

I present to you: TRANS RAINBOWDASH!!!! Your favorite asexual homoromantic (asexual lesbian). She's pretty buff, and is the second shortest of the group, falling in-between Pinkie Pie and Rarity. She has freckles, but I forgot to include them in the drawing so just pretend they're there lol.

Rainbowdash swears that she’s average height, everyone is just freakishly tall.

Well Written, Realistic OC/Self-Insert Fic recs in ASOIAF or GoT

Hey! Long time reader first time poster on reddit, hope I do it right.

I'm looking for some good fics with an Original Character as a main character in A song of ice and fire or the Game of thrones tv show. I would prefer an OC, but Self-Insert is good as well. My main thing is that it is so hard to avoid OC/Selfinserts that are Mary/Gary sues or are completely unbelievable since the story ignores huge canon plot elements just to further the romance/story they way they want it to go with no explanation. I'd really like a story that focused on believable plot more than romance, but I've read some good romance focused stories that also have good plot so romance is okay (as long as there is also good plot outside of the romance).

Stories I've already read:

Price of Our Sins by RoweenaJAugustine Well written and well rounded true born baratheon OC who marries Robb. I like that she has flaws and isn't perfect, and she brings life to the Baratheon/Lannister family drama.

Defying Demons by darkwolf76 Okay OC fic but is a bit too focused on the romance for my taste. Nothing seems to happen that isn't directly affecting the OC.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Robert's Court by AJNolte Been a long times since I read this...but I remember it being good if needing a bit of belief suspension on some of the modern technology that mike implemented in westeros. Also cant find it anymore...

The Mountains Range by BronzeStar Wasn't a huge fan of this one, mostly because it seemed to move really fast and the SI was ridiculously knowledgable. The characters also felt pretty flat to me, unfortunately...However I admire the time and detail that went into the plot of the fic.

And lastly, a really new one that I hope doesn't fall off the bandwagon:

A Northern Intellect by TeaFourTwo Pretty early on, but I think it has promise. Stark OC that is the twin of Brandon Stark (Neds brother brandon-not his son brandon) and is still a child at the moment. Seems to be some kind of reincarnation, but one that can only remember the bits of the knowledge of their past lives in dreams or maybe by almost dying? Not sure yet, its very vague sometimes, but it's interesting. Set pre-roberts rebellion.

Are there any other OC/Self-Insert fics (other than the ones above) in ASOIAF/GoT that are well written, realistic and don't require too much suspension of disbelief?

I'm so hooked on these things, but it's so hard to find really good ones! But I'm sure that doesn't mean they aren't out there, they're just hidden from me!

Nintendo’s Super Mario Collection is Too Good To Be True, Right?

A Mario collection could be a bundle for the ages; but am I the only one who thinks that it just might be too good to be true?

Nintendo is the king of giving their fanbase everything they want, but usually with a catch. Fans were practically screaming from the rooftops that they wanted an online service. Nintendo answered with a $20/month subscription plan that gave players multiplayer access to select titles and a catalog of titles to play, but only NES titles. Then a year later, a selection of SNES titles came to the service, but not too many. Oh! Your favorite Wii U game is coming to the Switch?! But for $60. With the rumors–which have been backed by multiple reputable sites–that Nintendo is remastering many of the Super Mario titles including Super Mario 64, Sunshine, Galaxy, and 3D World wrapped up in one collection, there has to be a “but,” right?

I think there is absolutely no way that Nintendo will bundle all of these remasters into one collection. Despite what the rumors suggest, it is just not going to happen. I refuse to believe it. Take that thought and throw it in the trash right next to Mario Tennis Ultra Smash and Mario Party 10. I have a better chance of Reggie Fils-Aimé adopting me as his adult son. Think about all of the ports that have made their way to the Switch from the Wii U. Now think about how all of you suckers bought them again for full price. It’s ok, you can meet me at the Switch Port Buyers Anonymous Club; we are a welcoming community.

Nintendo is one of the only companies that has the guts to release 5-year-old games with minimal improvements for full price and get away with it. New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe is probably the best example of that. When the game was first announced and the price was revealed, I nearly took my laptop to the dumpster because it had to have been broken. If you believe that a remastered version of Super Mario Galaxy–arguably one of the greatest 3D platformers ever–isn’t going to be a standalone title priced at $60, then I want whatever you are smoking.

Hell, even if Galaxy wasn’t a great game (I got nauseous just typing that out) Nintendo would still get as much money as possible out of it. Mario is the flagship series for the company and every iteration is near the top of the sales charts for whatever console the game releases on. Super Mario 64 (albeit it was a launch title) is the bestselling N64 game of all time. Sunshine was the third bestselling GameCube title. Galaxy was the 9th bestselling Wii game, selling almost 13 million copies, and New Super Mario Bros Wii was the 4th best-selling title with a staggering 30.28 million copies sold. Even Super Mario 3D World sold almost 6 million copies and placed 2nd on the Wii U. If Mario is in the name, the game will sell on a Nintendo system.

As stated above, there is probably no better argument for this than the port of New Super Mario Bros U releasing for Switch with not much additional content for $60. Nintendo had to be crazy right? Who would buy a good but not great 5-year-old platformer in a series that everyone was tired of? (psshhh totally not me, am I right guys?) Well guess what; we bought it anyway, because it is the 9th best-selling Switch game right now.

On top of that, Nintendo has been in this business for a long time. Anyone out there who thinks that the company is naive enough to think that its consumers will not drop $60 on a remastered game is fooling themselves. Despite the cost, if these games are in separate packages, they will still be some of the best-selling games for the Switch this year.

