A/N:  Based off of THIS PROMPT by @liz-allyn!
****IMPORTANT NOTE:  So, for this I decided to mix characters. Reader is the Stark!Reader with quake powers in my Stark!Verse, mixed with TASM!Peter Parker. So, I’m basically now making a little multiverse within my own stories? So. I guess we can call it the Crumble!Verse lmao I’m sorry. ****
Pairings/Characters: Peter Parker x Reader (Andrew Garfield’s Peter)
Warnings: Swearing, graphic depictions of violence, end fluff
Summary:  Based on THIS PROMPT: Spider-Man is missing - kidnapped by a mob of ruthless enemies.
This is definitely post-college, adult Spider-Man

You and Spider-Man were so, so careful. Your jobs made having a life a little difficult. However, they made having a romantic life extremely difficult, but you both had your ways around it. While you couldn’t scream your love from the rooftops publicly, you were able to share your love with your close, private circle of friends and family. You didn’t even have each other’s names in your phones. Peter’s name for you was, “My Love <3.” Your name for him was something along the lines of, “BoyToy3000.”
No one said they had to make sense.

The One With the Sex in the Gym
A/N: This is a prequel series to my Stark!Readerverse series. Those are all my stories that start with “A” and have some other shit following it.
Masterlist
Stark!Verse Masterlist
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Stark!Reader,; [[Pre Shang-Chi x Stark!Reader]] Tony Stark x Daughter!Reader
Warnings: swearing, sexual themes, minors DNI, tony losing his mind, steve proving he is just a little shit from brooklyn
Summary:  Tony has been insufferable to deal with. As such, Steve feels it’s time to teach him a little lesson when it comes to your relationship.
Tumblr media
Tony Stark was a lot of things. The man was a genius ,billionaire, playboy, philanthropist, and according to some in the Tower, he was also an absolute overbearing and overprotective mess of a man. Well, at least according to some people. Apparently, since the rest of the team moved in after the events in D.C., Tony was seen as an overbearing, doting, nosy, invasive individual.
Sure, maybe he crashed one-too-many dinner dates between Y/N and Steve.
Yes, perhaps he did throw open her bedroom door a few times to make sure that they were decent and say that he was not hosting a brothel.
Okay, maybe he followed them to the movies but that was only one time.
Fine, the people that said he was too overbearing happened to be his own daughter and her boyfriend, but he had valid reasons. I mean, he was her father, right? This was his job to protect his little girl. Besides, how much did they really even know about the super soldier anatomy? Not enough, probably. Who knows what Steve was capable of? He could accidentally kill Tony’s kid, for all he knew or worse, get her pregnant and force a shotgun wedding to a man old enough to have seen the invention of sliced bread…….
Was he that old? Eh, who cares.
Well, Tony cares, but that’s about it.
So, on one of his many daily missions of finding out what his kid and her geriatric boyfriend were up to, Tony found himself navigating the tower. They weren’t in either of their rooms, nor the living room, the lab, nowhere. Everywhere he happened to look was a dead-end, so Tony had to rely on the work of Jarvis to spy on his kid.
“Sir, the two are currently in the gym.”
“The gym?” Tony raised an eyebrow as he set down his smoothie. “Cap trains in the mornings.”
“I’m aware, sir.”
“Y/N has to be dragged to the gym for combat training.”
“I’m also aware of this, sir.”
“Oh, god. They can’t defile the gym, those stains will never come out!”
“I’m curious to know what you think is exactly in super soldier sperm that it wouldn’t —“
“Ah, don’t say sperm!” Tony shouted as he leapt up from his seat and made his way to the gym. “That’s a hex upon this household, Jarvis, you know that.”
Jarvis would have sighed deeply if he thought it would help Tony to register how ridiculous this was, “Sir, need I remind you of the many conquests of yours I’ve witnessed and had to order particular cleanings for?”
“No.”
“Very well, sir.”
Tony was approaching the gym and he was horrified. He could hear a deep guttural groan and it made the hair on the back of his neck stand up.
“Oh, fuck, Steve! Right there.”
That son of a bitch.
“Yes, yes, yes, don’t stop.”
Tony wanted to die. Next, he heard a sharp squeal and an intake of air that made his heart drop to his ass. He quickly looked through the gym doors but could only see you, laying on a yoga mat, hands white-knuckling it as you lay on your stomach with a pained look on your face.
“Steve, you’re too deep! Stop, stop!”
“Come on, doll, if you want it to get better, you’ve gotta take it as deep as I can get.”
Tony Stark was officially going to kill Steve Rogers.
“Get off my daughter you wretched, geriatric, overage, disgusting old pervert!” Tony shouted as he threw open the gym doors and ran inside.
However, when he ran inside, he skidded to a halt. You were laying comfortably on your stomach and staring at him in surprise. You were also fully clothed, which he was surprised, given the sounds he heard and the fact he couldn’t see your bottom half from outside.
Behind you, Steve was sitting on a chair. Your knee was bent, your foot up in the air in front of Steve’s lap. The man’s thumb was pressing into your heel while his other hand held your ankle in place. Steve gave Tony a blank stare while your father stared right back at the two of you, red in the face, vein pulsating on his neck.
“What the hell is this,” he seethed.
“Doc said I have plantar fasciitis, so he’s murdering my heel for me,” you explained. “What did you think we were doing?”
Tony’s jaw tightened, “Nothing. Nothing at all.”
“Really?” Steve raised an eyebrow. “Sounds like you thought we were fonduing.”
Tony pointed a finger at him, “Don’t you dare make a funny right now. You have no right.”
You rolled your eyes, “You know, dad, we do have sex.”
“Stop it, Y/N.”
“It’s pretty crazy. With that strength of his, he can just hold me in the air and —“
“Enough — “
“I mean, gosh, I —“
“She’s kidding, Tony,” Steve said quickly. “I respect her too much to do such intimate acts in a public setting.”
“Good, good. As you should, you old fart,” Tony nodded and scratched the back of his head. “Well, I’m glad we got that settled. I will be in the lab if you need me.”
He left feeling more uncomfortable than he ever had in his entire life. Once he was gone, you two laughed uncontrollably. Steve held his side as you let your face fall to the mat and laugh. Eventually, you rolled onto your back and held your hands up. Steve leaned over, pulled you up, and sat you down right on his lap.
“I think he’ll leave us alone now, don’t you?” He hummed as he kissed your neck softly.
You snickered, “You are such a little shithead, Steve. I love it. Yeah, he’ll definitely give us some space. Which is good, I have a plan.”
“Oh? What’s that?”
“He has a really beautiful red car I’ve always wanted to have a little fun in.”
Steve blushed, the tips of his ears turning red, “Doll, I meant it when I said — “
“Yes, yes I know. You’re so very respectful and a gentleman, but you have my full permission to defile me in my dad’s car.”
“Is this a late-stage act of rebellion?”
You blinked twice, “Yes.”
He sighed and shook his head, “Doll —“
“What? I’ve always wanted to do it in a car! Haven’t you? He’ll stay far away from us now because he’s traumatized. It’ll be fun,” you sang as you draped your arms around his shoulders. “Can really get that car rocking.”
He shook his head as he studied you, “You’re devious, Ms. Stark.”
You beamed, “That I am, Steve, that I am.”

A Very Stark Thanksgiving
A/N: IT’S A HOLIDAY SPECIAL, BITCHES
Okay. So this is in my Stark!ReaderVerse! Feedback, as awlays, extremely appreciated and desired.
TAG LIST NOTES:  I have no idea how to efficiently make a tag lists and am lazy as shit, so I would recommend post notifications just bc i’m, well,…tired lazy person
Pairings/Characters: Shang-Chi x Stark!Reader, mentions: Bucky Barnes, Clint Barton, Pepper Potts, Katy Chen, Xialing Xu, Steve Rogers, just about everyone.
Warnings: fluff/crack drabble? I don’t know how to categorize it. swears.
Summary: It’s a Thanksgiving Holiday Special as Avengers and their families congregate at the new East Coast facility to share in the love, with a special surprise at the end.
WC: 4,891
Tumblr media
“No,” you sighed, rubbing the temples on your forehead “No. Just, no.”
“Please?” you heard Morgan’s voice over the phone and it made you want to fall out of your chair in guilt. “Please?”
“Morgan, that’s not fair.”
“Well, duh,” Morgan answered. “But if you come over for Thanksgiving, we can be together. Don’t you want to be together?”
You gritted your teeth, “I hate you so much you demon little child.”
You could hear Pepper snort over Morgan’s maniacal giggling, “So, you’re coming?”
“Yes,” you sighed dramatically. “Fine. Fine, I’ll be at the dumb compound for dumb Thanksgiving. I thought it was only going to be us at the house, by the way.”
“It was, at first,” Pepper began. “But with everything going on with everyone, I thought it would be nice to get everyone together.”
You sighed dramatically. Spinning around in your chair, you looked at the monitors to see Shangqi using the training facility in the new West Coast Avengers towers.
“I guess I won’t have to skip tonight’s flight, then.”
“Good, good. And about Steve — “
“Does he have anyone he can even go to?” You asked, already regretting the question.
Pepper sighed, “I wanted to know how you felt about him being there before I asked Wednesday to just lock him in his room the entire time.”
You sighed heavily, “He’s stupid and I hate him. But, ugh, that’s just….that’s fucking depressing. Fine. I’ll allow his presence there.”
“That’s big of you, sweetheart. I’m proud. And Shangqi is still coming, right?” Pepper asked.
You watched Shangqi practicing against the dummy and sighed, “Yeah, yeah. He’s excited. He said he’s been training for Morgan’s robot dragon fights.”
“And we will be victorious for the land of Das’Morganthia,” Morgan chimed in quickly.
You blinked, “What the fuck did that child name her imaginary land?”
Pepper chuckled, “I don’t ask questions about her naming strategies. It changes by the day. Your car will be at the airport for you. I love you. We’ll see you tonight.”
You hung up the phone and leaned over to press the red button to activate the intercom system, “Hey Bus Boy.”
He groaned, “I hate that name!”
“But I love it,” you grinned. “Change of plans. Dinner’s at the compound.”
“Why?”
“Pepper thought after everything that’s been going on that we should all be together. Which is fair, and nice, I suppose. I tried to get us out of it.”
Shangqi hummed. He crossed his arms over his chest and glanced up at you through the observation window, “You want to avoid Steve, don’t you?”
You shifted in your seat, “I just don’t feel like hearing him say, ‘Here, doll, I buttered your roll just how you like it.’”
“Ew, babe.”
“Sorry.” You cleared your throat, “Do you want to skip?”
“No, no. It’ll be fine,” Shangqi said. “Besides, I still have to fight dragons with Morgan. I can’t miss that.”
You smiled softly, “Then go shower, Bus Boy. We’ve gotta head to the airport.”
~*~
When you two approached the compound, you could see the various vehicles parked outside and you knew you guys were some of the last to arrive. You felt fingers dancing on your arm before a hand slipped into yours, and you glanced over to see Shangqi smiling.
“It’s going to be fine. I doubt Steve’s going to try to win you over during the holiday.”
“You’d be surprised how stubborn and determined Steve is,” you remarked.
Shangqi snickered. Shaking his head, he brought your hand up to his mouth and kissed the top of it, “Well, something tells me it’ll be really special, regardless.”
You laughed, “It’s just Thanksgiving. Come on, let’s get inside. I’m on dessert duty.”
“I feel like you’re always on dessert duty.”
You shrugged, “No one can be trusted but me. They have no patience for the process, they just want to eat it all. The monsters. I ever tell you about my dad and brownies?”
Shangqi smiled brightly as he grabbed your lug from the car. You’d been more open recently, and he’d been falling more in love with you. You openly told him stories of the past, now, and even more about your dad, even a few about your mom. He was enjoying this.
“I don’t think so.”
“Well, let me regale you, handsome,” you said as you grabbed one of the bags and walked in with him. “One time, I made brownies for when the team came back from taking down a Hydra base. I didn’t go because I had a project I was working on that was time sensitive. Anyway, I’m asleep. They came back and I had left the tray on the kitchen counter. My dad took the entire tray away so no one else could have it and he stashed brownies all around the tower so he had a snack for the week.”
He laughed, “Wow, that’s excessive.”
“You’re telling me. Thor and Clint were rabid going around the tower trying to find them. They never did. He was so good at hiding snacks it’s insane.”
“I can’t blame him. I would do the same.”
“You did. You hid cupcakes. From Katy. On her birthday.”
Shangqi pursed his lips as you stared up at him waiting for a response. He shrugged his shoulders, “She understood. They were really good.”
“I’m surrounded by children,” you snorted and adjusted the bag strap on your shoulder as you two went to Shangqi’s room. While you were heading there, you heard a voice that made you stop in your tracks.
“Well, well, well, look what the cat dragged in. Almighty Starkling gracing us with her presence. My, aren’t we all just so blessed?”
You turned around and saw Clint shutting a door behind him with a smirk on his face. He leaned against the wall as you dropped your bag on the floor and ran towards him. He groaned when you launched yourself at him, crushing him with a hug that made you hear several of his bones cracking.
“I missed you, you big dumb idiot,” you mumbled as you hugged him tightly. “You look good. Old, but good.”
His smile was lopsided as he tutted and returned your hug with just as much love, “I missed you too, kiddo. You look like shit, as per usual.”
“Oh, fuck off.” You laughed.
Clint laughed and ruffled your hair. He looked up to see Shangqi heading over to the two of you after setting the bags down. Offering a smile, Clint stuck his hand out, “Nice to see you again, Shangqi.”
“Yeah, likewise, man,” Shangqi shook his hand. “You know, without the panic that this one ran off to another country.”
“She does that,” Clint nodded. “You ever hear about those Earthquakes a couple years ago that shook the whole midwest?”
“Yeah.”
“Panic attack,” Clint nodded. “Oh, or that massive, massive avalanche in the Alps? Her.”
Shangqi’s eyes widened, “What?”
Clint nodded, “Yup. Someone threatened Tony and she destroyed that facility, and everything in a five mile radius. Come on. Let’s get a beer. I’ll tell you more about her running away by herself instead of facing her issues with people.”
You sighed and watched them walk away, “Men,” you muttered under your breath and grabbed the bags to drag to his room.
“Hey, look, man,” Shangqi whispered as they walked together. “I’m glad you’re here. I have something I wanted to ask you about —“
“I know,” Clint nodded. When Shangqi looked surprised, he shrugged, “I could tell by the way you were fidgeting you wanted to get away from Stark for a bit. You talk to Pepper about it?”
He nodded, then looked shocked, “Wait. How — “
“Spy,” Clint said easily, pointing to himself. “People are predictable. So, hit me with it, kid.”
~*~
After dropping your bags off and being rid of your best friend and your boyfriend, all on their accord, you decided to go straight to the kitchen to get started on the baking. On the way there, you felt yourself get grabbed around the waist and lifted into the air. You screeched and looked over your shoulder to see Bucky laughing at you.
“Wow, you didn’t see that coming, Stark?”
“I wasn’t listening like that,” you huffed. “Hi, Bucky.”
He grinned and gave you a hug, “Hey, Stark.”
You shook your head as you returned the hug, “When’d you get in?”
“Ah, came in with Barton. Bike’s in the garage looking like shit. Do you want to —“
“You know I’m not as good as dad with cars,” you said quickly.
He shrugged, “Help me then?”
“Later, I’ve got to get baking.”
“Fine,” He sighed dramatically and followed you to the kitchen. “No Katy? Thought she was coming.”
“She did, actually. Shangqi and I got her on the way in but she stayed in the city to do something. I don’t know. She said it was something personal to take care of. I didn’t pry.”
“Shocking,” Bucky remarked and leaned against the counter to watch you peer into the box of baking necessities you had sent to the compound. “What are you making?”
“Well, Sam’s bringing sweet potato pie and pumpkin pie, so thank god for Sam.”
Bucky rolled his eyes, “He’s just fine. Not that great.”
“You are such a child,” you admonished. “I’m making my mom’s cookies, some apple pies, cupcakes, brownies.”
“Jesus, Stark.”
“You should’ve seen the list of things I said no to,” you remarked. “Getting everything done tonight so I can rest all day tomorrow.”
“You mean micromanage everyone else doing the cooking.”
“I don’t — I don’t micromanage.”
“You’d micromanage how we eat your baked goods if you could,” Pepper remarked as she entered the kitchen with two giant bags and Morgan hot on her heels. “Actually, sometimes, you definitely do.”
Bucky took the bags from her, the two giving each other a kiss on the cheek in greeting as he set them on the island. When Bucky turned around he bent down and made a fist to bump against Morgan’s. Clutching her Bucky Bear, she gave him a fist bump before running around the counter to greet you. She waited for her mom to finish hugging you before she hugged your legs.
“And hello to you too, Morgan,” you bent down to hug her tightly. “Nice bear.”
“Thank you,” she grinned. “Where’s Shangqi?”
You laughed, “Why, you miss him?”
Morgan rolled her eyes, “Because he’s going to be my uncle, duh.”
You made a face, “Huh?”
Bucky and Pepper shared a look that you missed entirely, a look of panic and frenzy as Pepper bent down and placed her hand on Morgan’s shoulder.
“She just means that she’s considering giving him the title. You know, she’s still evaluating him,” Pepper lied.
You nodded, “That’s true. Hey, tell him he’s on probation but don’t tell him why. I think it’s funny.”
Morgan’s eyes lit up at the possibility of mischief, “Okay!”
You beamed, “Good. And later on when I start making brownies, why don’t you come join me? Brownies were dad’s favorite dessert I made.”
Morgan clutched the bear tightly to her chest, “Really?”
You nodded, “Yes. He liked chocolate even more than Pepper. Crazy, right?”
Morgan beamed. She nodded along and ran away to look for Shangqi. Pepper was chasing after her trying to get her coat from her. You glanced to Bucky who asked if you had needed anything before he split. You shook your head and sent him away.
“Wednesday,” you said aloud. “Play my music.”
~*~
“I think it’s really, really cheesy and kind of ridiculous, but I think she’ll be happy,” Clint said with a nod. “good for you.”
“Thanks. That means a lot coming from you. You know, after talking to Pepper she told me I should come talk to you, so — I mean, because, you know, her dad isn’t —“
Clint groaned, “Stop. You’re making me feel old. I get it. I’m her fake big brother, it’s fine.” Clint took a sip of beer and glanced around Shangqi, “Oh, speaking of older siblings. Hi there, Ms. Morgan.”
Morgan smiled shyly at Clint, “Hi, Legolas.” She turned her attention to Shangqi and climbed onto the sofa while Clint sat there quietly stewing over the nickname that was, apparently, never going to leave him. Shangqi outstretched his arms to hug Morgan, who wrapped hers tightly around his neck. “Hi Uncle Shangqi.”
Shangqi chuckled, “I’m Uncle now?”
“You’re on probation,” She said rather flatly. Shangqi looked surprised, but Pepper finally caught up to her speedy little girl.
“Y/N told her to say that,” Pepper explained.
“Ha,” Clint laughed.
“But I didn’t even — wow,” Shangqi shook his head while Morgan was laughing. “And how are we today, Ms. Morgan?”
“Good! I’m going to make brownies later with my sister,” Morgan explained. “Can we play?”
“In a little bit, okay?”
“Okay.” she nodded and turned to jump off of the sofa. She gasped and pointed ahead of her at the doorway. They all looked up to see Steve entering the room to people he hadn’t seen since the snap. He cleared his throat and nodded to Pepper as he quietly said hello.
“Steve,” She said flatly. “You look well.”
“You as well. Thanks for letting me come.”
“That wasn’t my decision,” Pepper explained with a smile. “I would’ve put you back in the ice so you can suffer another lifetime with absolutely no one familiar around you. Again.”
Steve blinked, “Duly noted, ma’am.”
Morgan jumped off of the sofa and walked over to Steve. He glanced down at her before kneeling down. She could see that he was the same man that showed up on her doorstep long ago to talk to her father, and not shortly after, her dad was gone, her sister ran off and was sad, and this man was, apparently, no longer her uncle.
“Old Uncle Steve,” She said, finally able to enunciate the ‘v’ in his name.
He nodded, “Morgan.”
Winding back, Morgan surprised everyone by punching Steve in the face. Pepper gasped, hands coming up to cover her mouth in pure shock that her daughter punched Steve in the face. Shangqi’s jaw fell open because he never thought she would actually punch someone in the face. As for Clint?
“Ha!” Clint howled with laughter after choking on his beer. “That is the greatest thing I’ve seen so far, littlest Stark.”
“Morgan!” Pepper gasped and looked at Steve. “I — wow, I am sorry, Steve. I can’t believe —“
“It’s okay, Pepper.” Steve said as he stood up. “I know everyone wants to do worse than that to me anyway. I’ll just get out of here, Clint, Shangqi.”
“Rogers,” Clint nodded while Shangqi simply raised a hand, still in disbelief over what Morgan did.
Steve left the room, and Morgan turned around to see Shangqi leaning down to her level.
“Morgan, you are my favorite Stark.”
“Well, duh.”
~*~
Humming to yourself, you were working hard on your baking. Sam, his sister, and her kids had arrived and put the pies in the refrigerator for tomorrow. Happy, Peter, and May were on their way. Scott was bringing Cassie around soon, and you were still waiting for Katy.
And, at the moment, you were struggling with a can.
“What do you mean I can’t open this fucking can?” you growled to yourself. “I will end you. Oh, maybe I need a laser — ugh I don’t feel like leaving.”
An idea hit you. You had pretty good control over your powers. You’d done some crazy shit in your lifetime, so maybe you could open this can without making the entire thing explode, right?
You held the can in your hand, took a deep breath, and tried to make the lid pop off without making the filling shoot out completely. It did not work. The can opened up instantly. The lid shot off the top at a violent speed and hit the ceiling. The rest of the can exploded in your hand. Part of the can split and sliced the flesh between your thumb and index finger.
“Oh my god, Y/N!”
You looked up to see Steve had entered just in time to see your hot mess. You pursed your lips and looked down at the blood rushing from your hand before looking back up at him.
“Happy Thanksgiving, Steve.”
He sighed and went to grab a kitchen towel. He shook his head at the mess you made as he wrapped the towel around the hand. “Starting early on the holiday injuries?”
“Not on purpose. The can opener broke.”
“So you turn the can into a bomb while it’s in your hand.”
“I thought it would work,” you mumbled, watching Steve bring your hand to the sink to run it under water and get rid of the pumpkin puree.
He sighed and shook his head, “I’m surprised you’re letting me even help you.”
“I said I’d be civil,” you remarked. “And I’m going to be. Unless you give me a reason not to be.”
“I won’t,” Steve shook his head. “But, Y/N — “
“Steve — “
“Thanks for letting me be part of this,” he said. “I know you and everyone basically want to murder me, so.”
“It’s a front,” you explained. “They’re mad at you for what you did to me, yeah, but they still love you. They’re just hurt.”
He snorted in amusement, “When did you get so wise?”
“My boyfriend is very good at listening and giving advice. Not always on the execution of it.”
“Sounds like you,” Steve mused and told you to wait for a moment. He bent down and grabbed a first aid kit from under the sink. Standing back up, he kept your hand outstretched on the counter so he could clean it up and stitch it for you. “You know, for what it’s worth, he does seem like a good man.”
You gasped, “Wow. Steve Rogers complimenting my boyfriend? Color me impressed. Does this mean you’ll back off?”
“No,” he said confidently as he cleaned your wound. “I still love you, Y/N. I’ll make it up to you and prove to you how much you mean to me, and that I’m still  —“
“Stubborn, pig-headed, self-righteous idiot?”
“Yes. That,” He sighed and placed the steri-strips across your wound. “I love you. I still do. I always will. I will make sure you know that, whatever it takes, starting with this kitchen.”
“Oh, hell no,” You laughed. “No, get out. I got it.”
Steve crossed his arms over his chest and leaned against the counter. He gestured to your hand with his chin, “You can’t roll your mom’s cookies with that hand. It’s gonna hurt too much — I know you’ll try but you’ll stress yourself out because you’ll be fearing something unsanitary happening, even with gloves on. You’ve still got crusts to pinch, dough to roll, batters to make, nuts to grind. You need help.”
“And why does my help have to be you?”
“Because I’m the only one who has helped you in the kitchen that you have yet to yell at,” he pointed out.
“Bucky used to help his mom and sister though.”
“Bucky will eat everything before it leaves the mixer,” Steve deadpanned. “Sam’s capable, but he keeps wanting to experiment on your recipes rather than listen to you.Pepper mixes up the steps sometimes because, well, you write recipes in the worst way —“
“No, I don’t!”
“Your pumpkin pie recipe says ‘five seconds of milk’. You know that, right?”
You pouted, “Well, Clint —“
“Will eat it. Like Bucky, and Bruce doesn’t have the patience. We don’t even know how Scott will be.”
“Bet I can get Peter to help.”
“If he were here.”
“Well, Shangqi — “
“You and Morgan banned him from helping. I heard about that. Come on. No funny business. I’m right here. Just let me help. I’ve done this with you for many years. I know the drill.”
You didn’t want to admit it, but he had a point. Steve was the only person who didn’t test you in the kitchen and actually listened, like a good soldier taking orders. Plus, he knew your lingo, so to speak, when you did your recipes, and he was familiar with all of it.
“Fine. No funny business,” you repeated.
“Yes, ma’am.” He nodded and grabbed an apron off the hook. “You have more pumpkin?”
“I always buy extra,” you said. “Can opener doesn’t work, though.”
You watched as Steve quietly grabbed a knife, stabbed the lid, grabbed the opening he had made, and rip the lid off with ease. You scoffed and muttered that he was a show-off before you two started working.
~*~
If Shangqi had made it obvious that Steve baking with you made him want to set the man on fire after stabbing him six million times, it would’ve looked like he was horribly insecure about his presence even though he would repeatedly say that he felt nothing for that man because he wasn’t intimidated. However, when he went with Morgan to the kitchen to get water and saw you two silently baking together, he felt like committing treason against the country by murdering a relic.
And he definitely knew he could quietly sneak up on him. Or maybe he’d use the rings and really Pummel Steve’s perfect face into the ground — forget it. Nope. Not worth it. He totally shouldn’t do this.
You two had baked everything together, and Steve only left after helping you prep the brownies so you and Morgan could do that together and he could leave so he wouldn’t intrude on family time, and so Morgan wouldn’t commit another act of assault against him. He figured this was a good, passive way to get on your good side.
You finished baking together, everything was ready tomorrow, and you made an announcement to everyone that if they touched a single dessert before tomorrow, you’d slaughter them.
~*~
Come Thanksgiving day, everyone was there. Rhodey and Happy had crushed you in hugs. Seeing you sent them back to thinking about their long-gone best friend. Everyone was as nice as they could be, with the exception of friendly roasting. That was allowable.
During your snacking phase of the early afternoon while waiting for the Turkey to be done, you finally heard Katy’s voice. Grinning, you got up and ran over to see Katy and were surprised to see someone else with her.
“Oh, shit,” you blurted out. “Hi, Xialing!”
She smiled and nodded her head, “Hi, Y/N. Katy brought me.”
“Yeah, thought I’d surprise someone with a little Ling Ling action!” Katy shouted as she grabbed Xialing’s shoulders. “Where is he?”
Everyone turned to look for him. Shangqi was spotted only because they could hear him making dragon noises. You snorted and crossed your arms over your chest, watching your boyfriend chase Morgan and her wooden sword around.
“Hey, dragon breath!” Katy shouted. “Look!”
Shangqi stopped short when he heard Katy. Frowning, he turned, thoroughly prepared to insult her own breath when he saw Xialing standing there, “Mei mei?”
Xialing waved, “Surprise?”
Shangqi grinned and made his way over to her, giving her a hug as he expressed how happy he was to see her. Xialing explained that Katy wanted to surprise him by bringing the two together for a holiday. Shangqi looked to Katy and grinned to hug her just as tightly.
Shangqi proudly introduced his sister to everyone, stopping specifically in front of Morgan.
“Ms. Morgan,” he began. “This is my little sister, Xialing.”
Morgan stared up at her, “Hi Xialing. I’m a little sister too.”
“Oh?” Xialing asked and looked around before her eyes settled on you, “Her?”
Morgan nodded, “We have daddy’s same unamused face.”
Xialing blinked, “Your vocabulary is fantastic.”
“I know. Thank you.”
~*~
Katy introduced Xialing to Bucky, and you couldn’t but notice the biggest smirk on Bucky’s face as he watched Xialing and Katy talk to each other. You made a mental note to ask him if he also agreed the two were a thing.
Dinner went very well. The table was loud with conversation. Morgan was telling Peter about her latest adventures, and Sam was spending his time roasting the life out of Bucky to his own sister, to try to make sure he humbled this man in front of her, at least a little bit.
After a massive dinner, there was a break before you guys would move on to dessert. Bruce suggested movies, which turned into Scott suggesting Thanksgiving movies, which lead to an argument that there weren’t really any good thanksgiving movies, so Clint suggested they come to some sort of compromise: action Christmas movies.
While everyone started saying what movies could fall under this category, Shangqi tapped you on the shoulder and leaned over you to whisper in your ear from behind, “Meet me outside?”
You shrugged and nodded. Setting down your drink, you slid off the back of the sofa and followed Shangqi out the glass doors. You both leaned against the railing. The cold fall air made you shiver, so Shangqi slipped off his jacket and put it around you.
“What a gentleman,” you teased with a smile on your face.
“I try,” He grinned, and for the first time today, you noticed he was sweating in the cold.
“Are you okay? You look, well, sick.”
He laughed nervously again and fiddled with his hands, “Um, well. Uh. You know. I thought this was smart at first, you know, making you be here with all your loved ones and people who cares bout you. Even my sister is here, which is wild and so awesome.”
You blinked, “Uh huh…”
He cleared his throat, “And uh, I know I was sneaking around a bit.”
You nodded, “Yeah, Wong told me he sent you on some missions. It’s fine.”
“That’s a lie,” Shangqi said.
“Oh,” you blinked. “Do I…do I need to, like, murder you now?”
“What? No, no! Okay. I’m shit at this,” he took a deep breath. “I love you, you know? Remember our conversation during that snow storm? How I wanted you to be the mom of my kids one day when we’re both ready?”
You nodded, “You uh, you’re not ready yet, are you? Because I’m definitely not ready for that.”
He chuckled and shook his head, “No, no, but I’m ready for something else.”
You pushed off the railing when you saw him move from the corner of your eye. Looking over you gasped when you saw Shangqi on one knee and holding out a black velvet box with the prettiest ring you’d ever seen.
“I’ve kind of been doing a few fights at the club because, let’s face it, valeting doesn’t pay a ton and I wanted to be able to get you a ring before we’re old and grey. Y/N, I love you and —“
“Yes!”
“I didn’t even ask.”
“Okay, fine, hurry, hurry!”
He laughed, “I love you. I want every part of the rest of my life to be with you, all the adventures, the good and the bad, all my memories, I want you in them. Will you marry me?”
“YES!”
You tackled him to the ground after he put the ring on your finger. He laughed as you two lay on the ground with you planting kisses all over his face. He felt the ground rumbling beneath him, and he knew it was because you were so happy. For once, your powers released from happiness and not stress or rage.
You both stood up. Holding hands, you walked back inside the living room where your friends and family shouted and raised their glasses in a toast. Pepper and Clint smiled at each other, and you wondered if they knew what was happening as everyone offered their congratulations.
You could see Steve standing in the background quietly sipping his beer. He gave you one nod of his head. He was being polite. You could see how forced it was. But you knew that look in his eye was determination, and you wondered what he had planned.
“Uncle Shangqi!” Morgan said as she hugged the two of you.
You quickly pieced it together and looked down at her, “You little fucking shit. You knew.”
She nodded her head excitedly, “Yes, yes I did.”
You glanced at Shangqi who shrugged, “I asked Pepper.”
“And me too,” Clint added.
“What the fuck?” You laughed. “Wow. That’s…that’s adorable.”
“Hey, I didn’t give the okay, though,” Peter chimed in.
You rolled your eyes, “Next marriage, Peter.”
“Cool.”
Shangqi blinked, “Wait, what?”
“I’m kidding, I’m kidding,” you laughed and kissed him sweetly on the lips. “I love you, Shangqi.”
“I love you too, Y/N.”
As everyone was about to celebrate with dessert, you noticed that Katy and Bucky had been uncharacteristically quiet. You looked around until you saw the two of them quietly trying to decimate a pumpkin pie by themselves.
“You mother fuckers!” You yelled. “Really?”
“Eat, eat faster,” Bucky said quickly and quietly.
“Shit, she’s getting closer,” Katy said as she grabbed the whipped cream can and sprayed it into her mouth. “Hurry up, Barnes!”
“Yeah, mother fuckers!” Morgan shouted happily.
“Morgan!” Pepper groaned, “Damn it, Y/N!”
“Oh, fuck.” You muttered to yourself. “Happy Thanksgiving?”

