I already talked about how I think squips' personalities get generated based on the users', and I have another thought specifically about Broadway!SQUIP. You know how you can clearly see that it's constantly analysing everything around it? I like to think it's being so obvious for Jeremy's benefit. Because it doesn't actually need to react visually at all while running those backgrounds checks, it doesn't have to waste processing power to render all the body language and facial expressions unless it's communicating with its user. So I think it's doing all of that to put Jeremy at ease. Because constant analysis means more information, and more information means more possible ways to interact, and more ways to interact mean less social anxiety. So if Jeremy sees the SQUIP gathering information, he'll feel calmer

On a whim, I just listened to all of Be More Chill for the first time, and I was gonna just make a quick post with some thoughts on it, but then I got to The Pitiful Children, and it started to sink in for me how terrifying the concept of a squip is, and how we're not that far off from possibly inventing technology like that. Like, I never listened to the full thing back when it was popular, so I didn't even really know what the plot was. But I'm sure that the idea of a squip was kind of humorous back then, when the musical was brand new and we were all much younger. Except now it's terrifying. We would absolutely be stupid enough, as a species, to make a nanotechnology that implants itself in your brain and controls you, AND we'd be stupid enough to let it take over every single person's mind on the planet.