What I could see as a possibility is Nintendo slowly dropping these remasters throughout the end of the year. Whenever the next Direct takes place, which will probably happen sometime around early June to line up with when E3 was supposed to take place, imagine that Nintendo officially announces all of these remasters with Super Mario 64 Remastered releasing that day or in the weeks to come for $60. Additionally, a release schedule is unveiled for the rest of the titles with Super Mario Sunshine releasing later in the summer, Galaxy (and hopefully Galaxy 2) releasing that fall, then 3D World coming later during the holidays.

It makes perfect sense to me. Yet, Nintendo seems to never take the path that just makes sense. The remasters do not even have to be the full $60 each. I am willing to bet most of us will buy all three titles and if they are each priced at $40, that’s still $120 all together.

The separation of the titles gives the company a slam dunk in sales in just about every other month of the second half of the year. The Mario franchise is always one of the bestsellers for Nintendo, and to have a full game release every other month wouldn’t even be a home run. It would be as if Doug Bowser smacked the ball through our atmosphere and through the moon. The game would just be over.

Though, I hope I am wrong. The speculative side of me just can’t deal with the possibility of a 3D Mario collection. It just sounds way too good to be true. Nintendo has a long history of nickel-and-dime-ing its consumers, whether that is charging customers for a Virtual Console title even though the game was purchased before, refusing to drop prices of their popular games for years, or charging full price for a port of a five to six-year-old game. Us Nintendo fans have been gouged over by the company we adore at least once before, if not more.

If the reports have turned out to be true and Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy are bundled together, I will be happy to admit that I was wrong. It would be a move that would greatly benefit Switch owners financially and maybe put the stigma behind Nintendo a bit that they love to price gouge some of their products. Plus, all you jabronis out there who are still trucking on the Sunshine hate bandwagon finally get a chance to re-experience the game and possibly reflect on other bad opinions you have decided to take.

Woke up to a lotta DJ’s speaking on helping artists & then the artist runnin off. It takes hundreds of DJ’s consistently on a song to break it....yea it do take that many & it’s impossible to pay you all. So we try to work favors. The problem comes with what u expect when u ask for ur favor back. Most times it’s unrealistic. U help break a song then wait til the artist at 30k to ask for a free show. U dj at a club that hold 200 ppl. Yea u played the song consistently. But U couldn’t get ur show when the artist was at $3,500? $5,000? That’s greediness. That’s how you lose on the whole opportunity AND don’t get shit. The simplest way to get what u want for ur services is to communicate. Have a talk. Get an understanding. A clear one. Not the mumbling dj “just look out for me” line. Tell us what u need for ur work. If we feel it doesn’t have value or we can’t afford it we’ll pass. I’m personally not gon beg u down on ya prices. But it’s too many o y’all claiming niggaz fucked y’all over when all ya did was jump on the bandwagon once the song was already poppin. DATING NCT A⇴Z HEADCANON ⇴ Wong Kunhang

A ⇴ AFFECTION

Kunhang loved affection, but he was often very sensitive to your touch. You’d often tickle him or brush over his skin and hear a giggle come from him or feel his body jolt away momentarily in surprise at your sudden affection.

B ⇴ BEFORE DATING

The two of you met through mutual friends at an event that was being held. Whilst you were stood by yourself, Kunhang decided to approach you and offer you some company and a drink. You were quick to accept his invite and soon got to know him, most definitely liking what you saw in him too.

C ⇴ CONFESSION

A lot of thought went into Kunhang’s confession to you. He took his time in making sure that the two of you were on the right page and he didn’t want to scare you off either. He decided to confess at the end of one of your dates together. It became a bit of a transition that neither of you could bring yourselves to say goodbye, so instead of saying goodbye, Kunhang decided to tell you exactly how he felt.

D ⇴ DATES

The two of you will give anything on your dates a try at least once. At least once a week, if you can, the two of you will set one evening aside to spend time with each other in amongst the chaos that came with your busy lives together. It doesn’t matter whether you’re sitting down for a meal or enjoying something more active, what the two of you make sure you do is value the time that you have together and take some time to breathe away from all of the carnage that comes with your careers.

E ⇴ EXPERIENCE

Having a relationship was something that Kunhang had always looked forward to, but there were plenty of nerves there for him too. He worried a lot about so many little things, your safety, privacy, he never wanted to put you in a bad situation no matter how often you assured him that you could handle things. Talking was key in your relationship, whenever those nerves crept back in then Kunhang would talk to you straight away so that you could help himself to ease and push those nerves aside before they grew too strong.

F ⇴ FIGHTING

Kunhang isn’t afraid to stand up for what he believes in so there are definitely times when the two of you will find yourself coming to blows. Whilst he’s not necessarily stubborn, if he feels like he’s right then he’ll try and put his point across to you as best as he can. But he’s also smart, and can tell when arguing a point has outlasted its worth and begins to drive a wedge between the two of you. Kunhang will know when to stop which will perfectly prevent anything too begin coming to blows between the two of you. He fights for his view to a point, but knows when not to overstep the line.

G ⇴ GETTING TO KNOW HIS FAMILY

Having three sisters, Kunhang knew that it would be impossible for you not to get on with his family. Adding another girl to the family was exactly what they wanted to wind Kunhang up, and being able to share plenty of stories and gossip on Kunhang was an added bonus for you all, much to his expense.

H ⇴ HOME

Moving in with you was definitely something that Kunhang looked forward to as part of your future together. He wasn’t prepared to rush things or move too quickly, but as your relationship began to progress he knew that he saw himself living somewhere just with you in the near future.

I ⇴ “I LOVE YOU”

He was the first to say ‘I love you,’ at the end of one of your date nights. Kunhang wanted to be sure before he told you how he felt, but as your evening came to an end and you began to say your goodbyes, he knew that the time was perfect to open up to you. It certainly left you surprised, but you were quick to say it back, leaving him just as surprised as you.