A Showdown
Masterlist
A/N: This didn’t exactly turn out the way I had wanted it to, but I forgot all of my notes. Special thanks to  @wint3r-h3art and @tom-whore-dleston for working out the slappening in this fic
Pairings/Characters: Shangqi x Stark!Reader, Steve Rogers, Clint Barton, Natasha Romanoff
Warnings: violence, talks about pregnancy/miscarriages, fist-fighting, clint being indifferent and pizza-obsessed
Summary: Steve has finally come to you for help, and now you’re left facing your biggest fear.
Previous Chapter:  A Very Alarming Message
WC: 2.5k
Tumblr media
“Unbelievable,” Shangqi muttered as he sat in the passenger side of your car as you drove from the MET to Clint’s apartment in Bedstuy. It was meant to be mutual territory for all of you. Apparently, Steve couldn’t wait for you to get to the compound, and this needed to be said away from certain people, his words, not yours. Clint seemed to be the perfect man in the middle, simply because Natasha was also present, and she seemed more likely to stop a murder fest between you and Steve than anyone else.
Especially given how Shangqi was feeling at the moment.
“Un-fucking-believable,” Shangqi repeated to himself. “He couldn’t Ask for help while we were there? He waits until we’re outside, when you look that freaking good and feel like jumping my bones the whole night? I think he’s full of shit. He’s absolutely, totally full of shit, and he’s just doing this to give us a hard time. I fucking hate him now.”
“Sure, now you hate him,” you teased.
“Well, as much as you do, at least.”
“Oh, I don’t think anyone comes close to me on that,” you countered, “but I love that your hatred of him has grown. Let your hate consume you, Shangqi.”
“Don’t, don’t go all Palpatine on me. We both know you’re more of a Jedi than Sith leaning anyway,” He sighed as he leaned on his arm.
You chuckled, “Well, definitely more grey-leaning at the least.” You parked in front of Clint’s building, ignoring the fact that the spot you chose definitely wasn’t a spot, and you were likely to get a ticket if some traffic cop came around in the middle of the night. “I see his bike down the block.”
“Great. He’s here,” Shangqi groaned. “This was not how the night was meant to go.”
“I know.”
“You were going to do deplorable things to me, and I was going to do deplorable things to you!”
“Trust me, I’m aware.”
“We were going to traumatize people in a random hotel! I needed this!” He whined and loosened his tie and undid his jacket buttons. “Ugh, let’s just go. At least Clint’s there, he’s cool. Do you think he has food?”
“Honey, I’m nearly positive that man has food.”
Shocking absolutely no one, when you got to Clint’s floor, you could smell pizza. You looked to Shangqi who sighed in relief. You didn’t want to know where that man had gotten pizza from this late at night, but, hey, it was New York, after all.
The door was already open since you had rung the bell downstairs to be let in. You both walked right into the apartment and were hit by the smell of pizza even more. Clint muttered that Steve was in the kitchen, and you all walked right over there to see him leaning against the counter, his hands gripping the countertop behind him while Natasha leaned against the refrigerator.
Natasha caught your eye, a tiny smirk forming at the corner of her lips as she addressed you, “Hey, Stark. Still in shock I’m here?”
“What? No. I’m totally fine with the fact that you’re back and we had a totally different relationship in your world.”
“Well, you were dead for most of it in my world, so,” Natasha nodded. “Anyway, Steve’s here.”
“Great,” Shangqi muttered under his breath and grabbed a slice of pizza off the countertop before shoving half of it in his mouth. “So what is it this time, Rogers? You found out we were having a nice night out on the town, and you just felt it in your bones to try to steal my wife from me for the millionth time?”
“No,” Steve cleared his throat and lifted his head to look at you with those pitiful blue eyes. “We have a problem.”
Rolling your eyes, which earned a smirk from Clint as he leaned over to whisper in Natasha’s ear, you hopped up and sat on the last empty counter, “Speak.”
“I think there’s a version of you from an alternatte universe here,” Steve confessed.
This was it. This was exactly your fear, another you in your world trying to cause trouble. You sat there listening to Steve plead his case, how he explained that you, or rather, this version of you, came to him saying how you loved him, that you and Shangqi were no more. He explained that the two of you had been sleeping together and that Steve thought this was the chance he’d been waiting for, but how he realized it was too good to be true the second she called him ‘Stevie’, but he was so enamored with the idea of having you back, he kept on doing it until the guilt got to him.
“So, let me get this straight,” you cleared your throat. “You thought I left Shangqi, and you decided that it was totally normal for me to appproach you and fuck you after leaving my husband.”
“Well, there was a tan line on your ring finger, and you were wearing that blue sweater I really like — “
“I don’t even own that anymore, Steve! I burned it! I can’t fucking believe you. I can’t believe you honestly thought it was me and you just went with it thinking with your fucking dick first! This is unbelievable! And, what, you had your fill of her and you’re telling me this now, why?”
Steve groaned, “Like I said, Y/N, I, I just wasn’t thinking. I thought it was you, okay? I love you, and I —“
Steve did not finish his sentence. Shangqi had quietly taken one step forward, just enough space for him to reel back and throw his fist against Steve’s cheek. The super soldier stumbled but quickly recovered to see Shangqi fuming.
“You need to stay the hell away from my wife,” Shangqi growled. “Just keep her name out of your fucking mouth, Rogers.”
Clint cleared his throat to get your attention, “You gonna stop that?”
You crossed one leg over the other and grabbed one of Clint’s discarded beers to drink from, “Nope.”
“Shangqi —“
“No,” he said, cutting him off quickly. “No, Steve. I’m sick of it. Ever since.I met you, you’ve been trying to get her away from me. Now you’re just standing here telling me all about how you slept with her and thought we were done, so you swooped in like a vulture? I mean, what kind of brazen piece of shit are you?”
“I get you’re upset, but you’ve got to understand our history here —“
“No —“
“Gentlemen,” Natasha said loudly to cut over their bickering, “You’re missing the point here. Y/N Stark from another universe is here looking for family. What does that mean?”
Steve shook his head, “She just said she wanted me back and how she loves me.”
“And what have you been doing?” Natasha asked, then rolled her eyes when she saw Steve turn red, “Aisde from sleeping together, Steve.”
“She kept talking about starting over, and having a family together and stepping away from all of this,” Steve explained. “It was...very domestic, I hadn’t heard you say anything like that for a long time, Y/N.”
You hummed, “Well, I haven’t been feeling very domestic for a long time, and you were gone, so, you know —“
“Before that —“
“Whatever —“
“She talked about wanting kids,” Steve said. “But she kept it short, like it upset her.”
Clint frowned, “Where is she, Steve?”
“She’s at the compound. I left saying I was meeting Bucky.”
“Wow, Captain America lying again, amazing,” Shangqi snickered.
“Out of curiosity, where’s Morgan?” Natasha asked.
“At home….” you trailed off. “Do you think she’d go after them?”
“I think if she’s desperate for a family, who knows what she’s capable of.”
You knew you had to act fast, you jumped off the table and went to grab your phone from your clutch as you started barking orders, “Steve, call my father. Clint, get the special arrows —“
“They’re all special — “
“You know which ones,” you said quickly, locking eyes with the man who cringed and nodded.  You nodded to yourself, “Shangqi, rings?”
“Car.”
“Okay. I’m calling Strange, we’re gonna need him. Here’s the plan. We’re teleporting to either the compound, or the lake house. Clint, I want you nowhere near. I want you as far as you can get while maintaining sight. Shangqi, you, Steve, Sam, and Bucky are on quake watch — after we kidnap them, of course.”
Shangqi balked, “Excuse me?”
“Oh, let me make myself clear:  If one or both of us gets close to breaking the planet in half, you have to stop us. Your rings can, at the very least, match my power. They have vibranium, Stephen can teleport them, and Clint —“
“Has knockout arrows and a very special netting arrow where the netting is very thinly laced with vibranium, made it after the snap, not sure how strong it is yet, but I guess we’ll find out,” Clint added as he threw his quiver on his shoulder. “Let’s get going, shall we?”
“No plan for me, Stark?” Natasha asked after a moment, head tilting to the side as she stared at you. “I’m hurt.”
You chewed on your bottom lip, “I’m sure you can guess what I need from you.”
Natasha’s eyes flickered over to Shangqi. She watched as the man gave her the most confused stare on the planet as he looked between her and you. Natasha looked back to you and gave you one quick nod in understanding.
~*~
After gathering everyone in the middle of the night, you went to the compound to prepare for something potentially horrible. Tony said that no one had come to the compound yet, but he did have his sensors go off for seismic activity near the property before it stopped.
You deduced that, perhaps, you realized that the other you had been detected and decided to back off of the lake house for now. This way, when everyone was at the compound and in position, Shangqi several feet behind you with Steve, the rest of them laying in hiding, you expected to see yourself. You were waiting for it, but watching a version of you suddenly land in the dirt in front of you, ground cracking by her feet, it was unnerving. When she stood at her full height, you felt a little uneasy watching her stare at you with such intensity.
Is this what it was like when people saw you? Wow, this was a lot.
“So we finally meet. You found me out. It took you long enough,” she said to you. “I’m not here to fight.”
“Good,” you replied. “Why are you here?”
“It’s simple,” she explained. “I lost everything, and I want my life back.”
You shook your head, “You can’t have it by taking mine.”
She laughed in your face, “Is that what you think? That, that you and your band of merry friends hiding in the trees could stop me from taking what I want?”
“Well, clearly,” You shrugged and nodded to her. “This is my life, not yours. I think it’s time you go.”
“You’re not sending me back,” she shook her head. “You got your dad back, your friends, you got Stevie back and you don’t even love him like you should.”
“He hurt me — “
“We hurt him,” she snapped. “We failed him.”
You laughed in disbelief, “We didn’t do shit. Fuck that guy, he’s a prick. I knew my self-esteem was low, but damn, that low to think you’re missing out with Steve of all people? Rough, buddy. I — “
“Don’t talk about him like that!” She threw her hand up and made your heart stop. You gasped for air and clutched your chest as you went straight to the ground. Shangqi ran forward, his hand shooting forward to hit her with a ring, but she deflected his own ring back to him and sent him flying in the air until Steve jumped up, caught his arm, and brought him down.
“Stop it!” Steve shouted. “Stop hurting her!”
The alternate version of you lowered her hand. You gasped for air as the pain stopped and your heart started pumping blood once more. You looked up as she started approaching you in a slow, sinister walk.
“You don’t know what it’s like to watch your husband die,” she hissed. “To watch the life leave his eyes because he died for you. You have no idea how that feels.”
You held up your hand, your index and thumb close together, “A little bit.”
Laughing, she knelt down in front of you, “I lost everything, and you have everything I want, well, almost everything I want.”
You stared up at her and narrowed your eyes, “Oh, right. You wanted a baby, right? Did you think you can just take my sister and raise her as your own? Fat chance. Why not just keep letting Steve use you as a cum dumpster? He’s stupid enough to think you’re somewhat like me.”
She chuckled again and shook her head, “You don’t even know, do you?”
“Know what?”
“We can’t have children, Stark,” she explained to you. “Have you never tried? Two husbands, and not a single attempt at kids? Sad, pathetic, even,” she shook her head. “We can’t have children.”
You laughed at her. She was lying, clearly. You were perfectly healthy, so why would you be unable to have kids? That wasn’t even a thought that had crossed your mind, it wasn’t a concern, nothing ever came up. “That’s, that’s just not true. You, maybe, but there’s nothing wrong with me —“
“Miscarriage, after miscarriage, after miscarriage, and you know what I learned?” She stood up tall. “We’re just too physically unstable to have a kid. All that power we hold in, it’s too unstable an environment, and when we use it? It’s even worse. You will never be a mother, Y/N Stark. You will never have that picture-perfect family that I know you want, but I will.”
Now, given that this was you, you knew what to expect. Your hands came up just as hers did, and the two of you were intent on using your powers to kill the other, but you were locked in a stalemate. Shangqi tried to throw his rings into the mix, but the power emanating from you two, they couldn’t even penetrate.
Steve’s shield hovered in the air near you, but it was flung right back. You and yourself were making the earth beneath you shake and crack, a split forming in the dirt between you. Chunks of the ground started to shoot up, and as the earth started to split, you both started to lose your balance, but neither were giving up.
“Just let me have this!” She shouted at you, “Let me have him! You don’t even want him!”
“You’re right, I don’t,” you agreed. “But I’m not letting some cunty, harpy version of me have him either. You will not have my life.”
She nodded frantically, “Fine, then die!”
Everything went black.

