Your favorite OC?
UR ASKING ME TO CHOOSE A FAVOURITE CHILD........................ but right now the one taking up the most of my headspace is probably eglantine
Tumblr media
(art by @rukafais!)
like most of my OCs. it's an absolute freak <3
She started life as an orphan who was basically swiped off the streets of Chantphare (an empire associated with Spring) to be handed over to the Court Mage, a springblighted immortal who's been stuck serving the royal family for centuries (and who is also my pal @astrabysm's freak). The intent is for the mage to forge Eglantine into a 'sword' to be wielded by the royal family and they succeed - Eglantine turns out exceptionally deadly and exceptionally bloodthirsty, happy and willing to conceptualize itself as a living weapon rather than a flesh and blood human.
It eventually gets shipped off to be the doting little pet wife of a Chantphare war hero who tries to overbearingly 'fix' it and help it 'heal' and 'become a real woman again' and all that kind of shit. Eglantine, who actually kind of digs all the murder and sword stuff, basically puts up with it for like six months before finally losing her patient and just decapitating the guy and going on the run... that's pretty much where I leave its story open for RP purposes LOL.
Even though it's so battlebrained, it's not like a raging berserker or anything - it genuinely enjoys fighting and killing but she's also not interested in senselessly killing for killing's sake unless the benefits outweigh the potential consequences. It was forged to be able to pass as a noble lady in moment to moment conversation, so it mostly comes off as kind of brusque but reasonably friendly and unassuming, if a little blunt and overly direct.
It's also not afraid of death or pain in any real meaningful way. Some of this is arrogance, some of it is because it's springblighted by proxy - the court mage implanted it with spring magic to make it sturdier and Eglantine's trained itself to the point that it can basically heal any injury inflicted on her body so long as it's not an instakill, though she'll be fatigued or even entirely out cold afterwards depending on the severity.
But mostly, it's because Eglantine is basically Winter's special little guy LMAO. The two of them kept encountering each other without Eglantine being aware of who it was talking to but even when it did realize, it was never afraid of her so Winter immediately glommed onto her as one of the few mortals who will tolerate her presence. She and Eglantine are in toxic yuris with each other <3 But Eglantine and Than (the mage) ALSO have a weird ass Something going on that is not quite platonic and not quite romantic but extremely intense and all consuming, so they're a lovely little nightmare blunt rotation OT3 of freaks.

really interested about the goddesses in your fantasy world! its a really fascinating take on favours, so do people ever actually seek them out like a faustian bargain type of thing or are they mostly avoided?
Depends on which goddess! Since they all have different domains of magic, you might call upon a certain one of them to solve a certain issue. For example, part of Winter's domain is precognition and inevitability so someone might call on her for a vision of the future, that kind of thing. But it also comes down to each of their personalities, too.
Spring is the one who's most well known for it because she hands out boons pretty willy nilly but they're so destructive that most people don't actively seek her out unless they're REALLY desperate... tho of course there's the occasional idiot who's all "surely this leopard won't eat MY face about it". It also doesn't help that Spring tends to just sort of drop gifts and boons on people she likes without even being asked and that combined with the fact that her face changes so often means that there's a lot of people who've been springblighted just entirely by chance because they didn't realize what she was.
Summer is the one who's most actively sought out because she's the goddess whose domain encompasses technical innovation and her blessings can allow people to create insane technological marvels way beyond what's possible without her help and there's a whole city state (Fusocuore) that's basically constructed itself around the technology powered by her blessings. BUT because she's so fickle and curious, Summer constantly wants to see new novelty and new inventions and she'll only grant boons to someone if their ideas interest her, so it's getting harder and harder to get them...
Fall is so completely alien that her boons come in the form of communing with certain mortals, but her presence does all sorts of horrible things to their minds and bodies. So people generally don't remember the process of receiving a boon from her, only that it happened and they're Different now. Definitely pretty high risk.
As for Winter, even tho I used her as an example up there, people mostly don't ask her for anything LOL. Since her domain is also death, people tend to think of her boons as curses and don't want to draw her attention which is a big part of why she's so terribly lonely. Generally, people only call on Winter if they think death is a preferable outcome to wtfever problem they're currently having.

I've noticed you reblogging a few post with the tags #Eidolon and #inspo, mostly fancy dresses. Do you want to talk about that? Are you playing the RPG of the same name, or is there some other Eidolon you'd need inspiration for?
Eidolon is the name of a little homebrew fantasy setting of mine! It's mostly just for me to give a bunch of homeless fantasy OCs an actual consistent setting to originate from but lately me and some pals have been playing around with the setting and characters like barbie dolls <3
The TL;DR is that Eidolon is a fantasy world with a sort of real life mythology kitchen sink vibe - most of the countries and cultures are fantasy/fictionalized versions of real world historical places, that kind of thing. Everything and everyone in Eidolon can use magic, through manipulating prana which is the Essence of existence/creation that permeates everything. Prana is channeled through the perispirit which is basically just the spiritual goo that binds body, soul and magic together and if it's damaged or corrupted, it can cause major issues with all of the above.
Eidolon is ruled by four sister goddesses who all represent/rule over one of the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter. All magic falls under one of their domains;
Spring magic is nature, cycles, time magic, growth, healing and rebirth.
Summer magic is oceans, electricity, metal, emotions, and technological progress.
Fall magic is fire, harvests, alchemy, illusions, and transformations, transitions, liminal states
Winter magic is death, cold, certainty, and precognition
All the goddesses are VERY inhuman and receiving their favour even if only in passing tends to go very badly for the people who are unlucky enough <3 Spring in particular is infamous for giving out boons that basically ruin your life in practice, to the point that being given a gift by her is colloquially known as being 'springblighted'.
THAT'S THE BASICS, ANYWAY... I have the whole thing pretty fleshed out in my head and I could ramble about it 5ever lol. But my Eidolon tag is also just a catchall for inspo for all my characters in that setting so me saving fancy dresses is basically just me putting pretty outfits in a wardrobe to play dress up with my little guys later down the line.