J ⇴ JEALOUSY

Jealousy wasn’t something that Kunhang felt often, he was known to get loud in some situations, and that was usually a bit of a sign for you that he was starting to get uncomfortable. He would never admit to being jealous, it was something that would usually occur without him even knowing, but when the voice got higher, you knew that it was probably time to step in and reassure him too. It would only be once you’d told Kunhang what you saw, would he realise that perhaps he was feeling jealous after all.

K ⇴ KIDS

The future was something that Kunhang had thought about a lot, he came from a reasonably big family with his siblings and definitely wanted to continue to create a big family with you too. Of course, there was no rush for either of you, from the start, you both agreed that when the time was right this could be something that you could look forward to, but until then, you had plenty of memories to make together.

L ⇴ LAUGHTER

There are definitely times when Kunhang can get loud and draw a laugh out of anyone. He likes to make sure that you’re happy, and if the responsibility to do that is on his shoulders then he’ll happily step up. He’s not afraid to be himself around you which definitely helps him as he tries to make you laugh as often as he can. It’s natural whenever Kunhang is around you too, that he finds himself smiling. Your company alone is enough to brighten up his mood, knowing that he’s not by himself always brings a grin to his face, and as he takes note of all the quirky things that you absentmindedly do, he’ll often find himself laughing away to himself too.

M ⇴ MISSING

Kunhang is usually able to handle his feelings pretty well, when he’s overwhelmed he tends to be be quite calm and make sure that no one else can recognise how stressed he is. The other members could be forgiven for thinking that he’s not missing you by how well he manages to disguise his feelings, but the moment he sees you on a call, those emotions will hit him hard. It’s only when he physically sees you, is Kunhang reminded of how much he’s missing out on and how hard being on tour really is for to both. Yet still, no one else would know, it was something that was kept between the two of you.

N ⇴ NICKNAMES

You very quickly made the decision to jump onto the bandwagon and call Kunhang ‘donkey.’ To begin with, he hated it, but over time he learnt to adore whenever you called him by his nickname that he was so attached to.

O ⇴ OBSESSION

Kunhang was obsessed with your mind, he loved to know about your thoughts and interests. An intelligent mind was definitely something that Kunhang was attracted to in a partner.

P ⇴ PDA

Being affectionate in public isn’t something that Kunhang is huge on. If you randomly touch him in public it’ll often make him incredibly shy, which usually gets captured by a camera, much to his embarrassment. He likes to be the one to initiate affection so that he can see it coming and keep himself in control.

Q ⇴ QUESTIONS

Kunhang’s smart, he loves to engage in discussions and share facts with you. He’d often ask what you think about things or ask if you want to hear an interesting stat he’d read. Usually, before you’ve answered, he’s started telling you about it anyway.

R ⇴ RANDOM FACTS

Adventures are one of your favourite things to do together as much as you can. …okay, I put that equation into Wolfram Alpha, but the graphs it shows you by default are extraordinarily hard to read, and you can’t get any further detail without signing up for a Pro (i.e. paid) account, soooooo…. I’m just gonna answer all of them! Hope that’s okay! ^^;;;

1. First console you’ve ever owned?‘Twas the original NES. I was so happy when my parents bought it (although tbh my dad bought it as much for himself as for me). I spent so many hours playing the SMB games… ahh, good times.

3. Favorite childhood game?Hmmm, probably Super Mario Bros. 3. That was the one I spent the longest playing, anyway. My mom even went to the trouble to borrow the strategy guide from the library, photocopy the whole thing, and bind it together into a book for me. My mom was the best. ;_;

4. Longest consecutive hours you’ve played a game?Whew, uhhh, not as long as some people, I’m sure. I don’t think I’ve ever spent more than 8 hours straight playing games. I’m certainly no match for the likes of Neptune and Vert, that’s for sure. ^^;;;

5. Game with the best soundtrack?I actually really really like the soundtrack from the first Hyperdimension Neptunia game. A lot of those songs just get stuck in my head, y'know? Especially Nepgear’s theme. :3

6. An underrated game from within the last few years?Hmm, gonna go with Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed. It apparently only got a 64/100 on Metacritic, which is WAY too low for how fun this game is.

7. Most disappointing game you’ve played?Honestly? Most of the Jak and Daxter series. I really really wanted to like those games, but I just… couldn’t. There was just something about them that really turned me off. I enjoy other, similar games, so I don’t know what it was. I got all of them for super cheap (like probably $5 each) so it’s not like I spent a bunch of money on them, but I still felt ripped off, y'know?

8. The game with the best atmosphere/scenery?The Metroid Prime games, for me, had some of the best settings. Nicely-rendered and completely appropriate for the feel of the game. If you’ve never played any of the MP games, please do so. If you can play the Wii controls versions, so much the better (it’s playable with the Gamecube controller but once you use the Wiimote to aim Samus’s gun you’ll never go back).

10. Prefer PC or console?Based solely on the number of games amassed, PC wins out, but I honestly don’t prefer one over the other.

11. Have you written any fanfic or made any fanart?…not of video games, no.

12. Most bizarre game you’ve ever played?It’s pretty tame, but probablyyyyyy…. Goat Simulator. Like, what the fuck even is this game.

13. Scariest game you’ve played?Well, I haven’t actually played it yet, but the scariest game I currently own is probably Spooky’s Jump Scare Mansion.

14. Do you watch playthroughs online?Not really, no.

15. Favorite animal in a video game?This is kind of an odd question… I’m gonna have to go with Gex the gecko, particularly from the second game. I loved that game so much.

16. The best year in gaming you’ve experienced?Literally every year seems better than the last, so I can’t really answer this question. This year has been pretty amazing so far, but then, I’ve said that about every other year past, so… ^^;;;

17. Have a video game themed background or lockscreen?LOL of course I do! My desktop wallpaper is Neptune and Nepgear, and my phone’s lock screen and home screen are both pics of Purple Heart.