Warnings: violence, fighting ,swears, angsty??
Summary:  It started out as a casual day, and Stephen Strange and Peter Parker went and ruined everything.
WC: 3,170
Tumblr media
This was not supposed to happen like this. It was supposed to be a casual day in the city. You were back in New York for a quick work trip. You were settling some business for Stark Industries, picked up your new suit, just in case of a fight, and, more importantly, you were hanging out in the city with Katy and Shangqi.  Every single time  you guys came to New York, you never went to just have fun in the city, so now you were going to.
You had just finished a late meeting. It was dark out now, and you were on your way to meet Shangqi and Katy for dinner, which you were late to, of course. They had already left a video message on how they had to start without you because they were starving, and they showed how they ordered drinks and appetizers for the table while begging for you to show up. It put a smile on your face, and you couldn’t help but laugh as you thought about what waited for you at the restaurant.
While you were sitting in traffic, you leaned against the window and sang along to your music. Nothing else mattered unless it was the car in front of you moving, and right now, nothing was moving. Groaning, you banged your head on the steering wheel before sitting up and sighing. Everything came to a standstill, and upon peering through your windshield, you realized that traffic was not moving for miles ahead of you, and there were strange colors in the sky. In fact, it almost looked like the sky was being ripped apart.
“Oh, shit,” you muttered and dug around your glove compartment. Grabbing an earpiece, you put it in your right ear. “Wednesday? What’s going on.”
“I’ve detected anomalies in the fabric of space and time,” she explained.
You nodded, “Is this a Doctor Strange thing?”
“Boss, it seems like this is going to be an everyone problem. I’m detecting lifeforms entering through the ripples in the sky. I can’t get in contact with Doctor Strange.”
“Shit,” you swore under you breath. “Fuck it. You know what? I’ll say it. Avengers Assemble.”
There was a pause, “Does that mean you’d like me to contact everyone?”
“Yes, Wednesday, get every single person here! Contact Wong, see if he can make portals. Do anything and everything we can. Geez, Steve says Assemble and you go on autopilot but when I do it you hesitate? The nerve.”
“Boss, you’ve overused the term and have said it just to get ice cream. I had to ask.”
“Rude,” you muttered. “Contact Shangqi and Katy — shit, they must know what’s happening. Tell them I’m on the way.”
You shed your jacket and tossed it in the backseat. After rolling up the sleeve of your blouse, you looked down at the watch you had clearly stolen from your father and worked on tirelessly to fit your needs. You tapped the face of the watch three times and sat still as a suit of nanotechnology enveloped you. It wasn’t an Iron Man suit, not by a long-shot, but it was your old suit with a bit of a design upgrade.
Exiting the car, you shut the door, locked it behind you, then took a deep breath.  As you were about to leap into action, you nodded to yourself and ran into the nearest corner store and grabbed a protein bar. You went to pay, realized you had no cash on you in this suit, had to run back to your car to get cash, run back into the store, pay, inhale the bar, and then leap towards the chaos.
Finally someone was able to relay some information to you. Karen was able to send a message from Peter to Wednesday who was able to tell you a brief version of what was going on. In short, Stephen Strange and Peter Parker had fucked up.
You met up with Shangqi and Katy by landing with a mighty thud behind them. Shangqi had his rings, and Katy was equipped with a bow and arrow set she had looted from a nearby sporting goods store. You looked to the two of them and exhaled deeply.
“Wow, you look fucking hot,” Katy blurted out. “You should honestly go back to being a full-time Avenger because. God, wow, what a look.”
“I agree. Please, please wear that more often,” Shangqi nodded as he stared hard at you.
“Thanks, guys,” you laughed. “Well, welcome to the shit show,” you exhaled slowly and looked around quickly. “Katy, you’re not going to be good here.”
“Hey! I’m plenty capable and — “
“I’d never mean it that way,” you said quickly as you looked around. “You need a vantage point. You’ve only got a set amount of arrows, too. Okay. Here,” you opened your palm and gave them each an earpiece. “It’s already set to the channel we need, it’s 3, always 3. Katy, I want you up in that building, that window, right there,” you pointed. “Can you do that?”
Katy nodded, “Yeah, yeah. I can do that.”
“Good. We’re going to get you there. When we do, you’ll stay there. Give us aerial support. Clint’s in town taking care of some shit so he’ll be here too. I’m sending him to you.”
Katy nodded quickly, “Tell him to bring extra arrows.”
“Oh, he never remembers that. Okay. Shangqi, ready?”
He nodded, “Let’s go.”
You and Shangqi fought to get Katy to her designated location. He was using his rings far more than usual, just because these were giant aliens with armor and guns he’d never seen before in his life. You were using your powers to blast holes into their bodies, disintegrate their weapons, or knock them back. Katy was shooting off her arrows as well, and each time an enemy fell, she scooped up her arrow and tucked it into her, also stolen, quiver.
You reached the building. Katy held onto your shoulders as you launched into the air. You both went tumbling through the glass window of the building. Dusting yourselves off, you looked each other over to make sure the other was okay. When she was all set up, you leapt back out the window and landed next to Shangqi who was looking ahead of you.
The world was splitting. The multiverse was exploding all around you. Chitauri aliens you had defeated in 2012 were suddenly energy through ripples in the fabric of time, along with various other monsters and other people you’ve never seen before or you’d already defeated.
You looked to your left and saw Shangqi using the back of his hand to wipe the blood dripping down his brow. He looked to you after seeing the horde ahead of the both of you.
“Ready?” He asked you as the rings glowed on his arms.
You nodded quickly, “We don’t separate. We move forward, but we’re not letting them get past this point.”
He nodded back just as quickly, “And I’ve got a Snickers bar somewhere in my pocket if you need your energy back.”
You snorted at him, “Gee, thank you.”
“What? I can’t have you fainting on me at a time like this.”
Rolling your eyes, they began to glow a beautiful, bright golden color as you raised your hands ahead of you.  “I appreciate the honesty.”
The two of you charged. Shangqi launched himself into the air while you sent your hands forward, your powers knocking down dozens upon dozens of aliens, if they didn’t turn to dust or drop dead from your powers. When Shangqi landed, he used the rings as whips extending from both of his arms to knock them back. The two of you were creating a pathway to connect with the rest of your team as they entered the fray, all while trying to get this under control.
Exhausted, you slumped against a lamp pole as Shangqi skidded to a stop next to you. He took a deep breath and reached out to hold your hand, muttering that you two were almost there. Just as he said it, four massive Chitauri dripped from the sky and landed in front of you, guns ready to blast you both to smithereens. Both of you held your hands out, prepared to stop whatever came at you, but nothing ever did.
You heard a familiar whir that made your heart stop. You gasped when you heard the noise, and when you saw a red and gold suit drop in front of you, you thought you were dead. Arms reached out to cover the both of you, and rockets launched from the back of the suit. When they were dead, you all stood up, and you stared at this Iron Man suit wondering who had the nerve to steal something that belonged to your father.
Whoever was in the suit was staring at you. They barely looked at Shangqi when asking if they were all right, but when looking to you, this person froze and stared at you for a moment.
You heard the mask open up and you stared into the face of your father. His eyes were red and overflowing with tears as he stared at you in shock.
“You’re alive,” he croaked.
You couldn’t believe it. Your dad was standing in front of you. Tony Stark, flesh and blood in his suit like so many times before. His breathing was heavy as he stared at you, and you felt like your legs were turning into jelly. It was hard to stand, but thankfully you were already leaning on the pole. You felt like you could faint at any moment. You were frozen in place as Tony’s hand reached towards you, the thumb of his suit running down your cheek.
“You’re alive,” he laughed in disbelief. “You’re alive. You’re alive! You’re alive!”
All you saw was a blur before you felt yourself be lifted in the air. You glanced back and noticed his suit was totally open and he was no longer in it. Glancing down, you realized Tony had lifted you in the air and was hugging you.
“My darling little girl,” Tony muttered into your hair as he hugged you. He sucked in a deep breath as his hand cradled the back of your head, “God, I missed you.”
You were speechless. Your dad was holding you again, something you had craved for so long and never thought you’d experience ever again. A cry escaped you as you finally lifted your arms to return the hug, a gesture that made Tony silently cry into your neck. But as you were hugging him, something was running through your mind on repeat.
You’re alive.
“What, what do you mean I’m alive?” you asked quietly.
Tony pulled away from you, unsure of what to say. He avoided your question and looked to Shangqi. He suddenly straightened up, his body on high alert as he studied him. “What are you doing with Kid Mandarin, here?”
“My husband?” You asked, sniffling and wiping your tears, “We’re kind of killing aliens.”
“Husband?” Tony was in disbelief. “What happened to Steve?”
“Oh, here we go,” Shangqi muttered under his breath.
“Long story — Why did you call him Kid Mandarin?”
Tony stared at you like you were insane, “He’s the leader of the Ten Rings. You know this, right?”
“Not here he isn’t…” you trailed off.
“Honey,” Shangqi said quietly, “You did say it was the multiverse. I mean, he’s….well, he’s not your Tony. Do you get what I’m saying?”
You did. You did. You knew it. But you didn’t want to believe it. You just nodded your head, stood tall and looked at your father.
“There’s a lot going on right now, but we can’t focus on us, as much as I want to. Get in your suit. We’re trying to get to the statue of liberty.”
Tony couldn’t help but smile at how you were taking charge, “Okay, cupcake. I clocked Legolas and Kid Mandarin’s sidekick, Mini Nectarine a few blocks back.”
“Jesus, that’s not even funny that’s lazy fruit naming.”
“Anyway, I can give them a lift. We’ll do a loop around, meet everyone there.”
“Okay,” you nodded. “Be careful, please.”
“You too,” he nodded and stepped back into his suit. Before taking off, he locked eyes with Shangqi, “No funny business, Tangerine.”
Shangqi pursed his lips as your father took off, “So that happened.”
“I genuinely cannot even begin to address that right now,” you said.
“Yeah, I figured.”
“I need that Snickers bar right now, please.”
Shangqi nodded and handed you the candy bar. He stood beside you as you ripped it out of the wrapping and ate it in three bites. When you were ready, he nodded, and the two of you took off once again to your destination.
On your way there you came across a mammoth of a monster. It was double the size of the Hulk and looked intimidating beyond belief, but you, you were impatient and wanted nothing more than to get to the bottom of this.
Glaring at this creature, you raised your hand and did a move you had only done to Steve once before, but it was so much harder to do this time around. Your outstretched hand clenched into a fist and you patiently stood there, glaring at this creature as you made its heart stop beating and watched the light fade from its eyes. He collapsed in a heap on the ground, blood seeping from all of his orifices while Shangqi stared at you. He frowned seeing a hint of blood drip from your nose.
“You can’t do anymore right now,” He said quickly. “That was too much for you. Calm down.”
“We gotta get to the statute,” you said quickly. “At least it looks like they’ve stopped coming in. Come on, we have to do this.”
“Fine, but we’re stealing a boat —“
“I can do it,” you said quickly.
You two reached the dock and looked in the distance at the statute. You looked to Shangqi who nodded to you and held on to your shoulder and forearm. Crouching down, you launched yourself into the air. Three times your feet barely skimmed the water before you launched off again. On your final landing, you just barely made it to the edge of the park. You collapsed on the ground with your nose bleeding, and Shangqi quickly crouched down to you.
“So stubborn. I told you we had to steal a boat,” he sighed as he helped you to sit up.
You shrugged, “I’m impatient.”
“Oh, trust me. I’m aware,” he muttered and looked around. “Okay. Easy, babe. I’ve got you.”
You both finally reached the welcome wagon. Bucky, Steve, and Sam were staring at a man on fire who suddenly was no longer on fire and looked alarmingly just like Steve. Peter was flanked by not one, but two other Spider-Man’s and what looked to be a girl in a spider suit that was white and pink and black with turquoise. You were so confused. There was a man built like an orange stack of rocks, a beautiful blonde woman, and another brunette man with streaks of grey on his temples.
Then there was the Black woman with stunning white hair, a man in a wheelchair, another with claws coming out of his hands, and what looked like a giant blue beast.
Then you saw her. Natasha Romanoff stood among everyone, and you knew immediately this wasn’t your Natasha. Her hair was short like you remembered, but it was back to being red. Her armor was unlike anything you’d seen her wear before. It looked apocalyptic. She looked tired. There was a sadness to her eyes that you’d never seen before.
Everything was so, so quiet, until you heard the whir of your father’s suit. Then suddenly, a gasp.
“Natasha?” Clint breathed when he stepped away from Tony and saw her.
Natasha turned her head. She looked to Clint and smiled softly, “Hey, stranger.”
It was rare to see Clint emotional. He was always so stoic. But that man collapsed to his knees right where he stood, sobs prompting his body to shake as he fell to the ground. Natasha holstered her weapons and quickly made her way over to Clint. He shook his head in disbelief, repeating over and over again that she wasn’t real.
Natasha rested her hand on his shoulder which prompted him to look up at her. When she touched his cheek, he reached out to touch hers. His thumb caressed her cheek, her lips, then he pulled away as he sobbed and Natasha wrapped her arms around him to hold him tightly to her.
Katy made her way over to the two of you. You were now leaning against Shangqi, who hugged Katy tightly and muttered that he was glad she was okay. Your attention was elsewhere, and Katy understood why. She said nothing as she watched you.
You were staring at your father. Tony looked around at this group of people, most of which felt like they were seeing yet another ghost. Tony’s head stopped as he spotted Steve. Quickly rushing over, he pulled Steve in for a hug that surprised everyone around.
“It’s good to see you, Cap,” Tony said. “I’ve missed my friend.”
Steve stuttered as he returned the hug, “I—yeah, Tony. It’s good to see you too.”
Tony pulled away and kept a hand on his shoulder, “Now, where’s my little girl?”
Steve glanced at Bucky and Sam who reached bowed their heads and took one step away from that shit show. Steve pointed across the way to you. Tony turned around and started to walk towards you. He left his suit behind as he stood in front of you, hands on your shoulders as he gave you a long, thoughtful look.
“I never thought I’d see you again,” Tony said softly. “I should’ve told you this before, and I never got the chance.  You, Y/N, you are my first greatest creation.”
And just like that, you shook the park that the Statue of Liberty was on so violently that the torch fell clean off of her. Tony pursed his lips and studied you. Since you had seen him, you were sad. Your eyes were full of tears, and you stared at him like you’d never seen him before.
After a moment, it clicked for him. He took a deep breath and nodded to himself, “I’m the one that died here, aren’t I?”
Tears fell as you nodded quickly, unable to form any words at the moment.
“That’s how it should’ve been,” He nodded and pulled you in for a tight hug.
That phrase from earlier, you’re alive, kept replaying in your head. Sniffling, you clutched onto him tightly as your eyes darted back and forth as you processed this.
“Wait,” you said. “I—I’m the one that died?”

Pairings/Characters: Shang-Chi x Stark!Reader, mentions: Bucky Barnes, Clint Barton, Katy Chen, Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Tony Stark x Daughter!Reader
Warnings: violence, fighting ,swears, angsty??
Summary:  In your dad’s universe, he wasn’t the one that died. What happened to you?
WC: 2,751
Tumblr media
Tony slowly pulled away from you. His hands slid back up to your shoulders as he stared at you. You were his little girl, and seeing you staring up at him with puffy red eyes and tears running down your face was crushing him.
“I died?” You repeated.
“Yes,” Tony said.
Doctor Strange looked at the two of you quickly, “Hey, wait. No, you guys shouldn’t — “
“You shut the fuck up, Strange,” you snapped. “World-class neurologist, dumb as a fucking bag of bricks! Two spells, two spells you’ve fucked up so far that have fucked with our lives. Talk to me when you learn what the fuck you’re doing.”
Strange’s head tilted back slightly in surprise. He opened his mouth to offer a snappy remark right back at you, but Sam reached out and put a hand on the man’s shoulder.
“I wouldn’t do that,” Sam whispered. “She learned to stop a person’s heart. It would not end well for you.”
He did not like the idea of letting this go, but in the interest of self-preservation, he didn’t make a smart comment. Instead, he rolled his eyes and created a portal back to the Sanctum, telling everyone to get inside so they could discuss what had happened there.
~*~
Of course, Stephen Strange had no idea how to reverse the spell. He didn’t know what to do. All he could tell everyone was that things were going to be different for a while, which wasn’t something that was very comforting to anyone considering what was going on. People were displaced from their own worlds and placed in a new one. Plus, everyone was learning that the multiverse thing was, in fact, real. This was a lot for anyone to take in.
And then there was you, staring at your dad the entire time, shocked that he was standing here. What were you going to tell Pepper, or Morgan? Could you even tell them? How the hell would that even go about? The amount of therapy alone everyone needed was going to be enough to put eight generations of therapists’ kids through school, you were sure of it.
Plus, god, you had a hard time looking at Natasha. She was your best friend for so many years. From the moment she entered Stark Industries until the day she died, that woman was as important to you as Clint was. You had barely processed her death yourself, and here she was, well, a version of her, standing there and listening to Strange drabble on and on, even elbowing Clint to make a face during Strange’s speech.
You excused yourself, muttering that he was boring you half to death. In doing so, you prompted everyone to agree that he was utterly obnoxious, prompting a bunch of them to split off. You exhaled slowly as you wandered around and found the kitchen in the Sanctum. Shangqi was hot on your trail with Katy, and you realized Tony was there as well only after you had poured yourself a glass of water and turned around.
“Hey, cupcake,” Tony said. He glanced around, an eye settling on Shangqi which made your husband stop and do a double-take.
“Are you sizing me up, really?” Shangqi asked.
Tony shrugged, “It’s weird. You’ve always had a thing for her. Now you’re married. Gross.”
Katy blinked, “Hold on. Mr. Iron Man Stark, sir, Tony, guy, did you just say that the evil little dark Shangqi from your world has a thing for your kid?”
Tony shuddered, “It was so annoying. We’d come across him, he’d flirt with you, do his little evil flirting shit, you’d flirt back if Steve was there for reasons that were too TMI that made me want to drown myself, rinse, and repeat.”
Katy found this hysterical while Shangqi was standing there wondering what the hell happened on Tony’s earth that made him the leader of the Ten Rings.
You, however, found no amusement in it. You cut straight to the unanswered question from earlier, “How did I die?”
Tony sighed, “Right, right. Well, we were fighting Thanos.”
“After the snap?”
Tony looked at you confused and shook his head, “No, there wasn’t a snap.”
“Huh?”
Tony leaned on the kitchen counter, “Steve filled in some parts for me. Well, Steve on my Earth, your husband. You thought I was dead when Thanos arrived, and he had taken everyone out. It was just you and Wanda left. Hell, you thought Steve was dead, too. Thanos and Wanda kept doing this dance with each other. He’d rewind time, she’d nearly kill him, and, from what I was told, you were just so angry and upset. You used a lot of your strength that day. Blasted Thanos back, you protected Wanda. You’d never really gone very dark before, but they told me that you were destroying his body from the inside out.”
“Oh,” you muttered. “And he killed me?”
“No,” Tony shook his head. “You killed yourself. All the strength you used to rip Thanos apart, destroy him and the gauntlet? Thanos was dead before he could use those stones again, and you gave yourself an aneurysm and died.” Tony looked down at the floor, arms crossed over his chest, “You’d never done that much before. Hadn’t even done anything close to that scale. You were so concentrated on using your power on Thanos alone and not spreading it everywhere else that seconds after Thanos was dead, so were you.”
“Holy shit,” Katy breathed and turned to stare at you. “God. So what did I even see of you today? I mean, that was amazing, but, is that, like, what, child’s play?”
“No,” Shangqi said quickly. “Because she got a nosebleed taking out that really big ugly looking thing before we hit the statue.”
You rolled your eyes, “That’s because I had already done a lot. I could probably do that now, easy. I almost destroyed the entire planet when —“
“When what?” Tony asked with a frown. “What happened?”
You chewed on your lip as you watched him, “You died. Thanos snapped and half of us were dead, myself included. Five years later, you guys fought again, and you snapped. It was too much for your body, your suit.”
Tony hummed as he mulled this over, “I guess we both have a bit of a martyr thing going for us, don’t we?”
You snorted and shrugged, “Yeah. I guess we do. Wonder where we get it from.”
“Your mother, obviously,” He remarked casually.
You nodded, then straightened up, “Wait, my mom. Is she?”
Tony glanced at you and shook his head, “Car accident when you were young.”
“That checks out,” you muttered darkly under your breath.
You two were very quiet. You almost weren’t sure what to do. He was your father, but he wasn’t. He technically wasn’t supposed to even be there. You wanted to get close to him and yank him back into your life. At the same time, you didn’t know if Strange was just going to magically fix one of his mistakes (finally) and send him away within the day.
Luckily for you, your father did not like awkward silences unless they were at the expense of someone. He lifted his head when he heard the crunching of potato chips. He spun around to see Shangqi and Katy trying to quietly, but failing, eat a bag of potato chips together. Your father turned around completely, one arm crossed over his chest with the other lazily pointed between you and Shangqi.
“So, how did this shit happen?”
Katy beamed and grabbed Shangqi’s shoulders with her greasy fingers, “Well, this one is a good little boy. His dad was the leader of the Ten Rings, but he’s dead now. Now Shangqi is a good boy who fights bad guys and loves your daughter very much.”
Tony blinked, “So your dad died and you didn’t take up his legacy? Weird.”
Shangqi frowned, “How is that weird?”
He shrugged, “You did it in my world.”
“Okay. That’s fair,” Shangqi muttered.
Tony hummed and stared at Shangqi wondering how this could have happened. On his Earth, you and Steve were it for each other. You two had such a magical relationship before your death that Tony couldn’t possibly have pictured somebody any better for his daughter.
You, on the other hand, were often used to your dad staring at people, usually men in your life, and making them horribly uncomfortable. So, you ignored him and outstretched your hand to Shangqi. He smiled and told you there was a tax to pay. You pouted while Katy made barfing noises. Shangqi grinned, leaned across the counter, and puffed out his lips. You chuckled and leaned forward to kiss him before shoving your hand into the bag and shoving the chips into your mouth.
“So,” Tony said after a moment, snatching the bag from you both to feed himself, “What did Steve do?”
“What do you mean?” Katy asked, “Like, here, on this…realm thing?”
“Why aren’t they married?” Tony asked. “No offense, kid, you seem way nicer than your evil counterpart, so far, but I thought my kid and Rogers were endgame. Did that never happen?”
You stared at your dad, “We got married. I got snapped away by Thanos. When I came back, after your funeral, your perfect son-in-law left me to go back in time to live out his life with Peggy without even telling me. Then he came back, and a spell from Doctor Strange made him young again. Oh, and he wants me back, apparently.”
Tony blinked twice, “You don’t say.”
“Yup,” the emphasis on the ‘P’ making your lips smack together. “Funny, isn’t it?”
“Rich, rich in humor, definitely,” Tony nodded. “Excuse me for a second.”
Tony left the kitchen and you realized what you had done. Your eyes lit up with delight as you started to chase after your dad.
“Wait, what’s happening?” Katy asked as she followed you, and Shangqi was hot on her heels.
“Everything I’ve ever wanted,” you sighed happily as you followed your dad all the way to the grand staircase.
Steve was sitting on the steps casually talking to Sam and Bucky. Tony was making his way towards him, and Steve sent him a smile, happy that this Tony seemed to actually like him. Before Steve could ask him what was going on, Tony reeled back and threw a fist into Steve’s perfect jaw.
“You left my daughter for some fucking pin-up you kissed once!?” Tony shouted as he started to pummel Steve.
“Oh, fuck that,” Sam muttered as he quickly moved away from the stairs.
Bucky followed his lead and moved away. He stood next to Katy who elbowed him, “Not gonna get in that?”
Bucky shrugged and shook his head, “Nah. I mean, oh, Sam, we should really help,” he said flatly as he crossed his arms over his chest.
“At the rate that’s going, we might have to,” Sam muttered.
“Tony!” Steve shouted as he was shoving the man back, “Tony, stop!”
“How could you of all people disrespect my daughter you geriatric piece of shit?” Tony yelled and grabbed him by the collar of his suit. “My little girl? For some woman you kissed once after how long, Rogers?! You fucking idiot!”
Shangqi slowly moved until he was standing next to you. You were smiling at the scene, hands resting on your hips as you watched your dad scream at Steve. This was just as satisfying as you had imagined. Shangqi took one look at your face, shook his head, and crossed his arms over his chest, “Is this everything you wanted, babe?”
“I’m loving it,” you looked over at him and nudged him. “Come on. You don’t love this?”
“Oh, no, I do.” Shanqi sighed and draped his arm around your shoulders, “I love seeing your father beat your ex-husband. But, wow, you really are a daddy’s girl, huh?”
You shrugged your shoulders, “You want to open that can of worms, mama’s boy?”
He shook his head, “Nope.”
“Good boy.”
~*~
Everyone ended up going to the compound that night. You didn’t know what to tell Pepper. You told her the suit caught on the news was an old suit of Tony’s that Wednesday found and was piloting. You were confident she didn’t believe you, but you were happy with the fact that she was not pressing this issue. Maybe she needed time to understand this as well.
For right now, you were at the compound with the entire team. You’d offered space to the others who had entered, but both groups said they knew places they could go to, which was…odd, but given that the guy in the wheelchair, who you learned went by Charles Xavier, seemed to have everything figured out, you really didn’t feel like pressing for more info.
Your brain was occupied as it was.
You went to the kitchen in the middle of the night intent to get some sweets. When you got there, you already saw Clint sitting on top of the counter with a spoon breaking into a fresh carton of ice cream. He looked at you, reached across to pull open the utensil drawer with his foot, and gestured for you to grab a spoon.
Snorting, you grabbed a spoon and jumped onto the counter to sit beside him and eat ice cream, “Can’t sleep either?”
“Well, I saw my dead wife today, so, no.”
You frowned, “Sorry. How ya doing?”
Clint shrugged, “We were just best friends where she came from. We weren’t married.”
“That’s gotta hurt,” you muttered.
“You weren’t even her best friend. Not close at all, actually.”
“Okay, thats super rude,” you muttered.
“Right?” He smiled and shook his head. “Yeah. She was the last man standing on the entire planet. She got sent here. And she’s my wife…but not my wife.”
You pursed your lips, “This sounds like you need chocolate syrup.”
“And whipped cream, please.”
You grabbed the sweets and drowned the ice cream in more sugar. You both stuffed your faces, and sat in silence for awhile.
“So, your dad’s back. Call your therapist yet?”
“Shut up,” you muttered. “You’re right here, anyway.”
Clint rolled his eyes, “What are you going to tell Pepper?”
“I don’t know. I almost don’t want to, but I know I have to. This is a mess.”
“Tell me about it. How’s the husband feeling about it?”
“Eh, he loved seeing Steve get his ass kicked. He’s pretty happy about it. Doesn’t love all the nicknames, though.”
“Eh, could be worse,” Clint shrugged. “He’ll get used to it.”
“If Tony sticks around,” you mumbled.
Clint pursed his lips, looked up at you, and raised his spoon full of ice cream, “Cheers.”
“To what?”
“I don’t know. Whatever this bullshit is?”
You shrugged. You clinked your spoon against his. You two finished the carton of ice cream and went your separate ways. When you went back to your room, you climbed into bed next to Shangqi and placed your hand on his chest.
He hummed as he pulled you in close, “How was that midnight snack?”
You sighed, “Cold. Tasty.”
“Bring me any?”
“We ate it all. How about a Pop-Tart?”
He hummed and opened his mouth. Snicerking, you opened the package and shoved a piece into his mouth. Shangqi chewed and rolled over so he was facing you. He pulled you closer again and buried his face into your neck as he inhaled your scent, “Doing okay, honey?”
“I don’t know…” you trailed off. “My dad’s asleep a few door’s down. Technically not my dad. But, yeah. He’s there after not being here for so long.”
“He’s not asleep.”
“What?”
Shangqi yawned, “Threw the door open, barged in, demanded that we be decent, said to not be as stupid as Capcicle, then he left and said he was going to try to sleep. No idea why. I think he’s trying to scare me.”
You groaned, “That man is going to sit in the garage all night and pass out in three hours.”
“Oh, sounds like someone I know.”
“Shut up,”
He chuckled and kissed your forehead, “One step at a time, babe. You talk to Pepper, first. If Morgan’s around, I’ll go play with her, keep her distracted.”
“Don’t slip up. You know how Morgan tricks you.”
“I think I can outsmart a tiny little kid, babe.”

