Ahhh, I'm so glad you enjoyed the story - your art is absolutely beautiful! Stunning! I'm holding it gently in my hands. <3 You managed to capture two very meaningful moments with both of Grian's important people. Their expressions are perfect - I love Scar's wide eyes in the first one, and Grian's expression in the second, with his eyes closed and his eyebrows lightly furrowed. Hii I’m here after re-reading your little mermaid inspired scarian fic because it’s one of my favorites. Anyways in your end notes you asked what other fairytale we’d like to see and I wanted to stop by to recommend maybe beauty and the beast or rapunzel perchance, if you ever decide to do another

I'm glad you liked 'somewhere between the surface and the seabed!' It was so fun to write, I have a soft spot for writing stories where the main characters become something inhumane. I just find it really fun to consider what their lives would be like, with different instincts, different cultures, different bodies... I really need to explore the concept more, haha. Beauty and the Beast has been recommended before - I remember debating between eldritch monster "beast" Grian, or ex-fae turned vex "beast" Scar... I am still leaning more towards Scar being the beast, and saving eldritch Grian for something else. I do think it would be a really cute and fun AU for them. Rapunzel is a new one, though. I really loved the movie Tangled. Honestly, I feel like it would feel a bit similar to 'my ever after / is holding you,' just because my go-to thought is for the watchers to be the ones who kidnapped our Rapunzel!Grian to lock him away. Scar would make SUCH a good Flynn Rider though... And it would also be extremely cute... Thank you for the ideas! I do still want to write at least one more fairy tale AU for these two silly Minecraft men, and it's nice to hear what people would be interested in reading.

okay here we go, a bunch of hermitcraft/life series fics (i'll add little desciptions):

Solving Counting Sheep (link): This is actually an evo fic, but it's all hermitcraft/life series people, and it all makes sense even without watching evo. absolutely awesome fic, me and my friend go feral over it. Angst, identity crisises, gender affirmation, the works. follows a certain pesky bird who's been brainwashed into a murder-weapon that is stolen by martyn.

Riddles of Natural Selection (link): epic renchanting fic. I cried, and just generally felt comforted afterwards. It follows king ren, who knows his kingdom is plotting to overthrow him, and has accepted his fate, until a mysterious creature called martyn lands on his shores...

Only Human (link): Insane Impulse angst. this is actually the second part of a series, but I've only read this one (no doubt the others are just as good). It's the famous boatem knights au, which you may or may not had heard of. Excellent story telling, following Impulse who feels inferior to his friends, who have magical abilities, while he's only human. Until he finds a possessed book, that is.

Finalities Fault (link): ranchers fic. Tango is in a remote area monitoring a deadly mist, and he gets an android called "jimmy" to help in his endevours. However, Jimmy turns out to not be quite as artificial as he was meant to be...

Scott Smajor On: Surviving (link): Scott and Pearl are reporters sent to a new city to report on the war between "reds" and "greens". Unfortunetly, they get a little too tangled in the story.

Enough to make the angels weep (link): dead dove do not eat style joel angst, but hoooo boy is it good. Joel gets captured by hybrid hunters, and gets sold to a rich man, who also happens to own a certain angel.

Somewhere between the surface and the seabed: (link) think the little mermaid with grian, mumbo and scar. Grian's a mermaid, Scar's a sea witch, and Mumbo is the helpless prince lost at sea... however, he's not quite the main love interest.

Respawn Denied (this is shameless self promoting, ngl, I wrote this) (link): Tango and Jimmy are respawners, a special kind of magic that allows you to live again and again. Unfortunetly, this also makes them hot property for The Circle, an organisation currently hunting them down for reasons unknown to anyone.

Ahh thank you so much! Those one shots always get so out of control haha. I really want to do at least one more “fairy tale” based one shot. I feel like having three would round them off well, I just need to settle on what fairy tale, and find the time to write it. obsessed with ur scarian mer au fanfic.. it was so good and i love the subtle world building u used. ur scar characterization was so amazing as well. it slapped so hard and mumbo was such a funny edition, it was such a refreshing take on little mermaid aus

Thank you so much! The mer au was so much fun to write, it got very out of control lol. The world building mostly happened without my permission - the same thing happened with my other fairytale fic, too! Every time I try to write a short, simple AU, they just spiral from there. I love it.

I’m glad you liked Mumbo, it was my first time writing his character and I really enjoyed it.