18. Worst game you’ve played?Ooh, interesting question. I don’t really know if I can answer this properly? One of the games that stands out to me is called Sparkle 2 Evo. The graphics were nice but the controls were awful and it was nearly unplayable. The devs might have patched it since, but I kinda lost interest in it so I don’t really care at this point.

19. Hardest game you’ve ever played?The hardest game I’ve seriously played is probably VVVVVV. Fuck that game. >:(

20. Favorite publisher and/or developer?If I don’t say Idea Factory (and/or Compile Heart) I’ll feel like I’m betraying my beloved Neptune, so I’ll go with them.

21. If you had to play one game for the rest of your life, what would it be?I don’t know if this really counts as a video game, but I’m gonna have to say Mamono Sweeper.

22. If you could turn one game into movie, which would it be?The first game that sprang to mind was Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. It was such a cool game, I’d love to see a cinematic version of it (also can you IMAGINE Samus on the big screen? EEEEEEEEEEEEEE).

24. Ever cried because of a video game? Which one(s)?Oh, probably! I know SMB3 made me cry when I was little because there was one level I just couldn’t beat no matter how many times I tried it. I forget which level it was now, lol.

25. Proudest accomplishment in gaming?Hmmm, probably the time I finally actually beat Indalecio in Star Ocean 2, when you do the event where his power limiter is removed and he basically becomes a god. Fuck me sideways, that was an insane fight.

26. How often do you play online? Co-op?Almost never! The last game I played co-op was MegaTagmension Blanc + Neptune Vs. Zombies (I played with @aboutthreeneps), but I really don’t do online gaming much.

27. Have you gotten any friends into gaming?Maybe? Most people I’m friends with are either already into gaming, or else they’re not interested, so…. probably not.

28. Who got YOU into gaming?Hmm, I guess it was my dad. I watched him play a bunch of games when I was a small child and was like “THAT LOOKS SO COOL I WANNA DO IT TOO”.

29. Watch cutscenes or skip them?I usually watch them, unless it’s one I’ve seen a bunch of times (or one you can’t skip… damn unskippable cutscenes).

30. On average, how long does it take you in the character creation screen?…quite a while. It depends on the game, I guess. When I made a new character in Stardew Valley today, I spent between 5-10 minutes, but when I was creating a character in Saints Row IV, I probably spent close to an hour tweaking every little variable to get it just right.

32. Do you cosplay?Not really, although I did cosplay as Squall from Final Fantasy 8 one time. I still have the gunblade sitting around somewhere.

33. Favorite female npc?34. Favorite male npc?These two questions are really hard for me to answer! Mostly because I find games fall into either one of two categories: ones where the NPCs are faceless and forgettable, and ones where the NPCs are extremely well-done and I love all of them.

35. Best protagonist?Neptune, duh.

36. Best antagonist?I like GLaDOS from Portal.

37. Ever been made fun of for playing video games?Hmm, I don’t think so.

38. Have you tried a game, hated it, then tried again, and loved it?Again, I don’t think so? There’s been plenty of games where I’ve been like “meh” at first and then “OMG THIS GAME IS AWESOME” later, but I don’t think there’s any I really hated that I went back and liked later.

39. Do you play for achievements/trophies?Not explicitly, or at least, not at first. I tend to play through the story of a game first, and then on my second playthrough I’ll try to get most of the achievements.

40. Favorite voice actor?A new favourite, but a favourite nonetheless: Megan Hollingshead.

41. Gone to a midnight release before?Nope! Any of the games I’ve been excited for either never had this sort of event, or else they did but I just got on the bandwagon too late. I’m incredibly behind the times when it comes to keeping up with this sort of thing. T_T

42. A game you will never forget (in a bad OR good way)?Star Ocean 2. That game will stay with me forever. In a good way. :3

43. Favorite sidekick or companion?Ooh, good one! I really liked Eryn from Fairy Fencer F. She’s such a sweetie, and Fang treats her like garbage for most of the game, so I think I was especially drawn to her because he wasn’t.

44. Do graphics matter?They have to be done well, and the style has to fit with the overall style of the game. Other than that, I don’t care. A game isn’t instantly better by having more realistic graphics or whatever, I don’t care.

45. Do you like funny or more serious games?I tend to like more funny games, overall.

46. Always, sometimes, or never use subtitles?Sometimes. It really depends on the game.

47. First person or Third person?Both??? How is this even a question lmao

48. A game you’ve always wanted to play but have never gotten to it?Bastion. I watched a friend play some of it and it looked super cool, and I own it, I’ve just never played it for some reason.

49. A game you haven’t played in forever, but want to replay?Hmm, I kind of want to play Cave Story again. I love that game <3

50. How many games to do you own?I currently have 186 games in my Steam inventory, and counting the various consoles I own it’s probably at least 250.

51. First character you’ve had a crush on?I can’t really think of any right now! I did kind of have a crush on Princess Toadstool in Super Mario RPG, I guess that’s the earliest character I can remember.

52. A game you will always stand behind, and support no matter what?All of the Hyperdimension Neptunia games. I own all 4 of the main series games (Re;Birth 1-3 and VII) and 4 of the spinoff games (Nep U, Hyperdevotion Noire, MegaTagmension, and PP), and I’ve bought more Neptunia merchandise than I have for any other game series.

53. Your most immersive game?Most of the Pokemon games, for me, have been pretty immersive. Like, I take it upon myself to learn everything about them, I keep written notes on lots of stuff, I actively plan out my strategies in advance, etc.

54. A sequel you really want?Hmm, can’t think of too many. Most of my favourite games are series anyway, so they already have sequels. :P

55. How much time, on average, do you play in a week?Hard to say, some weeks I barely play at all, some weeks that’s all I do. I’d say on average, like taking the arithmetic mean, it’d be around an hour a day.