A Double Take
A/N: For everyone waiting for Dark!Shangqi and Y/N Stark to meet. It’s here.
Okay. So this is in my Stark!ReaderVerse! Feedback, as awlays, extremely appreciated and desired.
TAG LIST: I do not.
Pairings/Characters: Shang-Chi x Stark!Reader/ Dark!Shang-Chi x Reader
Warnings: Flirting, talk about sex, fighting, violence
Summary: You decide to take a break, but trouble just always seems to find Y/N Stark with a special visit through the Multiverse.
WC: 2,756
Tumblr media
You needed a break. Between learning that the Multiverse really existed, to Tony and Natasha coming back into your life, you were done. Well, maybe done wasn’t the right way to classify it.  But this was stressful, as was hiding all of these new, well, people in this world. They couldn’t be sent back, not yet. Strange was working on it. However, from what you knew, Natasha had nothing to even go back to. It was a world where she was the only one.
And your father? Well, he’d be going back to a world without you, where the grief and the stress took Pepper and their unborn daughter. Tony felt like he had nothing to go back to as well. They wanted to stay, that much was clear, and no one was quite sure how to deal with this.
But, people would find out, eventually, and you figured, even though you hated him, this was a good way to cover for Steve as well so he didn’t spend more of his life in hiding, even if you had enjoyed him suffering a little more.
To get away from all of that, Shangqi suggested you both went away for a little bit. You agreed fairly quickly. It was going to be just the two of you. No Katy, no Bucky or Sam joining in and turning your vacation into a mission, it was just going to be the two of you away together, and your destination of choice?
“I can’t believe I’m in London,” Shangqi laughed. “It really is super rainy out here, though. Is that why you picked it? Want to live out some emo fantasy?”
You snorted, “No, I just wanted an excuse to keep you under the covers.”
Shangqi laughed. He reached across the table and took your hand in his. He brought it up to his mouth to bite your knuckles playfully before kissing them, “Honey, please. I’m more than just a sex tool for you.”
“Are we sure about that?” You teased. “I mean. It’s not a bad tool, ya know. Some men would love for me to use them.”
“Well you can go find some of those men then, those men who just want to be nothing more than an object for you.”
“Well, if you insist — “
“No, no, I’m kidding. Use me all you want,” He laughed and pulled your chair closer to him. “I’m all yours, babe.”
You grinned and leaned over to kiss him. Shangqi smiled softly, closed his eyes, and held your chin as his lips gingerly pressed against yours. The two of you took a leisurely time in finishing your coffee before heading out on more adventures together.  You both went on a Jack the Ripper tour, which made Katy infuriatingly jealous when you sent her pictures about it.
However, you both had different interests. You wanted to go to the Natural History Museum, but Shangqi was interested in seeing a football game that day. Chelsea was playing that afternoon. You really didn’t want to, you knew you’d be bored, but he seemed like he really wanted to go. Plus, you knew he’d be bored to death at the museum.
“You go,” you told him. “Go see the game. I’ll go to the museum. Why don’t we meet up again later tonight for dinner? We can meet at 8, gives us time to do some other things the other might not be interested in. I’ll text you some restaurants and you can tell me which one you want to go to.”
Shangqi sighed happily as he grabbed your hands and held them against his chest, “How did I get the coolest wife ever?”
“Eh, you’re cute,” you teased. “Also, what makes you think I’m not just tired of you?”
He gasped, “Baby. You trying to get rid of me already?”
“Nah,” you kissed him on the lips. “But we can do our own things. I still got the whole rest of the week with you, and we’ve got a few other countries to go to. Enjoy the game, babe.”
He sighed happily, cupped your face, and pressed a tantalizingly long kiss on your lips. He pulled away soundly, kissed your forehead, and happily ran off in another direction towards the stadium. You shook your head and went off to find a cab to take you to the museum.
~*~
There was something so nice about being a Stark sometimes. Well, often you had a lot of attention on you that you didn’t like to deal with, and you pawned it off on your dad every single time. However, when it came to finding the best places to eat? You didn’t care. You threw that Stark name out there if it meant you were going to get a seat at an amazing restaurant. Sometimes it worked in your favor and you were amazed. Other times, they served a soup spoon’s worth of food as an entree and you left feeling incredibly hangry.
For now, you were at the restaurant you had settled on with Shangqi. You had gotten there first. You were on the bottom level of the restaurant. It was dark, secluded, dimly lit by candles. It was definitely for their wealthier clientele given all the privacy that was available. Quite frankly, you just really, really liked how it looked.
As you were perusing the wine list, you noticed someone heading towards you. You glanced up and saw your husband heading towards you with a purposeful stride. He wore an all black suit, the top two buttons undone, his hair combed and polished, different than how he had looked, all disheveled and giddy earlier that morning.
“You look amazing,” you blurted out as you stared at him. “I—I didn’t even realized you had packed that suit.”
“I’ve got to surprise you somehow, don’t I?” He smirked as he hovered over you, eyes slowly scanning you from head to toe. “You look absolutely ravishing.”
You turned bright red under his gaze in the restaurant. Your eyes followed him as he took the seat across from you, his eyes still glued on you almost like he’d never seen you before. “That’s a new dress, isn’t it? You weren’t wearing that this morning.”
“Yeah, I, I uh, I saw it in a shop. Decided to get it on a whim.”
“Good. You look like a goddess,” he replied as he leaned forward and stared at you. “You deserve to get whatever you want.”
You laughed a little and pushed your hair behind your ear, “Did you get hit in the head with a soccer ball at that game today, Shangqi? You’re smoother than usual.”
He paused for a moment to study you almost like he was trying to pick the perfect thing next to say. “I clearly don’t worship you as much as I should. I’m trying to play catch up. How am I doing so far?”
“I’m not complaining,” you giggled and noticed the sommelier approach. “Oh, I was looking at the wine list. I was thinking — “
“I’ve got it,” he raised is hand slightly to you to signal he had this covered. You leaned back and watched him as he ordered the exact wine you had wanted. You were impressed. You raised an eyebrow, and he noticed this. “I browsed the wine list online on my way here. I had a feeling.”
“Wow. Put on a full suit, picked out the wine. You’re extra smooth tonight, Shangqi.”
“Yes, is it working?”
You hummed, “It’s something.”
He smirked at you, and you felt like he was piercing your soul. You were putty in his hands. Shangqi could have his smooth moments. Especially when you both were undercover in Maripoor. He has it in him to be more suave and dark and seductive, you knew that, you just didn’t expect it to be happening right now.
You also didn’t expect him to maintain eye contact with you as he drank his wine. He stared at you like you were ice water in a desert. His tongue ran across his bottom lip, and his eyes flickered down to gaze at your body once more before he decided to be even more bold. He stood up from his seat and went over to your side. You were both sitting in a small, intimate booth, and he moved you over to sit next to you and wrap an arm around you.
“What are you doing?” You asked as his fingertips played with the ends of your hair.
“I can’t get enough of you, baby,” Shangqi remarked as he studied you. “I’m a lucky man, aren’t I?”
“I’d say so.”
“I know so,” his hand gingerly held your chin and turned your face  so you were looking up at him, “You’re the smartest woman I know. You are so strong. You are stronger than anyone around. You’re a goddess, my love. All that power, that intelligence. You are ethereal, and you could have men kneeling at your feet at your every whim.”
Red in the face, you chewed on your lip and leaned back slightly, “You saying you’d get on your knees for me, Shangqi?”
He leaned in close, his lips ghosting over yours, “Say the word and I’ll show you how much I mean it.”
“Yeah? Right here, right now?” You snorted.
His other hand landed on your knee and started to slowly creep up your thigh, “Do you want to find out?”
Your eyes widened, “I believe you. Wow. No need for us to get arrested for public indecency.”
“But what a story it would be, wouldn’t it? These people would be so lucky for a show like that.”
That was off-brand, even for your goofy, horny husband. You brow furrowed slightly as you studied him. Your hand rested on his chest, and unbeknownst to you, he knew you were trying to monitor his heartbeat while you spoke to him, likely about to question him.
“Are you sure you’re feeling okay?” You asked.
“When I’m with you, I feel amazing,” He replied.
His heart rate was perfectly fine. He wasn’t lying, but something seemed off. Before you could ask him another question, you could hear shouting. You leaned over to your side to see who was rushing towards you with waiters following him, while Shangqi rolled his eyes and slowly turned around.
In front of you, you saw Shangqi. Again. He was wearing what he wore earlier, minus his wedding ring. His hair was disheveled, he looked like he’d been dragged through dirt. His sleeves were rolled up, rings on his arms, and he looked furious.
“Get the fuck away from my wife,” he seethed as he glared at the man sitting beside you.
Your eyes flickered back and forth between the two men quickly. It was almost like a little timer went off in your head. Your eyes widened and you swore loudly as you went to stand up. The Shangqi next to you, however, quickly pulled you down and kept you beside him.
“You don’t deserve her. You poor, pathetic excuse for, well, me,” he laughed. “Just like Captain Rogers, you are nowhere near good enough for her. I’m doing you a favor,  Shaun. Move along. Let a real man take it from here.”
Shangqi was huffing and puffing, “That’s not my name.”
“No?” He raised an eyebrow, “It was my understanding that in this world you left that namesake behind and adopted a new identity. Isn’t that right, Shaun? You’re no leader. You’re no man. You don’t deserve Y/N Stark, but I do.”
“Ohhhh fuck….” you mumbled to yourself as your dad’s words came flooding into your brain. Once again you tried to pull yourself away from this other Shangqi, but his grip on you was tight. Huffing, you put a little more force into your shoving, and you knocked him clear out of the booth before sliding out and preparing yourself for a fight.
“She doesn’t want you.” Shangqi said. “All of this bullshit? She doesn’t like that. She doesn’t need a guy like you in her life.”
“No?” This other version of Shangqi laughed and leaned against the wall ever so casually. “Let’s check that seat then, see how wet I got her while you were all tied up.”
Your husband lost his mind. He shot his rings at this darker version of himself, who easily side stepped them with a maniacal laugh. “Is that all you’ve got? Fine, I’ll play. I’ll even make it easier for you.”
He opened his black suit jacket and revealed the rings hidden carefully in the lining of the jacket. The rings floated out and surrounded him in a dark glow. He rolled up his sleeves and stared at Shangqi as the rings circled him.
“I’ll take two away.”
Suddenly two of the rings shot towards you in the time it took you to just blink. The bands slipped onto your wrists as you were trying to force them away. With a flick of his wrist, the new Shangqi had you pinned against the wall with your wrists over your head.
“Sorry, my love. I don’t want you to get caught in the crossfire.” He spared a glance in your directions, shamelessly admiring you from head to toe, “But at least you look so good like that, just for me.”
“Son of a bitch,” your husband ran at him. Charging, he threw an absolute flurry of fists at this man, who met each and every attack of his. The two were painfully evenly matched, because they were quite literally fighting themselves.
In the meantime, you were focusing your power on the rings. You needed to get them off of you and free yourself without bringing the entire place down. Fueled by only a glass of wine and some bread, you shut your eyes, took a deep breath, and managed to launched the rings off of your wrists and send them through the ceiling.
Oops.
You fell down on one bended knee. You looked up and could see both men stuck in a stalemate with one another. As your husband had his copycat in a hold so he could rip his wedding band off of him and take it back, the other Shangqi hit your husband with a cheap blow between the legs and seemed very intent on using the rings to smash his head in. You quickly ran in front of him, held up your hands, and managed to stop the rings midair. Now the two of you were in a stalemate, and you couldn’t miss how this man’s eyes lit up.
“See? You are a god. That man is no true holder of the rings. That boy is beneath you, love. I’m what you truly need.”
You tilted your head to the side as you stared at him, “You will never be my husband.”
“You’ll see.” Shangqi shot you a devilish wink before using the rings to break through the ceiling and launch himself out of there. You considered chasing after him, but you turned around and knelt down in front of your husband.
“I can’t believe I kicked myself in the balls,” your husband groaned as you helped him sit up. “Fuck. Baby, are you okay?”
“Are you?” You asked quickly as your hand rested against his cheek. “I’m so, so sorry honey. I didn’t know. I mean, I suspected right when you got here — I mean — I — it was like Madripoor.”
Shangqi sighed dramatically, “I knew you liked that suit, and you said you didn’t,” he teased.
You rolled your eyes. “I’m sorry. Can you forgive me?”
He thought about it, “Is it cheating if it’s an alternate version of me?”
“Can we say it’s not because it was an accident and I love you?” You squeaked.
“I’ll let it slide,” he replied as he rubbed the back of his head. “Goddess, huh? So that’s your thing too? Got a little praise kink going that I don’t know about?”
You smacked his arm, “Are you okay?”
“Head hurts. He took me by surprise, but I’ll be fine.”
“Come on,” you helped him to stand up and gently caressed the back of his head. “Let’s get you back to the hotel. I’ll take care of you.”
“I kind of feel like you should after this whole thing. I might be traumatized, babe. You were stepping out on me with me. That can mess with a man.”
You sighed and shook your head, “Never change, Shangqi.”

A Precious Teen
A/N: UHHHHH. Okay. So this is in my Stark!ReaderVerse! Feedback, as awlays, extremely appreciated and desired. I just needed something random, short, and silly to write so we have this mess now.
TAG LIST NOTES:  I have no idea how to efficiently make a tag lists and am lazy as shit, so I would recommend post notifications just bc i’m, well,…tired lazy person
Pairings/Characters: Shang-Chi x Stark!Reader, Peter Parker x Stark!Reader (PLATONIC), Katy Chen, mentions: Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, Steve Rogers
Warnings: fluff/crack drabble? I don’t know how to categorize it. swears.
Summary: Bringing Peter Parker to San Francisco seemed like a good idea at the time.
WC: 1,526
Tumblr media
“You know, I’m glad we made up, Ms. Stark,” Peter Parker said as he walked down the street with you. “I mean, yeah, my entire life is a mess and everything I once knew is either gone or just super different. And you kind of abandoned me completely after Mr. Stark died, which I guess makes sense because he’s your dad and you’re unstable — “
“Bro — “
“But I’m glad we can, like, hang out and do stuff again,” he said as he looked over to you and smiled softly. “Selfie?”
You chuckled and nodded, “Yeah, kid, we can take a selfie. And I’m glad we made up, too.”
“Well, you made up to me. I did nothing wrong. I’m actually the victim here,” Peter said as you stood behind him and grabbed his shoulders while leaning into the frame to smile.
“Peter, don’t make me embarrass you. I will tell the nearest stranger that you get tingles and don’t know what to do with them.”
“That’s not even —“
“I will lie.” You vowed.
He pouted before he started laughing. Grinning, you ruffled the hair on his head and continued your walk with him. You and Peter had finally made up after not speaking to each other since Tony’s funeral. Essentially, you had ignored him, much like you did Pepper and Morgan, because if anyone reminded you of your dad, it was the prodigy he had been working on, Peter.
You decided as part of making it up to Peter, and all his problems in New York, you’d steal him for a little while. You brought him down to San Francisco for a week of his spring vacation, and you decided you were going to show him something that would absolutely make him lose his mind completely.
“So am I meeting your boyfriend or something?”  Peter asked. “Happy said you had one, but he didn’t say who it was or anything. Is he, like, some famous guy? A tech genius? Oh, that journalist guy, Eddie Brock?”
You raised an eyebrow, “You really don’t know?”
“No. Should I?”
You chuckled, “You’re gonna love this.”
You two walked into the restaurant and you stopped by the front to look around. You spotted Shangqi sitting next to Katy, the two of them chatting over the menu before he saw you. Grinning, he waved you over and elbowed Katy. You grabbed Peter by the backpack and started to drag him with you.
“Hey, babe,” Shangqi stood up from his seat and pulled you in for a kiss. He gingerly cradled your face and pecked your lips twice, his third kiss lasting a few seconds longer before he pulled away. He looked around you to Peter and smiled brightly. “Hey. You must be Peter. I’m —“
“Holy shit,” Peter breathed. “You’re freaking Bus Boy!”
“Oh, no…” Shangqi’s smile faltered as he trailed off.
Katy, however, beamed. She grabbed Shangqi by the shoulders and nodded enthusiastically, “He absolutely is Bus Boy. That’s right. Hi, I’m Katy, and this is the one and only Bus Boy is right here. This was the boy on the bus and —“
“You were the driver!” His hands were in his hair, phone smacking him on the head but he didn’t care.  “Oh my god, you are, like, so freaking cool! Your driving is sick!”
“I know. I’m the Asian Jeff Gordon,” Katy beamed.
Peter looked up at you, “I can’t believe you’re dating bus boy.”
“I know, right?” You chuckled as Shangqi quickly pulled your chair out for you before he took his own seat. You and Peter were now sitting across from Shangqi and Katy, and before you could say anything else, Peter spoke up again.
“Wow. He’s kind of like Steve, huh?”
The water that had been on the table for you was now out of your mouth and all over Shangqi. Your boyfriend looked traumatized as he sat there processing this. In contrast, Katy’s eyes were so bright, her smile was so big, you really thought her face was going to explode.
“Please, please, please tell me more,” Katy said quickly.
“Please, no,” you whimpered.
“Oh, so not with the whole abandoning you for some English lady, but I mean, like, you know. He pulled out your seat, stood up to greet you. Fights super well, bet he’s protective, right?”
“Soooo protective,” Katy agreed. “Like, overly so. It’s overbearing, but she thinks it’s super hot.”
“Katy!” You growled.
All the while, Shangqi sat there dripping wet and quietly traumatized.
“Yeah, so, Steve, you know what I mean? She kind of has a type.”
You blinked, “Holy shit. I’m going to have to tell Aunt May you’re dead. Because I’m gonna kill you.”
Katy cackled, “You hear that, bro? Being a gentleman makes you Steve Rogers. I bet you hate yourself right now, don’t you? I mean, 15-year-old you would be so flattered, but present you definitely wants to set yourself on fire.”
Shangqi finally lifted a napkin to  dry his face and his clothes as he addressed Peter,” Thanks, Peter. I kind of appreciate that compliment.”
“Oh, yeah. Totally. I only meant the good stuff about him, not the awful part where he abandoned everyone in his life.”
Katy looked to you, still painfully smiling, “So how does it feel to know you basically went from White Steve to Asian Steve?”
You shook your head, “Stop, no. There’s no similarities there. He’s young. Steve is old. Steve is stubborn  and stupid.”
“Things that can be said about your boyfriend,” Katy said.
Shangqi rolled his eyes, “Thanks, Katy.”
“Just speaking the truth.”
You and Shangqi looked at each other. You shook your head and shrugged. You didn’t even know what to say aside from the fact that you were going to have to murder Peter as vengeance. Shangqi was just sitting there trying to process this and figure out whether that was concerning or somewhat flattering.
Peter smiled, “And now we’re even, (Y/N). So, Katy, right? What’s good here.”
While they talked over the menu, you leaned over the table  and grabbed your boyfriend’s hand. He did the same to you, squeezing your hand with a dazed look on his face that showed that he might be traumatized from this dinner.
“You’re dealing with drunk Stark, tonight, just so you know. I’m drinking a lot now,” You nodded firmly.
“Same,” he agreed. “Absolutely same, yeah.”
“Are we still doing karaoke after?” You asked.
“Well, yeah, now I need that to soothe my soul. Can I crash at your place after? I’m off tomorrow.”
“Yeah, absolutely. We’ll snuggle the trauma away and I’ll make pancakes in the morning if I’m not super hungover.”
“Great, great, good. Thank god,” He breathed as he brought your hand up to his to kiss your palm.
“Hey, not to interrupt this cute trauma bond,” Katy began. “But, just to be sure, you said tonight was going to be your treat, right…?”
You nodded, “Yeah. Still is.”
“Great,” Katy turned to Peter and grinned, “Kid. You’re gonna absolutely die.”
“Agreed,” you and Shangqi muttered under your breaths.
“Sick. Okay, so you order, Katy. I’m good with anything,” Peter nodded. “I just gotta take some pics. I gotta show my friends. Oh, let’s do one now!”
In the selfie that Peter took, he and Katy had the biggest, brightest grins on their faces. You and Shangqi, however, still looked like you were not even in your own heads as you  stared at anywhere but the camera, a forced smile on your face as you thought about his comparison to Steve.
“Man. I’m gonna tell the group chat to tell Steve what you said. I’m sure that won’t make him try to get you back some more at all,” Katy laughed as she grabbed her phone.
Now it was Peter’s turn to spit his water, comically enough, at Shangqi, before facing you, “He’s trying to get you back?!”
“I hate this,” Shangqi muttered under his breath.
You glared at Katy who cringed, “Oops? Oh, look, Bucky sent a crying laughing emoji! Good for him. He’s getting used to this stuff. Oh, Sam just said they should beat up Spider-Kid.”
“I agree,” You added.
“Same,” Shangqi added quickly. “Very much same. Katy, can you just order my usual? I’m going to stick my shirt under the hand dryer in the bathroom and hope that helps. Excuse me.”
Peter watched him leave, “See? Even excuses himself like Steve would.”
Katy giggled, “Kid, I like you. You help me bully them. You’re fun.”
“Thanks! I really try. You know, she abandoned me for how long now? I gotta play catchup.”
‘Mhm, yeah, his sister is like that too. Ten years he abandoned her.”
“That’s a lot of bullying she's’ gotta catch up on.”
“So much bullying, yeah, yeah. She’s super hot though. I’d let her bully me,” Katy shrugged and glanced at you, “ You good, (Y/N)?”
You laughed nervously at Katy before grabbing the attention of a nearby waiter, “Can I have three rum and cokes? Thank you.”
Katy blinked, “Oh, that’s not what I —“
“That’s for me,” you told her. “I need it.”