I do want to write more fairytale AUs at some point in the future. I just have so much fun with them :)

Scarian royalty AU where the humans and hybrids have spent eons at war with each other and they're now trying to push for a peace treaty. Grian, an avian, is one of the hybrids sent to the human kingdom to help with the peace treaty since he became very well-known throughout the war, and his presence there will show how seriously the hybrids are taking this. Even Grian, who hates all types of oppression and cooked up more and more chaotic plans of attack during the war, wants this peace treaty to go well, see! While in the human kingdom, Grian meets Scar, one of the princes. Grian is determined to dislike humans, even if he agrees that peace is best for both sides, but he doesn't manage to maintain that position for very long after meeting Scar - who is charismatic, dragging Grian into trouble at every turn, and makes Grian laugh harder than he's laughed in a long time. Naturally, Grian develops a massive crush and decides to court Scar. Only, courting is very different depending on different species... so, Scar doesn't seem to realize what Grian's intentions as he tries out different avian methods - what do you mean "thank you, this is a nice gift?" it's one of Grian's FEATHERS from his WING why don't you UNDERSTAND - so, he realizes he needs to learn about human courting methods... Grian, constantly trying out different "human courting methods," and for some reason, none of them seem to get his point across either! Meanwhile, he keeps developing his feelings for Scar, becoming increasingly desperate to make Scar realize (and return) his feelings before this trip can end. Not sure how the confession finally takes place - something sufficiently dramatic and messy, that has both courts wringing their hands, stressed out of their minds. As Grian is complaining about how neither his avian or human methods worked, really Scar, how oblivious can you be, even if you couldn't recognize avian methods you should have been able to recognize the methods of your own species - "Ah, but, I'm not a human?" What? Yeah, turns out Scar is adopted! He's actually a vex hybrid! The reason the royal family started pushing so hard for this peace treaty all of a sudden is that the newest generation, after taking in and raising a hybrid, is way less biased than the last generations and only wants the best for their adopted prince. Scar's been trying to court Grian with vex methods this entire time, too, fyi. Grian doesn't know if he wants to laugh, or maybe scream for a while. Probably both. But, hey, at least this could be a very politically advantageous marriage, right? What better way is there for the two opposing sides to show their commitment to the cause? I guess they have to get married now. There's just no other choice.

Still working on the scarian mermay fic! I could have written a cute 2k one shot, but this thing has made it to 18k and it’s still going, hence why I’m posting it at the end of the month instead of the beginning. :’) It’s gone out of control!  So, here’s a sneak peek of Grian trying (and... failing(?)) to romance Scar: “Scar. This isn’t funny.” “G,” Scar managed to say after a moment, laughing so hard he was struggling to speak, “this is hilarious. How did you even come up with this?” It had been difficult to figure out what Grian could cook for Scar. It’s not like mers often cooked their food in the first place; they found fish, or clams, or whatever they were in the mood for, and then they ate them raw. There was no combining of ingredients like humans did, no fires to warm their food underwater. So Grian had been forced to get creative. Maybe a bit too creative. He had gathered up as many ingredients as he could think of, hopeful that Mumbo would know some way to combine them together. It turned out, Mumbo had never cooked a single day in his life either. Which seemed impossible at first, since he was a servant in the castle, but maybe he never worked in the kitchens? “I spent a lot of time working on this,” Grian huffed, rolling his eyes, “I would appreciate a thank you!” Scar was finally started to calm down, straightening a bit and wiping at his cheeks. He was still smiling widely, tentacles flicking a few times to showcase his amusement and joy. “Thank you,” he dutifully replied. “I appreciate the thought! It means a lot to be that you went through all this effort to make… something… for me.” Scar trailed off at the end, beginning to giggle again as he eyed the meal Grian had prepared. Grian followed his gaze, and against his best efforts, his own shoulders started to shake as well as his lips curled up into a fanged smile. What he had ended up giving Scar was a lumpy, misshapen concoction that resembled a cross between a fish and a tangled mass of seaweed. It emitted an unusual odor, a combination of burnt seaweed and an overly pungent spice Mumbo had suggested they add.

I loved your mermaid scarian fic so much! Also super loved the cinderella inspired fic too, it's iconic and a classic to me. If you wanted to keep doing fairytale inspired aus, I've always thought beauty and the beast would be a good fit! Regardless, I'm excited to see what else you write! <3

Ohhh, that would be a good fit indeed… who should be the beauty and who should be the beast?

On one hand, I like the idea of Grian turning into an eldritch monster with too many wings and too many eyes… but on the other hand, Scar being an elegant fae who got a little bit too full of himself and was turned into something more vex like could be fun too. I’m also more used to writing from Grian’s POV; so should I write Grian as the beauty and stick to what I know, or write him as the beast and try out some Scar POV?

So many things to consider!