56. Do you tell people irl that you play video games?Oh, for sure. There’s not really a stigma around it anymore since everyone plays video games these days (the whole notion of “gamers are over” and all that).

57. What is an overrated game you’ve played?Basically every MMO I’ve ever played. I just don’t get the appeal.

Ever have someone walk in on a sex scene between you and you LI?I’m going to assume that “LI” stands for “love interest,” like as in the love interest of the main character of a game, otherwise this question makes no sense (even as is it doesn’t make much sense). No, this has never happened. I can’t recall any games I’ve ever played that have had explicit sex scenes. Other than, like… HuniePop or something, but even that’s not really explicit, it’s mostly just moaning. (Unless they released some super-X-rated update or something, I haven’t touched that game in a loooooooong time.)

68. An older game that you’ve just recently gotten into?I honestly can’t think of any! The oldest game I’ve gotten into *recently* is the aforementioned Akiba’s Trip: Undead & Undressed, but that came out in 2014, so I don’t know if it’s old enough for the purposes of this response.

69. Your first LI?…not quite sure what this means. Love interest? Like, first character from a game I fell in love with? First game I played where the main character had a love interest? I honestly don’t know how to answer this one.

70. Do you play any mobile games?A few. Not counting portable consoles (i.e. the 3DS or PS Vita), I have a handful of games on my phone (Sailor Moon Drops, Monument Valley, Mushihimesama, I even have Carmageddon on my phone (yes, they released an iOS port of that game somehow)).

71. A game you can’t stop talking/thinking about at the moment?Well I did just pick up Stardew Valley again, so I’m probably gonna be thinking about that for a while. Same with that Neptunia idol game, I just started playing that and it’s super fun.

73. A game with the best fandom?Overall, my experience has been that Neptunia fans are all pretty awesome. :D

74. Which game has the best lore?I actually love the lore from the Metroid series. The whole history with Samus and the Chozo is so interesting to me.

75. Do you focus on main storyline/quest or do sidequests first?I do both! I’ll play the main storyline until either (1) I need to grind more because the enemies/bosses are getting stronger, (2) I need to get better equipment and need either materials for crafting, or money for buying stuff, or (3) the main story is in a lull and I get an interesting side quest. Usually once I go off on a sidequest tangent, I don’t come back for a good long while (to the point where I’ll stop playing the game for a while and then when I come back to it I’m like “ok wtf was I supposed to be doing? I don’t remember, maybe I’ll just start over again lol”).

because it’s valentine’s day and victor and yuuri are in love! always in love. just especially in love on this day. as usual, my headcanons? all over the place! but i do actually focus on their wedding details because i’m a loser, and i wanted to hop onto the bandwagon and do a thing for…

#victuuriweek (day eight: life and love)

also, i’m pretty sure this is the longest headcanon set i have ever written, and here are the others if you missed them:

i like thinking about their apartment a lot and the fact that they have an entire wall dedicated to friends, family, and at least one picture (or five) of like. every vacation they have ever been to ever.

and for all the pictures they can’t fit, they scrapbook it

pretty sure i’ve made this headcanon before but scrapbooking is just! so much fun! and it’s a more creative way of presenting all these pictures and memories and just? they love? doing things? with each other? it’s just 10x more fun

they have like a little bookshelf in their apartment just dedicated to their scrapbooks, and they love watching the shelf fill up over the years. there’s like two from the wedding, one that was a gift from phichit (because of course he would be the one to give them a scrapbook wedding gift chock-full of pics. he has all the pics) and the other is one they ended up getting put together at the end of the wedding after all the photo booth pics and it’s full of messages from all their friends and family who were in the photo and it’s just. it’s so cute. imagine it

idk about you guys, but all the weddings i’ve been to have those cute little photo booth things you go to with big goofy glasses, sparkly feather boa scarves, sequin hats, and a bunch of other fun stuff

so like. i like to imagine everyone invited just. leaving them so many pics. you got all their ice skating pals hitting up the booth several times, in different groups, just having a ball

and the most fun they have is when they finally end their rounds to every table and head on over to the photo booth to take fun pics with everyone

yuuri and victor literally?? never get tired?? their endless reserve of energy is absolutely connected to how much they love each other

they’re literally doing lifts and posing in the most ridiculous positions with phichit and chris and just!! all their friends!! but everybody is laughing out loud, everybody is dancing and having a blast

they end up with pages and pages and pages full of pics, from the katsuki family to the nikiforov family to their ice skating pals to friends to mentors to everyone!! absolutely everyone. they are all so happy i cannot possibly stress how happy their wedding night will be

okay so like. i just need to have a separate section to talk about their wedding now. i just gotta

you’re talking about a wedding between victor “i flew all of my belongings over from russia to live in an entirely different country to see you” nikiforov and yuuri “lemme just propose to you spur of the moment in this here cathedral in spain among a choir in literally the most romantic ambiance you can think off” katsuki. do u seriously think it won’t be big deal?

but of course, it’s not like it’s gigantic with so many people, but like there is a pre-wedding shoot…. several, but not all pictures made it to the magazines, of course

i am personally a big fan of @jinlian‘s hc about victor’s suit because honestly? agreed. victor’s suit is hideous but he most definitely lost a bet to yuuri for something or another

but who cares? because they had so much fun even though victor was internally screaming from the fashion atrocity he was forced to wear

but it’s only for a little while as a joke because their real suits are the top notch expensive shit

like… you’ve met victor nikiforov. he has nearly $7,000 sunglasses made of 18kt gold, and in the same pic, he’s in a multi-million dollar vintage car…

he also has a very large gold collection… you can’t possibly miss how extra and high maintenance he is come on

and it’s his wedding of all things. he’s not letting himself and yuuri walk down the aisle in drab clothing. who do you think he is

i don’t have any specific pictures in mind, but watch it be idk brioni? heck, bigger, even. alexander amosu suit

i mean…. i barely googled anything but amosu’s vanquish ii bespoke literally has buttons made of 18kt gold and valued at $101,860……. realistically, it’s a bit of a stretch, but….. this is victor nikiforov. this is yuuri katsuki. nothing can ever be a stretch.