A Very Alarming Message
A/N: This takes place late in this series of one-shots. I haven’t written in so SOOO long. THis is just a quick drabble I put together because I really liekd Simu’s suit for hte Oscars
Okay. So this is in my Stark!ReaderVerse! Feedback, as awlays, extremely appreciated and desired.
Pairings/Characters: Shang-Chi x Stark!Reader, Steve Rogers x Stark!Reader
Warnings: swearsies, talks about sex, the usual inappropriateness associated with my brand.
Summary:  A favor for oyur father turns into, possibly, the best reat of your life, if not for Steve Rogers
WC: 2,172
Tumblr media
“Shhh,” you shushed Shangqi with a press of your finger against his lips. With furrowed brow, he stared at you in confusion, eyebrows lifting as he set down his Xbox Elite controller and grabbed your wrist to lower your hand.
“Babe,” he said quietly. “What are you doing?”
Chewing on your lip, you looked around his room in the East Coast compound while narrowing your eyes, “I sense a disturbance in the force.”
“Oh, here we go again.”
“I mean it!” You whined as he wrapped his arms around your middle and yanked you over the back of the sofa until you landed unceremoniously on his lap. “Something is off. It’s too normal here.”
Shangqi sighed heavily and leaned back against the armrest of the small sofa, pulling you back with him and nuzzling your hair with his nose, “Just because we haven’t had any drama doesn’t mean that something is wrong.”
“It’s too quiet here!”
“People are on missions, aren’t they?”
“We aren’t!”
“We were visiting your family.”
“Pft. Still. Even Steve! Steve hasn’t tried to hit on me once. Hasn’t called me doll at all. In fact, I haven’t even seen him!”
He raised an eyebrow as he leaned forward and prompted you to turn your head to face him, “Do you miss Steve hitting on you and trying to steal you away from me, Y/N?”
“What? No, it’s just shady as fuck. Don’t be a dumb, jealous boy, even though it can be hot sometimes.”
He huffed, “Maybe he finally got a hint and moved on. We’re married, you know.”
“Wait, we’re married?” You blinked innocently.
Pouting, Shangqi’s hands dove for your sides. He tickled you mercilessly while you screamed and thrashed on top of him, your body wiggling and jumping around as you tried to get off of him and away from him. Failing miserably, Shangqi pulled you back onto his lap and bear hugged you.
“Enjoy the peace while it lasts, baby,” he told you as he kissed the back of your neck. “Or enjoy me instead, right on the sofa. Or the bed. Or the floor? Either works.”
Before you could respond, Wednesday interrupted, “Baby Boss, Big Boss is calling.”
Shangqi snorted, “Baby boss!?”
“Shut up.”
“I’ve never heard that! When did this happen?”
“He hacked into her,” you whined. “Put him through, Wednesday.”
After a few seconds, you could hear your father, well…your clone father? Multiverse father? Something like that. Either way, you were so desperate to have your dad back, and Tony was so desperate to have his family back, you both fell into your roles fairly quickly, especially given the near-perfect parallel you both lived.
“Spawn,” Tony began. “Am I interrupting naked time?”
“…If I say yes, will that traumatize you?”
“Nope, I’d just making ‘riding the dragon’ jokes. Anyway, are you guys still in New York?”
“Depends,” you glanced to your husband who shrugged. “Why?”
“There might be a charity gala down at the Met tonight,” Tony began.
“Again? The fuck, it seems like they always have one.”
“I know, right? So annoying to go to them constantly, that’s why I RSVP’d you and Mushu to go in place of Pepper,” Tony said quickly.
“You did what!?”
“Hey, I’m not Mushu! I rode a dragon, I’m not one,” Shangqi argued.
“Not the hill you want to die on, honey,” you said quietly as you patted the top of his head. You cleared your throat and let your head roll back over your shoulders as you stared at the ceiling, “Why?”
“Well, Pepper’s been avoiding them, with good, mourning reasons —“
“Me too!”
“Actually, she told me you’ve been avoiding them because you called a group of old white men a racist and Smaug beat up a bunch of attempted robbers who tried to hit the place.”
You chewed on your bottom lip, “…See why I can’t go?”
“Thank you so much for being a dazzling, darling daughter and going to make sure Stark Industries stands strong with that girl boss attitude of yours. I know you guys don’t have anything ready. Luckily for you, Pepper’s got only the best designer contacts who pulled a couple of pieces together and are waiting at The Plaza for you.”
“Why are you like this?”
“I missed you too, spawn,” Tony cackled. “Have fun with Toothless over there.”
The call ended and Shangqi was sitting next to you looking moderately traumatized, “Why does your dad know so many dragons off the top of his head?”
“Don’t ask questions you’re not ready to hear the answer to,” you sighed and patted the top of his head. “Let’s get going. If we get through this without an incident, I’ll do that thing you really like.”
Shangqi’s eyes suddenly widened comically. He shoved you off of him and spun you around, ignoring your giggles of laughter as he gripped your shoulders and held you in place, “With the suit on?”
You laughed, “Yes, with the suit on.”
He groaned. Shangqi leapt forward, his lips crushing yours as he wrapped his arms around you and kissed you deeply. He jumped off of you with a loud pop of his lips and ran around the room shouting that it was time to go while he grabbed both of your bags and belongings. He damn near picked you up himself and was rushing out the door with you to get a move on, get through the night, and get to the promised fun that awaited him.
With your feet finally on the ground as you two went to your car, you paused mid-step. You set your foot down and turned around, staring at the building curiously as you started to use your powers.
“Hey, what’s going on?” Shangqi asked you after loading the bags in the trunk. “Forget something?”
“No, no,” you muttered. “I thought I felt something.”
“Like what?”
“Just another vibration. I don’t know. It was strong —“
“Well, Bruce is in the lab, he might be experimenting on something,” Shangqi reasoned. “He did say he was busy this weekend.”
“True,” you trailed off and shook your head. “Doesn’t feel like Bruce though.”
“You know how everyone feels?”
“Well, yeah.”
“That is so creepy,” he muttered under his breath. “Come on you little seismometer we’ve got a ball to go to.”
Ignoring the nagging feeling in your gut that something was wrong, you chalked it up to, maybe, you were, in fact, being overly paranoid. You climbed into the car and glanced at the compound one last time, almost like you were reassuring yourself that nothing was wrong. You shook your head, turned your attention to your husband, and grinned as he grabbed your hand and drove down to the city.
~*~
This wasn’t fair. This was punishment.
You and Shangqi had run off to different rooms to quickly get ready. Hair, makeup, clothing. Just deciding on what to wear from what they had available was stressful for you, but you landed on something you really, really liked after starting to become stressed and hopeless about it. After hair, makeup, and changing was done, you went to meet Shangqi who was out in the hall and ready to go.
Except that the second you opened the door, your eyes widened, and as you tried to walk out, you slammed your shoulder right into the doorframe and howled in pain. Ever the doting husband, he laughed at you before cooing and grabbing you to rub your shoulder soothingly.
“What was that?” He laughed, then it clicked. “Oh, this is like that time with the glasses in Madripoor, right?”
“No. Shut up,” you muttered as you stared at him.
It was, it absolutely was. Shangqi looked like something straight out of a magazine called ‘Sin.’ The red suit, the gold accents, the cute black bowtie and that confident, cute, dorky smile as he held your hand and stepped back to get a good look at you.
“You look incredible, babe.” He said as he admired you. “No one will be able to keep their eyes off of you. You look so —“
“If I’m wearing my suit tonight,” you began quietly as you looked him over from head to toe without a single ounce of shame. “Then you’re wearing that. And it stays on.”
He laughed, cheeks gathering a slight rose shade as he stared at you, “Really?”
“The shirt can go,” you told him as your hand ran up his bicep and down his chest, “but everything else stays. What is this strap? You know what, I don’t care. Do things with it —“
“Oh my god, Y/N,” he laughed as he started to tug you towards the elevator, “Stop, or we will never make it there.”
“I honestly wouldn’t mind ditching,” you confessed. “I will slam that emergency break in the elevator right now. Should I? Let me —“
“No, no, we should go.”
You blinked in surprise as you lowered your hand from the panel and leaned back against the elevator wall. Shangqi shook his head, a smile tugging at the corner of his mouth as he stared at the ground.
“You are acting like an adult. I’m surprised,” you remarked.
“Just trying to get on your dad’s good side, is all,” he admitted. “I thought winning over Clint and Pepper would be the end of it, but, uh, well, he surprised me.”
You cooed. You leaned over to rest your head on his shoulder as you rubbed his chest sweetly, “My sweet man. Don’t worry, he likes you.”
“Sure doesn’t feel that way. I don’t think he knows my name.”
“He’s adjusting to realizing you’re not an evil villain obsessed with me here, but I know he likes you. We’d have known if he didn’t.”
“Really?”
“Oh, yes. He would’ve run you out of here already. He’s very persistent.”
“I….wow, how charming.”
Arriving at the MET, the two of you were, naturally, the talk of the town. Y/N Stark and her Avenger boyfriend, which was a step up from his previous nicknames: Bus Boy, Y/N Stark’s Boyfriend, Y/N’s Husband. Maybe one day they’d actually bother to learn his name.
This time, the event went smoothly, but not for a lack of Shangqi trying. When he realized just how smitten you were with this red suit of his, he just couldn’t let it go. Every so often his hand would brush a little too low on your backside. He’d lean in and whisper in your ear, steal a quick peck on your neck when no one was looking, He was a menace, openly flirting with you, handing you drinks, a hand always on you somewhere no matter what.
Plus, he was doing much, much better this time around than the first time he went to one of these things with you. He was far more relaxed and sure of himself now than he was in the past. After all, now he was here as the dutiful husband, admiring his intelligent, charming wife as she conversed, dazzled, charmed her way around the room. Although, after most every conversation you usually leaned over to your husband with a horrible, snarky remark that would make your father proud and Pepper sigh heavily.
You excused yourself at one point to the restroom, warning Shangqi not to follow you and be a menace. He laughed, but shot you a wink which had you wondering if you were going to partake in yet another museum quickie.
After doing your business, you touched up your makeup in the mirror and checked your phone. Just as you were about to pocket it in your clutch, it began to ring. Frowning when you saw the name, you quickly answered and brought it to your ear.
“Someone better be fucking dying, Rogers,” you snapped.
You could hear him chuckle on the other end, “Charming as ever, doll.”
“Why are you calling?”
“I just wanted to know,” Steve began, clearing his throat. He sounded like he was…nervous? Afraid? You couldn’t tell, “I just wanted to know, when was the last time you called me Stevie?”
“Stevie?” You howled with laughter. “I have never called you that. Who the fuck do you think you are, Stevie Nicks? Please, you could never.”
You could hear him exhale on the other line, “I figured.”
You rolled your eyes, “Okay, enough of the melancholy. I’m at an event and you’re taking up precious time, here. Did you need something?”
“Yeah,” Steve scratched the top of his head and looked around the room he was in quickly. It pained him to do this. He didn’t want to. He wanted to be selfish all over again and keep this to himself, have the happy life he really, truly wanted. But the last time he tried that, he destroyed you, and the two of you were never able to come back from it together. He had to do this.
“We have a problem, Y/N.” Steve said quickly, “I need your help, please.”

Sam shook his head. He glanced over to Bruce who was silently expressing his disappointment as he rubbed the bridge of his nose and exhaled slowly.
“That was not the way to go about this at all,” Bruce said out loud. “You guys shouldn’t have ambushed her.”
“She’d never have agreed to sit down with him, we needed to surprise her with this. I just didn’t think you were going to come out here confessing your love for her again, Steve, I thought you were just going to apologize and admit you’re an idiot.”
Steve shook his head, “No, I don’t want to hold my tongue with her. I just didn’t expect her to show up with a boyfriend. Are they serious?”
Bruce pursed his lips and shrugged, “We don’t really talk as much unless it’s about rebuilding.”
Sam, however, nodded, “Yeah, they are. I’ve seen them together. It’s serious, and he’s really, really devoted to her.”
Steve hummed, “But is she devoted to him?”
“Dude —“
“I’m just asking.”
Sam sighed, “Yeah, she is, man. Honestly, they’re a good fit. He’s helped her deal with a lot, deal with you.”
Steve sighed, “I get it. You’re mad at me —“
“Look, you made your choices, man, but the way you did it? I don’t agree with it. Regardless, it’s done. What’s done is done and it looks like she’s done with you. Springing that on her like that was messed up, and you know it, because I know you’re well aware of how your ex-wife is.”
Steve cringed at the word ‘ex-wife’, and it made him feel the guilt he’d been trying to repress for decades. Obviously, this was all his choice. He decided to do it. He decided to go back in time and live out his life with another woman because he just needed to know. Peggy was his biggest ‘what if.’ He spent five years without (Y/N) and he made himself move on. He forced himself to repress those feelings and move on, because there was no way to go back. You were gone.
And then suddenly you were back, just like that. You were back, but at the same time he had the chance to go back, to see her, to know what if. For a man who always feared how he didn’t belong, he finally had the chance to go back and live the life he thought he was supposed to, and he lived it until its completion.
And, yet, there was still an empty feeling inside, because the life he had always wanted: a home, a loving wife, domestic bliss without alien invasions or wearing the suit and being a symbol for the world. He just had the chance to be Steve, and he thought he wanted it. He did. He does, but he realized at the end of it all that empty, dark feeling inside of him was because he lived with a mistake for decades, and that mistake was thinking he could live that life with anyone else but you.
“I love her, Sam,” Steve said quietly. “If there’s a chance to get her back, I have to try.”

Outside, Shangqi was looking around frantically. There was no sight of you. He couldn’t even find footsteps of you. He felt a panicked feeling in his chest as he wondered where you could’ve gone so quickly. He took his phone out of his pocket and started to call your phone and realized that there was no way you’d answer at a time like this. He knew you were upset, and he was realizing very quickly you were doing that thing the Starks liked to do: run from their feelings.
You just happened to be very literal with it.
He placed another phone call as he started to walk around the new compound for any sort of clue. After three rings someone answered the call and he shut his eyes in relief.
“Hey! You guys miss your flight or something?” Katy’s voice asked. “Tell me you did and that you’re now going to go pick up New York pizza and bring it back — wait, how can you miss a flight on a private jet —“
“Katy,” Shangqi said quietly.
Katy’s eyes widened. She shoved her brother away from her by grabbing his face and throwing him on the sofa. She raced to her room and slammed the door shut, locked it, and sat on her bed as she put it on speaker and she started packing a bag.
“What happened? Are you hurt? Is (Y/N) hurt? Give me the word I will be there right now.”
“I—I—no—I don’t know where to begin. I don’t even know if I can say this on the phone?” Shangqi laughed and ran his hand through his hair. “Katy —“
“Spit it out, asshole!”
“Her ex is back,” Shangqi explained. “He’s back. He’s not old or anything. He’s….he’s the same as he was when he left.”
Katy’s jaw fell open, “Hold on.” Katy crossed her legs on the bed and covered her mouth for a moment, “The ex. The ex-husband?”
“That’s the one.”
“The iconic one?”
“Yes.”
“America’s—“
“Katy,” he groaned.
“Yeah, yeah, sorry,” Katy stared ahead of her at the wall, “Holy shit. How? Okay. Tell me later. Wait, no, tell me that now. No—just—are you okay? Is she okay?”
Shangqi laughed, “He’s the definition of a perfect man who wants her back. I feel great.” His bitter laughed continued again as he walked the compound, “She stepped out for a breath. She kind of almost threw Bucky out a window. Now I can’t find her. I can’t find Bucky. His bike is gone. There’s no trail — I don’t know what to do.”
“You’re not thinking clearly,” Katy said knowingly. “She’s definitely gone. She’s a runner, she ran somewhere, but she probably didn’t run. She probably used her powers, which is unfair, because I never get to see her be badass in person. Which is bullshit.”
Shangqi swore, “You’re right. She would do that.”
“Yeah. Maybe she kidnapped Bucky? Or he went on his bike after her?”
“I doubt it. I didn’t even hear the bike or see the trail — shit,” Shangqi stopped walking when he saw a body laying underneath a bike several yards away. “I think I found him. I don’t think he’s dead — but she definitely did something.”
Katy whistled, “Damn. She is not doing well. Keep me updated, okay? Should I come over? I can get on a flight. I remember where the compound is.”
“I don’t want to burden you with this. It’s not about me anyway, it’s —“
“Hey,” Katy said quickly. “You’re my best friend. You’re surrounded by her people. I know she’s your girlfriend, and that’s her ex, but this affects you too. Sam and Bucky like you too, but we’re still the new kids on the block. I’m coming down. Okay? I’m here for you — both of you.”
Shangqi nodded as he started walking towards what he assumed was Bucky, “Thank you, Katy.”
“Absolutely,” Katy said. “I also want to see what that guy looks like in person. See you in a few hours!”
Shangqi shook his head as he shoved the phone into his pocket. He ran over to Bucky just as the man grabbed the motorcycle with one hand and flung it over himself and to the side. Bucky groaned as he sat up and cracked his back, turning his head to see Shangqi as he caught up to him.
“You okay?” Shangqi asked as he extended a hand to him.
Bucky nodded, muttering a quiet thanks as he helped him up, “Yeah, yeah, I’m fine. She didn’t try to kill me, just tried to get me away.”
“She does that, pushing people away,” Shangqi muttered.
“Keeps you close, s’far as I’ve seen,” Bucky said and cleared his throat. “Look, man, I — “
“You walked us into an ambush back there,” Shangqi said. “I thought we were cool, at least enough for you to respect me, respect her, but I get it, Steve’s your best friend —“
“It’s not like that, Shangqi, I swear,” Bucky said quickly. “Steve wanted to talk to her, he said he wanted to explain himself. He never said he was still in love with her, had feelings for her, nothing like that. He didn’t say anything like that when he first came back. We had no idea he was going to do that, I swear.”
Shangqi studied him for a moment before nodding hesitantly. Bucky extended his hand to him to shake, a show of good-faith and earnestness that he really was not trying to break them up.
“I meant it when I said I liked the two of you together. Between all the death and how she just runs from her feelings, a lot of her support is gone. You make her deal with her shit and feel okay doing it. It’s not really the Stark way, it’s a new way, and it’s good.”
Shangqi snorted, “Considering I’ve been lying about who I am for over ten years, that’s shocking to hear.”
Bucky rolled his eyes, “That’s nothing. She spent a lot of time around other assassins, you’re fine.”
“Yeah, she mentioned some names earlier. Clint, Nat?”
“Natasha,” Bucky nodded once and gestured for him to follow him away. “Clint, yeah. Those are her actual best friends.”
Shangqi’s eyes flew open, “I thought that was you and Sam.”
Bucky laughed and shook his head, “No, no. I mean, I guess now we became her default, after everything that happened. We got closer because she married Steve. I mean, all of us were together so much, you know? It all became a big family, but way before me and Sam, even before Steve, there was those two. Uh, Nat died — Nat sacrificed herself. Clint was…Clint was devastated. He and (Y/N) didn’t really talk about it, and they haven’t really spoken to each other.”
Shangqi chewed on his lip as he realized how little he really knew about you even after all this time, “Okay. Does he live around here?”
“Uh, he has a farm out in Iowa.  Last I heard he’s got a place in Brooklyn, too.”
“Would she see him?”
Bucky blinked, “Well, he didn’t walk her into an emotional ambush.”
“And he’s not currently at home with her impressionable, genius young sister.”
“And step-mom who would absolutely put her suit on and kill Steve,” Bucky nodded. “Huh, nice work, Shangqi. Let’s go pay him a visit.”
~*~
You landed with a soft thud and sniffled as you dragged your feet through the snow. You went and sat under a tree that you had sat under dozens and dozens of times before. This was too much for you. You just had the most emotional week of your life where all you could do was think about how much you missed your dad. Now, your friends shove you in front of your ex-husband who says he wants you back in front of your boyfriend, who is nothing but perfectly poise as he still takes care of you.
You felt like your own heart was fighting against you at this point.
It was beating so fast and you didn’t know what to do. Had this been years ago when your dad was still alive, you would’ve ran to him in the lab. He would’ve poured you a glass of booze, handed you a wrench, and told you to go crazy and work out your feelings. Sometimes you’d tell him what was wrong. Other times, you wouldn’t, but, somehow, he just always knew what the problem was, he just never forced you to say it.
Then again, Tony Stark was nothing if not extremely nosey, so he always knew because he was always snooping and hovering and doting over you. And you really wanted nothing more than to exactly that with him, but you couldn’t. And now you felt like maybe, just maybe, the healthy thing to do for once would be to talk and process these feelings out loud. But who? You didn’t want to put this on Shangqi, you’d done that once before. You couldn’t look at Bucky or Sam right now. Bruce — you didn’t want to test his temperament.
You could go to Pepper, but you’d left with such a positive end, and you really, really didn’t want to risk getting too upset and accidentally ruining their home. Pepper told you that you shouldn’t run anymore, that you stay and deal with things, and yet you couldn’t bring yourself to go to her. You really wanted to talk to someone who understood you and wasn’t going to interfere like you felt Pepper would out of maternal instincts.
Yes, even you were certain Pepper would kill Steve.
You just — you needed to talk to someone. You needed someone who knew you.
Your fingers were shaking as you brought up your phone. A process that would take so little time took much longer to do just because you were panicking and freaking out. Even the tree you were leaning on shook, and you brought the phone up to your ear, but it was too hard to hold. You ended up hugging your knees to your chest and setting the phone on top of them and putting it on speaker phone.
A voice you recognized all too well answered, “Barton.”
“Hi, your voice squeaked quickly.”
There was a very pregnant pause, “(Y/N)?”
“Hi, yes. Sorry. I’m freaking out and I need someone to talk to. I’m sorry I didn’t talk to you after the funeral and I ghosted you like I did everyone else, but it was a lot and there was so much death and —“
“It’s okay,” Clint said, interrupting your verbal vomit. “It’s okay, Stark.  You’re okay. It’s not like I was running to check on you either.”
You laughed dryly, “Your wife died for you.”
Clint huffed, “She died for everyone.”
“Yeah,” you trailed off. “I’m sorry. I didn’t help you.”
“I didn’t help you, and I’m supposed to be the contracted big brother,” he joked. “You lost Nat too, and Tony, and Steve and Wanda’s —“
“Off the grid, “You finished and sniffled. “Steve’s back.”
Clint hummed, “So that’s the panic attack I’m hearing, huh? What do you mean ‘back’?”
“I mean he looks exactly like he did the day he left.”
“How?”
“Doctor Strange fucked up a spell apparently? I don’t know. He left as soon as he saw me. I’m so confused.”
“Asshole,” Clint muttered under his breath, causing you to snort. “Okay. Just breathe with me Stark. You’re okay. I’m sure you already assaulted him.”
You laughed and rubbed under your eyes with your sleeve, “I stopped his heart.”
“That’s bad ass,” Clint mused. “Look at you all grown up, kid. I remember when you used to shake that place out in Malibu when a scary movie was on.”
You scoffed, “That was one time. And it wasn’t because of the scary movie. It’s because someone was trying to break in and get my dad.”
“I know, I know,” Clint said quickly. “Steve said something, didn’t he? You wouldn’t be like this if he was just back and that was it.”
You cleared your throat, “Sam and Bucky basically walked me into the lion’s den where Steve was waiting to tell me that he loved me and wanted me back.”
“What an asshole.”
“I know!” You said quickly. “I just — yeah.”
“Sam and Bucky really did that to you?”
“Bucky claims he had no idea Steve was going to do that.”
“Hm, I’d take that with a grain of salt, but I don’t know the dynamic with all of them now,” Clint said. “But Steve’s also a master tactician, so I’m sure he knew not telling them that detail would make sure you saw him.”
“Yeah, so we could work out our shit, apparently, because I’m always making something break at the thought of him or whatever.”
“Do you?”
“….Sometimes.”
He sighed, “Come on, kid. Don’t make that guy make you lose control. He’s an idiot.”
You snorted, “Yeah, yeah. You said I was going to marry that idiot and have tons of children. Remember that?”
Clint cringed, “To be fair, you did marry him. I just didn’t account for him being a selfish piece of shit.”
“No one did,” you muttered. “I should’ve known, though. Stubborn prick.”
“You had no way of knowing,” Clint said. “Don’t beat yourself up about that. And don’t let that guy get any more tears or stress from you. You’re worth more than that. Cry over shit that actually matters, like puppies in pounds, or kids falling.”
“Kids falling is sad?” You questioned.
“No, that shit’s hilarious,” Clint scoffed which made you snort. You heard his doorbell ring and he groaned as he got up off the sofa. “One sec, pizza’s here.”
“Still with the pizza?” You giggled.
Clint shrugged as he grabbed the cash off of the counter and sidestepped his resting dog and ran to the door, “The one thing that will never fail me or leave me in this world is pizza. That’s a good lesson to learn.”
“Even bad pizza?”
“Pizza is pizza,” he answered you and looked through the peephole of his door before humming, “That’s not pizza.”
“Who is it?”
“Bucky, and an asian guy.”
Your jaw fell to the floor. Your eyes widened, “What?”
“Yeah, hold on a sec. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure you can hear it. This should be good.”
~*~
Clint was a great man for letting you stay on the line and listen to this conversation. He opened the door and leaned against it, arms crossed over his chest as he momentarily ignored Shangqi and stared at Bucky. Bucky quietly held the pizza box out to him.
“How’d you know that was for me?”
Bucky raised an eyebrow. Clint shrugged and gave Bucky the cash he was going to give the delivery guy and took the pizza box and went right towards his kitchen, “Bucky, mystery guy.”
“This is Shangqi,” Bucky explained.
“Still a mystery guy to me,” Clint said as he leaned against the counter, brought a slice of pizza out of the box and folded it in half before taking a large bite out of it. “Why do I care who he is? And why are you here, exactly?”
Shangqi pursed his lips and looked to Bucky. Bucky nodded to the man once and stepped forward into the kitchen. Clint turned the box of pizza towards him and Bucky declined. When Clint offered Shangqi, the man shrugged and nodded before taking a slice.
“So?” Clint asked. “What did you do?”
“Why do you —“
“Oh, come on.” Clint joked, “No one comes to the retired guy unless something’s wrong. We all know this. What’s going on?”
Bucky cleared his throat, “Okay. Steve’s back and young again. Says he’s in love with (Y/N) and wants her back. She ran off and we have no idea where she went but I know she won’t go see Pepper like this and you’re kind of, well —“
“The closest thing left?” Clint raised an eyebrow. “And he is?”
“Her…..boyfriend.” Shangqi said hesitantly around a mouthful of pizza.
Now that took Clint by surprise. He choked on his pizza crust and looked Shangqi up and down as he tried to assess this kid. This man was definitely not Steve.  The Jordans, the graphic shirt, the bomber jacket, Shangqi was, well —
“Holy shit,” Clint coughed. “I thought she only went for elderly men. Dare I say it, you actually look age appropriate. Wow.”
You wanted to kill him for that joke.
Shangqi snorted, “I left my suspenders and cardigan at home.”
“I bet,” Clint said. “Wow. The prodigal one returns and you’re just left there like a sack of shit, huh? Must hurt.”
“A bit,” Shangqi confessed.
Clint hummed and studied his every move, “How’d you take it?”
“Well…how could I take it? It’s more news for her than me. I mean, it’s news for me but, but it’s not about me right now. I just know she’s hurt, and I don’t now where she is, and I want to find her.”
“And you came to me because you thought she’d magically pull up her big girl pants and contact me?”
“Yup,” Bucky nodded. “I don’t feel a rattle. She’s not here, is she?”
“No, she’s not.” Clint told them. “But you’re right, she did contact me. She’s okay. Didn’t start some earthquake or landslide. She just needed space to think. She's okay. You guys should head back to wherever you just drove from and go be with her.”
Shangqi breathed a sigh of relief. Bucky thought it was the first breath that man let out since they’d left to find you. He could feel the stress radiating off of him in waves, and it just served to make him feel more guilty for this entire thing.
“How’d you guys get here so fast, anyway?” Clint asked after a moment.
“Ah, boy toy over here was too anxious for the drive. We stole a quinjet.”
Clint whistled, “She’s going to kill you if those things weren’t meant to be tested yet.”
“We’ll survive,” Bucky snickered. “Come on. Let’s get going, daylight’s already gone.”
Shangqi nodded and glanced to Clint, “Thank you, Mr. Barton. I appreciate you telling me she’s okay.”
“Yeah, yeah. Clint’s fine, kid,” he replied. While Bucky was leaving the apartment, Clint extended his hand out to Shangqi. Shangqi smiled and shook his hand, surprised when he was suddenly yanked forward right into Clint’s chest. The man wrapped an arm around him and whispered in his ear, “If you do to her even a fraction of what Steve did, I will shove my arrows into your eye sockets until there’s nothing left but a puddle of mush.”
Shangqi blinked, “Noted, sir.”
~*~
When they were gone, Clint leaned against the counter after shutting the door behind him, “You get all that, Stark?”
“Yeah.”
“Boyfriend, huh?” Clint mused. “Doesn’t dress like Steve.”
“Clint —“
“If he treats you well, I’m happy for you, kiddo.”
Smiled softly, “He does. I’m happy too.”
“You love him?”
“Yeah.”
“Tell him,” Clint said. “He looks scared.”
“What do you mean?”
“I mean, he looks like he thinks he doesn’t hold a candle to Rogers,” Clint explained. “That kid’s a ball of fear and he’s holding it all in for your sake. If you love him, tell him.”
“Okay, I will. Thanks Clint.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Clint cleared his throat. “You sure he’s a good one to you?”
You smiled softly and nodded, “I think he makes me better and forces me to actually deal with my shit.”
“Wow. Dude deserves a god damn Nobel Prize.”
“Wow. Fuck off, Clint.”
“Hey, you called me,” He joked before clearing his throat. “I’m glad you did, kid. I’m sorry you’re going through this. But I’m here for you. I wasn’t before, but, but uh, I can be there for you again.”
“I can for you too,” You said quietly. “I’m sorry. I wasn’t there for you at all, but I’m…I’m making myself visible again. I’ll be there for you.”
“I’m happy to hear that. Go home, Stark, or wherever the hell you guys are. Okay?”
“Yeah, I will. Bye, Clint.”
You hung up the phone and took a few deep breaths. He was right. You needed to return to the compound. It was dark out, which was going to be more annoying to navigate until you came near the vicinity of the compound to see all the lights. With a heavy sigh, you stood up from your usual spot from whenever you were sad and still lived there, and took a moment to look around at the cliffs in front of you. You nodded once to yourself and turned around to leave, stopping in your tracks with your heart in your throat.
“Steve?”
Steve stood there with two flashlights and a backpack resting on his shoulders. He greeted you with a small wave and you scowled.
“What are you doing here?”
“We were married, (Y/N).” He reminded you, “You think I don’t know where all your hiding spots are when you need to be alone?”
You rolled your eyes, “I’m surprised you remember and it’s not all filled with details about Peggy.”
Steve sighed, “Can we talk?”
“No. I don’t even know why you’re here.”
“To make sure you get back okay.”
“In case you haven’t noticed, Steve. I’m fine. I’m fine without you. I made it here without you, and I can get back without you. I’m a world-ender. Okay? A fucking wolf isn’t going to kill me.”
“No, maybe not,” Steve said as you both started walking towards the compound. “But, you probably used your powers to get here, and I bet you haven’t eaten in awhile. You don’t have enough calories to get back without possibly risking getting exhausted or passing out, because while we both know how extremely strong you are: if you’re not 100%, you’re not going to make it.”
Fuck this fucking motherfucker for being totally right about that. You stopped and turned to glare at Steve as he caught up to you. You both continued walking in silence while he went through the bag. He produced a protein bar for you, and you muttered your thanks as you angrily bit into it.
“So, what did you think think you could talk to me about? Your mistakes? More excuses?”
Steve shook his head, “You know what, (Y/N)? You know how I feel about you. I love you. I’ve never stopped loving you, and I’ll do whatever it takes to get you back.”
You balked, “I don’t want you back, Steve. Get that through your head.”
“I’m not giving up on us,. You’re my wife —“
“Ex-wife —“
“Regardless, I love you.” He explained. “I love you, and I’ll do whatever it takes. I’m with you — “
You scoffed, “What, till the end of the line?”
He shook his head, “Always, (Y/N).”
You really thought about murdering him in the middle of the woods, but you couldn’t bring yourself to do it. You shook your head and told him you wanted to walk in silence on the way back, and whether it was because he realized he didn’t have a chance or because he thought listening to you would be getting on your good side, he was quiet.
by the time you saw the compound, you saw the quinjet they had stolen resting on a nearby helipad instead of being moved back inside the hangar like it was supposed to. Morons, honestly. You both entered the building, and you looked around to see Shangqi off to the side with Sam and Bucky, watching as the man was frantically on his phone typing away. Your phone had died during your walk and you could tell he was stressed by the look on his face.
Sam kicked Shangqi’s shoe, causing the man to look up and lock eyes with you. As Shangqi pocketed his phone and made his way over to you, you ran over to him and jumped on him. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders and your legs around his waist as you crushed him in a hug that made his bones crack under your grasp.
“I’m sorry,” you said quickly. “I’m sorry I ran away from you and I don’t deal with my shit like a healthy person should.”
“Oh, I know you do that,” Shangqi nodded. “Look, I —“
“I love you,” you said earnestly, hands coming up to cup his face. Shangqi’s gaze softened, as staring at you adoringly as you surprised him with this confession of love. “Shangqi, I love you with all of me. You make me so, so incredibly happy. And I don’t think I know how lucky I am to have someone love me and care about me like you do, but I uh, I'm starting to realize it.”
Shangqi smiled softly as he held you up, “You love me that much, huh?”
“You’re my first choice,” you said quietly. “I will always choose you. I promise.”
“I’ll choose you too,” Shangqi grinned.
You smiled and pressed your lips against his. Shangqi shuddered from the feel of your ice cold lips pressing against his while you melted into his warm touch. You ignored the sounds of Bucky and Sam clearing their throat as you kissed your boyfriend.
You let your legs fall from his waist and he held your hips as you slipped down to stand up straight.
Shangqi squeezed them and pressed his forehead against yours, “It’s late. Do you want to stay the night and leave tomorrow?”
You nodded, “Yeah, I’m starving.”
“I’ll see if I can make us something.”
You grinned and kissed him again. Shangqi kissed you, eyes opening briefly to see Steve standing behind you both by several feet, glaring at Shangqi with how the man held you and kissed you. At this moment, Shangqi just couldn’t help himself. He smirked as he kissed you, and he shot Steve a quick wink, just to really rub it in this face.
After all, how dare that man try to steal you away like that?
Just as Shangqi was about to walk off to the kitchen with you, and you were fully intent on ignoring Sam and Bucky for the time being, the compound doors open and you heard a loud huff and the sound of a bag hitting the floor.
“Oh, come on!” Katy shouted seeing everyone there. “Did I miss the drama already? Holy shit, dude. Old Captain America is hot. Well, I mean, previous Cap —I mean. Good job, (Y/N).”
Shangqi glared at her, “Really, Katy?”
“Uh, I mean good job now, with you, yeah. That’s what I meant.”

Dinner was interesting. “Interesting” being that Katy and Peter got along way better than predicted. Of course you felt they’d all get along with each other, but Katy and Peter really honed in on roasting people and cracking jokes. Was that the worst thing in the world? No, not really, not unless you were, well, you and Shangqi who had to suffer their torment.
“Hey,” Katy said as she draped an arm around Peter’s shoulders. “The young spider and I were thinking that we should get some dessert.”
You looked to Shangqi who raised an eyebrow at you.
“Why do I feel like we’ve suddenly become the parents?” He asked you jokingly.
You raised your purse, “Because mama’s treating tonight.”
“Oh, he blinked twice. “Well, since dad’s off the hook. Can we get some boba?”
You snickered and looked behind you to Peter, “Good with that?”
“Hell yeah,” Peter agreed. “Can we get some chips, too? Oh, and maybe some, like, snack cakes or something? Actually, I’m kind of hungry. Any pizza places —“
“Oh, great. Someone else that eats like you,” Katy remarked as she smacked the back of Shangqi’s shoulders. “We should put you two in an eating competition.”
“I wouldn’t mind,” Shangqi shrugged and swung your linked hands back and forth. “You know they only have drinks at that place. We can bring our own food.”
“Are we really having second dinner and dessert?” You laughed then shrugged. “Yeah I’m not even mad about that, walking around has given my stomach new life. Okay, let’s do it. Dessert, then we bring second dinner?”
“God you guys have stomach dumpsters,” Katy joked. “One problem. It’s 21 and up only after 9 and he’s definitely under 21.”
Peter pouted, “What? No, no. I can totally pass for a 21 year old.”
You all stopped waking and stopped to look at Peter. He puffed out his chest to try to appear older, making you snort before stepping forward and running your fingers through his hair to comb it back, “We’ll fix this hair up, make it look like you have your shit together.”
“I totally have my shit together!” He replied.
Shangqi snorted.
“Oh, don’t even, Steve,” Peter teased making Shangqi pout.
“Whatever, arachnco-baby.”
“It’s —“
“Katy. What else?” you asked her over the two of them going back and forth with each other.
Katy hummed and looked him over. Peter was now quiet as he had the two of you hovering over him and scrutinizing him. Katy snapped her fingers in realization, “What am I thinking? You’re a teen. Just use your fake ID if they ask.”
You laughed, “Peter doesn’t have a fake ID.” You explained to her. When Peter was quiet, you slowly turned to stare at him in shock. Peter laughed nervously and rubbed the back of his head. “Peter freaking Parker. You have a fake ID?!”
“Hey, you can’t be mad!” Peter said quickly as he jumped backwards from you. “You totally abandoned me in my time of need and life is hard — “
“So what, you’re an alcoholic!? You’re a kid!”
“No! I just got it just in case I needed to do Avengery things and no one was with me!” He argued. “And, you know…to see R-rated movies.”
You stared at him, “Peter. You’re old enough to see R-rated movies without a fake ID.”
“Well, yeah, I realized that after,” he trailed off. “So we’re good.”
You sighed, “They grow so fast.”
“Didn’t you have a fake ID?” Shangqi asked. “You know, to get away with shit?”
You stared at him and laughed, “Dude. My dad was Tony Stark. I didn’t need a fake ID people just gave me shit — which is so morally concerning — but, yeah, I had people looking out for me so at least I didn’t become my dad.”
At that, Katy, Shangqi, and Peter both started coughing. They were clearing their throats, coughing loudly, and getting progressively louder until it clocked.
“Okay. Fuck all three of you,” you announced, making them all laugh. “Let’s go get Boba, food, and ignore the fact that you guys are saying I’m my father.”
“You are,” Peter said as he walked next to you. “You really, definitely are.”
With a pained smile, you lifted your arm and draped it around his shoulders, “Yeah, you are too, Parker.”
~*~
At the karaoke bar, they let Peter in without any issues. You guys made yourself at home in your usual room, set everything up, and Katy was picking songs while Peter and Shangqi were already eating pizza.
“Are we starting with drinks?” A waitress came by and you threw your hand up quickly.
“So I wanna do some bottle service,” you began, but pointed at Peter. “But he’s going to have a virgin pina colada, he’s sober,” you lied.
Peter frowned at you while she nodded.
“Great, what bottles would you like?”
You and Shangqi shared one look with each other, and quickly started rattling off the different bottles of liquor you wanted.
Katy stared at you guys in surprise as the waitress left, “You, um, you good?”
“Oh, we meant it when we said we’re getting fucked up,” you informed her. “We’re still traumatized by that Steve comparison. And, you know what?” You stood up straight, “Mom and dad want to have fun.”
“My god, you really are so corny,” Katy mumbled mimicking a teasing comment that Bucky and Sam had said to you. “Okay, let’s do this.”
“Yay!” You clapped your hands together. “But no booze for Peter, he’s a baby.”
Peter heard that, “I’m not a baby!” He looked to Shangqi, “Dude. Tell her. I mean, I can have a sip of beer, right?”
“You think I’m willing to convince (Y/N) to let you have some?” He looked at Peter and started laughing, “You’re nuts, bro.”
Together, the four of you were screaming to your favorite music and drinking, except for Peter, who was drinking his bodyweight in soda and various juices since he wasn’t allowed to drink. Seriously, every time he tried to sneak something you were there to slap it out of his hand and drink it yourself or give it to your boyfriend. This meant that you and Shangqi were absolutely far more fucked  up than Katy, who came to a horrifying realization. She was the sober adult with the teenager now.
Terrible.
Because she felt like somebody needed to be responsible enough to make sure everyone got home, she slowed down on her drinking just a little bit. You and Shangqi were currently screaming to Lizzo’s Truth Hurts, which was comical, given that this had been Katy’s song of choice for the two when you were all stuck at the compound together. She thought it was the perfect time to send a message to Steve.
And, really, Katy in a screamo voice telling Steve, “you coulda had a bad bitch” was absolutely one of the best things you had experienced.
Peter was chugging water and wiping sweat from his brow, because instead of just singing, Peter also was dancing along. Katy plopped down next to him and nudged him, “How ya doing there, squirt?”
He rolled his eyes, “I’m good I just wish she’d et me try something!” He said to Katy. “She’s plastered and somehow still knows. Like if she was the one with spider senses.
Watching you and Shangqi closely, noticing that you were jumping up and down and singing, Katy shrugged a shoulder. She grabbed a can of soda, made Peter drink some, then poured a little bit of rum into it. She shook the can slightly and passed it to him.
“One sip,” Katy said. “And if they ask, you did this yourself. Just one sip.”
Peter grinned, “Thanks Katy.”
“Eh, if I can let my brother to try alcohol, I can let you. I guess. Better around adults then other gross teenagers pressuring you. One time, Shangqi and I were at a party and we watched this girl vomit the equivalent of her body weight after too many wine coolers. What a harrowing experience.”
Peter grinned. He thanked Katy and took his one sip, making sure it was a good, long one. He felt the burn hit his chest and he started coughing and pulling the can away. Katy took the can from him and patted his back while you stopped and stared at him in concern.
“Are you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah,” he said quickly. “The bubbles got me.”
“The bubbles got me!” You repeated, throwing your arms up in the air. “That should be a song. Babe, let’s make a song. We’ll call it, ‘The Bubbles Got Me. Featuring: Lil BubBub’”
Shangqi was laughing, “Who is Lil BubBub?”
You shrugged, “We’re all LilBubBub, aren’t we?”
Katy blinked as she watched this scene unfold, “I have never seen Stark this drunk before. Wow, we need to do this more often. How you feeling, Peter?”
Peter nodded a bunch of times and rubbed his chest, “Good. Good! I feel good. Wow, I feel awake.”
Katy snorted, “Oh, I bet you do.”
“Being drunk? So not bad,” Peter said, then stopped, “Oh, Umbrella! Wait, I love this song.”
Katy watched as Peter jumped up, ran to the front, and started dancing to Umbrella. Katy crossed her arms over her chest and slowly shook her head. She could not believe this at all. This kid thought he was drunk off of one sip of rum and coke, and Shangqi and you were actually completely trashed. Holy shit. Katy was going to have to be the sober designated driver the rest of the night. Wow. What kind of crime was this?
~*~
You felt like shit when you woke up the next morning. You felt a heavy weight on your side and slowly opened your eyes to see Shangqi was absolutely knocked out in front of you, his arm and leg wrapped around you like a kid cuddling an oversized plushie. You snorted and reached out to close his mouth as drool pooled on his cheek and the pillow. The action made him snort and open and close his mouth a few times like a fish before he opened his eyes.
“Ugh,” Shangqi groaned, “I feel horrible.”
“Same,” you muttered and pressed your face against his chest, “I forgot what happened after I saw Peter do a backflip.”
“Same,” Shangqi nodded in agreement, voice raspy with sleep and dehydration. “I wanna die.”
“No, no, me first,” you whined. “Hey, Wednesday.”
“Yes, Ms. Stark?” Your AI replied.
“What time is it?”
“1:00 p.m.”
“Fuck,” you and your boyfriend groaned.
You gasped, “Wait. We brought Peter home, right?”
“Mr. Parker is currently enjoying a late breakfast with Ms. Chen in the kitchen, which you paid for, might I add.”
You nodded slowly,” Fair.”
“I wanted pancakes, “Shangqi pouted quietly.
You chuckled. “I’ll make them for dinner.”
“Sweet,” He took a deep breath and shut his eyes again as he kissed your forehead. “Let’s just go back to sleep, then. He’s fine. Katy’s here. Wait. How did we get here?”
“Katy passed the in-car breathalyzer and drove you all back here,” your AI informed you once again. “I have taken the liberty of tending to Ms. Chen and Mr. Parker while you were asleep, as well as providing you and Mr. Xu with some assistance.”
You could hear the panel by your nightstand opening. Rolling over, you watched as a tray was pushed out with two large bottles of water and painkillers. You sighed happily and took them both, thanking your AI while Shangqi looked baffled. He shook his head, downed the painkillers and water with you, then groaned and dragged you back under the covers with him.
“I can’t believe he compared me to Steve,” Shangqi mumbled. “Oh, god. Is that why you’re with me? Because I’m like Steve?”
“Please, don’t even,” You whined in agony. “I never once thought of Steve when I looked at you.”
“So Peter’s full of shit, then?”
“Well, yeah, because he’s a teenage boy. Just like you were, I bet,” You snuggled into his chest and sighed. “But, I guess he has a point?”
“Babe, I’m gonna be sick — “
“Hey,” You reached up to cup his cheek and stare at him. “You’re a sweet, sweet man who cares about others and works hard to protect people and keep them safe. You’re sweet, strong, and very, very cute.”
He puffed out his bottom lip as he thought about this, “Am I cuter than Steve?”
You snorted, “You are leagues above him in the cuteness department.”
He hummed, “Well, I guess that’s not so bad.”
“See?” You chuckled and kissed his jawline, “I guess it’s not terrible. I mean, he did it to be a little bitch, but, there’s worse comparisons.”
He nodded, “Yeah, if he said I reminded him of Iron Man I think I would’ve been afraid of your level of daddy issues.”
“Coming from you? That’s rich,” You swatted his chest. “Ugh. I need to shower. I feel like I’m alcohol sweating.”
“You are,” he nodded. “And I feel like I’m going to puke.”
“I’ve got a really sexy idea,” you said, drumming your hands on his chest. “I jump in that shower and get it started. You vomit your heart’s content, and then jump in with me.”
He hummed, “You wanna hear the sounds of me vomiting?”
You shrugged, “I think we’ve been together long enough and been through enough that hearing you vomit is nothing.”
He nodded, “True. And I’ve seen you run to a bathroom and scream you weren’t going to make it, so.”
“What a perfect couple,” you nodded. “Okay, okay. I’ll go first. If I don’t make it….I love you.”
“I love you more,” He murmured and kissed you before watching you get out of bed.
Shangqi eventually found the strength to get out of bed. As predicted, he was draped over your toilet and hurling until he couldn’t anymore, and then he was hopping in the shower with you, toothbrush he left in your home hanging out of his mouth waiting for you to put toothpaste on it, since you were already brushing yours inside.
After your shower together, you both went downstairs to see Katy and Peter hanging around the table. Shangqi was squinting from the sunlight entering your kitchen, while you were taking a page out of your dad’s playbook and rocking sunglasses indoors. You saw Peter doing the same and narrowed your eyes suspiciously.
“I’m sorry,” you blurted out. “Are you wearing hungover shades?”
“What? No. I’m not hungover, I’m just showing Katy how cool they looked,” Peter said as he quickly took them off.
“Yeah, it would be impossible to be hungover after one sip of rum,” Katy said. “It was adorable, though, that out thought you were drunk.”
You gasped, “You drank! I said no drinking.”
“That was on me. I let him have a sip. Just a sip, and I watched him the whole time,” Katy explained.
“Besides, you and Mr. Stark — “
You pointed a finger at him as Shangqi poured you a mug of black coffee and slipped a doughnut through your outstretched finger. “I am the early product of my dad’s shitty parenting. Harley’s mid-tier, and you and Morgan are supposed to be better than us. So, don’t even start with our alcohol consumption traits.”
“Fine…” Peter mumbled. “So…I wasn’t drunk?
“No, but a lot of teenagers think they get drunk after a sip, you precious little thing,” Katy cooed and patted the top of his head.
“Not Katy,” Shangqi piped up as he took a seat next to Peter. “Our first party? Some girl had two baby sips of a wine cooler and said she felt wrecked. Katy took the bottle from her, chugged it, and then called her a poser.”
“And that’s why we love Katy. She’s a gem,” you said, moving on to your second doughnut and sitting beside Katy. “So, Peter — “
“Yeah?”
You nodded to your boyfriend, “Does he pass the ‘vibe check’ as you youth say?”
He groaned, “Stop acting like you’re a hundred years old it’s so weird! You’re not even, like, crazy old or anything.” He shook his head while you were laughing. He looked to Shangqi who was pretending not to be listening in on this conversation by keeping his head down as he devoured an entire bagel in what seemed like four monstrous bites. “Shangqi’s okay, I guess.”
“Whoa,” Shangqi glanced at him, “Just okay?”
“Hey, I’m just trying to humble you,” Peter joked. “You seem cool…so far.”
Katy’s eyes sparkled in amusement, “Awww…he’s playing it cool in case you hurt her feelings and he has to kill you.”
“Yeah,” Peter nodded. “I’m, like, super strong and stuff. I can do it.”
Shangqi looked to you in disbelief, “Why does everyone you know want to kill me over you?”
“Have you met my ex-husband? No one wants a repeat of that.”
“True.”
Peter blinked, “Wait you guys were serious when you said Steve was young again and trying to get her back?!”