of course they have a june wedding and coordinate the flowers and everything because why the heck not

juliet roses? lily of the valley? hydrangeas? peonies? all of it

the press won’t cover their actual wedding day, but they do have a professional camera crew and photographers basically following them around all day

my aunt did this for her wedding and it was the cutest thing so voila now victor and yuuri are doing it

and they play a mini-video at the reception and oh my god i have never seen a room so moved and just. overwhelmed with tears and happiness

i cannot possibly stress enough how much of an impact victor and yuuri’s love has on other people on their wedding night especially. everyone is just so, so happy for them. not to mention that their speeches? a mess

yuuko’s crying… takeshi’s crying…. the triplets are crying but also trying very hard to post pictures of the wedding and reception

but let’s face it… phichit has them beat, only narrowly beating chris and leo by a hair bc they, too, are instagram legends

minako is a very drunk but happy mess she’s just rlly happy for yuuri because!! she literally watched him grow up! she’s essentially a second mother to him!! she was there when he came out, when he had an anxiety attack, when he won his first gold medal! she’s just…. she’s really emotional okay

and oh man….. mari…. hiroko…. toshiya….. they are…. A Mess™ to say the least, but a very happy, crying mess and every time yuuri looks over at them with the biggest, beaming smile on his face, their hearts swell with so much happiness! and love!! it’s just so great seeing him so happy because of victor oh man

yurio…. that kid’s a mess….. he has no idea why he’s crying so much…. but he can’t stay mad or pissed because heck these are the two people who’s helped him grow as a skater, two people he’s looked up to, two people who still treat him with kindness and respect despite him being such an asshole when he first met yuuri…. he’s grown since then, but man….. he can’t imagine not having met the both of them, not having grown because of the two of them, and it just. it really gets to him!

and phichit. oh man. he’s such a happy mess of tears. he’s so happy for his best friend. really. he’s never seen yuuri so happy, and it’s the most precious thing in the whole world. he remembers when he first met yuuri, back in detroit when yuuri was in college and showing up to training everyday. heck, he even stays up late to practice sometimes and just. this is his friend. one of his best friend. someone he really, honestly truly admires and he stays up all night making that scapbook wedding gift because he loves his friend so much

and chris oh man. i like to think that he’s pretty close friends with victor, you know? and they are, i mean episode 10 is proof enough but… they probably had late night thought talks. victor probably shared a bit of his loneliness, wondering if he would find life and love, and chris looks at him now, beaming and standing by his husband’s side and all he can think is how proud he is of victor!! for finding exactly what he was looking for

victor and yuuri rarely spend any time away from each other and can’t stop looking at each other and bursting out laughing because oh! my god! we are married! can’t believe i love you so much! and i’m going to keep falling in love with you! every single day! for the rest of my life!

they literally dance through the night oh it’s so fun and wonderful seeing them together can you just. imagine. the laughter. the beaming smiles. the speeches.

yuuri and victor swear to each other happy, and though they know that there will be plenty of bumps on the road, they still make each other happy. they still love each other

at the end of the day, victor and yuuri decide that it’s all that really matters. and they would never go back to change a single thing

Time Well Spent features show why it’s time to go cold turkey on smartphones all together