Summary:  It’s time to Introduce the new Tony Stark to Pepper and Morgan
WC: 4,902
Tumblr media
This was the most awkward, uncomfortable situation you had ever been in. Clint was trying to get to know his wife, who wasn’t even his wife anymore, she was a totally different Natasha who didn’t even know you. You were trying to make sense of your father, who suffered similarly to you in losing those that he loved. In his Universe, he had no Pepper or Morgan or you to go home to. Here, the three of you were missing him. It seemed perfect to make him slip right in as though nothing had ever happened.
However, deep down, you knew this wasn’t your dad. He surely didn’t have all the same memories you had growing up. There was no way things were a perfect parallel, lives lived the same alongside each other, the only reverse being your fates. Nothing could be that easy, that simple to slide into, to fill the void each of you had.
But that morning, as you were waiting for Pepper to come by and you spoke to him in the kitchen, you were thinking that maybe, just maybe, you were allowed to have some good luck on your side.
“My daughter, you, I guess, in my universe, she used to make the most incredible brownies,” Tony explained with a grin as he stared off out the window and thought back on a particular day. “And one day I came back from a mission with everyone. You were — she was asleep, but those brownies were there. I took ‘em before anyone could say otherwise, ran off, and wrapped them all in plastic wrap and hid pieces around the tower so I had snacks all week and no one else got any.”
Your eyes watered as you remembered this being the exact story you had shared with Shangqi around Thanksgiving, the night that he proposed. Your head went down as you laughed and shook your head before looking up again, “I — I did that here.”
“You did?”
“I did,” you nodded. “You were like a crackhead for brownies. Did I ever — “
“Top them with chocolate blueberries? Oh, yeah, definitely,” Tony finished your sentence all too eagerly. “You didn’t think it would taste good, but I loved it.”
“Holy shit,” you mumbled to yourself and chugged your coffee. You thought the burn would help snap some sense into you to not get your hopes up, and yet —
“Did Cap ever take you away?” Tony asked, “When you two were together, did Cap ever take you to Connecticut?”
“He did…”
“Huh,” Tony mused and crossed his arms over his chest. “Well, spawn, I think we may have come across a very rare anomaly.”
“And that is?”
“Our life experiences seem to have been identical to one another, and yet our ends were the inverse,” Tony tilted his head to the side and studied you, “Huh.”
“What? What huh?”
“Well, we had the same experience with each other. Our lives are essentially a mirror of one another, but your husband wasn’t the same in my world. I’m just wondering, if you had survived, would you have gone dark side? Turned him good? I wonder if there’s something called ‘destiny’ out there, and you two were meant to be together.”
“Oh, god, please don’t,  you held your hand up with a laugh. “I can barely deal with the fact that you’re here and …well, everything, I can’t deal with another Shangqi right now — much less an evil one.”
Tony nodded in understanding as he reached over to the middle of the counter, grabbed the coffee pot, and poured more coffee for the two of you, even adding your favorite add-ins to the cup just the way you liked it, which made you want to burst into tears then and there.
“If it means anything, this Shangqi seems like a good man. Not at all like his shitty ass father,” he told you as he slid your cup over to you.
And with perfect timing. Shangqi entered the kitchen, dressed for the day, yawning and yearning for a cup of coffee. He smiled at you and quickly rushed over to greet you with a kiss, “Mornin’ babe.” He reached for the coffee pot and looked to your dad, “Good Morning, Mr. Stark.”
Tony raised his mug to him, “Morning there, Dragon Tales.”
You snorted, coffee shooting out of your nose, “Dude!”
“What? He fought dragons! Come on, you used to love that show as a kid. It’s a good reference, and I know you understood that better than my ‘Point Break’ one on Thor.”
“I wasn’t going to say it was bad or anything, I loved it. I wanted a high five,” you said, sticking your hand out to your dad who happily slapped it.
Shanqi’s smile fell.It was at this moment that it dawned on him that there were two of you. There was you, and the original, plus Morgan? Fuck, he was going to die.
“Good one, Mr. Stark. I’ll just uh, I’ll go ahead and wait by the front for Pepper and Morgan so I can take Morgan to play while you three talk. Later, honey,” Shangqi leaned down to kiss the back of your head and left with his coffee.
You shook your head at your dad, “He’s going to stop calling you Mr. Stark.”
“But it’s nice having Xu Shangqi afraid of me for once. It amuses me,” Tony smirked and finished his coffee. “Pep, um, Pepper’s coming, does she know?”
“I think she suspects,” you nodded. “We’re going to take this over to the conference room. It’s got blackout windows and a silence function.”
“What, you put padding all around?”
“Nah, installed a panel in the office. Emits two different frequencies undetectable by the human ear, but also cancel each other out. It’s basically like a cone of silence.”
Tony stared at you in awe, “Wow, kid. I’m impressed. You’re amazing.”
You missed that praise from your father. It gave you flashbacks to when you were a kid and the two of you would be working on an invention together. You’d get something right, and Tony would tell you how great of a job you did before going to get ice cream together or some sort of treat to celebrate your good work.
“Thanks, da — uh, Tony — I don’t know what to call you.”
Tony’s jaw clenched slightly as he nodded. He straightened his posture and sniffled quickly as he nodded once more to himself for reassurance, “Yeah, no, no. It’s fine. We’ll figure something out.”
Meanwhile, in the hallway, Steve had heard the exchange since he was on his way to get in an early morning run. He glanced at Shangqi and nodded to him, “Can’t handle Stark’s nicknames?”
Shangqi rolled his eyes, “I can handle them just fine, Steve. Don’t you have some Metamucil to go drink or something?”
Steve chuckled, “Funny. Let’s see how long that relationship lasts now that Tony’s here to stay. And let’s not forget the fact that, well, Y/N and I were married in his universe as well — “
“Yeah, and she’s dead, so I guess she goes to extremes to get rid of you,” Shangqi snapped. “We’re married, Steve. Fuck off.”
Steve said nothing. He watched Shangqi walk off to the front where Pepper and Morgan had just entered. Shangqi left his coffee mug on a random table, which was sure to annoy his wife later on, and threw open his arms as he went on bended knee.
“Morgan the Destroyer!” He shouted.
“Uncle Shangqi!” She screeched and dove into his outstretched arms. She hugged him tightly around the neck as he scooped her up and stood at his full height with her. “Hello!”
“Hey, Morgan. Ready to play today?” He asked before greeting Pepper with a smile and gesturing over his shoulder with his chin.
“I’ll be back, sweetheart,” Pepper told Morgan with a kiss to her head before walking off.
“Yes, but where is Y/N?”
“She has to take care of some boring old business stuff,” Shangqi said as he carried her off to a completely different section of the compound. “So you’re stuck with me, kid!”
“You’re lying,” Morgan said as she studied his face.
He sputtered, “What? What? No! I’m not lying. Why do you think I’m lying?”
Morgan shrugged, “I know all.”
“You….are a scary little kid.”
Morgan beamed at that, “I know.” It was at this point Morgan took out a stick she hid up the sleeve of her jacket and pointed it at him, “Speak or be destroyed!”
“Holy shit.”
~*~
In the conference room, you were pacing back and forth nervously while chewing on a breakfast bar. Tony watched you in amusement and stared carefully at the ground like he was waiting for something to happen. He made a mental note that he was impressed you hadn’t brought the entire place down yet.
When the door opened, Pepper walked in, shut it behind her, and exhaled as she looked directly at you before spotting Tony.
“I knew it,” she shut her eyes tightly and leaned against the wall, “I’m going insane.”
“No, no, you’re not insane. That’s…him. Sort of.”
“What do you mean sort of?”
You paused and tried to figure out how to word this, “Well, so, he, uh — “
“I’m your Tony from a parallel dimension — somewhat,” Tony explained as he cautiously approached her. “Back where I’m from, everything was the same up until Thanos came. That’s sort of where our lives diverge.”
Pepper frowned, “What do you mean?”
“Tony didn’t snap in his world. In fact, it never even got that far,” you explained. “I’m the one that died.”
Pepper’s hands went up to her mouth, “Oh my god.”
“So did you, while pregnant,” Tony explained, and you could see how his eyes started to turn glassy. “You weren’t far along enough, though. It was very early, but the stress of the situation, Y/N, me. I came back and my whole life was gone in an instant.”
Pepper sniffled as she listened to this, “Oh, Tony, I’m so sorry — “
“Seeing the two of you again is, well, it’s almost comical,” he laughed dryly. “Like a big punch in the face by the universe.”
“I’m just so surprised you’re here,” Pepper said quietly. “Is Doctor Strange — “
“He can’t, he doesn’t have the magic for that,” you told her quietly. “He’s here to stay, Natasha too.”
“Natasha?” Her voice cracked and she took a deep breath to steady herself. “Is she — “
“A little different, yeah,” you told her very briefly what was going on with Natasha. “But that’s — I — well —“
“You lost your Tony,” Tony said as he approached Pepper and reached out for her hands, “I lost my Pepper, my Y/N, our child that I was thinking we could name after your weird uncle Morgan. All gone. And I’m standing here looking at the two of you thinking, well shit, maybe I can have the life I wanted.”
Pepper shuddered, “Tony — “
“I know, I know. It’s weird. I’m not your Tony, but damn it, Pepper Potts, I think I’ll love you no matter what universe it is. You and me Pep, always.”
She laughed nervously as she pulled away from Tony and wiped her eyes, “Tony, there’s something you need to know — “
“And you,” Tony turned around and fixated on you, “I said it before but I’ll say it again. You are my greatest creation, Y/N. And I know this is weird for us, this whole thing, but maybe I can be there for you. You don’t have to call me dad. I won’t resent you for it. Your future kids don’t have to call me Grandpa or anything like that, but — “
“Tony,” Pepper snapped. “We had a daughter.”
“Oh, I know.” Tony nodded simply.
She scoffed, “What?”
“Yeah, you and this dead guy had your own Morgan. I was trying to let you have the big reveal, but I know she’s here. I’m kind of not acknowledging it because once I see her I may lose my shit, and as funny as that would be, it would probably terrify the kid.”
Pepper stared at him incredulously, “Wow. I hate you so much you big idiot.”
Tony shrugged his shoulders, “You know, hate is a strong word. I — “
Tony was silenced by Pepper hugging her dumb genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist idiot. She was trying to hold it together, but she couldn’t stop crying as she held Tony in her arms. Tony also tried to keep it together, but he couldn’t. All the bravado he held, all the jokes he was making and trying to play off his feelings, it all came down as he held Pepper tightly and hid his face in her hair as he held her.
Suddenly, you could feel a pitter patter of footsteps outside the room. You narrowed your eyes immediately, realizing that Morgan had gotten the best of Shangqi, her favorite uncle who could so easily falter under her gaze and do whatever she asked of him. You stepped out of the room, shut the door behind you quietly, and watched as Morgan was jumping up and down trying to peek into each room.
You crossed your arms over your chest as you stared at her. Shangqi came racing down the hall and skidded to a stop when he saw you watching Morgan. You slowly turned and raised an eyebrow at him. He gave you a sheepish grin as he cleared his throat.
“She tricked me into hide and seek.”
“You are such a sap,” you shook your head.
“Sorry, babe.”
“It’s fine, no worries.”
“Where are they?”
“Giving them time,” you explained, seeing Morgan turn around and realize she had been caught. “I still don’t know what to tell her.”
“Well, think fast,” He muttered seeing Morgan speed towards you.
Morgan was running at full speed with her shoelaces untied. You snorted to yourself wondering if she was going to trip and make you have the hardest laugh you’d have in a long time. Perfectly so, she did trip. She stepped on her laces and went flying forward. As much as you were ready to laugh, your protective instinct took over and your hand shot forward. With your powers, you gently pushed her back, easing her forward-facing fall into a gentle landing on her tush.
Morgan sat there flabbergasted as she stared at you. You wondered why she looked that way at you until Shangqi broke the news to you.
“Honey,” he began. “I don’t think you’ve ever used your powers in front of her.”
You blinked, “Oh, shit.”
“That was fucking awesome!” She screamed at the top of her lungs.
“Oh, shit,” you mumbled again to yourself.
Shangqi grinned, “Well, now you have something else to talk to her about and distract her with. Am I off the hook?”
“I suppose I’ll allow it,” you reasoned. “Would you mind checking in on them?”
“You got it,” he kissed your cheek and ran off as Morgan ran up to you and stared at you with her little fists balled up on her hip.
“You can do things,” she said as she studied you intensely. “Why I didn’t know?”
“Well, Morgan, it never came up?” You asked, raising an eyebrow. “Want a popsicle?”
“Fine, and the story,” she said as you took her hand and walked with her to the kitchen.
With snacks in place, you two sat at the counter in the kitchen and tried to figure out where to begin. Really, how were you to explain to as child that you had powers?  She understood Tony’s situation fairly well, but there was something different to explaining that your sister had powers.
“So, no one ever told you I could do things?”
“No. Daddy said you’d get upset and break things like a baby Hulk.”
You sighed, “Yeah, that’s pretty accurate for him.”
Morgan nodded and took a long sip of her juice before putting the glass down, sliding it towards you, and saying ‘hit me’. Snickering, you poured more juice for her and watched her sip more,
“How come I can’t do that?” Morgan asked quietly. “I’m not strong enough?”
Your eyes widened, “No, no, that’s not why! Morganite, you are the strongest, creepiest little kid I’ve ever met.”
“Do you mean that?”
“Yes, you little demon child,” you teased as you poked her nose softly. “You remember that we have different moms, right?”
Morgan nodded, “Yeah.”
“Well, where I’m from, my mom was a powerful witch,” You said, watching Morgan gasp out loud and stare at you in awe. “She was very, very connected to nature and spirits and gods. I never really found out why I got these powers, but we suspected it had to do with her who she drew her power from.”
“Who was that?” Morgan asked.
“Atabey,” you told her. “Although it’s kind of weird because she was also called Guabancex. I think? Or that’s just another manifestation of — sorry. I get fuzzy. It’s been so long since my mom last explained it to me. But she was associated with nature and natural disasters and, well, Morgan…I’ve got seismic powers.”
“Like earthquakes?”
You laughed, “Yeah, sort of! Everything in the world vibrates at a certain level, and I can control those vibrations.”
“Whoa,” Morgan trailed off. “That’s amazing.”
“It is,” Steve remarked as he walked into the kitchen after his latest workout to grab a bottle of water. “Your sister is kind of amazing.”
You rolled your eyes, “Don’t butter me up, Rogers.”
“Yeah, fuck off, Rogers!” Morgan echoed.
You snorted while Steve snickered to himself and shook his head.
“Just saying, ladies. I don’t know anyone else that could put a hole through an alien without ever actually touching it. Your sister is amazing,” Steve said before leaving.
You rolled your eyes, and Morgan quickly imitated you the best she could, causing you to laugh and reach out to ruffle her hair.
“So you’re magic?”
“I don’t think it’s magic,” you shrugged. “We never quite figured out what it was, but I’m not like anyone else here, so….I don’t know. We never figured it out.” You cleared your throat. “So, yeah, that’s me!”
“You’re so cool, Y/N,” Morgan gushed. “Is Shangqi like you?”
“Shangqi’s a little different,” you smiled softly. “Maybe he’ll tell you later.”
“But you can kick his butt, right?”
You laughed, “All day, every day.”
Morgan nodded and deemed this to be the appropriate answer, “Is that why you wore those arm things when you first came to visit?”
You nodded, “What did you think it was?”
“Osteoarthritis,” she said quickly.
“Not sure how or why you learned what that is, but, I mean, that's a fair guess.” You scratched the top of your hair and stared at her, “What else they didn’t tell you?”
Morgan chewed on her lip and bobbed her head from side to side as she thought about it, “Why Steve isn’t Uncle Steve.”
“Mm, yeah I’m not touching that one until you’re older.”
“Okay.  Why is he Uncle Shangqi isn’t he my brother-in-law?”
You narrowed your eyes as you stared at her, “Because I didn’t— I — my brain farted, okay!?” You shouted playfully at her listening to her laugh. “Stop knowing things, aren’t you two!?”
“I’m this many,” She held up her fingers and you scoffed.
“Well if you’re saying ‘this many’ and using fingers, you’re too little to know so much,” you said as you scooped her up from her chair and started walking away with her.
“I’m a genius, though.”
“Okay. Fair. I can’t handle that, though. Go back to being tiny and cute,” you demanded of her as you two walked down the hall.
You noticed Shangqi who looked traumatized. You frowned and walked over to him and grabbed his arm, “Hey, what happened?”
“I saw things I shouldn’t have seen…”he trailed off. “Very…very intimate, things.”
You frowned before realizing what he meant. Your eye twitched and you muttered ‘not again’ as you grabbed his hand and led him away as well. You said that the three of you could watch a movie together and try to forget all your troubles.
You sat in the middle of Morgan and Shangqi. Shangqi’s head was on your lap and you were running your fingers through his hair while you simultaneously stroked Morgan’s.
Nearing the end of the movie, Pepper appeared by the hallway, her head sticking out from the corner. She waved you over and you quickly excused yourself and ran over to her. You two silently went back to the conference room and locked it.
You gagged, “It smells like sex. It smells like parental sex, oh my god — “
“Like I haven’t been in a room after you’ve fucked in it,” Tony scoffed. “I remember in my garage you dragged Rogers to my red corvette and — “
“Stop! I don’t need that rehashed!” You shouted, flinging your hands over your ears to cover them and silence him.
Pepper sighed and took your hands down and gestured for you to sit. She cleared her throat and looked to Tony who zipped his mouth shut and sat there like a quiet, good little boy while Pepper spoke.
“We… are trying to figure out how to do this the best for Morgan,” Pepper began and was promptly interrupted.
“I say we rip the band-aid off,” Tony offered.
“And when you die again?” You asked, crossing your arms over your chest. “What do we tell her when you die again? What do any of us do when you die again?”
Tony stared at you, “Well, by that point, I’ll have achieved immortality, so — “
“That’s not funny. I mean it. She’s a kid. She’s going to have some serious emotional developmental issues from this, right? I mean — “
“She’s a Stark, so, yes,” Pepper added quietly.
“I resent that. I turned out just fine, and so did my spawn here,” Tony gestured to you.
You stared at him quietly and you groaned, “Yeah, that kid is fucked regardless. And, also, you two fucked. Are you together? Is this a thing?”
“We’re taking it slow,” she said.
“You FUCKED!”
“That’s slow for a Stark,” Tony offered. “Well, for me, anyways. Not you. You’re old fashioned. To be fair, your type is usually old men, so — “
“I need people in my life to stop saying out loud that I fuck old men!” You threw your arms up in the air.
Pepper missed this. She stood there quietly, watching as you and your father started screaming at each other about Steve, his age, and how your relationship with him was just too good to pass up when it came to making jokes. You two could be so unbearable, and loud, and ridiculous beyond reason, but she adored you two.
“I mean, he’s back to being young, right? What is it at this time around, 200 or 300?” Tony asked.
“I don’t know, dad! He’s fucking old and I don’t fuck him!” You shouted then paused. “I called you dad. That slipped. I’m confused — “
“And Morgan will be too,” Pepper jumped in. “He’s not going to move back into the house immediately. I think he should stay here at the  compound for a while so she has time to adjust to him. I also have to talk to Happy, Rhodey…”
You nodded slowly, “Okay. Um. So does this mean that Iron Man — “
“I’m retiring,” Tony said quickly. “I’m choosing to be a stay-at-home dad, and I plan on wearing lots of tracksuits, aprons, and food all day long.”
You snorted, “Is that so?”
“I’ve got a second chance, I’m not messing it up,” he told you. “Besides, it looks like you’ve more than filled my footsteps. A second compound, hm? West Coast Avengers? Pepper says you’ve been thinking of starting an organization to protect enhanced youths from abuse.”
“Oh, she told you, um, I’m — I’m just toying with the idea — “
“It’s a good one. Do it,” Tony smiled softly at you. “I never got to see you really shine, and I’m more than happy to step back and watch you.”
“Oh, wow,” you laughed nervously as the room briefly, but violently shook from your powers. “Okay. Didn’t expect that. Overwhelming feelings. Can’t run away, promised not to do that anymore — “
“Why don’t I go get Morgan?” Pepper said with a nod, wanting to give you two a moment.
But right as she opened the door, Morgan slammed into her legs as she had been charging down the hall to try to get in. You could all hear Shangqi behind her shouting for her to stop. When Morgan looked up from Pepper’s legs as she got up from the ground, she spotted Tony immediately and her eyes widened.
“Holy shit,” Morgan shouted.
Tony’s eyes widened as he studied her, “Holy shit.”
“Ah, shit,” Shangqi muttered.
“Fuck,” You sighed.
“Everyone stop swearing so much in front of my child!” Pepper shrieked.
Morgan frowned. She immediately went to stand behind Pepper’s legs and hide. She glanced up nervously at Shangqi, muttering something that no one could hear.
“What did she say?” Tony asked quietly.
“She doesn’t want to see the ghost,” Shangqi replied.
“Morganite,” you called to her. She cautiously turned her head, and you could only see one eye peaking out from behind Pepper’s leg. “Remember when I said my mom was magic?”
“Yeah.”
“Well,” you cleared your throat, “something magical happened. Actually, a big, dumb, stupid sorcerer fucked up a spell and — “
“Y/N,” Pepper said in a warning tone.
“Right. So something magical happened. That is Tony Stark, but he’s from another world and — “
“Hey, don’t bastardize things for the kid,” Tony said. “Strange opened the multiverse and I came through.”
You huffed, “Fine. He’s from the multiverse. This guy is from a parallel-ish world. Everything in life was exactly the same up until the moment we fought that big giant monster. This is the same man that raised you, technically, but in his world, I’m the one that died,” you explained, not wanting to tell her that she was never born and that her mother died. “So, in a way, we’re both — “
“The inverse?” Morgan asked. “So… that world’s Morgan doesn’t have you?”
“Right,” you nodded, jaw clenching as you lied through your teeth.
“That’s sad,” Morgan said quietly, slowly looking around Pepper to stare at Tony.
Tony was silently losing it. He was keeping everything inside as he studied the little girl that he missed out on having in his life. The child that was never born, hiding behind the wife that he lost, being calmed by his first-born who died to save the universe. He was losing it and struggling to remain calm. He wanted nothing more than to just scoop up this little girl and smother her in hugs.
“Nice to meet you, Morguna,” Tony said with a small wave.
Morgan hid her head again, and you could hear her sniffling behind Pepper. Your heart broke. Pepper offered a soft smile to Tony and turned around to pick her up.
“I’ll take her outside to talk to her,” Pepper said as she left the room with her.
You looked to your dad who cleared his throat, stood up, and excused himself to the restroom. You were left alone with Shangqi who slipped into the chair next to you and grabbed your hand.
“How are we doing?” He asked.
“This is a lot,” you sighed. “I need a vacation from my brain.”
“Then let’s do that,” he offered. “We’ll go on vacation somewhere. Go to London, Spain, wherever.”
“I’d like that,” you leaned on him and rested your head on his shoulder. “Did you see Morgan’s face? I wanted to make my own brain explode so I could never see her that sad again.”
“Yeah, I saw her. Broke my heart,” Shangqi sighed and put his feet up on the desk as he wrapped an arm around your shoulders. “It’s okay. She’s a smart kid. She’ll understand, eventually. But it’s good, she gets a second chance with her dad. That, well, that never happens for anyone, a parent coming back like that.”
And that moment you realized no one came through that Shangqi knew. His mother wasn’t there, nor was his father. You frowned as you reached up to stroke his cheek and grab his attention towards you, “I’m sorry, Shangqi.”
He smiled softly, “It’s okay. I dealt with their death. I’m honestly kind of relieved I don’t have to go through what you guys are going through, even if I am a little jealous.”
“Well,” You sighed and thought about it. “You now get to experience what it’s like to be the son-in-law of Tony Stark.”
“Should I be scared?”
“It’s…an experience,” you mumbled. “But, you know, you’ll live!”
“Oh, great. Fun. Can’t wait.”
Tony exited the restroom at the perfect moment. He glanced at Shangqi, eyes red from the obvious crying he was hiding, but, also, you could see the little fire in his eyes as you knew he was preparing to say something horrible.
“Don’t be such a pussy, Shangqi. You’ll love me.”
You snorted while Shangqi slowly shook his head, “Yeah. I see where you get it from.”

A Wish Fulfilled
A/N: This takes place late in this series of one-shots. I haven’t written in so SOOO long. THis is just a quick drabble I put together. IDK if this will go anywhere, but that’s why this is jsut a series of one-shots. IDK, might lead to the Crumble!Verse
Okay. So this is in my Stark!ReaderVerse! Feedback, as awlays, extremely appreciated and desired.
Pairings/Characters: Shang-Chi x Stark!Reader, Steve Rogers x Stark!Reader
Warnings: swearsies, Minors DNI none of my stuff bc I said so
Summary:  You want to know what else is out there, while Steve’s wildest dream has come true.
WC: 1,779
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shangqi didn’t have to be a mindreader to know something was wrong. You had been in your lab for most of the last three days, and while he didn’t necessarily feel neglected about this because he himself was off on a mission with Katy, it was knowing that you were locking yourself away to work that had him worried about you.  So when Shangqi returned from work and realized that you were, once again, stuck in your lab, he sighed and stared up at the ceiling to think about what he wanted to do.
“Wednesday?”
“Yes, Shangqi?” Your AI responded. “Would you like me to order dinner again?”
He cringed, “Are you mocking me for constantly ordering takeout?”
“No, I am simply picking up on your habitual ordering,” she replied. “What may I do for you?”
Feeling sassed, but ignoring it for now, he went on, “Can you kick Y/N out the lab?”
“You’d have better luck making pigs fly.”
Shangqi snickered to himself as he started to head towards the lab, “Technically, footballs are made of pigskin. So shouldn’t they fly?”
“I’m not here to argue semantics, Shangqi,” Wednesday said. “I’ve opened the door to her lab. You have access.”
“Thanks, Wednesday,” he slipped in through the door and spotted you immediately. You were reclined in your chair, feet up on the desk, staring at, at least, ten different monitors showing various reports. It took him a moment to gather that these were various different seismograms. Frowning, he managed to sneak up behind you and pull over a chair right beside you before you finally noticed him.
You blinked a few times and sat up, “Oh, shit. Hey! I did not realize you were back from your mission today. I’m so sorry. I was going to make food, and, and — “
Shangqi, with a knowing look, grabbed your hand and pulled it to rest on his lap, “What did you do?”
“Why is it that I did something?” You squeaked. “You know, that’s insulting. I’m insulted. Dare I say, I’m hurt.”
“Babe.”
You pouted, “Okay. Fine. That’s warranted, I usually do something. Or Tony does. Anyway, I did nothing. Or at least I don’t think I did.”
He blinked a few times, “Okay. You’ve got me hooked. What’s happening now?”
You cleared your throat and shifted in your seat a few times as you stared at the screens, “Well, you know, we uh, we met the uh, the evil Shangqi.”
“Uh-huh.”
“You know, Leader of the Ten Rings.”
“No, I got that.”
“Totally has a hard-on for me, you know, that one?”
He blinked as he stared at you, “Is there a point to this or are you just trying to rile me up for sex reasons?”
You cackled and squeezed his hand, “Yes, I have a point. Well, we saw your evil counterpart. We have an all-new Natasha, a parallel Tony, Steve is young, Strange, I think, mentioned a zombie version of himself. And I just —“
It clicked, “You think you’re out there.”
“What if I am?” You replied. “What if some multiverse version of me is wandering around here? What if she’s the super cunt of the galaxy and she’s badder than bad? That’s someone that has to be put down without prejudice.”
He frowned, “You’re telling me that you’re trying to find an evil version of you out there to kill her?”
“Yes.”
“That’s kind of insane, babe.”
“No, it’s not. Because I know what I think, and the things that I’ve accidentally done or nearly did. Now imagine I’m one of the millions of versions of me out there that are fucking Steve or you or, I don’t know, I bet there’s some other fucking superheroes out there that I’m shacking up with. Or villains, even —“
“Okay, are we establishing that in the multiverse, the different versions of you are playing superhero fuck bingo, or are we establishing that there’s a version of you out there that’s homicidal and trying to destroy the planet?”
“Okay. Let me get back to the point,” you sighed. “Imagine just trying to do any of that on purpose?” You shrugged a shoulder. “I stopped Steve’s heart out of rage. I took down some giant Chitauri the same way. I almost split the planet down to the core when my dad died. If I were me, and I went full supervillain because I had lost everything, well, I’d turn this place into my own personal playground, and who could stop me if I’m not holding back?”
You raised a good point, and Shangqi understood that. You were powerful, he knew that, everyone knew that about you. They also knew how your powers were linked to your emotions, and while you’ve accidentally done some pretty scary things, the things you did when you tried were just as bad, if not worse, and yet, tame in comparison to what you truly could do.
“Are you sure?” Shangqi asked.
“Sure that I’d kill everything and everyone? Well, I’m sure there’s some version of me out there that’s threatened that nothing would ever get in my way — “
“No, I know that. You said that when we went to get ice cream the other day,” Shangqi joked while you snorted. “I mean, are you sure that you would do these horrible, bad things?”
“What are you getting at?”
“Well, babe, I mean, if there’s a version of you out there that lost everything and went dark side, don’t you think, well, if you saw the opportunity, you’d just try to take it back?”
Your eyes shifted to stare off to the side as your brow furrowed and thought about this. Would you? If everything you had once loved and held dear was gone, could you do that? Could you be the type of person to slip into a new world and take over, just to selfishly get back everything you had lost?
“I don’t know —“
“I think you would,” Shangqi nodded. “I’ve heard you call this new Tony ‘dad’ so many times. I know how you’re avoiding Natasha every time you see her, but you ask Clint about her about six times a day. Maybe you’re not looking for a battleground. Maybe you’re looking for a new home.”
“I guess.”
He nodded, “But that’s only if there was some evil version of you walking around. Given that, ya know, there hasn’t been any crazy earthquakes or mudslides or anomalies any more different than the usual, I think we’re good, babe. I think this Earth just got the bad version of me, and not you.” Shangqi said as he stood up and pulled you with him. “Besides, this planet couldn’t handle the two of us on our worst behavior.”
“I suppose you’re right,” You sighed dramatically and let him drag you out of the lab. “I bet I’m so hot when I’m evil, though.”
“So you do like a bad boy. I knew it. See? Totally cheated on me with me.”
“That was — I thought we were over that!” You wailed while he laughed at you and pulled you into his side. “Maybe you’re the evil Shangqi, you know.”
“Nah,” he shook his head. “Katy said I’m too much of a simp for that.”
“I mean, yeah.”
“What?!”
~*~
Meanwhile, Steve had been outed by the press since he appeared in Manhattan following Doctor Strange and Peter fucking up, well, everything. They knew he was young, and alive, and had so many questions, but Steve was opting not to say anything and was letting them go about with their theories. Besides, they had a Captain America in Sam. That wasn’t him anymore. Instead, he was returning to his Nomad identity, and brought back the arm guards that they had made for him back in Wakanda.
Steve was currently heading back to his room in the compound. He had a training session that day, worked out, and caught up with Bucky over the phone who was currently on his way back from a mission he completed. As Steve rounded a corner, he stopped in surprise when he spotted you standing there, cracking your fingers nervously as you looked up at him and saw him before he nearly walked into you.
“Y/N,” Steve nodded is head and stared at you, admiring shamelessly how you looked in that old blue sweater of yours that he loved so much, that he hadn’t seen you wearing in years. “I thought you were home.”
You smiled and nodded hesitantly as you stared up at him. Tears welled up in your eyes as you looked at Steve, your hand reaching out to him before quickly retracting it back and settling for staring at him, “It’s not the same without you, Steve.”
His eyebrows flew up. Was he dreaming?  No, this couldn’t actually be happening, could it? Granted, it was everything he wanted. From the moment he was back, all he wanted was you. He lived through his mistakes, and now he was living yet another lifetime where he couldn’t be with the one he loved. Here you were, standing there in front of him, vulnerable, something you hadn’t been with him for a long time, gazing at him adoringly like he held the world in his hands, like you used to when you first dated.
His eyes flew down to your hand and spotted the absence of a ring, nothing left but a tan line, “What about Shangqi?”
“He’s not you,” you replied before surging forward. Your hand grabbed the back of his head and brought him down so his lips could meet yours. A stunned moment from Steve turned into a quick, hungry reaction. He groaned softly and grabbed you around the waist with one arm, pulling you against his chest while his other hand flew to your hair. You jumped up and wrapped your legs around Steve and he quickly adjusted his arm so he was holding you up against him with his arm under your butt like it was the best seat in the house.
He pulled away with a loud pop, “You and Shangqi, you’re done?”
“You’re the only one for me, Stevie,” You replied, smashing your lips against his.
Steve carried you back to his bedroom, his mouth never once leaving you. But in the back of his mind, he was ignoring a very obvious point, something nagging him that was screaming at him from the depths of his mind and he was making himself push it down because he needed this, he wanted this, he needed this to be true, but what really bothered him was one thing: you never called him Stevie.

A Very Stark Christmas
A/N: IT’S A HOLIDAY SPECIAL, BITCHES, AGAIN! And it’s super short bc I’m DROWNING in work.
Okay. So this is in my Stark!ReaderVerse! Feedback, as awlays, extremely appreciated and desired.
TAG LIST: I do not.
Pairings/Characters: Shang-Chi x Stark!Reader, mentions: Bucky Barnes, Clint Barton, Pepper Potts, Katy Chen, Xialing Xu, Steve Rogers, just about everyone.
Warnings: fluff/crack drabble? I don’t know how to categorize it. swears.
Summary: Your fiance is with you to celebrate Christmsa together! Your first Christmas with family since the Blip, aka, for once, you did not run away from a holiday
WC: 2,926
Tumblr media
Murder. All you could think about was murder.  As you watched your fiancé and your little sister run around the kitchen, you wanted to do nothing but murder them. Sure, they were adorable. They were so cute at this moment, playing together, laughing, having fun, but you wanted to fucking kill them.
A hand rested on your shoulder and you looked to your right to see Pepper sighing, “I’m sorry.”
“It’s fine. That doesn’t take me hours to do or anything,” you replied, staring at all the Christmas cookies you had decorated being covered in flour and other ingredients that ruined the designs and made the cookies, basically, inedible.
Pepper sighed softly, “I think Morgan got impatient waiting for you to come back from the store and decided that her uncle would be a sufficient baking buddy.”
“He’s also five years old inside, though. I guess it’s a good match.”
“Yeah…” Pepper trailed off. “Anyway, I invited Happy over, but he’ll be here after Christmas for the New Year’s party. May invited him to join her and Peter for Christmas.”
“That’s sweet,” you commented. “Good for Happy.”
“Yes. Rhodey will be here late too, and I’ve invited everyone to the compound for New Year’s.”
“Dude —“
“We’re keeping Tony’s legacy alive. We didn’t do a massive Christmas party. We’re doing a giant New Year’s party, deal with it,” she remarked. “How’s Katy enjoying the gift?”
“Well, I don’t know how well you can recreate Home Alone 2 when your entire family is with you, but she sent me a video of her throwing her brother into a snow bank in Central Park. I think they’re having fun.”
Pepper laughed, “Good, good. Okay, let’s stop this mess.”
You and Pepper walked into the kitchen to see Morgan holding a bag of icing like it was a knife, and Shangqi holding a bowl of sprinkles in the air like he was going to dump it all over Morgan.
“I will fucking kill you if you dump a bowl of sprinkles everywhere,” you blurted out quickly.
He cringed, “Sorry, babe.”
“Hi mama,” Morgan waved her hand cheerily. “We’re having fun.”
“I see! And making a huge mess of it,” Pepper took the bag out of her hand, “You ruined your sister’s cookies. She worked very hard on those, you know. You asked her to make them.”
“Oh,” her face fell slightly as she looked down to see the broken cookies covered in various other ingredients. “I’m sorry, Y/N. Uncle Shangqi made me have too much fun.”
“Dude…” he stared at her, shocked that she was totally passing the blame on him. “Wow.”
Morgan smirked while he pouted.
Shangqi glanced down and grabbed a cookie, “Hey, I mean. It still looks good! I’m sure this is fine,” he took a bite of one. You could see his eye twitched as his teeth sunk into a corner covered in raw flour and soaked in lemon juice, “It’s uh, got a nice bite to it.”
“Nice try,” you commented as you took the cookie from his hand. “You and Morgan are cleaning this up.”
“Yes, ma’am.”
“And when you’re done, I’m going to make coquito and blow your mind,” you explained as you picked some chocolate chips off of his sweater. “So go clean up, don’t make more of a mess, and I’ll be back.”
“You got it, boss,” he leaned down and pecked your lips. “Where will I find you?”
“I’ll be upstairs making my rounds of texts and video calls.”
He nodded his head once and gave you a quick, almost comical salute with how much sugar he was covered in, “Then I will see you soon.”
You smiled softly, mumbled ‘at ease’ and walked away, making sure to tickle Morgan on her stomach before you jogged upstairs. Going into your room, you jumped on the bed, pulled out your phone, and went to making your calls.
“Hey, Peter,” you smiled as you caught Happy in the background wearing an apron and very clearly trying to teach May how to make something. “Having a good time?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah. May burned a bunch of stuff. Happy is trying to help her learn to cook. Again. Totally not weird at all for me or anything,” he mumbled under his breath which made you snort. “Hey, May, Happy, Y/N called!”
“Hey!” May waved happily while Happy ran over.
“Hey, hey, munchkin!”
You snorted, “Happy, I think I’m taller than you or your height, even.”
“Still going to be munchkin to me,” he remarked. “You look good, kid. Doing okay? Where’s that uh, where’s that new fiancé of yours?”
“Why, so you can intimidate him?” You teased. “He’s downstairs cleaning with Morgan. They were playing and made a mess.”
“Good, you make that man clean his own messes,” Happy said, pointing a finger at the screen. “we’re not falling for any more idiots who don’t appreciate you in this household.”
“Yes, Happy.” You grinned. “You guys have fun. I’m going to make a few more rounds really quickly.”
“Merry Christmas, munchkin,” Happy told you. “Good to see you actually celebrating this year and not being dragged around by Sam and Bucky.”
“Did they tell you what happened last year?”
“They told Pepper, who told me, in tears. Let’s just say she’s very happy to have you back and celebrating again.”
“Right,” you mumbled. “Well, have fun. By the way, I think May burnt whatever’s on the stove.”
“Oh, shit!” Happy ran off to help her while you glanced at Peter.
“Yeah, that’s not surprising,” he sighed. “Bye, Y/N. See you at the party.”
“See ya, Parker.”
You then decided to call Bucky. After a few moments, and even a second call because you were not going to do this later, Bucky answered the phone wearing an elf hat and ears.
“Holy shit,” you mumbled as you immediately took screenshots. “Christmas really did come early for me. Thank you for this, Bucky Bear. This is all I ever wanted.”
“I swear to god, Stark. I will — “
“Y/N Stark, how you doin!” Sam shouted as he came into view, arm slinging around Bucky as eggnog sloshed around in his cup. “Doesn’t he look great? We’re calling him the grumpy elf.”
“Sam, he looks amazing. And you’re a fantastic Santa Claus. Or is it Samta?”
He beamed, “I see what you did there. I’m loving it! You went home this year, right? Or do we need to go drag your ass outside? We already adopted one emo for the holidays. Do we need another?”
You snorted, “I’m home, I’m home! Who did you get? Steve?”
“Yeah, Sarah’s got him helping her in the kitchen, since Sam is drunk and eating everything before she can even finish prepping for tomorrow.”
Sam nodded proudly, “Yes, yes I am. What you guys doing over there?”
“Shangqi and Morgan are cleaning up a kitchen explosion so I can make some coquito tonight.”
Cue those two groaning and shouting that they wanted coquito and didn’t have any. Yelling over each other, they proceeded to beg you to save them some, or make more for the New Year’s party. Sam was even so bold as to ask for the recipe.
“That’s my mom’s recipe. You’re not getting that,” you chuckled. “Over my dead body.”
“Well, don’t tempt us, Stark. We’ll make it happen.” Bucky joked.
“Oh ,sure, sure. I bet you two will kill me. You like me too much to do that.”
“You’re okay, I guess.” Sam sighed. “Like, we don’t care about your feelings or anything. We just check on you so you don’t break the planet and stuff.”
“Uh-huh,” you nodded slowly. “Right. Anyway, have fun. Say hi to —“
“Oh, let’s give her the tour,” Bucky held the phone out of Sam’s reach and brought you to the kitchen. He turned the camera around so you could see her kids sitting at the counter, one drinking hot chocolate while the other was decorating the rest of the mugs of the steaming hot beverage. Sarah turned and waved happily to you before slapping Sam’s hand away from the ham. Steve turned around and gave you a soft wave.
“Doing okay there, doll?” Steve asked. “I know how you get around Christmas.”
You rolled your eyes, “Not your job to check on me, Steve.”
“As long as I’m alive, I’ll —“
“Okay, before this gets awkward, I’m gonna let you go,” Bucky said quickly as he turned the phone way. “Later, Stark. Oh, and tell your boyfriend — sorry, tell your fiancé that he’s a loser. And tell Katy she’s an even bigger loser.”
“Wow,” your eyebrows flew up. “Bucky, you really do like them, don’t you? Aw, look at you making friends. This is so cute.”
“Shut up, Stark.”
You cackled, “Bye, guys. Have fun.”
You briefly spoke to Bruce after. Scott didn’t answer, likely with his kid, so you left a message for him. You went through your small circle of people, reminded Katy where she needs to drive to tomorrow so she and her family could come visit, and you tried to make one phone call that you’d been trying to make three times now.
“I know you have no one to go to, answer your phone, loser,” you muttered as you stood up from your bed and started to head downstairs, basically giving up on having this conversation.
But, funny enough, you heard a phone ringing as you descended the stairs. Frowning, you pulled away slightly to try to figure out whose phone that was while you waited on the line. As you hit the bottom step and looked around the room, you could see Clint by the front door taking off his boots while Pepper was hanging his coat on the rack.
“Can you stop calling me?” Clint looked at you. “God, you make it so hard to surprise you. Sheesh, your poor fiancé.”
You beamed. You tossed the phone on the sofa and ran over to Clint ,tackling him in a hug and listening to his back crack. “You’re such an asshole, Barton.”
“Yeah, yeah, whatever, Starky.” Clint hugged you and rubbed your back. “Pepper invited me over. Hope that’s fine with you.”
“I was just calling to wish you happy holidays in case I forget tomorrow. I guess this’ll suffice.”
“You usually do forget, yeah,” he nodded in agreement. “I brought some booze. And, uh, eggnog for the kid.” He then glanced up at Pepper, “Oh, but it’s, like, low-sugar and all that healthy crap you do.”
Pepper laughed, “It’s Christmas Eve, she ate two candy canes for breakfast and three cookies for lunch. It’s all hell breaks loose now.”
“Right on,” Clint grinned. “Where is the tiny Stark and the boy toy anyway?”
“Kitchen,” you held on to Clint’s arm and dragged him to the kitchen. There, he could see Morgan sitting on the counter and throwing things into the garbage can like it was basketball, which Shangqi was holding up for her and cheering her on. “Hey, Morgan. You remember Clint, right?”
“Hi, Mr. Barton,” Morgan waved her hand.
“Clint’s fine, squirt,” Clint waved back to her.
“I’m not a squirt! I am Queen Morgan of Dragonridge and I slayed the giant demon dragon.”
Clint blinked leaned down to whisper in your ear, “I’m terrified of the inventions she comes up with when she’s older.”
“She already made a very crude, but effective, outline of flame-thrower pistols. I’m so excited,” you replied.
Clint now made a mental note that Morgan was a terrifying little creature. He nodded to Shangqi with a grin, reaching over to shake his hand as Shangqi put the can down to give him a hug.
“Still engaged to her? You’re brave.”
You mumbled swears while Shangqi held a hand over his own heart.
“I know, right? I’m shocked too. I think it’s the food that keeps me here.”
“You know? Fuck the both of you.”
“Yeah, fuck the both of you,” Morgan echoed.
“Oh, fucking shit,” you mumbled and pinched the bridge of your nose while Morgan started cackling maniacally.
“Okay. I think that’s a good time to force you to a bath,” Pepper said as she took Morgan’s hand and helped her off the counter. “Clint, make yourself comfortable. We’re eating late and opening a present each tonight.”
“Sounds good,” Clint thanked her and watched the two disappear. With them gone, Clint stared at you and your fiancé who was resting his chin on the top of your head. “I’ve got pizza in the car we can have for lunch.”
“Amazing,” you sighed happily.
“Wait, we’re opening presents tonight?” Shangqi asked with a furrowed brow. “You guys don’t wait until Christmas?”
“Just one gift tonight,” you explained. “When I was a kid my mom and I would cook all day long, open a present at night. She tried to get me to go to midnight mass, never happened, always knocked out.”
“Wow, are you going all out?” Clint asked. “The last time you did all that was, I think, I think when we were all at the tower.”
“Yeah….” you trailed off and glanced up at Shangqi. “Thought I’d share some off my Christmas traditions.”
Your fiancé beamed, “I’m honored, babe. I really am. Anything else I should know?”
“At the moment? Nah.”
He nodded, “Oh, since Katy’s family is coming tomorrow, I have it under good authority they’re making some stuff to bring over.”
You raised an eyebrow, “How did they find a way to make food? I don’t think there was a kitchen in that room at The Plaza.”
Shangqi sighed and patted the top of your head, “Never underestimate  that family’s desire to feed people. It outweighs everything every time.”
“Noted. Great, it’ll be a Chinese-American-Puerto Rican Christmas for all,” you clapped your hands together. “Let’s do this. I’ll get started on the coquito.”
“I’ll help you get the pizza out of the car,” Shangqi nodded to Clint.
Clint sighed happily, “I can’t wait to eat all of that food tomorrow.”

The boys heated up the pizza in the oven while you were making the festive drink. Shangqi would sit on the counter and feed you pizza while you worked, him and Clint shooting the breeze with you in the kitchen and talking about video games and movies, mostly. Morgan returned from her bath and joined the pizza party along with Pepper, who was delighted that Clint picked it up from her favorite place.
After making your coquito, you all curled around the TV and fireplace to watch Christmas movies together. Shangqi noticed at one point that Morgan was drawing the Grinch’s sleigh, and he wondered if he was witnessing a child evil genius concoct an actual way to steal presents from people.
You all opened one gift each, drank some more, and each went your separate ways to go to bed. Morgan was already passed out and carried up to bed by Pepper. You, Clint, and Shangqi hung around for al little while longer before heading off to bed.
In your bedroom, you curled up into Shangqi’s arms as he wrapped his tightly around you and stared up at the ceiling.
“I like this,” he remarked. “You’re doing things you used to do, sharing it with me. You look happy, babe. That makes me happy too.”
You beamed and squeezed his middle, “I mean. It still kind of sucks. Haven’t had my mom for so long so I’ve dealt with that but it really sucks not having my dad here. He’s the life of the party.”
“Well,” Shangqi turned so he was facing you, “I’m sure we can find someone to take up that title.”
“Yeah…” you trailed off.
“It’s going to be Morgan,” you both said and laughed.
“Good, too much pressure,” you remarked. “Thanks for coming. I know you wanted to do that Plaza Hotel Home Alone thing with Katy.”
“Yeah, but I can always do it next year or whatever,” He shrugged a shoulder. “But this was your first Christmas back with family. This was more important.”
“You’re kinda too good to me,” you muttered to yourself. “I think about that, you know? Helped me through so much. I kind of feel like all this time together I haven’t really done the same for you.”
“Well, babe. Next time my ex-husband comes back from the dead after all my friends died and we saved the world, I will heavily lean on you,” he teased. “Besides, that’s not true.  Remember when we went to Macau to see my sister? You were there for me through all of that. Even when I thought she might actually be rebuilding the Ten Rings, which is crazy,” he laughed to himself in disbelief. “Anyway, I’m not keeping track, babe. I love you. You’re amazing. We just have to be there for each other no matter what. Right?”
You grinned, “Right.”
He winked, “Merry Christmas, Y/N.”
“Merry Christmas, Shangqi,” you sighed happily and kissed him before resting your head on his chest. As your arms found a comfortable spot around him, you felt them brush against something. Frowning, you raised your hand and grabbed at his boxers, which made him squirm under your touch.
You sat up and stared at him in the dark, “Shangqi.”
“Yes, oh lovely love of my life?”
“Did you,” you paused to feel around, “Did you pin mistletoe to your boxers?”
“I did, yeah,” he cleared his throat. “Festive, right?”
“Oh, my god.”