I wish I could quit u. Image: vicky leta/mashable Big Tech likes to disrupt. But when it comes to papering over the problems it’s created, it’s happy taking a page out of a well-worn corporate playbook. Over the last month, Google, Apple, and, most recently, Facebook and Instagram, have all unveiled features intended to give people a better understanding of and control over how they use their phones. The features are part of the “Time Well Spent” movement, a phrase popularized in 2017 meant to address concerns about screen addiction, particularly for adolescent development. The idea of the movement, and now its Big Tech-endorsed manifestations, is that through tools to understand and manage use, people can fight addiction and have a sense that the time sucked into the vortex of our smartphones is “well spent.” SEE ALSO: This was the year we turned on social media Sounds great, right? The first step to correcting a behavior is through understanding it, after all. But there’s reason to be skeptical of Facebook’s Time Management, Apple’s Screen Time, and Google’s Digital Wellbeing, too. They’re a solution offered by the people that created the problem in the first place. Why should we embrace an answer presented by organizations for whom a true solution to smart phone addiction — I.E. not using smartphones at all — would put them out of business? We should also be wary because these initiatives look similar to the efforts to combat addiction enacted by Big Tobacco, Big Food, and other industries that create addictive products — namely, light cigarettes and “fat free” food. That similarity, and the impulse to self-police before government regulators step in, links industries that history has deemed harmful, with Big Tech — an industry that likes to think of itself as a global do-gooder. That’s an association we can learn from in order to better judge the tech industry’s volunteered solutions to the problems of its own making. What Time Well Spent features really do is re-frame the screen addiction issue in a way that benefits tech companies, and does not necessarily help tech users. They place the blame for screen addiction on the way people use products, shifting accountability off of the products themselves. It’s not us, it’s you, the initiatives seem to say. In the summer of 2017, former Google employee Tristan Harris started making the media rounds, arguing for the need for a new ethics in technology design: Time Well Spent. He founded his own company called Humane Tech, did a popular Ted Talk, participated in several media features, and spread the gospel about what he was calling a “digital attention crisis”: the intentional creation of addictive products by Google, Facebook, and other tech companies. SEE ALSO: Finally, tech’s elite speak out against Silicon Valley’s unchecked power Then, in the fall, a few impactful articles and studies about the negative effects that smartphones were having on childhood development landed. Not only were smartphones perhaps intentionally addictive, but they were having impacts beyond just adults feeling like they were wasting time: they were making children rampantly more depressed, under-developed, and, ironically, anti-social. Next, in early 2018, the problem went mainstream. Apple shareholders penned a letter to the company asking it to address screen-time addiction. The New York Times published a sweeping take about anxiety-inducing “red dot” notifications. And Tristan Harris reappeared on TV to criticize Facebook directly, calling it a “living, breathing crime scene” — and advocate for his solution, time well spent. The narrative that tech companies weren’t just creating products to “help people” was starting to break through. And, amidst revelations about Russian election meddling and companies like Cambridge Analytica sucking millions’ of peoples’ data, Facebook in particular — but the tech industry as a whole — faced a torrent of negative public opinion, including calls to #DeleteFacebook and create space in our lives away from technology. Facebook was the first to react with an attempt to turn its image around through the time well spent credo. Through a Facebook post from Mark Zuckerberg, it announced plans to re-focus Facebook products on “meaningful” interactions. It in fact directly co-opted the ‘Time Well Spent’ motto for itself, in name as well as in intention. “Facebook has always been about personal connections,” Zuckerberg wrote in a Facebook post. “By focusing on bringing people closer together — whether it’s with family and friends, or around important moments in the world — we can help make sure that Facebook is time well spent.” Next, Instagram confirmed that it was working on some Time Well Spent features, mostly focused on an activity dashboard to see how much you use the app. We’re building tools that will help the IG community know more about the time they spend on Instagram – any time should be positive and intentional. — Kevin S. (@kevin) May 16, 2018 Then, during developer conference season, Google and then Apple both unveiled new tools to both understand and manage time spent on iPhone and Android. Google’s “digital wellbeing” and Apple’s “screen time” both offer an activity dashboard, as well as app time limits and more robust do not disturb modes. Finally, Facebook announced on August 1 that it would roll out a suite of tools called “Time Management” as an extension of its time well spent directive. With Time Management, Facebook and Instagram users can see how much time they’re spending in the apps per week (though not week over week), can mute notifications for up to eight hours at a time, and can set notifications to pop up when they’ve reached the amount of time they decide they want to spend in the app. Facebook representative Gretchen Sloan said that Facebook does not have a formal relationship with Harris’ Center for Humane Technology, but acknowledges the connection as an industry movement. “We are incredibly invested in ensuring people have a healthy relationship with technology, so I think we all share a similar goal,” Sloan said. People have already started using the features, some aghast at how much they pick up their phones, some — like Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey — embracing the feature. “They want you to like your device, they want you to be in a long term relationship with it,” Nir Eyal, a behavioral design expert, said. “The natural market response is we can make this better.” This is a great feature. Over the course of several years, health officials begin warning the public about the potential dangers of a product. Next, lawmakers start bringing up the issue in Congress. Then, the industries unveil a solution to the burgeoning problem. See, they say, we can change the product to address these “concerns.” Not to worry! We care about our customers! Even with not strictly addictive products, there is a long history of industries changing their products or behavior when the public gets wind of a problem. Sometimes, this genuinely benefits consumers and makes products safer or better. But other times, it is a stopgap measure, implemented to maintain profits and avoid external consequences like regulation, that doesn’t actually improve the underlying problem, and can even make it worse. The most nefarious example of this tactic is light cigarettes. In the 1960’s cigarette companies decided to go on the offensive in response to reports that cigarettes caused cancer. They came out with “light” cigarettes, which lowered the amount of cancer-causing tar — along with the nicotine content. But smokers who opted for light cigarettes just ended up smoking more to compensate for the lowered hit of tobacco. Or, users would cover filtering holes, so they’d end up sucking more (just different) toxic chemicals into their lungs. Light cigarettes were an attempt to supposedly empower smokers to use the product more healthfully. That appeased concerns in the short term, but didn’t actually stop addiction or its consequences. Congress ultimately banned light cigarettes in 2010. University of Michigan Professor Ken Warner has studied the Big Tobacco playbook, and how Big Food borrowed from it when it faced a health PR crisis of its own. Big Food followed Big Tobacco’s lead in the 1980s once health experts and then lawmakers started realizing that red blooded Americans were getting red blooded heart disease thanks to all the fatty foods they were eating. Voila, the food industry unveiled “low fat,” “fat free,” and sugar free products. But now, studies show that the popular diet foods of the ’80s and ’90s actually caused weight gain by both making people eat more, and by introducing calorie-free, artificial ingredients that actually mess with the way we digest food, and can even cause cancer. Light cigarettes and diet food are part of a legacy of preemptive self-regulating, according to Warner. That includes the auto industry with seatbelts, the health industry with insurance premiums, and most recently, with Juul’s attempt to discourage youth vaping. “There are lots of examples like this of industries trying to voluntarily either regulate themselves or discourage abusive use of their products,” Warner said. “Frequently, there’s reason to be skeptical.” This pattern does not necessarily work against consumers. But we shouldn’t forget the history of light cigarettes on one hand, and seatbelts on the other, before we embrace Time Well Spent. Healthy Skepticism Light cigarettes, diet food, and seatbelts have some suspect similarities, but also crucial differences, with tech companies’ Time Well Spent features. First, these new features and products are all presented by the companies that created the societal problem. In these instances, being skeptical with regard to the source of the solution is important, because the source determines the motivations behind the creation of that solution — and that’s where things get a little trickier. One simple and overarching motivation for all of these products, is the need to maintain profits. Marlboro, Ford, and certainly Facebook, all have an interest in keeping their customers using their products — even if that means encouraging people, for some time, to use their products less. “Their motivation is in a backwards kind of way to maintain profit by trying to avoid more strict regulation or intervention by others,” Dr. Warner said. “They may take a short term hit on their bottom line, in order to maintain long-term customer retention.” Facebook addressed the question of how Time Management will impact its business in similar, but softer, terms. Facebook sees keeping people engaged, rather than passively scrolling, as good for its bottom line. “In terms of the business, engagement is a great metric for us, and when people are passively scrolling, that’s not good for us either,” Sloan said. “We want people’s time to be intentional and meaningful — that’s actually good for the business.” But social media companies would be loathe to put themselves in the same category as the makers of addictive products. That’s because there is a perception seemingly within — and certainly outward facing — that they want their companies to be good for the world. “They think of themselves as good guys,” Dr. Warner said. “A campaign like this may be somewhat well-motivated to preserve that image. We are interested in you, we’re interested in protecting you, we want to protect the broader society, and so on.” Tech companies maintain that they truly care about their users. Google told Mashable over email that it tries to listen to the concerns of its users, and created its digital wellbeing tools in response to the 70 percent of Android users it spoke with who want to find a better balance with their phones. When asked about the impetus for digital wellbeing in response to screen time addiction, Google stressed that it takes very seriously what it sees as its responsibility to improve people’s lives. Apple has also stressed that it wants Screen Time to empower its users, and both Facebook and Instagram (via founder Kevin Roose) echoed that sentiment. “These tools are the first step in understanding how people better want to use and find a balance with technology,” David Ginsberg, Facebook’s head of research, said. “The goal here is giving people the power to better manage their time, and then allowing them to decide for themselves.” Understanding how time online impacts people is important, and it’s the responsibility of all companies to be honest about this. (@kevin) May 16, 2018 So it’s likely that Time Well Spent features can both improve the bottom line and retain cagey customers, while also even perhaps being driven by what the tech industry says is good intention. “What happens is if you overdo it and you burn people out, they dial back and they quit altogether,” Nir Eyal said. “It behooves any product maker to make sure they think in the long term, to enable people to find value in the product for a long time.” Even if tech companies have possibly rosier-tinted intentions than the addiction-reliant tobacco industry, its Time Well Spent features have more in common with light cigarettes and diet food than just source and motivation. Just as diet food and light cigarettes caused people to eat and smoke more, respectively, it’s entirely possible that checking your activity dashboard could become an addictive smartphone habit in its own right. Especially for stats-lovers, it’s easy to see how counting what you do on your smart phone just becomes another thing you can’t stop doing. Then there’s the question of why tech companies chose the options of an activity dashboard, and timers. Mashable reached out to Google, Facebook, Apple, and Instagram, and asked whether and what research these companies conducted or consulted that showed that Time Well Spent features, including activity dashboards, would actually reduce time spent on smartphones. Google and Apple declined to comment. Facebook said that it worked very closely with researchers to learn how social media can improve wellbeing, but has yet to cite, nor did it conduct, specific research showing that time well spent features have a proven ability to impact behavior. This apparent lack of sound research into the tactics presented to fight a problem mirrors the insufficient scientific work by both the tobacco and food industries, who created solutions that actually made their problems worse. Yet the way that Time Well Spent diverges from light cigarettes and diet food may actually be the biggest indictment of all. In the case of food and tobacco, these companies changed their products to be “healthier.” The time well spent features tweak the products, but don’t fundamentally change the smartphone. Instead, these tools come with the expectation — presented as an opportunity for empowerment — that it’s up to the users to change their behavior; the onus is not on the products themselves. Time Well Spent features turn the tables on the problem of screen time addiction. Providing “helpful tools” to let people have supposedly healthier relationships with their phones actually works to absolve the tech industries of blame for creating an addictive product. These tools send the message that the problem is not the addictive product itself — it’s the fact that you, human, get addicted. But there’s no need to go cold turkey, of course — here’s a suite of stats and reminders to have a “healthy relationship” with your time-sucking pocket robot, because we’re here to help. As Nir Eyal pointed out, technology has changed the world, and maybe for the better. And, naturally, anything that changes the world does take some time to get right. “For the first time in human history, we have an abundance of calories and entertainment,” Eyal said. “I don’t know anybody who wants to go back. I think we all would much prefer an age where we can create enough food for everyone. The same thing happens with our technology. We want to be connected to people. But that also learns that we have to moderate our use sometimes.” And, it’s true that light cigarettes may not be a perfect metaphor for Time Well Spent features, primarily because we don’t know yet that they’ll actually cause harm — beyond maybe keeping some people who were considering quitting hooked up to the matrix. “I think a better analogy for the tech initiative is fast food restaurants’ publishing of nutritional information on their menus,” Prof. Greta Hsu, who has studied cigarette industry marketing, said. “In both cases, I don’t believe there is reason to assume or expect deception. However, it’s not clear either will impact consumer behavior.” But… what if we were able to go cold turkey? I’m not sure if I buy the tech industry’s narrative that social media and smart phones have made the world a better place; the ability to instantly connect is not necessarily a gift. That skeptical and concerned counter-story is the one that was starting to get told — and increasingly spread — before Time Well Spent came along to place the tech industry on our side. What if social media and smart phones have made the world a worse place? If we can acknowledge that no timer, no dashboard, no reminder to breathe or stand, could make the use of a smartphone “healthy,” going cold turkey doesn’t sound unreasonable. Maybe, we shouldn’t just cut down to one cigarette a day, even — but throw out the whole damn pack. Unlike cigarettes, smartphones and Time Well Spent features won’t kill us. But in our democracy, our social lives, our senses of selves, and our souls, smartphones just might be the death of us. So maybe we should quit, and not just cut back, if we still can.
